Kelly or Hancko – Which defender is better for Juventus?

Lloyd kelly

Juventus wanted to sign Lloyd Kelly as a free agent from Bournemouth in the summer, but he chose to join Newcastle United.

The Englishman could be on the move again this month after failing to establish himself in the Newcastle team. ............

Another defender that Juve wants to sign is David Hancko from Feyenoord, and both have a similar profile, meaning Juve wants them for almost the same reason.

Like Hancko, Kelly is a left-footed defender adept at playing as a centre-back or as a left-back, so they both offer the Bianconeri versatility, which Thiago Motta values in his players.

Juve is struggling to sign both stars after Newcastle United and Feyenoord rejected loan approaches for both players. ............

Hancko gets more game time now and is probably up to speed with the season, meaning he can contribute immediately.

However, Kelly is a fine player who should also not need much time to get up to speed if he completes the move to the Allianz Stadium. ............

Juventus’ Double Defensive Mission: Giuntoli Targets Kelly and Veiga as Chelsea Eye Douglas Luiz

Juventus, previsti nuovi contatti con Newcastle e Chelsea per Kelly e Veiga - Gianluca Di Marzio

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is on a dual mission to bolster the club’s defence before the transfer window closes. The Bianconeri are pursuing Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly and Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, with Giuntoli recently traveling to London to accelerate negotiations.

Progress has been made in talks for Kelly, who offers versatility as both a full-back and centre-back. Newcastle have opened the door for a loan with an option to buy, but Juventus is cautious about exceeding their budget. The English defender’s ability to play multiple positions makes him an attractive target for the Italian giants.

Simultaneously, discussions are ongoing with Chelsea regarding Portuguese defender Renato Veiga. During these negotiations, the name of Douglas Luiz has emerged as a point of interest for the London club. Chelsea is keen on a loan deal for the Brazilian midfielder, while Juventus prefers a permanent transfer to generate funds. ............

Amidst these defensive pursuits, Juventus is also finalizing the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani. Giuntoli expressed optimism about the transfer, stating, “I believe everything will be resolved shortly. They’re completing the final documents, and we should have it done by tomorrow at the latest.” ............

Giuntoli emphasized the club’s focus on strengthening rather than selling. “We don’t want to conduct outgoing transfers, but rather enhance the squad”. ............

Juventus are back in direct negotiations with Newcastle United for defender Lloyd Kelly and could get the deal done for €15-18m.

The Bianconeri had circled back to Kelly after the talks with RC Lens for Kevin Danso fell apart at the last minute. ............

It would be a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season for circa €15-18m including various add-ons.

This is different to the original idea, which was to bring Kelly in purely on a dry loan or at most with an option to buy at the end of the season. ............

The 26-year-old can play as a central defender or a left-back when required.

Juventus reignites move for Lloyd Kelly after missing out on Danso

Lloyd Kelly against Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup

Juventus appears to have given up on signing Kevin Danso from Lens after the Ligue 1 club failed to respond to their offer. ............

Juve has been targeting several players to strengthen their backline, and one name that has emerged as a top priority is Newcastle United’s Lloyd Kelly. Juventus has tried to sign Kelly in the past but was told by the Magpies that he would not be available on loan. However, the Bianconeri are now refocusing their efforts on a deal for the English defender.

The club’s failure to secure Danso means they are now shifting their attention to Kelly, who is seen as a solid addition to Juventus’ defensive options. The 26-year-old has proven his abilities in the Premier League, and his experience could be invaluable for Juve as they continue to strengthen their squad.

If a deal for Danso falls through, Kelly could be the ideal solution for Juventus’ defensive needs. However, Juventus faces an uphill battle. Newcastle are not a financially struggling club, and they will only let Kelly leave if the Bianconeri make an offer they deem worthy. Juventus will have to be prepared to meet Newcastle’s asking price, or they risk missing out on this target as well. ............

Reports suggest Juventus have now agreed a deal with Newcastle United for defender Lloyd Kelly, on loan with obligation to buy for €18m plus add-ons.

The centre-back had been a target throughout the January transfer window, but seemed to drop down the pecking order when others like Kevin Danso of RC Lens emerged.

There was also the issue that Newcastle United were refusing to let him leave on loan without an obligation to make the transfer a permanent one.

That had been a sticking point for Juventus, but with only 48 hours left in the transfer session, the Bianconeri decided to take the plunge. ............

Kelly should fly in to Turin for his medical tests during the weekend.

The final figure is at closer to €20m including bonuses, noting it will be a loan with option to buy that becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met. ............

