Bremer opens up on Monaco draw: “Spalletti is always right, I’m exhausted”

Monaco-Juventus 0-0, bianconeri ai play-off di Champions Agenzia di stampa Italpress - Italpress

Juventus defender Gleison Bremer admitted that his manager, Luciano Spalletti, was accurate in his critical description of the team’s performance against Monaco.

The Bianconeri needed to beat the Ligue 1 side on the final matchday of the Champions League group stage to stand a chance at booking a direct place in the Round of 16. In hindsight, even three points wouldn’t have been sufficient. ............

“We wanted to win, but there was a bit of fatigue, and we couldn’t manage it,” said the Brazilian in his post-match interview.

“We made some rotation, which made sense — it was a game where we could do that. We move on and focus on the match against Parma, which is one we have to win.

“When the coach speaks, he’s always right. There was mental fatigue too, and we made mistakes we don’t usually make. You could see it today, but we have to keep going.” ............

“I feel a bit exhausted. Since coming back from my second injury, I’ve played every match, I haven’t been able to get a game off yet, but I’m feeling good.

“I’m working well, I just need to be careful with recovery in training. I hope to keep it up because from now on every match is important and I can’t afford to miss any.” ............

Del Piero & Di Canio disagree on Yildiz choice: “Juve can’t afford it”

Monaco-Juventus 0-0, bianconeri ai play-off di Champions

Juventus star Kenan Yildiz started on the bench against Monaco in a decision that sparked a debate among fans and pundits.

The Bianconeri settled for a draw in the French principality on the final matchday of the Champions League, with neither side able to break the deadlock. ............

For his part, Alessandro Del Piero agreed with the choices made by the Juventus manager, reckoning the importance of keeping Yildiz fresh ahead of the upcoming fixtures.

“Leaving Yildiz out? I think it’s a smart move. I read it as giving those on the fringes the chance to get minutes and prove themselves in a Champions League match,” argued the iconic Juventus captain during his post-match appearance.

“Tonight’s game is important to finish as a seeded team, so you rest your most important creative player, Yildiz, who needs to be at peak physical condition to produce that burst.

“It’s about giving the right weight to this qualification: beyond whether you’re seeded or not, regardless of playing the first leg at home or away, the mindset is ‘we go out there to take on anyone’.

“He’s trying to build a team that’s strong whatever happens. You end up with a happier squad after the match if everyone performs well: you satisfy those who haven’t played, and those in the starting XI will accept it for a while longer.” ............

ormer West Ham and Lazio striker Paolo Di Canio argued that the Juventus head coach should have fielded his strongest lineup.

“Juventus can’t afford these kinds of choices,” said the former Sunderland manager, who was also present in the Sky studios.

“When you face teams in Europe, even if they’re struggling, they have more power and stamina than you. Monaco have players who will hurt you in space. Right now, Juventus can’t afford to leave out certain key players: Locatelli’s passing patterns, Yildiz’s bursts.

“Sometimes you have to do it out of necessity, but it should be in a moment of growth, when everyone has improved. You can’t afford these choices because Thuram can’t do what Locatelli does — you lose tempo and it becomes a different Juventus.

“And the opponent you’re facing isn’t one of the thirteen teams below you in Serie A, it’s Monaco.” ............

Champions League play-off draw: Juventus to play Galatasaray

Juventus-before-Benfica-game.jpg

Juventus have been pitted against Galatasaray in the Champions League play-off following Friday’s draw in Nyon.

The Bianconeri finished the group stage in 13th place. They began their campaign with a dramatic 4-4 draw at home against Borussia Dortmund, before dropping points in Villarreal. ............

Juventus had to wait until the fifth matchday to earn their first win of the campaign, thanks to Jonathan David’s last-gasp winner in Bodo. They then beat Pafos and Benfica at home, before sharing the spoils in Monaco on the final day of the group stage.

The Serie A giants’ 13th spot meant that their next opponent will either be 19th-placed Club Brugge or 20th-placed Galatasaray.

In the end, the draw decided the Old Lady’s fate, and the Italians are set to play the Turkish giants, who have Victor Osimhen leading their line. ............

The first leg of the Champions League play-off will take place on February 17/18, while the return fixtures will be held a week later. Thanks to their seeded rank, Juventus will host the decisive leg at home. ............

Chiellini paralajmëron Juventusin për duelin me Galatasaray - Korrekt Press

Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini says the Bianconeri have ‘great respect’ for their Champions League play-off opponent Galatasaray, but insists the Serie A giants were ‘never’ close to signing Osimhen.

Juventus have been drawn against Turkish giants Galatasaray in the Champions League knockout play-off. ............

“It’s a strong team with great players. We’ll play the second leg at home, so it won’t end in Istanbul, but we’ll have to be good at going to that stadium to play our game and exploit their weaknesses and limit the big potential and individual players, not just in attack,” Chiellini said from Nyon after the draw.

“We all know Osimhen, but they are strong in other departments too.” ............

Back in 2013, Chiellini was on the pitch and Antonio Conte on the bench when Juventus lost a group stage game against Galatasaray, facing elimination from the Champions League group phase.

It had been postponed by one day due to heavy snow in Istanbul, but when it was played, the pitch’s condition was far from ideal.

“We lost it on the pitch, and I even made the decisive mistake, regardless of the snow and the pitch,” Chiellini said.

“Now we are two different teams. We must respect their quality, because they have quality players in all departments, but we must also be aware of our skills and put in an important performance. It will go down to details, like every knockout game, we’ll have to be mature to play in Istanbul and confirm ithttps://football-italia.net/chiellini-juventus-respect-galatasaray-osimhen/ the following week.”

A reporter asked Chiellini if he would have liked to play up against Osimhen on the field.

“Right now, I couldn’t cope,” he replied, smiling. ............

