Juventus Would Sign Dzeko Over Benzema - Giuseppe Marotta

Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta insists the club have not shifted their transfer scope of Edin Dzeko of Wolfsburg...

Nov 27, 2010

Juventus strikers would click into gear and fuction to their fullest potential if they bag long-time target Edin Dzeko of Wolfsburg, insists director general Giuseppe Marotta.

The Italian is leading the hunt for Bosnian targetman Dzeko who is again taking the Bundesliga by the horns.

Dzeko, 24, has scored eight in 13 games in Germany this season, and it has not gone unnoticed by Marotta.

"Out of Dzeko and Benzema I would choose Dzeko. As for Maxi Lopez, he is not part of our plans," the transfer chief told Tuttosport.

He added, "The January market? It is an opportunity welcomed by all teams, perhaps there are some elements that could improve our team, but we will not make important investments.

"I am of the idea that is that window there are no great players on which to go on."

Giuseppe Marotta: Buffon & Aquilani Are Staying

& We Can Push For Scudetto

Gianluigi Buffon & Alberto Aquilani are staying at Scudetto contenders Juventus, claims Giuseppe Marotta...

Nov 29, 2010

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has nailed his Scudetto manifesto on the club door, and painted the future of Gianluigi Buffon and Alberto Aquilani on walls at Vinovo.

"The table speaks clearly and we will fight for it. We know that other teams are not at full speed," he told La Domenica Sportiva.

"Juventus made radical chancges and 12 players arrived here.

"Compared to Inter and Milan, we didn't just change coach."

Buffon has been linked with an exit, but Marotta's view is in stark contrast though.

"Buffon will remain for sure even though anything can happen in football. He is a symbol of Juventus," added Marotta.

And there are plans to keep Aquilani at the club by signing him permanently from Liverpool once the 26-year-old's loan deal expires in the summer.

"We can exercise the right to buy and there are many reasons to consider him a Juventus player for the future," he concluded.

Juventus Are Interested In Giampaolo Pazzini - Giuseppe Marotta

Juventus chief admits the club will strengthen, and they could target Sampdoria ace Giampaolo Pazzini...

Dec 6, 2010

Giuseppe Marotta has recognised an accute need to strengthen the Juventus squad, and says they could make waves in the transfer market for Sampdoria's Giampaolo Pazzini.

But he believes they would need the tap to run with convincing cash to make a splash before rival clubs dip in.

"Our objective is to reinforce this squad and we have to evaluate two things - the opportunities that come up, and the economic aspect as we cannot do great things in this window [January]," he told Tuttosport.

"Pazzini? This is a player who could do well in a team like Juventus, but we would have to speak with those who own his rights - they would want to make the most out of him, and they would not want to deprive themselves either.

"However, anything can happen and someone like Pazzini is always interesting to Juventus."

Pazzini, 26, joined Sampdoria from Fiorentina in January 2009 and worked under Marotta and current Bianconeri coach Luigi Del Neri last season as he banged in 21 goals in all competitions last term.

Juventus Won't Sign Cassano Or Gilardino - Giuseppe Marotta

Juventus will not be spending big in January, claims general director Giuseppe Marotta...

Dec 13, 2010

Juventus' transfer campaign will be conservative and, if necessary, discreet as Giuseppe Marotta excludes moves for Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano and Alberto Gilardino of Fiorentina.

Reports on Monday suggested a swap deal between Amauri and Gilardino was likely, while others mentioned the arrival of Antonio Cassano, who discovers the outcome of his rescission case later today.

But Marotta was quick to play down the hyperbole as he closed the door.

"We will not make important investments, the players who arrive, if they arrive, will have to improve the team, otherwise we will stay as we are," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"We must remember we have the most prolific attack, and an excellent midfield. We don't have to buy.

"The voices on Amauri and Gilardino are unfounded. And as for Cassano, I cannot see that we will get him as we have different plans."

Dec 13, 2010

Giuseppe Marotta: I Am Surprised

How Quickly Milos Krasic Has Hit Top Form

Milos Krasic has taken little time to settle in at Juventus and has surprised even the people who signed him

Dec 16, 2010

General director Giuseppe Marotta has spoken of the difficulties of landing former CSKA Moscow winger Milos Krasic at Juventus, and how impressed the 53-year-old has been with the Serbian international in how quickly he settled in at the Turin club.

