CAGLIARI 1 - 4 JUVENTUS Mauricio Pinilla (21') Fernando Llorente (31′) Claudio Marchisio (73′) Fernando Llorente (76′) Stephan Lichtsteiner (80') January 12, 2014 - 3:00 PM Sant'Elia Stadium — Cagliari Referee: Marco Guida Attendance: 6000 Cagliari 1-4 Juventus: 5 Things We Learned Jan 12, 2014 Cagliari put in a spirited display against the champions, but ultimately, like last Sunday, it was too much Juve! http://markting10.nl/ It has been something of a trend lately, with the Italian media often summarising the Bianconeri's performances with Troppa Juve! (too much Juve!). Fernando Llorente bagged a brace, with Stephan Lichtsteiner and a Claudio Marchisio screamer securing an 11th consecutive victory, a new club record. Cagliari entered life without Radja Nainggolan, and there were some positive signs (more of which later), but Juve are a different beast right now to anything else in Serie A. Here are five things we learned. http://markting10.nl/ Defensive Organisation Missing Without Barzagli Andrea Barzagli's absence today through suspension illustrated exactly what he brings to the Juve side. The Azzurri international brings organisation and a calming influence when the Bianconeri set up to defend set pieces and crosses. http://markting10.nl/ Throughout the 90 minutes against Cagliari, Juve struggled to stay tight to their markers, most notably for Mauricio Pinilla's opener, when Giorgio Chiellini was caught sleeping. There appeared to be a lack of communication throughout, and Barzagli's return will ensure that the defence is better prepared to deal markers who are mobile and interchange positions in anticipation of the delivery. http://markting10.nl/ More Crosses from the Wide Areas Will Bring the Best out of Llorente An obvious point to notice, but one that will be important for the rest of the season and also into the summer when deciphering which players should be targeted in the market. Stephan Lichtsteiner, himself an excellent crosser of the ball, displayed how effective Fernando Llorente can be when he is provided with the right service. http://markting10.nl/ A ball with height and pace for the Spaniard to attack will bring plenty of goals for the Old Lady, as Llorente showed great leap in his jump to rise high and drive home the equaliser. Kwadwo Asamoah rarely demonstrates a similar delivery when positioned in advanced, wide areas of the pitch, which could signal a push for a left-sided player of Lichsteiner's ilk in the summer. http://markting10.nl/ David Moyes May Not Have Been Convinced from What He Saw David Moyes was in the stadium for the game, and according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Manchester United manager was scouting several players: centre-back Davide Astori and forward Victor Ibarbo from Cagliari and Juve's Arturo Vidal. Obviously, he would have likely not learned anything new from Vidal, a world-class player widely regarded as the most complete player in Europe. But Astori may not have totally convinced Moyes, with Cagliari succumbing, eventually, to sustained Juve pressure and shipping four goals. http://markting10.nl/ While Ibarbo, recently returning from an injury, was brought on as a substitution, the Colombian made little impact with the space between Juve's midfield and defence limited. With a significant lead, the Bianconeri dropped deep before the end. This nullified Ibarbo's best asset, his pace, meaning rarely could he stretch his legs and expose Juve. http://markting10.nl/ Given United's weak midfield, perhaps Claudio Marchisio would have impressed Moyes enough to take note. Il Principino gave Juve the lead with a thumping strike from range and his ability to ease Juve over the line by keeping things moving smoothly and generally looking after possession tidily will have been noticed. http://markting10.nl/ Lichtsteiner Back to His Best Stephan Lichtsteiner spent two months on the sidelines injured, but the Swiss international is now back to his best. Lichtsteiner's end product is reliable, and it makes for a perfect outlet to build Juve's attacks from. http://markting10.nl/ With the midfielders and strikers knowing exactly when to time their runs, or pull out wide to link up with the former Lazio player. It is no coincidence that Llorente was constantly finding