Juventus confirm sponsor talks, as the figures behind new Jeep agreement revealed

 

 

Juventus admitted they’re in talks with a new main shirt sponsor, all but confirming earlier rumours that revealed a new agreement between the club and Jeep.

 

The Bianconeri have been without a main sponsor since the start of the season, when their 12-year collaboration with the American automobile brand came to an end. Instead, the team has been displaying the “Save the Children” banner since the start of the season as a goodwill initiative to make up for the lack of a commercial partner.

 

Nevertheless, circulating reports in the Italian media revealed that the Jeep logo is about to make a comeback on the club’s shirt, with Exor CEO John Elkann personally endorsing the accord between the two companies he owns (Juventus and Stellantis). ............

 

The new agreement with Jeep will be finalised ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup which will kick off in mid-June. The Bianconeri are also expected to display another sponsor on their shirts in the shape of “Visit Detroit”, thus yielding extra income.

 

As for Jeep, the source expects the agreement to be worth around 25 million euros per season. This number pale in comparison to the previous figures which had reached 45 million euros by the end of their initial accord. ............

Tether increase Juventus stake to become second-highest investors

 

 

Cryptocurrency firm Tether have confirmed that they have purchased more shares in Juventus, and that they are now the second-largest investors in the Serie A giants.

 

Back in February, Tether purchased a minority stake in Juventus, understood to be around 8.2% of the club’s shares, which brought just over 5% of voting rights. After their most recent acquisition, Tether now own 10.12% of the club’s shares, and have around 6.18% of the voting rights. ............

 

EXOR, the holding company attributed to the Agnelli family, still owns a clear majority of the shares in Juventus with 65.4%.

 

Tether now owns 10.1% of the Bianconeri shares, which means they have overtaken investment management company Lindell Train, who now own 8.7% of the club’s shares. The remaining 15.4% is in the form of floating shares.

Italian paper claims Inzaghi and Calhanoglu bans are not fair on Juventus

 

 

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport suggests that Juventus have a right to be annoyed by the one-match bans handed to Inter’s Simone Inzaghi and Hakan Calhanoglu this week, as former Juventus owner Andrea Agnelli took a significantly harsher punishment for a similar incident back in 2017. ............

 

An investigation was launched in 2024 after the murder of Andrea Bellocco by a fellow supporter and the subsequent arrests of several ultras with suspected links to mafia families.

 

It was later revealed that a number of high-profile coaches and players, including Inzaghi, Calhanoglu, Milan’s Davide Calabria and Nerazzurri vice-President Javier Zanetti had either met or had discussions with ultras and it has since been confirmed that some of those conversations broke FIGC rules.

 

Turin-based outlet Tuttosport have published an article claiming that ‘justice is not equal’, owing to the fact that Inzaghi and Calhanoglu were given fines and one-match bans, while former Juventus owner Agnelli took a 12-month suspension that was later reduced to three months for a similar incident in 2017. ............

 

Still, Agnelli was originally handed a 12-month ban, later reduced to three months, which Tuttosport questions given that Calhanoglu and Inzaghi were given one-match bans for a similar accusation.

 

Tuttosport also questions the fact that the ruling was delivered on May 1, a bank holiday in Italy, and a day where none of the daily sport newspapers are published. ............

 

Tuttosport’s article claims that Inter and Juventus were treated differently by the relevant authorities, labelling it an ‘abysmal difference in treatment’ and accuses the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of acting ‘softly’ in the Inzaghi-Calhanoglu case. ............

Journalist on the ‘war’ of cousins: “Agnelli wants Juventus return, Elkann has two options”

 

 

Italian journalist Michele Criscitiello discussed what he described as the ‘war’ between Juventus majority owner John Elkann and his cousin Andrea Agnelli.

 

When legendary Juventus president and Italian businessman Gianni Agnelli passed away in 2003, his grandson Elkann emerged as the main heir.

 

But since the 49-year-old had always been interested in business rather than sport (or at least football), he entrusted Agnelli with Juventus in 2010.

 

However, his achievements were undone following a series of sporting, legal and political blunders, which eventually forced him to resign in November 2022 before being slapped with a sporting ban.

 

Elkann then replaced Agnelli and the old board with some of his close collaborators, including Gianluca Ferrero and Maurizio Scanavino. ............

 

“Elkann is not a football man and is also failing the second chance that he gave himself,” wrote Criscitiello in his editorial.

 

“He hoped for the disasters and failures of his cousin, he put his finger in where it was not needed and did not enjoy the years of triumphs.

 

“Agnelli had his mistakes, of course. Who doesn’t make mistakes in 10 years of football? But he had brought Juventus back to the top. Starting from zero or minus one. ............

 

“Today, Elkann has two options, not three. Bring his cousin back and say goodbye to football once and for all, or sell Juventus, since no one has the passion and competence of the old Agnellis.

 

“He should rule out the third option on his own: move forward with this senseless project. Juventus must always be a winner and never experimental.”
