Marotta: 'No Dybala or Allegri issue'

http://www.football-italia.net/98285/marotta-no-dybala-or-allegri-issue

Feb 12, 2017

Juventus director Beppe Marotta confirmed Paulo Dybala will sign a contract extension “at the end of the month” and there’s “no problem” with Max Allegri.

The Bianconeri visit Cagliari this evening.

“When you are on top of the table, there’s always something to lose. To overcome opponents that are weaker on paper, you need the same concentration and attitude as the biggest fixtures,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

The director of sport was asked about the Dybala contract extension that has been promised for weeks and still not announced.

“Dybala’s entourage is in Argentina right now. They will arrive at the end of the month and that is the moment we’ll sign the contract.

There’s no reason to worry.”

Marotta also dismissed the debate over Allegri’s position, as today he marks his 100th Serie A game on their bench.

“We are concentrated on tonight’s game. There simply isn’t a problem with the Coach, despite all the questions you keep asking.”

Marotta: ‘Verratti is utopian’

http://www.football-italia.net/98519/marotta-‘verratti-utopian’

Feb 17, 2017

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta admits it’s “utopian” to think of signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.

The midfielder grew up as a Juve fan, and has been linked with a move to Turin in the summer.

“Did I watch him against Barcelona? I’m very happy for him and our national team,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“He’s a great player who we like, even if I think it’s utopian to think of him, because PSG are focusing on him and we don’t have an opportunity.”

Marotta was also asked about contract renewals for Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala.

“Khedira? He’s a champion, who has won so much. Regardless of when his contract expires, his destiny is in his head and we’ll address the situation in due course.

“We’re happy with what he’s doing and we’d gladly continue. We’re focused on the present though.

“As for Dybala, we’re in the home stretch. We’re waiting for his entourage to return from Argentina, then we hope to announce his renewal at the end of the month.”

Juventus signing Verratti is unrealistic, claims Marotta

The chief executive at the Serie A champions has insisted that Paris

Saint-Germain's Italy international midfielder will not be moving to Turin.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2017/02/18/32801652/-

Feb 18, 2017

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta believes signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is unrealistic for the Italian champions.

Verratti signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 titleholders PSG in August but the Italy international continues to be linked with a move away from Paris.

Serie A champions Juventus have emerged as a possible destination but Marotta insisted the 24-year-old will not be moving to Turin.

"I'm very happy for him and our national team," Marotta told Mediaset Premium prior to Juve's 4-1 rout of Palermo on Friday.

"He's a great player who we like, even if I think it's utopian to think of him, because PSG are focusing on him and we don't have an opportunity."

Verratti played a key role in PSG's 4-0 rout of Barcelona in the first leg of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 tie.

He has played 17 Ligue 1 matches this season and six Champions League games.

Marotta: 'Bonucci trouble over-emphasised'

http://www.football-italia.net/98877/marotta-bonucci-trouble-over-emphasised

Feb 25, 2017

Juventus director Beppe Marotta insists Leonardo Bonucci’s row with Max Allegri was “over-emphasised, as these things happen in every family.”

The defender was dropped for Wednesday’s 2-0 Champions League victory away to Porto as punishment for exchanging insults with his Coach on the touchline.

“Bonucci is the usual Bonucci. What the media tried to call the Bonucci incident was closed. We have another test tonight and he is one of the protagonists, as always,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium ahead of the game with Empoli.

“We didn’t particularly need to mediate between Bonucci and Allegri. All the players are present in locker room situations. Our community has rules that need to be respected.

“We did not put anyone on trial, we just clarified certain aspects in the best possible way, as all good families do. The idea of ‘it’s either me or him’ was dreamed up by the media. The job of the club is to support the Coach and team, intervening when necessary. These things happen in a family, it’s just in this case it was in front of the cameras and therefore was over-emphasised.

“We know that March and April are the most important months of the campaign, as there are so many fixtures jammed together in three different tournaments. We know what we have to do, regardless of the opponent.

“On paper Empoli might seem like an easy team to beat, but that’s not the case. We need to play with the guts worthy of the Serie A leaders.”

