Fiorentina comeback to keep Juventus winless in three games

183616557-05f3bacb-86c9-4631-a7af-3fa5b7494559.jpg

Juventus and Fiorentina played out a 1-1 draw in Florence this evening, a result that will frustrate the Bianconeri as their struggles in front of goal continue. Juventus began with intent and immediately pushed forward, believing they had earned a penalty early on, only for the decision to be overturned following a VAR review. ............

Despite the opportunities created, Juventus once again failed to convert until first-half stoppage time. Filip Kostic reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box, guiding home the rebound to give his side a deserved lead. The goal sent Juventus into the interval in a strong position, aware that maintaining composure and momentum would be crucial after the break. ............

However, barely moments into the second half, Rolando Mandragora struck the equaliser, delivering the worst possible restart for the Bianconeri. The goal transformed Fiorentina’s confidence, energising the hosts and pushing Juventus onto the back foot. La Viola began attacking with greater numbers, while Juventus attempted to find space on the break, though their defensive discipline remained steady.

As the contest progressed, Juventus increased their pressure in search of a second goal, but Fiorentina remained resolute and continued to pose their own threat. Either side could have found a late winner, yet neither managed to produce the decisive moment. ............

Player Ratings: Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus – Viola and Old Lady lack attacking spark

Fiorentina vs. Juventus player ratings

Fiorentina: De Gea 6.5, Pongracic 6, Marí 4.5, Ranieri 6 (82′ Viti N/A); Dodò 5 (46′ Fortini 6), Mandragora 7, Fagioli 6, Sohm 5.5 (60′ Ndour 5.5), Parisi 6.5 (69′ Kouadio 6); Piccoli 5.5 (60′ Gudmundsson 6); Kean 6.5. Coach: Vanoli 6.

Best Fiorentina player: Mandragora 7 ............

Lowest Fiorentina ranking: Marì 4.5 ............

Fiorentina coach: Vanoli 6 ............

Juventus: Di Gregorio 6.5; Kalulu 6, Kelly 6, Koopmeiners 6; Cambiaso 5.5 (76′ Conceiçao 6), Locatelli 6.5, Thuram 6 (65′ Miretti 6), Kostic 6.5 (65′ Cabal 6); McKennie 5.5, Yildiz 5.5 (87′ Openda N/A); Vlahovic 5.5 (87′ David N/A). Coach: Spalletti 5.5.

Best Juventus player: Kostic 6.5 – Scored his second goal this season with a shot from distance. Focused defensively, but Spalletti needed more pace down the left flank in the final part of the game, so he subbed him off.

Lowest Juventus ratings: A few players were not entirely up to the task. Dusan Vlahovic started strong, earned a penalty kick, then revoked, but then missed a huge chance all alone in front of De Gea. Cambiaso misplaced way too many passes, and McKennie and Yildiz lacked the spark in the final third.

Juventus coach: Spalletti 5.5 – Four games, one win, three draws. Juventus have shown little improvement in terms of performances and results. They keep conceding goals, and they struggle to score consistently. More work is needed, but time is already running out as direct rivals for the top four are flying.

Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus: Former Serie A Referee Gives Verdict on Vlahovic penalty decision

174317972-9188a86f-b45f-41c8-9d18-c0ff5e51c102.jpg

Former Serie A official Luca Marelli weighed in on the controversial incident involving Dušan Vlahović during Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw with Juventus, arguing that the final decision went beyond what VAR protocol allows.

In the opening minutes of the game, a penalty was initially awarded to the Bianconeri after a clever turn from Vlahović on Fiorentina defender Pablo Mari.

However, following an on-field VAR review, referee Daniele Doveri changed his mind. ............

“They’re grappling, both of them, but Vlahović has already moved past his marker. That makes it a judgement for the on-field referee,” he said, adding that a reassessment seemed unlikely at that stage.

Doveri was then called to the monitor and eventually awarded an attacking foul against Vlahović, effectively cancelling what Fiorentina thought might become a decisive penalty. ............

Marelli felt that outcome stretched the use of VAR too far. “Giving a free kick to Fiorentina looks like an overreach of the protocol. I don’t think Pablo Marí committed a foul, but claiming Vlahović did is also pushing it,” he said.

“Vlahović holds Pablo Marí, yes, but the Fiorentina defender does exactly the same to him. In situations like this you stick with the on-field decision. VAR clearly had doubts and handed the responsibility back to the referee.”

Kalulu: Juventus must ‘kill games’ earlier after Fiorentina draw – ‘For me, it was a penalty on Vlahovic’

kalulu-fiorentina

Pierre Kalulu admitted Juventus only had themselves to blame after letting Fiorentina back into the match on Saturday afternoon, insisting the team must become more ruthless when they take control of games. ............

“It was a difficult pitch and we made too many errors,” he reflected. “We tried until the end but it wasn’t enough. We know we have to improve, and we’re confident going into the next matches.”

Kalulu avoided comparing tactical demands between coaching staffs, joking that he didn’t want to “say something stupid,” but stressed that Juventus need a sharper instinct when leading.

“When we have an advantage over a team, we need to ‘kill’ the opponent more,” he explained. “We don’t always manage it, and that gives the other side hope. In Serie A you can’t afford those mistakes.” ............

“I need to watch it again, but for me Vlahović was pulled back,” he said. “For me, it was a penalty.”

Kalulu dismissed suggestions that Vlahović had lost his composure. He instead pointed to the hostile atmosphere inside the stadium. “No, he wasn’t nervous,” Kalulu insisted. “He reacted to the chants – that’s normal for any human being. They’re ugly gestures to see and hear.” ............

Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus – Spalletti defends Vlahovic & admits ‘we were too predictable’

FLORENCE, ITALY - NOVEMBER 22: Head coach Luciano Spalletti manager of Juventus FC looks on during the Serie A match between ACF Fiorentina and Juventus FC at Artemio Franchi on November 22, 2025 in Florence, Italy. (Photo by Gabriele Maltinti/Getty Images)

Luciano Spalletti did not hide his frustration after Juventus came away from Fiorentina with only a point, insisting his side must “raise the level” if they want to stay on track for their ambitions this season. ............

Spalletti admitted the performance fell short of what he expects from a team pushing to compete at the top end of Serie A.

“We were too predictable in the first half and made too many technical mistakes,” he said.

“Those are errors we simply can’t afford because our level has to be higher. It was a difficult match against a side eager to react. Vanoli gives energy and aggression to his players: we know him well. But we’ve been chosen to do more, and we absolutely need to raise the level.”

“As I’ve said, we must have the Scudetto fight as our ambition, that’s different from saying we’re already there. I believe we can give more than what we showed today. The silence in the dressing room tells me the players weren’t happy either, and I like that. Now we need to show a different level of football.” ............

“We found Yildiz too little. We kept the ball too often on the defensive perimeter, when we needed to skip a pass and play vertically. Yildiz was more central early on, then moved to the left, but we have to involve him more.” ............

Spalletti closed by condemning the hostile chants aimed at Vlahovic: “Dusan reacts in the right way, but socially we must stop going to the stadium to do things that have nothing to do with sport. The more this happens, the more we ruin the most beautiful game in the world.”

Fiorentina 1 - Juventus 1: Initial reaction and random observations

180758550-cf953895-6357-4296-9796-7cf2bec8e515.jpg

Well, at least Luciano Spalletti has found some continuity with his new squad.

The problem is that the continuity has involved the same kind of results that they guy he replaced was getting.

Saturday night in Florence provided Spalletti and Juventus the chance to start the post-international break run of games entering the new year with some momentum. Instead, what took place against last-place Fiorentina was the same kind of disappointing performance and result that we have seen all too often from this squad over the last couple of years. Rather than look like the better side and have the result speak to that fact, Juve struggled against a desperate yet also winless Fiorentina squad in a 1-1 draw at the Franchi that saw Spalletti drop points for the third straight outing after winning his debut on the first day of November. ............

This is not one of those performances under Spalletti that leaves you feeling at least somewhat optimistic about things because they were a bit unlucky. Not at all. They just weren’t very good at all against Fiorentina. Should they have kept the penalty Dusan Vlahovic rightfully earned in the first half? Yes, of course. Then again, Vlahovic should have also scored in his 1-on-1 with David de Gea that ended up with the Juve No. 9 blasting a shot into the side netting. Juve also probably should have been losing when Moise Kean blasted a shot off the crossbar in the first half, so maybe sometimes these things even out in some kind of weird way. ............

But, the problem is, they keep drawing against teams in which they shouldn’t. It was a problem under Thiago Motta, it was then a problem under Igor Tudor, now it’s becoming a problem under Spalletti.

This wasn’t like the Derby della Mole in which Fiorentina had their goalkeeper on a generational heater and de Gea was stopping everything that came his way with miraculous save after miraculous save. When it was all said and done, de Gea had to make all of — drum role, please! — three saves.

That’s it.

That is what Juve’s attack was capable of on Saturday night. For as good of a shot Filip Kostic unleashed on the goal right before halftime that put Juve up 1-0, there wasn’t much else that Spalletti’s squad did that had us thinking they were going to be capable of scoring more than that. Juventus outshot Fiorentina by a comfortable 17-11 margin, but so many of those shots were either blocked out just completely off target.

That’s where Spalletti has so much work to do — and one wonders just what he actually can do to improve it. ............

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS

  • At some point, Fiorentina supporters will stop hurling racist remarks toward Vlahovic. The problem is, I feel like that day will be when Vlahovic retires and never has to step foot in the Franchi again.
  • I mean, when your club captain is basically walking over to the curva and begging you to stop saying racist insults toward a player who hasn’t worn a Fiorentina jersey for nearly four years now, that’s not good — at all. This is happening every single time Vlahovic comes back to the Franchi.
  • It’s just gotta stop, man. I know it won’t because it keeps happening, but it’s gotta stop.
  • Again, I want to say this: VAR is idiotic for overturning that penalty Vlahovic earned. He made Pablo Mari looked absolutely stupid, Mari got caught trying to scramble and recover, and hauled Vlahovic down in the process. Was there contact from Vlahovic, too? Yeah, but come on … that’s a PK.
  • That being said, Dusan … just shoot the ball before the guy charging toward you on a breakaway actually makes contact with you. More dribbling just makes the angle tougher to finish.
  • One could say, though, that the highest paid player in Serie A should finish that regardless. And you know what? That’s fair! ............
  • Kenan Yildiz had 18 touches in the first half.
  • Kenan Yildiz finished with 41 touches against Fiorentina.
  • Both of those two numbers are just not good enough for a player like Yildiz who has become such an important part of the Juventus attack and general level of success.
  • Hey, if Kostic wants to do that more often, then that’s fine.
  • Seriously, though … that was one hell of a shot — and especially from distance. As I saw the replays of it, I kept thinking of how it was kinda like an outswinging corner kick with the movement on the ball. As much as de Gea made a dive for it, the ball was both moving away from him because Kostic hit it with his left foot but also destined for the far corner. Just well-hit ball that was perfectly placed.
  • Because Kostic played, here’s a mention of his crossing: 1-for-6. ............
  • Spalletti waiting until the 88th minute to bring on both Loïs Openda and Jonathan David sure was a choice. And I don’t know what the point of it was other than taking off a clearly exhausted Yildiz and Vlahovic. With stoppage time, they had six minutes max to try and do something to get the lead back — and that’s just not much time at all to even really get on the ball at all. ............
  • Good to see Fabio Miretti have a positive impact off the bench. Now if only we could see that continue into the future and he gets some more playing time. ............