“Galatasaray have many important players, some of whom have played in Serie A too. Turkish teams are making investments, and there’s great respect for a storied club like Galatasaray. It’s a fascinating challenge, it will be a tough game, but also an important test for us. We still have all to play for in Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia. We have some interesting weeks ahead.”

Have Juventus ever been close to signing Osimhen before he moved to Galatasaray from Napoli?

“If you mean that a club likes Osimhen, I think it’s true for all the teams, especially in Italy,” Chiellini concluded.

“But realistically, there’s never been anything more than this.”

Napoli, tra Osimhen e Spalletti torna la pace: i tifosi applaudono

The upcoming Champions League meetings between Juventus and Galatasaray will mark a reunion between Luciano Spalletti and Victor Osimhen, who won the Serie A title at Napoli in 2022-23. ............

Less than three years ago, the pair won a historic Serie A title at Napoli, the first one in 33 years for the Partenopei.

Osimhen greatly contributed to Napoli’s milestone with 26 goals that made him the Serie A’s Capocannoniere for 2022-23. ............

Overall, Osimhen scored 49 goals and provided 12 assists in 71 appearances under Spalletti at the Stadio Maradona.

The Nigerian forward netted five times in six Champions League games at Napoli under the Italian tactician, plus four in the 2021-22 Europa League and 40 across two Serie A campaigns. ............

Only one Juventus regular starter could be rested in Parma

Gleison Bremer in action

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti could opt to drop Gleison Bremer from his starting lineup against Parma on Sunday. ............

Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Cambiaso, and Michele Di Gregorio are all expected to regain their usual starting spots this weekend in Parma, as Spalletti will be keen to field his strongest possible lineup, but perhaps with one exception.

Bremer could be granted some well-deserved rest on Sunday.

This has been a challenging campaign for the 28-year-old, who returned from a 10-month layoff in the summer, only to sustain a meniscus injury that required another surgery............

After the midweek contest in Monaco, the defender admitted he’s feeling a bit exhausted, and he’s also making sure to carefully manage his workload in training to avoid another setback.

While the omnipresent Pierre Kalulu and Lloyd Kelly are expected to start yet again at the Ennio Tardini, Spalletti could consider this league contest the right opportunity to give Bremer a breather.

Moreover, Gatti has been eagerly awaiting his chance to start a match since recovering from his meniscus surgery. ............

Kan een afbeelding zijn van football, voetbal en de tekst 'PLAY-OFFS J ご利 S 1905 1905 刀'

Fabio Capello has given his thoughts after Friday’s Champions League play-off draw, has explained why Inter face the biggest ‘risk’ against Bodo/Glimt, and has explained why Juventus’s clash against Galatasaray is just as ‘complicated’ as Atalanta’s tie with Borussia Dortmund. ............

Inter finished highest of the bench in 10th place, followed by Juventus in 13th and Atalanta in 15th. Napoli were beaten 3-2 at home against Chelsea on Wednesday night and were subsequently eliminated in 30th place.

Friday’s knock-out round draw has seen Inter tied against Bodo/Glimt, Juventus against Galatasaray and Atalanta against Borussia Dortmund in two-legged play-off matches that will take place in the midweek slots of February 17/18 and February 24/25. ............

Turning his attention to Juventus, who will have to visit Istanbul in their tie against Galatasaray, Capello said: “It’s a boiling atmosphere there. They have great support and a lot of discipline, Galatasaray transform when they are at home.

“They’ll have to play a real game in the first leg. There are old acquaintances in Osimhen and Icardi, but I see it as a difficult away game because of the way the atmosphere spurs the team on.”

Juventus haven’t reached the Champions League round of 16 for the last four years, but Capello believes this is not a reason for the Bianconeri players to become nervous.

“Their legs won’t shake. The opposite if anything. The fact that this is a difficult game will force the players to be more focused and determined. I see it as a bigger risk for Inter, the possibility of underestimating the occasion. ............

When asked if Atalanta or Juventus have the tougher tie, Capello said: “I see the first leg in Istanbul as being complicated, but in general, it’s Atalanta who have the most difficult opponent.”

Spalletti wants a ‘combative’ Juventus in Parma, heaps praise on Osimhen & Icardi

Parma-Juventus, le parole di Spalletti in conferenza stampa

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti didn’t like how the team performed on Wednesday in Monaco, so he’s expecting a comprehensive improvement in Sunday’s Serie A contest against Parma. ............

Therefore, Spalletti is urging his players to take more risks when they play Parma at the Ennio Tardini on Sunday.

“This will be a stretch to navigate at full throttle, with so many games packed together. We have to find solutions,” said the 66-year-old in his pre-match press conference.

“The decision not to go into a training camp is meant to give the players more space and freedom. As the number of matches increases, rest also has to increase.

“These weeks have been planned this way: match, recovery session for those who played, conditioning work for those who didn’t. The following day a light session, then preparation for the next game and match again.”

“In the last game, we didn’t do particularly well, it was an average match — that can happen in football — but I expect an immediate reaction.

“Tomorrow will be a game with constant momentum swings and a lot of chaos, so I want to see a team that’s ready, even if it concedes a few counter-attacks because it wants to go and score.

“I don’t want to see a relaxed team like the one we saw the other night. I live my life based on what happens on the pitch, and tomorrow I want a combative team, ready to strike whoever is in front of it.” ............

“Kenan can become a set-piece specialist. He has to train, because with the foot he has he can do it very well. An alien has to be able to do that too — otherwise what kind of alien would he be?!

“He has to believe in it and work on that trait, not just for the ‘Del Piero comparison’ but because by the end of the season it can bring important points. In any case, we also have other players who can take set pieces.” ............

“Unfortunately, Cambiaso has Yildiz ahead of him, so he has to adapt to the choice of who is in front of him. Luckily they work very well together. They’re two players who know how to play football and give confidence to the ball.

