  1. Ravanelli weighs in on Juventus situation: “Allegri is not the problem, the players aren’t ready” Juventus legend Fabrizio Ravanelli came to the defense of Max Allegri when discussing the current situation at the club. ............ White Feather believes that the main issue lies in the quality of the players at the coach’s disposal. The 55-year-old backs his claim by noting that the manager had done well when he had a superior squad at Continassa, in a reference to his first stint at the club between 2014 and 2019. “I don’t think Allegri is the problem for this Juventus side”. “Whenever he had the necessary resources, he has always been able to bring out the best in the team. But today, the players are not ready to compete for the title. “During their excellent run, they have pushed themselves beyond the limit, but the team is not ready to win a tough league like Serie A.” ............ 2. Juventus vs Frosinone: Preview Juventus host Frosinone at the Allianz Stadium on Serie A Matchday 26, and they need to get back to winning ways as they lose further grip on leaders Inter. The Bianconeri were held to a 2-2 draw by Hellas Verona in the previous round of action, and they have been winless for four matches. However, they remain in second place with 54 points after AC Milan lost to Monza, while Inter are nine points in front and have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Frosinone are equal 14th with Udinese on 23 points, and they have lost their last three matches. The Canarini also have a few players on loan from Juventus such as Matias Soule, Enzo Barrenechea, and Kaio Jorge. Soule has arguably been the best player of the season for the Ciociari, but the other two will also have points to prove to La Vecchia Signora. Juventus vs Frosinone: Predicted line-ups Juventus will miss Danilo, Moise Kean, and Mattia Perin due to injuries, but Mattia De Sciglio could return after a long layoff. Gleison Bremer will returning after serving a one-match ban, but Dusan Vlahovic could be suspended if he receives one yellow card. ............ Juventus predicted XI vs Frosinone (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Rugani; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Yildiz, Vlahovic Frosinone predicted XI vs Juventus (4-3-3): Turati; Lirola, Romagnoli, Okoli, Valeri; Gelli, Barrenechea, Mazzitelli; Soule, Cheddira, Harroui Juventus vs Frosinone: When does the Serie A fixture start? Kick-off in the Serie A Matchday 26 fixture of Juventus vs Frosinone is set for 12:30 CET, local time in Italy, on Sunday, February 25. 3. Juventus hierarchy confirms confidence in Allegri but postpones renewal talks Juventus manager Max Allegri still has the backing of the management, but his future at the club remains shrouded in mystery. ............ As we all know, Allegri still has another year on his contract which is valid until 2025. However, the tactician doesn’t fancy entering the final year of his deal. Therefore, the parties will either renew their collaboration and push back the deadline, or decide to part ways at the end of the season. The hierarchy will continue to back Allegri until the end of the campaign. The manager still has the club’s full confidence. However, the club directors have decided to put all contract talks on ice, delaying the matter until the end of the season. ............ 4. Allegri considers changing Juventus formation – The two options revealed Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri could reportedly adopt a new tactical setup in the coming fixtures. ............ The 56-year-old has been working on a new formation that includes the attacking trident of Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Chiesa and Kenan Yildiz. Since these three stars can’t all fit in the current 3-5-2 system, Allegri would have to ditch it in favor of a more attacking approach. ............ Nevertheless, the club’s recent disappointing results could accelerate the tactical change. This could prompt the birth of a 3-4-2-1 formation. Moreover, the source notes an alternative solution in the shape of a 4-2-3-1 module, similar to the one deployed during the second half against Hellas Verona. Chiesa and Andrea Cambiaso acted as advanced wingers, while Yildiz operated as an attacking midfielder, before being replaced by January signing Carlos Alcaraz. This system also saw Weston McKennie acting as a right-back, while Alex Sandro seems to be the only natural option for the left-back spot (since Cambiaso is playing as a right-winger), at least until Mattia De Sciglio regains his full fitness. 5. Carlos Alcaraz could help Allegri usher in a new Juventus formation Juventus manager Max Allegri could be looking to launch a new formation, and Carlos Alcaraz can play a central figure in this tactical transition. ............ While he has yet to make his full debut, Alcaraz could have a significant role to play in the coming weeks. Allegri is contemplating a tactical switch from the current 3-5-2 formation to a 4-3-3 system or one of its variants. This could see the Bianconeri usher in a new 4-2-3-1 formation, with the January signing playing as an attacking midfielder behind Dusan Vlahovic, while Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot occupy the double-pivot roles. ............ 