Done deal – Newcastle give Lloyd Kelly green light to join Juventus

Kelly è sbarcato a Torino: visite e firma, inizia la sua avventura con la Juve

Juventus and Newcastle United have reportedly reached a full accord over the transfer of Lloyd Kelly who’s now preparing to take the flight to Italy.

The Bianconeri have already pulled off three signings in January, bringing in Alberto Costa, Randal Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga, but they still need one central defender to call it a day, especially with Pierre Kalulu picking up an injury during the Champions League defeat to Benfica. ............

The two clubs have now untied all knots, including the one related to payment methods. So after reaching a full agreement with the Italian counterparts, Newcastle have given their player the green light to head to Turin.

The transfer market expert reveals Kelly will join Juventus on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. The package should cost the Serie A giants a total of 20 million euros between loan fees and the buy clause. However, the agreement won’t include a sell-on fee in case of a future resale. ............

Official: Juventus sign Lloyd Kelly on loan from Newcastle United

Lloyd Kelly is a new Juventus player! - Juventus

Juventus have announced the capture of Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Bianconeri had already signed three players in January, buying Alberto Costa from Vitoria Guimaraes and loaning Randal Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea respectively. ............

The 26-year-old landed in Italy on Sunday night following an agreement between Juventus and Newcastle. And while a bureaucratic hurdle threatened to hamper the operation, the parties managed to resolve in time to register the defender a couple of hours before the transfer deadline.

The Serie A giants have now announced the deal on their official website. The note reveals that the Bianconeri will pay 3 million euros in loan fees and will have the obligation to buy the centre-back for another 14.5 million which will be triggered by easily achievable objectives. ............

Newcastle coach Eddie Howe has explained that his team were ‘very reluctant’ to let Lloyd Kelly leave for Juventus in the final days of the January transfer window, but hinted that the Premier League’s rules on Profit and Sustainability (PSR) might have impacted the decision to sell him. ............

The Englishman had only joined Newcastle in the summer on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with fellow Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth. ............

“I don’t think it was necessarily my decision to let him leave, I think it was very reluctant from our side because Lloyd’s a player that had just recently signed and we believed in him and his qualities,” Howe said.

“Slightly frustrating for him that he hadn’t played more, but in part really due to the form of the other players around him. ............

“So, Lloyd leaves with our best wishes, he certainly has had an exemplary attitude during his time here and I’m sure he’ll do well in Italy and it’s an exciting new challenge for him.”

Why Kelly sat out the latest Juventus training session and will he play against Como?

Kan een afbeelding zijn van 1 persoon, voetballen en American football spelen

Juventus fans are excited about how Lloyd Kelly will perform in their team after he sealed a late move from Newcastle United to the Allianz Stadium. The defender had been on Juventus’ radar for a long time, and when the opportunity arose, the Bianconeri moved swiftly to secure his signature. ............

Kelly is expected to be an important player, at least until Gleison Bremer returns to full fitness. The Englishman is excited to be in Turin and is eager to contribute to the team. However, he could only watch his teammates in their latest training session, as he was not able to participate. This was due to some bureaucratic processes that need to be completed before he is officially cleared to train with the squad. ............

Despite this, Juventus have a long period to prepare for their next match against Como. The club are confident that Kelly will be available for that match, allowing him to integrate into the team and start building chemistry with his new teammates. ............

Trevisani has low hopes for new Juventus signing: “I see him as a benchwarmer”

Lloyd Kelly alla Juventus, ora è ufficiale: arriva dal Newcastle, cifre e formula dell'affare | Goal.com Italia

Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani doesn’t expect Lloyd Kelly to become a protagonist at the back for Juventus. ............

Last summer, he signed for Newcastle on a free transfer, but has been a backup choice at Eddie Howe’s court.

Therefore, Trevisani expects the central defender to suffer the same fate in Turin. He believes the Bristol native has similar physical characteristics to Federico Gatti, and he’s unlikely to upstage the Italy international.

“In Kelly, I see a benchwarmer, certainly not a future starter for Juve, at least not for the Juve that we imagine,” said the pundit during his appearance on Cronache di Spogliatoio.

“Numerically, they needed to beef up a department that was depleted. I don’t know how many games he’ll play because if someone with those characteristics must be on the pitch, then it will be Gatti.”

But regardless of how much playing time he’ll collect between now and the end of the season, Kelly is likely to seal a permanent transfer to Juventus by June. As reported earlier in the day, the defender’s obligation to buy clause will be triggered once the club seals qualification to any European competition next season (the Champions League, the Europa League or the Conference League). ............
