Juventus bring in Padoin

Jan 30, 2012

Juventus have brought their January spending to an end with the capture of Simone Padoin from Atalanta.

The 27-year-old will officially arrive in Turin later today after the Bianconeri failed to land Radja Nainggolan.

The Cagliari midfielder had become their top target to reinforce their midfield, but tempting the Sardinian club into a sale proved impossible.

“He’s not a last choice for us,” Juventus director general Beppe Marotta noted. “The idea came to us during our daily transfer talks.

“Nainggolan was a target, but we had an urgent need for a midfielder and we could not wait. Our signings have now come to an end.”

Padoin began his career in the Atalanta youth sector and returned to the club in 2007 after a stint at Vicenza.

It’s unclear at this stage whether the former Italian Under-21 international will arrive on a permanent basis or on loan.

Conflicting reports say that he has been signed outright for €4.5m, while others claim he will move to Turin on a temporary basis with a buy-out option set at the same fee.

Padoin’s arrival should now allow Michele Pazienza to leave Juve with Udinese, Genoa and Napoli all possible destinations.

Juve announce Padoin swoop

Jan 31, 2012

Juventus have confirmed that they have signed Simone Padoin from Atalanta on a permanent basis.

The midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year contract after a €5m fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Padoin, 27, is a midfielder who has actually played for the Old Lady in the past after he was allowed to briefly join them on a tour of America.

The former Vicenza player, who grew up in the Atalanta youth system, was targeted after Juve failed to sign Radja Nainggolan from Cagliari and Fiorentina’s Valon Behrami.

Padoin: Juve unique opportunity

Jan 31, 2012

Simone Padoin has reflected upon his deadline-day transfer from Atalanta to Juventus. “As soon as I heard Juventus were interested…”

Padoin was picked up on the final day of the winter transfer window as a midfield reinforcement for the title-chasing Bianconeri.

“The move was a wonderful surprise, unexpected until the last second,” the €5m signing told Juventus Channel.

“As soon as I heard that Juventus were interested in me, I put pressure on the management at Atalanta to let me go.

“Going to Juventus was a unique and very important opportunity. Here the philosophy is geared towards winning and I will put all my efforts in to contribute to their success, more so for the fact that I have not won anything yet.”

The 27-year-old, who made more than 150 appearances for Atalanta in a five-year spell, is reunited with Coach Antonio Conte, from their brief spell together with the Orobici at the start of the 2009-10 season.

Official: Juventus sign Simone Padoin from Atalanta

The Bianconeri have added the midfielder to their squad with immediate effect
in the closing stages of the winter transfer window.

Jan 31, 2012

Juventus have confirmed on their official website that they have completed the signing of Atalanta midfielder Simone Padoin for €5 million. The 27-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Bianconeri.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri were keen to add some more depth to their midfield before the closing of the January window, and were previously linked with players such as Cagliari's Radja Nainggolan and Porto's Fredy Guarin.

However, they eventually turned their attention to Padoin instead and have now completed the signing of the midfielder.

http://markting10.nl/

Padoin started his professional career with Vicenza before returning to his boyhood club Atalanta in the summer of 2007. He had since developed into a key player at the Bergamo outfit, thus earning himself a move to Juventus.

New Juventus signing Simone Padoin desperate for silverware

The midfielder left Atalanta for the Bianconeri on deadline day of the transfer window,
and is eager to win his first major trophy at the Turin giants this season.

Feb 1, 2012

New Juventus signing Simone Padoin has expressed his delight with his move to the Old Lady, and is desperate to win silverware with the Serie A table toppers.

http://markting10.nl/

The 27-year-old joined Juventus from Atalanta on the final day of the January transfer window, and Padoin is hopeful of winning the first major trophy in his career at his new club.

"Signing for Juventus was a unique opportunity for me. This club always wants to win trophies, and I'm looking forward to playing a role in their strive for success. I have never won a trophy in my career yet," Padoin said in an interview with Juventus Channel.

http://markting10.nl/

"This transfer came as a real surprise to me. I never expected Juventus to try and sign me. As soon as I heard of their interest, I made it clear to Atalanta that I wanted to leave."

