Arrigo Sacchi has seemingly blamed Max Allegri for Paulo Dybala’s poor Juventus form. “Not even Lionel Messi would’ve touched the ball against Napoli.”

 

Dybala’s failure to score in Juve’s 2-0 win at Olympiacos meant he had gone the entire group stage of the Champions League without a goal, but Sacchi suggested Allegri’s tactics were not getting the best out of the Argentine attacker.

 

“Forwards must feel motivated and supported because otherwise, they lose rhythm and confidence,” the coaching icon said after the game, reports ItaSportPress.

 

“Juventus could’ve played with Messi at the San Paolo against Napoli, but not even he would’ve touched the ball.

 

“It’s not fair because you have to give excitement to the fans. With excitement, you win and convince people. This makes the game more beautiful.”

Reports in Italy state Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri is top of Paris Saint-Germain’s shortlist to replace Unai Emery.

 

It’s appears certain PSG will sack the Spaniard at the end of this season, unless he succeeds in winning the Champions League.

 

While the capital club has won four of the past five Ligue 1 titles, success in Europe has continued to elude them that is seen as the big target for owners Qatar Sports Investments.

 

As pointed out by this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Allegri this week reached the Last 16 of the Champions League for the eighth year in a row, showing his pedigree in Europe.

 

For that reason, the newspaper reports, he’s top of PSG’s shortlist to replace Emery; ahead of his compatriot Antonio Conte.

 

Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi declared after Wednesday’s defeat to Bayern Munich that he was “very disappointed” with the performance, and Gazzetta reports he and the other directors are hugely impressed by Allegri.

 

However, the Coach is under contract until 2020 and Juventus are determined to hold onto him.

Juventus boss Max Allegri describes 2017 as a year full of satisfaction for his side.

 

The Old Lady signed off the calendar year with a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Verona yesterday, with Paulo Dybala scoring twice.

 

And Allegri has taken to social media to reflect upon a 12-month period that has seen the Bianconeri win a sixth-straight Scudetto, clinch a third consecutive Coppa Italia and reach the final of the Champions League.

 

“We say goodbye with a win to a year which has given us so much satisfaction,” the former Milan Coach wrote on his official Twitter account.

 

“A happy 2018 to everyone who loves this sport and who suffers every weekend for their team, whichever colour your shirt might be.”

 

The win against Verona took Juve back to within just one point of Serie A leaders Napoli, with one match remaining before the winter break.

Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly on Chelsea’s shortlist to replace Antonio Conte, but Juventus have no intention of letting him go.

 

The Coach has won the double for the past three seasons in a row, as well as reaching the Champions League final twice in that time.

 

Conte is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and today the Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Allegri is being considered as a possible candidate to replace him.

 

However, Juve have no intention of losing the Tuscan tactician this summer, and he’s under contract until 2020.

 

Allegri has admitted in the past that he wants to work in the Premier League, but a move this summer would appear to be unlikely.

Zinedine Zidane, Simone Inzaghi and Roberto Mancini are all candidates for Juventus should Max Allegri move on next season.

 

There have been multiple reports that Antonio Conte is ready to quit Chelsea and return to Italy in the summer, with Allegri being a prime contender to replace him.

 

Allegri has also been linked with the roles at Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and even Real Madrid, so Juve have to consider their own options for the future.

 

According to the Corriere dello Sport, one of the candidates is former Juve player and current Real Madrid boss Zidane.

 

He won the Champions League back-to-back at his first attempts, but this season has been less consistent for the Bernabeu club.

 

Zidane already has a strong bond with Juve, the 45-year-old speaks fluent Italian and knows Serie A very well, having played in Turin from 1996 to 2001.

 

Other options for Juve are Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi, who has taken the Biancocelesti to unexpected heights with a very limited budget, and Zenit St Petersburg boss Mancini.

The Bianconeri Coach has been repeatedly linked with a move away, with Arsenal and Real Madrid also touted, but he dismissed that talk in his Press conference today.

Massimiliano Allegri will take charge of his 200th Juventus game when the Bianconeri visit Fiorentina tonight.

 

There could hardly be a more fitting fixture for the Tuscan tactician, who was born 90km away in Livorno.

 

Allegri was initially an unpopular figure for the Bianconeri fans, having replaced Antonio Conte after three consecutive Scudetti.

 

The Coach had been fired by Milan - though he did deliver them the Scudetto in 2011 - and was widely seen as a step down from the current Chelsea boss.

