Juventus monitoring Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa

http://www.juvefc.com/juventus-monitoring-bayern-munich-winger-douglas-costa/

Mar 9, 2017

Juventus are monitoring the situation of Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa who is reportedly set to leave the German champions in the summer.

According to Bild, the Bianconeri have requested information on the Brazilian winger who is believed to be unhappy at Die Roten and angling for a move away.

Speaking after Bayern’s 5-1 hammering of Arsenal, Costa said: “I speak to the club often. We talk about my situation, if I’ll stay here or if I have to find another team to play for. I’m not always that happy here. But soon we will find a situation.”

Both Bild and UK based daily rag ‘The Sun’ report that the Brazilian is unhappy playing second-fiddle to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben and is growing ever more frustrated at his limited playing time.

Given Juve’s dealings with Bayern and the impending conclusion of Kinglsey Coman’s transfer to Germany on a permanent basis, the Bianconeri are reportedly in the lead to sign Costa if he does vie for a move away this summer.

Juventus want Bayern’s Douglas Costa

http://www.juvefc.com/juventus-want-bayerns-douglas-costa/

Apr 3, 2017

Juventus want Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa and have made contact with German champions over a possible transfer.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juve’s interest in the player is genuine and there have been preliminary contacts between the two clubs regarding a transfer. When discussing the possible redemptions of Kingsley Coman and Medhi Benatia, the Bianconeri took the opportunity to discuss the Brazilian winger who they have been monitoring for some time.

Costa is very familiar with 4-2-3-1 system which Juve are currently using and is believed to be the perfect option for the wings, especially as Bianconeri boss Max Allegri is a big admirer of the player who has featured in limited appearances for Bayern this season.

The initial valuation of the player is believed to be €50m, however Juventus are confident that they can negotiate the figure to closer to €30-35m for the former Shakhtar forward, especially as the Bavarians are believed to be pushing forward in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt, who could move to Munich in the summer. In Germany there is real optimism about the possibility of seeing Douglas Costa at Juventus next season.

Juve to meet Bayern for Costa

May 12, 2017

Reports suggest that Juventus will meet Bayern Munich executives in order to discuss a deal for winger Douglas Costa.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Fabio Paratici and Beppe Marotta from Juventus are due meet with officials from the Bavarian club to discuss the situation with Medhi Benatia.

During these negotiations, it’s reported that the Bianconeri will lay the foundation for summer negotiations over Costa, with whom they have been linked with over several months.

The 26-year-old has suffered a lack of playing time this season under Carlo Ancelotti, with just 14 Bundesliga starts, although has endured a series of minor injuries.

Juventus begin negotiations for Douglas Costa

May 14, 2017

Juventus could begin their summer by signing Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa, having already begun negotiations for the player.

According to Spanish paper ‘Libero’, the Brazilian winger has already spoken with Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti and expressed his intention to leave the club this summer having featured mainly from the bench this season.

Juve have been following the player closely and the report suggests that the Bianconeri have already begun negotiations for the 26-year-old who could complete a move for anything up to €25m.

Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in the player but given Juve’s strong relations with the German champions following the transfers of Kingsley Coman, Medhi Benatia and Arturo Vidal, the Bianconeri may have an edge over the competition.

Juve-Man Utd for Douglas Costa

http://www.football-italia.net/103039/juve-man-utd-douglas-costa

May 23, 2017

Juventus and Manchester United are the main contenders for Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa.

According to newspapers Tuttosport and The Sun, he is waiting until after the Europa League Final between Manchester United and Ajax before making a decision.

That is because he wants to be at a club in the Champions League and Jose Mourinho’s United will only qualify if they win that trophy, having finished outside the top four of the Premier League.

The Brazilian has made it clear he is unhappy at the lack of playing time this season, managing only 14 starts for Bayern.

Douglas Costa was a big investment, moving from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2015 for €30m.

He has three goals in 18 caps for Brazil and is under contract with Bayern Munich until 2020.

Able to play on the left or right wing, he’d fit very well into Max Allegri’s 4-2-3-1 system.

Szczesny done, Juve look to Costa or Di Maria

Jun 6, 2017

Juventus have a deal in place for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and are turning their attention to Angel Di Maria and Douglas Costa.

Sky Sport Italia report that the Bianconeri are working on two names for the attack this summer: Douglas Costa and Angel Di Maria, with one of them expected to join the club for next season. Despite Juve’s poor relations with PSG, Sky transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that a possible transfer isn’t impossible and Juve could match the wages he earns at the French club.