Padoin could make his official Juventus debut in Sunday's Serie A game at home against Siena.

Juve hailed for Padoin swoop

Feb 8, 2012

Former Torino boss Giancarlo Camolese has applauded Juventus for their January capture of Simone Padoin.

http://markting10.nl/

The Old Lady opted for the Atalanta midfielder after they failed in bids to sign Fiorentina’s Valon Behrami and Radja Nainggolan of Cagliari.

Padoin is expected to make his Juve debut against Milan in the Coppa Italia tonight and Camolese knows him well from their time together at Vicenza.

http://markting10.nl/

“Conte has a player who will prove to be very useful to Juventus and it pleases me that he has reached the highest levels,” the out of work tactician told TMW on Wednesday.

“Application is his great strength, he always wants to improve and he is now at one of the most prestigious clubs in the world.

http://markting10.nl/

“Padoin is very versatile too. I used him mainly in the middle of the pitch, but he can deliver on the flank as well.

“He can be like Antonio Nocerino at Milan – in other words, he’s a player who can still take a big step up in quality.”

Padoin: Conte quieter now

Feb 10, 2012

Simone Padoin believes that Antonio Conte is a quieter and more flexible Coach at Juventus, in comparison to his days in charge at Atalanta.

http://markting10.nl/

Padoin, a January transfer deadline day signing from the Orobici, worked with Conte the for the first half of the 2009-10 season at the Bergamo club, before 42-year-old Coach resigned with the club struggling in a relegation battle.

Now in his squad at an unbeaten Juventus, Padoin reflects that he has seen a lot of changes in his Coach in those two years since.

“He seems quieter now as compared to the time spent in Bergamo, especially in the training sessions,” began the midfielder on Juventus Channel.

http://markting10.nl/

“I think he has deeply changed from the tactical point of view, because before he was always loyal to his 4-2-4 system, and now he’s shown to be able to change it according to the rivals, and I believe this can be appreciated.

“However, he’s still a ‘hammer’, he hasn’t changed from this point of view. I think that Juventus needed this kind of Coach, also beloved by the public.

“When fans see a man like him leading their side, who gave his all for this shirt, it is an added boost.”

http://markting10.nl/

Padoin also reflected on the differences he is experiencing between life at Atalanta and at Juve.

“It is a complete change as far as my life is concerned, but in connection to my mentality I think that I won’t have such difficulties considering that playing to win is the greatest thing.

“I’ve noticed the difference when we’ve prepared ourselves for the game against Milan - with my former side, we’d have focused ourselves on the defensive movements, while here at Juve we always try to impose our way of playing.”

http://markting10.nl/

Speaking to the club’s official television channel, the 27-year-old relived the day he found out he was moving to the Turin side.

“I had just finished the training in Bergamo. It was Monday, and on Wednesday we’d have had a game.

“I went home and I found my agent who asked me if I’d have liked to join Juventus. I thought he was joking…

http://markting10.nl/

“Since then, I’ve had no other thought. I was rushed because everything happened in a couple of hours and I went to Milan in order to sign the contract…”

Padoin made his debut in the midweek Coppa Italia semi-final first leg win over Milan at San Siro.

“I was very excited, I’ve been so lucky, and I’m not able to imagine a better debut with this shirt.

http://markting10.nl/

“It doesn’t seem real - just one week ago I was at Atalanta. When I was a child, I had ambitions to achieve, but I never had these expectations.

“I wasn’t thinking of signing with Juventus, also because I recently renewed with Atalanta, and when you’re 27, receiving this kind of important opportunity isn’t common.”

‘Padoin good enough for Juve’

Feb 22, 2012

Atalanta boss Stefano Colantuono insists that Simone Padoin is of Juventus quality following his January move.

http://markting10.nl/

The 27-year-old was transferred from Bergamo to the Old Lady in a €5m deal last month and made his League debut in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Catania.

