Cuadrado agent flies in for Juventus

http://www.football-italia.net/90699/cuadrado-agent-flies-juventus?

Aug 31, 2016

Juan Cuadrado’s agent is reportedly on his way to Turin to finalise the winger’s return to Juventus.

The Chelsea man spent last season on loan with the Bianconeri, but there was no buyout in the deal and he returned to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Italian champions have been trying to bring him back, but Blues manager Antonio Conte is an admirer of the Colombian international and wanted to hold onto him.

However, after a breakthrough last night, Tuttomercatoweb reports that Cuadrado’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, is flying to Turin with the documents to complete the deal.

It’s expected that Cuadrado will return on loan, but with a mandatory buyout clause once he reaches a set number of appearances.

Official: Cuadrado back at Juventus

http://www.football-italia.net/90737/official-cuadrado-back-juventus?

Aug 31, 2016

Juan Cuadrado has signed for Juventus, on loan from Chelsea for €5m with obligation to buy for €20m after a certain number of games.

“Juventus Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea for the loan of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello until 30 June 2019, for an annual consideration of €5 million.

“Juventus has the right to acquire the player on a permanent basis, or will be obliged to upon the achievement of agreed team results during the loan period, for a fee of €25 million, payable in three financial years, minus the loan fees already paid.

“Should Juventus achieve certain sporting results during the player’s contract of employment, the club will owe Chelsea an additional €4 million in contingent payments.”

The winger already spent last season in Turin on loan and never really settled in London following his transfer from Fiorentina.

He was sold to the Stamford Bridge side in February 2015 for €31m plus the loan of Mohamed Salah, but remained only six months.

There is no medical, as the 28-year-old is currently on international duty in Colombia.

Juve doctors worked with him throughout last season, so already know his general condition.

Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado returns

to Juventus on three-year loan

Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado has secured a return to Juventus on a loan deal running until 2019.

Cuadrado's return to Italy has been completed after prolonged talks between Chelsea, Juventus and the player's agent Alessandro Lucci, despite manager Antonio Conte's attempts to convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Juve will pay a loan fee of €5 million a season, though they have the right to sign the player outright for a total fee of €25 million. A further €4 million is payable in add-on clauses.

Juve said in a statement on Wednesday: "Juventus Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea for the loan of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello until 30 June 2019, for an annual consideration of €5 million.

"Juventus has the right to acquire the player on a permanent basis, or will be obliged to upon the achievement of agreed team results during the loan period, for a fee of €25 million, payable in three financial years, minus the loan fees already paid.

"Should Juventus achieve certain sporting results during the player's contract of employment, the club will owe Chelsea an additional €4 million in contingent payments."

The Colombian moved to Chelsea from Fiorentina for around £26m in February 2015 but made just four starts under Jose Mourinho before joining Juventus on a season-long loan last August.

He made 40 appearances and scored five goals in all competitions as Juve claimed a fifth successive Serie A title.

Cuadrado has not featured in any of Chelsea's opening three Premier League matches, with Conte saying he was waiting for clarity on the player's future.

OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL: Juventus re-acquire

Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado on loan

There were days where a return to Italy for Juan Cuadrado didn’t seem to involve a black and white theme. There were days where Cuadrado’s potential return to Italy involved the city of Milan, not Turin.

Turns out, Cuadrado is going to be playing his ball in the same location he was at the end of last August.

Juventus has announced that Cuadrado has signed a loan deal with the defending Italian champions for the second consecutive summer. The initial loan fee to bring Cuadrado back to Turin for another go at the Scudetto is just like we heard from the Italian press over the last 24 hours or so — €5 million. What is different, though, is how the loan deal is constructed, with Cuadrado arriving on a three-year loan deal that keeps him in Turin through the 2018-19 season.

The complete details, courtesy of Juventus’ official website:

Juventus Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea for the loan of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado Bello until 30 June 2019, for an annual consideration of €5 million.

Juventus has the right to acquire the player on a permanent basis, or will be obliged to upon the achievement of agreed team results during the loan period, for a fee of €25 million, payable in three financial years, minus the loan fees already paid.

Should Juventus achieve certain sporting results during the player’s contract of employment, the club will owe Chelsea an additional €4 million in contingent payments.

Cuadrado, who made his name in Italy, returns to a Juventus club that looks much different than the last time he was wearing the team’s jersey. We know what kind of role he had last season considering who Juve had on their roster. Where, exactly, he fits into this puzzle now, well, we’re about to find out. But, considering Juventus’ continued pursuit of him despite the options that are on the roster, it has to mean something.

