Juventus want to seal €20 million
deal for Chelsea's Cuadrado

Both the Colombian and the Bianconeri are keen to make the 27-year-old's loan deal
permanent at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, though the Blues may hold out for €25m.

Juventus are hoping to agree a €20 million (£14.8) deal with Chelsea for the outright purchase of winger Juan Cuadrado.

The Colombia international joined the Italian titleholders on a year-long loan deal just before the close of the summer transfer window.

The former Fiorentina attacker has unsurprisingly had little trouble settling back into Serie A, quickly becoming a regular in Massimiliano Allegri's starting line-up, and Juve now want to make the move permanent at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Indeed, the Old Lady is readying a €20m offer for Cuadrado, though Chelsea are believed to be looking for closer to €25m for a player that they only signed from Fiorentina for £23.3 million (€32m) in January.

Regardless, the Blues are not presently willing to start negotiation a fee, as they have more pressing on-field matters to contend with at the moment, with Jose Mourinho's future as manager in doubt after a dismal start to the Premier League champions' title defence.

However, Chelsea are keen to offload the 27-year-old, who managed no goals and just one assist in 15 appearances for the club before sent to Turin.

Consequently, Cuadrado's agent, Alessandro Lucci, is expected in London in the coming weeks to discuss his client's long-term future.

Juve are keen to wrap up a deal for the South American as quickly as possible, as the ex-Udinese ace is not short of admirers, particularly in Spain.

Cuadrado, though, is happy in Turin and is hoping that his stay will be made permanent as soon as possible.

Juan Cuadrado can lead Juventus' resurgence
and Max Allegri holds the key

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/10/8/9477723/juventus-juan-cuadrado-max-allegri-serie-a-champions-league-2015

Oct 8, 2015

It has been a very peculiar experience watching a Juventus player drizzle past defenders at ease with the ball at his feet, taking on one or two at a time before ruthlessly dropping them behind. And not just doing it sporadically but with every given opportunity, at speed and more often than not, doing it effectively.

It didn't really happen in the last few years, with the small exception represented by a certain blonde winger whose idea of defending involved something within the narrow margins of keeping a close eye on his man and following him from a safe distance while smoothing his rumpled feathers -- Milos Krasic.

But now, there is that feeling which struggles but keeps on fighting nonetheless against a strong set of conceptions already part of any tifoso bianconero DNA. That particular feeling that tries to persuade the brain into believing Juventus actually have a player capable of dribbling past opposition; capable of developing great pace in an instant in areas of the field where it matters the most, around the 18-yard box. A winger in either a 3-5-2 or a 4-3-3 formation, doing all of the above while also fulfilling his defensive duties and making the terrible absence of Stephan Lichtsteiner look less painful and less damaging.

Juan Cuadrado has been amazing to watch so far.

When the team had lacked consistence and failed to break through sturdy defences -- and it happened one time too many this season -- he would still perform his magic. Why then, you will ask, having had such a jolly joker in the team, Juventus registered results damnable even for a team of Atalanta-like calibre in the opening stages of the domestic campaign? And why, despite all his scintillating moves, Cuadrado only made a single assist in eight appearances in Serie A and Champions League?

Good questions. Pertinent questions.

Simply put, decision-making is not something Cuadrado masters. And joining a Juventus team alongside nine more new players who, just like him, had to adapt to a new club, training regimes and philosophy, did nothing to help him improve this. The level of chemistry within the squad was close to nought in the opening stages of the campaign, with Max Allegri constantly changing formations and shuffling the starting line up before each game. A good enough alibi then for failing to make his mesmerising skills count towards the team's results.

But it shouldn't happen anymore.

Before the international break, Juventus offered encouraging signs that they are back to the normal level, with commanding victories against Sevilla in the Champions League and Bologna. It seems that the team has started to click again and perhaps the return of Sami Khedira to action isn't a simple coincidence, nor is Alvaro Morata's re-emergence. Both of them have proved once more it is possible to influence the course of a game with dominant individual performances.

