  1. PALERMO - JUVENTUS 0 - 1 Álvaro Morata (70') Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Alvaro Morata the Juventus hero as leaders boost advantage at Palermo Mar 14, 2015 Juventus barely broke sweat as they won 1-0 at Palermo to extend their advantage at the top of Serie A to 14 points. Substitute Alvaro Morata scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute as Juve did enough and no more ahead of their Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund. Palermo did little to test them, and could have no complaints as they wasted an opportunity to move up to seventh at the Renzo Barbera. Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes to his side, although there were a few alterations with Wednesday night's clash in Germany in mind. Andrea Barzagli made his first start in over a year at the heart of the defence, while Patrice Evra was rested and Paolo De Ceglie started. Up front, Allegri opted to field Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente -- but early on his players' minds rarely seemed on the task at hand. They posed little threat, but at the other end Gianluigi Buffon was a mere spectator. The hosts showed a little more intent in the second half, yet Buffon continued to remain untested as Barzagli gave a good account of himself on his return from injury. Allegri made it clear he did not want to settle for just a point as he sent Morata on for Llorente for the last 30 minutes, and it turned out to be an inspired move. The Spaniard picked up the ball on the edge of the area, turned and picked his spot in the far corner of Stefano Sorrentino's goal. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  2. PALERMO - JUVENTUS 0 - 1 Álvaro Morata (70') Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Alvaro Morata strike ensures Juventus sneak past Palermo Mar 14, 2015 Juventus edged past Palermo at the Stadio Renzo Barbera thanks to Alvaro Morata's second-half strike. There were few chances of note early on in Sicily, with Stephan Lichtsteiner's tame effort from the edge of the penalty area rolling wide of the post. Carlos Tevez then tested Stefano Sorrentino but the Palermo keeper fumbled his shot before the ball was cleared to safety. The Argentinian striker then turned provider, feeding in Stefano Sturaro who sliced wide as the visitors pushed for the opening goal. The Rosanero failed to record a shot on target as the sides headed into half time level. And it was Juventus who continued to dominate after the break, with Tevez's free-kick stinging the gloves of Sorrentino who punched away. Lichtsteiner's second chance of the game came from a Claudio Marchisio corner, but the Swiss international headed over. Spaniard Morata grabbed the game's only goal in the 70th minute, with his left-footed effort curling past Sorrentino. The result leaves Palermo 11th in the table, while Juventus are 14 points clear of Roma, who face Sampdoria on Monday. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  3. PALERMO - JUVENTUS 0 - 1 Álvaro Morata (70') Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Morata magic conquers Palermo A moment of Alvaro Morata magic gave Juventus the 1-0 victory in Palermo, ending the Rosanero’s five-month unbeaten home run. Mar 14, 2015 Awaiting Roma's result against Sampdoria on Monday night, the leaders go 14 points clear. The Bianconeri were without Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Martin Caceres, Kwadwo Asamoah and Romulo, plus rested several other stars ahead of the Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund, but Andrea Barzagli got his first start of the season. The Sicilians had Michel Morganella and Giancarlo Gonzalez sidelined. The last stalemate here was 1-1 in February 1969, followed by four home wins and six for the visitors. Carlos Tevez did not rest and his long-range swerving strike almost surprised Stefano Sorrentino early doors, while Stefano Sturaro turned wide on a Tevez through ball. Palermo took a long time to wake up, Giorgio Chiellini sneakily using his body to prevent Luca Rigoni from reaching a Dybala assist and Andrea Rispoli’s shot charged down. Paolo De Ceglie attempted an overhead kick on his Juve debut, but failed to fully connect with the Fernando Llorente knock-down, while Tevez scuffed a finish wide. Arturo Vidal replaced a nervous Sturaro for the second half and Tevez forced Sorrentino to palm away a curling free kick. Palermo were more aggressive after the break and earned a series of corners with efforts charged down, but Juve found the moment of magic this game sorely needed. Alvaro Morata cut in from the right and curled a magnificent left-foot curler into the far top corner from the edge of the box. The Bianconeri’s slow-burn approach is shown by the fact their last seven goals all came in the second half. Barzagli flung himself in the path of Andrea Rispoli’s shot in the penalty area, while Morata blasted a counter-attack over, but the Spaniard was booked for clattering into Dybala and will be suspended against Genoa. Palermo provided too little, too late, as their final push was unable to end a 10-match unbeaten home run. The only other side to win here was Lazio back in September. Palermo: Sorrentino; Vitiello, Terzi, Andelkovic; Rispoli, Rigoni, Maresca (Jajalo 63), Barreto (Belotti 76), Daprelà (Emerson 83); Vazquez, Dybala Juventus: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Sturaro (Vidal 46), Marchisio, Pereyra, De Ceglie (Padoin 76); Tevez, Llorente (Morata 60) Ref: Guida http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  4. PALERMO - JUVENTUS 0 - 1 Álvaro Morata (70') Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Palermo 0-1 Juventus: Morata Magic Breaks Rosanero Resistance Mar 14, 2015 A moment of magic from super-sub Alvaro Morata was required to earn Juventus a narrow 1-0 victory against Palermo at