Juventus' new 2016-17 adidas away kits have officially arrived

Just a hint: It's kinda nice.

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2016/7/6/12105028/juventus-2016-17-away-kits-adidas

Jul 6, 2016

Wednesday, July 6, 2016, marks the day that most of Juventus' players will make their way to Vinovo to begin the first step in what many hope to be a wonderful season both domestically in Italy and on the European stage as well. It will also be known as the day that we've come to officially see what Juve players will be wearing away from home a good amount of the time.

Behond, your 2016-17 season Juventus away kit, one that is very easy on the eyes.

Oh man. That's nice. That's really, really nice.

Blue jerseys have been some of the nicer Juventus away kits in somewhat recent memory. The design, as is posted on Juventus' website, goes as follows: "Drawing inspiration from the club's own tradition, the new away kit was designed to emphasise the tight bond between Juventus and Italy and to recall the blue jersey worn during the UEFA Champions League in 95/96 season. Hence the idea of the blue colour for the away jersey with a reinterpretation of an all-time classic in a most innovative way."

That blue jersey brings back a lot of feelings for the older Juventini in the audience seeing as it's the last time Juventus has held the Champions League trophy above their heads after a final. Yep, lots of feelings.

Throw in basic white shorts like were the case in last season's home kit and you have something that is going to look slick come the first time they bust it out this upcoming season. Not bad for a second kit, I must say. The adidas folks have done quite good with this one, so a round of applause to them. More of these good options, not crappy ones.

Max Allegri names Juventus' first group

of players to arrive at preseason training

juventus-preseason-training-squad-max-allegri-2016-serie-a

Jul 6, 2016

Ladies and gentlemen, behold, the new season is almost upon us.

I say this not only because Juventus manager Max Allegri, via the club's official website, has announced the group of players who will be showing up for the first day of preseason training. All players will report to Juve's training facility at Vinovo, with the obvious absentees being those players who took part in the European Championship (or, like Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra, are still playing in the tournament). Also not there is midfielder Claudio Marchisio, who at last look is still on vacation with his family in Sardinia.

So now I'll stop rambling and looking at Marchisio's Instagram profile. Here's the list of players who Allegri will be screaming things at tomorrow's opening training session:

Alex Sandro
Kwadwo Asamoah
Alberto Cerri
Luca Coccolo
Mattia Del Favero
Anastasios Donis
Paulo Dybala
Hernanes
Grigoris Kastanos
Mario Lemina
Pol Lirola
Leonardo Loria
Roman Macek
Rolando Mandragora
Luca Marrone
Federico Mattiello
Neto
Stefano Padovan
Giulio Parodi
Roberto Pereyra
Carlo Pinsoglio
Miralem Pjanic
Lorenzo Rosseti
Daniele Rugani
Yoan Severin
Mame Baba Thiam
Joel Untersee
Mattia Vitale
Alessandro Vogliacco

As you can see, there are some names we know like Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani and new signing Miralem Pjanic. There's some former primavera players or youngsters signed over the last year or two who are back after loan spells, and other youngsters who will likely be a part of Juve's top youth squad come the start of the fall.

And surely, before it is all said and done this preseason, players will go back out on loan or even be sold off as Juventus' front office continues to shape the big team's roster before the season opener in August.

You know what the best part of this is? Juventus start preseason preparations on Wednesday. And that means we're just one day closer to the 2016-17 season actually beginning. Plus we'll have something other than transfer rumors to talk about — and that's always a good thing.

Jul 8, 2016

Footballers across Europe may be dreading pre-season but for Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra, reaching the Euro 2016 final has been a godsend in more ways than one.

The Juventus duo will have been granted an extended holiday following their exploits in France, but seeing off Germany in Thursday’s semi-final now has now added a few more days on to their return date.

And in their post-match interview, Pogba and Evra couldn’t hide their delight at delaying their return to Juventus.

"We have the pressure to return soon to Vinovo to run [in pre-season],” said Evra.

“It was important to win today to have another week. This is a little message to Mr. Allegri and our coaches. Another week. We played with this motivation!”