Cuadrado will give Max Allegri another weapon on a team that is now stacked with them. And if he is able to come close to replicating his early-season form from the 2015-16 campaign, then Juve are going to make this deal look pretty good on their part.

In that case, it’s time to welcome (back) Juan Cuadrado. May your wonderful afro and lightning-quick speed help Juventus go above and beyond what they achieved during your first season in Turin. That sure would be nice to see, I tell ya.

Cuadrado: I did everything

to leave Chelsea for Juventus

The Colombian is relieved to have returned to the Old Lady on a three-year loan deal,

effectively ending his ties with the Premier League club, ahead of making his second debut.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2016/09/12/27435422/-?

Sep 12, 2016

Juan Cuadrado says he was desperate to seal a return to Juventus, insists he "did everything" to leave Chelsea during the summer.

The Colombian spent last season on loan at the Serie A giants and, after completing pre-season under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, moved back to Italy on a three-year loan move.

Cuadrado is yet to make his second debut for Juventus, with the Old Lady beginning the defence of their title with three wins from their opening three games, but he is raring to go.

"It was exciting to see," Cuadrado told JTV. "To see the stands and the noise the fans make, I'm excited by the public's support.

"I did everything to come back, and thanks to God I'm here. I'm very happy."

Cuadrado scored five goals in 40 appearances for Juventus last season.

Cuadrado excluded over discipline?

http://www.football-italia.net/91863/cuadrado-excluded-over-discipline?

Sep 22, 2016

It’s claimed Juan Cuadrado was excluded by Juventus over a disciplinary problem, rather than personal reasons.

The Colombian was not included in the squad for yesterday’s win over Cagliari, with the Bianconeri citing “personal reasons”.

However, Sky is reporting that Cuadrado stormed out of training after learning that he wouldn’t be in the starting XI for the visit of the Isolani.

It’s then reported that Cuadrado apologised, but Coach Massimiliano Allegri decided not to include him for the match.

It must be noted that his club denies this sequence of events, but Sky nonetheless reports that Cuadrado could be fined, and may also miss the trip to Palermo.

Juventus: Juan Cuadrado left out of squad

for Cagliari for 'family reasons'

Juventus have said that Juan Cuadrado missed out on a place in the squad for Wednesday's 4-0 win over Cagliari due to "family reasons," amid rumours of a dispute with coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Cuadrado, 28, was expected to make his first appearance for Juve on Wednesday since returning on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, but the Colombia international failed to even make the matchday squad.

Speculation has been mounting in recent days that he had not taken kindly to missing out on a spot in Allegri's starting XI, with claims he immediately quit training in anger.

However, a club spokesman has told Gazzetta dello Sport that Cuadrado's absence was down to "family reasons," without going into any further detail.

Juan Cuadrado
Juan Cuadrado was expected to make his first appearance for Juve on Wednesday since returning on loan from Chelsea.

Cuadrado is reported to have apologised for leaving Tuesday's training session -- due to his family issues -- with Allegri not deeming him to be in the right frame of mind to play on Wednesday.

He was back in training on Thursday, though, and could now make the first appearance of his second spell with the Bianconeri at Palermo on Saturday.

Cuadrado is one of two alternatives to Dani Alves on the right, with Stephan Lichtsteiner having impressed when given the chance to stand in for the Brazilian recently.

Juventus' Juan Cuadrado Continues to Thrive

Away from Chelsea and Mourinho

  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2672244-juventus-juan-cuadrado-

continues-to-thrive-away-from-chelsea-and-mourinho?

Oct 27, 2016

It must be something about Italy. All across the peninsula, Colombian stars are thriving, with Carlos Bacca perhaps the most prominent example of a player from the South American nation enjoying life in Serie A.

His deadly scoring ability is routinely on display at AC Milan, but the striker is not alone. Luis Muriel has already netted five goals in all competitions for Sampdoria, while Duvan Zapata has four for Udinese; both players are looking impressive in the early months of 2016/17.

Jeison Murillo is one of Inter Milan’s best defenders, but Carlos Sanchez may be the most surprising of all. Shrugging off the struggles he endured with Aston Villa, the midfielder has consistently impressed on loan at Fiorentina as coach Paulo Sousa quickly made him part of the Viola starting XI.