Cuadrado is more than capable of doing that as well, but a major improvement in his in-game decisions is needed. Learn to be able to discern when playing a simple pass is more effective than launching into yet another spectacular series of dribbles. A better timing of crosses and through balls for a natural-born target-man like Mario Mandzukic or Morata can easily lead to goals. The extravagant turns into success. The fantastic, into results.

The key to this rests solely with Allegri. He is the one who has to work closely with Cuadrado and decide how much freedom or how many restrictions the Colombian needs in order to deliver; to decide when a long-distance blast from an individual is worth taking a chance and when not. A version of Cuadrado that manages to take the best decisions at the right time could be influential enough for Juventus to surge all the way back to the top of the Serie A table. It is a matter of Allegri bringing the best out of him.

Juventus accelerate for Cuadrado?

http://www.football-italia.net/74265/juventus-accelerate-cuadrado?

Oct 13, 2015

Juventus could fast-track the redemption of Juan Cuadrado, in case Chelsea change their manager.

The Colombian is on loan from the English side, having failed to break into the team at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho.

However, following a poor start to the season, Mourinho is perhaps not as untouchable as he once was, and SportMediaset is linking Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone with the job if the Portuguese leaves.

The news outlet believes Simeone is a big admirer of Cuadrado, so the Bianconeri could look to do a deal to bring him to Turin permanently in the January transfer window.

The season-long loan does not included a buy-out clause, but it’s thought Mourinho would be willing to do a deal for the Colombian international.

Atletico Madrid want Juan Cuadrado

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/report-atletico-want-juan-cuadrado_252372.html

Oct 14, 2015

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Juan Cuadrado, who is currently on loan at Juventus, in the January window.

The Colombian international joined Chelsea from Fiorentina in January, but he struggled to make his mark in England and was sent on a season-long loan to Juventus in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

It is understood that Juve want to turn the loan deal into a permanent transfer, but according to AS, Atletico boss Diego Simeone is preparing to hijack the deal due to his long-term appreciation of the 27-year-old's talents.

Cuadrado, who played every minute of his country's run to the quarter-finals of the 2015 Copa America, has already made eight appearances for Juve this season.

Juventus- Chelsea agree Cuadrado fee?

http://www.football-italia.net/74562/juventus-chelsea-agree-cuadrado-fee?

Oct 20, 2015

Juventus have reportedly agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Juan Cuadrado permanently for a reduced price of €22m.

The Colombia international arrived on loan from the Blues in the summer after only six months in the Premier League, and has impressed for the Old Lady despite the team’s poor form.

The Bianconeri paid €1.5m in the summer for the loan, with the obligation to buy set at €25m.

However, giornalaccio rosa dello Sport has reported today that the two clubs have agreed a €3m discount for the Turin giants, with the transfer due to be completed when the January transfer window opens.

The 27-year-old has rediscovered some of his best form in a Juve shirt, and has proven to be important for Coach Massimiliano Allegri thanks to his ability to adapt to both 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 formations.

Cuadrado has made nine appearances in all competitions for the Old Lady this season, contributing two assists.

Marotta: ‘Cuadrado wants to stay’

http://www.football-italia.net/74713/marotta-%E2%80%98cuadrado-wants-stay%E2%80%99?

Oct 23, 2015

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta confirms on-loan Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado wants to stay in Turin.

The Colombian winger joined the Bianconeri this summer on a season-long loan, but without a redemption clause.

“We have no right of redemption, at Chelsea’s request,” Marotta acknowledged at the shareholder’s meeting.

“He’s expressed his happiness at being here with us, and [his happiness to] continue here in future.

“We’ll look at things with Chelsea at the appropriate time, but it’s very likely that there will be a good conclusion.”

Marotta was also asked about the capture of Hernanes, and admits signing the Brazilian from Inter was not the club’s first choice.

“Allegri never specifically asked for a trequartista. He gave us certain characteristics, but the formation is down to the players you have in the squad.

“Hernanes arrived in extremis, he wasn’t first choice, and we never thought we were bringing in a phenomenon, but he was available, and we like him.

“His sale represented an economic loss for Inter.”

The director also hinted that Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi could arrive in Turin next summer, despite selling him outright this year.

“At the moment he’s totally owned by Sassuolo,” Marotta explained.

