Porto Put €15m Price Tag On Juventus Target

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/07/porto-put-e15m-price-tag-on-juventus-target/?

Jul 12, 2015

Juventus are interested in signing 24-year-old Porto left-back Alex Sandro.

An apparent €15million is reportedly the price request put forward by the Portuguese side for the Brazilian as stated in his contract which ends next year. Regardless, Juventus appear happy to meet this €15m minimum request for the player who saw his career take off in Brazil with Santos.

Tuttosport have stated that Sandro’s time at Porto is now up. On top of this, Sambafoot equally hint at his exit by claiming that he would fit into the Italian side well alongside the ageing Patrice Evra.

In addition, there has been talk of Fernando Llorente’s potential involvement in a swap deal that would see him go in the opposite direction although there is also strong interest in the Spanish striker from the Premier League.

Juventus Make Bid For Porto Full Back

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/07/juventus-make-bid-for-porto-full-back/?

Jul 16, 2015

Alex Sandro has been subject to a bid by Italian champions Juventus.

The Porto full back has been at the club since 2011 and Juve are chasing the Brazilian international to strengthen their defence.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Bianconeri have submitted an offer of €15 million plus bonuses to Porto for Sandro.

It is believed, however, that Porto are looking for a figure of €20 million for Sandro.

This fee could be lowered should Juventus include Fernando Llorente in the deal, a player who Porto are interested in signing.

Llorente struggled last season, with Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata the preferred attacking partnership for Juventus.

With Euro 2016 at the end of next season, Llorente may be willingly to leave Juve in order to get regular first team football and thus boost his chances of representing Spain at the championships.

Report: Juventus want Alex Sandro

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/juventus/transfer-talk/news/report-juve-want-sandro_234261.html

Jul 19, 2015

Juventus are reportedly preparing a move for Porto defender Alex Sandro.

The 24-year-old moved to Porto from Santos in 2011 and has since developed into one of the best left-sided defenders in European football.

Porto have already lost Danilo to Real Madrid this summer and had hoped to keep their other Brazilian full-back.

However, according to giornalaccio rosa dello Sport, Juve are confident of acquiring the defender's services before the start of the new campaign.

The same report has claimed that Juve will initially offer £10m.

Juventus prepare Sandro bid

http://www.football-italia.net/69428/juventus-prepare-sandro-bid?

Jul 19, 2015

Juventus will submit an offer for Porto left-back Alex Sandro in the coming days, according to reports.

The Bianconeri are believed to be in the market for full-back, with the left side of the defence representing a problem area, with 34-year-old Patrice Evra the only natural in that position.

giornalaccio rosa dello Sport believes that officials from the Old Lady will fly to Portugal in the next 72 hours to submit an official offer for Alex Sandro.

The 24-year-old’s release clause is set at €50m, but with only a year remaining on his contract, the newspaper believes the offer will be between €12m and €15m.

The player is not thought to be keen on renewing his contract, so Porto could sell at a reduced fee rather than lose him for nothing next summer.

Juventus prepare Alex Sandro bid?

http://www.football-italia.net/69444/juventus-prepare-alex-sandro-bid?

Jul 20, 2015

Reports in Portugal say that Juventus are on the verge of launching a €15m bid for Porto left-back Alex Sandro.

Portuguese outlet A Bola has reported today that the Bianconeri are ready to submit their opening proposal for the 24-year-old.

The Brazil international, who joined Porto in 2011, has a contract running until next summer with the Portuguese club.

Juventus have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer, capturing Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Simone Zaza, Neto and Daniele Rugani.

Lopetegui blocks Sandro to Juve?

http://www.football-italia.net/69453/lopetegui-blocks-sandro-juve?

Jul 20, 2015

Reports in Portugal suggest Porto Coach Julen Lopetegui is urging the club not to sell Alex Sandro to Juventus.

Stories have emerged both in Italy and in Portugal that the Bianconeri are preparing an offer of between €12m and €15m for the left-back.