Juventus player ratings vs Fiorentina: Kostic’s strike only worth one point

182556167-064a125e-e4d6-4d73-bd74-1c2a8860d509.jpg

After the November international break, Juventus picked up from where they left off, settling for another disappointing draw against one of their rivals. Filip Kostic silenced the purple crowds at the Artemio Franchi with a sublime effort from long range. However, Rolando Mandragora outdid him with an absolute screamer that earned the struggling Viola a valuable point. ............

Juventus XI (3-4-2-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 5.5

The goalkeeper didn’t have an awful lot to do in Florence, but was left stranded for the goal. He also had some nervy moments on the ball.

Pierre Kalulu – 6

 ............

Lloyd Kelly – 6

On his return from injury, the former Newcastle man was entrusted with the daunting task of man-marking Moise Kean. Although he inevitably had some scary moments, it could have been significantly worse.

Teun Koopmeiners – 5.5

 ............

Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5

 ............

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

The Juventus captain bailed his teammates at the back on a few occasions, and also produced some lovely through balls, including the one that prompted the revoked spot-kick.

Khephren Thuram – 5.5

 ............

Filip Kostic – 6.5

While it wasn’t a vintage display by any means, the winger took his shot brilliantly, giving Juventus a crucial lead, one they failed to protect.

Weston McKennie – 6

 ............

Kenan Yildiz – 5

Perhaps the Turkish youngster was lacking the required support, but it was one of his poorest displays in a Juventus shirt. Aside from one promising run in the second half, he produced little to nothing.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6

While this may look like a generous rating, it should be remembered that the Serbian was taken off his game by the shameful racial abuse he received from his former supporters. The striker should have done better after working himself into a one-on-one situation with De Gea. However, many would argue that he deserved a spot-kick for Pablo Mari’s challenge.

Substitutes

Fabio Miretti – 6

 ............

Juan Cabal – 5

 ............

Francisco Conceicao – 7

The Portuguese was easily Juve’s ultimate source of danger, but perhaps wasn’t granted enough time to change the outcome of the match.

Jonathan David – N/A

Lois Openda – N/A

Marelli says VAR breached the protocol on revoked Vlahovic penalty

Fiorentina-Juventus, moviola: rigore su Vlahovic, poi Doveri cambia idea. Una decisione che fa discutere. Tutti gli episodi del Franchi - Eurosport

Former Serie A referee Luca Marelli believes the VAR had no reason to intervene when the referee had awarded a spot-kick for Juventus against Fiorentina. ............

The contest thus ended in a 1-1 draw, but it also had its fair share of controversial incidents, and as expected, Dusan Vlahovic was at the very centre of it.

The Serbian bomber received a hostile reception from his former supporters, with a section of them hurling racial slurs in his direction, which prompted a warning from the referee.

The 25-year-old was eager to respond by piling more misery on the Viola, and he thought he had won a spot-kick in the 13th minute. ............

Vlahovic was about to skip past Pablo Mari following a clever backheel, but two men engaged in physical battle, and the Spaniard appeared to have dragged the striker to the ground.

While match official Daniele Doveri immediately pointed to the spot, he was then called by the VAR to review the incident, and eventually decided to overturn the decision and award the foul to Fiorentina. ............

“Doveri awarded the penalty on the pitch and then overturned it. For me, these are situations where you shouldn’t step in,” said Marelli during his post-match appearance.

“Both players are holding each other — the first hold is by Pablo Marí and it starts outside the box, but what matters is where it ends; then Vlahović grabs him in return. So what’s the issue?

“The on-field review. It was an on-pitch assessment — maybe it would’ve been better not to blow the whistle in the first place, but once he did, why did VAR intervene? The severity has to be judged by the referee.

“From my point of view, it would’ve been better not to whistle, but once he did, why was there an on-field review? In my view, that goes well beyond the protocol,” concluded the retired referee.

Juventus defenders continue to neglect Chiellini’s advice as proven by Fiorentina strike

Fiorentina vs Juventus 1-1: Imbang Lagi, Spalletti Bilang Bianconeri Mudah Ditebak

Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini had offered the current a valuable piece of advise, one that has yet to be taken to heart.

The 41-year-old, who currently serves as the club’s Director of Football Strategy, is universally regarded as one of the best defenders in his generation. ............

Therefore, ahead of the league contest against Atalanta in late September, Chiellini had urged the players to be more aggressive and confrontational in these situations.

“I think we must work to show the players that in this type of situation, it is important to be aggressive as much as possible, but not to go too deep,” said the former Juventus captain.

And yet, Rolando Mandragora’s super strike on Saturday proves that the Bianconeri players have yet to fully absorb this concept. ............

However, two of their former players combined to deliver a sensational equaliser, with Moise Kean setting up Mandragora who fired an outrageous shot from long range.

While the quality of the shot is undeniable, most fans and observers would agree that the Juventus players were too complacent and casual, allowing the Viola midfielder too much time and space to inflict the damage. ............

Serena blasts referees following revoked Juventus penalty: “Have you ever played football?”

acf-fiorentina-v-juventus-fc-serie-a-9.jpg

Legendary Italian striker Aldo Serena slams the officiating team in charge of Saturday’s contest between Fiorentina and Juventus after the controversial penalty incident. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Dusan Vlahovic, who was a target of shameful racial abuse from the home crowd at the Artemio Franchi, thought he had won a spot-kick early on.

The Serbian was about to skip past Pablo Mari after a deft backheel. However, the Spanish defender grabbed hold of the Serbian striker, and the two men were then involved in a physical tussle that ended with both going to the ground. ............