“With his movements, he’s important in creating new spaces. At the moment I have nothing to criticise about any of my players. Through work, qualities emerge — even the more hidden ones — and I see that they have plenty of them.” ............

“The market is in the hands of the club, I have a different role. We’ll see if in these final hours it’s possible to do something or not, but that won’t affect the conviction with which we work every day. The club is working non-stop to try to improve the squad; we’re waiting.”

Juventus have been pitted against Galatasaray in the Champions League play-off, so Spalletti will be reunited with Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen. ............

“I have so many things to say about Osimhen. When I talk about him, I also like to talk about Icardi. They have the number 9 as their blood type. They have unquestionable quality — with the two of them you have every plan: Plan A, Plan B, Plan C.

“With them you have the solutions; you just have to decide how to get back into the house: ring the doorbell, or knock the door down, or smash it in. Osimhen smashes it down; the other one, in the penalty area in terms of finishing, has been one of the best I’ve ever had the fortune to coach.”

Preview: Parma vs Juventus - prediction, team news, lineups

Preview: Parma vs Juventus Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds | Serie A 2025-26

After their statement win over the Serie A champions last weekend, in-form Juventus will pay a visit to Parma on Sunday evening.

Having beaten Napoli by three goals, Juve then missed out on direct entry to the Champions League's last 16, but they are still one of three Italian teams left standing.

Match preview

Before settling for a tame goalless draw in Monaco on the final matchday, Juventus needed a minor miracle if they were to secure a top-eight finish in the Champions League table. ............

Even ahead of Wednesday's Europe-wide finale, Juve had already wrapped up a playoff place, and the draw has since pitted them against Galatasaray.

Before that two-legged tie takes place, Luciano Spalletti's side have four domestic fixtures to fulfil: a Coppa Italia quarter-final and league games against Lazio and Inter Milan will follow this week's trip to Emilia-Romagna.

Last time out in Serie A, Juventus maintained their unbeaten home record by defeating the Scudetto holders, as Jonathan David's first-half goal set the stage for an emphatic 3-0 win over Spalletti's former club Napoli.

That success left the Bianconeri just one point behind both Roma and Napoli - who hold the last two Champions League places - and continued their recent revival.

Since Spalletti showed up in Turin, no team has conceded fewer goals in Serie A - just eight across 13 matches - and they also boast the league's third-best attack, with 23 scored during that period.

Now five points up on their tally at this stage last term, Juve can continue in that vein by beating one of their favourite opponents: 11 wins and just two defeats from the last 17 top-flight meetings may suggest they can do another double over Parma. ............

Team News

Only Daniele Rugani, Dusan Vlahovic and long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik are sidelined for Juventus, who made a number of changes to their lineup in midweek.

After rare starts for Mattia Perin, Juan Cabal and Lois Openda, regulars such as club captain Manuel Locatelli, chief creator Kenan Yildiz and Andrea Cambiaso should all return.

Thanks to his goal against Napoli, Yildiz has already beaten last term's tally of Serie A strikes, with eight scored so far; he also ranks second for both touches in the opposition box (120) and successful take-ons (42) in Italy's top flight.

Meanwhile, David - who scored in the reverse fixture against Parma - has recently recorded three goal involvements from his last three away games, after failing to contribute any across his first eight in Serie A. ............

Parma possible starting lineup:

Corvi; Delprato, Circati, Troilo; Britschgi, Bernabe, Keita, Sorensen, Valenti; Ondrejka; Pellegrino

Juventus possible starting lineup:

Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; David ............

We say: Parma 0-2 Juventus

Having tightened up their defence, Juventus should keep another clean sheet against toothless Parma, who average well under a goal per game.

As Spalletti is also getting a sweeter tune out of his front line, Juve will surely take three points away from the Tardini.

Parma vs Juventus: Preview and Prediction

PREVIEW | Parma vs Juventus - team news, lineups, predictions - Yahoo Sports

Juventus arrive in Emilia-Romagna on Sunday night carrying the momentum of one of their most emphatic performances of the season, as Parma attempt to halt a slide that has left them uncomfortably close to the Serie A danger zone.

The Bianconeri sent a clear message last weekend by dismantling reigning champions Napoli 3-0 in Turin, a result that underlined the growing authority of Luciano Spalletti’s side. That victory came just days before Juventus wrapped up their UEFA Champions League league-phase campaign with a goalless draw away to AS Monaco, a result that denied them automatic qualification to the last 16, but still ensured progression into the knockout play-offs, where Galatasaray now await.

Europe will return soon enough, but Juventus’s immediate focus remains domestic. A demanding run lies ahead, with a Coppa Italia quarter-final and league clashes against Lazio and Inter Milan still to come. Before that sequence begins, this trip to Parma represents an opportunity to consolidate their revival and maintain pressure on the teams above them.

The win over Napoli was another step forward in what has been a quietly impressive turnaround. Since Spalletti’s arrival in Turin, Juventus have become one of Serie A’s most balanced sides. No team has conceded fewer goals in the league during that period, just eight across 13 matches, while only two sides have scored more. ............

Team News & Tactics

Parma Calcio 1913

 ............

Probable Lineup (3-5-2): Corvi; Delprato, Circati, Troilo; Britschgi, Bernabe, Keita, Sorensen, Valenti; Ondrejka, Pellegrino

Parma vs Juventus: Preview and Prediction.

Juventus

Juventus travel to Parma with relatively few fitness concerns, a welcome position as their schedule intensifies across multiple competitions. Daniele Rugani remains unavailable, while Dusan Vlahovic is still sidelined through injury. Long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik continues his rehabilitation and will not feature.

Beyond those three, Luciano Spalletti has a largely settled squad to choose from, and there are no suspension issues affecting the Bianconeri for this fixture. Spalletti rotated heavily in midweek, handing rare starts to Mattia Perin, Juan Cabal, and Lois Openda, but several established starters are expected to return at Stadio Tardini.

