  19. Preview: Lazio vs Juventus – Team News, Lineups & Prediction Saturday is the day of reckoning between two familiar foes as Lazio and Juventus lock horns in a high-stakes Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico. While the visitors’ bid to return to the Champions League goes to plan, the home side’s pursuit of European football is in the balance. Lazio endured unpleasant moments before March’s international break. After Maurizio Sarri’s abrupt exit, club fans insulted talismanic striker Ciro Immobile as Biancocelesti eked out a precious 3-2 victory at relegation-threatened Frosinone under the leadership of interim boss Giovanni Martusciello. But the new sheriff is in town. Following a brief spell in Ligue 1 with Marseille, Igor Tudor has returned to Serie A to salvage Lazio’s disastrous campaign. The former Hellas Verona manager faces an uphill task to guide the capital-based outfit to the Champions League, with his side starting this round eight points behind arch-rivals Roma. Unlike Lazio, Juventus are on the verge of regaining their place at Europe’s top table after a season-long absence. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s future in Turin has been under the microscope after Bianconeri’s unfathomable downturn since the beginning of February. Fans have lost patience with the defensive-minded coach as a scoreless home draw against Genoa before the international break saw the Turin faithful jeer their manager after the final whistle. That result, coupled with Milan’s 3-1 win at Verona, resulted in Juventus tumbling down to third in the Serie A standings. Match Preview Lazio The abovementioned win against the Canaries halted Lazio’s embarrassing four-game losing streak in all competitions. But among the defeats they suffered during that stretch was a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Bayern Munich, which ended their Champions League run in the first knockout stage. ............ Juventus Despite Lazio’s form woes, Juventus have their own issues to contend with after racking up just seven points across their last seven Serie A matches. At the thick of that woeful sequence has been Bianconeri’s notoriously uneventful frontline. Three scoring blanks in those seven games perhaps best explain fans’ anger. Winless on their last three league travels (D1, L2) as a result of their immense scoring problems, Juventus will take this trip hopelessly looking to return to winning ways on the road. It’s not all doom and gloom, knowing they have developed a habit of making strong starts in their away league fixtures. Allegri’s men have fallen behind in just five of their 14 Serie A outings on hostile turf this season. But conceding first might not necessarily mean a fiasco for Juventus. They’ve rescued points twice in such contests (W1, D1, L3). Team News ............ On the other hand, Juventus will be without Arkadisuz Milik, Dusan Vlahovic, Nicolo Fagioli, Paul Pogba, and Carlos Alcaraz. Vlahovic lost his temper in second-half stoppages against Genoa, picking up two bookings in a minute, and will have to watch the game from the stands. Lazio vs Juventus Potential Lineups Lazio (3-4-2-1): Christos Mandas; Mario Gila, Alessio Romagnoli, Nicolo Casale; Manuel Lazzari, Matteo Guendouzi, Danilo Cataldi, Adam Marusic; Alberto, Zaccagni; Ciro Immobile. Juventus (3-5-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer, Danilo; Andrea Cambiaso, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Filip Kostic; Federico Chiesa, Moise Kean. Lazio vs Juventus Prediction This fixture has a low-scoring theme written all over it. Both teams have massively struggled in front of goal this season. With Tudor’s arrival, Lazio’s disappointing attacking output could suffer further decline. Meanwhile, goals have been at a premium for Juventus without Vlahovic. All that encourages us to predict a goalless affair. Prediction: Draw (0-0) Read more -> https://cultofcalcio.com/preview-lazio-vs-juventus-team-news-lineups-prediction/
  20. Preview: Lazio vs. Juventus In the first game of a potentially decisive double-header with Juventus, mid-table Lazio aim to make a fresh start under new management, as two fallen giants clash at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. Defeats to Juve in league and cup over the next few days would all but end the Biancocelesti's season, while the visitors are enduring one of their worst streaks since rejoining Serie A in 2007. Match preview After former manager Maurizio Sarri resigned on the back of a four-game losing run, which included an aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League's last 16, Lazio were left in disarray. Citing a loss of backing from his players, Sarri stepped down and his assistant Giovanni Martusciello occupied the dugout at Stadio Stirpe for a 3-2 win over Frosinone just before the international break. ............ Martusciello has now made way for Croatian coach Igor Tudor, who will be tasked with turning that dire form around, and entertainment should be on the agenda during his time in Rome: when last employed in Serie A, only Inter, Lazio and Napoli scored more goals than his Hellas Verona side. ............ Before trying to gain a first-leg advantage in the cup semi-finals, Juventus will aim to do the league double over Lazio for the first time in five years, following their 3-1 success in September's reverse fixture. However, wins have been thin on the ground for Max Allegri's men over the past couple of months, during which time their Scudetto hopes sunk like a stone and a previously rich seam of goals suddenly dried up. Since the end of January, Juve have taken a mere seven points from eight matches, and only Serie A's bottom three - Salernitana, Frosinone and Sassuolo - have accrued fewer over the same period. Having overseen the club's worst such run for 13 years, Allegri is facing fresh calls to depart this summer, but he may believe that claiming the Coppa and overtaking AC Milan for second place remain achievable goals between now and the end of May. ............ Team News ............ Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Arkadiusz Milik (adductor) and Carlos Alcaraz (hamstring) due to injury, but their most notable absentee is Dusan Vlahovic, who has scored 15 league goals this term to sit second in the Capocannoniere rankings. The Serbian striker was sent off during second-half stoppage time against Genoa so must serve a suspension, and with Milik unavailable, misfiring forward Moise Kean could be called upon to partner Federico Chiesa or Kenan Yildiz at Stadio Olimpico. Yet to score in 14 Serie A appearances so far this season, Kean has not found the net in his last 18 league games, which is the longest goal drought endured by any Juve striker for more than 20 years. Lazio possible starting lineup: Mandas; Gila, Romagnoli, Casale; Lazzari, Guendouzi, Cataldi, Marusic; Alberto, Zaccagni; Immobile Juventus possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Chiesa, Kean We say: Lazio 0-1 Juventus It may take time to make the transition from Sarri-ball to Tudor's tactics, so Lazio are set to suffer another defeat this weekend. Ahead of their next meeting on Tuesday, these sides will most likely play out a cagey affair, with Juve reverting to type and grinding out the win. 21. Koopmeiners or Ferguson – Tacchinardi names which player should Juventus sign Juventus is showing interest in two standout midfielders from Serie A: Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta and Lewis Ferguson from Bologna. The Bianconeri have been closely monitoring both players for several months and appear to be nearing a decision on which one to pursue. Having scouted these talented midfielders extensively, Juventus is confident that either Koopmeiners or Ferguson could significantly strengthen their squad. ............ Choosing between the two talented midfielders presents a challenge, and former Juventus star Alessio Tacchinardi expressed his desire for the club to acquire both players, highlighting their quality and potential to enhance the team. He said: “In my opinion, Juve should take them both. This team needs midfielders who know how to score goals: and they both are. It needs intense players: and they both are. Players who dribble and attack the goal: and they both are. They complement each other very well and I would take them both. If I had to choose, it would also depend on the technical guide: Koopmeiners seems to like to dribble a little more, Ferguson always goes inside. But then again, I would see them well together and in my opinion they are two Juventus players.” ............ 23.
  25. Wojciech Szczesny the hero as Poland qualifies for Euro 2024 Juventus star Wojciech Szczesny emerged as the hero as the Poland national team secured their place in the group stages of Euro 2024. Poland had to qualify via the playoffs and faced Wales in the finals, in what proved to be one of the most challenging matches. ............... With some of Europe’s top players, including Robert Lewandowski, on their side, Poland battled Wales to a goalless draw after 120 minutes of play. The match had to be decided on penalties, during which the Polish team demonstrated perfection from the spot, converting all their kicks flawlessly. Wales’ Dan James stepped up to take the final penalty kick, but Szczesny’s crucial save ensured Poland’s victory and their qualification for the Euros. ...............