This evening Mattia Caldara bagged a brace for Atalanta to stun Napoli 2-0 at the Stadio San Paolo. Juventus have already bought Caldara and left him on loan in Bergamo until June 2018.

“I was able to glimpse a bit of that performance and he did very well. He is improving, he plays in an organised side with a great Coach like Gian Piero Gasperini, so this experience in the provinces will do him good.

“We are happy and also proud that we made this purchase early.”

Marotta: ‘Juventus don’t need Belotti’

http://www.football-italia.net/99303/marotta-‘juventus-don’t-need-belotti’

Mar 6, 2017

Giuseppe Marotta praises Torino striker Andrea Belotti but Juventus "have a super attack which gives us guarantees”.

The Italian international is top-scorer in Serie A this season, leading to rumours he could leave the Granata in the summer.

Belotti has a €100m release clause, but it’s not valid for Italy so the Bianconeri couldn’t activate it they wanted to.

“Evaluations start from the moment a player goes onto the market and there are offers,” Marotta said after the FIGC elections.

“He’s a strong player, he’s Capocannoniere. Torino previously had a Capocannoniere, Ciro Immobile, in their ranks and he didn’t go on to confirm himself as a great player, though he is a good player and I wish him luck, as I do with Belotti.

“Are we following him? We like good football and he expresses it in the best way, but we have a super attack which gives us guarantees for the coming years.”

Marotta: ‘Allegri 100% staying at Juventus’

http://www.juvefc.com/marotta-allegri-100-staying-juventus/

Mar 7, 2017

Beppe Marotta assures supporters that Max Allegri is 100% remaining at Juventus.

Allegri has been linked with both Arsenal and Barcelona however Juve’s General Manager is confident that the Tuscan native will be in charge next season.

“Is Allegri 100 per cent certain to stay? I think so, right now there are no impediments to that. We’re always very close with Allegri, there’s a great relationship with him.” Marotta  told Mediaset.

“We’re happy with him, and he with us, so the problem doesn’t even arise.”

Marotta turned his attention to high-flying Torino striker Andrea Belotti who is linked with a move away this summer.

“Evaluations start from the moment a player goes onto the market and there are offers,”

“He’s a strong player, he’s Capocannoniere. Torino previously had a Capocannoniere, Ciro Immobile, in their ranks and he didn’t go on to confirm himself as a great player, though he is a good player and I wish him luck, as I do with Belotti.

Paratici: ‘Juventus happy with Allegri’

Sporting director Fabio Paratici confirms Juventus “have every intention” of keeping Max Allegri, and confirms Corentin Tolisso interest.

Allegri has been linked with the Arsenal job if Arsene Wenger stands aside, but it seems the Bianconeri are keen to keep him in Turin.

“We’re happy with him, he’s had great results with us,” Paratici told reporters as he received the Premio Scopigno in Amatrice.

“He’s one of the world’s best Coaches, we’re happy to continue with Allegri - very happy in fact. He's a great person and a great Coach, we have no doubts about him.

“We have every intention of moving forward with him.”

Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso has been heavily linked with a move to the Old Lady, is he a target?

“It’s clear there are players who play at a high level, and every big team follows them. Tolisso is very good, he’s a player all the big teams are following.

“You follow a lot of players, then going further depends on certain things. Those we follow are all of value, then the transfer market is also about opportunities and you can’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

Clubs walk out of Serie A meeting

Milan, Juventus, Inter, Napoli, Roma and Fiorentina all walked out of today’s Lega Serie A meeting in a dispute over television rights.

All 20 clubs were meeting today in order to elect a new President of the Lega Serie A, but the six clubs and Chievo left the meeting early.

“The rupture is incurable,” Milan CEO Adriano Galliani told reporters outside the Lega headquarters.

“It’s not possible to find a solution and move forward with the work, we represent 80 per cent of fans in Italy.

“The governance is a fig leaf, the problem is - as usual - the sharing of television rights.

“Let them move forward with the clubs left at the table if they want to, but they certainly can’t decide on financial issues because that takes 15 votes.”

