Juventus want to hold on to Luca Marrone - agent

The 21-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan to Siena but, after impressing of late,

the Bianconeri are reluctant to let him leave again during the current transfer window.

Juventus intend to hold on to Luca Marrone for the rest of the season, according to the player's agent.

The 21-year-old midfielder did not feature for the Bianconeri for the majority of the first half of the season, prompting speculation that the player, who spent last season on loan at Siena, might be allowed to leave during the January transfer window.

However, Marrone has impressed after being afforded some game time in recent weeks and his representative, Giuseppe Bonetto, insists that the Italy Under-21 international is staying in Turin.

"Conte knew him well from having coached Siena and he wanted him at Juve because he knew of and appreciated his qualities,” the agent told TuttoJuve.com.

“We’re calm and I believe that it’s clear that the intention of the club and of Conte is not to allow him to leave for anywhere else.

“Indeed, if this question was put to the coach he would not answer it because they would not even have considered letting him go."

Marrone is a product of the Bianconeri's youth academy and has now made four appearances for the senior team. He was a part of the Juve side which beat Roma 3-0 on Tuesday evening to reach the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

Juventus insist that the capture of Simone Padoin from Atalanta won’t affect the development of Luca Marrone.

Midfielder Padoin arrived from Bergamo this week and there are fears that he’ll now hinder the growth of Under-21 international Marrone.

“These considerations are unfounded,” director general Beppe Marotta underlined. “Antonio Conte always selects the best XI available to him.

“Marrone is an excellent player who can illustrate his ability. Given that he is so young, this experience will help his growth.”

Marrone, born in Turin, has featured in two Serie A games this term and two in the Italian Cup.

He returned to Juve in the summer after a spell at Siena last season under now Juve boss Conte.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined in recent weeks because of a thigh muscle strain in his left leg.

The Turin native, who has played just twice in Serie A this season, took part in the full session with the rest of the squad yesterday.

There has been another change to the Italian Under-21 squad after Roma’s Federico Viviani replaced Luca Marrone of Juventus.

The latter had been included in the 19-man squad for Wednesday’s Azzurrini friendly against Scotland.

However, Juventus have asked for the player to be omitted given that boss Antonio Conte has midfield concerns for the midweek game at Cesena.

Conte has slight worries over the midfield duo of Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

Roma’s Viviani has thus been selected for the Under-21 set-up for the first time.

Juventus have reportedly rejected an offer from Atalanta for the services of Italian Under-21 international Luca Marrone.

Marrone, 22, is a promising midfield player yet he was restricted to just three League appearances during 2011-12.

Atalanta are understood to have made an enquiry for the midfielder earlier this week, but their interest was rebuffed.

Despite his lack of use over the last 12 months, Juventus boss Antonio Conte is an admirer of the Azzurrini regular.

Conte kept him in Turin last summer after working with him at Siena during the 2010-11 Serie B campaign.

Cagliari have also been paired with a bid for the player who was born in Turin back in 1990.

Marrone to consider Juve options

Luca Marrone admits that he has no idea whether he will stay with Italian champions Juventus for the 2012-13 campaign.

The 22-year-old made six appearances for the Old Lady this term, but his desire for first team football may see him move on.

“It is still too early to talk about my future,” he told calciomercato.it. “Obviously I want to play with more regularity, so we’ll have to see whether that will be at Juventus or somewhere else.”

The Italian Under-21 international returned to Turin in the summer at the request of Antonio Conte – the Coach who bossed him at Siena in 2010-11.

“I owe a lot to Conte,” he added. “It was he who asked for me to be kept at Juventus. He was always close to me, even when I didn’t play and he offered me precious advice.

“I grew a lot on a professional and human level over the course of the past season. I’m happy and proud to be a part of the project.”

Marrone has been linked with loan moves to Atalanta, Genoa and Palermo over recent weeks.

Juventus youngster Luca Marrone has hailed head coach Antonio Conte's role in the club's recent success, as he feels the former Italy international does a great job of keeping everybody motivated.

Marrone added that the 42-year-old has played a big part in his personal development, and he is determined to reward the trainer for the faith shown in him.

"The coach makes us all feel important. We feel we have all got a possibility of being in the starting line-up," Marrone stated to the club's official website.

"I have been working with Conte for a few years and I know what he wants, so I will look to make my contribution. The belief shown by him and the club can only give me confidence, pride and desire to work with the utmost commitment."

The 22-year-old then went on to express his delight with Juve's activity in the transfer market, and is hopeful that the Old Lady can replicate last year's success in the new campaign.

Luca Marrone says he’s ready to stay at Juventus to act as cover for Andrea Pirlo during the 2012-13 campaign.

“The Pirlo role is the position in which I prefer to play,” the 22-year-old Italian has commented. “I have the characteristics of a deep-lying playmaker.”

It was unclear what the Old Lady would do with Marrone given that he was limited to just six appearances in all competitions last season.

“Anything can still happen in the transfer market,” the Italian Under-21 international continued. “But the Coach has wanted me to stay in Turin for over a year now and I’m happy.”