half-chances inside the penalty area, as the Spaniard trusts the ball to be delivered, unlike Lichtsteiner's replacements while he was out. http://markting10.nl/ Marchisio Gives Conte Some Food for Thought Claudio Marchisio put in a stellar cameo against Cagliari to remind Antonio Conte what he can offer. Marchisio demonstrated his ability to strike the ball from range on goal and generally ensured that Juve's possession was moving smoothly. http://markting10.nl/ His movement, particularly once he has released the ball, is also impressive, always offering a return ball for a team mate and an angle to maintain possession. Displacing Pogba, Vidal or Pirlo will be tough immediately, but it may dissuade Conte from even contemplating a sale at this point. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

CAGLIARI 1 - 4 JUVENTUS Mauricio Pinilla (21') Fernando Llorente (31′) Claudio Marchisio (73′) Fernando Llorente (76′) Stephan Lichtsteiner (80') January 12, 2014 - 3:00 PM Sant'Elia Stadium — Cagliari Referee: Marco Guida Attendance: 6000 Llorente bags brace as Bianconeri come from behind Jan 12, 2014 Juventus overcame an organized and resilient Cagliari 4-1 to continue their winning ways atop Serie A. http://markting10.nl/ Mauricio Pinilla scored the lone goal for the home side. Fernando Llorente scored two while Claudio Marchisio and Stephen Lichtsteiner added goals for league-leading Juventus. The visitors came to Sardinia on the strength of their 3-0 demolition of their closets challengers, Roma, last weekend. Playing in front of only 4,800 spectators at the Stadio Sant’Elia due safety concerns amid the ongoing construction created a surreal atmosphere. When Mauricio Pinilla slotted home a shot from a corner kick to give Calgiari an early lead in the 21st minute things got even more surreal for the visitors considering that Juve had conceded only one goal in their previous 10 matches. The goal seemed to spring the Rossoblu into life. http://markting10.nl/ Martin Caceres, replacing a suspended Andrea Barzagli on the Juve back line picked up the first yellow card of the match with a poorly timed challenge shortly after the restart. Pinilla and Marco Sau peppered Gianluigi Buffon with threatening shots, testing his awareness at the empty end of the stadium. However, with the game opening up more than perhaps Diego Lopez planned for, Juventus struck back in the 31st minute through Llorente. The Spainard headed past his countrymen, Antonio Adan, from a Stephan Lichtsteiner cross. Juventus had made several runs down the right side and created several good chances earlier in the half, finally capitalizing on this occasion. The second half began much like the closing minutes of the first 45, Juventus using Lichtsteiner down the right flank to push forward and open up the middle for Llorente and Carlos Tevez and Cagliari despite their recent struggles to score goals displaying a more aggressive attitude, pressing for turnovers and pressing towards Buffon’s goal. http://markting10.nl/ Pinilla, the Sardinian’s best threat all day long, could have put them ahead in the 63rd minute when he missed badly after Buffon had failed to clear. Both managers sought to liven up their attack shortly thereafter. Antonio Conte replaced Andrea Pirlo with Claudio Marchisio while Lopez added Victor Ibarbo for Sau. Conte’s move proved the wiser. Marchisio, seemingly from nothing, laced a ball into the top corner from 30 yards out merely nine minutes after coming on. Conte nearly tackled his assistants along the touchline as the Old Lady finally broke the Sardinian deadlock. David Moyes, watching from the tribune, hunting for January transfer midfield talent, must have been impressed as well. http://markting10.nl/ Llorente and Lichtsteiner combined late on for the third and fourth goals for the visitors, inflating the scoreline beyond a reflection of the determined Cagliari effort. Llorente easily slotted home the third in the 76th, unmarked at the far post from a precise cross from the Swiss international and Lichtsteiner closed the scoring, punching in a loose rebound from Adan after a Llorente shot in the 80th minute. With Roma cruising to victory over Genoa this Sunday match day, Juve maintains their seemingly unsurmountable lead in the league. However the two title contenders are set for an anticipated Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash in less than two weeks time. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