Joining Galliani in walking out were Juventus’ Giuseppe Marotta, Giovanni Gardini of Inter, Fiorentina CEO Sandro Menucci, Umberto Gandini of Roma and Napoli’s Antonio Saracini.

Galliani also took the opportunity to speak to ANSA, and once again deny that he could be involved in a new takeover of Milan.

“To think that I could be at the head of Milan is like saying Donald Trump is the head of ISIS.

Marotta: ‘Great relationship with Allegri’

http://www.football-italia.net/101170/marotta-‘great-relationship-allegri’

Apr 15, 2017

Tifosibianconeri English page - CLICK HERE

Giuseppe Marotta assures Juventus have “a great relationship” with Max Allegri with “the premises to move forward”.

The Coach has won the double in each of his two seasons in Turin, and is going for the Treble this season.

Despite that, there have been rumours that he could leave the club in the summer, with Arsenal said to be interested in his services.

“Allegri is not a topical issue,” Marotta shrugged, speaking to Mediaset ahead of today’s match with Pescara.

“We opened a winning cycle, there’s a great relationship between us with the premises to move forward. We’re focused on this game and the next one [with Barcelona] to go forward.

“The deserved 3-0 isn’t enough to go there and play carelessly, there’s the page of anthology with Paris Saint-Germain which should be read and interpreted.

“We know that we’re facing a strong team, we need to face them head-on as Allegri will do.”

Marotta wanted Dybala and Mascherano

http://www.football-italia.net/101358/marotta-wanted-dybala-and-mascherano

Apr 19, 2017

Tifosibianconeri English page - CLICK HERE

Beppe Marotta reveals the “risk” he took in signing Paulo Dybala and confirms Juventus tried to buy Javier Mascherano from Barcelona.

“Dybala was a big opportunity, we believed from the start and when competition erupted with Milan and Inter, we had the courage to take a risk by raising our bid.

“We knew that we had a great talent within our grasp and therefore it was worth the risk,” the Bianconeri director told Mediaset Premium of their €40m swoop from Palermo.

Marotta was asked if there was truth in the rumour Juventus had tried to sign Mascherano over the summer.

“It’s normal that over the course of a summer transfer session, you can try even some moves that are improbable, but an ambitious club and its directors have the duty to at least try for these targets, even if they have a small chance of going through. It’s not a defeat, failing to complete those moves.”

Barcelona overturned a 4-0 first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, so feel confident they can qualify tonight.

“There is the right level of concentration, great respect, but absolutely no fear. This is our most important game of the season so far, in a difficult arena, against a very tough opponent and we are fully aware of our own strength.

“I think today the collective is important, the mentality of a positive, attacking team that has an excellent defence, but has no intention of sitting back in the final third, because otherwise that could create problems.

“Massimiliano Allegri has imposed this mentality over the last few weeks and I have faith that it’s what we’ll see this evening.

“Barcelona’s greatest strength is their attack, as they are capable of conceding a lot, as they did in Paris in Turin, but also of fighting back thanks to their remarkable potential upfront.”

Marotta: 'Few players worthy of Juve'

http://www.football-italia.net/101563/marotta-few-players-worthy-juve

Apr 23, 2017

Tifosibianconeri English page - CLICK HERE

Juventus director Beppe Marotta praised Max Allegri’s man-management, but warned “there are few players out there worthy of this shirt.”

“The squad and Coach are very experienced, both in Italy and international football, so they are accustomed to living with this type of pressure,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“At the same time, there is a strain in this tour de force and it’s understandable. The Coach puts the best XI on the field for that particular match and that includes finding those with the greatest motivation.

“If we remember the first days when Allegri arrived and the protests against him, the same banners we now see are hailing his performance.

“He always had these capabilities, but arriving in a difficult situation and being able to win over the fans was a great way of showing that Allegri is not just a fine tactician, but also excellent at dealing with the players as men, as a group and of rotating them based on their requirements.”

Gonzalo Higuain did not score over two legs against Barcelona, but Marotta assures it was not a disappointing contribution.