Di Marzio also reports that a deal for Szczesny has been concluded with Juventus and Arsenal agreeing a fee of  €14m [£12.2m] plus €2m in bonuses for the Polish international.

Szczesny has reportedly agreed a four-year contract worth €4m per season, which would rise to €4.5m in the final year.

Lucescu: Costa, join Juve

http://www.football-italia.net/103766/lucescu-costa-join-juve

Jun 7, 2017

Mircea Lucescu has urged former Shakhtar Donetsk protégé Douglas Costa to leave Bayern Munich and join Juventus this summer.

Costa struggled for game time under Carlo Ancelotti last season, prompting speculation that he could leave Bayern over the next couple of months, and Lucescu believes the winger is ready-made for Juve.

“I noticed ‘Duki’ in Brazil’s Under-19 team, where there were also Neymar and Alex Teixeira,” the ex-Inter boss told Tuttosport.

“When we bought him from Gremio, you could see his talent, but he was still a youth player.

“Since then, he’s become one of the world’s best wingers. Apart from Neymar, the strongest wingers are Bale, Douglas Costa, Willian and Robben.

“Compared to the latter, he’s quicker and stronger, though he’s less complete at the moment.

“He and Willian are the quickest players I’ve coached in my career. Douglas Costa is someone who reaches very high speeds quickly. He’s good at breaking with pace.

“He has an exceptional shot and exploits it well: he’s someone who changes direction suddenly and then goes for the kill.

“He ‘hears’ where the space is and knows where to position himself for a shot. In Germany, he’s taken another leap in quality.

“When I was coaching him, he really wanted a transfer to a top club. I remember how it was when he left.

“He thanked me and later gave me his Bayern shirt. He’s a great player and a good lad, but he needs an environment that stimulates him. If you ask me, I’d tell him to go to Juve.

“That’s because Serie A remains one of the most complicated Leagues tactically. In Bundesliga, all the teams play the same way, while in Italy there’s great variety.

“That variety forces players to improve and develop. I think Douglas Costa at Juventus would take a definitive leap in quality, but don’t let me manage the market…

“He can play anywhere, even as a central ‘trequartista’. He’s a tactical player, suitable for Italy.

“I remember the extraordinary goals he scored in the Champions League against Roma and Real Madrid.

“My staff and I weren’t that shocked because we were used to seeing him do extraordinary things in training.”

Allegri wants Douglas Costa at Juventus

http://www.juvefc.com/allegri-wants-douglas-costa-juventus/

Jun 8, 2017

Juventus are working to sign an established winger and Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa is top of the list.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Max Allegri reiterated the need to sign a strong winger for the coming season during discussions yesterday and Douglas Costa remains the most popular name for the Bianconeri.

Cor Sport suggest that if the German champions are able to sign Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, they will be all the more likely to allow Costa to leave, and given the good relations between Juve and Bayern, Juventus would put them in the lead, however Barcelona are alsofo reportedly preparing their own offer.

Allegri is planning to continue with the 4-2-3-1 formation that took Juve all the way to the Champions League final and the need for a winger is a priority this summer, with PSG’s Angel Di Maria a possible alternative, however the French side are keen to keep the Argentine.  Two outside options are Lazio’s Keita and Fiorentina’s Bernardeschi.

Gazzetta Dello Sport lead with a similar report that confirms that the 4-2-3-1 is the vision for next season and Costa is the leading target for Juve.

Juventus to meet Bayern for Douglas Costa

http://www.juvefc.com/juventus-meet-bayern-douglas-costa/

Jun 11, 2017

Juventus are scheduled to meet with Bayern Munich in the coming week to submit a bid for Douglas Costa.

Various news outlets in Italy report that Juve are keen on the winger and are actively pursuing an early transfer in an effort to secure the player ahead of the start of the transfer market.

The Brazilian winger is not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the future and Tuttosport report that Juve directors are heading to Munich to try and reach an agreement for the player.

It’s reported Juve will submit an offer of €30m plus performance-related bonuses and given the good relations between the two sides, a transfer could be finalised soon.

Costa has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 34 competitive games this season and is a favourite of Max Allegri’s who sees him as a perfect attacking option, given his ability to play on either flank or as a second striker.

Latest Rumours on Douglas Costa and Steven N'Zonzi

-news-latest-rumours-on-douglas-costa-and-steven-nzonzi

Juventus will reportedly meet with officials from Bayern Munich to discuss a transfer deal for Brazilian winger Douglas Costa. The player could cost as much as £26 million, per the reports.

