Juventus have revealed their home kit for the 2017-18 campaign, complete with the club’s new badge.

The shirt went on official sale on Wednesday for a price of €89.95 and marks a throwback to the 1950s, with its completely-black rear.

The black-and-white stripes are also consistent in their thickness, while the Adidas logo is gold, along with the three stars above the ‘J’ emblem, and a buttoned, Henley collar is sported.

Finally, the shorts are white with Adidas’ trademark, three stripes on either side, whereas the socks are all-white.

The launch comes after Juan Cuadrado accidentaly leaked the kit on his Twitter account in April.

Juve fans demand club’s ‘respect’

Jun 23, 2017

A group of Juventus fans have demanded the club to show them “respect” in response to a general increase in season ticket prices.

Although a few season tickets have lowered in price for next season, more have been made costlier, prompting banners to be put up outside the club’s stadium.

“You can be a top team, respecting the fans!” read one.

Another noted: “Bayern’s curva: €140 a year, megaphones, drums and 1000s of banners!”

The Bianconeri have endured a difficult June after being heavily beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League Final and summoned to a FIFA investgation over Paul Pogba’s world-record return to Manchester United last summer.

Ancelotti: 'Competitive Champions'

http://www.football-italia.net/105482/ancelotti-competitive-champions

Jul 9, 2017

Carlo Ancelotti believes the Champions League will “be more competitive than ever” with Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG.

The Bayern Munich boss has won trophies in all five major European Leagues, as well as the Champions League for Milan and Real Madrid.

“I dream of lifting the Champions League for a fourth time,” he told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

“The tournament will be tougher than ever this time around for a series of reasons. There will be the return of the big English clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, the desire of Barcelona and Bayern Munich to get back on track, Juventus eager to finally lift that trophy after so many lost Finals and above all the idea of a Real Madrid hat-trick.

“The objective for all of these sides, including Paris Saint-Germain, is at least the semi-final. They all need to be part of Europe’s top four.”

Bayern Munich went out in controversial fashion in the quarter-finals against Real Madrid.

“We were criticised in Germany for the elimination, but Victor Kassai did most of it…” said Ancelotti of the Hungarian referee.

Juventus lost the Final 4-1 to Real Madrid, crumbling in the second half in Cardiff.

“They were on the same level as Real before half-time, then you saw the difference in technique. Some suggested Juve lost because they didn’t have the options off the bench that Madrid had, but you win Finals with starters, not substitutes.

“Zinedine Zidane did something extraordinary, as winning two Champions League Finals in your first two years as a Coach was fantastic. He is in sync with the group.

“Paulo Dybala is a very good player, but to be placed behind Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. I repeat: behind. Juventus remain the favourites for the Scudetto, but Inter and Milan are getting closer.”

Ancelotti cast his eye over another of his former clubs, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.

“Conte will be forced to change something, as he won the Premier League using practically the same players all the time. In the Champions League, he’ll need to buy a lot and buy well.”

Juventus cancel Mexico friendlies

http://www.football-italia.net/105594/juventus-cancel-mexico-friendlies

Jul 11, 2017

Juventus have cancelled their planned friendlies in Mexico against Monterrey and Tigres on July 18 and 19 respectively.

The Bianconeri had originally announced their participation in the SuperCopa Tecate 2017 several weeks ago.

However, a change in schedule meant the Turin giants could no longer take part.

“Juventus extends its apologies to Tecate, supporters and both Monterrey and Tigres, to whom it wishes successful seasons and whom it hopes to meet in the future,” read a statement.

“At the same time, Juventus thanks Tecate – a regional partner of strategic importance for the development of the Bianconeri brand in Mexico – for the opportunity provided by this event and will work towards future initiatives, already under consideration, dedicated to Juve fans in Mexico.”

Zeman demands Juve boycott  sefz

http://www.football-italia.net/106185/zeman-demands-juve-boycott

Jul 23, 2017

Zdenek Zeman has called for a boycott of Juventus’ stadium due to the venue continuing to exhibit 35 top-flight titles.

Juve were stripped of their 2004-05 and 05-06 titles due to their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal 11 years ago, but the successes are still paraded at the newly-renamed Allianz Stadium.

“A normal thing would be to intervene and not play there,” the veteran Coach, who is a well-known critic of the Bianconeri, told Corriere della Sera.

“I always try to respect the rules and decisions of others. When I was banned for three months, I accepted it without saying anything.