CAGLIARI 1 - 4 JUVENTUS Mauricio Pinilla (21') Fernando Llorente (31′) Claudio Marchisio (73′) Fernando Llorente (76′) Stephan Lichtsteiner (80') January 12, 2014 - 3:00 PM Sant'Elia Stadium — Cagliari Referee: Marco Guida Attendance: 6000 Juve epic Cagliari comeback Juventus had to fight back from a goal down to beat Cagliari 4-1 in Sardinia, their 11th consecutive victory. Jan 12, 2014 The Bianconeri went into this game on cloud nine, having won 10 in a row and crushed Roma to go eight points clear at the top of the table. The Winter Champion crown was already secured and Antonio Conte only missed the suspended Andrea Barzagli. Cagliari had lost star midfielder Radja Nainggolan with his move to Roma, while Nene, Sebastian Eriksson and Michael Agazzi were out, but they were unbeaten in seven. http://markting10.nl/ Only 5,000 fans were allowed into the Stadio Sant’Elia due to restructuring work, but Manchester United manager David Moyes was among those in the stands, reportedly to watch Cagliari defender Davide Astori. It was Cagliari who took a shock lead from a worked corner, which was knocked on by Daniele Conti for the unmarked Mauricio Pinilla to fire in from seven yards at the back post. It was a crucial morale-booster for the Chilean, who had missed a penalty in last week’s 0-0 draw with Chievo. It was almost 2-0 soon after, as from another corner kick Conti was allowed a free header over the bar. Gigi Buffon then leapt to palm a Pinilla snapshot round the upright, but Juventus drew level thanks to Fernando Llorente. The Spaniard soared above Rossettini to nod a Stephan Lichtsteiner cross into the top corner. http://markting10.nl/ Cagliari were still very sharp and Daniele Dessena got on top of Kwadwo Asamoah to get a diving header on to Nicola Murru’s cross, forcing a spectacular reaction save from Buffon. Adan smothered an Arturo Vidal rocket and Lichtsteiner failed to finish off a good Asamoah assist. The tension was growing after the break and Carlos Tevez tested Adan, while Pinilla failed to make the most of a misunderstanding between Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini. Claudio Marchisio came off the bench and gave Juventus the lead for the first time this afternoon. He hit an absolute rocket from 25 metres, but ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan could’ve done better, as he did get his hands to it. http://markting10.nl/ Juve broke away at the Sant’Elia with a third moments later. Lichtsteiner combined with Vidal on the right and rolled a ball across the face of goal for Llorente to tap in, completing his brace. Adan’s confidence was clearly shaken, as he then made an even worse howler by fumbling Llorente’s timid angled drive and allowing Lichtsteiner to follow it up. The tension got to Pinilla, who was sent off for dissent late on. http://markting10.nl/ CAGLIARI: Adan; Pisano (Cabrera 77), Rossettini, Astori, Murru; Dessena, Conti, Ekdal (Perico 82); Cossu; Pinilla, Sau (Ibarbo 66) JUVENTUS: Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Vidal (Padoin 83), Pirlo (Marchisio 66), Pogba, Asamoah; Tevez (Giovinco 82), Llorente Ref: Guida Sent off: Pinilla 86 (C ) http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

CAGLIARI 1 - 4 JUVENTUS Mauricio Pinilla (21') Fernando Llorente (31′) Claudio Marchisio (73′) Fernando Llorente (76′) Stephan Lichtsteiner (80') January 12, 2014 - 3:00 PM Sant'Elia Stadium — Cagliari Referee: Marco Guida Attendance: 6000 Llorente at the double The Spain international helped himself to two goals, with Claudio Marchisio and Stephan Lichsteiner the other goalscorers for the Bianconeri. Jan 12, 2014 Fernando Llorente struck twice as Juventus came from behind to beat 10-man Cagliari 4-1 and record their 11th successive Serie A victory. http://markting10.nl/ Mauricio Pinilla put Cagliari in front midway through the first half with a powerful finish before Llorente's precise header levelled matters before the break. But three goals in seven second-half minutes sunk Cagliari. Claudio Marchisio scored Juve's second in front of Manchester United manager David