“We’re monitoring him, and we’ll have a consultation at the end of the season. We have an excellent relationship with Sassuolo.”

Juventus 'very likely' to sign Cuadrado permanently

The Serie A champions are expecting to be able to seal the full
signing of the on-loan Colombian from Premier League side Chelsea.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2015/10/24/16632732/-?

Oct 24, 2015

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the Serie A champions are confident of sealing a deal to sign Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado on a permanent basis.

The Colombia international only spent six months at Stamford Bridge after signing from Fiorentina in January and joined Juve on loan for the 2015-16 campaign in August.

Cuadrado has made 10 appearances for Massimiliano Allegri's side since returning to Italy and Marotta has spoken of his confidence that a deal will be done to sign the 27-year-old, even though they do not have an automatic right to buy.

"We have no right of redemption, at Chelsea's request," he said at the club's shareholders meeting.

"Cuadrado has expressed his happiness at being here with us, as well as [his desire] to continue here in future.

"We will look at things with Chelsea at the appropriate time, but it is very likely that there will be a good conclusion."

Marotta also suggested that Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo could be a player who signs for Juventus in the future, despite the club selling their share of the 21-year-old forward's rights in the close-season.

"At the moment he is totally owned by Sassuolo," added the executive.

"We are monitoring him and we will have a consultation at the end of the season. We have an excellent relationship with Sassuolo."

Juve work out Cuadrado plan

http://www.football-italia.net/75056/juve-work-out-cuadrado-plan?

Oct 30, 2015

Multiple sources claim Juventus will meet Juan Cuadrado’s agent tomorrow to discuss making his move from Chelsea permanent.

The winger arrived in Turin on loan over the summer and rapidly rediscovered his old form.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium, agent Alessandro Lucci will be in Turin on Saturday for negotiations with Juve.

The meeting is due either before or after the big local derby against Torino.

While the deal was a dry loan, so without an option to make the move permanent, Chelsea have opened the door to letting Cuadrado go.

The Stamford Bridge side bought the Colombian from Fiorentina in February for £23.3m and the loan of Mohamed Salah.

However, it’s widely reported in Italy that Juve could buy Cuadrado for a significant discount.

Cuadrado: I've never scored a more important goal

The Colombian came off the bench to decide the fate of the Turin derby in the Serie A
champion's favour, and he said it was difficult to top such a vital strike.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2015/11/01/16883022/cuadrado-ive-never-scored-a-more-important-goal?ICID=TP_TNM_ART_1

Nov 1, 2015

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado has described his last-minute winner against Torino on Saturday as the most important goal of his career to date.

Paul Pogba put the Serie A champions ahead but Cesare Bovo's second-half equaliser looked to have earned a share of the spoils for Torino in the derby clash at Juventus Stadium.

However, Cuadrado converted Alex Sandro's cross in injury time to secure maximum points and send Juve up to 10th in the table, and the Chelsea loanee hopes the win can serve as a springboard for the rest of the campaign.

"It's the most important goal of my career so far. I've never been able to do something decisive like that at the last minute. It's a really good feeling," he told giornalaccio rosa dello Sport.

"This goal gives me a big boost. I'm sure victory in the derby will be a turning point.

"I believe in the Scudetto. Of course, we're in the position of having to treat each game like a final, but we don't lack quality. We're strong, we can recover.

"God helped us a little, because it was tough against a team like Torino, but I think we deserved the result."

Reports in Italy suggest Cuadrado's agent will attempt to negotiate a permanent move to Juventus over the coming days, and the Colombia international admits he is relishing life back in the Italian top flight.

"I hope Chelsea and Mourinho recover as soon as possible. They are strong, they'll react," he said of his parent club's struggles this season, which culminated in a 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday.

"I can't describe all my love for Serie A, Italian football, for a country that feels like a second home.

"I'm at 70 per cent at the moment, I want to achieve things when I hit my top form. We're almost there."

Juve seek January Cuadrado deal?

http://www.football-italia.net/75175/juve-seek-january-cuadrado-deal?

Nov 2, 2015

There are widespread reports that Juventus will try to sign Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado permanently in January.

