MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli HT 0-0: Marchisio rattles Milan Sep 20, 2014 Both goalkeepers have been kept busy and Claudio Marchisio hit the upright, but at half-time it’s Milan 0-0 Juventus. This was a top of the table showdown between two of the only three teams with a 100 per cent record after two rounds. Max Allegri returned to face the club that fired him in January, while Pippo Inzaghi took on his old club too. Andrea Pirlo was injured and Arturo Vidal only fit for the bench, but Giorgio Chiellini had his first Serie A appearance of the season. The Rossoneri were fresh from an epic 5-4 victory at Parma, but lost Diego Lopez, Alex, Riccardo Saponara, Riccardo Montolivo, Michael Essien and the suspended Daniele Bonera. San Siro was completely sold out with 78,681 tickets spectators and the Curva had a large choreography reading: ‘A year of rage to become great again.’ Roberto Pereyra had the first chance, firing over the bar, but after a period of Juventus pressure early on, it was Milan’s turn to pin the visitors back with Andrea Poli’s effort charged down. Keisuke Honda got between defenders for a splendid header on Zapata’s cross, forcing a great one-handed save out of Gianluigi Buffon from eight yards. Christian Abbiati also had to make himself big at Fernando Llorente’s feet moments later after a smart Stephan Lichtsteiner flick. Abbiati was again called upon to get down and palm away a Pereyra snapshot at full stretch, then from the corner Leonardo Bonucci sprung the offside trap for a backwards header over the bar. Juve lost Martin Caceres to a left thigh injury, making way for Angelo Ogbonna. Claudio Marchisio unleashed a sudden screamer from distance that beat Abbiati only to crack against the base of the near post. Lichtsteiner’s solo run reached a dead end and sparked a counter that saw Jeremy Menez sting Buffon’s gloves. Milan 0-0 Juventus (Half-Time) Milan: Abbiati; Abate, Rami, Zapata, De Sciglio; Poli, De Jong, Muntari; Honda, Menez, El Shaarawy Juventus: Buffon; Caceres (Ogbonna 35), Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Pereyra, Marchisio, Pogba, Asamoah; Llorente, Tevez Ref: Rizzoli http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Line-ups: Milan-Juventus Sep 20, 2014 There are multiple layers to tonight’s Scudetto showdown and grudge match between Max Allegri’s Juventus and Pippo Inzaghi’s Milan. After two rounds this season only three teams have a 100 per cent record in Serie A: Roma, Milan and Juventus. At least one of them has to give tonight, but there’s more than just the top of the table at stake. Allegri returns to San Siro as an opponent for the first time since he was sacked by Milan in January and he’s facing ex-Juventus striker Inzaghi on the Rossoneri bench. These two men do not get along and reportedly had an altercation last year when Inzaghi was still in charge of the Primavera youth team. It would also have been a comeback for Andrea Pirlo, but he is ruled out by injury along with Andrea Barzagli and Luca Marrone. Arturo Vidal is fit enough for the bench after picking up a muscular problem on international duty with Chile. Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente start in attack, as the Argentine is fresh from breaking his Champions League drought with a brace in their 2-0 win over Malmo. Milan have to reshuffle following their remarkable 5-4 victory at Parma last weekend. Daniele Bonera was sent off in that tie and is therefore suspended, while Diego Lopez, Alex, Riccardo Saponara and Riccardo Montolivo are unavailable. There had been doubts over Michael Essien and he's not even on the bench. Fernando Torres is on the bench for the first time in his Serie A career, but Inzaghi sticks with Jeremy Menez – who scored three goals in two games, including a delightful back-heel flick at the Tardini. Stephan El Shaarawy returns from injury with Keisuke Honda in the trident. Philippe Mexes and Cristian Zaccardo are dropped after refusing summer transfers, so Colombia international Cristian Zapata starts at centre-back. These teams faced off in a 45-minute pre-season Trofeo TIM match last month, Milan emerging 1-0 winners thanks to Honda. Milan: Abbiati; Abate, Rami, Zapata, De Sciglio; Poli, De Jong, Muntari; Honda, Menez, El Shaarawy Milan bench: Agazzi, Gori, Albertazzi, Armero, Mexes, Zaccardo, Van Ginkel, Bonaventura, Pazzini, Torres, Niang Juventus: Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Pereyra, Marchisio, Pogba, Asamoah; Llorente, Tevez Juventus bench: Storari, Rubinho, Romulo, Ogbonna, Padoin, Pepe, Vidal, Evra, Mattiello, Coman, Morata, Giovinco http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Galliani: 'Inzaghi-Allegri problems' Sep 20, 2014 Milan CEO Adriano Galliani hinted at problems between Max Allegri and Pippo Inzaghi ahead of tonight’s game. “Tonight’s match could change the course of the season on a psychological level, even if it’s just