Juventus target Danilo or Cancelo

http://www.football-italia.net/104459/juventus-target-danilo-or-cancelo

Jun 20, 2017

Juventus are looking to Spain for Dani Alves replacements, with reports linking them to Valencia’s Joao Cancelo and Danilo of Real Madrid.

Dani Alves is ready to move on after just one season in Turin and a move to reunite with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City is imminent.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a candidate to replace him could be at Real Madrid, specifically Brazil international Danilo.

He turns 26 next month and was signed from Porto in 2015 for €31.5m.

This season Danilo contributed one goal and three assists in 25 competitive games, but wants more playing time.

Another cheaper alternative would be Cancelo, who had already been on the Juventus radar last summer.

Super Deporte suggest the 23-year-old would be an ideal candidate to step in for Dani Alves, especially as he can play in more advanced roles on the right wing too.

Valencia paid €15m to buy the Portuguese player from Benfica in 2015.

Cancelo has a surprising three goals in four senior caps and is currently representing Portugal at the European Under-21 Championship.

Juventus choose Cancelo

http://www.football-italia.net/105426/juventus-choose-cancelo

Jul 8, 2017

Juventus are turning their focus towards Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, dropping interest in Serge Aurier and Danilo.

The Bianconeri need a replacement for Dani Alves, who terminated his contract by mutual consent after just one season and is due to sign for Manchester City.

Danilo of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain talent Aurier had been the initial objectives, but the situation has since shifted.

According to various sources, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cancelo is now the hot favourite for a Turin switch.

The 23-year-old would still cost €25m, but Juve already have a good rapport with Valencia after selling goalkeeper Norberto Neto yesterday.

Cancelo is a Portugal international with three goals in just four senior caps and can play in a variety of roles down the right flank.

Valencia only bought him from Benfica two years ago for €15m.

Juve €17m and Lemina for Cancelo

http://www.football-italia.net/106791/juve-€17m-and-lemina-cancelo

Jul 27, 2017

Juventus have offered €17m plus Mario Lemina in exchange for Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, it’s reported.

According to Spanish sources and the Corriere dello Sport, the Bianconeri hope to use Valencia’s interest in midfielder Lemina as part of the deal.

They’re ready to include Lemina along with a €17m cash sum.

Cancelo has a €35m asking price, but the two clubs have done a lot of business together recently with Simone Zaza and Norberto Neto heading to Spain.

The 23-year-old plays in a variety of roles down the right, which makes him valuable for eclectic Coach Max Allegri.

He is a senior Portugal international with three goals in four caps.

Stephan Lichtsteiner Out, Joao Cancelo In

http://www.juvefc.com/stephan-lichtsteiner-joao-cancelo/

Jul 28, 2017

Growing reports in the Italian and Spanish media suggest that Stephan Lichtsteiner has agreed a deal with Ligue 1 side Nice.

The Swiss international was reduced to a bit-part role for much of last season and it’s reported that he could leave this summer.

Corriere dello Sport report Lichtsteiner is not part of Max Allegri’s plans as Mattia De Sciglio could become first-choice right-back for the 2017/18 season.

Lichtsteiner is expcted to head to Nice on a two-year deal with option for a third year, although the deal may not be finalised until Juve secure a replacement.

Spanish press, Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta report that the Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo is seen as Juve’s main target for right-back and a deal could be concluded soon, given the good relations between both sides.

The initial reports say Juve could off  Lemina along with €17m to offset Valencia’s €35m asking price for the 23-year-old who’s able to play in multiple roles down the right flank.

Cancelo given €25m price-tag

http://www.football-italia.net/106907/cancelo-given-€25m-price-tag

Jul 30, 2017

Valencia are not prepared to accept less than €25m for wing-back Joao Cancelo, a transfer target for Juventus and Inter.

The Portugal international is only 23 years old and can play in any role down the right wing, effectively mirroring Juve’s Alex Sandro on the left.

According to SuperDeporte, Valencia have placed a price-tag of at least €25m on Cancelo and will not budge from it.

It’s reported the player is ready for a change of scenery and his agent Jorge Mendes is in negotiations with several Italian clubs this month.