“I just said that the system was wrong, but those who thought the same as me later took sides with it.

“Clearly this affair penalised me, but I don’t regret it.

“I had offers from both Real Madrid and Barcelona, but I decided to go down different routes.

“It’s enough that France Football has put me among the 30 most important Coaches in history.” :|  :261:

Juventus 1 - Barcelona 2: Initial reaction

and random observations

There was a game played. Things happened.

Juventus is back — and that’s what matters most.

https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2017/7/23/16015156/juventus-barcelona

-2017-international-champions-cup-final-score-result-initial-reaction

Jul 23, 2017

There is no real expectations when it comes to preseason friendlies — especially the first one. The team has only been training for a couple of weeks, even fewer amount of days as a full group due to various international team commitments. It’s pretty much the same kind of situation every summer that so many high-level European coaches have to deal with and something that can throw a little bit of a wrinkle into preseason preparations.

And then you saw the starting lineup Max Allegri rolled out.

Shockingly, a very meh starting lineup didn’t play all that well against a still somewhat full-strength Barcelona on Saturday night in New Jersey. It’s almost like having Stefano Sturaro match up against Neymar on one wing is a supreme advantage for one team and not the other, huh? But that is what the folks at MetLife Stadium got to see.

So it goes. Neymar did Neymar things, scoring a first half brace and making the right side of the Juventus lineup look like absolute fools at times.

But let’s not freak out just yet because Neymar made Juve’s mostly second-string lineup look a fool.

  • Arguably both of Juventus’ best central defenders weren’t starting.
  • Both of Juventus’ projected starting fullbacks, Mattia De Sciglio and Alex Sandro, didn’t start, either.
  • Sturaro and Lemina playing as two of the three in the 4-2-3-1 was just freakin’ hilarious.
  • Douglas Costa didn’t start. Paulo Dybala didn’t start. Gonzalo Higuain didn’t start. Miralem Pjanic didn’t start.
  • You probably get the point by now.
  • But here’s one more point: Most importantly, it’s July 22nd.

As much as it’s the whole “OH MY GOD IT’S JUVENTUS PLAYING BARCELONA” effect, this isn’t the same Juventus we’ll see come February, March and April. Hell, knowing who started and who will be added in the coming days, this isn’t the same Juventus we’ll see come the start of the Serie A season next month.

Yeah, Juventus didn’t play all that well at all. And yeah, Neymar made Stephan Lichtsteiner, Medhi Benatia and Andrea Barzagli look really, really bad on the second of his two first-half goals, but this is the first time that Juventus has taken the field together in almost two months. There is going to be flashes of potential, but there’s also going to be struggles because it’s the early goings of the preseason.

We saw both on Saturday night in New Jersey — especially when Allegri brought on the big boys up front — and that’s perfectly okay. That’s just the reality of the situation this time of year. I’d rather Juve look great in the late stages of the Champions League than be a juggernaut in the International Champions Cup.

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS

  • Juventus’ new home kits looked really good when they were first released. They now look even better after seeing the players actually wear them in a game.
  • However, there’s also this: Rolando Mandragora’s last name is so long that it doesn’t fit on the wall of black on the back of Juve’s jersey. We’ve officially found a design flaw.
  • Seeing where Rodrigo Bentancur was a standout for Uruguay at the Under-20 World Cup, Allegri using his as a makeshift winger was ... interesting. I hope that it’s more of a July preseason experiment rather than something that could actually be in the cards for a player who could develop into something very special as a holding midfielder.
  • Anybody else get a little shot of adrenaline when Allegri rolled out the five-man substitution that included Douglas Costa, Dybala, Higuain, Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado? Because I did.
  • Dybala’s first action in the game involved making his defender, Sergio Busquets, look like an absolute fool. Welcome to the party, Paulo.
  • That first exchange between Douglas Costa and Dybala on the left flank almost resulted in a goal. I can get used to that for the next, oh, five or six years. (Although Paulo scoring the chance would be okay, too.)
  • Giorgio Chiellini and Luis Suarez subbed on at the same time to begin the second half. heh.
  • We have an updated stat for all of our readers: With Neymar recording both of Barcelona’s first-half goals, Lionel Messi still hasn’t scored a goal on Gigi Buffon in his career. We are here to provide you with the information that truly matters most.
  • I’ll leave you all with this: Claudio Marchisio screaming at Neymar to get up after he made a simple late tackle look like he got shot in the back basically made my day.

