Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 15 ore fa Preview: Frosinone vs Juventus - prediction, team news, lineups After a costly collapse at the end of last season, Juventus will have a point to prove when their Serie A season starts with Sunday's visit to newly promoted Frosinone. While Juve want to bounce back from failing to make the top four in May, their hosts will be eyeing survival. Match preview Having taken just five points from their last five games of the 2025-26 campaign, Juventus narrowly missed out on claiming Champions League qualification. ............ Following a goalless draw with Basel, Juve beat both Standard Liege and Nice, then defeated Chelsea and Palermo either side of losing to old foes Inter Milan. The Turin club have also been busy re-shaping Spalletti's squad while tidying up their balance sheet: high-earner Dusan Vlahovic was the main departure, with Kerim Alajbegovic the most exciting arrival. Now, they will try to continue a trend of success on Serie A's opening matchday, having won all but two of their last 15 league openers and kept clean sheets in six of the last seven. ............ Team News Juventus can no longer call upon Vlahovic, who was released at the end of his contract, so fit-again Arkadiusz Milik, Jonathan David and Randal Kolo Muani will vie to lead the Bianconeri's attack. Bolstering his forward options, Spalletti brought Kolo Muani back to the club and signed Bosnian star Alajbegovic, following right-back Zeki Celik's surprise arrival from Roma. Jeff Ekhator was also lured away from Genoa, but the Italy international has been hampered by a thigh injury and is likely to miss out this weekend; Federico Gatti is also a doubt. After Juve conceded from the first opposition shot on target in nearly half their league matches last season, Guglielmo Vicario will replace Michele Di Gregorio as number one goalkeeper. ............ Frosinone possible starting lineup: Palmisani; Oyono, Calvani, Monterisi, Bracaglia; Masini, Calo; Ghedjemis, Schmid, Kvernadze; Raimondo Juventus possible starting lineup: Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Luiz; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani We say: Frosinone 1-3 Juventus Juventus improved significantly when Spalletti arrived last autumn, yet they dropped too many crucial points in the final stretch. But, with the Bianconeri unbeaten in 19 of their last 20 games against newly promoted opponents, they will not let any slip on Sunday. . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 14 ore fa Round 1: Frosinone vs. Juventus match preview The 2026-27 season officially begins for Juventus this weekend, and it comes at a stadium where they haven’t played in a couple of years. Here we go again, my friends. A new Serie A season is upon us — and it’s hard to truly figure out my actual thoughts about this current state of Juventus and the excitement that comes along with that. ............ Either way, a new campaign starts on Sunday — one that we all hope goes a little bit better than the last one. Juventus begin the 2026-27 season away from home, facing one of the three newly promoted sides in the form of Frosinone. The last time Juve rolled into the Stadio Benito Stirpe, it was the first time we saw Kenan Yildiz score at the senior level and break out his Alessandro Del Piero-esque goal celebration. It brought us joy and hopes for a young rising talent to lead Juve into the future. But the next season and a half has not exactly resulted in a wonderful future as Juve built around their Starboy of a young No. 10. Instead, Juve enter this new season with rather muted expectations — at least coming from those of us on the outside. Rather than being the club that fights for league titles and as many trophies as they possibly can, Juve will take the field on Sunday as just another candidate to try and qualify for the Champions League next season. And the unfortunate part in that is it just feels like the truth unless something crazy happens and they catch lightning in a bottle as the season goes on. For now, though, it’s just about getting off to a winning start. For a team that has not done a ton of winning the last few years, who knows how much one win against a club that was just in Serie B a few months ago will mean. You just hope that it will maybe get a little bit of belief going that they can ultimately be one of those top four teams come the springtime. ............ “There are a lot of new things this season, firstly the players who can create things and find solutions,” Spalletti said during his pre-match press conference. “There’s always an evolution, but you have to be good at adapting to this constant change. We have to think, reason and go into things in greater depth. I always try to keep myself up to date personally, and I’ll try to do that during the season as well, depending on our commitments.” But facing a club that is playing its first game in Serie A following promotion is always an interesting kind of endeavor — and facing Frosinone is going to be no different. Their stadium is going to be absolutely jacked up because it’s the season opener and they’re back in Serie A, and it comes against Juventus on top of it. You know what they would love more than anything? Taking points off the most successful club that Italy has. ............ But the funny thing is, Juve opened the season quite well last season. Or, at least we can say they won some games to begin the 2025-26 season. When it went bad, it went bad in a hurry and ultimately saw Igor Tudor dismissed from his job before the month of October came to an end. There was a good start in there, though. I get that it’s easy to forget because of … well, everything else. Spalletti has had a full preseason. He has gotten a striker he has wanted since the winter mercato. He has gotten the center back signing he long desired, too. The summer mercato has not been great, but it hasn’t been a total bust (on paper) by any means. So now, with the transfer window still open, we get to see the games start for real. The first of 38 matchdays is nearly upon us. As a wise man on this website said a little earlier, it’s time to get hurt again. TEAM NEWS Unfortunately, Spalletti will not be entering the opening game of the season with a full roster of available players. The most notable one is Federico Gatti, who has been dealing with an ankle injury ever since he was (inadvertently?) taken out by a fan as part of the field storming at the beginning of the second half of the family match against the Next Gen squad on Monday. Also out injured is young striker Jeff Ekhator, who has been training training away from the group for much of the past week. Not called up for the season opener is goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who is set to finalize his loan move to Premier League side Bournemouth in the next couple of days. The other goalkeeper who is (likely) on the way out, Mattia Perin, has been called up by Spalletti. Perin, however, is not expected to start and this is likely merely out of precaution more than anything else as he looks set to join Palermo in the near future. A player who also got called up to face Frosinone? Nico Gonzalez! He will be wearing the classic winger kit number of 31. Spalletti didn’t give many clues when it comes to his starting lineup during his pre-match press conference, but he did say that two summer signings will play: Randal Kolo Muani and Guglielmo Vicario. With Khephren Thuram still working his way back into full fitness — he didn’t appear in any of Juve’s friendlies — the double pivot expected to face Frosinone is Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz. ............ JUVENTUS PLAYER TO WATCH There’s a lot of ways we can go with this just because it’s the first game of a brand new season. Ultimately, though, you can’t win games if you don’t score goals. And Juventus just spent nearly three entire transfer windows trying to bring in the same striker. They may have gotten that striker, but it wasn’t cheap nor without plenty of waiting. And with that price tag now comes expectations — and a lot of that — now on the shoulders of Randal Kolo Muani. Kolo Muani will be leading the line on Sunday evening. This is what we know, and it’s what we expected to see considering how he is very much the clear-cut top striker on this roster. There’s no more competing with Dusan Vlahovic for minutes like we saw during RKM’s first stint in Turin. Instead, Vlahovic has taken his act to Turkiye and Kolo Muani has taken over the No. 9 shirt. ............ One season opener will be the determining factor, but a strong start to his return to Juve can only help start to potentially change the viewpoint that he is not that kind of player. Only one way to find out, right? MATCH INFO When: Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026. Where: Stadio Benito Stirpe, Frosinone, Italy. Official kickoff time: 6:30 p.m. local time in Italy and across Europe, 5:30 p.m. in the United Kingdom, 12:30 p.m. Eastern time, 11:30 a.m. Central time, 9:30 a.m. Pacific time. . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 14 ore fa Frosinone vs Juventus match preview and prediction Juventus take on Frosinone in their season opener tomorrow as they look to make the best possible start to the season. The Bianconeri are coming off a very good pre-season and are ready to do better this term than they did in the last campaign. Luciano Spalletti has some top talent in his squad, and this game gives them a chance to make a strong start ahead of their rivals. A huge win could send them to the top of the league standings, but Frosinone are playing at home and will not make it easy for Juve to beat them. In that situation, the Bianconeri will have to show why they are one of the top teams in the league and capable of becoming champions in the summer. Juventus expect a strong start They will have to respect their hosts, but we expect Juve to begin the campaign with a win in this match. That could come from Randal Kolo Muani scoring a brace or Kenan Yildiz producing a goal and an assist to help the team start the season strongly. ............ Bianconeri tipped to win Juve have won their last six games against the same opponent, and we expect the Old Lady to continue that run with another victory. Frosinone will have the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters, but Juventus should have enough quality to overcome that challenge. The visitors will need to remain focused and avoid giving their opponents opportunities to cause an upset. Spalletti will also expect his players to demonstrate why they can challenge for the title this season. The opening match provides an early opportunity to send a message to their rivals. Our prediction is a 2-0 victory for Juventus, which would allow the Bianconeri to begin the season in the best possible manner. . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 14 ore fa Serie A Preview: Frosinone vs Juventus – Team News, Lineups & Prediction Frosinone finished runners-up in Serie B last term to secure a top-flight return for the first time since 2023/24. They finished that season just a point adrift of safety and will be looking to avoid the same fate this time around under Massimiliano Alvini, who helped them earn promotion. ............ A disappointing sixth-place finish prompted the club to drastically change their frontline. Lois Openda and Dusan Vlahovic are no longer part of Luciano Spalletti’s squad. Jeff Ekhator, Kerim Alajbegovic, and Randal Kolo Muani have been brought in to fill the void, while Joshua Zirkzee could arrive late in the summer. Match Preview Frosinone ............ Juventus After missing out on a top-four finish for only the second time since the 2010/11 season, Juventus will be eager to bounce back this term. Spalletti’s men enter this game as odds-on favorites, buoyed by their strong recent record against Serie A newcomers. Juventus have lost just once in their last 20 league clashes against newcomers (W13, D6, L1), underlining their dominance in these fixtures and offering plenty of encouragement ahead of their trip to the capital. Adding to the visitors’ confidence, they have emerged victorious from 13 of their last 15 day-one matches in Serie A (D1, L1). Defensive solidity could prove crucial if the Bianconeri are to maintain that remarkable record. Few would bet against Juventus holding up their end of the bargain here, especially considering they kept a clean sheet in four of their final five Serie A away games last season (W3, D2). Team News ............ Ekhator will have to wait a little longer to make his Juventus debut as he’s still dealing with a muscle injury. Federico Gatti is also on the sidelines, with Lloyd Kelly expected to partner up with Gleison Bremer at the heart of Spalletti’s defense. Guglielmo Vicario should start in goal after arriving from Tottenham Hotspur on loan, while Kolo Muani is likely to lead the line ahead of Jonathan David. Frosinone vs Juventus Potential Starting Lineups Frosinone (4-2-3-1): Palmisani; Oyono, Calvani, Monterisi, Bracaglia; Masini, Calo; Ghedjemis, Schmid, Kvernadze; Raimondo. Juventus (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Luiz; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani. Frosinone vs Juventus Prediction Frosinone might give Juventus a run for their money, but the Bianconeri should have enough quality to come away with all three points. Spalletti’s side can lean on their formidable record against promoted clubs and a strong defensive record away from home to start the campaign on a winning note. Prediction: Juventus to win . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 14 ore fa Frosinone vs Juventus: Preview and Prediction Juventus begin their 2026/27 Serie A campaign on Sunday with a trip to newly-promoted Frosinone at the Stadio Benito Stirpe. The hosts return to Italy’s top flight hoping to make an immediate impression, but they could hardly have been handed a more demanding opening assignment. Frosinone arrive with momentum following promotion and an emphatic Coppa Italia victory, while Juventus enter the new campaign with a reshaped squad but familiar expectations of competing towards the top of Serie A. Frosinone earned their place back among Italy’s elite following an impressive 2025/26 Serie B campaign and will be determined to make their latest stay in Serie A more successful than previous attempts. ............ However, Juventus arrive in Lazio with significantly greater expectations as the Bianconeri have undergone several squad changes during the summer, but their objective remains to challenge at the top of Italian football and potentially fight for the Scudetto. One of their most important pieces of business was completing the permanent signing of Randal Kolo Muani. The French forward has already demonstrated his suitability to Serie A, averaging a goal every 146 minutes for Juventus in the competition. That represents his best goals-per-minute ratio for any club he has represented across Europe’s top five leagues. His importance has increased following the departure of Dusan Vlahovic to Besiktas. Juventus have also strengthened defensively with the arrival of Jhon Lucumí, providing another established option at centre-back as they attempt to maintain the defensive solidity traditionally associated with the club. Kenan Yildiz will have particularly positive memories of the Stadio Benito Stirpe. The Turkish international scored his first-ever Serie A goal against Frosinone on December 23, 2023, announcing himself as one of Juventus’s brightest young talents. He has since developed into a major attacking influence. The head-to-head numbers strongly favour the visitors as Juventus have won their last five Serie A meetings with Frosinone, having drawn the clubs’ first top-flight encounter 1-1 in September 2015. Across those five victories, the Bianconeri have outscored Frosinone 12-3 and found the net at least twice in every match. Their defensive record is equally impressive. Juventus have kept clean sheets in six of their nine meetings with Frosinone across Serie A, Serie B and the Coppa Italia, equivalent to a 67% shutout rate. The numbers become even more daunting for Frosinone when focusing on this venue. Juventus have won all three of their Serie A visits to the Stadio Benito Stirpe, scoring exactly twice on every occasion. Frosinone therefore hold a 100% home loss rate against the Bianconeri in the top flight. The Hard Tackle takes a look at how both sides could line up and what tactics they might employ on the day. Team News & Tactics Frosinone ............ Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Palmisani; Oyono, Calvani, Monterisi, Bracaglia; Masini, Calo; Ghedjemis, Schmid, Kvernadze; Raimondo Juventus Juventus begin the new Serie A campaign with a noticeably reshaped squad following another active summer. The departure of Dusan Vlahovic leaves Luciano Spalletti with a major decision at centre-forward, although the permanent return of Randal Kolo Muani provides the Bianconeri with a proven option to lead the attack. Jonathan David and the fit-again Arkadiusz Milik provide further competition for the position. In terms of injury and suspension news, Jeff Ekhator is expected to miss the opening fixture because of a thigh injury that has disrupted his preparations. Federico Gatti is also considered doubtful and will need to be assessed before the trip to Frosinone. There are no major suspension concerns affecting the expected starting XI, leaving Spalletti’s principal selection issues fitness-related. Juventus have strengthened several areas during the summer. Zeki Celik has arrived from Roma to provide another option at right-back, while Bosnian youngster Kerim Alajbegovic adds further attacking depth. One of the most significant changes comes in goal, where Guglielmo Vicario is expected to replace Michele Di Gregorio as Juventus’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Di Gregorio set to join Bournemouth. The Bianconeri are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Vicario starting between the posts. Pierre Kalulu should occupy the right-back position, while Gleison Bremer and Lloyd Kelly are expected to form the central defensive partnership. Andrea Cambiaso should start at left-back, although his versatility will allow him to advance into midfield areas whenever Juventus dominate possession. Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz should form the midfield double pivot. Locatelli can provide positional discipline and dictate possession from deeper areas, while Luiz offers greater freedom to advance and connect with the attacking players. Their ability to control the centre of the pitch should allow Juventus to establish territorial dominance against the newly-promoted hosts. Further forward, Francisco Conceicao is expected to start from the right wing, with Weston McKennie occupying the central attacking-midfield position and Kenan Yildiz operating from the left. Conceicao can provide direct dribbling and width, while McKennie’s energetic movement should help Juventus press Frosinone high up the pitch. Yıldız could be especially dangerous when drifting inside from the left. The Turkish international has particularly fond memories of the Stadio Benito Stirpe, having scored his first Serie A goal against Frosinone in December 2023. His ability to carry possession and attack defenders individually should make him one of Juventus’s primary creative outlets. Randal Kolo Muani is expected to lead the line as the centre-forward. His pace and intelligent movement behind the defence should complement Yildiz and Conceicao, while his impressive Serie A scoring rate makes him the natural favourite to start ahead of David and Milik. Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso; Luiz, Locatelli; Conceicao, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani Key Stats Juventus have won their last five Serie A meetings with Frosinone, outscoring them 12-3 and scoring at least twice in every victory. Frosinone have lost all three Serie A home games against Juventus, conceding exactly two goals in each encounter. Juventus have kept six clean sheets in nine matches against Frosinone across all competitions, a 67% clean-sheet rate. Frosinone have lost all three of their previous Serie A opening-day matches, against Torino, Atalanta and Napoli. Randal Kolo Muani averages a Serie A goal every 146 minutes for Juventus, his best goals-per-minute ratio for any club in Europe’s top five leagues. Player to Watch Kenan Yıldız Kenan Yildiz is the player to watch as Juventus begin their Serie A campaign at the Stadio Benito Stirpe. The venue carries special significance for the Turkish international, as he scored his first Serie A goal against Frosinone there on December 23, 2023. Expected to operate from the left of Juventus’s attacking midfield, Yildiz offers a major threat when carrying possession inside. He covered 6,826 metres with the ball at his feet last season, more than any other forward in Serie A, highlighting his ability to progress attacks through direct running. His combination with Randal Kolo Muani could be particularly difficult for Frosinone to contain. While Kolo Muani stretches the defensive line, the Turk can exploit the resulting spaces between the full-back and centre-back. Against newly-promoted opposition likely to spend long periods defending, Juventus may need individual quality to unlock a compact block. Yildiz’s dribbling, creativity and ability to produce something unexpected make him the leading candidate to do exactly that. Prediction Frosinone 0-2 Juventus Frosinone’s excellent Coppa Italia performance and recent scoring record suggest Juventus should not expect a completely comfortable evening. The promoted side should approach their home opener with enthusiasm, and players such as Romano Schmid and Giacomo Calo give them enough creativity to cause occasional problems. However, the difference in individual quality and Serie A experience remains substantial. Juventus have historically controlled this matchup, while Randal Kolo Muani and Kenan Yildiz provide the visitors with enough attacking quality to exploit any mistakes from a newly-promoted defence. Frosinone should remain competitive, particularly during the opening stages, but Juventus’s greater experience and quality should gradually take control. A professional away victory accompanied by another clean sheet looks the most likely outcome. . Teams are always evolving, so players must be prepared to go with that flow. I also went to watch a few Serie B coaches at work, to keep myself up to date.” ............ “The squad right now is cohesive, united, but in future I’d like us to also be solid, robust, determined. In general we’ve had a good transfer market, some areas need a few cosmetic changes, others entire restoration projects,” explained Spalletti. “We brought in a player like Alajbegovic who provides that sudden shock of energy, he sees the next move and can see it through. We’ve certainly made it more competitive all over the team.” ............ “There are seven or eight teams who can challenge for the top four, and last season we missed out. We’ve got to prove ourselves and become a balanced team. We have improved, but only the results will show us how much we’ve improved. “Right now you all seem to think we’ll be second or third, but it’s the usual game when you try to guess the line-up, they can’t all be in the starting XI. “We had a good transfer strategy and are in a position to do more, while Milan made good investments, Inter and Napoli were already strong, Roma signed important players. They are all up there and have the same ambition, we all want to win many games.” ............ “Vicario and Kolo Muani will start, then after that we’ll try to create a team that has balance, which gives individual players more freedom to express themselves within that framework. “It is not system against system, but movement against movement, understanding where to create that space.” ............ “We got Vicario because we consider him strong and experienced, good with his feet, and has just started training over the last week with the team. He will play, Perin will remain as long as he can be useful, while Di Gregorio is almost official now, so he’s not even in the squad.” . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 2 ore fa Serie A | Frosinone 0-1 Juventus: Bremer and woodwork secure victory Juventus were almost made to pay for wasted opportunities in Frosinone, saved by the woodwork after Guglielmo Vicario’s injury, but Gleison Bremer secured an opening victory. The Bianconeri started new signings Randal Kolo Muani, Guglielmo Vicario and Zeki Celik, with Douglas Luiz revitalised after loans at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, but Federico Gatti and Jeff Ekhator were injured, the defender hurt by a clumsy fan during a pitch invasion. ............ Juventus wasted two big early chances, as Gleison Bremer turned a free header wide from a Douglas Luiz short corner routine, then Kolo Muani ballooned over from point-blank range. It was third time lucky, as on another short corner routine, Francisco Conceicao floated in the cross for Bremer’s header from six yards. ............ Moments later, it was Juve who failed to score, first with Pierre Kalulu’s ferocious strike palmed into the upright, then Lorenzo Palmisani getting back up to make the follow-up save on Yildiz. Gabriele Calvani made a decisive sliding tackle as Kolo Muani was pulling the trigger, then Conceicao missed another sitter when ballooning over the open goal from a splendid Zeki Celik assist. ............ It remained open at 1-0 and Fini forced Vicario into a tricky save after a change of pace, while Conceicao skipped away from two to blast inches wide from the edge of the area. Vicario went down with cramp in the final minute, so was replaced by Mattia Perin for stoppages, probably his last appearance for the club before the likely move to Palermo. Perin was almost beaten moments later by Calvani’s free header on a corner, as Juventus were rescued by the frame of the goal. ............ . Socrates 10842 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 147322 messaggi Inviato 2 ore fa Spalletti: ‘There must be a reason Kolo Muani hasn’t played for two years’ Luciano Spalletti delivered a pointed assessment of Randal Kolo Muani after Juventus opened their Serie A season with a 1-0 win at Frosinone, suggesting the forward has significant ground to make up before he is the player the club believe he can be. Spalletti said: “We went and got Kolo, we’ve looked after him and we know what his value is. But he has to realise that he hasn’t played for two years and there must be a reason for that. Sometimes you think you’re at an exceptional level but you’ve left something behind that you need to go and get back.” The criticism carried weight given the shape of the match. Juventus held 63 per cent possession and registered 20 shots at the Stadio Benito Stirpe, but converted only once with Gleison Bremer’s 22nd-minute header from a Francisco Conceicao delivery settling it. ............ “These are matches in which you have to take goals home because the spaces are in your favour,” he said. “The striker we’re looking for might have different characteristics. Today the spaces were there but we weren’t able to exploit them.” “I would have preferred the team to show it has an identity, and it did that,” Spalletti said. “At certain moments we’re a bit light, we’re not good at bringing that determination. But it can happen, especially at the start. We’ll work on it.” ............ “Frosinone are a strong side, with a coach who has given them this conviction. It’s not easy to manage, because they come at you,” he said. ............ “If you manage to free yourself from these little prisons then there’s freedom. It depends whether you want to be free or a prisoner. At certain moments we want to become prisoners even when we’re free.” Spalletti also confirmed Guglielmo Vicario’s stoppage-time withdrawal on his Serie A debut was nothing to worry about. “No, just cramp,” he said. “There was a moment when he felt a strong pull and we preferred to substitute him.” .
