The Golden Boy is an annual award handed out by Italian outlet Tuttosport to the best young player based in Europe under the age of 21.

Juventus’s Kenan Yildiz is on the 2025 shortlist, while Italy talents Francesco Pio Esposito (of Inter) and Giovanni Leoni (of Liverpool) have been included as wildcard picks. ............

20 players on the shortlist have been included based on Tuttosport and Football Benchmark’s algorithm, while another five ‘wildcards’ are selected. ............

Among those who qualified through the Football Benchmark Index are PSG’s Desire Doue, Warren Zaire-Emery and Senny Mayulu, Real Madrid trio Arda Guler, Franco Mastantuono and Dean Huijsen, Estevao of Chelsea and Pau Cubarsi from Barcelona.

The Golden Boy award can not be won by the same player more than once, which means that last year’s winner, Lamine Yamal, cannot take home the trophy for a second time, despite still being under the age limit (21).

Previous winners of the Golden Boy award include Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham. ............

Premier League club offers Kenan Yildiz €10 million-a-year to leave Juventus

Juventus' Kenan Yildiz Continues Rapid Rise With Champions League Brilliance - Foot Africa

Juventus face a delicate challenge as they seek to secure Kenan Yildiz on a new contract, balancing the desire to retain one of their brightest talents with the need to maintain a sustainable wage structure. In recent seasons, the men in black and white have capped salaries at approximately five million euros net per season, a policy aimed at ensuring financial stability while managing the squad’s overall payroll. This strategy has also influenced decisions regarding other key players, including Dusan Vlahovic, whose twelve million euros net per season contract was allowed to run down to comply with Juventus’ salary structure. ............

Chelsea have made a strong approach, indicating to Yildiz’s entourage that they would be willing to offer him ten million euros per season should he choose to move to London. This proposition represents a sizeable financial incentive and is certainly attractive enough to tempt the young midfielder, creating a competitive environment in which Juventus must act carefully to secure his commitment. ............

From Yildiz’s viewpoint, the decision is complex. A move to a club like Chelsea would offer a substantially higher salary and the chance to compete in a different league, but remaining at Juventus provides continuity, familiarity, and the opportunity to develop within a team where he is highly valued. His entourage is carefully studying the offers, weighing financial considerations against sporting ambitions and long-term career prospects. ............

Fabio Capello is excited to watch Nico Paz and Kenan Yildiz in action during Como-Juventus on Sunday, but even if he believes the Bianconeri star has a ‘greater ability to use both feet’, the Argentine seems destined to return to Real Madrid. ............

“Both have great technique; perhaps the Juventus player has a greater ability to use both feet compared to the Argentine, who mainly relies on his excellent left foot,” Capello said.

“Compared to him, the Turk has more dribbling ability; he’s dangerous in one-on-one situations and has excellent vision and finishing skills. He sees both the play and the goal well, and performs better as a winger who can cut inside towards the centre of the pitch.”

Nico Paz, on the other hand, probably offers the best version of himself when deployed as an attacking midfielder.

“He seems to express himself better in a more central role, although he also has great vision and shooting ability,” argued Capello.

“He’s a more straightforward player compared to Yildiz and perhaps more effective. Both, however, are players with great potential. For example, Real Madrid certainly won’t let Nico Paz get away.” ............

“Nico Paz, moreover, seems to enjoy himself a bit too much, something that Yildiz, playing for Juve, is not allowed to do. The Argentine, at Como, is the best of them all; everyone talks about him, so he tends to like himself a bit too much, even if unintentionally.” ............

Kenan Yildiz remains a topic of hot discussion in Juventus circles, but discussions and negotiations over a new and improved contract extension shouldn’t be allowed to drag on and become a long-term saga, writes Alfredo Pedullà. ............

As things stand, there is a small difference between Yildiz’s requests and the amount that Juventus are currently offering to pay the Turkish talent on a proposed new deal. ............

But this doesn’t make much sense: What does a gap of around €700,000 or even €1m mean to a club of Juventus’s stature when we’re talking about a player who has already shown his talent and his commitment and importance to the club? What’s more is that Yildiz has made it clear he is keen to stay on in Turin.

There had been rumours circling in January, with agent Jorge Mendes claiming that there had been nine-figure offers for the Juve star the summer prior, pointing to an inquiry from Premier League side Chelsea. ............

Juventus star Kenan Yildiz is excited to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, but plays down comparisons with Alessandro Del Piero: ‘I want to build my own history.’ ............

It will be the first time for Yildiz at the Bernabeu and the Turkish starlet can’t wait for the game to begin.

“Every kid dreams of playing in that stadium,” Yildiz told UEFA.

“I think it’s one of the best in the world, and being able to play there now is a dream come true. Facing a club like that in the Champions League is simply amazing. I hope everything goes well, and I hope to play a great match.” ............

“At first, I thought: ‘Oh my God, will I be able to handle the No.10?’ But after that, I didn’t give it too much importance,” Yildiz said.

“I simply wanted that number to shine and have fun. To be honest, the number doesn’t play. I do. So, I always to to give everything to show what I’m capable of. I hope things have gone well so far, so I want to keep going like this.

“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s every kid’s dream, and now I wear this shirt in a club like this. I always say I don’t like comparisons between me and him [Del Piero] because he’s a legend,” continued the Juventus star.

“His career is over; mine has just started. I want to build my own history. He’s someone I’ve always admired, and I am proud to wear his number at this club.” ............