Before scoring against Chievo on his full debut (see above), the 30-year-old arrived in early August and was happy to tell reporters at his first official press conference how he made the decision to move to Italy.

“I talked to [Juan] Cuadrado who told me to come here because it’s a family club, and that was important for my decision,” Sanchez said, citing the decisive input from his international team-mate.

Given his own wonderful time with the Tuscan club, the fact the winger spoke highly of Fiorentina should come as no surprise. Cuadrado spent two-and-a-half seasons with La Viola, contributing 20 goals and 15 assists in just 85 Serie A appearances, seemingly smiling the entire time.

Keen to break into dance whenever he scored, the man who also spent time with Udinese and Lecce gave Fiorentina fans many reasons to celebrate during his tenure with the club but never more so than on October 20, 2013.

That Sunday saw Juventus travel to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, where they quickly jumped into a 2-0 lead over an opponent who had not beaten them in 15 years. But Fiorentina were inspired in the second half, with Giuseppe Rossi netting a hat-trick and Joaquin adding a stunning fourth goal.

But the true driving force in that clash was none other than Cuadrado, his pace and direct approach repeatedly causing problems for the Bianconeri. According to WhoScored.com, he ended that game having created one goal, completed three take-ons and being fouled six times, the visitors left with no choice but to repeatedly hack him down.

That match and Cuadrado’s subsequent performances at the 2014 FIFAWorld Cup—where he had one goal and four assists in five appearances—paved the way for a January 2015 move to Chelsea.

But like Sanchez at Villa, he would not enjoy his time in England. The Stamford Bridge outfit spent £23.3 million to sign the player per Matt Law of the Telegraph, but he was never truly given a chance by Jose Mourinho.

“I just know that it's different to play in Italy than to play in England, different to play for Fiorentina than for Chelsea,” Mourinho said at a press conference after handing Cuadrado just four Premier League starts.

Mourinho kept Cuadrado on the bench at Chelsea.

“Next season, I believe he can have a fantastic season,” the then-Chelsea manager added, but the winger would feature for just 11 brief minutes of the 2015/16 campaign before being sent on a season-long loan to Juventus.

Back in Italy he would thrive once again, weighing in with four goals and five assists to help the Bianconeri win a fifth consecutive Serie A title. He would also net his first UEFA Champions League goal as the team were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the knockout stages.

Perhaps Cuadrado’s biggest contribution came in the Coppa Italia, though, with his wonderful deep cross picking out Alvaro Morata in extra time as Juventus defeated Milan to lift the trophy for a second straight season.

The Colombia international would return to London in the summer, but eventually a deal was struck that allowed him to return to Turin.

“He’s on loan for three years at €5 million per season,” Juve director Beppe Marotta said at a press conference, adding that “if Juventus win the Scudetto then there will be an obligatory buyout and €20 million will go to Chelsea.”

"I did everything to come back, and thanks to God I'm here, I'm very happy,” Cuadrado told JTV (h/t ESPN FC) shortly after the deal was finalised. He has quickly set about repaying the Old Lady’s faith in him, his impactful running and tactical flexibility adding a much-needed cutting edge to the team.

That was hugely evident against Olympique Lyonnais earlier this month, a game deadlocked at 0-0 thanks only to the brilliance of Gigi Buffon, whose efforts to deny the French outfit can be seen in the video below.

The Buffon show vs Lyon. Simply incredible. Legend.

The Juve skipper’s performance was discussed at length in this previous post, but as time wore on, Dani Alves sent Cuadrado away down the right flank. After a few stepovers to confuse his marker, the winger quickly glanced around for support but nobody was available for a pass.

That prompted the South American to take matters into his own hands in quite spectacular fashion.

“I tried to make the play, looked up and couldn’t see anyone in the middle,” he told Mediaset Premium (h/t Football Italia) shortly after the final whistle. “So I tried to hit a missile and it worked.”

proxy.jpg?t=HBilAWh0dHBzOi8vdi5jZG4udmlu

Pick. That. Out. @Cuadrado with an absolutely brilliant goal! #FinoAllaFINE

As can be seen in the video above, he did just that, his shot proving unstoppable for Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. Sadly for fans of the Bianconeri, that result would be followed by a poor loss to Milan last weekend, but they would somewhat make amends against Sampdoriajust four days later.

Despite an emphatic-looking 4-1 final scoreline, the victory at JuventusStadium was far from a convincing display by a team who have looked disjointed all season. However, boosted by Claudio Marchisio’s eagerly awaited return from injury, coach Massimiliano Allegri’s men picked off a poor opponent with relative ease.