the third round,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia. “If it goes well for us, it would mean a huge amount and be decisive. Just filling San Siro with so much enthusiasm is already a victory for Inzaghi. “Since he arrived, we’ve been breathing an atmosphere of enthusiasm around the club that hadn’t been here for over a year.” Last year there was reportedly a physical altercation between Inzaghi and new Juventus Coach Allegri when Pippo was still in charge of the Primavera youth team. “I’ve seen worse,” smiled Galliani when asked if it was true. Massimo Ambrosini, a former Milan player who is now a Sky Sport Italia pundit, added that it was “no secret” that Allegri and Inzaghi had problems. "It started after Pippo was left out of the Champions League squad. It wasn't so much the decision as the way it was communicated to him." http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Marotta: 'Milan's moment of truth' Sep 20, 2014 Juventus director general said tonight is “a moment of truth for Milan,” but the Bianconeri have nothing to prove. Marotta spoke to Sky Sport Italia and was asked whether this was a moment of truth for the two teams. “It’s a moment of truth for Milan. We’ve had a consolidated squad for years and the only real change is the Coach, but there can be no doubts over the strength of Juventus. “Milan are a dangerous opponent, especially now they are very enthusiastic after a great start to the season.” Many Juve fans were not happy with the decision to hire Massimiliano Allegri, who was fired by Milan in January. “Allegri is suited to our needs and the club has to support the Coach in his activity, while he is making the most of the resources at his disposal. “We understand the criticism, as that happens in football, but we are convinced we made the right choice. “We are Juventus, we are the leading champions, so even when playing against the so-called provincial teams they give the performance of their lives. We are able to fire up our opponents. “The players at Juventus know this jersey weighs heavily on their shoulders and they must represent the prestige of this club.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Asamoah: 'Juve ready for Milan' Sep 20, 2014 Kwadwo Asamoah said Juventus are “above all ready psychologically” for tonight’s Milan showdown. “We know this is a very important game tonight, so we are above all ready psychologically,” Asamoah told Sky Sport Italia. He is not the only Ghana international on the field, as Milan start Sulley Muntari. “We didn’t talk about this match. We do tend to talk, but not this week...” he laughed. “We are facing a motivated Milan side who are riding on enthusiasm, but we are ready.” Asamoah returns to the flank after playing in central midfield during the 2-0 Champions League victory over Malmo. Patrice Evra is replaced by Roberto Pereyra, who was suspended in Europe. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Inzaghi: 'I'd marry Menez!' Sep 20, 2014 Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi joked he was so “seduced” by Jeremy Menez that he “intends to marry him!” The versatile French forward arrived as a free agent from Paris Saint-Germain and has scored three goals in the first two Serie A games. “He’s not a surprise for me,” Coach Inzaghi told Le Parisien newspaper ahead of tonight’s showdown with Juventus. “Adriano Galliani had the idea of signing him. I knew of his technique and pace, but wanted to know what he thought and so I met him in Ibiza. “He seduced me in five minutes and at that point I said what I expected from him. I realised that I was faced with a lad who was very open, kind and professional. “What he has since done on the pitch proves I was right. His approach is perfect. He could’ve run into trouble at the start, but wiped all that out and is really helping the team.” Inzaghi took the praise for Menez to a new level and joked: “I intend to marry him! He is a generous lad and from the first few days made me realise he was important, so I gave him the opportunity he was craving. “He’d like to play at Euro 2016 for France. If he continues like this, he will do.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Abbiati: 'Hunger and aggression' Sep 20, 2014 Christian Abbiati assured Milan will face Juventus “with hunger and sporting aggression” tonight. Diego Lopez is injured, so Abbiati goes in goal against one of his former clubs. “It will be wonderful to play at a sold out San Siro, as that is really satisfying and motivating,” Abbiati told Milan Channel. The Rossoneri are joint top of the table with a 100 per cent record, sharing that spot with Juventus and Roma. “It won’t be easy for us, but I’m sure it is going to be a great game. We are doing great work and are on the right track, but there’s a long way to go and we don’t achieve anything after two games. “Tonight will be a real test against a team that dominated Serie A in recent years. We’ll go out there with hunger and sporting aggression.