Serena noted that Mari was the one who instigated the physical tussle, and didn’t even have the intention to play the ball.

Therefore, the 65-year-old insists that the Bianconeri should have been awarded a spot-kick.

“For me, the intention is the first thing that counts. Pablo Mari ignores the ball and goes after Vlahovic to stop him,” said the former Inter, Milan and Juventus striker.

“Then he starts holding him almost simultaneously, with Vlahovic trying to defend himself by doing the same. Have they ever played football? Even on the amateur level?” ............

Preview: Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus - prediction, team news, lineups

PREVIEW | Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus - team news, lineups, predictions

Still seeking their first victory in this season's Champions League, both Bodo/Glimt and Juventus sit in the elimination places ahead of Tuesday's clash at Aspmyra Stadion.

A single point separates the two winless sides, with fallen giants Juve just ahead of the Norwegian champions.

Match preview

Following two dramatic draws - 4-4 against Borussia Dortmund and 2-2 versus Villarreal - Juventus were edged out by Real Madrid on matchday three; they then failed to beat Sporting Lisbon earlier this month, under new management.

Despite dominating the shot count on home turf, Juve had to settle for a 1-1 draw with the Portuguese champions, after Dusan Vlahovic drew them level late in the first half.

Including Sporting's early strike in Turin, the Bianconeri have conceded in seven consecutive Champions League matches since January - at an average of two goals per game - which highlights the extent of their malaise.

Looking back even further, the two-time continental champions have won only twice in their last 12 UEFA fixtures - and just once across their last dozen away games at Europe's top level.

Furthermore, Juve have made a stuttering start to life under new boss Luciano Spalletti, having failed to relaunch their ailing Serie A campaign on Saturday, when visiting rock-bottom Fiorentina.

Though they led through a superb Filip Kostic strike just before the break, Spalletti's side were held to a disappointing draw at Stadio Franchi, and any dreams of a Scudetto challenge are growing ever more distant.

Having won only two of their last 13 outings across all competitions - including one under caretaker coach Massimo Brambilla - Juventus are still stuck in crisis mode. ............

Team News

Following the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina on Saturday, Spalletti hinted at making several changes to Juve's starting XI in midweek, citing the need to use his whole squad amid a packed schedule.

Top scorer Vlahovic could therefore make way - having recently returned from international duty nursing an adductor problem - leaving Lois Openda and Jonathan David to vie for selection up front.

While Juan Cabal and Lloyd Kelly are both back in action, the Bianconeri are still missing Brazilian defender Bremer, whose fellow centre-back Daniele Rugani has just been ruled out by a muscular injury. ............

Bodo/Glimt possible starting lineup:

Khaikin; Sjovold, Bjortuft, Moe, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Fet; Blomberg, Hogh, Hauge

Juventus possible starting lineup:

Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Gatti, Kelly; Cambiaso, Locatelli, Koopmeiners, Cabal; Zhegrova, Yildiz; David

We say: Bodo/Glimt 1-1 Juventus

The conditions in northern Norway can be difficult to adapt to - both freezing temperature and plastic pitch - so Juventus may see their wait for a Champions League victory extended.

Bodo/Glimt are always dangerous at their notorious headquarters, so the hosts can collect at least one more point on Tuesday.

Juventus defender Federico Gatti risks missing out Bodo/Glimt match

Federico Gatti

Juventus may have to do without Federico Gatti for the all-important Champions League fixture against Bodo/Glimt.

The Bianconeri will travel to Norway on Monday to take on their next European foes on Tuesday evening. ............

Although Bodo/Glimt might sound like a relatively easy opponent on paper, they have been causing problems for some of Europe’s most esteemed clubs over the past few years, including Roma and Lazio.

It should be noted that the Scandinavians play on an infamously slippery synthetic pitch, making it a real nightmare for their visitors.

While it remains to be seen how Juventus will fare against the Norwegians, Gatti could be set to stay behind.

The 27-year-old has been struggling with the flu over the past few days. ............

The final training session on Monday will shed some light on the player’s condition. If he were to show up in an improved state, he could receive a call-up. Otherwise, he would remain at Continassa.

Despite the recent returns of Lloyd Kelly and Juan Cabal, Gatti’s absence would leave Luciano Spalletti with a depleted backline, as Gleison Bremer and Daniele Rugani remain on the sidelines. ............

Spalletti contemplating three tactical changes as Juventus prepare for Bodo/Glimt

Conferenza stampa Spalletti pre Bodo Glimt Juve: le ultime

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is set to ring the changes ahead of the crucial Champions League contest against Bodo/Glimt.

The Bianconeri already have their back against the wall, as we’ve already reached the midway point of the group stage, and they remain without a win.

However, their mission in Norway won’t be easy, as they’ll be playing on a synthetic pitch against a physically strong opponent. ............

Spalletti admitted that he intends to make some adjustments to the team, without specifying whether this will concern the personnel or the tactical shape. ............

The first potential change is a rather drastic switch from the current 3-4-2-1 into a four-man backline.

Spalletti has been teasing this change in the past few weeks, so it remains to be seen if he’s finally willing to pull the plug on Igor Tudor’s system and unveil his own formation. Juan Cabal’s return from injury could be essential for this tactical switch.

The second potential change could concern the shape of the attack. In Florence, the manager opted for a rather reserved lineup, with Weston McKennie joining Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic upfront.

However, the source believes that the 66-year-old will be seeking additional flair in the final third. Hence, one between Francisco Conceicao and Edon Zhegrova could get the nod, forming an attacking trio with the Serbian striker and the Turkish star.

Finally, the third suggested change also concerns the attack. GdS believes Spalletti could go for a more adventurous approach by fielding Yildiz behind two strikers, most likely Vlahovic and Lois Openda. ............