The Colombia international, who joined the Premier League club from Fiorentina in January before returning to the peninsula six months later, has impressed in Turin.

He scored a dramatic late winner against Torino in the Derby della Mole on Saturday and the Bianconeri are reportedly looking to secure him as soon as possible.

Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport have both reported today that the Old Lady are working towards receiving a discount to sign Cuadrado permanently.

The winger is said to have been convinced to stay with Juve, but his buyout fee is currently set at a steep €25m plus bonuses.

Juventus directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici will reportedly work towards lowering the fee, with the hope of having a deal struck in the winter window.

However, a potential pitfall is the possibility of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho being sacked. The Portuguese is under pressure and, although he has let Cuadrado go, a successor may not be so willing.

Juventus to try and sign Juan Cuadrado
outright from Chelsea in January

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/11/2/9657334/juan-cuadrado-juventus-chelsea-serie-a-epl-2015-transfer-rumors

Nov 2, 2015

When Juan Cuadrado hit the ground running — both literally and figuratively — to begin his Juventus career, you kind of figured it would be something that the Italian media would start to speculate about. Cuadrado is on loan, and clearly not wanted by Chelsea after his move to the English champions last all of about, oh, six months.

While Cuadrado — even with his goal against Torino over the weekend — has cooled off a little bit, the talk of him having more than just a one-season stay at Juventus hasn't died down by any means.

According to both Italian sports dailies Tuttosport and the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport on Monday, Juventus want to make their acquisition of Cuadrado a permanent one. And not next summer, but come the January transfer window, which is quickly approaching come the turn of the calendar to 2016. Enough with the loan move for the 27-yard-old Colombian

Good move? Bad move? Wait-and-see-how-he-does-come-May kind of move?

Through 15 or so games, an argument for each of those scenarios can be made. At least I think that's the case.

Obviously Cuadrado has found a liking to being back in Serie A, a place where he was one of the best before his move to England and Chelsea. Is he €25 million good, though? That's the question ... and the reported release clause it would take to get Cuadrado's move to become permanent whenever a deal is going to potentially happen.

But, knowing how Beppe Marotta works, if that €25 million price tag that Tuttosport has any truth behind, then there's no way they're going to just hand over that kind of money to Chelsea. You know Marotta and Fabio Paratici will go into negotiation mode to try and get the price to a much more Juventus-friendly figure.

Who knows, though. If Cuadrado keeps being relatively productive, I don't doubt that Juve will try to sign Cuadrado come January or during the summer transfer window. There's truth to this, sure, but we just don't know when it will actually happen. Some will probably prefer it to be over the summer because we've seen Cuadrado play an entire season and the sample size is much better to gage just how Cuadrado may fit into the club's plans going forward next season.

Juventus agree £15.75m Juan Cuadrado fee with Chelsea

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/report-juventus-agree-gbp15m-cuadrado-fee_255757.html

Cuadrado to Juventus in January?

http://www.football-italia.net/75767/cuadrado-juventus-january?

Nov 14, 2015

Juventus could sign Juan Cuadrado outright from Chelsea as soon as January, reports suggest.

The Colombian winger joined the Bianconeri on a free loan this summer, scoring once and providing three assists in his 10 Serie A appearances thusfar.

According to La Stampa, Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta is working to bring the 27-year-old on a permanent basis as soon as January.

The newspaper believes that a fee of around €20m will be enough to sign Cuadrado outright, which would represent a loss of around €13m for Chelsea.

Cuadrado: 'Juve at the top'

http://www.football-italia.net/75996/cuadrado-juve-top?

Nov 19, 2015

Juan Cuadrado admits he was desperate for a return to Italy after Chelsea and Juventus will be “at the top.”

The Colombian spent just six months in London following a January transfer from Fiorentina, but returned to Serie A on loan and is expected to make it permanent.

“The idea of coming back to Italy attracted me a lot,” he told UEFA.com.

“I know the football here, I know the language and the people, and the truth is it feels like my second home. So when I had to decide about whether to take this chance or not, I talked to my agent every day about my return. And now I am very happy to be here at Juventus.

“When you already know the language and the people then it makes it a lot easier for you. And there being a lot of players from South America in the team – that also helps.