Stadio Renzo Barbera on Saturday evening in Serie A. The 22-year-old broke the deadlock 10 minutes after coming on with a delightful curled strike from just outside the area to rescue the points for the Bianconeri in a frustrating game with little in the way of goal action. Aggression was the order of the day as both sides cancelled each other out for the majority of the game, and a consistent stream of fouls saw no less than six players receive bookings. Franco Vasquez started things off with a sly trip on Stefano Sturaro, followed by Edgar Barreto who took plenty of Stephan Lichsteiner with a late sliding challenge. Vasquez’s indiscretions were eventually punished with a yellow card for treading on Claudio Marchisio’s foot in a half where only two yellow cards seemed lenient. In what was a fairly dull first half, Carlos Tevez tried to take the initiative 20 minutes in with a crack from all of 30 yards. His swirling shot proved tricky for Stefano Sorrentino who couldn’t keep hold of it, but fortunately for him, Roberto Vitiello was on hand to clear the ball away. Another foul on Pereyra five minutes into the second half gave the Bianconeri a good opportunity with a free kick 25 yards out. The continued absence of Andrea Pirlo left Tevez to strike it and the Argentine’s curled effort to the far corner produced a superb save from Sorrentino, who dove to his right to keep the game goalless. Andrea Barzagli joined the list of players cautioned straight after when he was forced to pull Paulo Dybala’s shirt to prevent the young forward racing away from him. Morata replaced the forlorn figure of Fernando Llorente on the hour mark as Massimiliano Allegri hoped to inject some energy upfront, even if it meant risking Morata ahead of the crucial Champions League second leg against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. The gamble paid off as the Spaniard finally produced the moment the game had been waiting for. Morata latched onto a well weighted pass by Marchisio and found himself with just enough space outside the area to side step Sinisa Andelkovic and send a beautiful low curling shot into the corner of the net. Morata almost doubled the lead when he exchanged passes with Tevez down the left wing before marauding into the Palermo defence, but this time lacked the composure to finish as he shanked the ball over the bar. Giuseppe Iachini’s men strived to find a way back into the game in the closing stages, but Juventus’ high line and intense pressure off the ball made it near impossible to string attacks together. The game continued to follow the same pattern as it had before Morata’s goal with scraps of possession in midfield seeing the game meander towards a 1-0 finish. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  5. PALERMO - JUVENTUS 0 - 1 Álvaro Morata (70') Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Palermo 0-1 Juventus: Super-sub Morata sends Bianconeri 14 points clear The Spanish striker came off the bench in Sicily to earn Massimiliano Allegri's men a hard-fought win with a sublime curling effort 20 minutes from time. Mar 14, 2015 Alvaro Morata stepped off the bench to secure an off-form Juventus side a hard-earned 1-0 Serie A victory at Palermo. The league leaders were far from their fluent best in Saturday's encounter at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, where Palermo have excelled this term. But Morata struck in the 70th minute to hand Massimiliano Allegri's men all three points - stretching the champions' lead at the top of Serie A to 14 points over Roma, who play Sampdoria on Monday. Juve lacked their usual attacking fluency in a first half devoid of chances, with the suspended Paul Pogba a sore loss in their midfield. However, the visitors showed more attacking verve in the second half, Carlos Tevez seeing a well taken free-kick saved before Morata's seventh Serie A goal of the season won it. Juve will now head to Borussia Dortmund seeking to make the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons, with the Turin club protecting a 2-1 lead from the first leg. They can likely ill-afford as slow a start in Germany as they had in Sicily though, Stephan Lichtsteiner firing the first shot in anger wide of the post in the 13th minute. Tevez then tried his luck from range and Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino was left thankful that no Juve player followed in as he spilled the Argentine's effort. Stefano Sturaro was handed a debut in the absence of Pogba and the 22-year-old was next to go close as he showed good feet to burst into the penalty area before his left-foot shot went wide. A muted atmosphere reflected the flat nature of the match, although the home fans screamed for a penalty when Luca Rigoni ran into Giorgio Chiellini as the Italy man shepherded the ball out. Allegri introduced Arturo Vidal for Sturaro at half-time in a bid to inject life into the midfield. Tevez almost provided the spark in the 52nd minute with a superb 25-yard free-kick that drew a fine stop to his right from Sorrentino. At the other end, Andrea Barzagli struggled to cope with the pace of Palermo danger man Paulo Dybala on his first start of the season- the Juve centre-back deservedly earning a yellow card with a cynical foul to stop the striker breaking free. Morata was brought on the replace the disappointing Fernando Llorente on the hour mark. And the former Real Madrid man made the telling contribution 10 minutes later, toying with the Palermo defence before bending his shot into the corner from the edge of the penalty area. Palermo pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but were consigned to a first defeat in 11 league home matches as Juve displayed typical title-winning grit. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

