Lichtsteiner: Juventus have won 31 titles The Bianconeri were stripped of two Scudetti as a result of the 'Calciopoli' scandal but the Swiss feels that both triumphs still stand. Sep 5, 2012 Stephan Lichtsteiner has admitted that he believes Juventus should have 31 title triumphs to their name. The Bianconeri were stripped of two titles (2004-05 and 2005-06) because of their involvement in the 'Calciopoli' refereeing scandal that rocked the Italian game seven years ago. http://markting10.nl/ Consequently, the issue of just how many championships is a contentious one, but Lichsteiner has a clear opinion on the controversy. "Still there are some who try to explain that Juventus would not have won those two revoked championships on the field, but it is not so," the wing-back told Neue Zurcher Zeitung. "Those titles were won by the team on the field. For me, Juventus have won 31 Scudetti. "There's not much else to add ... I will not talk further about this topic." Lichsteiner, who is currently on international duty with Switzerland, joined Juventus from Lazio in 2011.

Chiellini wary of Bulgaria threat Sep 5, 2013 Giorgio Chiellini has warned his Italy teammates not to underestimate the threat posed by Bulgaria tomorrow. http://markting10.nl/ The Azzurri face the Eastern Europeans in a crucial World Cup qualifier in Palermo, and the Juventus defender has claimed that his side are focused on making the tournament in Brazil, and has insisted that club loyalties will not get in the way. “Italy are not guided by a Juve block,” he told reporters. “They are too many players from different clubs for that to happen. “There are a lot of players from Milan, for example. What we do at club level gives us confidence at international level, certainly. “But we are a very united group. Everything goes beyond the individual clubs. “We have not qualified yet, so we cannot underestimate Bulgaria. They are an excellent side. “We want to achieve our goal as soon as possible, so we have to concentrate on playing as well as possible in Palermo.”

Sabella has 'one eye' on Tevez Sep 5, 2013 Argentina Coach Alejandro Sabella has admitted that Carlos Tevez will be hard to ignore if he continues scoring for Juventus. http://markting10.nl/ The striker has netted twice for the Bianconeri since his summer move from Manchester City, but has not been included in the Albiceleste squad. “It is not right to talk about players that are not here,” he told a Press conference. “But I can say that we always have one eye on our players. “Although the quality of our attackers is already very high, if his level remains this high for Juventus, it will be difficult to keep him in Turin.”

INTER - JUVENTUS September 14, 2013 6:00 PM Giuseppe Meazza Stadium — Milan Referee: Daniele Orsato Inter striker could make comeback from injury against Juventus Sep 5, 2013 Inter’s Argentine striker Diego Milito could be ready in time to feature in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus on September 14. http://markting10.nl/ The 34-year-old is a long-term injury absentee and hasn’t played for Inter since rupturing cruciate ligaments seven minutes into the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Europa League win over CFR Cluj in February. However, according to TuttoJuve.com manager Walter Mazzarri could name Milito on the bench for the encounter at the San Siro, depending on how the veteran progresses in the next 10 days. The Argentine international faces a decisive test on his road to recovery with a friendly against Lugano on Saturday morning, which will help determine if he will be ready to play in an official match.

Buffon 'quite worried' about Bulgaria qualifier The veteran keeper admits his side will need to be fully focused as they look to move clear at the top of Group B in the race to reach the World Cup. Sep 5, 2013 Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon is "quite worried" about his side's crucial World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday. Cesare Prandelli's men can take a huge step towards automatic qualification from Group B for Brazil 2014 with a win at Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo. http://markting10.nl/ Buffon and his side sit four points clear of Bulgaria with four matches to play but the 35-year-old Juventus goalkeeper is concerned about his team's chances against Lyuboslav Penev's men. "I'm quite worried for the match against Bulgaria, as always before matches that become decisive for qualification," Buffon said on Wednesday. "We deserve the qualification for what we've done up to now but we haven't gained it yet. We will have to prepare and face the match with great attention to take another important step forward." In PSV's Stanislav Manolev and Aston Villa signing Aleksandar Tonev, Bulgaria have two of the group's top scorers with three goals each. Buffon is wary of the individuals in Bulgaria's side and warned his team-mates the visitors would try and punish them on the counter-attack. "Bulgaria are a team with two or three important single players but they're also a very close group that knows very well how to face these kinds of games, trying to defend well and counter-attack," said the veteran goalkeeper, who is in line to equal the record number of performances for the Azzurri in the upcoming qualifiers. "They have three or four good runners and they're in good condition. We need to be good at limiting them." Buffon was also full of praise for Prandelli, who may step down after the 2014 tournament according to reports in Italy. "Prandelli's touch was and is very important because he made us believe that we can try and reach aims and win also having fun, playing well and improving the technical aspects of a game," Buffon added. "It's been a turning point compared to our past."

