The former Sassuolo striker emerged from the bench in Turin to score the only goal of Juve's Scudetto showdown with Napoli, with a 1-0 win propelling the Bianconeri to the top of the table. His 88th-minute goal, which took a telling deflection off Raul Albiol, means Juve boast a one-point advantage after dislodging the Azzurri from first place. Zaza believes the title is now Juve's to lose and hopes his teammates can protect their new status. Following Saturday night's match he told juventus.com: "I really hope my goal proves crucial when it comes to deciding the destination of the title. "I was lucky, though," Zaza said. "It was down to the hard work of my teammates, we all played well in a difficult match. "It was tough, we had to deal with all of their counter-attacks, but our goal throughout was to win, and we did it ... so that's OK. "Now it all depends on what we do. If we can keep playing that way then no one will take the title away from us. We are now the top dogs." Defeated visiting coach Maurizio Sarri was crestfallen after watching Juve snatch all three points at the death. Napoli had led the division since deposing Inter Milan over the festive period, but must now hope Juve slip up at some point across the final 13 games. At his post-match news conference he said: "I'm disappointed we conceded right at the very end. We spent the whole game defending really well. "We have to stay calm, because we can't let a deflected finish dash our self-belief. We played really well and it's rare to see Juventus create so few chances at home. We, however, should have done more up front. "There are not many teams in Europe who can come to this stadium and match Juventus. We did that. "We must react immediately. To become a great team you have to learn from bad experiences and move on from them very quickly." http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

In a close match that both sides had their chances in, it was the injury-hit Bianconeri who seized the initiative in the Serie A title race. After the game, manager Massimiliano Allegri commented on the tactical battle that he and his Partenopei counterpart Maurizio Sarri had just waged - "It was a very tactical match. "We have this objective in our sights. It'll be very difficult, as there are 13 games to go and Napoli again proved themselves to be a very good side both individually and as a unit. "It was a balanced encounter and only a moment could change it. I compliment the lads for their performance and their patience. "We needed this attitude and tempo, because the likes of Higuain, Callejon, Insigne, Allan and Hamsik can cause huge problems if they run into space. The lads did really well to block off the spaces between the lines. "Apart from that chance in the first half stopped by Leonardo Bonucci's intervention, we allowed Napoli very little. "We had to go back to playing four at the back tonight and it's a good sign, as it means we can play with this system and have guarantees. "It was a sort of lopsided 4-4-2, as we don't have a winger on the left and used Paul Pogba there." Allegri also spoke about the changes he made that delivered the win, with substitutes Alex Sandro assisting another sub Zaza to score - "At that time I made the tactical change so we had Alex Sandro going one-on-one against the Napoli full-back. I knew only an incident could shake up the balance of the match and Zaza provided it. "It was a tactical game and Napoli used up a lot of energy, as Insigne and Callejon were practically wingers and therefore had to run 50 metres on every counter to reach the goal. "We could've done a little better in possession, but we played with great authority." On Oct. 28, Juve were 12th after 10 games with just 12 points, their worst ever start to a Serie A season. Fifteen consecutive wins later, they are top of the table - "Nothing happens by chance. We started with seven or eight new players, had some injuries and other unfavourable situations, but once we found our shape and organisation we improved both as individuals and a unit. "The so-called oldies went back to leading the way and everything went well. I always tell the players we can't have just one system and that situations change during a game, so we must we quick to read those situations and adjust. "Daniele Rugani did very well coming off the bench in a difficult situation. Andrea Barzagli had an extraordinary match, as did Bonucci until he got that knock. "We do need more patience and to improve in possession, as especially in the Champions League with Bayern Munich we will need a lot of patience and hard work." On the subject of preventing match-winner Zaza from leaving during the January transfer window - "I'm glad I stopped him leaving. At the end of the year the difference will be made by the depth we have in our squad. Now we have a match against Bologna and then against Bayern Munich." http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016As Napoli entered Juventus Stadium with a two-point lead at the top of Serie A, they did so knowing the match against the reigning champions would undoubtedly have a major impact on the destination of this year’s league title. When the final whistle blew, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline, with Simone Zaza’s second-half goal placing the Bianconeri at the top of the table for the first time in 2015/16.It was a high-pressure game, something that visiting striker Gonzalo Higuain had warned against earlier in the week during an interview with Tg1. “Everything depends on us,” the Argentina international said (h/t beIn Sports), “we have to keep calm and keep our feet on the ground," Higuain told the programme.”While they would fail to maintain their advantage, there was much to admire on Saturday evening, and what follows is a look at the winners and losers from the game, highlighting the best and worst performances from the top-of-the-table clash.Winner: Simone Zaza (Juventus)After his red card against Chievo, Simone Zaza had much to do in order to regain favour with fans of the Bianconeri. Introduced as a second-half substitute here, he would work relentlessly to do just that, with his efforts rewarded with less than five minutes of a difficult clash remaining.Collecting the ball just outside the Napoli area, the former Sassuolo man would fire a shot past the helpless Pepe Reina, handing the Bianconeri an advantage they would not relinquish before the final whistle blew.Loser: Raul Albiol (Napoli)The game looked to be heading for a draw until Simone Zaza’s late strike—a goal no player will regret more than Napoli defender Raul Albiol. The Spain international was responsible for the deflected effort that beat his compatriot Pepe Reina—a goal that ultimately cost the Partenopei all three points here in Turin.Having also squandered the two best scoring chances for the visitors, it is a night Albiol will look to quickly forget.Winner: Andrea Barzagli (Juventus)If Juve’s back line was hampered by injury, then the Bianconeri were fortunate to be able to rely on Andrea Barzagli here. While Giorgio Chiellini missed the game with a knock and Leonardo Bonucci was withdrawn shortly after half-time, the former Palermo man was superb throughout this encounter. As he has been countless times over the past five years, Barzagli was a reliable member of the side from start to finish, ensuring Serie A’s best defence retained its shape over the course of 95 difficult minutes.Loser: Maurizio Sarri (Napoli)While his side came incredibly close to taking a share of the spoils, there is little doubt Maurizio Sarri will rue the way events unfolded at Juventus Stadium on Saturday evening. The Napoli coach arrived in Turin determined to lead his side to victory, but ultimately oversaw a loss that saw his team relinquish first place."It was a very even game with few chances. It's a pity that we conceded shortly before the final whistle," he said at the post-match press conference (h/t FourFourTwo.com). "We have to remain calm. A deflected shot will not destabilise us. We put in a good performance. It's quite rare that Juventus hardly create any chances in a home game. We could perhaps have done more going forward, but this was a good performance.”Adding that he hopes his players will “react right away,” there is little doubt he will be disappointed with the result. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Going into the match holding a slender advantage at the top of the table, the visitors knew that a positive result would see them fully in control of the title race with just 13 games remaining. For most of the encounter it seemed they would share the points with the reigning champions, only for Simone Zaza to find the back of the net in the 88th minute, his shot taking a deflection off Raul Albiol along the way. It was a decisive touch that lifted the effort over goalkeeper Pepe Reina, but it also saw the Bianconeri leapfrog their opponents and take a one-point lead over their rivals. It is the first time the Turin giants have been in first place during 2015/16, and their current form makes overhauling them now an even more daunting proposition. But while Zaza deserves much credit for his winning goal, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri instead told reporters at his post-match press conference that events at the opposite end of the field were even more crucial: It was a very tight encounter between two teams that deservedly find themselves in first and second in the table. Napoli kept the ball very well in spells and would have scored themselves were it not for [Leonardo] Bonucci’s first-half interception. These kinds of games are often decided by one moment and that is actually what happened tonight. He was referring to the intervention shown in the clip below, the defender somehow managing to flick Elseid Hysaj’s cross away from Gonzalo Higuain with the score at 0-0, preventing an almost certain goal from European football’s most in-form striker. With the Argentinian having struck 24 times already this season, shutting out Napoli is a remarkable achievement for the Bianconeri and marked their 13th clean sheet of the campaign. It was another outstanding performance from the back line, with Gigi Buffon singling out Andrea Barzagli for particular praise. “I’d be tempted to rip up his identity card,” the captain told reporters per the club’s official website. “Even if he’s 35 years of age, I’d never hesitate once about playing him in the most important match of the season so far.” With Martin Caceres and Giorgio Chiellini ruled out through injury, Allegri opted for something resembling a four-man defence rather than the 3-5-2 framework that has served them well in recent weeks, and Barzagli undoubtedly held that together. Indeed, as Bonucci hobbled off shortly after half-time, it was the former Palermo and Wolfsburg man who led the way, with the graphic in the tweet below highlighting the extent of his influential display.Adam Digby @Adz77 Andrea Barzagli #JuveNapoli (13/2/16): 3 interceptions. 6 clearances, 40/47 passes (85.1%), 0 fouls (via @StatsZone) It shows that Barzagli made three interceptions, six clearances and won the one aerial duel he contested, while completing 40 of his 47 pass attempts (85.1 percent). He also managed to not commit a single foul, a key statistic against Serie A’s most prolific attack. It was the latest in a string of flawless displays from the veteran defender, who believes the collective mindset of the squad has been vital to their recent form. “At the end of the day, the most important thing beyond any records is that we have recaptured that ruthless mentality that has made this club what it is,” he told Sky Italia recently (h/t Juventus.com). Adding that they “can’t afford to think about what we have achieved,” it is an approach that will be essential as the Bianconeri face tests against Inter and Bayern Munich before the end of the month. Along with Buffon and Chiellini, Barzagli and Bonucci form the foundation on which their success has been built, and Juventus will hope that continues until the end of the campaign as they bid for a fifth-consecutive Serie A crown. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016 Napoli, suffering only their third defeat of the campaign, travelled north looking for a league double over the champions for the first time since the 2009-2010 campaign. But just as the match looked to be heading for a draw, Zaza finished off a great Juve counter in the 88th minute with a powerful shot from 22 yards that took a slight deflection before beating Pepe Reina in the Napoli net. “I hope this turns out to be a title-winning goal,” said Zaza, who was one of several Italy fringe players being watched by Azzurri coach Antonio Conte in Turin. Juve are now top of the table with Napoli, who are seeking their first title since 1990 when Diego Maradona steered the southern club to just their second title, now second and a point adrift. After applauding the “solid” defence that kept a tight rein on Napoli’s 24-goal hero Gonzalo Higuain, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted: “We got our revenge.” But he expects a tight battle with Maurizio Sarri’s men in the title run-in and added: “Compared to last year at this point we have one point less, so the title fight will be tight and there won’t be just Napoli but also Inter and Fiorentina. “Despite the fact we’ve put together 15 consecutive wins, Napoli were always in front of us.” Napoli coach Sarri all but admitted Juve’s defence had been key: “We were lacking something in the final 20 yards, which is only normal when you’re up against such a strong side. “Eight months ago they were 24 points behind us, now we’re almost tied.” Juve fans, however, will be hoping for vast improvements against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 in just over a week’s time. The chances for both sides were few and far between in a nervous opening half in which not conceding a goal seemed to be the order of the day. Juan Cuadrado and Paul Pogba, with a 25-yard freekick, had come closest for Juve in an opening half in which Napoli really only came to life on the cusp of the interval. First, Gianluigi Buffon produced a fine reflex save from Raul Albiol’s close-range volley from a corner. Higuain then held the ball up well to find Lorenzo Insigne with a blind pass, only for the Italian to over-hit his return as the Argentinian rushed to the back post. Napoli resumed where they had left off and Juve looked asleep as the diminutive Insigne somehow muscled his way across the left byline to force a block from Buffon in the opening minute after the restart. Juve won a corner and a well-worked move saw Claudio Marchisio send a high ball over the defence to Sami Khedira, but Patrice Evra blasted the cutback over from six yards. But home manager Massimiliano Allegri seemed alert to the danger and soon made two changes, Daniele Rugani replacing Leonardo Bonucci and Zaza coming on for Alvaro Morata. Zaza’s impact was almost immediate, the Italian battling for possession deep on the right to set up Dybala on the edge of the area before the Argentinian was closed down. Minutes later Pogba, from deep on the left, set up Dybala at the same spot but the striker flashed his first-time effort just over. Finally, the Juve crowd were up on their feet but it took the hosts another quarter-hour — in between seeing Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik fire a 25-yard strike just wide — to produce their next chance. Pogba held off several players on a pacey run up the middle, but despite Cuadrado screaming for service, the Frenchman hit a shot that bobbled towards a thankful Reina. Allegri appeared to have signalled that he was happy with a share of the spoils when he replaced Dybala with Brazilian defender Alex Sandro in the dying minutes. But after an exchange of passes, Zaza took two strides ahead of his marker to unleash the shot from outside the area that left Reina powerless, and sent Juventus Stadium into raptures. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

After famously picking up just 12 points through their first 10 matches, they've ascended to the top of Serie A with a commanding 15-game winning streak. On Saturday night, they went up against their biggest test thus far, Napoli, without some of their top players and emerged victorious. The excitement was through the roof in the lead-up to the biggest match of the Serie A season thus far, with Juve and their 14-game winning streak going up against Napoli and their eight-game streak. The Bianconeri faithful were loud throughout the match and you could see the emotion on the players' faces as they walked out on to the pitch. Paul Pogba was bouncing back and forth between teammates, getting them hyped up as well. The players' energy matched the fans' early on. Napoli came out aggressively, with their defense high up the pitch. Despite playing in a tough road environment, Napoli seemed to want to make a statement that they would continue to play their usual high-scoring brand of soccer. Juventus came out in a 4-4-2, a break from the usual 3-5-2 they've ridden for the entire win streak. Max Allegri's hand was forced a bit tactically, with Giorgio Chiellini out with an injury. The desire to include both Juan Cuadrado and Stephan Lichtsteiner may also have played a part in the formation change.Juventus held off Napoli's early attacking attempts fairly comfortably before a 16th-minute injury to Leonardo Bonucci, which he suffered after running into Sami Khedira. He would come on the pitch, but didn't quite look the same afterward. After the opening salvo from Napoli, Juve started to gain control of the match, taking over more and more of the possession and pushing higher up the