Club captain Manuel Locatelli, creative fulcrum Kenan Yildiz, and versatile full-back Andrea Cambiaso are all in line to reclaim their places in the starting XI. Yildiz, in particular, arrives in excellent form; his goal against Napoli took him to eight Serie A strikes this season, already surpassing his total from the previous campaign. He also ranks among the league’s elite for attacking involvement, sitting second for both touches in the opposition box and successful take-ons.

Further forward, Jonathan David remains a key figure in Juventus’s attack. The forward, who scored in the reverse fixture against Parma, has found renewed confidence away from home, registering three goal involvements across his last three Serie A away matches after failing to contribute in his first eight on the road this season.

Tactically, Juventus are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, offering balance between defensive security and attacking fluidity. Michele Di Gregorio is set to start in goal, protected by a back four of Pierre Kalulu at right-back, Gleison Bremer as the central defensive leader alongside Lloyd Kelly, and Andrea Cambiaso operating from left-back.

In midfield, Manuel Locatelli is likely to anchor the double pivot, partnered by Khephren Thuram, whose athleticism and ball-carrying ability add dynamism through the centre. The attacking midfield line should feature Francisco Conceicao on the right, Weston McKennie in a central supporting role, and Kenan Yildiz drifting in from the left, giving Juventus creativity, pressing intensity, and goal threat behind the striker.

Finally, leading the line, Jonathan David is expected to operate as the lone centre-forward, tasked with stretching Parma’s back three and converting the chances created by Juventus’ fluid attacking unit.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; David

Parma vs Juventus: Preview and Prediction.

Key Stats

  • Juventus have conceded just eight goals in Serie A since Luciano Spalletti took charge, the best defensive record in the league over that period.
  • Parma are the second-lowest scorers in Serie A, with only 14 goals this season.
  • Mateo Pellegrino has scored 43% of Parma’s league goals.
  • Juventus have won 11 of their last 17 Serie A meetings with Parma, including a 2–0 victory in Turin earlier this season.
  • Parma have recorded just two wins from 11 home league matches.

Player to Watch

Kenan Yildiz

Yildiz continues to be one of the driving forces behind Juventus’s resurgence, and Sunday’s trip to Parma offers another opportunity for the young attacker to showcase his growing influence. Operating primarily from the left side of the attacking midfield line, the Turkish star blends flair with intelligence, regularly drifting into central pockets to overload defences and create shooting lanes.

What makes Yildiz particularly dangerous is his consistency in involvement. He is not a peripheral creator but a constant presence in the opposition box, as reflected by his high volume of touches in dangerous areas and his willingness to take defenders on. His eight Serie A goals already surpass last season’s total, underlining a marked improvement in end product alongside his technical development. ............

Prediction

Parma 0-2 Juventus

Juventus arrive in Emilia-Romagna in strong form and with growing confidence, particularly after their emphatic victory over Napoli. Their defensive structure under Luciano Spalletti has been one of the most reliable in Serie A, and that solidity should serve them well against a Parma side that has struggled to create chances consistently.

Parma’s reliance on Mateo Pellegrino for goals leaves little margin for error, especially against a Juventus defence that concedes few clear openings. While the hosts may show discipline and fight in front of their own supporters, Juventus’s superior quality in midfield and attacking areas is likely to tell as the game wears on.

If the Bianconeri maintain their intensity and patience in possession, they should find the breakthrough without being overly exposed at the other end. The Hard Tackle predicts a 2-0 win for Luciano Spalletti and his charges.

Round 23: Parma vs. Juventus match preview

Parma vs Juventus prediction: Match preview, betting odds and tips on February 1, 2026 – Ratingbet.com

A lot has happened since Juventus and Parma faced one another during the first weekend of the 2025-26 season. At the time, it look like there would be a lot more good than bad based on how Juve’s Aug. 24 win over the Gialloblu and the next few fixtures went. It, of course, didn’t last, and a couple of months later resulted in Luciano Spalletti stepping in to try and right the ship after Igor Tudor wasn’t able to.

For the most part, that has been the case.

Juventus are all of one point off the top four in Serie A. They just rebounded from their rough start to Champions League play to finish in a very respectable 13th place in the league phase table. We now know who the Bianconeri will be facing in the play-off round next month, with Friday’s draw producing a two-legged tie against Turkish giants Galatasaray, with the winner to meet either defending Premier League champions Liverpool or reigning Europa League winners Tottenham in the UCL Round of 16.

So while we know what the schedule will look like a couple of weeks down the road — which will also include the second Derby d’Italia of the season against league leaders Inter Milan, this time at the San Siro — the immediate future is the return fixture against that same Parma side that Juve opened the campaign against.

The first day of February means a Sunday night visit to the Tardini for Spalletti’s squad, who will look to keep the pressure on both Roma and Napoli. ............

But if Juventus think they can just stroll by a Parma side that is currently 15th in the Serie A table and has just one win in their last six and is coming off a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Atalanta in Bergamo, they’ve got another thing coming to them. Parma’s just six points above the relegation zone, which still happens to have Fiorentina sitting in 18th place on 17 points. Any further struggles and Parma are likely seeing some legit relegation fight worries coming to the front of their minds, if they aren’t already.

We don’t have to go back all that long to see what can happen if Juventus don’t take care of business in the land where some of the best prosciutto in the world is curated. The last trip to Parma did not go well, and at least we know Juve have a little bit more time to potentially recover if they are to slip up once again.

And as much as this is a trip to the home stadium of a club that has just two wins in 11 home fixtures so far this season, here’s a reminder of what Juventus’ schedule looks like once they return home from facing Parma:

  • Away against Atalanta (Coppa Italia)
  • Home against Lazio
  • Away against Inter
  • Away against Galatasaray (Champions League)
  • Home against Como
  • Home against Galatasaray (Champions League)
  • Away against Roma

Those are Juventus’ seven games up until the first weekend of March. That is a huge stretch, and one that will tell us a lot about the Bianconeri as well as many of the clubs that they will face since they are also contending for a spot in the top four, if not more than that. It’s also a stretch in which Spalletti recognizes that his squad will be tested physically at a time in which they are already feeling the effects of a very busy January that also featured seven fixtures.