Sandro’s contract expires at the end of the coming season, with the suggestion that the Dragao would sell for a reduced price, rather than see him leave for free next summer.

However, OJogo claims Lopetegui is personally lobbying the club not to sell the defender, who he sees as a crucial element of his team.

That means the Old Lady would have to pay the 24-year-old’s €25m release clause if they wish to sign him this summer, something which is unlikely, given their pursuit of high-cost targets Mario Gotze and Julian Draxler.

Juventus To Battle Real Madrid For Defender

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/08/juventus-to-battle-real-madrid-for-defender/?

Aug 17, 2015

Juventus will have to fight off Spanish giants Real Madrid if they want to sign Porto full-back Alex Sandro.

The Bianconeri have been eager to sign another left-back this summer to act as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra who is now 34.

However, according to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo, Los Blancos manager Rafa Bentiez is very keen on bringing the Brazilian to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Porto are thought to be unwilling to sell after already losing right-back Danilo to Madrid earlier this summer. Any deal between The Old Lady and the Portuguese side is likely to occur in the final days of the transfer window.

The 24-year-old is already a Brazil international with six caps for the Canarinho.

Sandro was a regular for Porto last season and played nine times in the Champions League.

Juventus Face Fight With Real Madrid And
Manchester City To Sign Porto Defender

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/08/juventus-face-fight-with-real-madrid-and-manchester-city-to-sign-porto-defender/?

Aug 17, 2015

Juventus have competition to sign Porto defender Alex Sandro with Real Madrid and Manchester City interested.

The Bianconeri are looking for a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra who is 34 and have been looking at left-backs throughout Europe, being linked with Atletico Madrid’s Guilherme Siqueira among others.

According to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport, the Old Lady may have to sign Siqueira due to the fact they face significant competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid and financial heavyweights Manchester City to sign full-back Alex Sandro.

The 24-year-old impressed last season for the Dragoes making nine appearances in the Champions League.

Sandro is already a Brazilian international with six caps to his name and won an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 games in London.

He moved to Europe from Santos in 2011.

JUVENTUS CLOSE IN ON
PORTO FULL-BACK ALEX SANDRO

http://www.juvefc.com/juventus-close-in-on-porto-full-back-alex-sandro/?

Aug 17, 2015

Reports in Italy suggest Juventus could be on the verge of completing a deal for Porto defender Alex Sandro.

Having missed out on Guilherme Siqueira, it seems the Bianconeri are turning their attention elsewhere in their search for a left-back.

Sandro has been linked with a move to Turin throughout the summer and Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Juventus are close to completing a deal for the Brazilian defender

Having failed to agree a contract extension at Porto, Sandro could be heading to Juve in a transfer deal worth €20 million for the Portuguese side, while the full-back would agree a 5-year-deal with the Bianconeri.

Juventus 'very close' to signing
Porto left back Alex Sandro

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/8/17/9167027/report-juventus-very-close-to-signing-porto-left-back-alex-sandro

Aug 17, 2015

Once things fell apart with Juventus' reported deal for Atlético Madrid's Guilherme Siqueira, you had to figure Beppe Marotta would move swiftly to find an alternative to what was going to be their alternative at left back. Why? Because that's how Marotta and the rest of the Juventus front office operates.

As it looks now, that alternative to Siqueira is one of the names being thrown about even before the veteran Brazilian left back even became a realistic option. Basically, Juventus is set to switch one Brazilian for a much younger one with more upside that can potentially be part of this new young core Marotta has built this summer and last.

Gianluca Di Marzio ✔@DiMarzio
La @juventusfc vicinissima ad Alex Sandro: tutti i dettagli a #calciomercato alle 23 su @SkySport

Okay, as much as it's Di Marzio, let's get the info in English:

After being on the verge of signing Siqueira, Juventus decided to pursue Alex Sandro. After the Brazilian left back failed to agree to an extension with Porto, the Bianconeri saw an opening and are very close to signing him for over €20 million. They are working on details of agreement with Porto and the player, more details will be available later tonight.