pitch. Some nice combination play between Khedira and Pogba led to a free kick in good position, only for Pogba to fire just outside of the top right corner. Soon after, Juve began to turn up the aggressiveness, led by some expert passing from Claudio Marchisio. Juve's sustained possession forced Napoli to emphasize counterattacking more. The biggest chance of the first half came as Bonucci wasn't quite able to track a Gonzalo Higuaín run down the middle of the box, only for Bonucci to make an incredible recovery, extending his leg high in the air to just barely knock the ball out for a corner kick, prompting the announcer to remark, "he must be doing a lot of yoga." That would be the closest Higuaín would get to scoring all game. The ensuing corner kick appeared to yield a chance for Napoli, with Gigi Buffon making a save at the far post, but the shot wouldn't have counted anyway, thanks to a push in Barzagli's back. Though it may not have counted, the save was emblematic of Buffon's constant mental readiness. Soon after in the 38th, Napoli just barely missed Higuaín again and this time, Bonucci wasn't quite ready to pounce on it. At this point it started to become clear that the collision he took on the knee earlier was affecting his movement. The 40th minute would see Juve's first shot on goal, as Marchisio attempted a long shot that, despite a deflection, wasn't quite enough to trouble Pepe Reina. Juan Cuadrado would beat multiple defenders off the dribble shortly after, only to not find any of his teammates in the box. All in all, scoring chances were few and far between in the first half, with both back lines looking very secure.Napoli finally generated a shot on target from Lorenzo Insigne in the first minute of the second half, but it was easy work for Buffon. Remarkably, that would be the visitors' only shot on target for the entire match. Daniele Rugani replaced Bonucci in the 52nd but things didn't get any easier for Napoli. Juve generated a few decent chances in the second half, with Patrice Evra and Paulo Dybala sending shots from inside the box just over the crossbar. For long stretches of the match, it didn't much feel like either side would get a goal.Álvaro Morata had a quiet night, never quite seeming connected to Juve's attack before coming off for Simone Zaza in the 58th minute with an apparent hand injury. On the other side, Higuaín was visibly frustrated at both himself and his teammates. He had virtually no space to operate at any point in the second half and his lone shot attempt for the night was a complete non-threat. It felt like every cross or long pass fired his way was being casually cut out by Andrea Barzagli, who was brilliant all match long. After an excellent run from Pogba, where he dribbled past multiple players, was wasted on an off target long shot, it seemed as if Juve was willing to just shut the game down and pick up the single point. However, in the 88th, Juve had a moment of magic. Zaza received the ball in the middle, faked inside, dribbled outside, and launched a shot that took a slight deflection, then sailed past Reina's fingertips into the back of the net. It was a joyout moment for the Juve players, who all rushed to embrace the match-winner.Juve nearly added an insurance goal on the break a minute later, but Khedira's pass to Pogba was just a bit late. Gabbiadini would get a half-chance for Napoli, in the 90th, but he shanked the shot with his right foot and Juve wrapped up the match comfortably after that.Le PagelleBuffon 6 – Wasn't tested at all. He was his usual cool and collected self in goal.Lichtsteiner 6 – Solid in defense.Bonucci 6 - Slowed by injuries, he still managed one remarkable stop. Nearly gave one away though.Barzagli 9 MOTM – Look up "veteran defender" in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of Barzagli and his rugged beardEvra 6 - Made some very good defensive plays in the first half. Wasn't too involved going forward.Cuadrado 6.5 – Can beat anyone off the dribble but his passing was off today.Khedira 7 – Was one of the few players excelling in the attack in the first half. Good all-around game.Marchisio 7 – Kept the ball very well and played some very good long passes.Pogba 6.5 – Provided some danger nearly set up Dybala for a goal. Couldn't quite connect with his long shotsMorata 5 – Wasn't quite connected with the rest of the team.Dybala 6 – Not his best performance, but passed well when he dropped into the midfieldRugani 7 – Solid. Always in the right spot. Very poised performance from the young center back.Zaza 7 – Played reasonably well up until the massive game-winnerSandro – Not enough time for a gradeThings I Think I Think- I'm still buzzing from the winning goal. I jumped up and nearly knocked over my laptop.- Barzagli was brilliant tonight. Nothing seemed to trouble him. His defending had Higuaín visibly frustrated all day.- Juve didn't have a great game on the attack (they had just 4 shots on goal), but, without Chiellini and with only half a game from Bonucci, they held the league's' most prolific attack to one shot on target. One. Gigi could have taken a nap in the middle of the second half. Defense wins championships, guys.- The players showed how much they cared about this one. The team's celebration after the goal was legitimately heartwarming.- Juve's schedule is about to get tough, with four of their next seven matches against Bayern and Inter. If they can keep defending like this, though, I think they'll weather the storm. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016 Max Allegri admits Juventus were lucky to beat Napoli and “as we’re top of the table, we are now Scudetto favourites.” The Bianconeri had their worst ever start to a Serie A season, but with 15 consecutive victories became leaders for the first time since winning the title last May. “Are we the Scudetto favourites? Alright I’ll make you happy. As we are now top of the table, we are the favourites,” the Coach told reporters in a Press conference. Simone Zaza’s 88th minute strike took a decisive deflection off Raul Albiol to decide the 1-0 result. “Luck is fundamental in life. A friend of mine used to tell me: always hang around with the lucky ones! “It was a very complicated match. Napoli are a side who play really well and the lads did well to stop them taking the initiative. “We had the strength and patience to let them pass the ball around. These are tactical games, the kind that need an incident to break the deadlock. “Gonzalo Higuain is an extraordinary striker, but he was faced with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and then Daniele Rugani. “It was an important victory for the campaign, especially as we kept our distance from third place. I am very happy that we were able to beat a Napoli side that came here on the back of eight consecutive wins. “I still believe it’ll be an exciting end to the season. Napoli aren’t the only ones challenging for the title, as Inter and Fiorentina will be up there too. “These have been three very intense months and it was a great achievement to overtake Napoli.” Allegri still had pointers for his side even after an all-time club record run. “We are improving, but can do even better. Paul Pogba likes to showboat a bit too much, but he’ll slowly improve this aspect of his game too.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016 Maurizio Sarri concedes Napoli showed their lack of experience in a 1-0 defeat to Juventus, but “it can help us grow.” The Bianconeri snatched a last-gasp victory with Simone Zaza’s deflected effort, knocking the Partenopei off the top spot. “We were extraordinary in defence, but were facing the best defence in Serie A,” said Sarri in his Press conference. “We forced Juve to remove a striker and introduce a defender just before the goal. One negative incident does not wipe out an entire performance. It can happen against a solid side like Juve, as we overall played on level terms. “Something was lacking in the final third, but we are not Juve, we are not accustomed to playing certain matches. We have many young players in the squad. “Perhaps we defended so well because we attacked a little less than usual. I hope the lads will take the positive aspects of this game. “We need to evaluate the entire 93 minutes and not just one deflected shot. Looking at it that way, Napoli ought to come out of it with more confidence and self-belief. Admittedly, straight after a defeat like that, anger prevails over logic. “We have to accept the result and hope to take something positive from it. Right now there is anger, because this is a game where we could’ve taken a draw or even a victory. “At least this match can help us to grow up a little. We’ll see if in future luck is on our side. Napoli deserve praise for coming to Turin and playing on a par with a team much better-equipped than us. Juve remain on another level.” Napoli had only two Italians in the starting XI and one by the final whistle, so could this aspect affect the Scudetto race? “If it was up to me, we’d still have only two foreign players allowed, like in the 1970s. Feb 14, 2016 English sources suggest Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola could be sacked if he fails to defeat Juventus. The two giants of Italian and German football will play each other on February 23 and March 16 for a Last 16 Champions League round. According to the Sunday Express, the match could prove decisive for one of the most valued coaches in Europe, as Bayern could sack Guardiola should he fail to make it to the quarter-finals. Guardiola's next career move is widely known as he is due to take up Manuel Pellegrini's mantle as Manchester City's Coach next summer. But the Germans are concerned that Guardiola may not be properly focused on his current job, thinking instead of next season's appointment. A loss against Juventus could therefore be interpreted as symptomatic that the Spaniard is no longer fit to lead Bayern. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016 The Girlfriend of Italy was in for a last minute pre-Valentine’s Day present, as Simone Zaza’s deflected shot found the back of the net in the 88th minute. The Italian forward had been subbed on for Spaniard Alvaro Morata shortly before the hour mark, and he proved to be the super-sub that Juventus needed. After the match, the 24-year-old claimed that his goal was a lucky strike, but said that his club could now dictate terms in the Serie A. “I was lucky, though,” Zaza said to juvent “It was down to the hard work of my teammates, we all played well in a difficult match.” “It was tough, we had to deal with all of their counter-attacks, but our goal throughout was to win, and we did it … so that’s OK.” “Now it all depends on what we do. If we can keep playing that way then no one will take the title away from us. We are now the top dogs.” The Old Lady presides over the Serie A again. The victory against their closest title rivals could go on to be crucial in the Bianconeri’s hunt for their 5th consecutive Scudetto. This was the first time that Juventus climbed to the top of the table this season after a lacklustre start, as they marched to their 15th league victory on the trot. Meanwhile, Napoli relinquished their 2 point lead following the defeat. The Old Lady now hold a one point advantage over the Partenopei. That does seem to be a minuscule margin, but with just 13 games to go in the campaign, easy points will be hard to come by. If Juventus continue to play in the same form, then the title truly is theirs to lose. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016 Juventus keeper Gigi Buffon believes Napoli deserved at least a point from their game against the Bianconeri. “With 15 minutes to go, I would not have been disappointed with a draw, then Zaza pulled the rabbit out the hat,” Buffon told reporters after the game. “In the final 10 minutes, Napoli had the initiative. The thought of being able to win only comes in those situations if you’ve done it many times before. “Napoli made it tough for us and deserved at least a point this evening. We’ve got a really top quality side behind us in the table. “I admit I would’ve been worried if Napoli had won tonight, because recovering a five-point gap would not have been easy. “At the age of 35, Barzagli is in great shape. Feb 14, 2016 Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli did all the right things in their key title clash with Juventus on Saturday night, but were still ousted from the top spot thanks to a last gasp Simone Zaza strike. “We'll prepare for the game the way that we always do,” the Coach said before the game. “We'll isolate ourselves from everything that surrounds us, even though our supporters are a great deal of help.” True to their boss’ word, his side showed no fear in the opening minutes, pressing high up the pitch and attacking from the outset. The visitors even looked like they were about to take the lead just before half time when Gonzalo Higuain appeared certain to add to his season tally of 24, only for Leonardo Bonucci to make a seemingly impossible clearance, as the incredulous Argentine looked on aghast. These two table-topping teams had only conceded 34 goals in Serie A between them, and so it was no surprise that the score remained 0-0 heading into the final stages of the game. Despite the heavily hyped build up, the match had not turned into a cagey affair as both sides looked to break the deadlock. Sarri’s men looked to be heading back to Naples with a point and their status at the top of the league intact, only for Zaza – a second half substitute – to power home a left footed shot from distance in the 88th minute. "I hope it's a decisive goal as far as the title race is concerned," said Zaza after the game. "The good thing is it's now in our hands." This is exactly the problem for Napoli, as the title race is now in the hands of the team who has won the league in the last four consecutive years. There is obviously still a long way to go until the end of the season, but that solitary goal changed the entire psychological balance of the title race. Napoli were just minutes away from ending their rivals’ 14 game winning streak and would have remained in first place by the end of the evening. Instead the team that has been slowly but surely hunting them down and closing the gap since October has now overtaken them for the first time. Taking heart from the way the Partenopei had played, the Coach used his post-match press conference to discuss the progress made since he joined the club from Empoli. “I think the fact we played on a par with Juventus on their own turf – one of the best teams in Europe, let alone Italy – shows how Napoli have improved.” Despite the positives though, he was all too aware that his focus will now be shifted towards lifting the players in order to regain their momentum, going on to say that “if we are to become a big team, we have to absorb and get over a negative incident.” With a tough Europa League tie with Villarreal on Thursday and an improving Milan next weekend they will need to move on from this spirit-crushing defeat quickly. A loss against Milan and a Juventus win over Bologna would see a gap start to emerge between the two, and Max Allegri’s side will be in no mood to concede the top slot having battled so hard against the odds to achieve it. The fact that Napoli did compete on an equal footing with the Old Lady but lost anyway shows the scale of the task in order to prise the trophy from the hands of the champions come the end of the season. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 14, 2016We approached this crunch tie with the league leaders on the back of 14 straight victories well aware that to win would complete a remarkable recovery from our worst start to a Serie A campaign on record, by reaching the summit. Whilst confidence was high, the same could be said of our opponents, who were embarking on their own record breaking winning sequence, playing quality football with Higuain spear-heading the charge with 24 goals in 24 games. The injury nightmare which was running at full horror level earlier this season remained an issue for Allegri, who was missing Chiellini, Caceres, Mandzukic, Asamoah and Lemina. Pereyra remained on the come-back trail yet made the bench, with Khedira returning from his latest stint in the medical ward sooner than had been earlier expected, to earn a starting berth. Napoli were at full strength. Player Ratings Buffon 6,5 - Largely untested due to the extremely well marshalled back line, other than a simple block at the near post to Insigne. And a save he made when a foul was called on Barzagli.Lichsteiner 7 - With Cuadrado in front of him offering next to zero defensive assistance, the Swiss Locomotive reverted to a fullback role with zeal and typical determination. Tried to get forward when possible and kept his right flank defensive zone locked tight against all intruders. Generally kept Insigne away from goal other than on the one occasion when he was able to find space in the area, yet the wide man was pushed into a position too acute to seriously threaten. Less conspicuous than normal due to his task of focusing upon defensive rather than offensive duties combined, nonetheless robust and reliable.Bonucci 9 - Alongside Barzagli, Big Leo made Higuain appear rather normal. Matched him in strength, marked him out the game, and when the one chance appeared with a delightful ball played into the box, the burly stopper was on hand to stretch out a toe to send the ball out of reach of the marauding Argie. It was a sublime piece of defensive prowess. As good as a penalty save. I was worried when Khedira took him out! Tried to continue into the second half but was taken off due to the knock. Hope he is right