Higuain, Pjanic, Dybala, BBC - Juventus will have

a team even Barcelona & Madrid will fear

The Bianconeri have agreed personal terms with the Argentina international,

who represents the missing link in the Old Lady's pursuit of Champions League .

Jul 15, 2016

To this day, Napoli supporters sing songs about Diego Maradona. A particular favourite goes, "O, Mamma, Mamma, Mamma, do you know why my heart is thumping? I saw Maradona, I saw Maradona. Now I'm in love."

They sang it again after the final game of last season - but with a twist. The name of one Argentine idol had been replaced with that of another: Gonzalo Higuain. It was easy to understand why. Higuain had just scored a hat-trick against Frosinone and, in doing so, he had done something nobody - not even Maradona - had done before: break Gunnar Nordahl's goals record for a single Serie A season (35).

However, Higuain is now set to do something else that Maradona never did: leave Napoli for another Italian team.

In 1990, after Maradona had led the Partenopei to a second Scudetto in three years, he was approached by Silvio Berlusconi, the president of his club's great rivals, AC Milan.

The No.10 even agreed to meet with the future Prime Minister of Italy. He was offered 10 billion lire a year (€5.2m) to move to San Siro. However, Maradona told Berlusconi, "I will never play for a team in Italy that is not Napoli. I cannot betray the expectations that the Napoli fans have of me."

Berlusconi, unsurprisingly, has a different take on why the proposed deal never materialised. "I almost signed Maradona but he had become Napoli’s captain and I don’t buy [other clubs'] captains," he claimed. Both men's memories of that meeting cast them in a favourable, noble light but the reality is that they probably just couldn't come to an agreement over money.

gonzalo-higuain-serie-a-stats_1lsj7y1hsu

At the end of the day, in Italian football, when money talks, a player walks. That is why Higuain is on the verge of moving to Turin. The 28-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Bianconeri and Juve must now either meet the striker's buyout clause of approximately €94 million or agree a player-plus-cash deal with Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis, with Roberto Pereyra and Daniel Rugani already being touted as possible makeweights in a deal that would have far-reaching consequences.

Indeed, the reigning champions acquiring the current capocannoniere would render the Serie A title race a foregone conclusion. That is a given. Juve have won the last five Scudetti. They ultimately won last season's despite giving everyone else a six-point head start, after losing their first two league games for the first time ever.

Of course, there are no certainties in football but when it comes to scoring goals in Serie A, Higuain is as close to a guarantee as one can get. He has struck 71 times in just 104 appearances in Italy's top flight. He is thus the answer to Juve's search for a prolific No.9.

The Bianconeri haven't had a capocannoniere winner within their ranks since Alessandro Del Piero netted 21 goals during the 2007-08 season. However, Juve's objective is no longer domestic domination. They want to conquer Europe. With Higuain on board, that would be an entirely achievable target.

As Euro 2016 underlined, the Bianconeri boast the best backline in the world, one that is only going to be strengthened by the imminent arrival of Medhi Benatia from Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, the addition of Miralem Pjanic to a squad containing Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira means that Massimiliano Allegri will be in a position to field a high-energy midfield of both imposing power and subtle craft.

As for the attack, the prospect of Paulo Dybala working in tandem with compatriot Higuain is one that will strike fear to defences across Europe - and not just Italy.

Indeed, if Juve manage to persuade Pogba to remain in Turin for one more year - and the Frenchman will be excited by the prospect of playing behind the best No.9 in Serie A - they will have a starting 11 to rival any side in Europe, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Losing Alvaro Morata was a blow for the Bianconeri. The Spanish striker was a player of enormous potential. However, he was not yet the finished article. Higuain is – and that is why the hearts of Juve fans are thumping right now.

As part of the event, the Lega Serie A also awarded Gonzalo Higuain with the best goal of 2015-16 for his overhead kick against Frosinone.

That strike allowed the Napoli striker to shatter the Serie A record with 36 in 35 games.

It opens with two spectacular clashes, as Juventus-Fiorentina is an age-old rivalry and Milan-Torino sees Sinisa Mihajlovic face his former club.