“Coming to the team was no problem, it's a great team with great players and great personalities, and they really embraced me in the best way possible.”

Cuadrado had first come to Italy for Udinese in 2009, so has spent most of his career in the Peninsula.

“It was difficult to leave my family, my friends and actually almost everything behind. But it was always something I'd had in mind.

“You have to make sacrifices in life and this is what I had dreamt of since I was a boy, to play in Europe. It was a nice opportunity for me and I had to take advantage of it.

“When I came here it wasn't easy and at Udinese there was a lot of competition for places. I didn't play much. But everywhere I have been, I have always thought that having made it to Europe, I could not return. I want to be a great footballer in Europe.

“Fiorentina really helped my development. Playing in Europe means a lot of tactics and that took me a while to get used to, but you have to improve day in, day out.”

Juventus reached the Champions League Final last season, so with Cuadrado in the side can they repeat that?

“We all know that Juventus are a big club. We are a strong team, we can be competitive and we are right up there. But we must take it match by match and make sure we make the next round.

“It has always been important for Juventus to be at the top and I am convinced that this great team can achieve that.”

Cuadrado: Juventus Do Not Fear
Champions League Elite

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/12/cuadrado-juventus-do-not-fear-champions-league-elite/?

Dec 14, 2015

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado is aiming for first place in Serie A this year and also thinks his team have a realistic chance of advancing far in the Champions League.

The Bianconeri overcame Fiorentina 3-1 on Sunday night in the Italian top-flight, which takes them up to fourth place in the domestic league standings, and Cuadrado believes they fully deserved all three points.

“I am very happy with the win,” he told Premium Sport after the game. “We have prepared well over the past few days and I think we deserved it.”

Discussing the Old Lady’s Scudetto chances this term, the Colombian international warned that the squad would have to continue playing well and also be wary of current leaders Inter.

“We have to continue like this, game after game, we have to aim to be in first place,” he added.

“Although the favourite for now is Inter who are doing very well.”

Cuadrado is currently on-loan at Juventus from English Premier League side Chelsea, although he is glad to have escaped the restraints of the Premier League and is now content in Italy.

“I did not have the space that I wanted to show my skills whilst I was there, but now I am very happy,” he said.

In recent weeks, Massimiliano Allegri’s side secured qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League and the former Viola man remains optimistic about their chances, despite teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid being potential opponents.

“They are all strong teams but we can play on par with everyone,” he concluded.

“We will try to win against anyone.”

Cuadrado Key To Juventus Deal For Chelsea Star

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2016/01/cuadrado-key-to-juventus-deal-for-chelsea-star/?

Jan 2, 2016

A deal for Juventus’ on-loan Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado could signal Brazilian playmaker Oscar making the same move to the Serie A giants.

The Old Lady have been seeking an attacking midfielder since the summer, with Sevilla man Ever Banega and Isco of Real Madrid also heavily linked with filling the gap in Massimiliano Allegri’s ideal formation that is temporarily being occupied by Paul Pogba.

Juventus’ move to sign Oscar in July was rebuffed by the Blues, but now Tuttosport believe that Chelsea will be ready to accept a cut-price deal should the Bianconeri also take Colombian winger Cuadrado off their hands and sign him on a permanent basis.

Former Fiorentina man Cuadrado was a revelation in Tuscany before joining Chelsea in January 2015, but his progress stalled due to a lack of playing time and only while back in Serie A has he found anything like the form that attracted the Premier League side in the first place.

Cuadrado: ‘Dance moves with Pogba’

http://www.football-italia.net/77847/cuadrado-%E2%80%98dance-moves-pogba%E2%80%99

Jan 4, 2016

Juan Cuadrado explains his dance celebrations with Juventus teammate Paul Pogba - “we prepare them in the dressing room.”

The pair have become well-known for celebrating together whenever either scores, and the Colombian international explained the custom in an interview with Sky.

“We sometimes prepare them in the dressing room, or at the training camp,” Cuadrado told the news outlet.

“He likes to listen to music beside me, and I often go to his room to talk to him like: ‘if you score a goal, I’ll do this’.

“Then if we score a goal we try to celebrate like that.