6. Allegri and Giuntoli diagnose main Juventus issue – The measures decided Juventus coach Max Allegri and the club’s Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli held open talks to identify the issues plaguing the squad as of late. The Bianconeri have failed to register a win in their last four outings, which effectively spelled the end of the Scudetto aspirations. Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona, Allegri and Giuntoli held open talks on Sunday to figure out the main problem that has been hampering the team in recent weeks. The duo agreed that the issue is primarily mental. ............ Allegri and Giuntoli decided that the manager would address the team, perhaps taking a more stern stance and raising the tone a little bit, hoping to give the players a wake-up call, without forgetting the merits accomplished earlier in the season. The coach will also be seeking assistance from the senior players in the squad who will have a major role to play in the coming weeks. The Bianconeri will be hoping to turn the corner starting with a win over Frosinone this Sunday. 7. Del Piero defends “excellent” Allegri and has a massage for the players: “At Juventus, you must improve” Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero weighs in on the situation at the club, urging the players to bring their A-game. The Bianconeri have been without a win in their last four fixtures, conceding two defeats sandwiched between two draws. The club remains second in the standings thanks to Milan’s defeat at the hands of Monza, but league leaders Inter are now out of sight. But while Allegri’s work has come under great scrutiny as of late, Del Piero doesn’t identify the manager as the main culprit. ............ “Last year, Allegri wasn’t good, he was excellent,” proclaimed the 2006 World Cup winner during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia. ............ “In a situation where things are not going well, it is clear that Allegri has his responsibilities, as does everyone, from the staff to the players.” “Is Allegri staying? If one day I find myself in the position to decide I’ll tell you. But now I can’t,” laughs the retired striker. Nevertheless, Del Piero seemed more critical of the squad. He insists that any player who join Juventus must show improvement. “There are situations that must change gradually. If you play for Juventus, you have to improve over time. “You can’t be the same player as the one you were upon your arrival. ” ............ 8. “Don’t forget me” – Gianluca Vialli’s last heartbreaking message to old Juventus comrades (Video) Marcello Lippi’s docuseries titled “Adesso vinco io” included a heartbreaking scene featuring the late Gianluca Vialli. ............ “We haven’t seen each other for a while but the thread that unites is everlasting. “We shared many things together, I made you win a Champions League,” prompting a big laughter from his old teammates. “I embrace you all with great affection. Above all, I embrace my messiah. I will never forget you, I hope you don’t forget me too.” Vialli tragically passed away on the 5th of January 2023 aged 58. ............ 9. Weah already out of Juventus plans? Bayern Munich fullback emerges as potential replacement Juventus are reportedly considering replacing Timothy Weah with Bayern Munich fullback Noussair Mazraoui. The American was the only player that the Bianconeri signed to bolster their first team in the summer. However, the 23-year-old has thus far failed to carve himself a regular spot in Max Allegri’s formation. Andrea Cambiaso remains the manager’s first option on the right flank. ............ Juventus would be willing to sell Weah in the summer if they were to receive an appropriate offer. On the other hand, Mazraoui has emerged as a possible replacement. The Morocco international joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 after seeing out his contract with Ajax. ............ Mazraoui primarily plays as a right-back, but can also feature in various roles along the two flanks, and even as a central midfielder. ............ 10. Alex Sandro admits Juventus was thinking about winning the league Juventus defender Alex Sandro has confessed that the team had aspirations of winning the league before encountering a rough patch in recent weeks. The Bianconeri were performing strongly and in close contention with Inter Milan at the end of the previous year and the beginning of the current one. ............. “Inter? It’s obvious that the thought of the Scudetto was there. Since I’ve been a footballer I’ve always hoped to get the most out of a championship. Now we have to look at our home country, the others follow a different path.” ............. Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/alex-sandro-admits-juventus-was-thinking-about-winning-the-league/