Official Juventus squad vs Bodo/Glimt: Three defenders missing

Image

Juventus have released the official matchday squad that made the trip to Norway to take on Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.

The Bianconeri have thus far failed to register a win in the Champions League this season. They began their campaign with back-to-back draws to Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal, before suffering defeat to Real Madrid. In their most recent European outing, they were held at home by Sporting CP.

Therefore, this will be a must-win match for Luciano Spalletti’s men, who can ill-afford another disappointing result. ............

On Monday afternoon, Juventus made the trip to Scandinavia, and the club’s official website released the squad list.

As reported this morning, Federico Gatti has been struggling with the flu, and his absence has now been confirmed.

With the 27-year-old out of action, Spalletti’s backline has been pared down to the bone, as Gleison Bremer has yet to recover from his meniscus surgery, while Daniele Rugani still requires additional time on the treatment table. ............

In addition to the three defenders, Juve’s third-choice goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio is also out with an injury. He has been replaced by Juventus Next Gen goalkeeper Matteo Fuscaldo. ............

Spalletti: Juventus at a ‘disadvantage’ compared to Bodo/Glimt in Champions League

Spalletti, allarme Juve: "Io conosco il freddo che ti taglia il respiro. Bodo favorito, è durissima"

Luciano Spalletti believes that Juventus are at a disadvantage ahead of their Champions League tie away against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday evening, largely due to the below-freezing temperature and artificial pitch at the Aspmyra Stadion in Norway.

The Bianconeri are still looking for their first Champions League win of the season, having picked up draws against Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal and Sporting CP and a 1-0 loss against Real Madrid so far this campaign.

With just three points to their name so far, Juventus sit outside of the knock-out places as things stand, in 26th place, two above Tuesday’s hosts, who have drawn two and lost two of their opening four matches in Europe this term. ............

“Let’s take things one at a time, because it’s been made out that we’ve had a disaster. The players did not do as badly as everyone has made out. I was the first one to admit that we have to do more, and get ourselves out of this. We have to use the resources we have and make use of our qualities. I’ve seen the desire of this team.”

Turning his attention to Tuesday’s test against Bodo/Glimt, Spalletti said: “The pitch and climate are a disadvantage. I’m lucky enough to have worked abroad. The air you take in is different, it’s so cold and we’re not used to it. It’s a matter of habits that are different to ours.

“Our desire needs to make up for this gap that exists between the two teams. They’re very good at identifying players, it’s not just the pitch and the cold. They have a lot of value and have done well in international competition.” ............

“We have to get used to the weather tomorrow, not make too many mistakes, and play well ourselves. We have done well at punishing teams, but we also have to create space and make it ourselves. We need to be looking beyond the first pass, we have to improve on that and I expect us to do so.”

“The pitch and the climate are a disadvantage,” Spalletti replied. “It’s a real difficulty because of the bounce, the way the ball behaves. That could definitely cost us, but we will deal with it. We’ve all had fears before, we face up to them and adapt. The pitch affects us, but we want to put in our own good performance.” ............

“They play well, but I speak directly with my players. They have to understand that tomorrow is a very difficult game. We’ve seen it all, along with our match analysts. Pace makes the difference, but we’re already alert to that and want to be at the top. We don’t want to play easy games, we want to play difficult matches, adapt and receive recognition because of it.” ............

Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus: Preview and Prediction

Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus Prediction, Stats, H2H - 25 Nov 2025

Kjetil Knutsen has a big task on his hands to make something out of this UEFA Champions League campaign, as Bodo/Glimt could be on the verge of elimination if results do not go their way, including in the game against Juventus. The Norwegian side have managed to collect only two points from their four games so far. ............

Meanwhile, Juventus are not far off from their Norwegian opposition, with the Bianconeri are currently struggling for relevance on all fronts this season. Back in Italy, the Turin giants are steadily slipping out of the title conversation following yet another fruitless draw, this time against a struggling Fiorentina side.

Drawing games was the theme for Juventus last season, and that has carried forward into the new campaign. Last season, it was Thiago Motta who lost his job because of such results, and this term, Igor Tudor has already fallen prey to the curse. New boss Luciano Spalletti is yet to fully the team into new heights, as this trip to Bodo/Glimt could be a good chance to begin a good run.

Juventus have drawn three and lost one of their four games in the Champions League so far; the Bianconeri desperately need a win to revive their campaign. The trip to Norway might be a good place to start, given they have decent fixtures against Pafos, Benfica, and AS Monaco, which are somewhat better compared to the four games they have played so far, as a top-24 finish is the bare minimum requirement.

Team News & Tactics

Bodo/Glimt

 ............

Probable Lineup (4-3-3) – Haikin; Sjovold, Moe, Bjortuft, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Fet; Auklend, Hogh, Hauge

RNFEqeZbISHnkYhWuXSV_D94.png

Juventus

Luciano Spalletti has already hinted at making changes for the midweek trip to Norway, as fans will be curious to see what he actually does. Injury-wise, Gleison Bremer remains sidelined alongside Arkadiusz Milik. However, Daniele Rugani. Juan Cabal, and Lloyd Kelly are back fit, and the defensive duo could start in Norway.

At the back, Spalletti is yet to play his preferred back-four setup, and he is likely to continue with a back-three, with Pierre Kalulu and Federico Gatti likely to play alongside Kelly there. Andrea Cambiaso and Cabal are set to feature in the wing-back roles, with Manuel Locatelli and Teun Koopmeiners sandwiched in the central midfield spots.

Edon Zgehrova and Kenan Yildiz are likely to support the central striker from their respective attacking positions, with Spalletti likely to choose Jonathan David over Lois Openda or Dusan Vlahovic to lead the line for Juventus against Bodo/Glimt.

Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Gatti, Kelly; Cabal, Locatelli, Koopmeiners, Cambiaso; Zhegrova, Yildiz; David

Key Stats

  • Bodo/Glimt and Juventus are set to meet for the very first time.
  • Bodo/Glimt are yet to win a game in this Champions League campaign. Tuesday’s match will be the 14th time that they will face an Italian opponent in Europe (P13 W4 D1 L8).
  • Juventus are yet to win a game in this season’s Champions League. They will face a Norwegian opponent in European competition for the first time since the 2001/02 campaign; they drew 1-1 away to Rosenborg, before beating them 1-0 on home soil in the group stage that season.
  • Juventus are winless in their last five Champions League games. In fact, the Bianconeri have recorded only one victory in their last 12 away matches in the UEFA Champions League (D5 L6), with that lone win coming at RB Leipzig in October 2024 (3-2). They had won five of their six games on the road in the competition prior to these last 12 (L1).
  • Dusan Vlahovic is the only Juventus player with multiple goals in the UEFA Champions League this season (3). If he scores here, he will become the eighth Juventus player to reach double figures for goals in the competition (currently on 9), and first since Alvaro Morata in November 2020.

Player to Watch

Jonathan David

 ............

The lack of goals in the team brings about opportunities for forwards like David and Lois Openda, with the former likely to be tasked with the chance to perform against Qarabag. Juventus have to achieve a big result, and goals will matter, as all eyes will be on the Canadian ahead of this upcoming game.

Prediction

Bodo/Glimt 1-2 Juventus

Bodo/Glimt are in a surprisingly better position than many would have thought they would be, but the upcoming games could potentially end their UEFA Champions League campaign. They have some tough fixtures ahead, and with Juventus desperate for relevance in the competition, this could be a bad night for the Norwegians.

Juventus are winless in the UEFA Champions League so far, but they now desperately need a big win under their belt. The Bianconeri are expected to collect the points, although they may not put in the smashing performances that their fans might be hoping.

Champions League Preview: Juventus vs. Bodø/Glimt

BODO/GLIMT vs JUVENTUS | UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | HIGHLIGHTS | MATCH SIMULATION/PREDICTION

The last time Juventus jumped back into the Champions League, they were coming off an encouraging debut under their new manager where you could hopefully see them build off those positives that were displayed just a a few short days earlier.

This time around, as Luciano Spalletti gets set for his second adventure into Europe with Juventus, the same can’t really be said about what Juventus did over the weekend.

Not exactly the kind of thing you want to see when you’re basically entering must-win territory in the Champions League, is it?

But that’s what looking Juventus right in the face as they head to frigid Norway to face Bodø/Glimt on Matchday 5 of the Champions League league phase on Tuesday night. By the time things kick off at the Aspmyra Stadion, temperatures will be well below freezing. There’s a chance of snow throughout the day on Tuesday. The conditions will be part of the narrative no matter if the result ends up being good or bad for Juventus, as will that fact that Bodø/Glimt play on synthetic turf because of the elements that their location provides this time of year. But even with that, Juventus are in a situation in Europe in which their previous results this season in the league phase have now resulted in their players saying things like this:

“Our margin for error is almost zero. We have to get points and win this match .”

Those are the words of Juventus fullback/wingback Andrea Cambiaso during Monday night’s pre-match conference. ............

Because Juventus have just three points from their first four Champions League league phase fixtures and currently sit outside of one of the play-off spots, any further dropped points over the remaining four league phase fixtures and Luciano Spalletti’s squad is pretty much up against it. Like Cambiaso said, the room for error is basically gone now and they have to win these last four league phase fixtures to ensure that they will be in the play-off round. That’s just what the simple math tells us if we’re going off what the first season of the league phase taught us 12 months ago.

So, if that means Juventus need 11 or 12 points to get a play-off spot, then that means Juve need at least three wins just to get there. (And, as we remember from last season, Juve was on the backend of the play-off spots with 12 points, so that has to be the most logical target to try and get to once again this year.)

The problem is, the way this team is playing these days, it’s hard to see them getting to that 12-point figure. ............

But the one saving grace for Juventus to try and make something out of the UCL league phase is that their four remaining opponents are far from what they faced in the first half of the European fixture list. Bodø/Glimt enter Tuesday night’s matchup in 29th place and have just two points in four league phase games. They’ve got 20th-place Pafos up after that. There’s also a Benfica side that’s 35th and Monaco in 19th. Those are four incredibly winnable games and ones a club like Juventus (regardless of its current state) should win or at least have a good chance of winning.

The schedule has given Spalletti a path into the play-off round. The first of those fixtures is Tuesday night in the freezing cold of Norway, but it’s still a path in which Juventus can hopefully use to their advantage. If Spalletti’s words of “To get better, we have to go through difficult matches” ring true, then maybe we’ll get to see a team much improved from Saturday night in Florence. ............

TEAM NEWS

  • After not playing in Saturday’s draw with Fiorentina, Federico Gatti was not called up for the trip to Norway. Instead, Gatti will be watching his teammates take on Bodø/Glimt from the comfort (and warmth) of his own home back in Turin. ............
  • When it comes to his starting lineup, Spalletti did say “there will be some changes” as compared to what we saw against Fiorentina over the weekend. However, he added that “I wouldn’t say it’s a complete overhaul.” So if you were hoping for just that, sounds like it isn’t happening. ............
  • A key to facing Bodø/Glimt, according to Spalletti? “We can’t leave any spaces inside, because they’re a very strong team and know how to play narrow,” he said.
  • Tuesday night will be the first time that Juventus and Bodø/Glimt have met in a European competition.