Cuadrado tormented them throughout, running rampant on the flank as he turned in yet another fine display. Without taking a single shot, the 28-year-old tipped the result in Juve’s favour, with FourFourTwoStats Zone highlighting the breadth of his contribution:

Match-winning display from @Cuadrado vs Sampdoria: 47/59 passes (79.7%), 2 assists, 1 take-on, 1 tackle, 1 int (via @StatsZone)

Connecting with 47 of his 59 pass attempts, he created four clear scoring opportunities, completed one take-on while winning one tackle, one interception and was fouled twice over the 90-plus minutes of action.

He was directly responsible for two of his side’s goals, his cross after just four minutes picking out Mario Mandzukic for his first strike of the season, while a well-placed free-kick allowed Giorgio Chiellini to head home the fourth.

The video below showcases his every touch, while the man himself insists Juventus must strive to do better as he looked forward to the next fixture against Napoli in a post-match interview with MediasetPremium.

“Our mentality was spot on. We all felt it as a team and I think we need to make sure we play with that level of determination in every game, starting on Saturday,” Cuadrado said, per Juve’s official website. “Every game we play is tough. Right now we can enjoy this win, but then we need to turn the page straight away.”

He was then asked about his role in the team, to which he gave a remarkably simple answer: “I try to do what Allegri asks me to, which is to stay as wide as possible, look to find the strikers and create chances for them to score.”

Cuadrado has been doing that all season, something that Chelsea and Mourinho never allowed him to. Both could use a player with his attributes this term, but thankfully for Juventus, he’s back in black and white, delivering perfectly timed crosses and scoring important goals.

TRANSFER RUMOUR: FC BARCELONA CHASE COMPLICATED

DEAL FOR CHELSEA FC LOANEE JUAN CUADRADO

Barcelona are looking to pull off a very complicated transfer as they look to replace Dani Alves

with his current Juventus teammate, who is reportedly on a three-year loan from Chelsea.

  hhttp://www.thehardtackle.com/news/2016/10/31/transfer-rumour-fc-barcelona-

The Blaugrana are still looking for a player to replace right-back Dani Alves. Current first choice Sergi Roberto is not a natural full-back, while Aleix Vidal has fallen foul of Luis Enrique because of his controversial comments and refusal to play with the reserves and youth players.

The Barcelona manager is now weighing up a move for Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado, hoping to convert him into a full-back, according to GoalThe Colombian has played as a wing-back in the past and could be a good fit for the right-back role at the Nou Camp.

The 28-year-old has made only three starts for Juve this season. Barcelona, who are reportedly willing to offer €20 million, are hoping that his lack of game time will motivate him to try and force through a move to Spain.

However, the loan deal that brought him to Turin from Chelsea was one of the most complex transfers of the summer. Cuadrado is on a three-year loan deal, for which Juventus have to pay Chelsea €5 million per season. However, the Serie A club are obligated to buy the full registration rights from the Blues should he make a certain number of appearances. That would cost an additional €20 million, while Chelsea are also entitled to a further €4 million in performance-related bonuses.

Juan Cuadrado has not truly settled since joining the Blues from Fiorentina in the winter transfer window in 2015. He made 14 appearances for Chelsea that season, failing to find the back of the net. The Colombian was then sent on loan to Juventus, where he made 40 appearances in 2015-16.

The 28-year-old received the backing of new manager Antonio Conte when he returned to Chelsea this past summer, with the Italian stating that he would remain a part of the Blues squad. However, Cuadrado forced through a move to Juventus, where his contributions have been fairly significant despite starting from the bench on a regular basis.

Barcelona would be much better off chasing primary target Hector Bellerin, because the financial and legal details of Cuadrado’s current loan appear to be a convoluted mess that would be extremely difficult for the Liga giants to negotiate.

Cuadrado urges Juventus to remain focused

The Colombian winger wants his team-mates to keep their feet on the ground

following a strong start to the season, as they bid for a sixth straight Scudetto.

  http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2016/11/25/29889002/-?

Nov 25, 2016

Juan Cuadrado has cautioned against complacency as Serie A leaders Juventus prepare to take on Genoa on Sunday.

The reigning Italian champions beat Sevilla 3-1 away from home on Tuesday to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, while they hold a comfortable seven-point lead over second-placed Roma in the Serie A table.

Nevertheless, Cuadrado is adamant Massimiliano Allegri's team still have a long way to go this campaign.