“Have we planned the next one? No, not yet.

“The music? Reggae, salsa, South American music… Paul and I even like to listen to Ghanaian or Nigerian stuff.”

Cuadrado: Every game is now a final for Juventus

Following a slow start to the season, the Italian champions are
climbing up the Serie A table after winning their last seven league games.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2016/01/05/18998712/cuadrado-every-game-is-now-a-final?ICID=TP_HN_3

Jan 6, 2016

Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado says he and his team-mates must treat every game until the end of the season "like a final".

The Italian champions endured a difficult start to their Serie A campaign, winning just one of their opening six fixtures.

Things have since gotten better, with Juve on a run of seven successive wins, sitting just three points behind league leaders Inter.

"The unity of the group has been the secret of our comeback," Cuadrado told Sky Italia.

The Colombian international pin-pointed October's 2-1 derby win against Torino as a turning point in his and Juve's season.

Cuadrado scored the winner in stoppage time - his first goal in over ten months of competitive action.

"For me that was very important, because I was coming off a long drought," he said.

"For the team it was a point of inflection, we knew we had to win that game.

"Since we have gotten big results and we will keep playing every game like a final."

Cuadrado-Juve talks open

http://www.football-italia.net/78979/cuadrado-juve-talks-open?

Jan 27, 2016

Juventus and Chelsea have reportedly opened talks for Juan Cuadrado's future, as the Bianconeri want him permanently for less than the agreed €20m.

The Colombia international arrived at the Old Lady on a one-year loan in the summer, with the option to buy for €20m.

Tuttosport writes today that talks have already opened between the two clubs to decide on the winger’s future.

The newspaper believes that the Bianconeri are hoping to complete the signing of Cuadrado for a reduced price of less than the previously agreed figure.

However, the outlet believes that negotiations will be a long process and are unlikely to be resolved until February or March.

Juventus want Juan Cuadrado to sign
from Chelsea on permanent deal

Juventus would like to hold on to Colombia international Juan Cuadrado beyond the end of the season when his loan from Chelsea expires, according to the club's general director Giuseppe Marotta.

Cuadrado, 27, moved to Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina last February, signing a four-and-a-half year contract with a reported fee of €35 million. But the forward failed to settle into Jose Mourinho's team and he wound up being loaned to Juventus during the 2015 summer transfer window.

"He is on loan but for the squad and his tactical flexibility we really need him," Marotta told Rai Sport ahead of Juve's 3-0 Coppa Italia first-leg win against Inter Milan. "He plays in a different way compared to all our other midfielders.

"Cuadrado could help us a lot and we are happy about his performances. We will try to hold on to him for the next campaign."

Cuadrado also appeared to be open to the idea when asked after the match about the Bianconeri's chances of success this season after the match.

"We have not won anything yet, we need to continue the way we are going," he told RAI. "Juventus are the best club I have ever played for. Even when things were not going well, I was convinced we would lift ourselves up."

RUMOURS: Cuadrado keen on Barcelona move

The Chelsea winger is on loan at Juventus but the Bianconeri are unlikely to make
the deal permanent at the end of the season, leading to renewed links with Spanish clubs.

Juan Cuadrado's agent will sound out Barcelona over a potential move for his client when his loan at Juventus expires, according to Don Balon.

The Chelsea winger has made 16 appearances in Serie A this season but the Italian champions are unlikely to take up their option to sign him permanently in the summer.

Cuadrado lasted just half a season at Stamford Bridge and is unlikely to have a future in the Premier League, with his agent pushing for a move to Spain.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly admirers of Cuadrado but have so far been unable to do a deal and Barcelona unsuccessfully attempted to sign the Colombian in 2014 with a view to deploying him as an attacking right-back.

Spanish interest in Cuadrado?

http://www.football-italia.net/79192/spanish-interest-cuadrado

Jan 31, 2016

Reports in Spain claim Juan Cuadrado has been offered to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The winger is on loan at Juventus, but without a redemption clause, so the Bianconeri would have to negotiate with Chelsea for a permanent transfer.