Seeing as things have gone from 0 to 100 real quick, I'm sure plenty of us are waiting on pins and needles for those extra details that will be available later tonight. Or maybe we can be patient seeing as some of the other major business Juventus want to conduct this summer — cough cough Trequartista Watch 2015 cough cough — hasn't gone down yet.

Or, maybe because signing a top-quality trequartista is becoming more and more unlikely with two weeks to go before the transfer window closes and Marotta decided to put that money elsewhere. Like, you know, the other big need Juve still had to fill with the start of 2015-16 season rapidly approaching.

But that's just me throwing out wild theories.

Signing Sandro is an obvious coup for Marotta and Juventus as a whole because of their need for a long-term option at left back. As much as Siqueira would have helped, the 24-year-old Brazilian, who has been with Porto since 2011, is a step up. And at his age, there's certainly plenty of room for him to grow as a player. No doubt about it.

Dave Dwicarta @dwicarta
Last season in UCL, Alex Sandro led Porto in key passes & crosses and was 1 of only 2 outfield players who played every min of the games.

You want a logical and smart way to go from Patrice Evra to another quality player starting at left back, this seems like it is it. Like Di Marzio's post said above, Juventus saw an opening to sign Alex Sandro, and it looks like they've taken it.

Juventus close to Alex Sandro

http://www.football-italia.net/71168/report-juventus-close-alex-sandro?

Aug 17, 2015

Juventus are close to agreeing a transfer for Porto full-back Alex Sandro, according to reports.

The Bianconeri are looking for a left-back, but appeared to have cooled interest in Guilherme Siqueira of Atletico Madrid in recent days.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website claims Alex Sandro is close to joining the Old Lady, who are close to agreeing a fee of over €20m.

The website believes Sandro refused to renew his contract with the Portuguese side, meaning he could leave for free next summer.

That provided the bargaining position Juventus were looking for, and the Turin giants are currently working on the final details of the agreement.

Alex Sandro to Juventus done?

http://www.football-italia.net/71171/alex-sandro-juventus-done?

Aug 17, 2015

Reports suggest Juventus have completed a deal for Porto’s Alex Sandro, with the transfer to be finalised tomorrow.

The Bianconeri’s pursuit of the Brazilian stepped up a gear this evening, with reports suggesting a deal was close.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is reporting that the transfer is all-but complete, with the Old Lady agreeing a fee of €22m plus bonuses.

The 24-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract worth €2.5m per season, and reportedly even rejected an offer from Manchester City, as he didn’t want to leave Porto on a free transfer.

Porto and Juventus will exchange the final documents for the transfer tomorrow, according the website, before Alex Sandro flies to Turin for a medical and to officially sign his contract.

Dunga: ‘Alex Sandro worthy of Juventus’

http://www.football-italia.net/71237/dunga-‘alex-sandro-worthy-juventus’?

Aug 19, 2015

Brazil Coach Dunga assures 'Alex Sandro is a player worthy of Juventus’ with the full-back set to join from Porto.

The left-back is believed to be close to completing a transfer to the Bianconeri, for a fee of around €22m, and the Selecao boss explained to Tuttosport what the Old Lady will be getting.

“It would be a coup for the Bianconeri,” Dunga told the newspaper.

“He’s a classic Brazilian full-back, he combines great technique and speed. He’s hit a few shots reminiscent of Roberto Carlos.

“I know him well, I’ve called him up in the past, although he wasn’t very well at the time. I constantly follow all players who could be called-up, and I’m continuing to monitor Alex Sandro.

“He’s grown at Porto, further improving himself after his days at Santos. He’s a typical Brazil full-back, great at getting forward to help the attack, but also good with his [defensive] positioning.

“Is he the heir to Roberto Carlos? They look alike, especially on a technical level and for the ease with which they dribble.

“Alex Sandro has something less on the physical side, however, he’s less powerful.

“Alex Sandro is a player worthy of Juventus, but I think an experience with a top Serie A club will make him even more complete.