"We must above all be calm and keep our heads on Sunday. We must not take anything granted and make sure we approach the game with controlled aggression and determination," Cuadrado told Mediaset.

"We picked up a brilliant result against Sevilla on Tuesday and we ticked off our first big objective of the season in reaching the competition's knockout round.

"But there is a lot of football still to be played and all we can do is take one step at a time, focusing only on winning each game as it comes and seeing what kind of position that puts us in towards the end of the campaign.

"Our daily goal is to work hard on the training ground and improve wherever we can; we are a top team and that means running the hard yards in every single session."

Cuadrado: 'I was born to smile'

http://www.football-italia.net/97861/cuadrado-i-was-born-smile

Feb 3, 2017

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado admits he was 'born to smile' and explained how this has helped him through difficult times.

The Colombian's father was murdered when he was just four-years-old, but the 28-year-old shows an ever-present positive outlook.

"Why do I always smile? I was made like this," Cuadrado told La Repubblica.

"And the fact of being Colombian helps because South Americans are cheerful in nature, Colombians most of all.

"The fact is that I lived during time when I learned to trust in smiling even in difficult times.

"Happiness is an affluence, although it doesn't always happen or sometimes it gets confused.

"I am very serious, but ever since I arrived in Italy they have told me I do not look like I am.

"But it is not the case if you listen to music, make jokes or if you smile when you're not thinking about the game.

"The Italians have a different culture, they are very concentrated it’s true, but Brazil have won five World Cups singing and dancing, right?

"Joy, thanks to God, is my way of dealing with the seriousness of life and getting out of difficult times."

The winger arrived in Italy with Udinese in 2009, which must have been a very different environment from his native country.

"Mamma mia it was cold in Udine, I had only known summer back in Colombia!

"And then I had to become a full-back, I had only played this position in the Colombian league that is different from here. I did not know anything tactically.

"But it was also nice to live through those moments, because I have always forced myself not to lose the joy and smile.

"I told myself that I was there to achieve the dream that I had begun to dream when I was five, and that in no way in this world would I go back.

"I resisted because I pray so much, most of my strength comes from faith in God."

Cuadrado: 'I enjoy new Juve system'

http://www.football-italia.net/97862/cuadrado-i-enjoy-new-juve-system

Feb 3, 2017

Juan Cuadrado admits he 'likes' Coach Massimilano Allegri's new attacking 4-2-3-1 formation, but 'what counts' is team spirit.

The former Fiorentina winger has found more playing time under the new system, but where is he up to personally?

"The time now is to mature, I have to play easier," Cuadrado continued after having discussed his happy outlook in La Repubblica.

"Allegri has insisted so much on this concept but the truth is that all the Coaches have told me this since I set foot in Italy, beginning with [Pasquale] Marino. He said ‘Juan, do the simple things’.

"But Allegri does not want me to lose my instinct. I have to handle this with intelligence, rather than over-thinking. To learn that it is important to be in our own half and it is important to be in the other. I apply this because I want to win a lot.

"Do I make my teammates laugh with singing and dancing? No, now the official DJ is Dani Alves.

"It was when we had [Paul] Pogba that we were studying music, dances, and celebrations. Paul and I were very good friends, we we often hear from each other.

"I am organising a friendly match between his friends and mine for this summer in Medellin, obviously for my foundation. Thanks to God, sooner or later we will do it."

How does Cuadrado feel about the new all-attacking 4-2-3-1 for Juventus?

"I like it more, but what counts is the attitude, the anger, and the team spirit. [Gonzalo] Higuain chasing down an opponent is a contagious example.

"What do I see in my future? My future is here now, it’s to win many things, then what follows only God knows.

"What will I be afterwards? Ah, I have already decided: I will teach life to my children, to the Foundation.

"When I stop, I will go back to Medellin and I dedicate myself full-time to them."

Cuadrado: Fantastic but lucky!

Cuadrado-1702-Int-goal-epa_0_0.jpg

hhttp://www.football-italia.net/98009/cuadrado-fantastic-lucky

Feb 6, 2017

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado says that while his goal against Inter was “fantastic”, it was also “a bit lucky”.

Cuadrado’s half-volley from outside the box just before half-time won Sunday’s Derby d’Italia, and the winger gave his take on his wonder strike, as well as urging Juve to keep going.