“As a spectator and director, I thought Higuain had a great performance in Barcelona and worked for the team. He is a modern striker, so doesn’t just sit there waiting for the ball, but sacrifices himself for the team.

“We have to give a lot of credit to this group, which includes all of the players and the managerial staff. Some played less than others, but everyone gave a significant contribution to the overall campaign.”

When it comes to transfer speculation, Marotta warned bringing in new faces is more complicated than some might think.

“It’s not easy to improve the squad, as there are few players who are worthy of this shirt, while the current side is giving us guarantees for both the present and the future.”

A new signing has already been made, as Pablo Bentancur is on his way from Boca Juniors next season.

“It is our duty to monitor young players and try to get them under contract. He is still very young and a promising player, so it’ll be up to Allegri to evaluate him and decide what is the best course of action. It’s not as if he’ll arrive and the first day he’ll be used in the starting XI, we don’t want to put too much pressure on him.”

Marotta: ‘No meetings for Schick’

http://www.football-italia.net/101801/marotta-‘no-meetings-schick’

Tifosibianconeri English page - CLICK HERE

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta admits “everyone likes Patrik Schick” but “we haven’t had any meetings”.

The Bianconeri have been heavily linked with the Sampdoria striker this week, and it was even reported that Marotta had met with the Blucerchiati to discuss a transfer.

“We add pieces every year, and also next year we’ll see if there will be opportunities,” the director told Premium Sport

of tonight’s Atalanta match.

“I think everyone likes Schick, he’s young, an interesting player. We haven’t had any meetings or offers though, we learned about these ‘negotiations’ through newspapers, we didn’t speak with Samp.”

Marotta was also asked about Max Allegri, as the Coach is out of contract at the end of next season.

“We’re very happy with what Allegri does, the renewal will come automatically.”

Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon’s future is also up for discussion, as he’s intimated that he’ll retire after the 2018 World Cup.

“We continue to enjoy Buffon, he’s an eternal youngster,” Marotta said.

“From a professional and a human point of view he’s someone who offers motivation, he’s a man for the dressing room and we still want him for a long time.

“He’s one of the best in the history of Italian football, and it’s difficult to find a successor to him.”

‘Juventus among the best in Europe’

http://www.football-italia.net/102276/‘juventus-among-best-europe’

May 8, 2017

General manager Giuseppe Marotta says Juventus are now “among the best clubs in Europe”.

The Bianconeri are in the Champions League semi-final, and hold a 2-0 lead after the first leg against Monaco, while they are also top of Serie A and in the Coppa Italia final.

“Let’s say we’ve deservedly taken on a prominent position, also because of having an important international mentality,” Marotta explained to Domenica Sportiva.

“The fact that we’ve gone through this period as an experience has led us today to being among the best clubs in Europe.

“I think money isn’t the only leverage for achieving results, but I think there’s a need for great competence within each club, great management and above all a great sense of belonging which comes from the ownership.”

Marotta: ‘Juventus look at personality’

http://www.football-italia.net/102815/marotta-‘juventus-look-personality’

May 19, 2017

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta confirms they try to look at the personality of a player before signing him.

The Bianconeri are holding an open day for members this afternoon, and the transfer chief took questions from fans.

“It’s normal that when we decide to buy a player, we look at two fundamental parameters,” Marotta noted.

“We look at the cost, the value of the player, but we also look at it from a personal point of view.

“It’s difficult to get into the psychology of a subject, in a normal company there are interview and entrance exams.

“Football moves so quickly that that it’s not possible to do that, you only have to be an hour or two late to lose a player.

“A clear example would be Paulo Dybala, there were top Italian and foreign clubs on the Argentine, so we had to accelerate and close the deal, in agreement with President Andrea Agnelli.

“Fortunately it was a good market operation.”

Marotta: 'Allegri must evaluate'

http://www.football-italia.net/102905/marotta-allegri-must-evaluate

May 21, 2017

Juventus director Beppe Marotta admits Max Allegri “must evaluate the situation, but his era at Juve is absolutely not over.”