"It wasn't easy [signing Krasic], that's for sure. Talks with his former club were difficult. But the major factor in the deal was that Milos wanted to play at Juventus. As you can see, neither of us didn't get what we wanted," Marotta told bobsoccer.ru.

"I certainly don't doubt the quality of Krasic, otherwise myself and Marco Naletilic [the player's agent], who led the negotiations on our behalf, would have fought so hard to make it happen. However, I confess I did not expect that Milos would adapt so quickly; both as a player and a person.

Marotta was asked, after signing Krasic, whether he had any other candidates from the Russian market he was looking at.

"You know my answer to that? Even if I had considered it, I wouldn't say. Let me just say the Russian market, as well as the Ukrainian, is always under supervision," said the director.

Marotta also gave his respect and congratulations to the work done by an Italian coach in Russia, Luciano Spalletti.

"Luciano is a specialist of the highest level and a very decent man. I am glad he got the run he did in Russia. I understand he likes St. Petersburg and he can continue to achieve things with Zenit.

Giuseppe Marotta Hints At January Arrivals

Juventus may be active in the transfer market, but only for players

that will drastically improve the squad, says Giuseppe Marotta...

Dec 17, 2010

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta says the club won't be operating a quick-buy strategy in January's transfer market, but admitted good chances to bolster the squad may be taken.

He also laid to rest speculation surrounding the futures of Amauri, Gianluigi Buffon and captain Alessandro Del Piero, who is waiting for a new deal.

"For the market we will try to take advantage of the opportunities which come our way," Marotta told Tuttosport.

"But we will only do it to sign players who are stronger than what we have, and so it will be difficult.

"We had made some big investments in June, and so I cannot see any more.

"Buffon and Del Piero don't represent any issues. Those two and Amauri will be protagonists."

Giuseppe Marotta Admits Juventus Are Ready

To Pounce In The Transfer Market

Juventus sporting director says the Bianconeri are ready to do well in the January transfer market.

Dec 19, 2010

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta says he and the Bianconeri are ready to pounce in the January transfer market.

The Turin giants, Marotta revealed, had eight new players on the field against Chievo in their 1-1 draw. The director wasn't interested in someone like Antonio Cassano, who will be joining Milan in the coming weeks.

"Cassano to Milan? We are covered in that role. Our project going forward is different to Milan's," the sporting director said to Sky. "Obviously, there are players that exist that are better than us, but in January, we must take advantage of the opoortunities that present to us.

"Today, we had eight new players on the field, with two 18-year-olds on the pitch. We deserved to win, but this football.

"At the moment, what matters is how the side are playing and not the position on the ladder," he added.

Marotta Claims Champions League Football Is The Objective

Juventus are planning forward as Giuseppe Marotta waters-down Scudetto hope...

Jan 24, 2011

Juventus are being less than clear over their ambitions for the season as Giuseppe Marotta claims a Champions League place will suffice less than 24 hours after coach Luigi Del Neri said the Scudetto was possible.

"Scudetto? Our priority now is to reach, and qualify for, the Champions League," Marotta told Tuttosport.

"As for the rest, we will see based on results. The league is strange and difficult for everyone. Look at Inter, they lost to Udinese.

"Of course, winning is in Juventus' DNA, but the priority is Champions League football."

Barzagli's Arrival Signals End Of Juventus' Transfer Market - Giuseppe Marotta

Juventus general director claims Barzagli's arrival from Wolfsburg ends their transfer plans for January...

Jan 26, 2011

Juventus have closed the lid on their transfer market with the arrival of Andrea Barzagli from Wolfsburg.

No further transfers will be engaged until at least June as the club revises its plans.

Director Giuseppe Marotta made it clear there will be no panic buying from now until the end of the January window.

"Transfer campaign over? Yes. There are no players able to make an immediate difference," he told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport.

"And, aside from costs, those arriving from abroad will need at least two months to adapt, so one might as well reason on the long term.