Juve are believed to be offering €17m plus Mario Lemina, while Inter hope to involve Valencia’s negotiations for Jeison Murillo and interest in Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Juve v Inter for Valencia duo

http://www.football-italia.net/107274/juve-v-inter-valencia-duo

Aug 6, 2017

Juventus are zeroing in on Valencia defenders Joao Cancelo and Ezequiel Garay, with Tomas Rincon in exchange, but face competition from Inter.

According to Tuttosport, the Bianconeri believe the necessary reinforcements for the defence are both at the Mestalla.

Valencia are asking for €25m for full-back Cancelo and €20m for central defender Garay.

Juve had originally hoped to include Mario Lemina as part of the deal, but he is now on the verge of a switch to Southampton for €20m.

Instead, midfielder Rincon will be offered as makeweight and they value the former Genoa man at €13m.

However, Inter are also targeting the Valencia pair and have a player the Spaniards very much want – Geoffrey Kondogbia.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that while Jeison Murillo is just days away from completing his €13m move to Valencia, the club offered Cancelo and Garay as part of a potential exchange for midfielder Kondogbia.

The Nerazzurri value Kondogbia at €25-30m and he is also a target for Liverpool.

Spurs enter Cancelo race

http://www.football-italia.net/107320/report-spurs-enter-cancelo-race

Aug 7, 2017

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign Juventus target Joao Cancelo.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have emerged as “serious rivals” for Cancelo, who had been “a priority” for the Bianconeri.

Furthermore, Spurs sent scouts to watch the Valencia right-back in action for Portugal two months ago.

Tottenham lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City earlier in the summer and have only one, first-team right-back left on their books in Kieran Trippier.

However, Trippier pulled up with an injury in Saturday’s friendly against the Old Lady, meaning the Londoners may begin their Premier League campaign next weekend with 20-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters, who has yet to play a competitive match for the club.

Cancelo snubs Wolves for Juve

https://www.football-italia.net/122624/cancelo-snubs-wolves-juve

Jun 8, 2018

Joao Cancelo, fresh from a loan spell at Inter, wants tJuventus rather than accept Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Superdeporte claiming it's a done deal for €40m.

The right-back is still owned by Valencia, but impressed during his season-long loan at San Siro.

According to Mediaset Premium, Cancelo received a massive offer from newly-promoted Premier League outfit Wolves, but has decided to turn it down.

He is seemingly unimpressed with this option, despite his agent Jorge Mendes having a very strong connection with the club.

Instead, the Portugal international is pushing towards a Serie A stay with Juventus, who want to take him on loan with obligation to buy for €40m so they can spread out the cost.

It’s a similar deal to the one they struck with Bayern Munich for Douglas Costa.

In fact, Spanish site Superdeportes claim Cancelo to Juventus is "practically certain."

The Bianconeri had been targeting Matteo Darmian, but Manchester United continued to demand €20m compared to the €12m plus bonuses offer and negotiations seem to have stalled.

Sabatini on Cancelo

https://www.football-italia.net/122751/real-madrid-€170m-milinkovic-savic

Jun 10, 2018

Ex-Inter director Walter Sabatini would be “annoyed” if Juventus got Joao Cancelo.

Sabatini negotiated to get Cancelo on loan from Valencia last summer with a €40m option to buy, but Inter refused to pay it and he now seems to be on his way to Juventus for a similar fee.

When asked about this, Sabatini’s response was – adjusted for a family site – this: “If that happens, I’ll get really annoyed.” :)

Juventus offer Pjaca for Cancelo

https://www.football-italia.net/122789/juventus-offer-pjaca-cancelo

Jun 11, 2018

Juventus are willing to offer Marko Pjaca as part of any deal for Valencia’s Joao Cancelo, according to reports.

The Bianconeri are looking for a full-back, and have been heavily linked with the Portuguese, who spent this season on loan at Inter.

The Beneamata couldn’t take up their €35m option to buy due to Financial Fair Play, opening the door for the Old Lady.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juve value Cancelo around €20m, but would be willing to pay up to €35m to get him.

Even that isn’t enough for the Spanish club, who are looking to bring in €40m and rejected the offer of a loan with obligation to buy.