Pogba can play in Pirlo role Sep 5, 2013 Paul Pogba will be asked to dictate play for Juventus this season when Andrea Pirlo is unavailable, says boss Antonio Conte. The Frenchman is currently being used on the left of the three central midfielders given the injury to Claudio Marchisio. http://markting10.nl/ But Conte, speaking to the Corriere dello Sport, thinks he has the ability to be given the playmaker responsibility if necessary. “Pirlo is a champion who can’t be equalled and there is nobody in Italy, even if some are getting better, with his characteristics, his direction or who can give such peace of mind to the squad," stated the Coach. “That being said, Pogba can fill the vice-Pirlo role. He already did that last season and, if there is the need, he can mask the absence of Andrea even if they have different characteristics. “Paul is a modern midfielder who can play in any midfield role because of his physique, fitness and his ability to break into attack. “He is a complete player, although one who still has big margins of improvement to make.” The 20-year-old, now a full France international, joined Juve from Manchester United a year ago.

Lichtsteiner hails Juventus start Sep 5, 2013 Stephan Lichtsteiner has explained how important it was for his Juventus side to start the season well. The Old Lady had struggled for results in pre-season, but they lifted the Italian Super Cup against Lazio before collecting League wins against Sampdoria and the capital outfit again. http://markting10.nl/ “It is always key to start the campaign well and we managed to do that,” the Swiss international told sport.ch. “Winning the Super Cup and our first two Serie A games was the best way to begin 2013-14. This start has only raised our self confidence.” September will be a big month for the Old Lady given that they will be facing Inter and Real Madrid. “I’m only thinking of the games against Iceland and Norway at this moment in time,” added the wing-back. “They are two matches that we desperately want to win. There will be time to think about Inter and Real at a later stage…”

INTER - JUVENTUS September 14, 2013 6:00 PM Giuseppe Meazza Stadium — Milan Referee: Daniele Orsato Jonathan: Mazzarri gives me confidence Sep 4, 2013 Inter defender Jonathan has praised new Coach Walter Mazzarri for revitalising his Nerazzurri career. The Brazilian centre-back had struggled to break into the San Siro side’s first team since his 2011 move from Santos. http://markting10.nl/ But the 27-year-old has now started both League games so far this term. “The merit of my recent performances have been because of Mazzarri,” he told Sport Mediaset. “The Coach has given me confidence and that is really important. “Now we have to play Juventus, which will be tough. They are a strong team. Conte has worked well for years and manages to get the best out of his players. “Playing at San Siro will give us an extra boost though. “I’m sure we will give them a great challenge and maybe even beat them.”

Marotta plans Juventus January signings Sep 4, 2013 Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta is reportedly already busy planning for January’s transfer window. http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri have been busy this summer, acquiring Argentine Carlos Tevez, Spanish World Cup-winner Fernando Llorente and Angelo Ogbonna among others, but they still have unfinished business. Tuttosport reports that Marotta’s first priority in January remains Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan of Cagliari, who was close to joining coach Antonio Conte’s squad just a few days ago. Although the transfer didn’t go through, the good relationship which exists between Isolani president Massimo Cellino and Juventus officials could see the deal completed in January. Meanwhile, the pursuit of Napoli winger Juan Camilo Zuniga will continue, with Conte having strongly requested the player. The firm no from Napoli has put a stop to the transfer for now, but after Christmas this could change.