  11. Journalist explains why Juventus needs to replace Allegri with Motta Journalist Paolo De Paola believes he has seen enough of Max Allegri, and the Bianconeri manager is simply not good enough to remain at the Allianz Stadium. Juve was in good shape before this month, but in their last four matches, Juve has won none and could now finish the season outside the top two. ............. However, as things began to unravel, Allegri lost a lot of support, and Paolo De Paola believes he should be replaced with Thiago Motta. “Giuntoli found that Allegri (and rightly, as a responsible manager, defends him) did not choose him and we all remember how late he arrived at Juventus following the difficult separation from De Laurentiis. “The manager surprised everyone a bit in January with the Alcaraz coup (for the high ransom of 49 million) who has already shown his talent in the few minutes (unfortunately) that Allegri used him. “This team needs another guide to enhance what has, what has just arrived and what will arrive. Thiago Motta’s name appears to be the most suitable for a long-term project. We are all results-driven, but today, the result passes through the game, creating an inseparable and no longer divisive combination.” ............. 12. Vlahovic is top-scorer in Europe’s top five leagues in 2024 Despite Juventus’ recent struggles, it may come as a surprise to learn that Dusan Vlahovic is the leading scorer in Europe’s top five leagues in 2024. The Serbian striker, who was signed by Juventus from Fiorentina, is now showcasing his talent and justifying the investment made in him. Over the past few weeks, Vlahovic has been in remarkable form, scoring seven goals in six games in 2024. .............. Vlahovic’s statistics make him the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues since the start of the year, solidifying his position as one of the hottest strikers in the world. .............. 13. Danilo to miss at least two weeks after suffering sprained ankle vs. Verona Juve’s captain is now at risk of missing some big March fixtures. When Danilo crashed back down to the Bentegodi turf after going up for a header in the second half of Saturday night’s 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona and his landing looked anything but graceful, you knew something was up. Of course, seeing the Brazilian defender quickly crumble to the ground was a pretty good hint, but the simple fact that it was not a soft landing gave you the hint that he would have to grit things out the rest of the way. While Juve received some good news in terms of things potentially being worse, they’re now looking at another period of time where their captain is out injured. Juventus announced Sunday that Danilo underwent tests at J Medical on his injured left ankle that was clearly not right in the final minutes of the draw with Hellas Verona. The club has ruled out “ligament damage and any fractures” for Danilo, but suffering a sprained ankle will mean that he is certainly going to miss Juventus’ final game of February against Frosinone next weekend and could very well the game or two after that against Napoli and Atalanta. .............. Daniele Rugani and Alex Sandro are the only options to come into the starting XI against Frosinone and potentially Napoli. Considering that Frosinone have a winger on the right named Matias Soulé, one would think Allegri would go with the better defensive option in Rugani rather than somebody like Sandro, who is probably going to be more involved with the attack and making runs forward. (Plus, there’s the whole part where Sandro has not been very good at all in much of his appearances this season, but Allegri does love him some experience on the field.) 14. Juventus evaluating Allegri’s future: Thiago Motta the first name on Giuntoli’s shortlist Juventus have reportedly placed Thiago Motta as the first name on the shortlist in case they part ways with Max Allegri. The latter still has a contract running until June 2025. However, it is widely believed that the manager isn’t planning to enter the final year of his contract. He will either renew his deal or vacate his post at the end of the current campaign. While the renewal theory was gaining steam in previous months, the club’s recent slump could knock the 56-year-old off his perch. ............. The management will now evaluate the future of the Livorno native. Therefore, the two parties could decide to split at the end of the current campaign. As the source tells it, Thiago Motta remains on top of the list of possible replacements. The latter is enjoying a superb campaign at Bologna who are currently fifth in the Serie A table. Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli had reportedly tried to appoint the Italo-Brazilian during his days as Napoli sporting director. ............. Moreover, the source names Antonio Conte as another possible candidate for the role. The former Juventus captain and manager has been out of work since leaving Tottenham Hotspur last season. ............. 