The right-back is keen to move to Turin though, telling Jorge Mendes, his agent, he prefers Juve to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

To try and bridge the gap, the Bianconeri are willing to offer Pjaca in exchange and Valencia are believed to be interested.

However, they also have FFP obligations and would prefer to do a purely cash deal.

Juventus meet for Cancelo

https://www.football-italia.net/122900/juventus-meet-cancelo

Jun 13, 2018

Representatives from Valencia are reportedly in Italy to meet Juventus and discuss Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo spent this season on loan at Inter, but the Nerazzurri can’t pay his buyout clause due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

The Bianconeri are therefore looking to do a deal, with general manager Giuseppe Marotta confirming yesterday that they consider him a “top player”.

The director insisted that there were no negotiations underway, but today Sky Italia is reporting that Valencia are in Italy and will meet with Juve.

Cancelo slams Tuttosport

cancelo.jpg

https://www.football-italia.net/122934/cancelo-slams-tuttosport

Jun 14, 2018

Joao Cancelo has taken to Instagram to deny giving certain quotes to Tuttosport – before they’ve even been published.

The front pages of Thursday’s papers have been released and include an exclusive interview with Valencia full-back Cancelo.

Said to be in negotiations with Juventus after Inter didn’t make his loan spell permanent, the headline is: ‘Cancelo calls Juve.’

“I expected more consideration from Inter. I want to play in the Champions League and I am a fan of Douglas Costa.”

Cancelo was, it’s safe to say, not impressed with the front page and made his feelings evident on Instagram stories.

“Wtf? When people don’t know how to do their jobs.’

Juventus close to Cancelo

https://www.football-italia.net/123251/juventus-close-cancelo

Jun 20, 2018

Juventus are reportedly on the verge of a deal for Joao Cancelo, with Valencia accepting a loan with obligation to buy.

The full-back spent this season on loan with Inter, but with their Financial Fair Play deadline looming the Nerazzurri couldn’t afford the €35m option.

That alerted the Bianconeri to his situation, and the player made it clear he preferred to move to Turin rather than Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now Sportmediaset is reporting that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs, on the basis of a loan with obligation to buy.

The total cost of the transfer will be around €38m, which will be split between the cost of the loan and the transfer fee next summer.

The Old Lady must now define the details of Cancelo’s contract, but that is not expected to present any major problems.

Juve strike €38m Cancelo deal

https://www.football-italia.net/123267/juve-strike-€38m-cancelo-deal

Jun 20, 2018

Juventus are down to the details with Valencia, as they agreed to sign right-back Joao Cancelo for €38m after another meeting today.

According to multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, a deal is essentially done.

Valencia agreed a slight discount on their €40m asking price and it’s expected to be a definitive sale rather than a loan with obligation to buy.

The 24-year-old impressed this season on loan at Inter, but the club refused to pay the €40m option to make the move permanent.

Juve dived in and struck a deal for the Portugal international, despite interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Cancelo can play in any role down the right flank in defence, midfield or attack.

Cancelo to Juventus next week

https://www.football-italia.net/123345/cancelo-juventus-next-week

Jun 21, 2018

Juventus are due to complete their transfer for Valencia full-back Joao Cancelo next week at a cost of €38-40m.

According to numerous sources, the deal is done and will not be a loan with option or obligation to buy, but rather a permanent signing.

The Portugal international is fresh from a loan spell at Inter, but the Nerazzurri refused to meet the €40m option to buy at the end of the season.

Valencia need to finalise the move before June 30 and do it as a transfer rather than a loan in order to resolve their Financial Fair Play issues.

Cancelo to Juventus tomorrow

https://www.football-italia.net/123536/cancelo-juventus-tomorrow

Jun 25, 2018

Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo is expected to fly in to Turin tomorrow, before taking his Juventus medical on Wednesday.

It emerged over the weekend that the two clubs had found a deal for the Portuguese international, who spent last season on loan at Inter.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that he’ll arrive in Turin tomorrow, before taking his medical the following day.

Cancelo is set to sign a five-year contract, in a deal which will be worth around €40m.

All that remains to be defined is the method of payment, as Juve want to split the cost over several years.

