Juventus swoop in, agree to deal for Inter transfer target Juan Cabal

Surprise transfer move incoming!

Atalanta BC v Hellas Verona FC - Serie A TIM

Because of financial issues both clubs have had over the last couple of years, it hasn’t been often that Juventus and Inter Milan have rivaled one another for a player on the transfer market. When they have rivaled one another for a player, that has usually meant Juve coming in and snatching an Inter target right from under their noise, the most notable being Bremer two summers ago in the wake of Matthijs de Ligt heading to Bayern Munich.

Well, my friends, I have something to say: It’s time to add another one to the list.

According to multiple reports, Juventus and Hellas Verona have agreed to a deal for fullback Juan Cabal. What makes it all the more of a surprising move is that Juve’s arch rival, Inter, looked all set themselves to sign Cabal until about 12 hours ago before Cristiano Giuntoli jumped in and snatched the 23-year-old Colombian away from Beppe Marotta’s hands. Juve will reportedly pay around €12 million to Hellas Verona for Cabal, who arrived in Italy from Colombia in 2022 after playing for Atlético Nacional.

Cabal will be paid around €1.2 million per season.

Considering that this will be a deal involving two Serie A clubs, Juventus are still able to make it happen even though Cabal would normally take up a non-EU spot on the roster. ............

Cabal, on paper, very much fits the mold of what you would expect a Thiago Motta-managed fullback would like to do. ............

Sound defensively and somebody who is able to contribute on the offensive end of things? Well, well, well .. that sounds like something that Motta can certainly use on his team. It will reportedly cost Juventus a couple million euros more than what Inter was set to pay. ............

Cabal will be just the second-ever Colombian player to appear for Juventus’ senior squad after Cuadrado.

Genoa insists on their asking price for Juventus target

Gudmundsson, è lotta Inter-Juventus: la situazione

Last season, Juventus followed Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson closely as he consistently delivered good performances for the Griffin.

He ended the season with 14 goals and 4 assists and could have left Genoa in January. ............

Genoa is looking to sell the 27-year-old for 35m euros and they prefer a cash-only deal.

They insist he is worth at least that fee, but his suitors, including Juve, disagree.

The Bianconeri do not consider him such an important target, and they certainly will not pay that much money to sign him.

His other suitors seem to share the same sentiment and will probably not move to sign him unless Genoa reduces their asking price. ............

Soule is now complicating Juventus summer plans with his insistence on joining Roma

Soulé Juve, i 25 milioni del Leicester non bastano: i bianconeri chiedono più soldi

Matias Soule does not want to move to the Premier League, where Leicester City wants to sign him, and this is bad news for Juventus. ............

Leicester City is willing to pay €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons to sign him now.

However, the attacker prefers to move to AS Roma because he wants to stay in Serie A.

The Giallorossi are also interested in signing him, but they are only willing to pay €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons for his signature.

This means Juve will miss out on a significant amount if they cannot get him to change his mind and move to the Premier League club. ............

Atalanta CEO insists they do not have plans to sell Koopmeiners

Report: Juve target Teun Koopmeiners prefers staying in Serie A this summer - Black & White & Read All Over

Most football fans expect Teun Koopmeiners to move to Juventus this summer from Atalanta as Juve looks to raise funds to add him to their squad.

The Bianconeri have been following the Dutchman since last season and have decided he is the main man to add to their team. ............

Atalanta are planning for the future with him after securing a return to the Champions League, and their CEO, Luca Percassi, insists it has never been their plan to sell him.

He said:

“Koopmeiners is a key player for Atalanta and his transfer was not foreseen by the club, I am clear, his transfer was never foreseen.” ............

Juventus are on the verge of signing Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona and the two roles the Colombian can cover suggest he may be a new Riccardo Calafiori for Thiago Motta in Turin.

Verona defender Cabal arrived in Turin this morning to undergo medical tests with Juventus ahead of a permanent €12m transfer, including add-ons. ............

His versatility reminds of Bologna star Calafiori who joined the Rossoblu as a left-back last summer, but developed into a centre-back under Motta at the Stadio Dall’Ara in 2023-24.

Motta will be unveiled as the new Juventus coach at a press conference later today when he will likely discuss his ideas on Cabal. ............

There are, however, clear differences between the two defenders, as their price tags suggest.

As mentioned, Cabal will move to Turin on a €10m deal plus €2m add-ons, while Calafiori is expected to join Arsenal for over €50m. ............

Cabal is a year older than Calafiori, but the Italian international was clearly unaffordable for the Bianconeri after impressive performances for Bologna and during the Euros. ............

Juventus have officially signed Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona for €11m plus up to another €3.8m in bonuses, snatching him from under the noses of Inter.

The left-back, who can also play as a central defender, had been all set for a move to San Siro after the clubs agreed a €10m plus bonuses move and personal terms too.

However, yesterday Juve swooped in and suddenly managed to secure a deal instead. ............