15. Italian media hand player ratings for Juventus: Gatti the worst vs Verona On Saturday evening, Juventus extended their terrible abysmal run to four matches in a row with a 2-2 draw away to Hellas Verona. ............. In the ratings of the mainstream Italian news outlets, none of the Juventus players earned a high rating. Almost everyone received mediocre grades between 5 and 6/10. Nevertheless, Federico Gatti earned the worst grades overall. ............. 16. Juventus provide medical updates on Danilo – Estimated recovery time revealed The official Juventus website has released a statement providing updates on the condition of club captain Danilo. The 32-year-old sustained an ankle knock during yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona. Nevertheless, he was forced to remain on the pitch as Max Allegri had run out of substitutions at that point. .............. “Following the injury sustained against Hellas Verona on Saturday, February 17, Danilo underwent medical tests at J|Medical on Sunday morning,” reads the official note. “The tests ruled out ligament damage and any fractures to his left ankle, and the player has begun the rehabilitation process. He will continue to be evaluated day by day.” .............. Danilo will be out of action between 10 to 15 days. .............. 17. Another blow for Juventus as Danilo suffers a knock against Verona – Napoli trip at risk The problems are piling up for Juventus as club captain Danilo risks missing out on the action after sustaining a knock. The Brazilian had skipped last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Udinese due to a suspension, before making his return against Hellas Verona. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a prosperous comeback for the 32-year-old, as the team had to settle for a disappointing 2-2 draw, thus extending their winless streak to four matches. Moreover, Danilo suffered a knock when he fell to the ground late in the match. .............. Danilo appears to have sprained his ankle. .............. The defender genuinely risks missing out on Juve’s upcoming clash against Frosinone next Sunday. Moreover, the skipper could also skip the away clash against Napoli on March 4th. This will be a true blow for Allegri who hasn’t been able to rely on his two best defenders (Danilo and Gleison Bremer) together on the pitch in the last two matches due to consecutive suspensions. .............. 18. “We don’t exploit” Allegri laments Juventus draw against Verona Max Allegri openly acknowledges that Juventus has undone much of the positive work achieved at the start of the Serie A season, particularly after their 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona this evening. Entering the game to rejuvenate their season following a three-game winless streak, Juventus faced a formidable Verona side equally determined to secure a victory for their battle against relegation. ............. After the game, Allegri said: “In this phase we are long, we don’t exploit situations in the open field and we allow several counterattacks. Even against Udinese, we had five chances and we didn’t score a goal. In football, you take a long time to build and a little to destroy, now we have had two draws in four games.” ............. 19. Juventus 2 - Hellas Verona 2: Initial reaction and random observations Another weekend in February in which dropped points are the overarching theme of the day. Heading into the final weekend of January, I sat here and wrote about how Juventus had enjoyed quite the pleasantly surprising runs that we’ve seen from them of Max Allegri’s second stint in charge. They were winning, they were scoring goals galore and they were racking up shutouts and they were putting serious heat on league leaders Inter Milan so much that they were spending a short time actually atop the table. All of three weeks and four games later, Juve haven’t just fallen out of the Scudetto race and essentially handed the title to Inter, but come crashing back down to earth in the kind of fashion that you really have no idea where this team is going all of the sudden. The latest confirmation of that came Saturday evening at the Bentegodi in Verona, as Juve had to fight back twice from being a goal down to get a point against Hellas Verona in a 2-2 draw. Sure, they scored their first two goals in the month of February, but it was another stark reminder that things are not right and that struggling against another relegation battler means that Juventus’ season has gone from Scudetto push to simply trying to hold on for dear life as the distance between where they are and those outside of the top four suddenly becomes smaller and smaller. ............. That’s all of two points collected in four games. Three of those opponents are ones that are actively trying to avoid getting relegated to Serie B a few months from now. And yet, they didn’t beat any of them. Not a single one. That’s something they avoided from taking place for much of the first half of the 2023-24 season, but as great as the first four weeks of the new year was, the same can’t be said about this second month of 2024. It’s tiresome. It’s been tiresome. It’s only getting more tiresome