Official: Cancelo joins Juventus

https://www.football-italia.net/123647/official-cancelo-joins-juventus

Jun 27, 2018

Portugal international Joao Cancelo is officially a Juventus player after the completion of a €40.4m transfer from Valencia.

The statement from Juventus confirms payment will be spread out over three years.

“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Valencia Club de Futbol SAD for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo has been finalized for a consideration of € 40.4 million payable in three financial years.

“This acquisition will generate economic and financial effects starting from 2018/2019 sportive season.

“Juventus and the player have signed a 5-year contract of employment until 30 June 2023.”

The full-back had his medical this morning at the J-Medical centre in Turin and put pen to paper on the five-year contract.

“Valencia CF have signed an agreement with Juventus FC for the transfer of full-back Joao Cancelo to the Italian club,” read a statement from the Spanish side.

“VCF wish the Portugal international the best for this new step in his career.”

It is a return to Serie A, as Cancelo spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Inter, but the club did not take up its €40m option to buy.

Cancelo: 'Juventus a dream'

Jun 27, 2018

Joao Cancelo said it is “a dream to be at Juventus, representing one of the biggest European clubs” after his €40.4m move from Valencia.

The Portugal international spent last season on loan at Inter, but they did not activate the €40m option to buy.

“It is a dream to be at this great club,” Cancelo told the official club website in a video interview.

“Representing one of the biggest European clubs makes me very happy.

“Juventus have so many strong players, so I don’t want to make it an individual issue. You have to be a strong player to be in a team like this.

“I hope they can help me to achieve success both on an individual and collective level.”

Cancelo spoke to Coach Max Allegri before completing the transfer to Turin.

“My preferred position is at right-back. Allegri told me he thought I would soon meet up with the rest of the squad, he wants me to give the club a hand to continue the success they had in recent years.

“He told me: ‘You are someone who can help us continue having success.’

“Forza Juve.”

Cancelo: ‘Ronaldo the best in the world’

https://www.football-italia.net/124372/cancelo-‘ronaldo-best-world’

Jul 12, 2018

New Juventus signing Joao Cancelo calls Cristiano Ronaldo “the best in the world”, and thanks Inter after his loan spell last season.

The right-back has joined the Bianconeri in a €40m deal from Valencia, and his Portuguese compatriot CR7 has also signed for next season.

“It’s a pleasure for me and everyone to play with someone like Ronaldo, the best in the world,” Cancelo said at his presentation Press conference.

“He’ll definitely raise the quality of the team and I hope we can keep winning together.

“It’s a pleasure to have him here, he’s used to winning and has a winning mentality. Juventus have dominated the Italian league in recent years and I hope he can help us continue that success.

“The Champions League? Obviously Cristiano will bring us quality. There’s no obligation to win the Champions League, the obligation is to compete for it.

“The Champions League is a competition between the best teams in Europe and Juventus is one of those. We’ll have everything to compete for that trophy.

“It’s an objective because he [Ronaldo] increases our quality, but I don’t think it’s an obligation because there will be other teams competing with us.

“It’s definitely an important objective for us though.”

Cancelo spent last season on loan at Inter, but the Nerazzurri couldn’t afford his buyout clause before the deadline due to Financial Fair Play.

“Inter was a very important club for me. They helped me to mature, they gave me my first experience in the Italian league and I thank them for that.

“The Italian league helped me to improve my weaknesses, like the defensive aspect, and I'm improving as a player. I want to keep doing that.

“I was in a situation [at Inter] which depended on the transfer market. Inter didn’t exercise their option for me, Juve wanted me and always proved they wanted me, and I wanted to come to this team that is one of the best in the world.

“‘I'm not here to talk about the differences. Juve dominated the Italian league, Inter is a great club. Now I’m a Juventus player.”

The right-back was then asked about who had impressed him, as well as his integration into the team.

“There are many: [Paulo] Dybala, [Gonzalo] Higuain, Douglas Costa. The defenders are also very good, for example Chiellini is great in his role.

“Alex Sandro has welcomed me very well, I’ve been spending a lot of time with him in recent days, then when [fellow Portuguese speakers] Douglas Costa and Ronaldo arrive it’ll be even easier to adapt.”