Italian Super Cup on Dec 23?

http://www.football-italia.net/88219/italian-super-cup-dec-23

Jul 23, 2016

The Italian Super Cup between Juventus and Milan could take place in Abu Dhabi on December 23.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the SuperCoppa Italiana strategy is taking form.

Usually this game, between the Serie A and Coppa Italia victors, is played over the summer, but international tours mean in recent years it has been moved to the Christmas break.

Last season Juve did the Double, winning both the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, so the Super Cup will be against Coppa Finalists Milan.

In December 2014 Juventus lost to Napoli on penalties after a 2-2 draw in Doha, while last August the Bianconeri beat Lazio 2-0 in Shanghai.

Capello: 'Juve top four in Europe'

http://www.football-italia.net/88268/capello-juve-top-four-europe?

Jul 24, 2016

Fabio Capello believes Juventus “are among the top four in Europe” after signing Gonzalo Higuain and can “do without” Paul Pogba.

The Bianconeri have been very active on the transfer market this summer, bringing in Miralem Pjanic, Medhi Benatia, Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves.

Yesterday they also told Napoli that they’re ready to activate Higuain’s release clause for over €90m.

“If they decided to get Higuain, it’s because they thought carefully and realised they needed a player like that,” Capello told La Stampa newspaper.

“Seeing as at Juve they pay close attention to the value of players and possible exchanges, they also know that in the middle of the park they can do without Pogba.

Maybe not in terms of power, but when it comes to quality yes.

“I’d say it’s clear Juventus are working towards winning the Champions League. If before they were fighting to be among the top four in Europe, now they are right in there.

“After that, winning the tournament also requires good luck.”

The Bianconeri have already been dominant in Serie A with five consecutive League titles, so is there any point to the others playing now?

“It was already pointless before, even without Higuain,” smiled Capello. “The truth is that Juve started early and are continuing to gain an advantage over all their rivals.”

Can Juve see Higuain as the kind of buy Capello’s Roma made with Gabriel Batistuta?

“No, absolutely not. They were different eras and competitions. At Roma we were lacking a hitman to win Serie A, but here we’re talking about winning the Champions League.”

Spalletti: 'Juventus did nothing new'

http://www.football-italia.net/88306/spalletti-juventus-did-nothing-new

Jul 25, 2016

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti says Juventus were already 'extremely strong' and that he doesn't understand people who criticise them.

The Bianconeri stole both Miralem Pjanic from Roma and, more recently, Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli. Although the latter move is not official yet, it has already sparked protests by the fans.

“Juventus, with Higuain, become what they already were: extremely strong,” Spalletti said from Boston, as reported by Calciomercato.it. “I don't understand all this talk.

“Juventus in the past sold some great players, who were then replaced. Likewise for Napoli, and for Roma, who was forced to make some sales. Juventus remain very powerful whether they have [Paul] Pogba or not, whether they have Higuain or not.”

The Lupi seem rather stunted by comparison with Juventus this year, and many believe there will be no Scudetto race worth speaking of.

“When you [journalists] speak of objectives, you start making up limits, but you're the ones who are limited. We want to win every game.

“Let's start again from the end of last season and let's find that strength, that discipline in the team's behaviour that we had at the end. Finding that level of football with continuity represents the real leap in quality.

“We have a complete squad but of course we can add more to the team's strength by signing quality players. We're probably going to look for and find another defender, because that's how it's supposed to be.

“But these are all bonuses because we have already completed our squad. We're fine with all the doors of danger remaining open. That's part of the game.”

'Inter aren't scared of Juve'

http://www.football-italia.net/88317/inter-arent-scared-juve?

Jul 25, 2016

Inter's Piero Ausilio says that 'he's not scared by Juventus' but admits the deal for Lazio's Antonio Candreva is difficult.

The sporting director was intercepted by the Press today as he boarded the plane that would take him to the United States, where his team is currently based.

“Juve were already strong and they reinforced themselves with some great players,” Ausilio admitted to FcInterNews.it. “But I'm looking within our own walls. I'm not scared by the fact that Juventus signed Higuain. We know we're lacking something, but also that we signed many good players.