Serie A fixture list 2017-18: Juventus to

open season against Cagliari in Turin

https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2017/7/26/16031406/

juventus-2017-18-serie-a-fixture-list-announcement

Jul 26, 2017

In fitting Italian fashion, the Serie A governing body waiting until there’s less than a month before the season starts to announce the actual 2017-18 campaign’s fixture list on Wednesday night. But, at long last, we finally found out when and where Juve will begin its season.

Juventus will open its latest title defense at Allianz Stadium — still need to get used to the name change, by the way — against Cagliari on Sunday, Aug, 20, in Turin. It’s followed up by the first away game of the season, a trip to the Luigi Ferraris to face Genoa.

Things pick up a notch or two starting on Matchday 5, with new Juve winger Federico Bernardeschi facing his former side Fiorentina when La Viola make the trip to Turin. Then comes Derby Day against Torino and a trip to Bergamo to face upstart Atalanta — who just so happen to have some future Juventus players on the roster with the likes of Mattia Caldara, Riccardo Orsolini and Leonardo Spinazzola — and a home fixture against Lazio.

(Round 8 is a monster round in Serie A, by the way, with the first Milan derby of the season as well as the Derby del Sole between Roma and Napoli in Rome.)

The final month of the first half is one heck of a stretch — especially when you throw in the final rounds of the Champions League group stage — with games against Napoli, Inter Milan and Roma all on the docket. The Roma game will happen just before Christmas as Serie A will have no lengthy holiday break this season.

As much as we want to look at those games as a huge way to close out the calendar year, the return legs will likely be even bigger as Juve (hopefully) march toward another Serie A title.

Serie A fixtures

Round Opponent Location

2 Genoa Away
3 Chievo Home
4 Sassuolo Away

Where the Scudetto could be won

http://www.football-italia.net/106353/where-scudetto-could-be-won

Jul 26, 2017

The schedule for Serie A 2017-18 has thrown up some huge fixtures at crucial times during the season.

While every season sees each team play each other once, home and away, the order in which the fixtures fall can have a huge bearing on the outcome of the season.

Whether you’re planning a trip to Italy or just need to ensure a day off, Football Italia has compiled a list of the fixtures you won’t want to miss this season.

Lazio-Milan [Week 3]

After their takeover by Chinese investors, Milan have spent big this summer.

The first two rounds of the season are relatively kind for the Rossoneri, with a trip to Crotone followed by a home game with Cagliari.

That means Week 3 will be the first real test of the Diavolo’s Scudetto credentials, as they travel to face a Lazio side which finished above them last season.

In Leonardo Bonucci, Lucas Biglia and Andrea Conti, Milan have certainly improved their squad, but if Vincenzo Montella can’t get all the new faces to gel, they could come unstuck in Rome.

All of Weeks 8 and 27

Take time off work, send the kids to Grandma’s, turn down any wedding invitations - you won’t want to miss any of Week 8.

Inter and Milan face off in the first Derby della Madonnina of the season, with both sides aiming for at least a Champions League place this season.

Juventus welcome Lazio to Turin, before Napoli travel to face Roma at the Olimpico.

Throw in an early relegation six-pointer between Verona and Benevento, and a Europa League showdown between Sampdoria and Atalanta and this could be the best weekend of the season.

That is until you consider the reverse fixtures in Week 27 - all of the above drama, played out just as the season enters ‘Squeaky Bum Time’.

Milan-Juventus [Week 11]

In 2011, Juventus signed Andrea Pirlo from Milan and subsequently took the Scudetto from them too.

Six years later, the Rossoneri hope the capture of Leonardo Bonucci will see the balance of power swing back the other way, and the two sides go head-to-head at San Siro in Week 11.

The game comes far enough into the season to determine whether or not both teams will be going for the title, and if they are the Week 30 return leg could be extremely tasty.

Juventus-Napoli [Week 34]

Napoli look like the most credible threat to Juventus’ dominance, so much so that the Partenopei squad have vowed to stay together to win the Scudetto this season.

If Maurizio Sarri’s men are to knock the Old Lady off her perch, then they’ll surely need to pick up a result when they visit Juventus Stadium in Week 34.