Fiorentina have asked Juventus to include Luca Marrone in their offer for Stevan Jovetic, Goal.com can reveal.

The Turin giants saw their previous bid of €13 million plus Alessandro Matri and Michele Pazienza turned down by the Viola, who were initially holding out for a transfer fee of €30m.

However, Fiorentina could now accept an offer in the region of €22m plus 50 per cent of the economical rights of Marrone as head coach Vincenzo Montella sees the 22-year-old midfielder as a useful addition to his squad.

Juventus trainer Antonio Conte considers Marrone to be an important player for the future, and would support the ideal of seeing the former Italy Under-21 starlet earn first-team experience elsewhere as long as the Serie A champions can re-sign him in the future.

Marrone is a product of the Juve youth academy, and made his official first-team debut in the 2009-10 campaign.

Although a deal is still far away at this stage, negotiations between both clubs are ongoing, and the Bianconeri remain hopeful of acquiring Jovetic.

The Montenegro international, 22, was recently stripped of the Fiorentina captaincy, and is keen to make the move to Turin as he wants to play Champions League football.

Luca Marrone has stressed that Juventus are raring to go ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana against Napoli on August 11.

The Old Lady missed out on a domestic double last season, as the Partenopei proved to be too strong in the Coppa Italia final, and the Turin giants will be gunning for revenge on Saturday, according to the youngster.

"The season's only just starting but we feel good, our legs are starting to tick over nicely and in a week's time we'll be in top shape. We're fired up for this game with Napoli," Marrone was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"The Super Cup is the first piece of silverware up for grabs and we're determined to avenge our defeat in the Coppa Italia final. We can't wait to get out there and play it."

Marrone featured in defence earlier this pre-season, and the 22-year-old - a midfielder by trade - has made it clear that he is happy to help out wherever he is needed.

"The boss told me a few days ago that he wanted to try me out in defence," he added.

Luca Marrone has declared himself ecstatic at his increased reponsibilities at Juventus this season, despite playing in an unfamiliar role.

The 22-year-old ended last season by setting the Bianconeri on their way to a 3-1 win over Atalanta and he could not hide his pleasure at figuring in the starting line-up for this term's first game against Parma.

"I was in the starting line-up for the first championship game of the season, in front of our own supporters and - just as it is every time I pull on this shirt - it felt like I was living a dream," Marrone said to Juventus' official website.

"I'm happy with how everything's going. I want to show even more and establish myself as a Juventus player."

Marrone has undergone a switch from his usual midfield position to an unfamiliar defensive role, after impressing as a central-defender during the club's pre-season, and the former Italy Under-21 international praised everyone at the club for their help during his adjustment.

"The toughest thing to take on board is the tactical aspect. You need to maintain your concentration at all times and make the right movements when covering.

"On the other hand I feel at ease when setting the play. I operate practically 10 metres behind Pirlo and have to act as a sweeper.

"In any case there’s a lot to work on during the week and I’m helped by advice from both staff and fellow team-mates.

Luca Marrone has thanked his teammates for helping him settle into a new defensive role for Italian champions Juventus.

The midfielder, 22, was used in the middle of a back-three against Parma because of fitness issues to Giorgio Chiellini, Lucio and Martin Caceres.

“The most important thing is that I felt at home thanks to the help of my more experienced colleagues,” the Italian Under-21 international told Juventus Channel.

“The toughest thing to take on board as a defender is the tactical aspect. You need to maintain your concentration at all times and make the right movements when covering.

Antonio Conte is confident that the young players at Juventus Stadium could make a big impact for his side this season.

He singled out Luca Marrone and Paul Pogba as particular players who could prove important for the Biaonceri.

The Azzurrini qualified for the 2013 European Championship thanks to a thrilling 3-2 victory in Sweden this evening, winning the play-off 4-2 on aggregate.

“We are happy at achieving this target and our dream is to win the European Championship,” Juventus midfielder Marrone told RAI Sport.

The Rosanero’s CEO Pietro Lo Monaco is reported by today’s Corriere dello Sport as intent on strengthening his club’s midfield during the winter break and has identified the Bianconeri’s 22-year-old as an ideal addition.

Udinese, Genoa and Atalanta are all also listed as still tracking the Juve youth product, who has made four appearances for the League leaders this season.

That lack of playing time is thought why a long list is forming to take him in January, but Coach Antonio Conte is seen as a barrier to any potential move, having been repeatedly reported as keen to block any potential exit of Marrone in mid-season.

Italy U-21 suffer Marrone injury

Luca Marrone’s European Under-21 Championship may already be over after the Juventus man suffered an injury in the 1-0 win over England.

The midfielder limped out of Wednesday’s opening encounter and an ultra-sound scan has confirmed a strain to his right hamstring.

It’s unclear how long the 23-year-old will be out of action for, but the tournament in Israel will end on June 18.

This latest injury is a relapse of a recent problem which the youngster has been struggling with.