‘When Roma have our stadium…’

http://www.football-italia.net/88329/‘when-roma-have-our-stadium…’

Jul 25, 2016

Roma President James Pallotta says the gap to Juventus will reduce “when we have our stadium”.

The Bianconeri signed Miralem Pjanic from the Lupi this summer, as well as taking Medhi Benatia, Marko Pjaca and, imminently, Gonzalo Higuain.

“It seems that sometimes people just don’t want to understand: Juventus have more revenue than us, they can spend more money than us,” Pallotta pointed out in an interview with Sky.

“We can’t do it, there are rules about investment. When we have our stadium, the gap will be reduced and we’ll enter the top 10 in Europe.”

Francesco Totti has been given a new one-year contract, but Coach Luciano Spalletti has hinted he could even play on for another season.

“From what he’s told me, this will be Totti’s last year. I’m not sure though, we’ll see. The other day he told me he wants to be a Coach too.”

Gattuso ‘fed up’ of Juve winning

http://www.football-italia.net/88439/gattuso-‘fed-up’-juve-winning?

Jul 27, 2016

Former Milan player Gennaro Gattuso admits to being ‘fed up’ of Juventus’ domination of Italian football.

The ex-Rossoneri midfielder, now Coach at Pisa, added that the Old Lady’s challengers should look to the example of Leicester City in last year’s English Premier League as they attempt to topple Max Allegri’s team.

“I hope it is more enjoyable,” Gattuso said of the upcoming Serie A season. “Both I and a lot of supporters are fed up of seeing Juventus winning. Look at the miracle of Leicester, even though in the long term quality shines through.

“Juve, Napoli and Roma: I would say that we could put them in that order.”

Sarri: 'Juve will suffer against Napoli' .oddio

http://www.football-italia.net/88444/sarri-juve-will-suffer-against-napoli

Jul 28, 2016

Maurizio Sarri has 'no envy' for Juventus and promises 'they'll have an impossible match against Napoli'.

The 2016/17 championship appears to have been killed off in its crib after the Bianconeri signed the biggest stars from their most direct rivals, Roma's Miralem Pjanic and the Partenopei's Gonzalo Higuain.

Even so, Sarri would not content himself with reaching second place.

“I wouldn't sign for it, not for a second,” he told Il Corriere dello Sport. “Last year keeping up with Juve's rhythm was almost impossible, so we have no regrets. But we're starting from scratch now and I won't sign for anything.

“Those who start from behind in the championship know that they must not sell false dreams, but they do have to believe in themselves. Even the favourites can make mistakes.

“There are going to be 38 games and I can promise you that Juventus will have an extremely difficult, almost impossible one, on April 2 at the Stadio San Paolo."

Sarri was also asked whether he felt any envy towards the Old Lady's Coach Max Allegri.

“It's hardly a noble sentiment, and it doesn't belong to me. I'm happy to be here and I'm happy about the path I walked to get here.

“I do the job I like with the team that I always supported. I'm the one who is in an enviable condition. And white and black don't really look good on me.”

Napoli will, in any case, have something to look forward to as they have qualified for Champions League football.

“It already seems hard to believe that we're in it. I suspect that I'll waver a little when I hear the jingo. But then I'll think of the match, obviously.”

‘Juve a level above’

http://www.football-italia.net/88468/‘juve-level-above’

Jul 28, 2016

Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy admits Juventus’ ability to sign world class players puts them a level above their rivals.

The Old Lady have signed Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, their nearest challengers last season, in addition to former Giallorossi man Miralem Pjanic during this summer’s transfer window.

“I think that Juve are a level above everyone, they have had a very significant transfer window and bought world class players,” El Shaarawy remarked to Sport Mediaset.

However, the 23-year-old indicated that he has faith in his side to push Juve for the Scudetto.

“We are aware of how strong they are, but we had a great second half of the season and we need to build on that.

“We need to look to win all of our matches. Juventus will start strong, but we are a strong group and have great quality.

“We will do what we can and see what the results are.”

Juve could walk to Serie A title again - Eriksson

The acquisitions of Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Dani Alves has set the Bianconeri up for another season of domination, according to the ex-Lazio coach.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2016/07/29/26043302/-?