The English side want to recoup as much of the €30m they paid for the Colombian international as possible, but CalcioNews24 reports that the Turin giants are not entirely convinced by Cuadrado, so don’t want to spend big money to get him.

According to Don Balon, the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci has offered his client to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the event Juve don’t sign Cuadrado outright.

Atleti are believed to be the more likely option, as Barça signed Aleix Vidal in the summer, so are well-covered at right wing.

Barcelona Set To Challenge Juventus For Chelsea Winger

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2016/01/barcelona-set-to-challenge-juventus-for-chelsea-winger/?

Jan 31, 2016

Juventus may face stiff competition from Spanish giants Barcelona in their bid to sign Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado.

Having joined the Bianconeri on a season-long loan in the summer, the club had already expressed their willingness to make the deal permanent and allegedly came close to sealing a deal at the start of January.

However, Don Balon have now reported that the reigning European champions have reignited their previous interest in the player and that his agent has already spoken to the Catalan club about a potential move to La Liga.

The versatile midfielder originally departed Serie A from Fiorentina last January, as he moved to Premier League side Chelsea for a fee of €30 million, although he was soon allowed to leave London after failing to cement a place in the Blues starting XI.

Since switching to Turin in August, the 27-year-old has made a total of 16 appearances in Serie A, scoring two goals and assisting three.

The Curious Case of Juan Cuadrado: Should
Juventus sign him permanently this summer?

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2016/2/9/10940274/juan-cuadrao-juventus-chelsea-2016-serie-a-transfers

Feb 9, 2016

Confession: At the time of this article I am absolutely smitten with Juan Cuadrado. He has managed to dribble his way right into my heart. But, enough with the man crushes and lame cliches that us Juventini deal with day in and day out with our boys in black and white.

The real task at hand is come June should Juventus attempt to make Cuadrado’s stay at Juventus permanent. Rumours of a pre-agreed €22 million fee have been discussed extensively since Cuadrado joined Max Allegri’s squad at Vinovo in late-August. Although, those rumours have not been confirmed by any parties involved in the potential transfer. It has been a hot topic issue with Juventus fans the past month or so, and Cuadrado’s recent electric performances against Genoa and Frosinone have left fans hoping that his time with the Old Lady does not end abruptly come summer.

If Beppe Marotta’s statements are true, then the likelihood of seeing JC16 (just throwing this nickname out there) are becoming increasingly more likely.

"He is on loan but for the squad and his tactical flexibility we really need him. He plays in a different way compared to all our other midfielders. Cuadrado could help us a lot and we are happy about his performances. We will try to hold on to him for the next campaign."

Let’s assess some of Cuadrado’s strengths and weaknesses and how he has fit in well with his teammates, according to whoscored.com. Cuadrado has played 26 games for Juventus this season (in all competitions) including 15 starting appearances scoring three goals and adding four assists. As an offensive-minded player, initial reactions to these stats would be worrisome. However, in Max Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation, Cuadrado is expected to do so much more than just attack. Under Allegri’s tutelage we have seen Cuadrado improve his defensive abilities tremendously. One particular instance that comes to mind is Cuadrado's excellent trackback to thwart a Genoa counter attack late in the game last Wednesday.

Cuadrado was absolutely superb in this game. His knack for timely goals has proven key to Juventus' 14-game winning streak. I don't need to remind anyone of Cuadrado's famous derby goal against Torino, but the one that really sticks out to me is the one scored against Fiorentina in December. Down 1-0 after a third-minute Josip Ilicic penalty, Allegri's men equalized almost immediately after through Cuadrado's excellent looping header that fooled Tatarusanu.

Needless to say, Cuadrado has contributed as much as any in Juventus' climb back up the table.

His versatility and spontaneous behavior with the ball has been a godsend throughout this season. He offers much more offensively than Stephan Lichtsteiner when moving forward and, although he does not compare to the Swiss Express defensively, he has improved steadily under Allegri. Let's also remember that even though Lichtsteiner appears to have no intentions of slowing down, he is four years older than Cuadrado and signing the 27-year-old Colombian permanently could go a long way to finding Lichtsteiner's future replacement.

