Thigh strain confirmed for Julio Cesar

It has been confirmed that Julio Cesar will miss Saturday's Inter-Juventus game after tests revealed the goalkeeper has suffered a thigh strain.

The Brazilian, who has been hit with a number of injury problems in the past 12 months, underwent tests at Inter's training ground on Thursday.

There it was confirmed that the 32-year-old had suffered a second-degree strain of the adductor muscle in his left thigh.

The No 1 sustained the injury in the first half of Wednesday night's match against Atalanta before being withdrawn at half-time.

A recovery period has not yet been set, but second-degree thigh strains are classified as having involved a more extensive number of muscle fibres than a first degree strain and generally take between four and six weeks to fully recover from.

Stefano Mauri missed five weeks of action across September for suffering the same injury. Cesar will likely be replaced by Luca Castellazzi for the weekend Derby d'Italia.