“Competing in the Champions League with a big club like that will help him mature in terms of the national team. I’ll follow him, because I’m convinced he’s a player with huge room for improvement.

“Allegri and I were teammates at Pescara 20 years ago, but he didn’t ask me for advice. He doesn’t need it, Juventus have a lot of scouts.”

Dunga was also asked about Neto, who has moved to Juventus to be Gianluigi Buffon’s understudy, but was not included in the latest Brazil squad.

“There was no rejection, and he hasn’t been downgraded because he’s playing the vice-Buffon role at Juve.

“Neto is a great goalkeeper and a great professional. If I didn’t call him, it’s because I know him well, and we want to evaluate other lads in these two friendlies [against Costa Rica and the USA].”

Why Alex Sandro Is the Perfect Replacement
for Patrice Evra at Juventus

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2551052-why-alex-sandro-is-the-perfect-replacement-for-patrice-evra-at-juventus?

Aug 19, 2015

If Patrice Evra’s move to Juventus was supposed to be the perfect opportunity for the left-back to quietly wind down his career as he entered his mid-30s, then no one told his new team-mates.

Far from playing the odd game in a Serie A, which is more technically gifted and less physically intense than a Premier League he had just left behind after nine years with Manchester United, Evra found himself heavily involved in Juve’s run to the Champions League final—all in a year his former club had failed to qualify for the competition.

Once in Berlin, though, the Frenchman found that his new club’s stunning run was to have its downside.

Barcelona’s impressive final display and 3-1 victory in the German capital meant that Evra is now the only man to have lost four different Champions League finals and the only one to have lost finals with three different clubs.

It is a statistic he could do without, to be honest, but as he enters the second year of his two-year contract in Turin, that winding down of a successful career could be about to come to pass.

The reason? Juve’s apparently imminent signing of the Porto and sometime Brazil left-back Alex Sandro, who is about to sign a five-year contract in Turin, according to TalkSPORT, and who looks like the perfect replacement for Evra on the left side of the Juve defence.

The route from Brazil to European football's top level via Porto is a well-trodden one by now, and Sandro looks to be just the latest to traverse it.

An ever-present in his club’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals last season—playing every minute of every game—Sandro’s is a name that has been and will be recognisable to seasoned European football watchers ever since his switch from Santos in his native Brazil to Porto in 2011.

Four seasons of development both at the summit of the Portuguese league and in European competitions would now seem set to garner the rewards that so many players from that club have received in the past, and at 24 he is the perfect age and fit for a Juve side who need to replace Evra, who is a decade Sandro’s senior.

Yet having both around at the club for a year would seem to be the logical option for Massimiliano Allegri.

Over his spell at Manchester United, Evra proved himself to be one of the most adept full-backs in the modern game at combining his attacking instincts with his defensive strengths—something that far too many players in that position seem incapable of doing as they prioritise one over the other.

A training-ground education in that would do wonders for Sandro, who also needs to improve upon his discipline given his 28 yellow cards for Porto over the last two seasons.

Perhaps it is that aspect of his game that has held back his international career, given that he’s only won six caps for Brazil, but in truth it has always been difficult for him to usurp the ever-improving Real Madrid man Marcelo from the left-back position.

This move could help him achieve that and help Juventus add another element to a side which looks well set to again be the best in Serie A this season despite numerous summer changes.

With Stephan Lichtsteiner in place on the right flank, Sandro would offer a similar attacking threat down the left, while also being able to tuck in and play as one of the three centre-backs should Allegri decide that that is the system that is called for.

If Evra’s signing was a stopgap one—the simple jamming of another experienced and proven player into a squad which was full of them—then Sandro’s is one for the present and the future.

The Frenchman can help with that development, and while ultimately it’ll be down to Sandro whether he stands or falls in Turin, the signs are that Evra can fade off into the sunset knowing that his place in the team will be in good hands.

Alex Sandro would be great for Juventus, says Dunga

The Brazil boss has compared the left-back to Roberto Carlos
and has little doubt he would be an instant hit in Turin.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2015/08/19/14566232/-?

