Agnelli rejects mid-season Scudetto?

lxPpVBO.png

Mar 28, 2020

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has hinted that he will not accept the Scudetto based on current standings after ‘liking’ a Twitter post.

Juve lead the Serie A table by a point, picking up a total of 63 from 26 games before the season was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

FIGC chief Gabriele Gravina has stated several times that he will do all he can to ensure the campaign is completed, also declaring there will be a title winner in 2019-20.

However, Agnelli ‘liked’ a Twitter post – dated March 26 – that read: “It would be marvellous, but saying ‘no thanks’ would be even more marvellous!” ......

De Laurentiis did not follow COVID protocol

De Laurentiis positivo al Covid, anche Agnelli in isolamento

Sep 10, 2020

Controversy is growing after Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis tested positive for COVID-19, dined with other club patrons and did not self-isolate despite having symptoms.

La Repubblica reported late last night that one of the representatives of the 20 clubs at the Lega Serie A meeting on Wednesday had tested positive for COVID-19.

However, worrying details are emerging of his irresponsible behaviour when waiting for the rest results, especially as he already had symptoms.

While at the meeting, it’s claimed De Laurentiis received a phone call telling him that the tests had come back positive.

He immediately informed the others at the meeting and left.

However, he was filmed leaving the venue in Milan and speaking to a crowd of reporters without wearing a protective mask, nor warning them to maintain social distance. .....

Agnelli sends message to Napoli

Jan 7, 2021

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli posted an image of the team buses at San Siro, a retort to Napoli’s statement after the COVID-19 appeal.

Agnelli published the photograph on Twitter this evening, featuring the two Juventus buses parked outside San Siro ahead of last night’s Serie A match against Milan.

The only caption was “(picture by R. Scaletta)”

Many saw this as a rebuke to Napoli, who had released a statement hours earlier on the CONI appeal victory. .....

Super League statement released

European Super League explained: Which clubs involved, how many matches would be played and what about Champions League?

Apr 18, 2021

A statement has been sent out by the 12 Founding Clubs of the Super League, including Juventus, Inter and Milan, with Andrea Agnelli as Vice-Chairman and Florentino Perez as First Chairman, expected to start in August 2021.

All 12 clubs have resigned from the ECA (European Club Association), remarkable considering Agnelli was the President of the ECA.

“Twelve of Europe’s leading football clubs have today come together to announce they have agreed to establish a new mid-week competition, the Super League, governed by its Founding Clubs.

“AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined as Founding Clubs.

“It is anticipated that a further three clubs will join ahead of the inaugural season, which is intended to commence as soon as practicable.

“Going forward, the Founding Clubs look forward to holding discussions with UEFA and FIFA to work together in partnership to deliver the best outcomes for the new League and for football as a whole. ...............

Super League reportedly suspended after exodus

Immagine

Apr 20, 2021

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Super League project has been suspended after the six English clubs formally pulled out.

Of the initial 12 founding clubs who announced the project 48 hours ago, half of them have backed out already.

Manchester City were the first to fall, followed by almost simultaneous statements from Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

This would leave just Juventus, Inter, Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

In theory, Barcelona would also have a clause allowing them to leave if the associates do not vote in favour of the project.

There is still no news from the remaining clubs, but Sky Sport Italia report the Super League project has been suspended. ...............

#CeferinOut trends in Italy and Spain

Ezup3L7X0AABMFC.jpg

Apr 24, 2021

While in England the backlash to the Super League has been practically universal, in Italy and Spain the hashtag #CeferinOut was trending.

The project seems to be dead in the water and it remains to be seen what repercussions there will be for the failed coup.

UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin warned that any clubs still adhering to the European Super League could be excluded from the Champions League.

The only remaining sides would seem to be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Milan.

This is why the hashtag #CeferinOut was trending on Twitter in both Italy and Spain on Friday evening.

It included messages mocking the UEFA slogan of ‘respect’ with the suggestion: “Those who want respect, give respect.”

This also followed reports that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ceferin raised his own wages as UEFA President. ...............

Super League ‘not over’: Florentino wants to sue UEFA

The protest of the fans flies on twitter: #ceferinout is in trend - Ruetir

Apr 24, 2021

According to Corriere della Sera, the Super League project is ‘not over’ and Florentino Perez intends to sue UEFA. ...............

Juventus, Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona haven’t formally left the competition as they could sue those who are quitting, as The Financial Times explained on Wednesday.

While UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin insists the breakaway clubs could face sanctions, Florentino Perez considers suing the European football governing body.

Florentino believes UEFA can’t act as the organisers and the regulators of European competitions and reportedly wants to file an antitrust complaint.