Moyes, in attendance as he reportedly mulls over a move for the Italy international, while Llorente and Stephan Lichtsteiner tapped in from close range to guarantee the points and ended Cagliari's seven-match unbeaten run, who saw Pinilla sent off late on. http://markting10.nl/ Both sides each made one enforced change from last week. Antonio Conte replaced the suspended Andrea Barzagli with Martin Caceres, while Cagliari drafted in Daniele Dessena in place of Radja Nainggolan, who departed for Roma on Wednesday. Juve went into the game in phenomenal form on a run of 10 straight wins and created the first chance early on when Lichtsteiner swung a cross onto the head of Llorente, but the effort was straight down the throat of Antonio Adan. But it was Cagliari who drew first blood after 20 minutes. Andrea Cossu's cross was flicked on and found Pinilla in space 12 yards out, and he lashed past the helpless Gianluigi Buffon. http://markting10.nl/ The home side went into the game with the champions unbeaten in seven and Pinilla unleashed a 25-yard drive that forced Buffon into a sprawling save. But Juventus had dropped just four points away from home all season and drew level after 31 minutes when Llorente met Lichtsteiner's superb cross, 12 yards out, and powered a header into the top corner. They were indebted to Buffon moments later when he made a miraculous save to keep the scores level. Nicola Murru's left wing cross found Dessena six yards out but his low header was somehow repelled by the Italian goalkeeper, with Lichtsteiner wasting a golden chance to put Juve ahead just before the break. http://markting10.nl/ Conte's men started to take control, with Carlos Tevez forcing Adan into a fine low save, but their pressure finally told after 72 minutes when Marchisio rifled home a 30-yard stunner. The win was secured three minutes later when Lichtsteiner's low cross was tapped in from close range by Llorente for his seventh league goal this season. http://markting10.nl/ And the Switzerland international got on the scoresheet himself, 10 minutes from time, when Adan fumbled a weak Llorente shot and he bundled in the rebound. Cagliari's misery was compounded late on when Pinilla was shown a red card for dissent. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

Moyes at Cagliari-Juventus to scout Marchisio & Astori The Manchester United boss will be disappointed to see the Italy midfielder named on the substitutes' bench, while Fiorentina have confirmed their interest in Anderson. Jan 12, 2014 By Paul Clennam David Moyes is at the Sant'Elia Stadium in Cagliari to keep an eye on Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, Goal understands. The Manchester United manager is also on the island of Sardinia to monitor Davide Astori, Cagliari's 27-year-old centre-back, but it is Marchisio who is the key target. AMAZONIAN THE VIEW FROM ITALY Sergio Chesi | Goal Italy It’s not the best moment for Claudio Marchisio at Juventus. Paul Pogba’s growth has relegated him to a replacement role, especially after an injury kept him out of action for several weeks at the beginning of the season. It’s hard to see Juventus selling him in January, though it could be different if a very good offer arrives at the end of the season. Juve still need to make some cash to improve their squad every season and they could do with Marchisio the same thing they did with Giaccherini and Matri last summer. AMAZONIAN However, Moyes will have been disappointed to learn that the Juve midfielder was named on the substitutes' bench for the match, just as he had been for the Bianconeri's 3-0 win over Roma a week ago. In fact, Marchisio has started just 10 of Juve's 18 matches this season due to the emergence of former United midfielder Paul Pogba. AMAZONIAN Moyes' trip to Italy comes as United step up their winter recruitment programme, according to various reports over the weekend. A newspaper report on Sunday afternoon has claimed that first-team coach Phil Neville is in Spain to cast his eye over Rayo Vallecano's 19-year-old defender Saul Niguez, on loan from Atletico Madrid. Goal has also learned that Moyes has been given £150 million to spend in January and over the summer, and will overhaul his squad by allowing a number of players to leave Old Trafford.