“It was a fantastic goal. Then I had a bit of luck because I had a 1/10 chance of scoring,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We all stay after training for more kicking and shooting practice, and this time I was lucky enough to take [my shot] well and I’m very happy because we got the

result, which is the most important thing.

“I think it’s a very important victory for us. Every game is important and we must keep trying to pick up results because we know the teams behind us are chasing us and we have to try to stay as far away from them as possible.”

‘Cuadrado prayed for Juventus return’

Juan Cuadrado’s mother reveals she “prayed every day” that the winger would be allowed to return to Juventus.

The Colombian international spent last season on loan in Turin, but new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was keen to keep him in England for this season.

Cuadrado himself, however, was desperate to return to Italy and moved on deadline day on loan with an obligation to buy.

“Chelsea? He kept smiling but I could see he was off,” Marcela Cuadrado told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It was a difficult period for him, the toughest of his career. This summer I was praying every day that he’d go back to Juve.

“I knew he’d get back to being the same as always in Turin.

“It’s a great group, and that’s why Juan wanted to come back. The fact there are a lot of other South Americans helps.

“He has a very strong link with the other Colombians who are in Italy, he often sees the Milanese [Carlos] Bacca and [Jeison] Murillo, and he can quite easily go and see [Luis] Muriel in Genoa, or he can come to us.

“His goal against Inter? When I saw the ball go in I thought ‘finally’. I had been waiting to see him celebrate.

“It was exciting, a beautiful goal. After the game I just hugged him and said ‘you were great’.”

The crucial role of Juan Cuadrado in Juventus’ starting lineup

The Importance of Juan Cuadrado to Allegri’s 4-2-3-1

Feb 16, 2017

Nearly a year ago in February of 2016, I wrote about how it was imperative that Juventus should sign Juan Cuadrado permanently. At the time, it was still unclear on what the parameters — if there were any — to buy back Cuadrado or redeem a clause to secure the Colombian permanently from Chelsea. Director general Beppe Marotta was adamant that Juventus would try their best to secure Cuadrado at the end of the season when he said this:

“He is on loan but for the squad and his tactical flexibility we really need him. He plays in a different way compared to all our other midfielders. Cuadrado could help us a lot and we are happy about his performances. We will try to hold on to him for the next campaign."

The season ended and the transfer market produced Dani Alves almost immediately after the conclusion of Juventus’ final game. Questions began to rise on whether Cuadrado would be needed along with the aforementioned Alves and Stephan Lichtsteiner, especially with Juventus’ reliance on the 3-5-2. With new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s admiration for the Colombian never been hidden, it just didn’t seem that it was in the cards for Cuadrado to return to Juventus Stadium this season.

Low and behold Cuadrado forced Chelsea’s hand and secured a three-year loan deal to return to Juventus for a fee of €5 million per year (I still cannot believe Chelsea agreed to this).

With the excitement of the preseason and the signings of Alves, Miralem Pjanic and a little known Argentinian forward (you’ve probably never heard of him), optimism was high that Juventus could achieve some much needed European glory this season. However, some lackadaisical results early on and some harsh defeats in which the team played substandard saw a need for change in formation. I wrote earlier in the season for a change in formation, stressing the importance of getting your best 11 players on the field at all times (turnover excluded) and playing attacking minded football which not only pins your opponent in their end but rests our aging defensive core (with the exception of Daniele Rugani).

In January, we saw Max Allegri switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation which has looked like this:

The formation has produced splendid results through the infancy of its use and the teams has definitely looked much better throughout the recent weeks then they have throughout the first half of the season, and despite the team only scoring an average of two goals throughout the use of the 4-2-3-1 system, the team has looked extremely dangerous going forward with a plethora of chances. One of the many reasons, and I stress many (cc: Mario Mandzukic work ethic), this formation has worked so far is the unpredictability of Cuadrado along the wing. His torrid runs not only down the right wing but through the center of the field have provided much needed creativity for a side that lacked spark and determination. The shift in formation has also allowed Cuadrado to shift his attention a little less on the defensive side and focus on his attacking exploits. This is not to say that the defensive awareness of the winger is neglected in this formation but the difference in being a winger in the 4-2-3-1 and 3-5-2 are drastically different.

One main reason Cuadrado has been able to keep his place in this formation is his ability to create scoring chances through his crossing ability. Something we have all seen Lichsteiner struggle with for six years as fans, and we have not had the pleasure of watching extended periods of Dani Alves in the 3-5-2 even though what we have seen has not been mindblowing so far.