Jul 29, 2016

Sven-Goran Eriksson fears Juventus are set to continue their domination of Serie A, though he hopes a team can challenge them to the title in 2016-17.

After winning a fifth consecutive Scudetto, the Bianconeri have lured last season's league top goalscorer Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli for €90 million.

The Argentine's transfer follows on from the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Roma, while Dani Alves, Medhi Benatia and Marko Pjaca have also linked up with Massimiliano Allegri's team.

While Eriksson acknowledged the growing gap between Juve and their rivals, the 68-year-old Swede - who guided Lazio to Serie A success in 2000 - believes it might not be all black and white.

"It might be a one-horse race, like it has been for so many years," Eriksson - now in charge of Chinese Super League juggernaut Shanghai SIPG - said in an interview with Omnisport.

"Juventus are outstanding but I think the Italian league will become better and better.

"You always hope Inter, Milan, the two big clubs in Rome and Napoli they will challenge Juventus for the title. Who knows?"

Arturo Vidal: Juventus can challenge

but Bayern Munich remain ahead

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/italian-serie-a/story/2919980/arturo-vidal-

juventus-can-challenge-but-bayern-munich-remain-ahead

Jul 29, 2016

Arturo Vidal says he is impressed with the work being done at his former club Juventus, although he believes his current employers Bayern Munich are still a step ahead.

The Bianconeri have added Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, Marko Pjaca, Medhi Benatia and Dani Alves to their squad already this summer in a bid to transform their domestic dominance into success in Europe.

Having reached the final of the Champions League two seasons ago, and having lost only narrowly to Bayern in the round-of-16 last term, they are bidding to get their hands on Europe's ultimate club prize and Vidal believes they have got a chance.

"They've become really competitive," the Chilean said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. "They've signed loads of really good players and now they are undoubtedly on the level of the other top clubs. They can challenge for the Champions League.

"But my Bayern are the best side in the world, better even than Juve were when I was there. That's why we want to win as many titles as possible. [Coach Carlo] Ancelotti and this group are enough for us to become number one in Europe."

Vidal left Turin to return to the Bundesliga a year ago and while he admitted that he does miss Italy a little, he does not regret making a switch to a club where he feels he has an even greater chance of glory.

"I had four beautiful years in Italy and I've still got lots of friends there, but my wife is happy in Munich, where we've started a new life now," Vidal said. "It's hard to imagine [going back] for the simple reason that I'm happy in Munich, and Bayern are everything I could wish for.

"Ancelotti is a great coach -- one of the best in the world -- and I'm delighted that he's here."

With the 2016-17 Serie A campaign quickly approaching, it subsequently marks the end of another season. No, not transfer season. We still have another month or so of that nonsense and the rumors that come with it. What I’m talking about is something that also has a decent amount of rumors attached to it.

That would be kit unveiling season.

With Juve’s home and away kits already released, there was only one more step to go in the three-uniform setup. That would be the seldom-used third kit, one that Juventus only sported on a handful of occasions in their first season with the three-striped sports outlet that just so happens to use the same bianconero color scheme. So, behold, your new Juventus third kit for the 2016-17 season...

JUVENTUS MARKETING KINGPIN HERNANES. BEWARE, REST OF EUROPE.

Proving the leaked images of a few months ago right again, I guess this shouldn’t exactly be a surprise to many of you as to what Hernanes is donning above. While it’s rather interesting that Juve’s third kit consists of the same two colors that the home kit has, I would like to think something with a little character to it would be appreciated a little more than just something a little more....blasé.

The jersey release, just like last season, had an accompanying video that didn’t really make much sense at all. It could have been worse, though. Remember last season when adidas had an old-ish lady revving up a big chainsaw and chopping right through the center of a stuffed bear? Yeah, that was a little odd.

So good on adidas for not doing that again.

I just feel like I’ve seen something like this 2016-17 third kit before...

Ah, that’s right. I have seen this before. Although that had the Nike swoosh on it. This has, well, the adidas logo and a Scudetto patch. And a Coppa Italia patch. And three stars above the Juventus crest instead of just two. And is designed with much more tolerable colors. So, yeah, I like this one better.