Napoli haven’t beaten the Bianconeri in Turin since October 2009, losing on their last seven visits between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Another defeat with five games to go could be fatal, but a win at Juve could spur the Neapolitans on to the Scudetto…

Roma-Juventus [Week 37]

With just two games of the Serie A season to go, Roma welcome Juventus to Stadio Olimpico.

This could be a direct Scudetto showdown between the sides which finished first and second last year, or an opportunity for other hopefuls to gain points on one or both of these teams.

Week 38 looks set to be momentous, but the penultimate round could be equally dramatic.

Pirlo: ‘Juventus still the team to beat’

http://www.football-italia.net/106758/pirlo-‘juventus-still-team-beat’

Jul 27, 2017

Andrea Pirlo doesn’t think Milan will challenge for the Scudetto this year, and says Juventus “are still the team to beat”.

The New York City midfielder played for both clubs, but doesn’t think the Rossoneri’s capture of Leonardo Bonucci will give them the edge in the title race.

“Juve are still the team to beat,” Pirlo explained to La Repubblica.

“They’ve strengthened with Douglas Costa, [Federico] Bernardeschi and [Wojciech] Szczesny and now they’ll take someone else.

“Every year people say it’s the turn of Napoli, Roma and others, then we see how it goes.

“Bonucci will give Milan great charisma, personality and international experience, while Juventus will miss his technique and his ability to play the ball.

“Will Milan fight for the Scudetto? I don’t think so. When you’re starting from zero and take 10 new players, they can be as good as you want it’s still difficult to win straight away.

“You have to get them to play together, to fit well together on the pitch. [Coach Vincenzo] Montella has a difficult but stimulating job. Their goal is to reach the Champions League.”

It has been suggested that Bonucci left the Bianconeri due to Massimiliano Allegri, a similar situation to Pirlo’s free transfer from Milan.

“I don’t know what happened between them, but I left Milan because I was at the end of my contract and I wanted a new adventure. It was nothing to do with Allegri.

“I didn’t change through any fault of his, I could have stayed at Milan too but I felt that a cycle was finished.”

Pirlo won the Champions League twice at Milan, but lost in the final with Juve and saw them beaten in Cardiff too.

“I don’t think there’s anything missing in particular, anything can happen in a final. I’m still sorry for Berlin, not for me but for the team.

“Juve dropped off in the second half in Cardiff, it can happen. I lost one against Liverpool when we were 3-0 up at half-time, and that was with Milan…”

Pallotta: 'Milan lost their minds!'

http://www.football-italia.net/106802/pallotta-milan-lost-their-minds

Jul 28, 2017

Roma President James Pallotta blasted Financial Fair Play rules, as Milan’s transfer strategy “makes zero sense. They didn’t have the money in the first place. They’re losing their minds!”

American businessman Pallotta spoke to Sirius XM FC on Thursday evening and did not hold back his opinions. You can read the rest here and here.

The most controversial portion of the interview was about Milan’s €210m spending spree this summer following the takeover by Yonghong Li.

“UEFA in terms of Financial Fair Play has been a complete ****show for us. We should be the poster boy for turning things around from the previous ownership.

“When you relate it to AC Milan, I have no idea what’s going on there. It makes zero sense. The amount of spending – they didn’t have the money in the first place to buy the team, as they borrowed almost €300m from some people that I know in London, at a pretty high interest rate.

“They are spending, or at least making some significant down-payments, for players and they’re going to have to pay the piper at some point down the road.

“They say it’s about qualifying for the Champions League, but that won’t be enough. When the salary seems about equal to the revenues, I don’t know what the heck is going on. That’s the only one in Serie A who are losing their minds!

“Maybe they have this grand masterplan that we’ll all figure out someday, but the rest of the teams are being somewhat rational.

“If you can explain Milan to me, because I don’t get it…”

Juventus name squad list for Tottenham friendly

Juventus is heading to Wembley, here’s who’s coming.

https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2017/8/4/16094422/

juventus-max-allegri-2017-squad-list-tottenham-friendly

Aug 4, 2017

Juventus head into the famous Wembley Stadium to take on Tottenham on Saturday and Allegri has named 27 players to join him.

These players, courtesy of Juventus’ official website include:

Alex Sandro

Asamoah

Barzagli

Benatia

Bentancur

Buffon

Caligara

ChielliniCoccolo

Cuadrado

Del Favero

De Sciglio

Douglas Costa

Dybala

Higuain

Kean

Khedira

Lemina

Lichtsteiner

Mandragora

Mandzukic

Marchisio

Pinsoglio

Pjanic

Rincon

Szczesny

That’s a lot of players. If my math is correct, Juventus have more than enough players to field an entirely different squad for each half.