He believes UEFA have a monopoly and is preventing clubs from creating alternative tournaments.

According to the report, the Madrid-based European Super League Company SL has not dissolved, and at least four clubs are still part of it.

Juve, Real Madrid and Barca vs. Everyone

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus 'threaten clubs withdrawing from Super League with legal action'

May 8, 2021

There are reports UEFA will exclude Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona from the Champions League for two years, meanwhile those clubs are suing the other nine Super League rebels.

It was formally announced on Friday that UEFA had reached an agreement with nine of the 12 breakaway clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Milan, Inter, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

They signed a ‘Club Commitment Declaration’ to steer clear of any future Super League tournament, in exchange having to pay €15m ‘to be used for the benefit of children, youth and grassroots football in local communities across Europe.’ ..............................

Meanwhile, the trio not only aim to fight UEFA over this ruling, but are also now ready to sue the other nine clubs for leaving the project.

The New York Times now reports that Juve, Real Madrid and Barca sent a letter on Thursday accusing the other clubs of committing a “material breach” of the founders’ agreement.

They now intend to seek reparations for “significant damages” caused by the change of heart.

NYT: 'Infantino engaged in Super League project'

Superlega, the case of penalties for clubs that have renounced

May 20, 2021

The New York Times reports FIFA held talks with the founders of the Super League about ‘endorsing the competition’.

The breakaway competition was announced by 12 founding clubs in April but collapsed only two days after going public.

The project - which included Juventus, Inter and Milan from Serie A - was abandoned by most of the teams after protests from fans, teams and even politicians.

La Liga President Javier Tebas claimed FIFA President Gianni Infantino was behind the project and the New York Times reveals he was ‘aware of the plan and had been engaged in talks about lending FIFA’s backing to the breakaway League’.

FIFA later joined the choir of organisations slamming the competition to bury the project and UEFA has reached an agreement with nine of the 12 founding clubs. ..............................

THANK YOU, FABIO!

paratici

Jun 4, 2021

“Thank you” this was the overall message on behalf of Andrea Agnelli to Fabio Paratici and vice versa. After 11 years at the club, Fabio Paratici’s time has come to an end and in the midst of his exit, he and the President addressed the media in a press conference which looked back at the memories shared together. ..............................

Andrea Agnelli: But today we are here, above all, to celebrate 11 years with Fabio. We have won a lot, enjoyed happy moments, created great sports development projects, such as Juventus Women and the Under 23. I am thinking of the many players he brought here: I will mention three: Tevez, Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fabio ParaticiI thank Andrea and Juventus for this occasion to salute everyone. I feel it as an honour and a privilege, a moment to share with those who have been close to me. Eleven years are an era: to all those I have worked with; players, coaches, staff, managers, without forgetting anyone, I say: 'Thank you'. ..........................

AGNELLI: ‘SUPER LEAGUE NOT A COUP D’ETAT’

Per Andrea Agnelli il 2020 sarà l'anno zero della Juve, all'assemblea degli azionisti non manca una frecciata a Conte - La Stampa

Jun 4, 2021

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli insisted the Super League was ‘not a coup d’état, but a desperate warning cry’ and they will continue fighting UEFA also for ‘those who were too afraid’ to stick to the project.

The Bianconeri, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only remaining clubs of the original 12 who haven’t abandoned the project, and consequently face disciplinary action from UEFA.

That could go so far as exclusion from the Champions League for one or two seasons. ..........................

“The clubs always asked for communication with UEFA, who reacted by slamming the door shut and making grave, arrogant threats towards the three clubs who remain in the Super League, totally ignoring the verdict of the tribunal in Madrid and awaiting the verdict of the European tribunal. We can assure that the legal basis for the project is solid.

“This sort of attitude from UEFA is not how you reform football. Our desire for dialogue with UEFA and FIFA is unchanged. Other sports modified their format over the years, such as the basketball Euroleague, bringing great benefits to fans, clubs and players.

“Almost all stakeholders maintain football has to be reformed, yet those who do make proposals are demonised. Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona intend to continue with our proposals, also in solidarity with those who were too afraid to stick to them.”

UEFA suspend disciplinary proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus

The three clubs won’t be banned from the Champions League any time soon.

ceferin Archivi - TUTTOJUVE.NET

Jun 9, 2021

UEFA announced this Wednesday that they have suspended the disciplinary proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, who are still committed to the European Super League. That means that the three clubs won’t be facing a ban from participating in the UEFA Champions League any time soon, even after some reports suggested that UEFA was considering said suspension.

Here’s UEFA’s statement:
Following the opening of disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, the UEFA Appeals Body has decided to stay the proceedings until further notice. ..........................