“Padoin is an extremely versatile player who can occupy various roles in midfield,” Colantuono told Tutto Juve.

“The decision by Juventus boss Antonio Conte to have him at his disposal was dictated by the player’s multi-talented characteristics and the fact that he is a serious person.

http://markting10.nl/

“As a player, he is certainly worthy of Juventus so therefore the Bianconeri made a good decision in buying him.”

The midfielder was used on the right-flank in Conte’s 3-5-2 against the Sicilians last weekend. He isn’t expected to start against Milan on Saturday.

Padoin: We believe we can win the Scudetto

The midfielder is confident that the Bianconeri have what it takes to stay ahead
of rivals AC Milan for the remainder of the season and win the league title.

Apr 20, 2012

Juventus midfielder Simone Padoin has stressed that the Old Lady are confident they can win the Serie A title this term.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri have a one-point lead over AC Milan in the league table, and Padoin has insisted that Juve want to win all their remaining games in order to secure their first Scudetto since 2002-03.

"The Scudetto? We believe we can do it, there are six games left and we don’t want to put a foot wrong in the remainder of the season. We have the desire to win the title," Padoin stated to Juventus Channel.

http://markting10.nl/

The 28-year-old Padoin joined Juventus from Atalanta in the winter transfer window and has since made four Serie A appearances for the league leaders.

Padoin targets Juventus XI

May 24, 2012

Simone Padoin is looking to break into the first team plans of Juventus boss Antonio Conte next season.

http://markting10.nl/

The midfielder joined the Turin giants in January from Atalanta, but he was only used in six Serie A games and one Coppa Italia tie.

“We’ll be in the Champions League next season and that is the biggest stage you want to play on,” he told Sport Orobici.

“My hope is that I’ll be able to step on to the pitch with a bit more regularity in order to give the best of myself.

http://markting10.nl/

“I know that I was criticised for leaving Atalanta and that was legitimate,” he continued. “However, the train for a big club arrived and I had to get on it.

“Juventus will give me the opportunity to improve and offer me the chance to win some trophies.”

Padoin, 28, had played in 19 League games for the Nerazzurri this term before his Turin switch at the start of this year.

Del Neri asks for Padoin

Oct 26, 2012

New Genoa boss Gigi Del Neri has reportedly asked for his first January reinforcement – Juventus’ Simone Padoin.

http://markting10.nl/

Del Neri replaced Gigi De Canio on the Marassi bench this week following the Rossoblu’s 4-2 home defeat to Roma.

And with the winter transfer window just over two months away, Del Neri is already considering strengthening the squad.

http://markting10.nl/

Del Neri is understood to like Padoin, a midfielder who he has worked with in the past while they were at Atalanta.

Padoin, born in 1984, joined Juventus last January but he has only played in seven Serie A games for the Old Lady.

Genoa cool Padoin speculation

Nov 23, 2012

Genoa sporting director Rino Foschi is refusing to comment on his club’s alleged interest in Juventus’ Simone Padoin.

http://markting10.nl/

The 28-year-old has been paired with the Marassi outfit given the possibility that he will leave Turin after Christmas.

“The window is closed right now so it is useless to talk about transfers,” Foschi told Tutto Juve.

“I’ve seen the stories in the newspapers, but we are talking about a player who would be of interest to a lot of clubs.

http://markting10.nl/

“For now, I would prefer to just talk about the football that is being played on the pitch.”

Padoin joined Juve at the start of this year from Atalanta, but he has struggled to get a game with the Old Lady.

So far this season, he has appeared in just three Serie A matches – all as a substitute – for a total of 51 minutes.

Juve sent message, says Padoin

Mar 18, 2013

Simone Padoin has underlined how important the 2-0 win at Bologna was on Saturday night for Juventus.

http://markting10.nl/

The League leaders collected a key victory which has seen their nine-point lead over Napoli remain intact.