It’s comforting to wee Szczesny included in the list, seeing as his International Champions Cup minutes were limited with an apparent injury. The silver linings to that injury though was that we got to see that we have a very quality 3rd GK in Pinsoglio - on that note, happy 35th birthday to 4-time Serie A winner, Rubinho.

Stefano Sturaro won’t be travelling as he is suffering from muscle fatigue in his left thigh. No news on why Rugani or Bernadeschi won’t be making the trip.

From the pool of players selected, it’s hard to predict what direction Max will go with his starting lineup. I would assume Max would want to field a decently strong lineup seeing as we are taking on the Premier League runner-ups, although at the end of the day it still is just a friendly, and staying healthy should be the top priority.

The game will take place tomorrow (Saturday the 5th) at 12:30 EST.

Callejon: Napoli the anti-Juve

http://www.football-italia.net/107160/callejon-napoli-anti-juve

Aug 4, 2017

Jose Callejon claims Napoli are the ‘anti-Juventus’ as “we think we’re a great team that can do big things, and we’re on to them.”

Napoli are being backed to push Juve harder than ever for the Scudetto next season, and Callejon is confident the Partenopei have what it takes to do just that.

“Come through everything at Napoli? The credit must go to my parents, you should talk to them,” the winger told Corriere dello Sport.

“Napoli the ‘anti-Juve’? We’ll take on this role and keep hold of it, without shouldering any worry. We think we’re a great team that can do big things.

“We restart from picking up 48 points in the second half of last season. We showed we could get [near the summit], when maybe few thought we could.

“We’re very close to Juventus and we’re on to them. After that, it’s clear you need so many fine details to win things and that there will be difficult times…”

Every time the ESPN feed here in the United States panned to Max Allegri on the sidelines he was either rocking a displeased look or telling one of his assistant coaches how displeased he was with how his team was looking. You could say that’s just normal Max and we shouldn’t be surprised by that — which isn’t necessarily wrong. But you could also say that it pretty much summed up Juve’s first-ever trip to Wembley.

And, yeah, that’s just about how things went.

Juventus looked relatively unimpressive in a 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday evening, with goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen giving Spurs a win in their final tune-up before English Premier League play starts next weekend.

For Juventus, it was also their final friendly of the summer, as Lazio await Juve’s arrival at the Stadio Olimpico next weekend for the annual Supercoppa. And if they want to win the first trophy of the 2017-18 season, then they’re going to have to play a lot better than they did against Spurs on English soil.

Of course, we’ve seen Juve flip the switch before when they transition from preseason mode to games that actually matter. And it’s not like Juve have been anything close to a finished product at this time of the summer in the last handful of years. So in that sense, Juve playing pretty meh isn’t really that much of a surprise.

If this sounds familiar, well, then you’ve been following along this preseason.

Bottom line, it’s a friendly. As far as we know, no Juventus players were injured at Wembley. We can’t exactly use those two lines for much longer, but expecting perfection from Allegri and Juve on the fifth day of August would just be something nobody should really have in their realm of possibilities.

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS

  • I have a confession: The most interested in this game was when Rodrigo Bentancur and Moise Kean came on in the second half. Does that make me a bad person?
  • I have another confession: The green third kits look very good.
  • We finally got to see the Giorgio Chiellini and Daniele Rugani combination in the central of defense — something that I feel like we’ve all wanted to see take place since young Daniele returned from his extended holiday this summer. You could tell that Rugani is still trying to work his way back into shape when he made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes out there. And it’s good to see Chiellini looking healthy and raring to go once again. Just keep those two healthy, okay?
  • It’s unfortunate, but you’re starting to see age really catch up with Stephan Lichtsteiner. Mattia De Sciglio hasn’t looked great this season, but he’s been much better than Lichtsteiner without a doubt. I don’t think there’s any question who should be Juve’s starting right back in the Supercoppa and going forward into the Serie A season — and it’s not the Swiss Express.
  • With the preseason he’s had, Bentancur has surely put himself into position to get a decent amount of playing time in the upcoming season. He’s been really, really good and, based on his age, should only get better as he becomes more and more comfortable as he adapts to life in Italy with Juventus.
  • Just keep telling yourself “it’s preseason it’s preseason it’s preseason” if you get grumpy about this result. We won’t be able to say that at the end of the month if Juve play poorly, so make sure to fill that quota of not worrying about them while you still can.