for Munich.Andrea Barzagli 9,5 - Phenomenal. Indomitable. Supremely strong, intelligent and his positioning – as always – was world class. He was ubiquitous and perfection personified. Adjusted his role wonderfully when Rugani replaced Big Leo. Absolutely superb in every aspect of his game.Evra 7 - Much the busier of the fullbacks, due partly to shackling Callejon (whose movement is hard to track without leaving gaping holes behind for his comrades to exploit), yet also the nearby presence of Pogba, who is always looking for the ball, always looking to attack, able to support as much as demand others find space when he has the ball at his feet. More penetration came down that flank from our opponents, yet the veteran was not beaten in any one on one situation. A gritty performance.Cuadrado 6,5 - I may well ruffle a few feathers with the following, but so be it…Whilst the Colombian has been impressive of late, I have remained unconvinced of his true value, for the opposition has not been amazing and other players around him have been in wonderful form. I was very keen indeed to see how he would fare against a decent side in convincing, confident stature. He has great pace and is capable of moments of cheeky flair which combine well against weaker opposition to produce a few goals and assists. However, against solid foes, his poor final ball and haphazard decision making become more obvious. He will often shoot if he finds himself in the box without looking up to see what else is on. His range of passing is slender. His crossing questionable. Dribbling ability based more on pace than staggering ball control. And he offers nothing defensively other than the need for opponents to track space in front of him, to avoid his pace finding the coast clear. When you see how powerful a player Willian is, it becomes more understandable why he was given less time at Chelsea. Not the exact same position, but similar. The Brazilian is superior in every aspect of the game.I feel we are stronger with Lichsteiner as the RWB in a 3-5-2. And Sandro on the left. More balanced, more solid in both the defensive and offensive phases. His finest moment in this match came very late on when winning a free kick (another aspect of his game which is a strength) late on to help the clock tick down…On the right attacking flank I remember the little solider, Di Livio, who was incredibly hard working, hugely spirited and could cross. And then that devil rat Camonaresi, who was spiteful, poor pace, yet could cross and scrap. What can Cuadrado do exceptionally well which involves the ball at his feet other than run in a straight line??? Comparing him with Sandro leaves the Colombian a shadow, in terms of talent on the ball. For me, when we are focused on creating a team capable of challenging the other elite clubs with far more financial potency, he is not of the required talent to be anything other than a useful squad player.Khedira 7 - Returning from his most recent of niggling muscular injuries, Big Sami continued to earn the plaudits with an intelligent, dynamic showing. He is an extremely experienced, astute footballer, whose presence in the ranks has gone a long way to filling the Vidal hole. Far too strong to muscle of the ball, wins close to 100% of 50/50 challenges, distributes the ball wisely and swiftly and consistently finds useful positions in the final third whilst never neglecting his defensive duties. In the 16 games he has featured, we have drawn twice, won fourteen.Marchisio 8 - Superbly anchored the side, covered the defence, ran himself into the ground screening the rear-guard and making himself available for the ball. Kept things simple, drove the team onwards with his trademark top drawer technique, allowed Jorginho and company no path through the midfield to goal. Measured and classy.Pogba 7 - Our gallic emperor in the making was in fine fettle. Constantly involved in everything positive, running hard, driving forward with the ball at his feet whenever a hint of opportunity appeared. His passing was incisive, decision making has improved and had he brought his shooting boots no doubt he would have tested Reina with several of his efforts from range. Laid on a wonderful chance for Dybala, picked up a booking for a petulant tackle after losing the ball…overall impressive, yet we know he is capable of more.Morata 6 - Worked incredibly hard, was lighting quick in the turn, yet toiled more than achieved anything of note. Would be great to see him play alongside both Dybala and Mandzukic, yet given his eagerness to roam, when coupled solely with Dybala, who has been converted into moving not just across the front line but also coming deep to get on the ball, the Spaniard finds space harder to come by up top. Still seeking his top gear.Dybala 6,5 - Well covered, came deep often to find the ball and create, had one gilt-edged chance in the box put on a plate by Pogba, yet blasted the shot a few feet above the bar. Other than which showed improved tenacity – he has become far more physical and less easy to knock off the ball – and commendable grit. His ball control is always sublime. No space, little time, yet a commendable offering.SUBSRugani 6,5 - Too wet around the ears to start, yet when called into the action, young Daniele kept things simple, showed intelligent positional awareness and hardly put a foot wrong. The only time he did, Lichsteiner was in attendance to mop up. A valuable learning experience for a player yet to be given the chance to display his obvious potential.Zaza 8 - My scribbles made during the game show repeatedly ‘NEED A REFERENCE POINT UP TOP’. For we lacked any presence centrally in the final third. It was an obvious move, which Allegri timed well. The problem with Zaza is that a worryingly high amount of his ‘tackles’ are not just potential red cards, but potentially career ending! hohoho! The value of the 24 year old striker is that he is a human battering ram, with an eye for goal. Herein lies the positive aspect of a player well aware of his capabilities, for in such a situation as he found himself, perhaps Dybala or Morata would have sought a team-mate, yet seeing nothing on, Simone powered past one defender, found a hint of space, then smashed a left drive through Reina for what turned out to be the winner. Sarri can bang on about the ‘deflection’ yet it was the power that beat Reina, not the deflection. Absolutely stunning strike to take us top after a wonderful team performance.Sandro 7 - Very little time to impress, yet as has been the case all season, the Brazilian makes an impact. Played his part in the goal, and troubled the defence in his short time on field. A superb signing, who gets better by the game.ConclusionI agree with Sarri in that Napoli pretty much matched us, yet in saying that, his side were at full strength and on a wonderful run of victories. We have also been on a delightful victory march, yet the difference is, we have not been at full strength. Allegri opted for Cuadrado instead of Rugani (who was needed to continue the 3-5-2) which I understood, as he knows best, and his moves from the bench literally changed the game. Two of the subs were involved in the winning goal. Il mister did not bring on Sandro to defend, he calculated the natural instinct to attack the fullback could cause problems, and he was right. If we approach the analysis in terms of chances created, we should have won 2-0. For Dybala, 9 times out of 10 would have buried the chance beautifully crafted by Pogba. Other than a potential opening close to goal for Higuain which Bonucci dealt with magnificently, and a half chance for Insigne at the near post, Napoli did not make any clear cut chances.I was a little worried to see Dybala clutching his thigh and also Big Leo heading off, yet retain hope that neither injury will be added to the list of casualties to preclude their involvement in the coming war against the Germans. Both sides played well. The dominance was mainly with us in the first period, then more with Napoli – in terms of possession – for the first segment of the second. Our defence was superb. The absence of a prima punta was telling for much of our attacking impetus, Cuadrado flattered to deceive, and Pogba forgot his shooting boots. However, we looked incredibly solid and confident. Khedira did not appear in the slightest a player returning from injury. Such was our organisation, belief and consistency that we kept quiet a striker which even the english press have been touting as the finest CF in Europe this season. Yet not just Higuain, also Hamsik, Insigne and Callejon, who have all looked supreme in recent months, were all made to look average. Huge credit to Max and his flock…We still have Pererya – a personal favourite of mine- to reintegrate into the squad. Which will allow us to deploy a 4-3-1-2. Drop the need for Dybala to forage deep. And add style and