Cagliari director Stefano Capozucca confirmed “we have an agreement” with Juventus midfielder Simone Padoin.

The transfer is imminent to the newly-promoted club, who won the Serie B title this season.

“We have an agreement with the player,” Cagliari director of sport Capozucca told news agency Ansa.

“The meeting will occur over the next few days to finalise the transfer.”

Padoin is 32 years old and has been at Juventus since January 2012.

Report: Padoin to join Cagliari

Jun 18, 2016

Cagliari have reportedly agreed a €1m deal to sign midfielder Simone Padoin from Juventus.

The interest had already been confirmed in recent weeks, but SportItalia now claim an agreement has been reached.

Juve will receive €1m and Padoin a three-year contract worth €900,000 per season.

Cagliari earned promotion back into Serie A after winning the Serie B title.

Padoin will be reunited with another ex-Bianconeri man, goalkeeper Marco Storari.

Versatile Padoin has been in Turin since January 2012.

Jun 19, 2016

Simone Padoin has been the butt of a lot of jokes around these parts since he arrived from Atalanta way back in 2012. Since then, Juventus has gone on to win a Scudetto at the end of every one of those seasons. That means Padoin is one of the few Juve players currently on the roster who have been a part of the squad since the beginning of the current five-year title-winning run in Serie A.

How much longer Padoin is a Juventus player still remains to be seen, though.

According to reports out of Italy, Juve's very own Human Victory Cigar could be trading in his reserve role with the current Italian champions for what is assumed to be a larger role for Caglieri in the club's return to Serie A come the start of the 2016-17 season. As Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio stated on his website on Saturday, "Only a few details remain and then Padoin will be able to consider himself a Cagliari player."

Well, I mean, if there really are a few details to go, I guess we should probably prepare ourselves for a post-Padoin world at Juventus.

And while that won't mean the club will crumble into shambles or the title run will suddenly end because Padoin is no longer around, one of the longest-tenured Juventus players there currently is on the roster — yes, it seems weird that it's true, but it is — will be leaving this summer.

Padoin has served his role just as well as you hope somebody who wouldn't play much would. He's never complained about his lack of playing time publicly, he's never been a problem. And that's something you want to have happen with your reserve players who serve exactly the same kind of role as Padoin has over his four-and-a-half-year Juve career.

Padoin: 'Goodbye Juventus'

http://www.football-italia.net/86098/padoin-goodbye-juventus

Jun 19, 2016

Simone Padoin wrote a moving letter of goodbye to Juventus fans after agreeing a transfer to Cagliari. “I don’t deserve your compliments.”

The midfielder rarely shone as one of the star names, but he became a fan favourite for plugging holes and getting the job done.

“Writing on social media is very unusual for me, so I am writing this on my wife’s Instagram, but I think on this occasion it is absolutely necessary to express my thanks to all the Bianconeri population who constantly showed me affection over the years.

“I know that a simple thank you is not enough to explain my gratitude towards everyone around Juventus. These are days in which I feel contrasting sentiments, as on the one side I am fired up for this new adventure, on the other I feel a lump in my throat at all I am leaving behind.

“THANK YOU first and foremost to all the teammates I’ve had over these five years, as all of you left me with something special and important. I will unlikely be fortunate enough to experience such a united and solid group again.

“It has been an immense honour for me to play with all of you and I think you for making me feel important and appreciated within the group.

“THANK YOU to the coaching staff of Antonio Conte and Max Allegri, who enabled me to learn new and winning things.

“THANK YOU to every person who worked with us (Matteo Fabris, doctors, physiotherapists, kit staff, marketing) and those who constantly work behind the scenes to give their fundamental contribution to our recent success.

“THANK YOU to the club (President, directors Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, Pavel Nedved), as there could be no better. The objective is always to improve and thanks to this spirit has been able to stay light years ahead of the rest of Italy and will become a European leader too.

“THANK YOU to the beautiful city of Turin, where my beloved children were born and will always represent for my family the scenario for marvellous memories.

“AND THANK YOU to all the fans who in these years let me feel their support and personally appreciated me despite the fact my qualities are mediocre for the Juventus level, but they realised that in every occasion I tried to honour the shirt by giving my all.

“Your compliments honestly make me feel a little ashamed, because I don’t think that I deserve them, and for that I will be eternally grateful to you.

“I leave happy and with profound satisfaction and pride at giving just a crumb of a contribution to all the triumphs we’ve had over the last five years.

“In other words, THANK YOU JUVE!!!! I salute you all with great affection, wishing you the best for the future.

“Simone Padoin.”

Well it looks like it’s final, at least to Simone’s Instagram, rather his wife's. It looks like the transfer to Cagliari is a done deal according to the man himself.

He decided that he needed to address the Bianconeri faithful.

"Writing on social media is very unusual for me, so I am writing this on my wife’s Instagram, but I think on this occasion it is absolutely necessary to express my thanks to all the Bianconeri population who constantly showed me affection over the years.

Bonucci: 'Padoin set the example'

http://www.football-italia.net/86105/bonucci-padoin-set-example

Jun 19, 2016

Leonardo Bonucci replied to Simone Padoin’s farewell message by calling him “an example to everyone” at Juventus.

The midfielder is heading to newly-promoted Cagliari and wrote goodbye to the fans on Instagram.

“I never wrote goodbye messages to a teammate, because we know that’s what football is like,” noted Bonucci on social media.

“One day you have a teammate next to you, the next there’s someone else. Nothing is definitive, nothing is forever in the world of football.

“But for Pado, because that’s how we call him, I am here today writing these words because he deserves them.

“A great player, a great man. In four and a half years together he was an example to everyone. Never late, never missed a training session, never held back, every day always the first to arrive, always at everyone’s disposal and an important Man for our group.

“Next time we meet it will be as adversaries, but nothing will cancel out the many trophies we won together. All the best, PENTACHAMPION.

“You set the example.”

Official: Juve's Padoin to Cagliari

http://www.football-italia.net/86812/official-juves-padoin-cagliari

Jul 4, 2016

Juventus have officially sold Simone Padoin to Cagliari for an extremely low transfer fee.

The 32-year-old joined the Bianconeri five years ago with excellent timing, having notched five Scudetti in the same number of years. But he only managed 14 games across all competitions last season, and his cycle was coming to an end.

“Juventus Football Club communicate that they have perfected the agreement with the club Cagliari Calcio for the definitive sale of the sporting services of the player Simone Padoin, for a price of €600,000 to be paid over three years,” reads a statement on Juventus' official club.

“This operation does not generate any significant economic effects for Juventus.”

five league titles during his time in Turin, but has left in search of more playing time.

Jul 4, 2016

Simone Padoin has left Juventus for Cagliari in a deal worth €600,000, to be paid over the course of three financial years.

The 32-year-old has signed a contract with his new club until June 2019.

The versatile midfielder won five league titles during his time with Juventus, having become an important first-team member in Turin since joining the club from Atalanta in January 2012.

Padoin was keen to move on, though, in order to get more playing time, and Juventus consequently opted to allow him to leave.

"Simone Padoin departs Juventus for Cagliari after five years of magnificent service," a statement on Juve's official website reads.

"A right-back, an anchor man, a box-to-box midfielder, a winger, a ball-winner, an undoubted Juventus hero. Grazie, Pado."

Juventus have already said farewell to Alvaro Morata, Martin Caceres and Rubinho.