Aug 19, 2015

Brazil coach Dunga believes Porto defender Alex Sandro would prove to be a great signing for Juventus if he were to join the Serie A champions.

The 24-year-old is heavily linked with a move away from Porto following his refusal to sign a new contract, with his existing deal due to expire in June 2016.

Atletico Madrid previously showed an interest in signing the left-back, but Juventus now appear to be sitting in pole position to lure Alex Sandro away from his current club and Dunga is confident he will succeed at the Scudetto holders.

"Alex Sandro would be a great signing for Juventus. He is a classic Brazilian full-back. He has a fine technique and a drive forward. He reminds me of Roberto Carlos a bit," Dunga was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

"I know him pretty well and have already called him up for Brazil in the past. I keep a close eye on all candidates for the national team, including Alex Sandro.

"He has developed well at Porto. He has improved since his time at Santos. He is capable of sending in good crosses for the attackers, but is also strong in his positioning. He is a typical Brazilian left-back.

"He is similar to Roberto Carlos, especially at a technical level and when you look at their dribbling skills. Alex Sandro is a bit less physical, though. He is not as powerful as Roberto Carlos was."

Juventus are hopeful of sealing a deal for the Brazil international in the upcoming days, making him their seventh signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sami Khedira, Mario Mandzukic, Simone Zaza, Neto, Guido Vadala and Paulo Dybala.

Alex Sandro skips Porto training

http://www.football-italia.net/71252/alex-sandro-skips-porto-training?

Aug 19, 2015

Alex Sandro did not train with Porto today, as the full-back’s move to Juventus draws closer.

The Dragões are preparing for this weekend’s clash with Maritimo, but A Bola notes that the Brazilian was not present for today’s session.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that the Bianconeri are working to conclude the transfer by the end of the day, allowing Alex Sandro to fly to Turin for a medical.

A Bola believes Porto will give an update on the player’s situation after the training session, so confirmation of the transfer could be close.

The 24-year-old is on the verge of completing a move worth around €22m, and is expected to sign a five-year contract worth €2.5m per season.

Marotta: ‘Alex Sandro yes, Draxler no'

http://www.football-italia.net/71271/marotta-‘alex-sandro-yes-draxler-no?

Aug 19, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta confirms Alex Sandro is close, but Julian Draxler has been ‘abandoned’.

The Bianconeri are playing their traditional pre-season friendly against the youth team in Villar Perosa, and the director gave an update on the transfer situation.

“I think we can close things for Alex Sandro in the evening,” Marotta told reporters.

“We’ve kind of abandoned the Draxler option for several reasons, but we’re looking for a trequartista. We want a top player, they're not easy to find.

"Henrikh Mkhitaryan? I don't know if Borussia [Dortmund] would sell him. [ilkay] Gundogan was a target, but I don't think it's feasibile.

"Juan Cuadrado? Maybe he'll be on the market. We're looking for someone with different characteristics, but we have 10 days to fill the gap in midfield, so we'll see.

"We have 10 days to get another player as well as Alex Sandro.”

Last season’s top-scorer Carlos Tevez has left the Old Lady, but Marotta is sure Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic can fill the void.

“They’re two signings we really wanted. They came to reinforce an area which is without a talent like Tevez.

“It’s normal that we had to replace him, we had to try and find suitable replacements, and we think we’ve done that with these two lads.”

Juventus' Alex Sandro signing
confirmed by Beppe Marotta

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/8/19/9179029/juventus-porto-alex-sandro-serie-a-transfers-2015

Aug 19, 2015

In just a matter of hours, Juventus will have a new left back. I know this because Beppe Marotta, Juventus' transfer master and director general, told us so at the club's annual summer match between the big squad and the primavera at Villar Perosa.

"We have completed the negotiation with Porto on a straight sale. Tomorrow he'll take the medical and we'll make it official. We took advantage of an opening with Porto, Alex Samdro will be a good investment."