 

Allegri soon won the supporters over, however, taking the Old Lady to within 90 minutes of the treble in his first season.

 

Having retained the Scudetto and won the Coppa Italia, the former Sassuolo boss did what Conte could not and finally made Juve a force in Europe again.

 

The Turin giants reached the Champions League final less than 12 months after the Tuscan arrived, losing 3-1 to Barcelona in Munich.

 

Indeed, while Conte will always be revered for reviving the sleeping giant - Juventus had finished seventh two years in a row before his arrival - Allegri has improved upon his achievements.

 

In Conte’s 152 games on the bench he boasted a 67.1 per cent win ratio, winning three Scudetti and reaching the 2012 Coppa Italia final.

 

However, with 199 games on the bench so far Allegri has a win per cent ratio of 70.85 per cent; 141 wins, 32 draws and 26 defeats.

 

Not only has he matched Conte’s achievement of a Scudetto triple, the 50-year-old has won the Coppa Italia in each of his three seasons in Turin.

 

Added to that, his tenure has seen the Old Lady reach the Champions League final twice, although they lost both games, to Barça and Real Madrid respectively.

Juventus legend Marcello Lippi insists Massimiliano Allegri was right to say fans can’t expect the Champions League final every year.

 

The Coach drew criticism when he said that Bianconeri fans shouldn’t be “depressed” by the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, as his side can’t be expected to dominate in Europe as they do in Italy.

 

“I completely agree with him,” Lippi, the last Coach to win the trophy with Juve, told Tuttosport.

 

“Max is right, and he did well to completely reject all of the negativity coming from outside. Victory is by no means assured in the Champions League.

 

“Tottenham are an excellent team and the 2-2 came on the comeback, if it had been the other way round and they’d pulled back two goals against the English we’d be having a very different conversation about the return leg.

 

“It’s not over yet, there’s another match, they just can’t get it wrong at Wembley. And it’s not like they just have to win.

 

“They could also get a 2-2 and then score in extra-time. There are some parallels with our Quarter-Final in 2003.

 

“We drew 1-1 with Barcelona in Turin, then we went to the Camp Nou to play for qualification.

 

“We went ahead through Nedved, Xavi pulled them level and we went down to 10 men when Davids was sent off.

 

“It was an infinite match, then in added time Birindelli crosses and Zalayeta scores.

 

“In that Champions League we destroyed the Spanish. Before Barcelona we had beaten Deportivo la Coruna and in the semi-finals we eliminated Real Madrid.”

 

Gianluigi Buffon, who won the World Cup with Lippi as well as two Scudetti at Juve came in for criticism for letting in Christian Eriksen’s free-kick on Tuesday night.

Max Allegri is increasingly the prime target for Paris Saint-Germain after Thomas Meunier hinted Unai Emery will be sacked.

 

The Juventus tactician has long been on their radar, but in recent weeks surpassed Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino in the management sweepstakes.

 

This is because of his excellent Champions League record, taking Juve to two Finals in three years and disposing of Spurs in the Round of 16.

 

Several French sources have already stated that Allegri is the favourite and now Le Parisien newspaper joins the chorus.

 

He has a contract with Juventus until June 2020, but could be tempted by the unrivalled wealth of PSG.

 

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Meunier accidentally confirmed what everyone suspected ever since the Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte has started talks with Paris Saint-Germain via his representatives, claims The Observer.

 

According to today’s report, Conte has been approached by PSG patron Nasser Al-Khelaifi to replace Unai Emery next season.

 

There are several other candidates, including Juventus boss Max Allegri – who was named as a strong contender by Le Parisien – Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino.

 

Conte has never hidden his irritation at Chelsea’s transfer strategy, repeatedly stating in public that his squad was too limited for several tournaments and he didn’t get the players he asked for.

 

PSG do not hold back on their spending and have made it clear their ambition is to win the Champions League, or at least progress beyond the Round of 16.

 

According to The Observer newspaper, Paris Saint-Germain’s approach to Conte is currently informal and he is simply being sounded out.

 

Conte also remains one of the contenders to take over the Italy job, a role he held from 2014 to 2016 before moving to Chelsea.

Juventus boss Max Allegri has won the Panchina d’Oro prize for best Serie A Coach of the past year.

 

Allegri beat off competition from Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini in second and Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri in third.