Nainggolan: 'Juventus strong, but...'

http://www.football-italia.net/88544/nainggolan-juventus-strong

Jul 30, 2016

Roma's Radja Nainggolan admits 'Juventus did well on the market, but the championship is won with continuity'.

The Belgian lost his star partner Miralem Pjanic to the Bianconeri, and will now have an even greater responsibility in the midfield.

“I'm feeling well, I'm improving on the condition that I lost in my free time,” Nainggoland tol Roma Radio. “I came across players who want to do something for the team, like [Leandro] Paredes, who left us and returned with greater maturity.

“Playing for a team like Roma, it's understandable that the environment should be tough. The quality of our players is high.

“Every time I've taken to the pitch I've always given it my all, and this is appreciated. Maybe people like my style too, it's always good to have a relationship with the fans.

“Seeing a stadium like ours go empty isn't nice. The results in the second half of last season were good, but they would have been even better with them [the fans].”

Nainggolan was then asked whether the conclusion of the championship was foregone, now that Juventus had stolen Pjanic from Roma and Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli.

“If you look at the squad list alone, then we should have picked up six points against Verona last year. Juventus had a great market campaign, but in the end the winner is the team with the greatest continuity.

“In the last few years they've always been ahead. If we start off well, then you never know where we could make it.

“Our number one objective is to pass the play-offs for the Champions League. We'll need everyone, and especially the fans, who give us an extra boost.”

Juan Jesus: ‘Juventus not unbeatable’

http://www.football-italia.net/88591/juan-jesus-‘juventus-not-unbeatable’

Jul 31, 2016

Roma defender Juan Jesus doesn’t think Juventus are unbeatable - “football is 11 v 11”.

The Bianconeri have signed Miralem Pjanic from the Giallorossi this summer, as well as securing last season’s Serie A top-scorer Gonzalo Higuain.

That has led to suggestions that the Scudetto race could be a procession, but the Brazilian doesn’t see it that way.

“Football is 11 v 11,” Jesus noted, speaking to Il Messaggero.

“I won 3-1 at Juventus with Inter when they had a very strong team while we had a normal one. What counts is who has more character and isn’t afraid.

“We have a good squad, we can do great things.

“Who else could challenge? Napoli, because [Maurizio] Sarri has worked very well in getting the best out of them.”

Salah: 'Harder this season'

http://www.football-italia.net/88625/salah-harder-season

Aug 1, 2016

Mohamed Salah admits it's going to be harder for Roma this season: 'But even against Juventus, it's 11v11'.

The Giallorossi stand alongside Napoli as the main challengers to take the Scudetto away from the Bianconeri, although both saw their star players stolen by the Italian champions.

“The team is working well, everyone is focused,” Salah told Roma Radio. “We want to do well this year, for ourselves and for the club.

“We want to do something satisfying and this year it's going to be harder. That's why the levels of concentration are so high.

“Juventus are an excellent team, but we're always playing 11 versus 11 and I think we can still do something important.

“The teammate who impressed me the most? I have an excellent relationship with everyone and it wouldn't be fair to name just one person.”

Roma picked up some popularity in Egypt, not least because of Salah's signing.

“That's something that makes me very proud, and that's why I always try to give it my all in my job, so I can make everyone happy.”

Tardelli: ‘Higuain-Dybala perfect’

http://www.football-italia.net/88651/tardelli-‘higuain-dybala-perfect’

Aug 2, 2016

Marco Tardelli calls Juventus forwards Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala “a perfect partnership”.

The Bianconeri have signed last season’s Serie A top-scorer from Napoli, and he’s expected to partner last season’s revelation, Dybala, in the coming campaign.

“What does Higuain bring to Juve?” Tardelli considered in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Goals. Lots of goals. But look out, Higuain is not [Mario] Mandzukic. Mandzukic has been a key man, he’s the first to press. He attacks everyone, which allows the team to win position on the pitch.

“Higuain is a different striker, he’s the last attacker. We’re talking about a champion though, one who allows you to aim for the Champions League.