Italian source Tuttosport (h/t MailOnline's Will Griffee) noted how Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Costa, but Juve want to add the player's versatility to their squad. Griffee also pointed out how Bundesliga giants Bayern are ready to let Costa go: "Carlo Ancelotti does not see Costa as part of his plans for next season, and as such is likely to sanction a move."

Carlo Ancelotti may not be sold on Costa, but Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri would find his pace and perceptive movement useful. In particular, the 26-year-old former Shakhtar Donetsk star would be a more natural fit on the flanks than powerhouse centre-forward Mario Mandzukic.

Allegri played Croatian target man Mandzukic on the left often this season. Yet while he combined well with striker Gonzalo Higuain and supporting forward Paulo Dybala, Mandzukic can't provide true width.

By contrast, Costa has proved he can work the wings after scoring eight times and providing six assists in all competitions this season, per WhoScored.com.

Costa is set to be a wanted man this summer, with Juve and Spurs not the only clubs interested in the South American. Liverpool are also enamoured with the wide forward, according to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo.

However, the Bianconeri could offer Costa a more realistic chance of winning major trophies next season, thanks to both their dominance of Serie A and improvement in Europe, evidenced by reaching two UEFA Champions League finals in the last three years.

Juve to Push for a Lower Fee for Sevilla Midfielder

Aside from pursuing a deal for Costa, Juventus are also expected to try to negotiate a lower fee for Sevilla midfield enforcer Steven N'Zonzi. Bianconeri director general Beppe Marotta reportedly will fly to Sevilla next week to try to lower the Spanish club's €40 million asking price, according to Italian source Calciomercato.it (h/t Football Italia).

The reports also detailed how keen Juve are on signing the Frenchman this summer: "Multiple Italian sources claim that Max Allegri identified N’Zonzi as the ideal addition to his midfield."

This isn't the first time former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City holding player N'Zonzi has been on the Bianconeri's radar, per the reports: "N’Zonzi was already very close to Juve in January, but signed a new contract that raised the release clause from €30m to €40m.N'Zonzi would be an intriguing addition to an already marquee Juventus midfield. Allegri currently relies on the complementary pairing of Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira in the middle.

This isn't the first time former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City holding player N'Zonzi has been on the Bianconeri's radar, per the reports: "N’Zonzi was already very close to Juve in January, but signed a new contract that raised the release clause from €30m to €40m."

N'Zonzi would be an intriguing addition to an already marquee Juventus midfield. Allegri currently relies on the complementary pairing of Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira in the middle.

Pjanic offers flair and vision, while Khedira is a physical presence with the energy to play box to box. However, the latter has had his injury woes and isn't a naturally defensive-minded midfield anchor.

N'Zonzi would be content to sit deep, freeing up creative maestro Pjanic to get forward more often.

Allegri and Juve appear primed to move quickly in the transfer market and boltser a squad that finished a game short in the Champions League. Both Costa and N'Zonzi would offer niche skills at two key positions to provide greater balance to an already gifted squad.

Douglas Costa agent meets Juve

http://www.football-italia.net/104074/douglas-costa-agent-meets-juve

Jun 13, 2017

Douglas Costa seems closer than ever to Juventus, as the Bayern Munich man’s agent was in Turin for talks with Beppe Marotta today.

Representative Junior Mendonza was spotted at the Juventus HQ with director general Marotta, according to Sky Sport Italia.

There were already reports last night that the Bianconeri were moving forward in their negotiations for the 26-year-old Brazilian winger.

It’s believed Bayern are asking for €50m for the former Shakhtar Donetsk star, but Juve are confident they can lower that fee.

Costa is also asking for around €7m per year in wages.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Inter are also hoping to intercept for Douglas Costa, but Juventus seem to be comfortably ahead in that race.

Juve up to €45m for Douglas Costa

http://www.football-italia.net/104095/juve-€45m-douglas-costa

Jun 13, 2017

Juventus are reportedly prepared to pay €45m to push Bayern Munich into selling Douglas Costa after the player agreed a €6m salary.

Today the Brazilian’s agent was in Turin for a meeting with director Beppe Marotta and Sky Sport Italia claim Costa is eager to make the move.

The issue remains Bayern Munich, whose asking price for the versatile winger is €50m.

Juve’s first offer will be €40m with the potential to go up to a maximum of €45m.

However, as the two clubs have a very strong rapport and made numerous deals over the last few years, they hope to negotiate towards the middle ground.