 

The 50-year-old guided Juve to their sixth consecutive Scudetto last season, as well as their third straight Coppa Italia.

 

He has also equalled Antonio Conte, Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello for winning the award three times.

The Bianconeri boss has been awarded the Panchina d’Oro for 2016-17, a prize handed out to the best tactician over the course of a season.

“I dedicate this award to my staff, who allow me to be here today, but also to the club which allows me to sit on such a prestigious bench.

Marcello Lippi has advised Max Allegri to ignore offers from abroad and stay at Juventus as ‘the Bianconeri are the absolute pinnacle’.

 

Allegri has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League clubs, but Lippi made it clear there was no better team for the Coach, while giving his opinion on the Serie A title race. 

 

“After putting everything on the scales, I must say that I see Juventus as favourites, but the difference is minimal and the table also says so,” the China boss, who led the Old Lady to five Scudetti, told Corriere della Sera.

 

“Juventus and Napoli have embarked on unthinkable paths so far. Then it happens that one of them stumbles against SPAL and the other loses at home to Roma.

 

“Napoli know that if they want to win the Scudetto, they must win at least win their game against Juve.

 

“At this point, the clash in Turin becomes decisive. Juventus have had the better of Napoli in recent years, but if Napoli want to win the Scudetto must pick up three points at the Allianz Stadium.

There are reports that Max Allegri will leave Juventus at the end of the season and one of the candidates is Carlo Ancelotti.

 

A complete revamp of the squad is planned after their Champions League capitulation to Real Madrid.

 

Juve pundit Luca Momblano even claims this afternoon that Allegri already announced to the squad that he would be walking away come June.

 

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, the club has already approached several candidates, including Ancelotti.

 

It would be a return to Turin for the tactician, who was famously a nearly-man as the Coach of Juve, but went on to huge success at Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

 

Ancelotti is currently taking a break after he was fired by Bayern and would prefer club football to the Italy job.

“Massimiliano Allegri will 100 per cent be the Juventus Coach next season,” director Beppe Marotta told Rai Sport amid speculation.

 

The tactician dropped hints in his Press conference on Saturday that he’d have to consider his motivation for continuing in the role and has for many months been linked with an experience in the Premier League.

 

“We spoke with Marotta a few hours ago and he authorised us to release this statement: Marotta denies all the reports of the last few days and affirms Massimiliano Allegri will 100 per cent be the Juventus Coach next season,” announced Rai Sport.

Carlo Ancelotti and Max Allegri are among those who could succeed Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager, but Thomas Tuchel is the favourite.

 

It was confirmed on Friday morning that Wenger would leave Arsenal at the end of the season after 22 years at the helm and a tenure that yielded 10 major trophies.

 

The onus has quickly turned to who will replace the Frenchman, and Ancelotti is the shortest-priced Italian at 6-1 to take over.

 

Allegri can be backed at 8-1, while other Coaches from the peninsula include Antonio Conte (25-1), Claudio Ranieri, Roberto Mancini (33-1) and Maurizio Sarri (both 40-1).

 

Elsewhere, former Arsenal and Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira is 5-1, ex-Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is 16-1, as is Gunners legend and Juventus old boy Thierry Henry, while Luis Enrique – once of Roma – is 20-1.

An impassioned Max Allegri insisted his Juventus players ‘can’t be criticised on any grounds’ for their 1-0 defeat to Napoli as ‘we’ve played 57 games a season’.

 

Napoli moved a point behind Juve at the top of Serie A and are considered to have the easier run-in, but Allegri leapt to his side’s defence, suggesting they were showing signs of tiredness.

 

“We’ve played 57 games in each of the last four seasons,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

 

“We’ve always reached the Coppa Italia Final, while we have made the Champions League Final twice and were eliminated [from the CL] with 30 seconds left on two occasions.

Arsenal reportedly want Max Allegri to become their next manager, but the Juventus boss ‘has concerns’ over the Gunners’ management structure.

 

According to Sky Sports, Allegri is Arsenal’s first choice to replace Arsene Wenger, alongside former Barcelona and Roma Coach Luis Enrique.

 

However, the broadcaster warns the Londoners’ complicated board situation has left both Coaches in doubt about succeeding Wenger, who will step down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge.

 

Arsenal have already suggested that Wenger’s heir will not have the same level of authority as the Frenchman, with the club recently appointing a head of recruitment in former Borussia Dortmund man Sven Mislintat.