“Higuain-Dybala? A perfect partnership. Many liken them to [David] Trezeguet-[Alex] Del Piero, but I disagree. They’re four great strikers, but different from each other.

“Higuain and Dybala are perfect on paper because, in addition to sticking the ball in the net, Pipita is good at providing assists with his South American feet.

“Plus they’re both from Argentina.”

Paul Pogba is expected to leave for Manchester United, but Tardelli doesn’t think that will be a hammer-blow for the Old Lady.

“They’d be losing a great player, but earning a lot of money. It’s something they can withstand.

“Should Dybala get his number 10 shirt? He has to wear it. The lad has the right attitude, he has quality and personality in industrial doses. The number 10 shirt belongs to him.

“The sale of Alvaro Morata? He’s been replaced well. No problem.

“As for Marko Pjaca, he has talent but I’ll wait to make a definitive judgement. Some time ago they said Balotelli was a champion and would change football, but Mario hasn't changed anything. Football changed him.”

Gianluigi Buffon has two years remaining in his career, but when he retires the former midfielder believes he must have a role at the club.

“Buffon is one of those who Juve must not run away from when he stops playing. The Bianconeri can’t repeat the mistake they made with Del Piero, or that Milan did with Paolo Maldini.”

Finally, Tardelli was asked about the goals for the upcoming season.

“There is no rival in Serie A for Juventus. In the Champions League though, there’s high profile competition.

“Dani Alves? I find the signing of the Brazilian particularly important. Dani Alves won everything with Barcelona, he’ll help Juve overcome the difficult moments that often occur in the Champions League.”

Trezeguet: CL so important for Juve

http://www.football-italia.net/88798/trezeguet-cl-so-important-juve

Aug 4, 2016

Former Juventus man David Trezeguet says it is ‘so important’ that the Old Lady win the Champions League soon.

The Bianconeri have been totally dominant in recent Italian domestic football, winning five consecutive Scudetti and two consecutive League and cup doubles.

However, in an interview with Mediaset, the 38-year-old highlighted the significance of the Turin club adding European success to their supremacy at home.

“The Champions League is Juventus’ greatest target, they want to win that trophy,” Trezeguet commented. “It is so important, not just for the club but for the fans and players.

“They have made a very important signing in Higuain. All Juventini expect the maximum from a great player like him.”

Best Bet for Serie A champions

Who will win the Scudetto in the coming season?

http://www.football-italia.net/88658/best-bet-serie-champions

Aug 5, 2016

The 2015-16 Serie A Championship was another great campaign in the history of Italian football.

Carpi made their debut in the top flight as did Frosinone after coming second in Serie B, while Bologna won the play-off and returned to the top-flight after only one season outside Serie A. It was also the first season of Serie A football to use goal-line technology, two seasons after the English Premier League. Adriano Galliani joint-CEO of Milan, had been a vocal advocate for the implementation of the technology after a number of controversial ghost goals during previous seasons. In March, Gianluigi Buffon went for 974 minutes without conceding a goal, beating Sebastiano Rossi’s previous record of 929 minutes. The Juventus and Italy captain then went onto have an impressive Euro 2016 tournament before the Azzurri went out on penalties to Germany. At the other end of the pitch, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain equalled Gino Rossetti’s record by scoring 36 goals, becoming Capocannoniere in the process.

Looking ahead to the 2016-17 season, Juventus will be looking to make history and win their sixth consecutive Scudetto. The Bianconeri are currently the best bet for Serie A Champions and the Old Lady has looked unstoppable in recent years.

A huge factor in Juventus’ season will be the future of midfielder Paul Pogba. The French midfielder is currently linked with a return to his former club Manchester United, if the move comes off there is no doubt he will be a huge miss to the current champions. However the Red Devils are set to bid over £100million for Pogba, which would certainly allow for some quality players to come in with the transfer fee reinvested through the club, adding to the arrival of Higuain from Napoli.