”There will be a lot of games in the coming weeks, so we need to find alternative solutions,” Spalletti said during Saturday’s pre-match press conference. “The number of matches is increasing, and as far as I’m concerned, we need to increase the amount of rest. It seems to me that the players are responding well to these changes. When you play so much, you have to find a balance between playing a lot, resting a lot and training a lot.”

But at the same time …

“I have complete faith in my players,” Spalletti continued, “and they are top-class professionals.” ............

The schedule is not slowing down — especially now that we know that Juve will be in the Champions League play-off round in a couple of weeks, which will add 180 minutes (at least) onto their best players’ legs.

So could we see some squad rotation against Parma just like we saw a few days earlier in Monaco? Yeah, that seems like it’s a good idea knowing that the same kind of Coppa Italia rotation on Thursday probably isn’t as possible knowing that Juve’s opponent is one of the strongest clubs remaining. But Spalletti also can’t afford to run his best players like Kenan Yildiz or Gleison Bremer into the ground over these next few weeks no matter how important every single game may be just because they already have a lot of minutes in their legs. It’s just that point of the season, folks.

Unless it’s Pierre Kalulu, I guess, because that man just continues to play 90 minutes every single game and is continuing to basically crush it every single time. If only everybody could be like that, right?

TEAM NEWS

  • Spalletti had no new injuries coming out of Wednesday night’s scoreless draw against Monaco to wrap up the Champions League league phase. ............
    • As much as Spalletti said that his squad is feeling the impact of so many games in a short period of time in January, he wanted to make sure those in the Italian press knew one thing: “I’m not tired,” he said.
    • Manuel Locatelli, as has been the case for more than just a couple of weeks now, is one yellow card away from suspension. With so many big games ahead on the schedule and with how he’s played so far under Spalletti, this feels just as important as it was in the build-up to Juve facing Napoli.
    •

    JUVENTUS PLAYER TO WATCH

While Spalletti is expected to field a pretty full strength starting lineup against Parma on Sunday night, there is a chance of seeing a couple of names in there that we haven’t talked much about over these past few weeks. ............

There is basically one runoff battle going on for Juventus: Gleison Bremer or Federico Gatti. As we know, Bremer has played a whole heck of a lot over the past six weeks since he came back from his knee injury last month, while Gatti has just come back into the fold after also suffering a meniscus injury before the full reach of the chilly winter months arrived.

If Spalletti thinks that his squad is tired — and he has mentioned that Bremer’s felt some fatigue of late and that it’s something to monitor over the coming weeks — then getting somebody like Gatti who hasn’t played much (primarily due to injury) some valuable minutes ahead of crucial stretch of the season where the entire roster is going to be needed in some form or another. ............

Plus, there’s also this simple fact: Parma are one of the lowest scoring teams in Serie A so far this season. Through their first 22 league fixtures, they’ve scored all of 14 goals. In their six league fixtures in January, Parma scored all of two goals. They are struggling to score goals — and it’s been that way for months now.

That may be reading into the stats too much, but it also feels like a logical chance to ease Gatti back into playing more minutes while not facing an opponent that is just going to be a huge threat every time they push forward. ............

Juventus probable lineup vs Parma: Gatti pushing for a spot

Federico Gatti celebrating his goal

Following the midweek rotation, Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti is expected to unleash his strongest available lineup against Parma on Sunday.

The Serie A contest will take place at the Ennio Tardini Stadium. It kicks off at 20:45 CET. ............

With Juventus already qualified for the play-off stage, Spalletti took the opportunity to rest some of his regular starters, mainly Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Cambiaso, Jonathan David and Michele Di Gregorio. ............

Di Gregorio will return to goal, playing behind a backline consisting of the omnipresent Pierre Kalulu, Gleison Bremer, Lloyd Kelly, and Cambiaso.

In the middle of the park, Teun Koopmeiners will be dropped in favour of Locatelli. The Juventus captain will resume his partnership with Thuram. ............

Weston McKennie will operate as an attacking midfielder in the 4-2-3-1 formation, but he could also occupy other roles during the course of the match, at least if Spalletti decides to alter his system.

Yildiz will be unleashed on the left wing, while Francisco Conceicao will maintain his role on the opposite flank.

Finally, the in-form Jonathan David will reclaim his starting berth at the expense of Lois Openda, who failed to make the most out of his midweek opportunity. ............

There is a 45% chance for Federico Gatti to replace Bremer at the heart of the backline. ............

Juventus Probable XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer (Gatti), Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; David

PARMA, ITALY - FEBRUARY 01: Bremer of Juventus scores his team's first goal during the Serie A match between Parma Calcio 1913 and Juventus FC at Stadio Ennio Tardini on February 01, 2026 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images)

Juventus celebrated a rare Gleison Bremer brace, along with Weston McKennie and Jonathan David efforts around a comical Andrea Cambiaso own goal to beat Parma 4-1. ............

Francisco Conceicao nearly scored twice in the opening six minutes, as first he forced a desperate Edoardo Corvi save on a Pierre Kalulu assist from the right, then he smashed his finish onto the underside of the bar from seven yards on a Weston McKennie pull-back.

The deadlock was broken when Francisco Conceicao’s corner found Bremer for a bullet header into the near bottom corner from seven yards.

Conceicao kept pushing, as Enrico Delprato got back just in time to prevent him tapping in the Jonathan David pull-back, but McKennie was booked and a VAR silent check conducted for potential red over his high boot on Mariano Troilo’s ankle. ............