JUVENTUS PLAYER TO WATCH

There are a lot of Juventus players who aren’t playing like they have either earlier this season or during the 2024-25 campaign. That includes some of Juve’s most important and most talented members of the squad, too.

And in a much-maligned midfield that continues to make much of a mark on games, Juventus certainly needs their second generation of Thuram to kick things back into gear after yet another showing in which he played a key role in the goal Fiorentina scored and just didn’t make much of a mark this past weekend. ............

Thuram is struggling to replicate the kind of form that he had during his debut season with Juventus. That seems fairly obvious. His impact on the game — at least in a positive way — hasn’t been in the same kind of as we saw under Thiago Motta and then Tudor. Those explosive runs forward we saw from Thuram don’t feel as plentiful and as frequent as they have been. And, above all, the overall level in which he’s playing at isn’t the same as 12 months ago. ............

Juventus need Thuram to be the version of himself from last season. They need him to snap out of the mistakes that lead to opponents’ goals like we saw over the weekend against Fiorentina. They just need him to be better on the whole. (Which, I know, is something you can say about a lot of players on this Juve squad.)

Predicted Juventus XI vs Bodo/Glimt: Spalletti plotting attacking overhaul?

Bodo/Glimt vs Juventus Predicted Lineups – November 2025 - MansionsportsFC

On Tuesday evening, Juventus could take the field with a revamped attacking trident against Bodo/Glimt.

The Norwegian champions will host the Bianconeri, who cannot afford another slip-up in the Champions League. They have already failed to win in each of their first four group-stage contests, registering three draws and one defeat.

While the hosts might not be the most glamorous name in the Old Continent, they remain a tough nut to crack, especially when playing in front of their supporters in freezing conditions and on an unfamiliar synthetic pitch. ............

In his pre-match talk, Spalletti revealed he intends to maintain the current 3-4-2-1 system, but will be looking to rotate his starting lineup.

The manager also hinted that Jonathan David and Lois Openda could get the nod, while Kenan Yildiz could be rested. ............

On the wings, Andrea Cambiaso and Filip Kostic should be the favourites to retain their slots, but the versatile Weston McKennie could be an option for this role.

The Texan is also in contention for a spot in the middle of the park, but Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram will most probably be confirmed in the double-pivot, as Spalletti wouldn’t want to take too many risks on this crucial occasion. ............

Therefore, Pierre Kalulu, Lloyd Kelly and Teun Koopmeiners should keep their spots, even though Juan Cabal will be pushing for a starting role.

Juventus Probable XI (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Kelly, Koopmeiners; Cambiaso, Locatelli, Thuram, Kostic; Conceicao, Openda; David

Adani reveals what the current Juventus team lacks

Spalletti: Juventus at a 'disadvantage' compared to Bodo/Glimt in Champions League - Yahoo Sports

Lele Adani has reflected on Juventus’ disappointing form as Luciano Spalletti continues to struggle in his attempt to revive the team. Spalletti is already the club’s third manager in 2025, and the size of the task has become clear in his early matches. Juventus possess some of the strongest players in Serie A and, on paper, an accomplished coach should be able to maximise their potential and guide them towards becoming champions. This expectation was one of the reasons the club appointed an experienced tactician such as Spalletti, who previously lifted the Italian top-flight title. His impressive work with Napoli in 2023 created hope among supporters that he would deliver similar success in Turin. ............

However, his early matches have demonstrated that Juventus’ underlying issues remain deeply rooted. Old habits are proving difficult to eliminate, and the team have struggled to adapt to Spalletti’s demands. The coach himself is unlikely to be the primary problem, as he appears to be encountering the same challenges that affected his predecessors and ultimately contributed to their departures. ............

Speaking about the situation, Adani said: “For me, this Juve is missing a lot. I am not saying everything, but a lot. If we talk about Juve, if we talk about Bologna, if we talk about Como, if we talk about Lazio, if we talk about those teams fighting to cling to the top 4 or 5 positions, they do it with dignity, with quality, with ideas, with awareness, that is one thing. If we have to talk about Juve, then a lot is missing. Leadership is missing, quality of play is missing, pace is missing, personality is missing, the Juve level is missing.” ............

Cambiaso admits Juventus will struggle on Bodo/Glimt’s synthetic pitch

JUVENTUS - Cambiaso: "Manchester City? Solo un interessamento a gennaio"

Juventus are set to face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League later today, with the added challenge of playing on a synthetic pitch. The Norwegian club is one of the few in European football still using this type of surface, which has been permitted in the competition. Both teams have struggled in their European campaigns so far, and Juventus are eager to secure a win to improve its position in the group. Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, are determined to make a statement after their qualification for the tournament was widely regarded as a remarkable achievement. ............

Juventus enter the match as the bigger and more established club, with many expecting them to claim victory. This expectation increases the pressure on the team, particularly given the unusual playing conditions. Most of the Juventus squad have likely spent their entire careers playing on natural grass, making the synthetic surface an unfamiliar challenge. While the pitch will not be used as an excuse in the event of a poor performance, it could complicate their usual style of play and require adjustments both tactically and mentally. Success will depend not only on individual quality but also on the team’s preparation and capacity to manage these additional pressures. ............

Andrea Cambiaso highlighted the difficulties of competing under such conditions. He said, “Playing here is completely different, also because of the climate. I’ll have to change my boots: I haven’t set foot on a synthetic pitch since I was 17 in the Genoa youth team. It will be incredibly tough, but we have to be ready.” ............

UCL | Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus: Yildiz inspiration for first victory

212527238-62f8360b-6e78-46fe-bc75-fd2f166c2af6.jpg

Kenan Yildiz came off the bench and transformed the match, as Juventus fought back for their first Champions League win of the season, 3-2 away to Bodo/Glimt.