Allegri unfazed by Spurs loss

Max Allegri insists “I’m not worried” by Juventus’ 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday but admits “we need to be more careful defensively.”

Goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen condemned Juve to their third friendly defeat of preseason and ensured they ended it with no clean sheets, but Allegri was unfazed by the result.

“I’m not worried. We’ve worked hard in the last few days,” he said after the game.

“We did some good things. It’s true that defeats like these are bad, but we must look at the positives.

“We need to be more careful defensively and we have to work hard because the Italian League is always won by the team with the best defence.

“The team are fine, they’ve improved physically. Douglas Costa? It was the first game that he started.

“He played well until he came off and can have the same excuses as everyone else.”

Giorgio Chiellini: “We spent more time travelling than training…”

http://www.football-italia.net/107257/chiellini-questions-juve-preseason

Aug 5, 2017

Giorgio Chiellini has appeared to question Juventus’ preseason in the US. “We spent more time travelling than training…”

Juve lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, in their final friendly before the Supercoppa against Lazio next weekend, and Chiellini admitted his teammates were relieved about returning to Turin and not having to travel for a few days.

“In these three weeks, we spent more time traveling than training,” he said after the game.

“We definitely needed a game like this, with a bit more intensity and high tempo, for our official opener on Sunday.

“We’ve been working so hard and we’re looking forward to spending a few days to Turin without traveling.

“Spirit is what we’ve always had during a season. If we have the right mentality, application and desire to sacrifice, we won’t have any problems finding that spirit.

“New faces? I think they’ve done well, but they haven’t done much work with us yet. Douglas and Berna have great quality, and I think they can give us more than just options, different characteristics going forward.

“Mattia is a dead cert, he understands the need to work with serenity and he’ll give us a big hand. Then there’s this young lad, Bentancur, who can do well.

“I don’t know whether he’ll stay or not, but you can see that he was already playing with men in Argentina.

“Ready for Lazio? Yes, with great calmness.”

Cuadrado could miss Super Cup match due to injury

Good news: We’re talking about on-field stuff for Juventus

again. Bad news: It’s because of an injury.

report-cuadrado-super-cup-injury-2017-serie-a

It’s very exciting to be talking about Juventus on-field things for meaningful games. After a long, sometimes painful transfer window, it’s nice to be talking about something that doesn’t have to do with dollar signs and player movement.

Unfortunately, the news to talk about is about an injury. Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Juan Cuadrado could be set to miss the first competitive fixture of the season, the Super Coppa. Cuadrado has reportedly stopped training with the team due to a muscle strain, and will need to be further evaluated to determine the severity of the injury.

A season ago, this would have been an injury that would have forced Juventus’ hand to changing formations and likely deploying a 3-5-2. This time around, things are different as Juventus has plenty of options available at right wing, with newcomers Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi.

Back to transfer talk for a second, this could also affect Juventus’ strategy in the transfer market. Cuadrado’s spot on the roster can’t be considered 100% safe, with reported interest from Milan, Roma, and Arsenal for the winger, with a replacement for Lazio’s Keita Balde being considered. An injury of a substantial magnitude could halt any transfer negotiations for the time being.

Hopefully it’s not too serious and Cuadrado is able to return to the lineup for the Supercoppa or shortly after.

Juventus will be taking on Coppa Italia finalists, Lazio, this Sunday at 2:45 EST at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, marking their first competitive fixture of the season.

Prandelli: 'Napoli on Juve's level'

http://www.football-italia.net/108046/prandelli-napoli-juves-level

Aug 12, 2017

Cesare Prandelli believes Napoli start the Serie A season “on the same level” as six-times winners Juventus, but Mario Balotelli has “found his identity” in Nice.

The campaign kicks off next weekend, but first the Partenopei have to get past Nice to reach the Champions League proper.

“Perhaps Balotelli has finally reached maturity,” the former Italy Coach told Il Mattino newspaper.

“He has extinguished that desire he had to set the world alight and found his identity in Nice. I care for Mario and I am happy for him if he is happy in France.

“But whether Mario plays or not, Napoli are a stronger side and I see them as clear favourites in the Champions League play-off. Their performances are already on the level of last season and it’s only August.