8. PALERMO - JUVENTUS .- Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Andrea Barzagli returns for Juventus clash at Palermo Mar 14, 2015 Juventus have brought in Andrea Barzagli for their match against Palermo in Serie A. Playing three at the back, Barzagli comes into the starting XI alongside Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente start up top for the league leaders. Palermo, who have not lost a home league game since September, have made three changes as they line up in a 3-5-2 formation. Andrea Rispoli, Roberto Vitiello and Enzo Maresca all come in for the club who are currently 11th in the table. Palermo: Sorrentino; Vitiello, Terzi, Andelkovic; Rispoli, Rigoni, Maresca, Barreto, Daprelà; Vazquez, Dybala Juventus: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Sturaro, Marchisio, Pereyra, De Ceglie; Tevez, Llorente http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

  10. PALERMO - JUVENTUS .- Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Game Time Thread Juventus vs. Palermo Mar 14, 2015 In a couple of hours, Juventus' lead atop the Serie A will be 14 points. Or it will be 12 points. Or maybe it will stay right where it is when they arrived at the Renzo Barbera Saturday night at 11 points. Those three options are all in play when Juventus takes the field against Palermo in just a matter of minutes. The lead in Serie A is safe. Paul Pogba's goal against Sassuolo on Monday ensured us the ability to say exactly that. With Roma playing Sampdoria on Monday night, Juventus can push their lead — at least for a short 48-hour period of time — even higher and higher with their 19th Serie A win of the season. We can talk about the Champions League being a few days away all we want. But outside of everybody in black and white — or maybe blue based on the first Juventus-Palermo game this season — seeing Max Allegri's squad play well might be the most important thing heading into the decisive trip to Germany in a couple of days. That's not exactly something they've done a lot of lately. It's been a slog at times, a struggle at others. Juventus aren't close to the top of their game, kinda stuck on cruise control right now with plenty of room to improve being rather obvious at this point. Will they start their turn for the better today? It won't be easy considering Palermo is rather good at home this season. But it sure would be suggest considering the second leg against Borussia Dortmund in just a couple of days will be, oh, only the biggest game of the season. (Yeah, no pressure, fellas.) Eleven. Twelve. Fourteen. One will be left standing in the end. Which one shall it be? The starting lineups for both Juventus and Palermo will be RIGHT HERE when they become available. I'd write a Simone Padoin joke, but he's actually expected to play, so there's no reason to go to the prepared comedy. I'll have to think of something for Rubinho instead, even if he isn't all that funny. (He should be, huh? The guy never plays!) http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  11. PALERMO - JUVENTUS .- Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Line-ups: Palermo-Juventus Mar 14, 2015 Juventus make several changes for the tricky trip to Palermo, where they face Paulo Dybala and Franco Vazquez. It kicks off at 18.00 CET. The Bianconeri are 11 points clear at the top of the table, but this is far from an easy task for Max Allegri’s men. Paul Pogba is suspended with Andrea Pirlo, Martin Caceres, Kwadwo Asamoah and Romulo sidelined. The Coach also rests Patrice Evra, Arturo Vidal and Alvaro Morata. It means Stefano Sturaro gets his first start since arriving from Genoa in January. Above all, Andrea Barzagli receives his first start of the season, having recovered from repeated Achilles tendon problems. Palermo rely on their star forwards Dybala and Vazquez, while Andrea Rispoli fills in for the injured Michel Morganella and Giancarlo Gonzalez. These sides have not shared the spoils, home or away, since a 1-1 draw in Turin in September 2004. The last stalemate here was 1-1 in February 1969, followed by four home wins and six for the visitors. Palermo have just one home Serie A defeat all season, 4-0 to Lazio in September, winning seven and drawing five. Palermo: Sorrentino; Vitiello, Terzi, Andelkovic; Rispoli, Rigoni, Maresca, Barreto, Daprelà; Vazquez, Dybala Palermo bench: Ujkani, Milanovic, Joao Silva, Emerson, Della Rocca, Bolzoni, Chochev, Quaison, Ortiz, Jajalo, Bentivegna, Belotti Juventus: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Sturaro, Marchisio, Pereyra, De Ceglie; Tevez, Llorente Juventus bench: Storari, Rubinho, Ogbonna, Pepe, Morata, Padoin, Vidal, Matri, Evra http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  12. Marotta: Juventus Gave Up On Gabbiadini Mar 14, 2015 Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta spoke about Juventus’ decision to allow Gabbiadini to move to Serie A rivals Napoli, stating the Bianconeri had to give up on the forward. Gabbiadini had been co-owned by both Juventus and Sampdoria, with Napoli buying up 100 per cent of the player’s right when they completed his €13 million signing in January. Marotta spoke in an interview explaining that, with Juventus’ interest in other players, the Bianconeri had to make tough decisions and renounce on Gabbiadini. “We are looking at what is around and how to bolster our attacking line,” Marotta said to Radio Deejay. “[For example] We like Dybala, who is a great young talent with great value; other players like [simone] Zaza and [Domenico] Berardi are also being monitored, as well as we already have [Alvaro] Morata. “Therefore we had to make a choice and give up on Gabbiadini because we cannot have too many players in the same age group.” Gabbiadini has had a great start to his Napoli career, with the 23-year-old scoring three goals in eight matches to add to his 10 goals with Sampdoria in the first half of the season.