as we watch Juventus’ advantage over Milan in third place shrinking to the slimmest of margins and run the risk of fully going away 24 hours from now. These types of results happened under multiple managers, but only exaggerated under Allegri for the simple notion that he was supposed to be the agent that made things better when compared to a rookie manager like Andrea Pirlo. Instead, we’ve seen uninspiring performances and dropped points galore, with this current four-game run featuring three relegation battlers on the schedule and no wins recorded. That is where Juventus are at right now. They have crashed so hard and so quickly that they are now struggling to even get a point against teams that are either in the relegation zone or just outside of it. ............. Juve had 18 shots and put all of four of them on target, with one of those being Dusan Vlahovic’s PK to tie things up a half hour in. Nearly half of those shots were blocked. Another six of those were off target. Against one of the worst defenses in Serie A, Juve barely challenged Montipo in goal. That’s not going to cut it against a relegation battler or a contender for the top four. And the same old problems of years prior are now coming back into the spotlight because they’re dropping points in four straight games. January was fun, man. February is the complete opposite. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS What are the odds Milan beat Monza and Juve’s in third place at the end of the weekend? I feel like it’s a pretty good chance of happening ............. Juventus, statistically, has one of the best defenses in the league. On Saturday, they allowed Hellas Verona to record one of their highest shot attempted totals this entire season. I get that Juve’s defense was without their best player because Bremer was suspended, but you just can’t let that happen. It’s almost a little surprising with how this game was played and how Juve’s defense was stretched that it finished at 2-2. Going off that, Wojciech Szczesny made a season-high seven saves against Hellas Verona. I get that a lot of them weren’t exactly tough saves and a lot of those shots were right at him, but the simple fact that Szczesny was called into action so many times is the worrying part. ............. Chiesa constantly missing scoring chances that we all know he would bury if he was in better form makes me sad. This is not the Chiesa we know. Bring me back the Fred Church we all know and love. Juve need him so bad. Juve finished with an xG of 1.68. Nearly half of that total was on Vlahovic’s PK. Not great, folks! Adrien Rabiot with one of those classic showings where he was having a complete stinker and then he pops up and scores a goal. I was seriously texting a Juve friend about how bad he was playing right before Manuel Locatelli jumped on the loose ball and sent in the cross to Rabiot. Sometimes, these things just work out like that. Kenan Yildiz had some good moments against Hellas Verona. He also had some not so great moments. Kinda what you expect from an 18-year-old kid who’s still getting his footing as a player who is being relied on as one of the few creative outlets on this team. He’ll get there because of his talent level, but there’s going to be some obvious growing pains along the way. We got the chance to see Chiesa, Vlahovic and Yildiz all on the field together! It lasted all of about eight minutes. Hope you enjoyed it! ............. This team is clearly not mentally there right now. That Empoli draw was the major blow and the subsequent games after that were more body shots that they couldn’t afford to take. It was nice for Carlos Alcaraz to get some good minutes in a game in which Juve’s midfield was struggling to create much. He had some nice combination and passes in the final third, most notably with Chiesa down the left channel. Consider me intrigued, Charly. ............. 20. Juventus slump continues at Verona as Bianconeri fail to win again Juventus dropped two more points in Serie A this evening during their visit to Hellas Verona, effectively putting an end to their aspirations of winning the league. Max Allegri’s team was anticipated to start the game with intensity, intending to secure nothing less than a victory. However, it was Verona who surprised the Bianconeri by taking the lead just 11 minutes into the match. With Juventus aiming to stay in the title race and Verona striving to maintain their top-flight status, both teams had the desire to secure a win. Despite equalising through a penalty after 28 minutes, Juve’s situation didn’t change significantly, as Verona remained resolute in their efforts to challenge the black and whites. ............. Despite fans’ hopes for Juventus to build on this and secure the next goal, even the introduction of Federico Chiesa and Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t secure a winning goal for Juve. As a result, the Bianconeri will return to Turin with just a point. With Juventus now out of the title race, there’s a possibility of being overtaken by AC Milan if they win their upcoming game.