Another reason Cuadrado has been able to keep his place in the teamsheet every week is his ability to cut down the middle of the field and twist defenders in a knot. A key example of this was his cheeky little flick against Milan in the Coppa Italia:

He is not a one-trick pony which we have seen from many wingers over the years who take the ball and dribble with their predominant foot to the outside every single time and curl in a cross like a chicken without a head.

Lastly, Cuadrado’s ability to shield the ball and draw fouls is a huge tactical plus. He has often been able reel the other teams defenders in when Juventus needs it the most or when the other team is pressing up the field. This is invaluable to any team as it halts the other teams progress and allows you to stretch the field offensively.

Only time will tell if Cuadrado keeps his place throughout the subsequent months of the season. An array of reasons can keep Juan stapled to the bench in the months to follow, most importantly, the potential explosion we have all been waiting for from Marko Pjaca, but haven’t been privy to because of injuries and Allegri’s known cautious approach with young players, but this is still just a theory and nothing concrete has emerged in this department. Right now, Juan is so important to this Juventus team and only a major dip in form, which we have seen before from Cuadrado can stop his name from being slotted into that teamsheet week in and week out, in not only Italy but in Europe.

Also, keep doing this Juan, and we can tolerate in dip in form here and then.

Cuadrado will never play for Chelsea again -
how his Juventus loan deal works

The Colombian winger was signed in an unusual arrangement that spreads

the Turin club's cost over many season, in what is not your typical loan deal.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/683/main/2017/04/12/34539522/-

Apr 12, 2017

Juan Cuadrado is on a three-year loan deal at Juventus from Chelsea and put in an impressive performance in Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League.

He was brought to Chelsea from Fiorentina in a £23 million deal under Jose Mourinho in the 2015 January transfer window, but failed to make an impact on the pitch, while he also struggled to settle in London.

Cuadrado spent last season on loan at Juventus before returning to Chelsea, with Antonio Conte keen to keep him at the club having initially tried to sign him when he was coach of the Serie A champions.

Current Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri had to be patient, though, in his attempts to re-sign Cuadrado, with the complexity of the deal and Conte's wishes delaying it until the final moments on transfer deadline day last summer.

Chelsea have no option to recall Cuadrado and his loan extends for the entire duration of his contract with the Stamford Bridge club. The deal will see Chelsea earn a minimum of £13 million through loan fees over the course of the three years but are likely to earn much more through bonus-activated fees related to Juventus' success on the pitch.

There is an extra £3.5 million that can be earned by Chelsea from Juventus performing well in Europe and their domestic competitions, but there is also a £10 million obligation to buy him, if Juventus win the Serie A title. His wages are also covered by Juventus, making him one of the best-paid players in Italy.

Chelsea may end up earning a £500,000 profit on Cuadrado's, so-called, loan move if all clauses are activated. This is on top of the £4 million fee they received last year for loaning him to Turin.

Cuadrado proved his quality at the Juventus Stadium against Barcelona but Conte can celebrate a good deal, despite losing a player who he has always rated.

Cuadrado unveils new Juventus kit

Juan Cuadrado accidentally unveiled the Juventus first choice shirt for the 2017-18 season, complete with new ‘J’ logo.

The Colombian posted a picture of himself standing in the kit this evening with the message: ‘Ready for tomorrow.’

Ahead of the Friday evening trip to Atalanta and Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final in Monaco, it’s possible Juve will be wearing their kit for next season.

Cuadrado was wearing the shirt with visible new logo in place of the old club badge.

On the other hand, it might've been posted in error by the winger and was not meant to be unveiled yet.

It looks as if this was a mistake, as he later deleted the tweet and posted another using the 'old' shirt.

Official: Juventus sign Cuadrado

http://www.football-italia.net/102973/official-juventus-sign-cuadrado

May 22, 2017

Juventus have officially confirmed the signing of Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

The winger had been on loan with the Bianconeri for the past two seasons, but there was an obligation to buy if certain results-based conditions were met.

“Juventus announces that, following the meeting of the conditions provided by the contract, its obligation to definitively acquire the registration rights of Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea became due,” a statement on the Old Lady’s website confirms.

“The permanent transfer fee of € 20 million is to be paid in three annual instalments starting from the 2017/2018 financial year.

“The 28-year-old forward has signed a contract that ties him to the Bianconeri until 30 June 2020.”

Arsenal bid for Cuadrado rejected

http://www.football-italia.net/104199/arsenal-bid-cuadrado-rejected

Jun 15, 2017

Juventus reportedly turned down a €20m offer from Arsenal for Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, but Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.