The opportunity to face off against the best players in the world, however, does excite the young Juventus star.

“Absolutely yes. It excites me because as I kid I dreamed of being there and now my name is among those of the main players. So yes, it’s a great source of pride and an incredible emotion,” he concluded.

Agent reveals Real Madrid’s interest in Juventus star: “Alonso would sacrifice anyone for him”

200423965-8957b035-ae3a-4bec-acaf-0c28c9e68c67.jpg

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is reportedly a staunch admirer of Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, and he’ll be aiming to lure him to the Spanish capital. ............

While the Turkish star wasn’t able to inflict damage in the final third as usual, he remains out of the most sought-after players on the globe. The 20-year-old has been recurrently linked with some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, in addition to Barcelona. ............

But according to famous football agent Giovanni Branchini, Yildiz is also wanted at Real Madrid, as Alonso would be willing to sacrifice almost anyone to make room for him in his squad.

“Xabi is willing to let anyone go to get him, except Kylian Mbappé,” said the transfer market expert in his interview.

“Juventus are currently asking for €100 million, but in the end, it will depend on the market.

“Of course, there’s also the Nico Williams case, as everyone wants him, and he renewed his contract at Athletic. But Yildiz was a clear request from the owners; they really like him.”

The 20-year-old is tied to Juventus with a contract valid until 2029, but the club is desperately trying to armor him with a new and improved deal to ward away all suitors. ............

Dino Zoff explains why giving Kenan Yildiz the Juventus armband is a mistake

Juventus, Yildiz: "Capitano? E' fantastico ma dico una cosa"

Kenan Yildiz has recently been appointed vice-captain of Juventus, a role that appears to be challenging for the young Turkiye international. The midfielder captained the team in their recent Champions League clash against Real Madrid, as Manuel Locatelli did not start, but some observers believe the responsibility may have come too soon for him. ............

Dino Zoff, reflecting on Yildiz’s situation, expressed his view that assigning the captain’s armband to such a young player was a misjudgement. He said: “I don’t understand this at all. Why did they give him the captain’s armband? For me, it’s a mistake to give the captain’s armband to such a young player, burdening him with excessive responsibility and pressure. Moreover, there are certainly more experienced players in the squad who can fill the role without weighing down Yildiz’s development.” ............

Zoff highlighted that Yildiz performs with much more freedom and effectiveness when representing Turkiye, where he is not tasked with leadership responsibilities. His international form has been consistently impressive, suggesting that the pressure of captaincy at Juventus may be limiting his ability to express himself fully on the pitch. ............

Italy legend explains which position should Yildiz occupy under Spalletti

Kenan Yildiz scores twice in Juventus' 4-1 victory in Club World Cup against Wydad

Former Italy striker Francesco Graziani analyses how Kenan Yildiz would fit into the plans of new Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti.

The former Roma and Napoli boss was appointed on Thursday, just three days following the sacking of Igor Tudor, who failed to win any of his last eight matches in charge. ............

Spalletti adopted a hybrid 3-4-1-2 formation that included some surprises, especially with Teun Koopmeiners starting at the back.

Moreover, Weston McKennie operated as an attacking midfielder behind Loic Openda and Dusan Vlahovic, while Manuel Locatelli and Khephren operated in the double pivot. ............

“To be at the top, Juventus are missing a couple of quality midfielders,” said the 1982 World Cup winner in his interview.

“McKennie is fighting but not creating. Thuram and Locatelli did well. The latter is one of the most criticised players, and yet, he remains a key component. Cremonese pushed forward in the second half, forcing Juve back into their own half.

“Atalanta’s Koopmeiners was a different player compared to the current version. Now we need to have faith in the players in the squad, trying to get them to perform at their best. And that’s Spalletti’s job.” ............

The Turkish forward was rested as a precautionary measure, as he’s been dealing with a slight discomfort in his knee.

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old will certainly command a starting role under Spalletti, and Graziani sees him playing behind the two strikers.

“Yildiz can be the perfect attacking midfielder for Spalletti’s 4-3-1-2.” ............

Monday’s reports indicate that Kenan Yildiz should be available for selection in time for Juventus’s Champions League test against Sporting CP on Tuesday evening, having missed out on Luciano Spalletti’s first match in charge over the weekend.

Yildiz was not included in the matchday squad for Spalletti’s Juventus debut, which ended in a 2-1 win away against Cremonese in Serie A over the weekend.

The Bianconeri no.10 has been struggling with patellar tendinopathy in his left knee, a recurring issue. ............

He should be available for selection, and potentially to start, for Juventus when they take on Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

He could potentially come straight back into the team alongside Dusan Vlahovic in attack, which would be at the expense of summer signing Lois Openda. ............

Luciano Spalletti has compared Juventus star Kenan Yildiz to his former Napoli colleague Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and former Italy international Antonio Di Natale, who the coach feels is one of the most underrated stars that he has worked with so far. ............

Spalletti, speaking in his pre-match press conference on Monday evening confirmed that Yildiz ‘is available’, before going on to compare him to some of the other top-class talents he has had the pleasure of working with previously. ............

“He’s available. I’m lucky because I’ve had some great players,” Spalletti told the press.

“Kvara had those characteristics. One who had less of a spotlight, but still had incredible talent was Toto Di Natale. Yildiz is one of those who will be on everyone’s Instagram feeds at the end of the season.” ............