The Bianconeri can clinch the sixth consecutive Serie A title by beating Crotone this afternoon.

“The transfer market is not just about buying champions, but also not selling them. Juventus do not sell their champions,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“We are protagonists in all three competitions, so going all the way means using up a lot of energy and needing to rotate the squad. The important thing is to be out front at the end. We are truly close to the finish line and we welcome the next challenge.

“We are on the verge of achieving a sixth consecutive Scudetto and are concentrated on a fundamental match for our season.

“Victory is earned with sacrifice and humility, these are the essential ingredients that Juventus pass down almost from generation to generation, the characteristics that most define us. Not our revenue.”

Marotta was asked if it was risky to wait until after the Champions League Final with Real Madrid on June 3 to define Allegri’s situation.

“Allegri deserves all the praise and attention, because he arrived amid scepticism and instead proved himself to be a great professional.

“We’ve said many times that we are happy to continue with Allegri. He is the one who must evaluate the situation, but we have every reason to continue and his era at Juve is absolutely not over.”

Marotta: 'Juve have grown'

http://www.football-italia.net/102917/marotta-juve-have-grown

May 21, 2017

Juventus director Beppe Marotta feels they have improved a great deal over the six years of Serie A victories, but confirmed Max Allegri hasn’t decided his future.

“The first thing Andrea Agnelli did was to create the club structure. We have a great unity with the Coach and players, so achieved this also thanks to the human elements,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia after clinching the title again.

“Clearly the economic factor is important, but so is planning and technical decisions. We made more of the brand and increased the revenue, which gave the sporting side of the club the opportunity to buy players of greater quality.

“Compared to the side that won the first Scudetto of this run, the squad now has immense quality and is at the top on a European level too.

“I can confirm we are very satisfied with what he has done and will be very happy to continue with him. We have to meet, but I think that considering the man he is, Allegri will feel his era at Juventus has not concluded yet.”

Juventus have shown an ability to build this squad with free agents, such as Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba and Dani Alves, but also spending €90m on Gonzalo Higuain.

“I think the right mix is to contemporaneously seek young talents who can learn from the long-running champions like Buffon, Chiellini and Bonucci.

“We believe in the culture of work, which has been decisive in our success, so there’s no need or desire to seek the likes of Neymar.

"I think we have created a winning model at the club, because everyone knows their duties and what they need to do. Agnelli is a great fan and embodies the Juventus spirit, which is to try to win in every competition we enter."

Marotta: ‘No deal for Keita’

http://www.football-italia.net/102949/marotta-‘no-deal-keita’

May 22, 2017

Giuseppe Marotta insists Juventus do “absolutely not” have a deal for Lazio’s Keita Balde Diao but “we’re interested”.

The Bianconeri have been increasingly linked with the forward, but their general manger insists talk of a deal is premature.

“Is Keita already ours? Absolutely not,” Marotta said on Radio Rai.

“He is a Lazio player and he has another year on his contract. We’re watching him, I think he’s a good player but for the moment there’s no negotiation.

“We’re interested, but we’ll evaluate things calmly.

“We’ve already taken [Mattia] Caldara, although he’ll remain in Bergamo [with Atalanta], and it’s the same for [Leonardo] Spinazzola who is already ours. We’ve focused on interesting youngsters.”

Marotta also discussed the future of Coach Massimiliano Allegri, who has been linked with the Arsenal job.

“When he arrived there was general skepticism but he’s earned the trust of everyone. The relationship between the club and the Coach is great and there are all the prerequisites to continue.

“Of course we haven’t talked about it yet, because all of our thoughts are on the Champions League final.

“Three years ago we had to deal with Antonio Conte’s sudden departure, and we did it in the best way.

“The group and the squad were favourable to the integration of a new Coach. Allegri entered in the best way and put all of his experience at the disposal of the squad.”

Finally, the director discussed next months Champions League final against Real Madrid in Cardiff.

“We’re aware that we’ve improved a lot compared to two years ago,” Marotta said.

“Some players who have already won it, like Dani Alves or [Mario] Mandzukic have come in. Allegri has experience and we want to play until the end.