Juventus doubled their lead when Kalulu stood up a cross from the right for McKennie’s acrobatic right-foot volley from eight yards. ............

Juve literally gifted the hosts a way back into the game with a comical own goal from Andrea Cambiaso. He anticipated Sascha Britschgi on the Alessandro Circati cross from the left and bizarrely flicked it off the outside of the boot into his net from six yards.

The Ducali barely had time to celebrate when Juventus had restored their two-goal cushion in chaotic fashion. A free kick was taken short, McKennie’s attempt ricocheted off the bar, David’s looping header was probably going in anyway, but Bremer got the final touch just to be sure.

A fourth arrived a few minutes later, as Corvi was late getting down to a Conceicao angled drive and only fingertipped it into the path of David to tap in at the back stick. It’s the second game in a row where Parma conceded four goals.

Lois Openda and Mateo Pellegrino glancing headers whistled wide late on. Openda had the ball in the net with an angled drive, but only after wandering offside. ............

Parma 1-4 Juventus

Bremer 15, 54 (J), McKennie 37 (J), Cambiaso og 51 (P), David 64 (J) ............

Parma 1-4 Juventus: Old Lady reigns supreme at the Tardini

Gleison Bremer and Francisco Conceicao

Juventus extended their positive run by putting on a show at the Stadio Ennio Tardini at the expense of Parma, who were no match for Luciano Spalletti’s men.

Luciano Spalletti adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation spearheaded by Jonathan David, with Francisco Conceicao, Weston McKennie, and Kenan Yildiz acting as his support crew. ............

The Bianconeri almost took the lead twice in the opening minutes through Conceicao. But on the first occasion, the Portuguese winger was denied by an excellent reaction save from Edoardo Corvi, while his second attempt crashed against the woodwork.

While Conceicao couldn’t break the deadlock himself, he provided the assist for Bremer with an exquisite corner kick that the Brazilian headed past the Parma goalkeeper. ............

Locatelli started the attack with a lovely long ball that found David. The Canadian striker laid it off to Kalulu, who sent a cross to the box. Although the ball was slightly behind him, McKennie still managed to forge an effort on goal while unbalanced, and his acrobatic volley crept into the bottom corner, while Corvi was left stranded. ............

The second half began with a glimmer of hope for the Crociati, as Cambiaso failed to properly deal with a square ball across the face of the goal. The Juventus full-back beat his goalkeeper with a strange touch.

Nevertheless, the visitors swiftly restored their two-goal lead from a free-kick. McKennie’s header was denied by the woodwork, but David pounced on the rebound, and while his effort was already heading towards the net, Bremer dispelled all doubts by latching onto the ball to complete his brace.

A few minutes later, Conceicao tried to send a curling effort towards the bottom corner, and Corvi’s tame save presented David with the easiest of tap-ins, allowing the Canadian to extend his goalscoring run.

In stoppage time, Juventus thought they had their fifth, but Lois Openda’s goal was disallowed by the VAR due to an offside position. ............

Parma 1-4 Juventus

Goals: 14′ 54′ Bremer (J), 37′ McKennie (J), 51′ Cambiaso (OG, P), 64′ David (J).

Juventus : Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer (65′ Gatti), Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao (65′ Kostic), McKennie (74′ Cabal), Yildiz (45′ st Miretti); David (80′ Openda).

Yellow cards: 17′ Conceicao (J), 22′ Bremer (J), 25′ McKennie (J), 86′ Circati (P).

PARMA, ITALY - FEBRUARY 01: Bremer of Juventus celebrates scoring his team's first goal with teammate Francisco Conceicao during the Serie A match between Parma Calcio 1913 and Juventus FC at Stadio Ennio Tardini on February 01, 2026 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images)

A brace from centre-back Gleison Bremer helped Juventus on their way to a 4-1 victory away against Parma in Serie A on Sunday night. ............

Parma: Corvi 6; Delprato 5, Circati 5, Troilo 5, Valeri 5; Keita 5, Nicolussi Caviglia 6 (Sorensen 5.5), Bernabe 5 (Estevez 6); Oristanio 5 (Britschgi 5), Ondrejka 6 (Elphege 6); Pellegrino 5.

Best Parma player: Corvi 6 –  ............

Coach: Carlos Cuesta 5 –  ............

Juventus: Di Gregorio 6.5; Kalulu 7, Bremer 8 (Gatti 6), Kelly 7, Cambiaso 5; Locatelli 6.5, Thuram 6; Conceicao 7 (Kostic 6), McKennie 7.5 (Cabal 6), Yildiz 6 (Miretti 6.5); David 7 (Openda 6).

Best Juventus player: Bremer 8 – A magical evening for the Brazilian centre-back, who came away with two goals to his name and was also afforded a rest after just 65 minutes. There were also excellent performances from the likes of Weston McKennie, Lloyd Kelly and Francisco Conceicao.

Coach: Luciano Spalletti 8 – The Bianconeri head coach said that he wanted to see a reaction after the lacklustre 0-0 draw against AS Monaco in the Champions League earlier this week. This was a fantastic response. Juventus were always a threat on the attack, they were entertaining and had the ball in the back of the net on five occasions. It took a freak Cambiaso own-goal for them to concede, as well.

PARMA, ITALY - FEBRUARY 01: Weston McKennie of Juventus scores his team's second goal during the Serie A match between Parma Calcio 1913 and Juventus FC at Stadio Ennio Tardini on February 01, 2026 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images)

Gleison Bremer and Weston McKennie were full of praise for Luciano Spalletti after Juventus swept Parma aside 4-1. ‘He’s unique, I never in my career worked with a coach like this.’

The Bianconeri are keeping themselves in the thick of the race for a top four finish, further boosted by Como and Atalanta holding each other to a 0-0 draw earlier today. ............

“It’s a wonderful sensation to score goals, especially as I was out for basically a year and that was tough. I feel better, the leg is responding, and I am glad to help the team, what counts is that we won,” Bremer said.