ingenuity to the link between midfield and attack. We also have Chellini to return, alongside Asamoah, and even Lemina deserves a mention. And finally, there is Mandzukic, a beast of a player whose mere presence in the first XI often occupies two defenders for the entirety of a game.We faced off against a full strength Napoli side in optimum form, missing several key players from our ranks, in a balanced game. Had it ended a draw I would have had few complaints, yet we pushed harder and made our own luck for the win, which on the balance of play, tight as it was, was as fair and just as a draw would have been. This side has the makings of serious greatness. It is growing in style, confidence and potency. We have beaten a side many have been saying were playing the best football in Italy, and have wrestled control of our Serie A destiny back into our own hands. Allegri and the players deserve huge credit for this mammoth achievement. From our worst ever start in Serie A to a 15 match winning streak to the top. Outstanding. By any measure, of any league, of any era.Coming from such an atrocious position can only have instilled in the newcomers the true value of lo stile juve. There is nothing left to be fearful of domestically…I believe we are facing stronger competition in Italy yet we are growing stronger in turn. If, and its a huge if, we can keep Pogba in the Summer, we truly could have a team capable of developing into a side equal to Barca, Real and Bayern, the three teams I presently rank above us, not just in spending power but in talent. Absent of Cuadrado, with Sandro bedded in, there are no obvious weak points to the side, which has presently and for the next year or so, a wonderful mix of huge experience at the top level, youthful exuberance and world class talent. There is also hunger and blossoming confidence. The tie against Munich may come too soon for our work in progress, yet I doubt the Germans are looking forward to facing Dybala, Pogba, Sandro and the veterans with victory in their DNA.Most positive of all, is that this team has yet to reach its potential.A solid performance and continuation of our record breaking winning run and a victory which assuredly will have major bearing on the campaign for the league title.Outstanding, in so many ways…Forza Juve.StatisticsMan of the Match: Andrea BarzagliFlop of the Match: N/ACorners: 4Pass Accuracy: 83%Shots on Target: 4Total Shots: 13Ball Possession: 44%Formation: 3-5-2 Formation LineupsJuventusBuffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci (Rugani 52), Barzagli, Evra; Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Morata (Zaza 58), Dybala (Alex Sandro 86)NapoliReina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan (Gabbiadini 90), Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Higuain, Insigne (Mertens 77)Ref: OrsatoPollWho was your man of the match against Napoli?Barzagli 74%Zaza 14%Bonucci 5%Cuadrado 3%Marchisio 2%Pogba 1%Buffon 0%Lichtsteiner 0%Rugani 0%Khedira 0%Evra 0%Morata 0%Dybala 0%Sandro 0%Votes 129 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 15, 2016 Even Gianluigi Buffon was left amazed. “I’d be tempted to rip up his identity card. Even if he’s 35 years of age, I’d never hesitate once about playing him in the most important match of the season so far.” High praise from somebody who has seen and done it all. Andrea Barzagli is the unassuming member of a defensive trio which has frustrated some of Europe’s best. He’s calculated and clinical, but never flustered. And when thrust into a leadership role on Saturday he responded superbly. Not an easy task when the in-form Gonzalo Higuain is lurking metres away. Barzagli was the steady figure Juventus needed in their tense but pivotal 1-0 success against Napoli. Not only was it second hosting first, but also a meeting of Serie A’s meanest defence and deadliest attack. In a closely-fought encounter where chances were at a premium, Barzagli was a standout. Having limped off against Frosinone a week ago, Giorgio Chiellini could only look on. He was the second defensive casualty in as many matches, following Martin Caceres’ season-ending Achilles injury. Massimiliano Allegri’s defensive stocks were down to a bare minimum and it gave the boss something to ponder in the build-up - Juventus opted for a four-man defence. “We had to go back to playing four at the back tonight,” Allegri said afterwards, “and it’s a good sign, as it means we can play with this system and have guarantees.” Midweek reports suggested the boss was unsure about including Daniele Rugani in a match of such magnitude given his limited appearances. Asked about the 20-year-old in the pre-match Press conference, Allegri reminded his task is to nurture the young-gun. “He developed a lot in the last two months and his increased playing time is evidence of that, but this is not a reason to heighten the pressure on him.” Any reservations had to be thrown out the window shortly after the interval as Leonardo Bonucci succumbed to first-half collision with teammate Sami Khedira. But before he did, Bonucci provided one of the match’s central moments. Set to celebrate his 25th goal of the season, Higuain was left stunned by Bonucci’s toe-poked intervention. One which evoked memories of Stefano Sturaro in the same penalty area against Real Madrid last season. With Bonucci then sidelined it was up to Barzagli to marshal the defence. Juventus have conceded just 15 goals this season, including only one in seven prior matches in 2016. Despite the reshuffling they did not look like conceding in the second half. Credit must go to Barzagli, who led the way with three interceptions and a match-high seven clearances – stats courtesy of WhoScored.com. He was instrumental in keeping Higuain at bay for what was the Argentine’s quietest outing this season. Barzagli also guided Rugani through his 40 minute spell and the youngster responded by not putting a foot wrong. Buffon played his part too, a point-blank first half save from Raul Albiol another notch in his incredible belt. The captain extended his clean sheet streak to six matches, having last conceded to Sampdoria’s Antonio Cassano on 10 January. It proved a miserly and masterful defensive display from the Bianconeri. Allegri praised his defence for giving very little away to a side which had netted 53 times this term and kept scoreless only twice. He then specifically mentioned the central three: “Rugani did very well coming off the bench in a difficult situation. Barzagli had an extraordinary match, as did Bonucci until he got that knock.” Yet with Bayern Munich around the corner the defensive injuries will be of concern. It is worth noting Pep Guardiola has his own defensive headaches heading into the first leg, where both sides will not be at full strength. Allegri may rest Bonucci against Bologna, although Chiellini should be available to meet the Rossoblu. Those fears aside, it was a pleasing defensive performance from the Bianconeri. The versatility shown is a big plus for Allegri. The players responded to the challenge posed by Napoli and limited their threats. It was led by Barzagli – a player never flashy, but immeasurably valuable to the Old Lady. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The former Italy CT also revealed that he was ‘annoyed’ with Andrea Barzagli after his move to Wolfsburg in 2008, refusing to call him up as a result. “The dependability of the old players with the new was fundamental,” Lippi said to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport. “To lose Pirlo, Tevez and Vidal isn’t easy. Moving from Pirlo to Lemina is another thing entirely. “The younger ones don’t have the ability to overcome these difficulties, while you need Buffon, Chiellini and Barzagli to point the boat back in the right direction. “Barzagli made me angry by going to Wolfsburg in the summer transfer market. It annoyed me and for a while I didn’t call him anymore. Then he understood that Italy is his normal habitat, coming back to be one of the world’s best defenders. “The Champions League certainly takes energy away from the league but, compared to when the draw was made, now things have changed. “I’m sure that in Germany they’ve changed their thoughts about Juve and at Bayern their self-esteem has diminished. “The Juventus players know they mustn’t made calculations, now that they’re back on top of the table they will look to also get back to their best in Europe.