“My future? I have a wonderful relationship with [President Andrea] Agnelli and we’ve created a winning group. I say that with pride.

“Sooner or later the end will come, but not now. We have a lot of desire to keep winning.”

Marotta: ‘Not thinking about Allegri change’

http://www.football-italia.net/103155/marotta-‘not-thinking-about-allegri-change’

May 26, 2017

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta says they are “not even considering” the possibility of Max Allegri leaving.

The Coach is out of contract at the end of next season, and it has been suggested he could walk away if the Bianconeri secure the treble by winning the Champions League on June 3.

“We hope it doesn’t happen, because we’d like to go forward with Allegri,” Marotta told Tuttosport.

“He’s proven himself to be a great Coach and with us he’s gained a lot, now he’s one of the best in the world.

“Right now this isn’t a priority, because everyone’s objective is to go to Cardiff and win, then after Cardiff we’ll sit around the table and listen to everyone, not just Allegri.

“The ideal would be to keep hold of Allegri and we’re not thinking about changing. We’re not even considering it.”

Marotta joined the Old Lady in 2010 after a seventh-place finish, and Juve are now just one game away from the Treble.

“When we arrived at Juve in May 2010 we found a disheartened atmosphere, but above all there was a lack of football culture. That’s what the President [Andrea Agnelli] and directors tried to bring to the club.

“The Cardiff final is the realisation of a project, we thought about it, put it into action and realised it. Berlin was a set of factors which weren’t all calculated, though that remains an important journey.

“We were lacking in mentality and experience, and we’ve achieved those in two ways.

“On the one hand with the growth of people who were already at the club and in the squad. On the other with the insertion of players like [Mario] Mandzukic, [Sami] Khedira and then Dani Alves.”

Marotta: ‘Dybala at Juventus long term’

http://www.football-italia.net/103156/marotta-‘dybala-juventus-long-term’

May 26, 2017

Giuseppe Marotta insists Juventus and Paulo Dybala will have “a long journey together” and calls release clauses “madness’.

The forward signed a new contract with the Bianconeri in April, and the club’s general manager doesn’t expect him to leave any time soon.

“How do we choose a Juventus player?” Marotta considered in an interview with Tuttosport.

“Two levels: we take someone who is already an established champion: look at Dani Alves, [Mario] Mandzukic, [Sami] Khedira, [Gonzalo] Higuain and so on.

“Or, we look for talent. But, listen, a talent who can become a champion. That means someone who has not only the technical qualities but also the human values to turn into a champion, as happened with Dybala for example.

“We have a Del Piero project for him, in his new contract we’ve taken into account the value of the player, which goes hand-in-hand with enhancing the brand of the club.

“There’s common ground and the intention to have a long journey together.

“A release clause? It’s madness, I’ll never put one on a player. It’s not an advantage, it puts you in a weak position.

“If I’d put a clause on [Paul] Pogba we’d have said €60m was good, then we sold him for €110m.

“Gonzalo Higuain? I still don’t know if [Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis would have rejected €90m…”

Marotta also discussed this summer’s transfer campaign, as well as the best signings of his reign so far.

“Last summer was perhaps one of the best transfer campaigns in our history. I don’t want the expectation of something like that to happen now. We definitely want to strengthen the team though.

“We want to strengthen the team and some tactical changes mean we need some adjustments, even if we have a strong squad. We won’t sell our champions though.

“There’s something missing in attack, even considering [Marko] Pjaca’s injury. As for midfield and defence, we’ll see.

“We’re following the market, but it’s not easy to find players who will improve the team.

“Will we sell our top players? No, absolutely not. If there’s someone who wants to leave then it’s another matter, but right now I can’t see that. No-one wants to leave and we’re not trying to make quick profits.

“My best signing? Andrea Pirlo. At the time most people thought he was a finished player.”

The director was also asked about the future of 17-year-old Moise Kean, who made his first team debut this season.

“I hope he’s not a victim of his contract, because the regulations don’t allow us to tie him down until an age where he’s deemed able to understand it [18],” Marotta said.