The Bianconeri were still without a win in Europe after three draws and a defeat to Real Madrid, but also struggled with Luciano Spalletti’s three consecutive stalemates in all competition. ............

Francisco Conceicao saw his sudden snapshot palmed wide in the opening minutes, with Vasilije Adzic also testing the goalkeeper.

Adzic tried a rather audacious volley at the back post on the Conceicao cross that landed on the roof of the net, when he had more time than he realised to control it relatively unmarked. ............

The hosts scored from the resulting corner, which was flicked on by Kasper Hogh for Blomberg to blast in at the back post, despite Mattia Perin’s attempt to parry on the line with a boot. ............

Juventus tried to respond with Lois Openda on the counter-attack setting up Francisco Conceicao for an angled drive, deflected inches wide of the far stick, then Adzic’s header on a Conceicao cross was palmed away by Nikita Haikin.

Bodo/Glimt had penalty appeals when the Hogh effort struck Manuel Locatelli’s ribs first and then onto his arm, but the referee and VAR ruled it involuntary. ............

Kenan Yildiz replaced the struggling Adzic at half-time, moving Miretti into midfield, and he made an immediate impact. There appeared to be a foul on Miretti in midfield, but the move continued, the Yildiz effort was deflected into the path of Openda to fire in.

Lois Openda scores for Juventus against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League (@juventusfc)

Juve had the ball in the net again soon after following a well-worked move involving Yildiz and the Miretti finish, but Openda was offside in the build-up and it didn’t count.

The Bianconeri were pushing hard, though, and did indeed turn the game around when Yildiz picked the perfect through ball for Miretti down the left, he stood up the cross for a McKennie header from six yards. ............

212529131-7f5718b6-15ed-4904-991b-c3ea59f0b437.jpg

However, they didn’t make those chances stick and Juan Cabal gave away a late penalty with his clumsy, late and high tackle on Auklend’s ankle. Sondre Brunstad Fet stepped up and fired it through the middle, as Perin went down. ............

It was suddenly wide open, as Cabal charged down another Brunstad Fet effort from 12 yards, but Juventus restored their advantage moments later. Kenan Yildiz controlled the long ball with a wonderful first touch, twisted and turned to force a fingertip save out of the goalkeeper, into the path of Jonathan David to tap in.

220012755-f0828ca7-3dc9-408f-87db-5c223da7ad63.jpg

There was almost a fourth deep into stoppages, as Yildiz pulled back from the by-line for another David tap-in from six yards, denied by a desperate Odin Bjortuft clearance.

Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus | Player Ratings – Yildiz dazzles in sub-zero battle

Bodo Glimt 2-3 Juventus | Maçın adamı Kenan Yıldız seçildi.

Juventus picked up their first Champions League win of the campaign tonight with a 3-2 win against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt on a snowy Tuesday night in Nordland. ............

Bodo/Glimt 2-3 Juventus – Player Ratings

Bodo/Glimt: Haikin 6; Bjorkan 5.5, Aleesami 5.5, Bjortuft 6, Sjovold 6; Fet 6, Berg 6.5, Evjen 7; Blomberg 7, Hogh 7, Maatta 6

JuventusPerin 5.5; Koopmeiners 6, Kelly 5.5, Kalulu 6; Cambiaso 6 (Cabal 5.5), Locatelli 6.5, Miretti 7 (Thuram 6), McKennie 7.5; Adzic 6 (Yildiz 8), Conceicao 7.5; Openda 7 (David 7) ............

Best Juventus Player: Kenan Yildiz – With Juventus a goal down at half-time, Spalletti introduced Yildiz for Adzic and the Bianconeri came to life. It took three minutes for the Turk to set up Openda, before an assist for a disallowed Miretti goal. Yildiz brings an exceptional level of attacking confidence to this side – one that was clearly missing in the first 45.

Lowest Juventus Rating: Vasilije Adzic – The Bianconeri’s hero in September’s Derby d’Italia was not so impressive tonight. ............ He struggled today and was replaced by Yildiz, a change that turned the game on its head.

Coach: Spalletti 7 – A trip to Bodo/Glimt is a notoriously tricky challenge due to pitch and weather conditions, and even if the decision to start Adzic was a bit of a misstep, the coach adjusted his side well and was rewarded with substitution Jonathan David scoring the winner.

Juventus win goal-fest against Bodo Glimt to end winless run

212157329-1f817a85-408b-479b-9441-c0928875dba5.jpg

Juventus earned a hard-fought 3,2 win over Bodo Glimt in the Champions League, claiming their first European victory of the season. Both sides entered the fixture without a win in the competition, and with the clear skies in Bodo offering a rare moment of favourable conditions, it was an opportunity for each team to pursue all three points. Juventus were aware of the challenge ahead, yet their manager needed a result, and his team began the match with purpose.

As expected, the hosts delivered a spirited display and carried confidence into the contest. Their early pressure was rewarded when Ole Blomberg opened the scoring, capitalising on a Juventus side that had failed to convert its own chances. ............

Juventus returned from the interval with greater intensity and were quickly rewarded when Lois Openda scored the equaliser. This shifted the momentum firmly in their favour, and shortly afterwards, a potential penalty involving Fabio Miretti was dismissed following a VAR review. Juventus continued to push, and Weston McKennie found the next breakthrough, completing the turnaround.

Despite taking the lead, Juventus were unable to relax. Bodo Glimt maintained their determination and eventually levelled from the penalty spot, ensuring a tense conclusion to the match. Juventus, however, responded decisively once again, and Jonathan David struck what proved to be the winning goal, sealing their long-awaited European victory. ............

This result arrives at a crucial time for Juventus, offering renewed confidence as they continue their Champions League campaign. Although the performance showed areas that still require improvement. ............