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 15, 2016Juventus made it 15 straight league victories on Saturday evening in a thrilling 1-0 win at home to Napoli, in Serie A’s big top of the table clash. The win propels Massimiliano Allegri’s men into first place for the first time this season, though as important as the result was, the game itself provided a great insight into the teams and their potential as they focus their sights on the long run home.So here’s five things that we learned from the match.Napoli can go up against the bestDespite succumbing to defeat to the reigning Champions, Napoli showed the world that they have the quality, skill and most importantly the confidence to take on the very best. The Partenopei came within inches of taking the lead on numerous occasions, as they outplayed Juventus for much of the game, showing no signs of sitting back. The result could have quite easily gone the other way on another day, something the Napoli fans acknowledged and showed their appreciation for as 3,000 fans turned up to greet the team upon their arrival home.Gonzalo Higuain can be stoppedSaturday night’s fixture answered the question on everyone’s mind and proved that Gonzalo Higuain can in fact be brought to a halt. The leading Serie A goal-scorer was denied from netting in the league for the first time in seven games, as he was kept at bay by the Bianconeri’s tight defence, who ensured the Argentine stayed quiet and relatively isolated for much of the match. The striker has averaged 5.4 shots per game in Serie A this season, 3.5 of which from within the penalty area. However, Higuain managed just one shot on Saturday, a credit to the Old Lady’s back four.Juventus have great depth in attackPaulo Dybala and Paul Pogba have already shown their ability to produce crucial match-winning goals thus far, just as the likes of Carlos Tevez and Alessandro Del Piero had done before them, and now Simone Zaza can be added to that list of names. With the score locked at 0-0 and first place on the line, an 88th minute strike from Zaza showed the world the club’s latest match-winner.The 24-year-old was tipped to leave the Bianconeri during the winter transfer window, though proved his worth as he entered the arena as a substitute before clinching the game with his left foot.Having now bagged his fourth goal in 11 Serie A performances, eight of which have come from the bench, Zaza is proving to be a real asset for Juve and undoubtedly adds to their depth up-front, providing yet another worrying sign for the rest of the league.Pogba’s control can amazeNamed as part of FIFA’s 2015 World XI, Paul Pogba’s quality is undeniable. The Frenchman continues to amaze on the ball and caught fans’ eyes at the weekend, despite failing to register his name on the score-sheet.Juve’s number 10 produced a number of flashy plays for the highlight reels and at one point controlled the ball mid-air, bringing it down and delivering in one swift movement.None better than when he picked out a superb pass for Dybala after having brought the ball down with his chest, only for the striker to shoot agonisingly wide.A class performance from the midfielder, who finds a new way to entertain every week.Even the smallest things can amaze. The race for the Scudetto isn’t over yetSaturday’s victory saw Juventus claim top spot in Serie A for the first time this season, though despite their recent absence from the top, it looks an all too familiar sight.First place has changed hands several times this season and with Napoli just one-point behind, it’s clear that the race for the title is far from over.Maurizio Sarri’s squad will certainly back themselves against anyone else in the league following their impressive performance and will fancy their chances of usurping Juve to reach the top once more before the end of the season.Given the Bianconeri face a heavy schedule with upcoming fixtures in both the Champions League and Coppa Italia, a slip up may be on the cards, with the Neapolitans ready to pounce. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 15, 2016 Dino Zoff says “Napoli didn’t play with their usual ruthlessness” against Juventus on Saturday. The Partenopei went down 1-0 in Turin, a result which saw the Bianconeri overtake them at the Serie A summit, and the former goalkeeper believes the pressure got to Maurizio Sarri’s team. “Juve were good, while Napoli didn’t play with their usual ruthlessness,” Zoff explained on Radio Onda Libera. “I don’t think Sarri made a mistake in the match, probably Napoli suffered with the responsibility, I saw they were a little bit contracted and struggled to express themselves as before. “A point between the two isn’t much of a difference, but Juve are more used to playing to win. “One incident decided the match, but Napoli didn’t play with their usual ruthlessness. Juve seemed happy with even a draw and at the end they managed to find the right way to unlock it.” The former Juventus ‘keeper then discussed their chances in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. “They can do it if they play as they did last year. They’re facing one of the strongest teams in Europe, but Bayern have problems in defence. “For me, the Bianconeri have a good chance. “Roma against Real Madrid? Spalletti knows his stuff and has already beaten Real. The Giallorossi have improved, even if their facing a team of the highest level.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 15, 2016 Reigning Scudetto holders Juventus‘ exceptional run of form continued in round 25, as they saw off Napoli to leapfrog the Partenopei and take top spot in Serie A for the first time this season. Maurizio Sarri delivered on his word as the visitors took the game to Massimiliano Allegri’s side, in a game that saw them impose their own style of play on their hosts, making life extremely difficult for the Old Lady. As the game neared its conclusion, however, substitute Simone Zaza took centre stage and unleashes a powerful left-footed drive from range, which deflected slightly and looped above the hapless Pepe Reina to steal the points for Juve. Leonardo Bonucci can take an enormous amount of credit for his contribution to the win, as he denied what would have been a certain goal for Gonzalo Higuain to put the Azzurri ahead with a crucial interception at full-stretch. In the battle for the final Champions League place, Fiorentina solidified their position in third as they came from behind to seal a late winner against Inter. Marcelo Brozovic had put Roberto Mancini’s men ahead in the first half, only for Borja Valero to level the scores on the hour mark. As the game ticked into the dying moments, Khouma Babacar stole the points for La Viola, before Mauro Zarate and Geoffrey Kondogbia were both shown red cards. Roma‘s resurgence under Luciano Spalletti went on as they left it late to win away at Carpi. Lucas Digna put the Giallorossi ahead in the second half, only to have Kevin Lasagna draw the Biancorossi level within minutes. Edin Dzeko scored just his fourth goal of the campaign to restore the visitors’ lead in the 84th minute, with Mohamed Salah rounding off the scoring a minute later. The win sees Roma climb above Inter and into fourth place in the table, leaving them just two points off Fiorentina in their chase of Champions League qualification. Fellow European hopefuls, AC Milan, kept their dreams of returning to continental football alive with a 2-1 win over struggling Genoa. The ice-cold finisher Carlos Bacca opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock. Keisuke Honda added to his recent run of form by doubling the Rossoneri’s lead after the hour mark. Alessio Cerci scored what proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal for the Grifone in the game’s dying moments, on his return to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Lazio put five past Hellas Verona in the round’s first fixture, sealing a 5-2 win, taking them into seventh-place. Alessandro Matri, Stefano Mauri and Felipe Anderson gave the hosts a comfortable 3-0 lead, before Leandro Greco and Luca Toni both scored within seven minutes to give the Biancocelesti some cause for concern going into the last ten minutes of action. Keita Balde ensured their blushes were to be spared as he restored the two-goal margin, with Antonio Candreva clinching the points with a 90th-minute penalty. Sassuolo‘s disappointing start to 2016 worsened with a 1-1 draw away to Chievo. Valter Birsa put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot, only to have his goal immediately forgotten as Nicola Sansone thumped a spectacular strike beyond Albano Bizzarri to level the scores just a minute later. Frosinone bagged their second win in three matches, largely thanks to Daniel Ciofani who netted twice in a 2-1 defeat of Empoli. Riccardo Saponara was the standout performer and the former Milan man assisted Massimo Maccarone, however, their efforts could not save the Azzurri from avoiding defeat. The romance of Ciro Immobile’s fairytale return to Torino continued on Valentine’s Day as he scored two of Il Toro’s three goals in their 3-1 away win over Palermo. Immobile’s first cancelled out Alberto Gilardino’s early opener. His two goals came either side of a Giancarlo Gonzalez own-goal, firing Giampiero Ventura’s side to all three points. Roberto Donadoni’s Bologna earned yet another win, with Mattia Destro once again finding the net in their 1-0 win at Udinese. The Rossublu currently sit 10th in the table, having been in the relegation zone when Donadoni took charge. Sampdoria failed to match Frosinone’s win earlier in the round as they and Atalanta played out a scoreless draw at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. La Dea have now scored just four times since returning from the Christmas break and selling Maxi Moralez, leaving more question marks over their willingness to let German Denis leave for Independiente. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 16, 2016 Coach Roberto Donadoni claims 'revenue won't be playing' on the pitch when Bologna face Juventus. The Felsinei took down Udinese last Sunday by 1-0, and will be looking to walk home with at least a point against the other Bianconeri on Friday evening. “If Juventus managed what they did in the last few years and are in their current position in the league, then it means they have some weapons others don't have,” Donadoni told La Stampa. “But my Bologna has a chance. On Friday it won't be revenue taking to the pitch. Our own comeback is the result of hard work.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