“We sent a strong message to the rest of the championship,” the 29-year-old. “It was an important match for us.”

http://markting10.nl/

Padoin was a surprise starter at the Dall’Ara and he was happy with the contribution that he made against the Rossoblu.

“I gradually became aware that I’d be starting the game during training last week,” the former Atalanta man added. “I’m content with how it went.”

Juventus signings impress Padoin

Jun 19, 2013

Juventus’ Simone Padoin has praised club officials for their work on the transfer market so far this summer.

http://markting10.nl/

The reigning Italian champions have been strengthening the squad thanks to the captures of Carlos Tevez, Fernando Llorente and Angelo Ogbonna.

“They’ve settled in quickly and well,” the former Atalanta player noted on Friday. “They are important players and the club should be congratulated for bringing them in.

“Only the season will say whether we are stronger than last year, but we are convinced that their arrivals will benefit us.”

http://markting10.nl/

The Old Lady have netted the trio with the intention of becoming more of a force in the Champions League.

“We’ll aim to do well in Europe, but our first objective is winning a third consecutive Scudetto,” he continued.

“It won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination, because after you win back-to-back titles, you become the team to beat. But we’ll give it our best shot.”

http://markting10.nl/

The midfielder could potentially see more action this term after the club sold Emanuele Giaccherini to Sunderland.

“I’ve shown in the last year and a half that I can get a game, but I know that the players ahead of me are on another level.

http://markting10.nl/

“My objective is thus to just make sure that I am ready whenever I am called upon.

“It will be a long, taxing campaign, with different objectives to fight for and many games to play.”

Padoin: Juventus must keep winning to catch Roma

Nov 4, 2013

Juventus midfielder Simone Padoin has admitted that the club can’t make any mistakes in Serie A if they want to catch up with Roma.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri currently have 28 points after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Parma, which is just three points behind the league leading Giallorossi, who’s 10 game winning streak was ended by Torino on Sunday with a 1-1 draw.

Padoin spoke to Mediaset Premium before Juve’s eventual victory over Parma and was adamant that the club must continue doing well to put pressure on the Lupi.

“Roma are travelling at a high pace,” said the 29-year-old. “Winning the first 10 matches is out of the ordinary.

http://markting10.nl/

“Juventus don’t have the opportunity to make any mistakes, as we must put pressure on the Giallorossi.

“If we want to aim for the title then we have to start winning as early as tonight.”

Juventus Unearth Their New Torricelli: Simone Padoin

Dec 3, 2014

Unlike many other Italian clubs, Juventus has always been run as a business in accordance with the wishes of the Agnelli family and the fortunes of FIAT.

Sometimes tending not to splash out huge sums for players in comparison to domestic and continental rivals over the years, obscure talents have been essential for the Old Lady with their dedication and determination becoming invaluable alongside the stars in the team.

One such player has been Simone Padoin, and his arrival mirrors one of the most fantastic footballing fairytales of the last 25 years: the rise of Moreno Torricelli from the inter-regional leagues to international acclaim.

Back in May 1992, 22-year-old Torricelli was a keen amateur playing for Milan outfit Caratese at weekends.

Moves to Pavia and Lecce had been on the table, but a telegram sent from the Turin giants asking Torricelli to play in three summer friendlies against Pro Vercelli, Vicenza and Ancona would transform his life.

A glowing testimony from club legend Claudio Gentile was enough to convince coach Giovanni Trapattoni that Torricelli was worth a try while Juve were without several defenders away on international duty for Italy in the United States for the inaugural U.S. Cup.

Arranging only a few days off from his job at the furniture factory he had worked at since the age of 15, Torricelli was soon leaving carpentry behind for good as a few days later he received another telegram asking him to attend pre-season training.

Torricelli would go on to make 230 appearances in all competitions for a Juve team that conquered both at home and in Europe during the mid-nineties often playing at right back, but also occupying a number of other defensive roles for his side.

Simone Padoin - JuventusPadoin may not have had such a spectacular rise to stardom in Turin, but his self-sacrifice and tireless performances have earned a likening to Torricelli.