Legendary Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi says Juventus’ Max Allegri “can’t be challenged” but warns “his way of playing isn’t the way to win in Europe”.

 

The Bianconeri have won the Scudetto for a seventh season in a row, with Allegri on the bench for four of those.

 

The Tuscan has also won the Coppa Italia in each of his four seasons, but Sacchi doesn’t feel this Juve can compare to his Diavolo.

 

“Juventus play an Italian style of football,” Sacchi said on Radio 24.

 

“Allegri can’t be challenged, his way of playing isn’t the way to win in Europe.

 

“At Milan we had a powerful club with a certain history. It wasn’t enough to win, we had to win and convince. Usually whoever plays best wins in the end.

Sacchi then discussed the current Serie A season.

 

“It was one of the most interesting Serie A seasons we’ve had. There were four or five teams that wanted to impose their game: I’m thinking of Sampdoria, Atalanta - even Benevento.

Sacchi and Allegri have clashed in the past, most notably on television after the Bianconeri lost 1-0 at Atletico Madrid in 2014.

Sacchi accused Juve of playing for a draw, something Allegri didn't appreciate.

The latest reports suggest Massimiliano Allegri had a positive meeting with Juventus, but a contract extension is unlikely.

 

The Coach met the Bianconeri leadership at the club’s Continassa HQ this morning, to discuss the plans for next season.

 

It was initially reported that President Andrea Agnelli wasn’t present, but he was seen leaving the meeting so evidently arrived early in the morning to avoid being photographed.

 

According to Sky and TuttoJuve, the meeting was very positive and Allegri will continue with the Old Lady for next season.

 

However, he will not extend his contract by a year until 2021 as had been previously reported.

 

Any extension would likely come after next season, as Juve won’t countenance going into a season with a Coach whose contract is expiring.

Real Madrid have reportedly been knocked back for Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri, but a deal is possible after the coming season.

 

Zinedine Zidane surprisingly resigned as Coach of Los Blancos, having won the Champions League for three seasons in a row.

 

Allegri has been suggested as a potential replacement, but Tuttosport reports that he won’t move this summer.

 

Juve want to continue with the Tuscan Coach, and he has already given his commitment to stay for next season.

 

However, a deal could be possible later, with the Bianconeri turning to their former player Zidane to replace Allegri.

Reports suggest Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri turned down an approach from Real Madrid to replace Zinedine Zidane.

 

The Frenchman surprisingly stepped down last week, having just secured a third Champions League triumph in a row.

 

Los Merengues were immediately linked with a move for the Bianconeri boss, but today’s Gazzetta dello Sport states that Allegri politely turned them down.

 

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani, a friend of Madrid President Florentino Perez, was used as an intermediary, having had a close relationship with Allegri during his time at San Siro.

 

The Juve Coach made it clear he was flattered by the approach, but that he didn’t intend to go back on his commitment to stay in Turin.

 

Allegri has already rejected Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal to stay with Juventus, and is in no hurry to leave the club,

Massimiliano Allegri confirms he could have joined Real Madrid or Chelsea but “I made the decision to stay at Juventus”.

 

The Bianconeri Coach was reported to have turned down the chance to succeed Zinedine Zidane, and was asked by Sky’s Marco Nosotti if that was the case.

 

“Let’s say I said yes to Juventus,” Allegri replied.

 

“I spoke to the President [Florentino Perez] once, and I said that out of respect for the President [Andrea Agnelli], to whom I’d given my word, and Juventus that I’d be staying at Juventus.

 

“It was a decision I’d already taken, and even if other things can happen in life I’d say that I made the decision to stay at Juventus and respected what I’d said, without considering other options.

 

“I have to thank the Real Madrid President though, for giving me the chance to go there.”

 

Was Allegri also called by Chelsea?

 

“Let’s just say that the decision to stay at Juventus had already been taken, while thanking the ones who sought me out.

 

“I’ve always said that the President will be the first to know if I want to leave, and the President will have to tell me if he wants to make a change.

 

“The Juventus project is renewed every year, and every year is competitive. Then Juventus is one of the strongest teams in the world.

 

“In any case, Juventus have been among the best in Europe for the past four years and we think we can continue to better what we started four years ago.

 

“I’m very happy to do that, together with the President, together with [general manager Beppe] Marotta, [sporting director Fabio] Paratici and [Vice-President Pavel] Nedved and with all those who work at Juventus.