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli MATCH PREVIEW Sep 20, 2014 Milan and Juventus head into a top-of-the-table clash both looking to maintain 100 per cent starts to the Serie A season. Filippo Inzaghi's boyish exuberance will likely never be curbed, and he must have thought that he was in a candy shop last Sunday as the former goal poacher witnessed his Rossoneri score five away from home. Yet for all their hard work going forward, the team were leaking goals at the other end - even so, post-match to Sky Sport Italia, Pippo's pride shone through. “I saw the moves that we tried out in training used to score great goals, but I also saw that we conceded on every chance that we allowed. It was a very open game, but I think there can be few doubts that Milan deserved to win.” Inzaghi did however acknowledge the frailties of a team who have almost conceded as many goals as they have scored in their two opening games. With this in mind, the visit of La Vecchia Signora could prove to be a fist-fight too far as not only has The Old Lady yet to concede this term, she also packs quite a punch. The Bianconeri are on a nine match winning streak stretching back to their last League defeat against Napoli in March earlier this year. A slender opening day win over Chievo has since been consolidated by 2-0 victories over Udinese and Malmo, thanks in part to three goals from a rejuvenated Carlos Tevez. Massimiliano Allegri's decision to start the Argentine last weekend was thought to be a risky ploy but it proved dividends and perhaps more importantly from the club's perspective, it allowed them a winning start in the Champions League. Too many draws cost Juve qualification from their group last season, so the Coach will be encouraged by their winning start. Milan are without the injured Riccardo Montolivo, Diego Lopez, Alex and Riccardo Saponara. Giorgio Chiellini returns from suspension whilst Luca Marrone and Andrea Pirlo are injured. Arturo Vidal also remains a doubt for the Bianconeri. Keep an eye on: Fernando Torres (Milan) - The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker resumed training this week along with Stephen El Shaarawy as they both tried to shake off ankle injuries. The Spaniard is yet to debut for Milan following his two-year loan move and is looking for redemption - and to prove he still knows his route to goal. Form Guide: Milan ( - - -W W) Juventus ( - - -W W) Last season: Milan 0-2 Juventus Stat fact: Milan have won their last six consecutive Serie A games at San Siro but Juventus have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last nine away games in the League. Milan (probable): Abiati; Abate, Rami, Zapata, De Sciglio; Poli, De Jong, Muntari; Honda, Menez, Bonaventura Suspended: Bonera Juventus (probable): Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Pogba, Marchisio, Pereyra; Evra, Llorente, Tevez Suspended: None http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Tevez: 'Milan, what are you made of?' Sep 20, 2014 Carlos Tevez challenged Milan to “show what they’re made of” in tonight’s top of the table clash with Juventus. It kicks off at 20.45 CET at a sold out San Siro in front of 78,681 spectators. “Milan-Juventus is a big game in a legendary stadium. Playing it is wonderful and it’d be even better to win,” the Argentine told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. “Milan are a real united team and so far this season they are all rowing in the same direction. I am curious to see how they react under pressure, because it is up to them to show what they’re made of, whereas we are at the top for three years. I expect an entertaining match and if we win it will be a strong signal. “I do not agree with those who say the Scudetto race is a head-to-head between Juve and Roma, as the Milanese clubs also seem strong to me and ready for the challenge. “Stephan El Shaarawy is one of my favourite players, as he has exceptional natural qualities and can become a leader.” This is a new beginning for Juventus too, as Antonio Conte left two days into pre-season training to make way for ex-Milan Coach Max Allegri. “I could already sense in May that Conte was going to leave,” confessed Tevez. “Allegri is more relaxed and he knows a lot about football. He has already earned everyone’s respect.” The Bianconeri began their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Malmo thanks to Tevez’s brace. “The Champions League mustn’t be an obsession. We should take it one game at a time.