  13. PALERMO - JUVENTUS .- Saturday, March 14th, 2015 - 6:00 PM Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo Referee: Marco Guida Zamparini: '€40m offer for Dybala' Mar 14, 2015 Maurizio Zamparini claims there is “already a €40m offer in my hand” for Palermo's Paulo Dybala, but is it Juventus or Manchester United? The Argentine sensation is only 21 years old, but scored 12 Serie A goals in 25 games this season, along with eight assists. “Has Dybala already been picked up by Juve? Absolutely not,” President Zamparini told Radio Due. “I already have a €40m offer in my hand, but if someone else gets into the race then we’ll see what happens. “Were Manchester United behind this offer? I won’t tell you the name of the club, not even if you torture me!” As well as Juve and Manchester United, Roma are thought to be interested in striker Dybala. “Anything can happen in football. The Giallorossi have good financial capabilities and it’s possible Walter Sabatini could take him away. We’ll see.” Zamparini confirmed he’ll be in the stands at the Stadio Barbera for today’s game with Juventus, which kicks off at 17.00 GMT, but the notoriously superstitious patron won’t be watching. “I am accompanying some Russian associates who are big football fans. After that I might stay on my own in a little room or go to pray to Santa Rosalia...” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  14. We can get €80m for Pogba, say Juventus The Bianconeri have admitted that many sides want the French international but added that they have no interested in selling the midfielder. Mar 14, 2015 Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta claims that several top European clubs are willing to pay €80 million for Paul Pogba. The 21-year-old midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Italian champions, despite the fact that he is under contract until 2019. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City are all said to be ready to launch record transfer raids for the France international, and Marotta has admitted that the Turin giants could cash in on him tomorrow if they so wished. "There are so many buyers for Pogba,” Marotta told Radio Deejay. “There are teams ready to spend 70-80 million euro for him, but we don't want to open negotiations because we want keep him to continue to develop here.” Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, claimed this week that while he could 2sell Pogba to PSG or Man City in a heartbeat", his client is currently settled and happy to stay in Turin. Meanwhile, Marotta also revealed that Juve were interested in Italy international Marco Verratti prior to the 22-year-old’s €12 million move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2012. "We had contacts in that summer he went to PSG, but we had just taken Pogba [from Manchester United]," he explained. “Then came the offer of [PSG director] Leonardo and we could not match it."
  15. Marotta: 'Juve were close to Verratti' Mar 14, 2015 Beppe Marotta reveals Juventus were “very close” to Marco Verratti before PSG pounced, but they “won’t open talks” for Paul Pogba. The Bianconeri had been on the verge of taking a then-teenage Verratti from Serie B side Pescara in 2012. “We had contact with him that summer he went to Paris Saint-Germain, but we had just signed Pogba and had other more urgent requirements,” Marotta told Radio Deejay. “Then PSG’s offer arrived and we were unable to match it, but the negotiations had been at a very advanced stage. We were very close.” Now Pogba is thought to be worth up to €100m, though Juventus continue to slam the door on all offers. “His worth is also dictated by potential buyers. He has many of those, but we are the ones who won’t open talks because if we want to raise the bar then that means focusing on players like him. “There are certainly clubs prepared to pay €70m-€80m for Pogba.” As for Andrea Pirlo, Marotta notes Juve are trying to keep him in Turin. “He has given a great deal to Juventus and his contract runs until 2016. When he decides to quit, we will respect that, but we also hope he’ll want to stay with us beyond that date.”