Speaking of Higuain, the Argentinian striker’s impressive goal tally certainly contributed to Napoli finishing in second place in the league and only nine points behind Juventus. They were successful in making San Paolo into a fortress through the season where they beat Juventus 2-1. The departure of Higuain might also act as a catalyst for Napoli to seek revenge in the coming 2016-17 season as they endeavour to win their first Scudetto since the days of Maradona.

Vialli: 'Juve mentality must be created'

http://www.football-italia.net/88859/vialli-juve-mentality-must-be-created?

Aug 6, 2016

Gianluca Vialli discusses how the Juventus mentality is created, and remembers his team's win in the Champions League.

The 52-year-old was with the Old Lady from 1992 to 1996, where he won at one point just about every trophy that he could play for, from the Scudetto and the Champions League to the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa and the UEFA Cup.

“Success comes from the culture you create in your organisation,” Vialli said, in the podcast 'The Big Interview with Graham Hunter'. “To wear the Juventus shirt is an honour, but it's also very heavy. The culture is that you never give up and go to the final whistle.

“You must prepare so that you can carry this claim on your shoulders. You need to be humble, play with pride but also aggression.

“We were the best at preparing ourselves. Everyone did the same thing. We trained two or three times a day. We all had individual gym programmes. It became a competition to see who could get to the gym first.

“I turned up at 6.45 a.m. one day, thinking: 'I'll be first!' Angelo Di Livio was there, saying: 'Bad luck, Luca!' It was a great environment and Marcello Lippi was my Messiah. He made us feel in control.

“When we were walking down the tunnel before a game, I remember looking at opponents and thinking: I'm not scared, you must be scared.”

The former striker also discussed the tactical dimension of Juventus under then Coach Marcello Lippi.

“Pressure is when one player does it to an individual opponent. Pressing is when a number of players do it together, and it becomes even more effective.

“A manager also tries to find the right balance in the side, so you need to convince the strikers to help the rest of the team to defend, and the defenders to be the first attackers.

“Lippi's ability to convince us that we needed to work for each other, with and without the ball, made us a very balanced team.

“The only way you can play with three strikers -- which we did at Juventus -- is if the three work really hard, and become the first defenders. We took pride in winning the ball from defenders.

“We wanted to run more than them. We wanted to make it physical as well as mental and we came out on top. Behind us we had Didier Deschamps, Antonio Conte and Paulo Sousa, three guys with brain, heart, legs and skills.”

Juventus now have tremendous pressure on themselves to win the Champions League, and Vialli was in a similar situation back in 1995-96.

“The only European Cup the club had won was a tragedy,” he said, in reference to the Heysel disaster in 1985. “They really wanted a European Cup trophy with happy memories. We were extremely motivated to win it for ourselves but also for the fans.

“Just before we played Real Madrid in the second leg of the quarterfinal, I spoke to the Juventus managing director. My contract was due to run out at the end of the season and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I thought about coming to England, but I also thought it would be nice to get a new contract at Juventus.

“The managing director said he wanted to keep me and they would offer a fifth of what I was earning! Which was a way of saying: 'Ciao!' I was angry and super motivated to prove to them that it was a big mistake to let me go. We beat Real Madrid 2-0 to go through to the semifinal. I remember crying after the second-leg match, and it was relief, not joy.

“Then, I remember the five days in Rome before the final. It was a difficult time because I knew it was my last game for the club, my second European Cup final and probably my last chance to win it. We won it on penalties. I didn't take one. We only took four. I would have been the sixth one.”

‘Not just Juventus for Scudetto’

http://www.football-italia.net/88945/‘not-just-juventus-scudetto’

Aug 8, 2016

Italy CT Giampiero Ventura doesn’t think Juventus will walk away with Serie A - “there will certainly be some surprises”.

The Bianconeri have won the Scudetto for the past five seasons in a row, and this summer they’ve added the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Medhi Benatia.

“Everyone says Juventus are on a different planet,” Ventura noted as he visited Roma’s Trigoria training ground.

“I’d be cautious though. It’s true that they took Higuain, but they’ve lost Pogba. The Bianconeri also took Pjanic and Benatia, but in the Italian League I’ve never seen a team start and win just because they have the strongest squad.

“There will certainly be some surprises and it will be an exciting season.”