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Milan-Juventus Preview: Allegri demands Bianconeri show no fear The coach returns to San Siro looking to extend his side's 100% record in the league while bringing an end to the Rossoneri's. Sep 20, 2014 Massimiliano Allegri is urging Juventus to have no fear when he takes his new side to visit former club AC Milan in Serie A on Saturday. The 47-year-old left San Siro in January this year after a poor run of results saw the club languishing in mid-table. Milan eventually finished eighth under Clarence Seedorf, while Allegri was appointed as Juve boss following the surprise exit of Antonio Conte in the summer. Having won three straight Scudetti with Conte at the helm, Juve are looking to Allegri to continue that run of dominance, as well as targeting greater success in Europe after their group-stage exit in the Champions League last season. Allegri has made a solid start to his tenure, winning each of the opening two league fixtures, but Saturday's trip to Milan represents a stern test of his team's credentials. "For me it will be a game like no other - I would not be human if I said otherwise," he said. "I'm not a machine, I'm a man. "Right now the thing we must do is to not have fear. We are not favourites because I think that they, like us, have prepared for the match and they are preparing in the best way because it is Milan-Juventus. "It will be a fascinating challenge, beautiful as it has always been, in a full stadium and I believe that such a challenge at this time can only be good for Italian football. "It will definitely be a good game, where you will see two teams trying to win over one another, this is the important thing." Like Juve, Milan have also started with two wins from their two matches, with last weekend's thrilling 5-4 victory over Parma a sign of both their attacking prowess and defensive vulnerability. Now under the leadership of Filippo Inzaghi - who played for both clubs and worked under Allegri at Milan - the seven-time European champions are aiming to return to former glories after a disappointing 2013-14 campaign. "I look at the growth of my team and say that perhaps it would be better to deal with them [Juve] in a few months, when we could have a greater certainty," Inzaghi said. "Juve are stronger, they have not conceded a goal [in a competitive match] since April 28. We do not know how far behind Juve we are, but we do know where we have started from. "We cannot expect to be at their level, but in a single game a lot can happen. We know of their strength, but we do not go out there already beaten. "We will play 11 against 11 to the best of our ability, hoping to grow further. Again, San Siro with the crowd can help us to do our work." Juve could be boosted by the return of Arturo Vidal, who is fit enough for at least a place on the bench after a knee injury, although Andrea Pirlo (hamstring) and Andrea Barzagli (foot) are not yet available. For the hosts, new signing Fernando Torres could make his debut after missing the win at Parma with an ankle problem, while Stephan El Shaarawy is also back in the squad after a similar injury. Daniele Bonera is suspended after being sent off at Parma, while goalkeeper Diego Lopez (thigh) and midfielders Riccardo Saponara (knee) and Riccardo Montolivo (broken leg) remain absent. MILAN - JUVENTUS - Saturday, September 20th, 2014 8:45 PM Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) Stadium - Milan Referee: Nicola Rizzoli Tevez: Milan are Juventus Scudetto rivals The Bianconeri striker talked up Saturday's opponent's chances of topping Serie A this season and highlighted Stephan El Shaarawy as their most impressive player. Sep 20, 2014 Carlos Tevez has emphasised that AC Milan are major rivals with Juventus for the Scudetto in 2014-15. The Italian clubs - who currently occupy the top two in Serie A - clash on Saturday as both look to continue their 100 per cent start to the season. Milan struggled in the previous campaign, the first half of which current Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri was in charge at San Siro, but Tevez believes that the Rossoneri will be back in the hunt for silverware with Filippo Inzaghi at the helm. "In Milan, I see a real team, which have a compact design," the striker told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. "They are all rowing in the same direction. "I want to see what they are made of. I'm curious to find out how they will react under pressure. The game is being played at San Siro and such a prestigious club cannot hide in front of their fans in a stadium that is part of the history of world football. "I expect a good game. And by winning, Juve would send a strong signal, even if the third matchday is a ridiculous time to talk about decisive points. "I disagree that the Scudetto will be a two-horse race between Juve and Roma. Again, Milan are equipped to do very well. And history compels them to aim for the Scudetto." Tevez also pinpointed fellow forward Stephan El Shaarawy as the player that catches his eye the most in Milan's team. "I like El Shaarawy, he has exceptional qualities," the Argentine added. "I think it's time for him to take Milan's fate on to his shoulders. He has the quality to do so." http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