Another key feature in Cuadrado's game is his ability to draw fouls late in-game when Juve are trying to close it out. How many times did we see it against Genoa after Simone Zaza's expulsion — Cuadrado gets ball, Cuadrado gets fouled, Juve moves up the field. Rinse and repeat. This will come in handy as we delve farther into the season and gasp are maybe trying to preserve a lead in a Champions League Round of 16 match? Only time will tell if we see Cuadrado in black and white stripes next season, but if it were up to me, I believe he has done enough to earn himself an extended stay with the Old Lady.

PS. You never need a reason to go back and revisit a 93rd-minute derby goal. Back to you, Juan.

Cuadrado Juve's difference-maker

Juan Cuadrado has proved an essential figure for Juventus this season
and Luca Cetta believes that bodes well ahead of Napoli’s trip to Turin.

http://www.football-italia.net/79661/cuadrado-juves-difference-maker?

Feb 10, 2016

Juventus huffed and puffed. Try as they might, they could not blow the Frosinone house down. At the same time and not too far south, Napoli were locked in a fight of their own against Carpi. Expected to be a comfortable Sunday for both ahead of the Scudetto showdown, it became one of those ugly yet pivotal afternoons in the title race.

When Napoli needed a cool head from the penalty spot, the irrepressible Gonzalo Higuain delivered. Meanwhile, it was Juan Cuadrado who responded to Juve’s cries. His 73rd minute strike broke the deadlock in what was an increasingly frustrating outing for the Bianconeri. When Paulo Dybala sealed the result in injury time, Massmiliano Allegri’s men could breathe a sigh of relief.

It was just a third goal of the season for the Colombian, but a typically important one. Victory over Frosinone was Juve’s 14th in succession, a club record kick-started by Cuadrado. His dramatic Turin Derby winner proved the catalyst for Juventus. They have not looked back since. It was the same combination as on Sunday – Alex Sandro’s low cross for a Cuadrado finish.

After Fiorentina took an early lead at Juventus Stadium in December the winger produced the equaliser, a rare headed goal, against his former club. And while last week’s winner versus Genoa went down as a Sebastian De Maio own goal, the Colombian’s creativity was decisive. All four occasions have ended with the Old Lady securing maximum points.

Juve’s use of a 3-5-2 means he is not always a starter – the Stadio Matusa outing was only Cuadrado’s 11th in Serie A – but his ability to make things happen and the versatility he offers makes him a dangerous weapon. Hence the seven substitute appearances – only Alvaro Morata has appeared from the bench more – highlighting Allegri knows he can make an impact.

The tactician had constructive criticism for the winger earlier this term, stating after the victory over Sevilla: “He is starting to realise when to pass the ball. If he learns the timing and when to set up his teammates, he can become simply unstoppable.” In recent weeks words have turned to praise: “Juan Cuadrado has done very well so far and has improved in tactical, physical and technical terms.”

On loan from Chelsea, Cuadrado’s x-factor and unpredictability is exactly why Juventus should aim to make his spell in Turin a permanent one. The no.16 has the ingenuity to unlock a tight defence, just as he helped do against Genoa and Frosinone. And they are keen on securing the 27-year-old’s signature. A recent Tuttosport report suggested Juve want him for next season and beyond, but hope to negotiate the apparently agreed €20m price.

It’s his spark which excites, says director general Giuseppe Marotta. “In tactical terms he is very different to the other players, so it’s only normal he suits us,” he remarked in late January. “We are happy with what he’s doing both on and off the field, so certainly he is someone we’ll try to keep in Turin next season too.”

As Juventus host Napoli in this Saturday’s match of the season, the Colombian international will aim to add to his list of vital strikes. A win will see Allegri’s side leapfrog the Partenopei at the top of the table with 13 matches remaining. The spotlight is sure to shine on the all-Argentine duel between Dybala and Higuain, but the fleet-footed winger can be a menace to Maurizio Sarri’s team. And when Juventus come up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League his speed and trickery is also something Allegri can aim to unleash.

Cuadrado is in the frame to start on Saturday given the defensive injuries which have hit the Bianconeri. That’s not ideal ahead of a season-defining clash. But just as he has throughout the campaign, look for Cuadrado to make an impact when it counts.
