Opinion: The weak spots in the Juventus team ahead of next season

Juve, Comolli e Chiellini votano Tudor: come cambia lo scenario

The summer transfer window presents a vital opportunity for football clubs to reinforce their squads and rectify any visible shortcomings. For Juventus, this period is especially important as they prepare for a fresh campaign under the guidance of manager Igor Tudor. The Bianconeri are aiming to re-establish themselves as serious contenders both domestically and in Europe, and significant business is expected during the current window. ............

One of the most glaring deficiencies in the Juventus squad is the absence of a consistent creative presence in midfield. Despite boasting technically gifted players, the side struggled to generate sufficient attacking chances last season. Kenan Yildiz, Francisco Conceição and Samuel Mbangula each provided five assists, making them the club’s joint top creators. Teun Koopmeiners contributed four assists, the same tally as Weston McKennie and Khephren Thuram. ............

While the signing of Jonathan David represents a step in the right direction, it only partially resolves the situation in attack. Juventus must now determine the future of existing strikers such as Dušan Vlahović, Arkadiusz Milik and Randal Kolo Muani. Without a clear and stable attacking hierarchy, the team risks facing similar scoring challenges to those encountered last term. ............

Not just Bremer – Another five Juventus stars return early from summer vacation

Gleison Bremer in action for Juventus

Although the pre-season will officially kick off on Thursday, six Juventus players have already reported to Continassa.

The Bianconeri’s off-season was shortened by their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. ............

As reported earlier this week, Bremer made an early appearance in Turin, returning from his vacation prematurely as he’s hellbent on regaining his optimal physical condition after more than nine months on the sidelines. ............

The 28-year-old has been making important leaps in his recovery path, and he’s looking to take part in the first summer friendly against Reggiana next week. Hence, he insisted on making a swift return to Continassa and working on a personalised program before rejoining group training when the camp begins.

But Bremer wasn’t the only Juventus player to report early to training, as Lloyd Kelly, Juan Cabal, Mattia Perin, Fabio Miretti, and Nicolò Savona have also returned to the club’s facility. ............

Cabal suffered a similar injury to Bremer last November while on international duty, so he still has some work to do before returning to the field.

As for Perin, he missed the Club World Cup as he had to undergo surgery to repair the damage in his hand. The same goes for Miretti who’s healing from a shoulder operation after hurting himself during his loan stint at Genoa.

Moreover, Kelly and Savona picked up knocks during the tournament, and could be out action for the next few weeks.

Opinion: Why Juventus is heading for another mediocre season

Igor Tudor giving instructions

Juventus eventually secured a top-four finish in Serie A last season, but expectations from their supporters are far higher going into the new campaign. The Bianconeri showed promise towards the end of the previous term and delivered several strong performances at the Club World Cup, highlighting their potential to compete at a higher level. ............

Much of the summer has been spent addressing unresolved issues, notably around the managerial situation and the uncertain future of Dusan Vlahovic. These distractions have taken attention away from strengthening the squad and refining preparations on the training ground.

Additionally, several other players face uncertain futures, further complicating Juventus’ plans and limiting their ability to focus on pre-season improvements. ............

Another factor potentially working against them is their delayed return to pre-season training. In a period where physical conditioning and tactical preparation are vital, starting later than their competitors could place them at a disadvantage when the campaign begins. ............

Although the club will do everything possible to ensure they are ready for the season ahead, there is a growing sense that their preparation has not matched the ambition of their rivals. Without significant improvements, Juventus may find it difficult to replicate or exceed last season’s top-four finish.

Clubs around them have not only strengthened more decisively in the transfer window but may also benefit from earlier and more structured pre-season schedules. ............

Reggiana holds Juventus to a draw in Bianconeri’s first pre-season game

1-1 tra Juve e Reggiana nel primo tempo, i tifosi criticano duramente 5 bianconeri dopo i primi 45' — Tribuna.com

With their rivals already well into pre-season preparations, Juventus fans were eager to assess their team’s readiness ahead of the new campaign. Having rested for several weeks due to their participation in the Club World Cup, the Bianconeri returned to action with limited time remaining before the season begins. Reggiana, a Serie B side, were chosen as their first opponents in what was expected to be a useful test of fitness and form. ............