Speaking after the 2-0 win away at Empoli last month, Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri ended his post-match interview stressing the importance of the 30-year-old as he replaced an injured Kwadwo Asamoah in the closing stages.

“I’d like to give a mention to Padoin, a player who doesn’t feature as much, but when he came on, it seemed like he had been playing from the first whistle,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“He’s important for the options he gives me, we’re lucky to have these types of players in the squad.”

An Atalanta youth product, Padoin was part of the club’s successful Primavera Coppa Italia victory before moving to continue his development with Vicenza in Serie B, where he was frequently used as a left-back.

A desire to improve and consistent performances, which had already enabled him to work his way up through Italian Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 sides, were combined with a versatility that enabled him to operate both as a defender and midfielder.

After returning to Atalanta, the Friulian was to be ordained by future Juventus coach Antonio Conte as “Saint Padoin the honest” for his humility, during their brief time together in Bergamo during the 2009-10 season.

Simone Padoin JuventusLike Torricelli, Padoin’s first contact with the Bianconeri came through a brief trial period after being “borrowed” along with Francesco Bardi and Albin Ekdal for the team’s tour of North America at the end of that season.

Padoin would have to wait another 18 months to seal a dream move on the final day of the January transfer window in 2012, and he has since gone on to win three successive Scudetti and the respect of Juventini fans.

Seamlessly adaptable to many different roles in the side, whether playing as a midfielder, wing-back, or most recently at left-back, Padoin is proving to be an increasingly important utility man for Juventus.

Padoin: I Would Like To Face Barcelona In Champions League

Dec 13, 2014

Juventus defender Simone Padoin wants to meet Barcelona in the Round of 16 of UEFA Champions League.

La Vecchia Signora reached the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League after finishing second in Group A behind Atletico Madrid, and Padoin has said that he’d like to face another Spanish opponent in the upcoming round.

“I would like to meet Barcelona in the Champions League,” he told Juventus TV. “Not because they would be easy to play against but due to their charm.”

Padoin answered a few more questions that Juventus fans had asked through their official twitter account.

“Winning the first championship was the best moment for me since I have come here,” he said. “Juventus are a glorious club, who have allowed me to win a lot and play in the Champions League.”

In a recent game against Empoli, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri the Bianconeri coach stressed the importance of Padoin and his work ethic and professionalism, thus leading some to dub him as the ‘New Soldier of Juventus’.

“I like the reference of ‘New Soldier of Juventus’,” he added. “It’s important in a season to be ready when you are needed.”

Having won three successive Serie A titles with Juventus, the former Atalanta player picked out his favourite game and his favourite ground.

“The 2-1 victory against Inter at the San Siro, it was an important game for our fans and I played as the holding-midfielder in that match,” he said.

“Celtic Park is the stadium I admired the most because of their vocal fans and all the colour.”

With Christmas approaching, Padoin said that winning the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana game against Napoli would be a great gift.

“The Supercoppa Italiana would be a great Christmas gift,” he concluded.

Padoin has made eight appearances in all competitions ths far this season, making two assists in the process.

Padoin: ‘To Dortmund to win’

Mar 6, 2015

Simone Padoin declares that Juventus will not go to Borussia Dortmund to play for a draw in their Champions League second leg.

The Bianconeri hold a 2-1 lead going into the away leg of the Last 16 tie, meaning that a draw would see them advance to the Quarter Finals.

“We have a slight advantage, but I think it would be wrong to go to Dortmund just trying to come back with a draw,” Padoin told JTV, Juventus’ in-house television channel.

“We’ll just go out onto the pitch to try to win like we always do. Obviously we have to use our heads, and if it’s level in the last minute we’ll have to be intelligent enough to secure qualification.

“That’s the most important thing. The Champions League is our dream, we’re still competing on three fronts, when you add in the League and the Coppa Italia.