UPDATE: ALEX SANDRO IN TURIN AHEAD OF JUVENTUS MEDICAL. SOUND THE HORNS.

Paolo Aghemo @AghemoPaolo
Alex Sandro é a Torino. Le immagini del suo arrivo su #skysport24

Ah, that feeling you have is the sweet sense of Juventus transfer satisfaction.

Alex Sandro will be a Juventus player. Because of that, Juventus will be getting one hell of a left back who, at the age of 24, will now be looked at as not just a long-term solution to a position of need, but also one that can contribute right away. This is what Juventus desperately needed, and Marotta swooped in like a dang bird of prey and got ti swiftly.

The reported transfer fee to bring Alex Sandro to Turin is rumored to be around €22 million. It's a lot of money in terms of a straight transfer fee, sure, but something that teamed with a relatively low salary of €2 million or €2.5 million, it's a deal that is logical for both sides. Porto gets a fee worthy of the player and Juventus gets their much-desired left back.

The best part of it all is that Sandro will be a Juventus player this time Thursday. And while he might not play any kind of role in Juventus' season-opening match against Udinese this weekend, it won't be too long before we see him bombing up and down the left wing as he wears a Juventus jersey. That sounds like a pretty good thing to watch to me.

Good investment indeed, Beppe.

Alex Sandro arrives for Juventus

http://www.football-italia.net/71294/alex-sandro-arrives-juventus?

Aug 19, 2015

Porto left-back Alex Sandro has arrived in Turin and will have his Juventus medical tomorrow ahead of a €20m move.

The deal was confirmed by Juve Coach Max Allegri and director Beppe Marotta this afternoon.

On Wednesday evening the 24-year-old Brazilian flew in to Turin and was not in training with Porto today.

According to Spanish newspaper As, the move will be worth around €20m with added bonuses of up to €5m.

His contract with Porto is due to expire in June 2016, so Manchester City were hoping to poach the defender on a free next year.

“Alex Sandro arrives and he has great quality and attacking drive,” said Allegri today.

“I think we can close things for Alex Sandro in the evening,” Marotta told reporters this afternoon.

Juventus were keen to add another left-back to their squad to challenge Patrice Evra for a starting berth and they see Alex Sandro as the ideal long-term replacement for the veteran Frenchman.

The Brazilian defender started his professional career with Atletico Paranaense and also wore the jersey of Santos before joining Porto in 2011.

He had since developed into a key player for the Portuguese giants, but a transfer became inevitable after he refused to sign an extension to his current contract, which expires next summer.

Atletico Madrid also showed an interest in signing Alex Sandro prior to Juve striking a deal.

The former Santos star becomes Juventus' seventh signing of the transfer window after the previous arrivals of Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Paulo Dybala, Simone Zaza, Neto and Guido Vadala.

Porto Coach Julen Lopetegui says new Juventus signing Alex Sandro will be missed, but remains coy on interest in Inter target Guilherme Siqueira.

Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro is completing his Juventus medical today before securing a reported €20m switch.

The Portuguese side are one of several teams, including Inter, to be linked with Atletico Madrid’s Guilherme Siqueira, who had previously come close to a move to the Old Lady.

“As a Coach I don’t enjoy losing a player like Alex Sandro, but my job is to find alternative solutions,” said Lopetegui at today’s pre-match Press conference.

“I have to look forward and not backward to build a good team that can win titles.

“Siqueira? I don’t want to talk about him. I don’t speak about players who aren’t part of my team.”

Alex Sandro is one step away from being a Juventus player, having passed his medical.

The Porto full-back arrived in Turin last night, and underwent medical tests today ahead of a proposed €25m transfer.

“Alex Sandro has completed his medical,” the Bianconeri announced on their official website.

“The 24-year-old full-back has passed the tests at Clinica Fornaca and then at the Istituto di Medicina dello Sport in Turin.”

The Brazilian international will now sign his contract with the Old Lady, believed to be a five-year deal worth €2.5m per season.