Although Inter have also been linked with Douglas Costa, it seems he has his heart set on Juventus.

Costa says ‘yes’ to Juve?

http://www.football-italia.net/104106/costa-says-yes-juve

Jun 14, 2017

Douglas Costa has reportedly given the green light to Juventus, who must now agree a fee with Bayern Munich.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve’s meeting with Costa’s agent on Tuesday resulted in the club learning that the winger “wants” them.

The newspaper adds the Brazilian has already rejected an offer from Inter, leaving a fee needing to be negotiated between the Bianconeri and German champions.

Costa joined Bayern for €35m two summers ago and has a contract until 2020, earning €4m a season.

He is valued at €50m, but Juve are only willing to come in at €35m, although their proposal of a €5m salary may force the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk ace into knocking harder on Die Roten’s door over being let go for less.

'Pure talent' Douglas Costa is right

player for Juventus - Mircea Lucescu

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/3143534/pure-talent-douglas-

costa-is-right-player-for-juventus-mircea-lucescu

Jun 14, 2017

Douglas Costa is ready to play in Italy amid reported interest from Juventus, his former coach Mircea Lucescu has told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bayern Munich winger Costa played for Lucescu at Shakhtar Donetsk, and the coach described him as "one of the purest talents I have ever coached."

The player's agent is reported to have met Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta, and Lucescu said both the club and the 26-year-old could benefit from a move.

"He's proven that he is suited to a big club and he's gained a lot of experience, also in the Champions League and in the national team," Lucescu said.

"This is fundamental because experience improves you, but you only gain it over time.

"The Italian league is very stimulating, both tactically and emotionally, and he -- like many Brazilians -- is one who tends to be at his best when he feels he has people around him who believe in him and is in a position where his qualities can come to the fore."

Lucescu said Costa "combines an impressive basic pace with great dribbling skills and a deadly shot with both feet."

He said the player knew how to change the pace of a game and added: "I could see straight away that he had good touches, but he was only expressing this talent for himself.

"Over the years at Shakhtar, we taught him to make himself at the service of the group. It would be a great choice [for Juve]. If the deal goes through, I would be delighted for him.

"I am always happy to see a player I signed improve and join a big club."

Allegri: 'Yes Costa, no De Sciglio'

http://www.football-italia.net/104134/allegri-yes-costa-no-de-sciglio

Jun 14, 2017

Max Allegri denied Juventus are interested in Mattia De Sciglio, but “Douglas Costa is an objective” and Federico Bernardeschi has potential.

The Bianconeri boss spoke to Sky Sport Italia and you can read the rest of his interview here and here.

“I think this year the challenge will be to improve the quality of the football and consequently have more control of the game, of big teams and important matches,” said Allegri.

Douglas Costa’s agent met with Juve director Beppe Marotta last night, though Bayern Munich are believed to want €50m.

“He is one of our objectives and he is very talented.”

Allegri was also asked about Bernardeschi.

“He is a young player of great potential for the Nazionale. De Sciglio? No, we are sorted in defence.”

Is it true that Allegri personally requested Steven N’Zonzi from Sevilla?

“I don’t make requests. I speak to the club and there are players who might be on the market who we seek out if they can improve the squad. But these are absolutely not requests, because not all players can come to Juventus.

“Patrik Schick isn’t a Juventus player yet, so we shouldn’t talk about him, but he is a player who doesn’t do normal things.”

Finally, Allegri was asked if he had a message for new Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti and Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco.

“I wish them both the best of luck. I think they’ve got a great chance of doing well, although naturally I hope they finish behind Juventus.”

Juventus get Costa for €40m?

http://www.football-italia.net/104173/juventus-get-costa-€40m

Jun 15, 2017

Reports suggest Juventus could close a deal for Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa for €40m plus bonuses.

The Bianconeri are looking to bring in at least one winger this summer, and Coach Max Allegri confirmed yesterday that the Brazilian is one of the targets.

It’s thought the Italian champions have the basis of a deal with the player, but his club are asking for €50m.

There is a good relationship between Juve and Bayern though, after the deals for Arturo Vidal, Kingsley Coman and Medhi Benatia.

To that end, Tuttosport is reporting that a deal could be found between the two clubs for €40m plus bonuses, which would likely be linked to winning the Scudetto and performance in the Champions League.

Bayern delay Costa decision

http://www.football-italia.net/104255/bayern-delay-costa-decision

Jun 16, 2017

Reports suggest Bayern Munich still haven’t decided whether to sell Douglas Costa, so Juventus must wait until next week.