“The coach is very strong, you can see that he totally changed the way we play. Even when we win, he tries to keep us on our toes. We are still missing something, he always says so, but we’re on the right track.

“This is certainly the best Juventus spirit I’ve experienced here. I only felt this kind of positivity at the start under Motta, but then I got injured.

“Spalletti arrived with his mentality and you can see the difference he makes,” concluded Bremer. ............

“We work on the wall in training, so that’s what the celebration was, taking those steps,” McKennie said.

“Spalletti is unique, as I have never in my career worked with a coach like this. He is so good, works with the team spirit, I’m really happy and I think everyone here is happy to be working with him.”

PARMA, ITALY - FEBRUARY 01: Luciano Spalletti, Head Coach of Juventus, looks on prior to the Serie A match between Parma Calcio 1913 and Juventus FC at Stadio Ennio Tardini on February 01, 2026 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images)

Luciano Spalletti explains Pierre Kalulu’s positioning at Juventus, reveals a Kenan Yildiz fitness problem, and assures they ‘don’t want Mauro Icardi’ from Galatasaray. ............

“It is better not to look at statistics, as often those come from static situations that do not influence the result, as football is more about sudden changes of pace, duels and second balls, that is where you get into the real game. Whoever is more wide awake there can win the match”. ............

“What is fundamental for me is having a rapport with a team that wants to enjoy its football, because that is how you unleash the quality we saw today. They must never be disconnected from the match, so always plugged in and ready for the next situation.

“Every game is a step for us to learn, and it is never definitive, it is a process that keeps going. In any case, I told them they shouldn’t compliment me, but instead praise their teammates. This group has the potential to be a great team, thanks also to that unity and enjoyment they have in training and in a match situation. They combine enthusiasm with determination, no matter what you ask of them.” ............

“This position is crucial to give alternatives and create some chaos in the marking of the opposition team. He has this ability to start runs at the right time. A team must have this ability to go from tight to stretched out in a moment, knowing when to play short and when to go long,” noted Spalletti.

“As you mentioned Di Lorenzo, I want to send him my best wishes to return to the field as soon as possible, because he deserves all the best. When I saw him hurt like that, it pained all of us. He is the master at that positioning between the lines, he is a complete player, and Kalulu is getting to that level too. He dictates the tempo for his teammates.” ............

“Yildiz told us during the first half he felt a bit of pain, but he could make it to half-time,” explained Spalletti.

“We trusted him, but he now has a bit of pain even when walking, so we have to evaluate it, but it shouldn’t be too serious. I think it’ll be tough to get him ready for Thursday.” ............

“I get asked about Icardi and Osimhen in a press conference, so I can only speak highly of Icardi as a player when he was in my team,” explained Spalletti.

“There were other situations that he took into the locker room that were about his home life and didn’t belong in the locker room, so I had to talk to him. When you are in a dressing room, you cannot keep the door open to let in other matters.

“I had to make a decision then, and I decided to exclude him, so he had a reaction based on that. He is a good lad, a lovely person, and a fantastic striker. But we don’t want Icardi. Is that ok?

“If I speak highly of someone then it goes all over the headlines that I want to sign him, but it’s not true. We are looking for a player with specific characteristics, if we don’t find him, then we’ll stay as we are. After all, McKennie is as good a hitman as anyone, you saw him again tonight.”

Juventus player ratings vs Parma: Magical night for Bremer

PARMA, ITALY - FEBRUARY 01: Bremer of Juventus scores his team's third goal during the Serie A match between Parma Calcio 1913 and Juventus FC at Stadio Ennio Tardini on February 01, 2026 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images)

In the 23rd round of Serie A, Juventus outplayed and outpowered their hosts Parma en route towards a commanding victory at the Ennio Tardini. ............

Juventus XI (4-2-3-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 7

The goalkeeper produced a series of important saves to keep Juventus ahead, but was denied a clean sheet by his own teammate, Cambiaso.

Pierre Kalulu – 7

Another convincing display at right-back from the ever-present Frenchman, who provided the assist for McKennie’s goal, and set up Openda with a brilliant play.

Gleison Bremer – 8

A night to remember for the Brazilian defender who scored a rare brace. Placed a powerful header past the Edoardo Corvi on the opener, and then latched onto a loose ball to swiftly restore the Old Lady’s two-goal lead. He also kept Mateo Pellegrino at bay, which was his original task, lest we forget.

Lloyd Kelly – 7

 ............

Andrea Cambiaso – 5

The Italy international’s underwhelming run continues. He squandered a couple of promising chances in attack and scored a comical own goal with his shocking attempt to clear the ball.

Manuel Locatelli – 7.5

The Juventus captain is suddenly emerging as one of the finest Registas in the country. He picked up his teammates with fabulous long balls, including one that culminated in McKennie’s goal. The midfielder also stamped his authority in the middle of the park.

Khephren Thuram – 6

 ............

Francisco Conceicao – 7

A superb evening for the Portuguese winger, who was unlucky not to score a couple of early chances, but ended up delivering the assist for Bremer’s opener. His last contribution before exiting the pitch was instigating David’s fourth goal by forcing a shaky save out of Corvi.

Weston McKennie – 7.5

The Texan’s spectacular run continues, as he got on the scoresheet with an acrobatic volley. He was also part of the build-up on Juve’s third and fourth goals, and had set up Conceicao, whose shot crashed against the woodwork earlier in the match.

Kenan Yildiz – 6

 ............

Jonathan David – 7

The Canadian may have scored the easiest tap-in of his career, but it was a fitting reward for his generous efforts. He had provided the ‘pre-assist’ for McKennie’s goal, and was in the right place to redirect the ball goalwards on the rebound, which allowed Bremer to poach his second on the night.

Substitutes

Fabio Miretti – 6

 ............