United rejected for Cancelo?

https://www.football-italia.net/130135/united-rejected-cancelo

Nov 2, 2018

Manchester United reportedly enquired about Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo, but were told he’s not for sale.

The Portuguese joined the Bianconeri from Valencia in a €40m deal this summer, after Inter didn’t take up the option to buy in their loan deal.

According to this morning’s Tuttosport, Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of his compatriot, and pushed the Red Devils board to sign him.

There were initial discussions in which United asked for information, but Juve made it clear that Cancelo is not for sale in January or next summer.

Juventus have confirmed that Joao Cancelo’s knee surgery was “fully successful”, so he should return early next year.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed today that the Portuguese had torn his meniscus, predicting he would return after the winter break in late January.

“Today, Joao Cancelo has undergone a medial selective meniscectomy on his right knee,” a statement on the Bianconeri’s official website announced.

“The operation, performed by Professor Roberto Rossi, a consultant for Juventus and J-Medical, in the presence of Juventus health manager Dr. Claudio Rigo at the Clinica Sedes Sapientiae was fully successful.

“From tomorrow Cancelo will start rehabilitative care.”

Cancelo 'much better' at Juve

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor cancelo e ronaldo scudetto juventus

https://www.football-italia.net/135971/cancelo-much-better-juve

Mar 19, 2019

Joao Cancelo claims he has become a ‘much better’ player at Juventus thanks to training with two of the ‘world’s best’ in Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.

Cancelo was called up for Portugal’s first two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Ukraine and Serbia, although his inclusion was overshadowed by the return of Juve teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone,” the right-back said at a Press conference.

“He’s made history for the national team and every club he’s played at. It’s obvious that he adds quality wherever he is.

“The win against with Atletico Madrid? Ronaldo was really important for us going through, but the whole team did well, even if having him in the team makes it easier.

“Anyone who watched the game knows we won deservedly.”

The former Valencia defender has played in Serie A since 2017, spending last season at Inter before making a permanent move to Juve…

“I learn something every year,” explained the 24-year-old.

“Now I’m training with two best defenders in the world, Bonucci and Chiellini. In Italy the bar is very high and today I feel much better than I did a year or two ago.”

Cancelo: 'Allegri is one of the best Coaches in the world'

https://www.football-italia.net/137335/cancelo-thanks-inter-path-juventus

Apr 25, 2019

Joao Cancelo has thanked Inter – for allowing him the chance to join “Juventus, the best club in Italy, with Max Allegri one of the best Coaches in the world.”

The two sides meet on Saturday evening in the Derby d’Italia and Cancelo isn’t holding back against the side he joined on loan from Valencia last season.

“When I arrived in Italy, it was a radical change for me, as I came from the Spanish League where technique is the most important thing, while here tactics are a fundamental aspect,” Cancelo told DAZN.

“Luciano Spalletti helped me a great deal, especially to understand certain defensive concepts, and I am grateful to him for that. The six months on loan at Inter were important.

“That experience allowed me to join Juventus, the best club in Italy, with Allegri one of the best Coaches in the world. He’s a great person and I still have much to learn from him.”

There were reports that Cancelo had ‘liked’ a post on social media containing the #AllegriOut hashtag, but the Portugal international denied this.

“I heard about it, but this has nothing to do with me. It’d be crazy for me to do something like that. Allegri is one of the best Coaches in the world, he won so much at Juventus and also at Milan. It’s fake news from people trying to cause problems between me and the Coach.

“I really appreciate Allegri, as he is a great person and I owe a lot of my current form to him. I want to continue at Juventus and keep writing my story here. I’ve improved so much in a year, as you inevitably do when training with the best.

“If you work with players like Douglas Costa, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini, you also improve in the aspects where you are most lacking.

“The teammate who impressed me the most in my first days at Juve was Miralem Pjanic, as even before the ball has reached him, he already knows what to do.”

Naturally, Cancelo already knew Cristiano Ronaldo very well even before the switch to Juventus.

“Cristiano is hard work, talent and dedication, all of which makes him one of the greatest players of all time. It’s no coincidence that he won five editions of the Ballon d’Or. He is a great athlete and professional, so we younger players should all learn from him.”