The Bianconeri already have a deal with the winger, and have been negotiating a €40m transfer with his club.

However, there has so far been no movement on that front and Sky reports that the Bavarians are still not certain to sell the Brazilian.

Therefore Juve must wait until next week to open serious negotiations, with the deal likely to be tied to Alexis Sanchez’s potential move to Bayern.

Inter push Juve for Douglas Costa

http://www.football-italia.net/104584/inter-push-juve-douglas-costa

Jun 22, 2017

Juventus don’t want to pay Bayern Munich’s €50m asking price for Douglas Costa, but Inter have reportedly made their own offer.

The Bianconeri have made no secret of their interest in the Brazilian winger, but the €40m on the table is not enough to convince Bayern Munich.

According to Mediaset Premium, Inter have set up a meeting with the German giants, having already tracked Douglas Costa earlier this summer.

They see him as the ideal replacement if Ivan Perisic moves to Manchester United.

So far, Douglas Costa seems to have given the all-clear to Juve, but the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement.

Inter aim to swing his preference towards San Siro with wages worth €8m per year compared to his current (and Juve's offer) of €6.5m.

Bayern confirm Douglas Costa price

http://www.football-italia.net/105192/bayern-confirm-douglas-costa-price

Jul 3, 2017

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness told Juventus “if someone pays the sum we’re asking for, Douglas Costa will change club.”

It has long been reported that the price-tag on the Brazilian is €50m.

However, Juventus are not willing to meet that, offering so far €40m at most with bonuses.

“If someone pays the sum (director Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge is asking for, then Douglas Costa will change club,” Hoeness told German newspaper Bild.

It seems as if the Bianconeri are instead turning their attention towards Fiorentina forward Federico Bernardeschi.

He also commands a similar €50m fee, but is younger, more versatile and won’t take up a non-EU spot in the squad.

Douglas Costa could stay at Bayern

Munich - Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/3153831/douglas-costa-

could-stay-at-bayern-munich-karl-heinz-rummenigge

Jul 6, 2017

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Merkur that Douglas Costa could still have a future at Bayern Munich amid speculation that a transfer to Juventus has stalled.

Costa, 26, is contracted to Bayern until 2020 but the winger reportedly said earlier in the year he could "find another team" in the summer. The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Juve after falling down the Bayern pecking order last season behind Franck Ribery, Kingsley Coman and Arjen Robben.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness said on Monday that Costa could leave the club if a buying club met the required asking price -- believed to be in the region of €40 million -- but Sky Italia reported that Juve are no longer trying to sign him, prompting Bayern's CEO Rummenigge to say: "We are not sure whether it would not perhaps be better for Costa to stay."

Previously, Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Costa, while Jiangsu Suning's Alex Teixeira has said he has spoken to his former Shakhtar Donetsk teammate about the Chinese Super League.

After joining from Shakhtar for €30million in the summer of 2015, Costa enjoyed a solid first season in Germany, scoring four and assisting in 14 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances under former boss Pep Guardiola. He also scored the decisive penalty in the DFB Pokal final shootout against Borussia Dortmund as Bayern secured the double in Guardiola's final game in charge.

However, Costa struggled to back up his strong debut campaign, starting only 14 of Bayern's 31 Bundesliga last season. He also endured knee problems, becoming a bit-part player in his second season at the club, while Bayern have also added ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry to the squad last month.

But Rummenigge hasn't written Costa off, hoping he can regain the form from his impressive debut campaign in Germany.

He said: "I always found him an interesting player. All he has to do is reach the same level again that he was playing at during his first season with us."

Costa has won 21 caps for his country and played in the Selecao's friendlies this summer in Australia. Rummenigge added he was "relaxed" when asked whether it would be a problem if Costa did remain at the club after all, expressing his confidence that the winger wouldn't become a burden with his international future on the line.

"Bayern's big advantage is there's a World Cup at the end of the season and every player wants to qualify for it," Rummenigge said. "In that sort of situation no player becomes sloppy or creates a big fuss."

Douglas Costa is close to joining Juventus and could be in Turin ahead of Juve’s US tour, according to reports from both Sky, La Stampa and Tuttosport.

The Brazilian winger has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the last month with German and Italian media reporting that the deal was completed, only to backtrack later and suggest Costa was on ‘standby’.

The latest reports from the usually reliable Sky Sport Italia suggest that despite Bayern wanting €50m, they will accept Juve’s latest offer of €40m plus assorted bonuses which tie in with Costa’s performances in Turin.