“So we have to negotiate his stay with his agent, Mino Raiola. And it’s not possible for us to go beyond certain financial parameters on his salary, not least for ethical and moral reasons.

“I actually really like Mino, you’d have to know him. He’s someone who can argue, fight even, but he only has one word.

“I’d rather have that 1000 times than some of his colleagues who are more ambiguous.”

Marotta: ‘Opponents make excuses’

http://www.football-italia.net/103157/marotta-‘opponents-make-excuses’

May 26, 2017

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta decries a “culture of excuses” among their opponents.

The Bianconeri have secured the Scudetto for a sixth season a row, and the director discussed the achievement with Tuttosport.

“I don’t agree that we’ve had no opponents,” Marotta said.

“Roma and Napoli have always had positive results. I think whoever has come second in these years has lost at most five or six times, and those numbers show how competitive they are.

“For 10 years I was a director of less important teams and I always saw Juventus as a strong and winning club.

“When you’re strong and you win there’s a culture of envy and then your wins are denigrated or downplayed.

“When you win it’s because you’re stronger in every respect, unfortunately in our football there’s a culture of envy and a bit of a culture of excuses.

“In Italy our opponents have often lost and blamed the referee or something else. That’s the culture of excuses.

“It’s a wrong concept that we need to eradicate, because it takes responsibility away from the players, feeding a losing mindset into them.

“If we’ve taken almost 100 more points than Napoli and Roma over these six years, and I don’t know how many more than Milan, our clear supremacy is not up for discussion.

“Juventus are always under attack because it’s a target which provides a lot of popularity and is therefore up there to be hit.

“There are 14 million Juventini and the rest are against us.”

Juve chief taunts Man Utd over €110m Pogba deal

The CEO believes his club did some outstanding business by selling the

Frenchman for a world-record fee and has called buyout clauses "madness".

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/683/main/2017/05/26/35859562/-

May 26, 2017

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the Serie A champions felt €60 million was a good figure for Paul Pogba a few years ago and is pleased they never inserted a buy-out clause in the current Manchester United star's contract.

The Bianconeri would eventually sell Pogba to United for an initial fee of €105 million which could potentially rise to €110m depending on clauses in the transfer.

With Juventus getting an unexpected windfall - and potentially more to come - Marotta feels the France international's transfer is the perfect example why release clauses are a bad idea.

"The value of a player is determined when you sell him," Marotta told Tuttosport.

"Had we put a clause in Pogba's contract three years before we sold him, €60 million would have been a good number. But we now sold him for €110m.

"Buyout clauses are madness. I will never insert one in a player's contract. A high clause is not an advantage. It puts you in a vulnerable position instead.

"I don't know if Napoli would have sold Gonzalo Higuain for €90 million without the clause."

Marotta: 'Juve don't fear Real Madrid'

http://www.football-italia.net/103236/marotta-juve-dont-fear-real-madrid

May 27, 2017

Juventus director Beppe Marotta said they are ready for the Champions League Final and “we don’t particularly fear Real Madrid.”

The Bianconeri have their final game of the Serie A season with a trip to Bologna.

“We trust in the Coach, who made his evaluations. Evidently he wants to keep the concentrations level high, as there’s a big test coming up and this is the right approach,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium when asked about the relatively strong line-up.

“Massimiliano Allegri is one of the best Coaches in the world and I do not think our era with him is over. We are moving on the market, as all the clubs are.

“If this squad was to start work in July, it would still be competitive for all the objectives. It’s not easy to find players of the kind of quality to actually improve this side. We can either bring in talent to cultivate, like Paulo Dybala, or seek already-confirmed champions to give experience and mentality.

“The Serie A title is like the Giro d’Italia, where the best does eventually win out. In the Champions League there are unpredictable circumstances, but the statistic show we deserve to be in the Final.

“We respect Real Madrid, but don’t particularly fear them. We deserved our position and are better prepared than we were two years ago.

“We know that we have champions here and can fight it out to the end, even against a prestigious rival.”