“Napoli have been wise this summer, preparing for the play-off by not changing too much or getting swept up in the transfer market. They focused on the solidity of a group that did extraordinary things last term. This was not the right summer to make changes.

“The play-off is a complicated challenge that forces teams to change their pre-season preparations. You have to focus on the motivation of the players, without having the time to test and train the way you should ahead of such an important game, one that dictates the season ahead.

“Nice came third in Ligue 1, so are not minnows, but Napoli have to play like Napoli.”

Prandelli also sees Maurizio Sarri’s side impressing in the Scudetto race too.

“I think Napoli start out on the same level as Juventus this season, because keeping their best players was the most important thing on the transfer market.”

Should Lorenzo Insigne do like Paulo Dybala and change to the Number 10 jersey?

“No, if I were Lorenzo, I’d keep hold of 24. Maradona is unique and it’s best that jersey forever remain tied to Diego.”

Sacchi: 'Juve only play 15 mins'

http://www.football-italia.net/107917/sacchi-juve-only-play-15-mins

Aug 12, 2017

Arrigo Sacchi doubts Juventus can win the Champions League, because “they only play for 15 minutes and then just defend and counter.”

The legendary Milan Coach was, until Zinedine Zidane for Real Madrid, the last tactician to win back-to-back European Cups and European Super Cups.

“Dominant clubs have won the Champions League, from Alfredo Di Stefano’s Real Madrid to Ajax in the 1970s through to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona,” Sacchi told Mediaset Premium.

“I like Juventus very much when they take the initiative, but they only play like that for 15 minutes and then retreat, just defend and seek the counter-attack.

“They’re not making the most of their attacking potential or feeding the strikers. I would love to ask Max Allegri why they do that. I fear it is a physical issue, so the team cannot handle playing in a certain way for an entire half of football.

“Many Juventus fans ask me the same question and I’d honestly love to know.”

Aug 12, 2017

Juventus have named their squad for the Italian Super Cup against Lazio tomorrow night, including Federico Bernardeschi and Wojciech Szczesny.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Sunday at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

There had been confusion when the Lega Serie A website did not list Bernardeschi and Szczesny’s contracts as being deposited, but this proved to be an oversight and it has now been updated.

Keita left out of Lazio squad

http://www.football-italia.net/108082/keita-left-out-lazio-squad

Aug 12, 2017

Felipe Anderson is in the Lazio squad for the Italian Super Cup against Juventus, but Keita Balde Diao is left out completely.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

There were some injury concerns around Felipe Anderson and he remains a huge doubt to feature, but is in the side.

However, Keita is nowhere to be seen in the list of players presented by Coach Simone Inzaghi.

Officially this is due to a muscular issue, but it is well known that Keita has put in a transfer request and wants to join Juve.

“There are rumours around Keita and I will observe everything,” said Inzaghi in today’s Press conference.

“In my mind, players need to give 100 per cent. If I can see that in Keita, then he’ll play, otherwise I’ll look to someone else.”

Lazio squad for Juventus: Guerrieri, Strakosha, Vargic; Basta, De Vrij, Hoedt, Luiz Felipe, Lukaku, Marusic, Patric, Radu, Wallace; Di Gennaro, Felipe Anderson, Leiva, Luis Alberto, Lulic, Milinkovic, Murgia, Parolo; Caicedo, Immobile, Palombi

Keita: 'Lazio profoundly hurt me'

http://www.football-italia.net/108085/keita-lazio-profoundly-hurt-me

Aug 12, 2017

Keita Balde Diao was “profoundly hurt” by Lazio leaving him out of the Italian Super Cup squad. “I don’t know how to evaluate the consequences.”

The striker has put in a transfer request and wants to join Juventus, who his team are facing in tomorrow night’s Super Cup.

Officially, the Senegal international was left out of the squad due to a muscular problem, but he took to social media to deny that was the case.

“The lack of a call-up for the Super Cup Final has profoundly hurt me,” wrote Keita on Twitter.

“It is the first important match of the season, for which I had prepared and was ready for action.

“The decision made by the club, which evidently had nothing to do with purely sporting criteria, puts me in a psychologically uncomfortable position and right now I don’t know how to evaluate the consequences of that.”

His contract with Lazio is due to expire in June 2018, so in theory he could agree terms with another club in January and leave next summer as a free agent.

Juventus have offered around €15m for the forward, but the Aquile want over €20m.