Federico Gatti – 6

 ............

Filip Kostic – 6

 ............

Juan Cabal – N/A

Lois Openda – N/A

Parma 1 - Juventus 4: Initial reaction and random observations

Parma Calcio 1913 v Juventus FC - Serie A

The month of February has the potential to be very good for Juventus. It also has the potential to be a very tough slog knowing that there are big games pretty much everywhere you look on the schedule. The beginning of the month, however, was one of the final chances between now and the March international break in which Luciano Spalletti’s squad will be facing a provincial side that is looking at a potential (likely?) relegation fight.

And Juventus put down the hammer as you hoped they would against said provinciale.

Juventus could have been up 2-0 within the first six minutes. They then actually took a two-goal lead heading into the half after a very strong opening 45 minutes at the Tardini. And even with Andreaa Cambiaso doing his latest boneheaded defensive error that (directly) led to a goal, Juventus then responded with two more goals to roll to a 4-1 lead over a struggling Parma side on Sunday night in Emilia-Romagna. The win, yet another very good showing against those sometimes difficult to deal with provincial clubs, propelled Juventus up into fourth place as we wait to see what Roma will do against Udinese on Monday night. ............

Juventus won big, they scored from a corner kick and later a set piece — that had a nifty little routine to it! — all the while dominating a Parma side that has struggled to score this season for large swaths of the game.

It was a pretty good night to kick off a pretty good month.

You got Bremer scoring twice in the same game. You got Weston McKennie doing Weston McKennie things and scoring yet another great goal as we continue to wonder what his contract status for next season is. We got Jonathan David out here being an absolute fox in the box and scoring a simple goal to put the cherry on top of his improving run of form since the turn of the new year. You got a lot of good things from Jvuentus on Sunday against Parma that totally outweigh all of the facepalming we all did when we saw Cambiaso score the own goal that momentarily made a 2-1 game out of nowhere.

But the thing about this Spalletti squad is that they are just continuing to show more and more that they are simply under the direction of a better manager than the previous two coaches at this club. Spalletti has gotten them to play his brand of ball — they’re pushing for more goals regardless of the score and showing to be a pretty reliable on the defensive end following all of the troubles at the back under Igor Tudor. Yes, having somebody like Bremer helps a ton because he’s just that good, but it’s also the manager raising the level of the players that he has.

One 4-1 win over Parma doesn’t prove that. But it’s the latest instance in which you can see just what kind of difference this Juventus has to it as compared to when the Bianconeri beat this same Parma squad on the opening weekend of the season.

This team is confident, they’re playing well and they’re getting contributions from all over the squad. That’s a huge thing when it was just a few months ago we were wondering about how this team is basically Kenan Yildiz and if anybody else is going to actually come and help him out.

I don’t have those same worries now. That is thanks to the work Spalletti has done since taking over for Tudor a little over three months ago. There have been a lot of games over that time, but three months really isn’t a whole lot of time in the grand scheme of things. That, again, speaks to the work Spalletti has done. ............

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS

  • Let us hope that the initial reports from DAZN Italia about Kenan Yildiz asking to be subbed off as the halftime break approached because of fatigue are that and only that. This is not the time for Kenan to be suddenly missing games due to any sort of injury no matter how minor it may be. (But also totally understandable if there were to be a case of muscle fatigue because of how much he’s played this season.)
  • This really should have been a clean sheet for Juventus. Who was responsible for marking Cambiaso on the back post on that cross into the box?
  • I’m glad it was a 4-1 win with plenty of room to spare so that I can make that joke and not be absolutely incensed because Cambiaso’s absolutely stupid own goal cost Juventus points. Or even caused Juve to just hunker down and try and defend a thin lead. ............
  • But real talk, though: When did Andrea Cambiaso become Marco Motta?
  • You know who had a very good game? Michele Di Gregorio, the man who is in Juventus’ goal with whom folks love to point out even the smallest of issues. Di Gregorio made a couple of big, big saves — and even the more impressive when you consider he had little to do outside of that for extremely long stretches of time against Parma.
  • PAY WESTON McKENNIE WHAT HE WANTS AND EXTEND HIS CONTRACT ASAP.
  • Outside of one very bad giveaway, Manuel Locatelli’s passing was once again on point in the win over Parma. As a team, Parma completed around 350 passes. Locatelli alone completed 105 passes. He completed almost 90% of those passes. He was close to dead on perfect with his long-range passes. It was once again a sign of improvement for him under Spalletti.
  • Unfortunately, we can’t necessarily boast about the performance from his midfield mate Khephren Thuram against Parma. At least he is continuing to be one of the creative forces of the goal celebrations.
  • Pretty sure KT just needs some rest. Hopefully that happens in the Coppa Italia on Thursday. ............
  • That said, Francisco Conceição missed a couple of huge goal chances within the first six minutes and then got a really dumb yellow card that could have been more than that with a different referee. At least he had a really nice assist to Bremer on the opening goal, so at least there’s that.
  • Another Pierre Kalulu assist. Rack ‘em up!!!
  • That header from Bremer was an absolute bullet. That needed some serious velocity on the ball for him to get it in at the near post — and he did exactly that.
  • Since his brutal PK miss against Lecce, David has four goals and three assists. Those are the counting numbers. There’s also the unofficial contributions to goals like he had on McKennie’s goal. This is a man who is starting to hit his stride and take advantage of the faith Spalletti has shown in him. More of this, JD. ............
  • Bremer good.
  • Lloyd Kelly good. Lloyd Kelly is now consistently good. What a difference 12 months makes.
  • It didn’t count due to Openda being offside, but that sure was a nice pass from Fabio Miretti to set him up.
  • In conclusion, EXTEND WESTON’S CONTRACT. (Had to say it one more time.)
  • That’s a pretty good start to the month of February. I certainly preferred that compared to how Juve ended the month of January, but that’s just one man’s opinion.