Socrates 8974 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 136827 messaggi Inviato February 18, 2016 Same old brand new Juve Juventus beat Napoli in a dramatic encounter, Inter continue to fall and it’s all smiles in Rome writes Richard Hall. http://www.football-italia.net/79942/same-old-brand-new-juve? Feb 16, 2016 Napoli had won eight out of eight plus Gonzalo Higuain had scored 24 goals in 24 games. These were the impressive stats held by the away team as they travelled to Turin. They were also two points ahead in the race for the Scudetto. Juventus in turn had won 14 games in a row and were looking more and more like the Champions they had been last season. There may be new faces in Turin this year but the mentality is the same, as the Old Lady goes about her business with a determination that is synonymous with the club. The match reached a dramatic climax as with minutes to go Simone Zaza’s deflected effort broke Neapolitan hearts, the question now is, has it derailed their title challenge? One team that had been challenging for the Scudetto not that long ago were Inter. They travelled to Florence to face a Viola side that had thrashed them 1-4 at San Siro back in September. Thoughts of this happening again were dashed when Marcelo Brozovic converted for Mancini’s men early on and it seemed like they may see the game out. It was a tempestuous affair, that saw three red cards, and in the chaos Fiorentina equalised through Borja Valero. The game looked to be heading for a draw. However, in the final minutes Mauro Zarate’s shot was spilled by Samir Handanovic and Khouma Babacar was on hand to finish off. It was tough on Inter who now slip to fifth. Rome was a happier place this weekend as by Friday night both Lazio and Roma had won comfortably. Lazio’s game against Verona was played on Thursday night due to the Six Nations rugby match between Italy and England being held on the weekend, and the fixture was and entertaining one. The game ended 5-2 to the home side in a game that produced seven different goal scorers, the home side will be happy Felipe Anderson is back scoring whilst Luca Toni finding the net will be a welcome sign for Hellas. Roma won away at Carpi 1-3, although they left it late. Kevin Lasagna had equalised for the home side and the minutes were ticking down but late strikes from Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah gave the Giallorossi all three points. All of Milan was talking about Keisuke Honda this weekend as he scored one and created one in an outstanding display against a resolute Genoa side. The Grifone did manage to pull one back in stoppage time, Alessio Cerci struck silencing the boos he had been enduring every time he touched the ball. Genoa’s neighbours Sampdoria were in action up the road in Bergamo. They faced an Atalanta side who looked as lost and desolate as themselves. The 0-0 draw was the result of a poor game that will help neither of them in their plight. Torino had Ciro Immobile to thank for their 1-3 win away in Sicily. Palermo are a club in crisis and the defeat will come as a concern to those who frequent the Stadio Renzo Barbera as they are only four points off the drop. This mainly is down to Frosinone who are making a fist of things at the bottom. They beat Empoli in Tuscany by 1-2 and had Daniel Ciofani’s brace to thank for it. They recorded their first ever away win in Serie A and will be looking up at Sampdoria, Genoa and Palermo. Finally, Chievo faced Sassuolo in an entertaining game at the Stadio Bentegodi. On 29 minutes the hosts were awarded a penalty which Valter Birsa duly converted. As the Chievo continued to celebrate Sassuolo kicked off and caught them unaware. Nicola Sansone picked up the ball and unleashed a powerful curler into the top corner to level the game. There would be no more goals but it was an entertaining affair. Roberto Donadoni continues to impress with his Bologna side this season as they moved up to tenth in the table after beating Udinese at the Stadio Friuli. Mattia Destro was once again the hero has his goal eleven minutes from time meant that the away side picked up their first win in Udine in over eleven years. The Rossoblu have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch at times this season. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 16, 2016 Carlo Ancelotti believes Juventus-Bayern Munich will be a 'balanced' game, while Roma 'improved their odds' against Real Madrid. The Old Lady play against the Germans next week, on February 23, while the Lupi will be up against the Merengues Tuesday evening at 19:45. The veteran Coach is currently a free agent, and he will be following with interest the path of the two Italian teams left in the Champions League, both drawn against titans of European football. “Juve-Bayern is a very balanced game,” Ancelotti said, in an interview with Goal.com. “The Bianconeri are doing very well in Serie A, but Bayern are Bayern and they are absolutely focused on the Champions League. The match in Munich will be decisive. “As for the Giallorossi, it's never easy to play Real Madrid, but they certainly have better odds now than they did one month ago.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Feb 16, 2016 Huge amounts of pressure have been placed upon Juventus and Roma, with both sides flying the flag for Serie A and Italian football in the Champions League. So what can you expect from these two sides in their upcoming fixtures? We’ve put together a list of five things you can expect to see throughout the duration of their time in the competition.Juventus to knuckle down and show a lot of gritWith star man Giorgio Chiellini set to miss out on at least the first leg against Bayern Munich, Juventus are going to shift a lot at the back, presumably to a four man defence, and put a lot of emphasis on keeping a clean sheet.A fine defensive performance against Napoli in a 1-0 win at the weekend served to show just how impressive their back line has been this season, and against a rampant Bayern Munich attack it’s unlikely that they’re going to ease up any time soon.Expect a performance along the lines of that which we saw over the two legs in last year’s quarter-final against AS Monaco, compact and ready to hit out on the counter.Paulo Dybala to steal the showWhat better a time than now for Paulo Dybala to show the rest of Europe what he’s truly worth. The Argentine has been nothing less than phenomenal this season for Juventus, spearheading their return to the top of the league, despite having been a substitute for the first few weeks of the season. Now he’s got the chance to display that talent on the big stage and there’s hardly a doubt on whether he’ll be able to prove himself or not.A crippling amount of expectation was placed on his shoulders at the start of the campaign after the departure of compatriot Carlos Tevez, though that hasn’t seemed to have phased Dybala one bit as he has danced through defences and stunned crowds all across the peninsula this season. There’s unexplored land for him to conquer, and judging by his performances thus far, he’s certainly not going to shy away from the opportunity.Mad Max to then top his performanceIf there is one thing you can be absolutely certain of, it’s Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri lighting up the touchline. The Italian tactician is no stranger to making himself heard and with a chance to make a push for the final for the second year running, expect Allegri to be in full voice and considerably animated as he commands his team from the side of the pitch.Who knows, we might see this again.