Tuttosport, who have been hit and miss with their transfer news, report that the deal is done and an agreement is in place with the club and player. The official announcement could come this week ahead of Juve’s US tour which Costa is expected to a part of.

Another Turin based daily, La Stampa, report that the move for Costa doesn’t exclude the arrival of Federico Bernardeschi, who was always part of Marotta’s plans for the summer.

Sky Sport Deutschland also now claim that Douglas Costa’s move from Bayern Munich to Juventus is imminent, though there are disagreements over the price.

The reports are growing rapidly since last night that the Brazilian will be in Turin this season.

After Sky Sport Italia, Mediaset Premium, Sportitalia and the Corriere dello Sport, now Sky Sport Deutschland also assures the deal is practically done.

Juve aim to spread the cost of the operation by taking Douglas Costa on loan for two years at €10m with obligation to buy in 2019.

German sources suggest it’ll be €35m plus bonuses, Sky Sport Italia have it at €40m plus incentives.

Bayern Munich had put a €50m price-tag on the winger, who turns 27 in September.

Douglas Costa to Juventus this week

The particulars of Douglas Costa’s move to Juventus are reportedly finalised meaning he should arrive in Turin this week, ahead of Juve’s summer tour of the USA.

It’s the transfer story that’s dragged on the longest this summer, however by all accounts, Juve have their man with only the official announcement and medical pending.

Sky Sport Germany reported yesterday that significant progress had been made in the negotiations for the Brazilian and that Juve and Bayern had finally agreed terms.

Sky Sport Italia, Goal Italia and Gazzetta Dello Sport followed suit, suggesting that the Bianconeri had agreed a deal similar to the one that saw Kinglsey Coman join Die Roten two summer ago. Juventus will initially pay €10m to loan Costa followed by a further €30m to buy him outright. It’s yet to be confirmed if it will be an ‘option to buy‘ or an obligation.

La Stampa report along similar lines that the deal is all but complete with just a few final details to be finalised, writing a somewhat in-depth explanation for 26-year-old’s transfer which focuses on Max Allegri identifying him as a main target for the summer. The Turin based daily talk about Costa’s dribbling skills and how he’s being signed primarily to improve the attack, rather than relying on him for any defensive output.

The paper also suggests that the arrival of Costa will not have any impact on Juve’s pursuit of Federico Bernardeschi, another player wanted by Allegri to improve the wings and the overall attacking play. The aim is to sign both players within the coming week so as to have them in the squad for the summer tour of the USA and Juve’s annual ritiro which runs from July to August.

The arrival of both players could have an impact on Juan Cuadrado’s future as many papers hint at a possible exit for the Colombian who has been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain.

Bayern CEO confirms Douglas Costa negotiations underway

Things are (likely) happening! And it’s not just media gossip anymore!

costa-juventus-bayern-munchen-2017-serie-a-summer-transfer-rumors

Things are finally happening in Juventus-land, frequently referred to as Turin. Finally we can put to rest the thought that maybe these journalists have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to the Douglas Costa transfer saga, as we now have some concrete facts to back it up.

Today, Bayern unveiled Corentin Tolisso as their newest midfielder. While that may sound like a rude reminder of a missed target to Juventus fans, there was some good that came out of it. Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed what many are reporting and speculating; Douglas Costa could be a Juventino very soon.

In an article from German news outlet, Sport Bild, the former Bayern striker and current CEO had this to say when asked about Douglas Costa’s future:

„Der aktuelle Stand ist, dass wir in konkreten und durchaus positiven Gesprächen mit Juventus sind. Aber ich kann heute noch nicht Vollzug vermelden. Der Spieler hat kundgetan, dass er gerne wechseln möchte.“

Or, in English (Thanks, Google Translate).

"The current state is that we are in concrete and quite positive talks with Juventus. But today I can not report enforcement. The player has known that he would like to change."

So that’s clearly a positive indicator that a move could be coming soon. If the numbers being thrown around in the Italian media these days (~€ 40 million total, with payments spread out with a LWOTB) are correct, it would be a relatively low price to pay for a 26 year-old player who is only a year removed from being considered one of Europe’s top wingers.

With Allegri wanting his new arrivals with him by the time they head over to the foreign land of the United States of America, we could see a deal closed soon. For a summer that started off pretty uneventfully, it seems that the three transfers of Costa, Bernardeschi, and Szczęsny could all be completed very soon. Hey, that would be very cool.