Juventus have paid Verona €11m – payable over three financial years – with the addition of ancillary costs up to €1.8m.

There are also performance-related bonuses of up to €2m.

Cabal has signed a contract with the Bianconeri to June 2029. ............

Juan Cabal had a photograph on social media of himself as a child in a counterfeit Juventus jersey, but now gets to wear it for real after an €11m transfer. ‘I was always a Juve fan.’

This perhaps explains why the Colombia international was so eager to switch over and join the Bianconeri yesterday, despite having already agreed personal terms and a move to Inter.

When Cristiano Giuntoli approached, the 23-year-old had no doubts and passed his medical this morning, completing the transfer from Hellas Verona for €11m plus up to €3.8m in bonuses.

“I am very happy, as this is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am so overjoyed to wear this jersey,” Cabal told the official club website.

Following the swoop, an image went viral from Cabal’s social media accounts showing him as a kid in a knock-off Juve shirt.

JuveFC (@juvefcdotcom) / X

“As a kid, I wore this jersey that was not an original one, and now I get to wear the legendary Juventus shirt and I am so happy. I was always a Juve fan.” ............

“I am someone who can play both positions, I’m very quick and well-behaved, both on and off the field. My idols are Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos.” ............

“Everyone in Colombia is celebrating, because this is an important step for me, my family and all the kids who also have a dream and can see me making it happen.”

Juventus is considering a move for 25-year-old Bundesliga attacker

Robin-Hack.jpg

Juventus’ summer plans to improve their squad have taken them to Germany, where reports link them with a move for Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Robin Hack.

The attacker scored ten goals for Gladbach last season, and Juve has been closely monitoring him.

The Bianconeri are rebuilding their squad and have already sold Moise Kean in this transfer window. More attackers are expected to follow him out, with Arkadiusz Milik and Federico Chiesa reportedly available for transfer. ............

Juventus has been impressed by the 25-year-old’s profile and is looking to add him to their squad in the coming weeks. ............

Roma are set to increase their offer for Matias Soulé to €28m, which is still below both Leicester City’s proposal and the Juventus asking price, but the player wants them.

According to multiple sources this evening, the offer of €26m was turned down by the Bianconeri. ............

Juventus want €35m to sell the Argentine wide forward, while Leicester City have already made a proposal worth €29m.

The deal could eventually be done for €30m, as Soulé has made it perfectly clear he does not want to go to England for Leicester City or West Ham United. ............

Xavier Jacobelli reckons Juventus target is worth 60 million euros

Juve wil talent voor 35 miljoen verkopen om geld vrij te maken voor Koopmeiners'

Journalist Xavier Jacobelli has commented on Juventus’ pursuit of Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta.

The midfielder is their main target for the summer, and Juve considers him the player who will complete their midfield rebuild. ............

Juve is working to raise the necessary funds, and according to Jacobelli, this fee reflects the quality of the Dutchman and is a fair valuation.

“The 60 million euros Atalanta are asking for Koopmeiners is a fair price and the success of the operation will depend on Juventus. On the other hand, the fact that Chiesa and Soulé are on the market means that he is looking for money to sign the Dutchman. Atalanta has a contract with him until 2027, so they are in a strong position.” ............

Verona president discusses Juventus hijack of Cabal’s move to Inter Milan

Cabal.jpg

Juventus has just completed the signing of Juan Cabal, despite it initially seeming that he was heading to Inter Milan. ............

Juventus managed to hijack the move from their bitter rivals, although Verona’s president Maurizio Setti suggests that they didn’t have a formal agreement with Inter before Juventus stepped in to secure the signing.

“No, there has never been a real advantage but internal and shared choices. Everyone is happy, it should always be like this, it is not always like this but today it was good”. ............

Koopmeiners returns to action for Atalanta as he waits for Juventus

Koopmeiners persoonlijk akkoord met Napoli, bod van 37 miljoen euro ingediend'

Teun Koopmeiners has recovered from the injury that forced him to miss Euro 2024 and played his first game for Atalanta yesterday.

The Dutchman has agreed to move to Juventus and continue his career in Turin, but the Bianconeri must agree on a transfer fee with Atalanta before he can leave. .............

He started Atalanta’s game against their U19 side.

It was an in-house friendly game that provided an opportunity to assess the players’ fitness levels, and Koopmeiners returned to action.

He started and played the first 45 minutes without any problems, which should reassure Juve that he has no fitness issues to worry about. .............

Matias Soulé informed Leicester City and Juventus via his agent that he only wants to join Roma, even if the Premier League side is offering more. .............

They note that Soulé and his representative made clear once again today that it does not matter if Leicester City or any other club is going to offer more for the transfer fee or his wages.

Juventus respect that, but need Roma to bump up their proposal from €28m to at least €30m.

He is absolutely convinced that Roma is the right step for his career after speaking directly to coach Daniele De Rossi, fellow Argentines Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes.

It is not about finances or even ambition, so much as the sporting project and also the lifestyle he would enjoy in Rome. .............