According to The Sun, a proposal has already been made and rejected from the Gunners this summer.

It’s believed the €20m (£17.6m) bid was considered too low, but that doesn’t mean Cuadrado is off the market.

Juve have already snapped up Patrik Schick and are in advanced negotiations with Bayern Munich for Douglas Costa.

This means they would be prepared to sell the Colombia international for approximately €34m (£30m).

If Spurs do get involved in a bidding war, then they could reach that figure and take Cuadrado back to the Premier League.

He struggled at Chelsea, unhappy with the atmosphere in England and style of football, so Juve bought him back for a €25m deal plus €4m bonuses, spread out over a number of years.

PSG interest in Cuadrado

http://www.football-italia.net/104304/psg-interest-cuadrado

Jun 17, 2017

Paris Saint-Germain have approached Juventus with a proposal for Juan Cuadrado, but the asking price is €30m.

According to Calciomercato.com, the French giants made some initial enquiries, as Cuadrado is no longer considered that important for Coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Beppe Marotta hinted that Juventus were “evaluating the situations of some players, for instance Mario Lemina, Stefano Sturaro, Cuadrado.”

If PSG do come forward, they will have to pay in the region of €30-35m for the Colombia international.

There had already been reports in The Sun that Arsenal saw their €20m offer for Cuadrado rejected earlier this week.

The Bianconeri paid a total €25m to sign him from Chelsea.

‘No truth in Cuadrado rumours’

http://www.football-italia.net/104490/no-truth-cuadrado-rumours

Jun 21, 2017

The agent of Juan Cuadrado insists the winger “doesn’t want to leave Juventus” and that the Bianconeri “don’t plan to sell him”.

Cuadrado has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Milan in the last few days, but Alessandro Lucci made it clear there was no truth to any of the speculation.

“Juan doesn’t want to leave Juve and Juve don’t plan to sell him, so all these supposed negotiations have no real basis,” he told GianlucaDiMarzio.

“That Cuadrado might interest other clubs, I don’t doubt it, but no-one has contacted me directly or started negotiations with Juve.”

Cuadrado: 'I want Juventus stay'

http://www.football-italia.net/104583/cuadrado-i-want-juventus-stay

Jun 22, 2017

Juan Cuadrado shrugged off Arsenal, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain speculation. “With God’s help, I’ll stay at Juventus” until 2020.

The Colombian is on international duty and spoke at a Press conference about his situation.

“I renewed my contract with Juventus until 2020 and, with God’s help, I will stay at Juventus,” said Cuadrado.

“This has always been my idea and my thought process, to stay here.”

Arsenal and PSG were linked with him, while Vincenzo Montella wants a former Fiorentina reunion at Milan.

Juve are believed to want at least €25m plus bonuses to release the 29-year-old.

Arsenal join Cuadrado chase

http://www.football-italia.net/105039/arsenal-join-cuadrado-chase

Jun 30, 2017

Arsenal have joined Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in asking for Juventus winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, it’s reported.

According to SNAI Sportnews in Italy, the Gunners are ready to give Cuadrado another chance in the Premier League and specifically in London.

The Colombia international struggled to make his mark at Chelsea after his €31m move from Fiorentina in February 2015.

He returned to Juventus on loan and then on a permanent basis in a deal worth around €25m plus bonuses.

Cuadrado dropped down the pecking order over the last few months and could be on the market.

The 29-year-old has already been linked with Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, but now Arsenal have also emerged as contenders.

It’s believed Juve would be prepared to sell Cuadrado for €25m.

Juventus offer Cuadrado for Manolas?

http://www.football-italia.net/105942/juventus-offer-cuadrado-manolas

Jul 18, 2017

Juventus are reportedly offering Juan Cuadrado in exchange for Kostas Manolas, but Roma aren’t keen.

The Bianconeri sold Leonardo Bonucci to Milan last week, leaving them a man down at centre-back.

It has been suggested that they’ll move for Manolas, and calciomercato.com reports they’re trying to sign the Greek defender without spending big money.

In order to lower the cost of the deal, they’re willing to offer Cuadrado to the Giallorossi, as his relationship with the club isn’t great.

The idea is to offer him as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, but the Lupi are reluctant to accept such a deal.

It’s believed they have a deal in place with Riyad Mahrez, and they’d rather raise money to finance a move for the Leicester City attacking midfielder.