“The League is the most important thing, in the Coppa Italia we’ll try and turn around the result [a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina last night], in a month we’ll go to Florence and try to overturn the result.

“The Champions League is our dream. We believe in it strongly, and we want to make a good impression.”

The former Atalanta man also assessed his side’s Serie A campaign, and says nothing is decided yet.

“I believe that the Italian League is always difficult. Clearly we’ve done well to be nine points ahead of Roma, but right now it doesn’t mean anything.

“There are 13 games to go, and 39 points up for grabs, anything could happen. That said, it’s a good lead, and we have to carry it forward with us until the end.”

Juventus announce Simone Padoin is out
for three weeks with a thigh injury

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2015/11/12/9717072/juventus-announce-simone-padoin-is-out-for-three-weeks-with-a-thigh-injury

Nov 12, 2015

It makes sense that during this current international break, Juventus are left to deal with another player getting injured. That's just how it's been, and that's just how it's going to be until further notice. The precedent has already been set, so there's a standard to live up to going forward.

That means when we hear about an injury, it's not surprising.

The latest injury news came to light on Wednesday, with midfielder/jack-of-all-trades/human victory cigar Simone Padoin being ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury. The "good" word, from Juventus' official website:

Kwadwo Asamoah and Roberto Pereyra continued their individual rehabilitation regimes, while Simone Padoin missed out after reporting discomfort in his left thigh following Sunday's clash in Empoli.

The midfielder underwent medical examinations yesterday which revealed a first-grade tear of his biceps femoris muscle. He is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks.

NOT PADOIN. DEAR LORD, NOT PADOIN.

Okay, so maybe Padoin getting hurt and missing a few weeks isn't the be-all, end-all of the season, but the trend of Juventus players picking up muscle injuries and heading straight to the training table. Maybe we were delivered this news because Juve didn't meet last week's quota of injury-related posts on the club's website.

So now we just pray that all of those players — about two-thirds of the senior squad — basically come back in the same kind of standing as they left Turin to head out to their respective national teams. You know, healthy.

Padoin, Pereyra renew with Juventus

http://www.football-italia.net/80349/padoin-pereyra-renew-juventus?

Feb 24, 2016

Simone Padoin and Roberto Pereyra have both signed one-year extensions to their Juventus contracts.

Padoin’s deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, while Pereyra was tied down until 2019.

The Bianconeri’s half-year accounts include Pereyra among the players who have extended until 2020, while Padoin will now remain in Turin until June 2017.

The half-year ended with a profit of €30.3m, compared to a €6.7m loss at this point last year.

However, the club’s debt also increased by €8.4m “due to payments made in Transfer Campaign outlays”.

Padoin: ‘Coppa final not easy’

http://www.football-italia.net/84230/padoin-%E2%80%98coppa-final-not-easy%E2%80%99?

May 12, 2016

Juventus midfielder Simone Padoin warns the Coppa Italia final with Milan “will be far from simple”.

The Bianconeri can complete the double for the second season in a row on May 21, but the 32-year-old isn’t getting ahead of himself.

“The cup final against Milan will be far from simple, one-off games never are,” Padoin told JTV.

“They aren’t in the best condition at the moment but in a game like this, the form book goes out of the window.

“We know full well that we will have to be at 100 per cent to bring the trophy home again.”

The Old Lady retained the Scudetto for the fifth-season in a row, and Padoin is proud of their comeback after a poor start.

“It’s been a tough campaign. We started poorly but we put our pride on the shelf and got back to doing what we do best.

“Winning the league with an initial 10, 12-point deficit has made this title that little bit sweeter. The turning point? Undoubtedly the last-minute victory over Torino.

“After the defeat to Sassuolo in October we looked ourselves in the mirror and realised that we had to fight for the right to be considered Scudetto contenders. From that moment, everything changed.

When I decided to join the club in January 2012, I knew that I would have the chance to win trophies but winning five league titles in a row is something else altogether.

“Knowing the club as well as I do now, all I can say is that this success is richly deserved. Everyone at this club wants to win.”