Marotta was also asked about the controversy at Milan over Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract renewal, reports they threatened to leave him in the stands for a year unless he signs a new deal.

“Donnarumma is a great goalkeeper and Milan would do well to keep hold of him. We’ve got Gigi Buffon for now and he’s still one of the best in circulation. He’d deserve the Ballon d’Or for what he’s done in his career.”

Lotito: Marotta apologised over Keita

http://www.football-italia.net/104237/lotito-marotta-apologised-over-keita

Jun 16, 2017

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has claimed that Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta “apologised to me” over Keita Balde Diao.

A war of words erupted between Lazio sporting director Igli Tare and Keita’s agent Roberto Calenda over the attacker’s perceived refusal to sign a new contract with the Aquile.

However, Lotito has now suggested that Juve were indeed guilty of approaching the 22-year-old without permission.

“Marotta apologised to me, telling me that had nothing to do with Keita’s refusals,” he was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.com.

Marotta: ‘If Donnarumma is available…’

http://www.football-italia.net/104260/marotta-‘if-donnarumma-available…’

Jun 16, 2017

General manager Giuseppe Marotta says Juventus “have the right to examine every opportunity” when asked about Gigio Donnarumma.

It was announced yesterday that the 18-year-old would not renew with Milan, with his contract expiring next summer.

While the director expressed sympathy for the Rossoneri’s position, he didn’t rule out a move for the goalkeeper.

“For clubs it’s increasingly difficult to handle these situations,” Marotta told Corriere della Sera.

“We’re faced with a radical change in the image of a young footballer, now they have professionals close to them and they play out their career, even in opposition to the clubs which raised them. That’s a fact.

“The rules need to be changed, and the efforts clubs make in the youth sector must be protected with some kind of compulsory apprenticeship.

“Could Juve sign him? It’s clear that Juve have the right to examine every opportunity. When a player is on the market we have a duty to try.

“Are we in for him? At the moment, no…

“He’s a talent, then we have to distinguish between a talent and a champion.”

Marotta also discussed other potential targets for the summer, and ruled-out a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

“Could we get another Gonzalo Higuain? No, that was an extraordinary expense. We’ll stay in the ordinary, even if the valuations being thrown around are crazy.

“Verratti? Given his tactical features and the investment required, he’s a profile which doesn’t interest us.

“Patrik Schick? There’s nothing official, but we’re following him. He represents someone for the future.”

Beppe Marotta confirms Juventus turned down

a big-money offer from Chelsea for Alex Sandro

-juventus-chelsea-2017-serie-a-epl-summer-transfers-rejected

Jun 17, 2017

When Beppe Marotta speaks, we almost always listen. This time it’s no different.

Juventus’ director general has confirmed in an interview with the Corriere della Sera on Friday that the club has turned down a “very big” offer from Chelsea for left back Alex Sandro. Just how “big” this “very big” offer from the English champions — who are just so managed by Antonio Conte (at least for the time being anyway) -- remains to be seen, but rumors out of England and Italy suggest it could be in the range of €60 million.

That, my friends, is a lot of money. And that’s on top of what Juve have reportedly turned down for Sandro already, bids of €40 million and €50 million.

“Chelsea made a very big offer for Alex Sandro. We said no, but today players are masters of their own destiny.”

Source: Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia)

I mean, not to be playing total devils advocate here, but Beppe did leave the door open the slightest bit to something MAYBE happening down the road. Maybe.

But hey, Juventus has some world-class players on their squad, Chelsea is obviously looking to upgrade its squad as it returns to the Champions League, so it put two and two together as to why Conte and Co. would come knocking at Marotta’s door.

Marotta also spoke about Bayern Munich winger and current Juventus transfer target Douglas Costa:

“Thanks to Bayern we’ve contacted the agents for the player’s availability, but the Germans have to be willing to sell him and the price has to be something we can agree on.”

On top of confirming a bid for Sandro was rejected, Marotta stated that Juventus backup goalkeeper Neto is officially available with a reported move Wojciech Szczesny still working its way to being completed.

“To satisfy his requests, he’s on the market. Milan? We haven’t had any offers, for now.”