"Buying just to buy is not for Juventus."

Calciopoli & Arrogant Referees Continue

To Damage Juventus - Giuseppe Marotta

Juventus general director is furious after seeing his side lose amid controversy in Palermo...

Feb 3, 2011

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta claims referees and Calciopoli are preventing the club from preparing the ground for growth.

"I don't want to make excuses. Mine is a criticism towards the refereeing class in Italy," he told the press after the game.

He is furious with officials after seeing his side slump to another defeat against Palermo.

Juve feel cheated by referees after a clear penalty was denied when Cesare Bovo handled in the box.

And Marotta believes Calciopoli is clouding judgement among those with the whistle.

"I wouldn't like to think that judgements made about Juventus regarding Calciopoli in any way influence the refereeing," he added.

"The so-called psychological subjection towards Juventus has now become arrogance.

"There have been sensational episodes which have damaged us recently. I can't understand why there is this attitude towards us."

Giuseppe Marotta Plays Down Andrea Pirlo Rumours

Andrea Pirlo's potential move from Milan to Juventus is highly unlikely, according to Giuseppe Marotta...

Feb 18, 2011

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has seemingly ruled out a move for Milan playmaker Andrea Pirlo.

The midfielder's contract will expire at the end of the current season, and he has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the Rossoneri. Speculation is increasing regarding a potential exit from San Siro.

"Every time there is a free world class player like Pirlo it resonates and he is always linked with the big clubs," Marotta was quoted as saying by Milannews.it.

"There is no truth in these rumours."

A number of other top sides have also been linked with the 31-year-old, including Roma, Barcelona, and Manchester City. The former Brescia player is currently nursing a knee injury and is not expected to return to action until late March.

Giuseppe Marotta denies Walter Mazzarri

will join the club in the summer

The club's director general has rejected claims that the Napoli coach will join the club this summer.

May 9, 2011

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has quashed rumours that the club are in talks with Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri, who could leave the third-placed club in the summer.

Luigi Del Neri is currently in charge of the Turin giants but could depart at the end of the season with the club struggling to qualify for the Champions League.

However Mazzarri will not be joining Juventus, according to Marotta.

"I can categorically deny contact in any form with Mazzarri. Actually we find thse rumours a bit annoying. We have an excellent relationship with Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis and we always respect the rules," the official told Italian reporters before Monday's game against Chievo.

Despite denying the Mazzarri rumours, Marotta was not willing to give Del Neri the club's full backing.

"Del Neri? We speak with him on a daily basis. We, as a club are working for the future and we have clear ideas. At the right time we'll announce them," he added.

Marotta was also keen to stress that he believes the club will soon be challenging for the Serie A title, after enduring a tough five years.

"In these last five years, Inter and AC Milan have played important roles, while Juve had to deal with the psychological tsunami of Calciopoli. But we are starting to climb the mountain again," he concluded.

Juventus currently sit in seventh place, six points behind fourth-placed Udinese who occupy the final Champions League spot, with a game in hand.

Juventus are looking for players similar

to Tevez, Aguero & Benzema - Giuseppe Marotta

Marotta gives a detailed view of how Juve intend to proceed in the transfer market.

May 26, 2011

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has promised a top-notch chase for strikers as he looks for players who are similar to some of Europe's best finishers.

Marotta confirmed the focus is on improving their front line, but suggested they will not by big name players for the sake of it. Rather he is looking for someone with quality and experience.

The Italian chief did not specify a name, but said it would be a player who has characteristics which resemble those of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez of Manchester City.

"Aguero, Tevez or Benzema? The profile of the player we are looking for is similar to these players," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"We have been looking for important players for a long time, regardless of their role. In reality, the attacking department always creates great emotions for the fans and it gives quality to the team.

"Look at the arrival of Andrea Pirlo. The personality of the team grows, and we needed this. Therefore we will continue looking for players who have achieved important results."

In his most recent interview with Sky Sport Italia, City boss Roberto Mancini said Tevez is staying at Eastlands.

Atletico Madrid striker Aguero has confirmed his desire to leave in recent days, though to sign him a
