Tevez relieved after father's kidnap The striker's Dad was car-jacked by a group of men near Argentina's capital of Buenos Aires but is now back with his family. Jul 30, 2014 Carlos Tevez has confirmed his father is safe and well after his kidnapping ordeal and thanked fans for their messages of support. Segundo Tevez was reportedly carjacked by a group of men in Moron, west of Argentina's capital city of Buenos Aries, on Tuesday. Argentinian police stated that the men had made calls demanding a ransom, although Carlos Tevez's lawyer, Gustavo Galasso, later told television channel C5N the Juventus striker's father had been freed and was "in good shape". Carlos Tevez Tweeted: "I thank everyone for their support always. "I'm able to tell you my father is okay, safe and sound. That's what's most important. "I also thank.. Buenos Aires and federal and anti-kidnapping police [forces] for their support for my family." Tevez was reportedly set to fly back to his homeland on Tuesday, but is thought to have remained in Italy following news of his father's release.

Tevez: 'My father is safe' Jul 29, 2014 Juventus striker Carlos Tevez broke his silence on the kidnapping ordeal. “My father is well, healthy and safe.” Segundo Tevez was kidnapped this morning while driving his car and police confirmed a ransom was paid for his release after eight hours. “I thank everyone for their support,” wrote Tevez on his Twitter account. “My father is well, healthy and safe. That’s the most important thing! I also thank Daniel Scioli, Mauricio Macri and the Buenos Aires federal police anti-kidnapping department for supporting my family. “I ask you to come together and fight to take the country forward. Because here we should not pull for any political party, as we have to fight together. "With sadness I admit it will be easy to criticise my country, but with all its flaws and virtues it is the country I love." Tevez had been on his way to the airport for a flight to Buenos Aires when news came through his father had been released. The forward therefore remained in Turin, but won’t take part in tomorrow’s game against Cesena. Mauricio Macri and Daniel Scioli are the governors of Buenos Aires province and the city of Buenos Aires.

Carlos Tevez pays $400,000 ransom for kidnapped father Eight hours after being taken hostage in Argentina, Segundo Tevez was let go by his captors in exchange for the alleged six-figure payoff. Jul 29, 2014 Juventus star Carlos Tevez reportedly paid $400,000 for the release of his father from kidnappers in Argentina, where criminals frequently target high-profile athletes and their families in exchange for lucrative ransoms. Eight hours after being taken hostage in Moron, a suburb Buenos Aires, Segundo Tevez was let go by his captors at 2:00 p.m. local time Tuesday, Ole of Argentina reported. The release was announced by the family's lawyer. "He is doing well," attorney Gustavo Galass said in a brief statement to the media. Argentina's secretary of homeland security, Sergio Berni, confirmed that Tevez suffered an "extortive kidnapping" while vowing to bring those responsible to justice. "We will search for them under every bed if necessary and we'll find them" Tevez left the Juventus preseason camp in Italy and is flying to Argentina to be with his father, who is actually a maternal uncle who legally adopted him years ago. The kidnappers were reportedly seeking a quick payout before discovering their hostage's identity, which led to hours of negotiations and demands before the $400,000 ransom was agreed upon. Tevez's lawyer provided no details about an alleged payment. Tevez is the latest Argentine soccer star to pay off kidnappers in exchange for a family member’s freedom. Fellow former Boca Juniors idol Juan Roman Riquelme was forced to negotiate the release of his brother from captors in 2002. That same year, siblings Diego and Gabriel Milito spent $100,000 for the return of their father, who was kidnapped a block away from his house.

Allegri's Juventus XI in Cesena Jul 29, 2014 Juventus have already named their starting XI against Cesena tomorrow, including Andrea Pirlo and Stephan Lichtsteiner. The Bianconeri will play the newly-promoted side at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi on Wednesday evening. Coach Massimiliano Allegri has released his initial line-up for the pre-season friendly. Carlos Tevez is not included, as he is on leave following the kidnap and release of his father in Argentina. Gigi Buffon has also been left behind, apparently due to injury, so Marco Storari and Sebastian Giovinco start. This is the second game under Allegri, the other being a shock 3-2 defeat to amateur side Lucento. New signing Roberto Pereyra will start after his move from Udinese, while Allegri continues to test the four-man defence. Many will be curious to see where the Coach places Pirlo, as a discussion over his position prompted the midfielder to quit Milan when Allegri was in charge. Juventus: Storari, Sorensen, Bonucci, Chiellini, Lichtsteiner, Padoin, Pirlo, Pereyra, Motta, Giovinco, Llorente

Tevez in Turin after kidnap Jul 29, 2014 Carlos Tevez has returned to Turin after his father was freed by kidnappers in Argentina, but won’t play Cesena-Juventus. The striker had reportedly been rushing to an airport for the first flight to Buenos Aires when news emerged his father had been kidnapped this morning. However, Segundo Tevez (and not the previously reported name Juan Carlos Cabral) is now with local police – it’s not clear whether a ransom was paid. Juventus have left Tevez out of their squad for tomorrow’s friendly in Cesena, citing “family reasons.” However, the forward is staying in Turin after all.

Tevez’s father freed after kidnap The Juventus striker’s father has been released by criminals after being held for a ransom for over eight hours. Jul 29, 2014 According to reports in Argentina, Carlos Tevez’s father has been freed after being kidnapped and held for ransom for over eight hours. The incident happened in the outskirts of the capital city Buenos Aires at around 7am when Juan Alberto Cabral’s car was hijacked, Argentina newspaper La Nacion has reported. The offenders contacted Tevez’s family and made an initial demand that was much lower than a second request for ransom a short while later. Police investigated the incident and Tevez travelled to his home country to help deal with the matter.

Tevez father released Jul 29, 2014 There are reports from Argentina that Carlos Tevez’s father has been released by kidnappers. Segundo Tevez was kidnapped this morning when he was driving in the Morón area and that two calls have been received asking for a ransom. Clarin now claim he has already been released and is now with local police. It is speculated the first request was relatively low and the second much higher, as the kidnappers had not realised their victim was the father of one of Argentina’s most famous football players. Italian media maintain Tevez has already left the Juventus training camp in Turin and is flying to Buenos Aires today.

Tevez father kidnapped Jul 29, 2014 Argentine newspaper Clarin claims the father of Juventus star Carlos Tevez has been kidnapped. It is reported Segundo Tevez was carjacked at 5am this morning in Morón and that two calls have been received asking for a ransom. Some sources suggest a ransom has already been paid to the captors. It is speculated the first request was relatively low and the second much higher, as the kidnappers had not realised their victim was the father of one of Argentina’s most famous football players. This would suggest it was not a targeted attack, but rather they had spotted the expensive car and made their move. Italian media now maintain Tevez has already left the Juventus training camp in Turin and is flying to Buenos Aires today.