Juventus showed signs of rustiness, a likely consequence of their extended break. Reggiana capitalised on this, with Natan Girma opening the scoring in the 22nd minute. It was not the start Juventus had envisioned, but they responded quickly through Francisco Conceição, who finished a move assisted by Jonathan David. ............

Dusan Vlahović found the net shortly after the restart to give Juventus a 2–1 lead. At that point, it seemed the Bianconeri might take control of the match. However, Reggiana refused to allow the game to slip away and continued to press forward with intent.

Their persistence paid off late in the match when Cedric Gondo struck to bring the scores level once again, catching Juventus off guard and denying them a comfortable start to pre-season. ............

The match concluded in a 2–2 draw, offering mixed signals about the team’s current form. While there were encouraging signs in attack, the game also highlighted the need for improved defensive organisation and match rhythm. ............

No need to panic – Reggiana draw will not define Juventus’ season

Amichevole | Juventus-Reggiana | La partita - Juventus

Juventus and Reggiana played out a 2–2 draw in what marked the Bianconeri’s first pre-season fixture of the summer. The match served as the initial step in Juventus’ preparations for the upcoming campaign, with further fixtures expected before the new season officially begins. ............

The current Juventus squad carries several uncertainties, with no clear distinction yet made between those who are part of the club’s future plans and those likely to depart. Nonetheless, head coach Igor Tudor utilised this friendly to assess the available options, rather than chase a definitive result.

AC Reggiana entered the match having already played a pre-season fixture and approached the encounter with intent. Despite their sharpness, they were unable to defeat Juventus, who showed character in securing a 2–2 result. While the draw may not reflect the ambitions of a club of Juventus’ stature, it offered valuable insight into the early stages of their preparation. ............

The outcome of the match should not be viewed as a barometer for the season ahead. While supporters may be eager to analyse the result, it is important to recognise that the pre-season is a period dedicated to experimentation, conditioning and tactical fine-tuning. ............

“Some players” Tudor reacts to Juventus draw against Reggiana

Juve-Reggiana, le pagelle dell'amichevole | Gazzetta.it

Igor Tudor has shared his thoughts following Juventus’ 2-2 draw against Reggiana in their pre-season friendly earlier today. The fixture marked the Bianconeri’s return to action as they prepare for the new campaign, with the players aiming to regain match sharpness after their summer break.

The Bianconeri have only recently resumed pre-season training, while Reggiana had already begun their preparations and played a prior fixture. ............

The manager approached the match with a clear plan to rotate the squad, fielding two different teams in each half. This strategy allowed him to assess a broader range of players and gauge their fitness levels individually. ............

“Today was a good test for us. The intensity of the training we did this week was noticeable, and as a result, there was obviously a lot of fatigue. Physically—as is normal at this time—some players are a little ahead and some are a little behind: today was a very useful workout. I’m happy for Gleison’s return; it will certainly take some time and he’ll need to play some matches to get back to his level. I’m satisfied with these first few days of training.” ............

While the draw may not reflect the club’s ambitions for the season ahead, it served its purpose as a preparatory fixture. Juventus supporters will be hopeful that the squad continues to make steady progress and delivers stronger performances in the upcoming matches.

Igor Tudor names unwanted players Juventus squad for Germany

Press Room | Comments after Juventus-Reggiana - Juventus

Juventus have made several players available for transfer as they no longer feature in the plans of their current manager. These individuals are expected to find new clubs before the season begins, given that they are not considered part of the project either in the short term or beyond. ............

The team is currently preparing for the upcoming campaign with a short training camp in Germany, and several players who are expected to depart have still been included in the travelling squad.

Tudor has taken the full senior squad on the trip, which includes players such as Arthur Melo and Douglas Luiz. Despite speculation surrounding their future, they remain involved in training and team activities. This contrasts with last season’s approach, when several players were effectively isolated from the first-team group ahead of expected transfers. ............

This summer, by keeping these players active within the squad and involved in preparations, Juventus may increase its chances of securing appropriate deals. The continued involvement of those expected to leave allows them to maintain match fitness and visibility, potentially leading to smoother transfers in the coming weeks.