Buffon on prospect of cap record Sep 4, 2013 Gigi Buffon is looking beyond the 136-cap record that he could equal with the Italian national side next week. The Juventus custodian will draw level with the tally of Fabio Cannavaro if he features against Bulgaria on Friday and the Czech Republic, at the Juventus Stadium, on Tuesday. http://markting10.nl/ “If all goes well, it would be a great achievement,” he stated. “However, it was predictable in a way given that I started with the national team at such a young age. “It will certainly be nice though, satisfying, because I have been in the national side for 16 beautiful years – in the squad since 1997 and a first choice since 1998. “Saying that, I’ve also had my injuries which raised doubts which I have been able to overcome.” World Cup winner Buffon, born in January 1978, made his debut in October 1997 during a World Cup qualifier in Russia. “There is a sense of honour when you represent your country,” said the custodian who has conceded 109 goals while wearing the Azzurri gloves. “You understand that with time, with maturity. Every appearance with the national side is not just a game, but something more.” Buffon obviously can’t stop the sands of time and, after a few errors over recent months, there are question marks over how much longer he can perform for his country. “There would be no problem if I wasn’t called up or if I was benched. The most important aspect is the team. “I personally would not turn down a call up. It would be like spitting in the face of good fortune, something that so many people want but only a few have the chance to experience.” The captain was also inevitably asked for his opinion on speculation that boss Cesare Prandelli will leave the Italy bench after World Cup 2014. “It’s not a problem because, like at a club, professional relationships can come to an end. It seems that we are all being gripped by an untimely anxiety,” he added. “With all due respect, we have a World Cup to think about. Our attention needs to be towards that. “Could Antonio Conte take over? Conte hasn’t said that he is leaving Juventus. “I didn’t think there could be candidates for the job already, even if it is normal that a Coach at a certain level would aspire to such a job. “A lot of people would make themselves available for the job and I think a new Coach could be found as quickly as four or five days after the World Cup is over.”

Marrone returns to midfield Sep 4, 2013 New Sassuolo signing Luca Marrone wants to resume his career as a midfielder after being used in defence at Juventus last term. The 23-year-old has joined the Neroverdi after the latter signed 50 per cent of his contract from the Turin giants for a fee of €4.5m. http://markting10.nl/ “If I have to be honest, the role I prefer is playing in front of the defence,” the former Italian Under-21 international commented after his experiences in a back-three in 2012-13. “I want to become an important part of this team and finally be able to demonstrate my worth,” he continued. “I thank the club for wanting me so much. My objective is to play with the regularity I did not have at Juventus.” Marrone has gone from targeting the championship with the Old Lady to fighting for survival with the newly promoted club. “We haven’t started the season on the right foot, but I’m certain the victories will arrive. We’ll know how to get some satisfaction.” Sassuolo lost 2-0 at Torino in Week 1, while they were thumped 4-1 at home by Livorno at the weekend.

Buffon targets Cannavaro record The 35-year-old will equal the former centre-back's appearance tally for Italy if he plays in his nation's upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifiers. Sep 4, 2013 Gianluigi Buffon has set his sights on equalling Fabio Cannavaro's 136-cap record for Italy this week. The 35-year-old will draw level with the former centre-back if he plays against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic in the Azzurri's upcoming World Cup qualifiers and admits the feat would bring great satisfaction. http://markting10.nl/ "If all goes well, it would be a great achievement,” The Juventus goalkeeper told reporters. “However, it was predictable in a way given that I started with the national team at such a young age. “It will certainly be nice though, satisfying, because I have been in the national side for 16 beautiful years – in the squad since 1997 and a first choice since 1998. “There is a sense of honour when you represent your country. You understand that with time, with maturity. Every appearance with the national side is not just a game, but something more.” Buffon also says that, if the time comes when he loses his place in side, he will accept that the decision is for the good of the side. “There would be no problem if I wasn’t called up or if I was benched. The most important aspect is the team," he continued. “I personally would not turn down a call up. It would be like spitting in the face of good fortune, something that so many people want but only a few have the chance to experience.” Finally, the world's most expensive goalkeeper gave his thoughts on rumours suggesting Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli will leave his job after the 2014 World Cup, with current Juve boss Antonio Conte replacing him. “It’s not a problem because, like at a club, professional relationships can come to an end. It seems that we are all being gripped by an untimely anxiety,” he added. “With all due respect, we have a World Cup to think about. Our attention needs to be towards that. “Could Antonio Conte take over? Paul Pogba’s Time to Shine Sep 2, 2013 Years of adjective abuse have left football fans almost immune to reading the praise of players. Laden as it is with terms cheapened beyond all recognition, the game is littered with false idols and forgotten heroes who were prematurely labelled ‘World class’ or tagged as the next big thing. Such lazy narratives and poor journalism have left us with no way of saying something too positive without sounding ridiculously hyperbolic, or looking like an opinion piece is merely trawling for hits. http://markting10.nl/ It is into such a vacuous landscape that many articles about Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba have been flung in recent months. Often, the words ‘Manchester’ and ‘United’ are hamfistedly crowbarred into their titles, largely because search engine optimisation is the troll equivalent of catnip, and is the entire reason many of these pieces are even penned in the first place. The young Frenchman has become the darling of headline writers, quick to make use of nicknames such as JuventiKnows own ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Pogba’ (which remains brilliant!) or the well thought out ‘Polpo Paul’, bestowed by commentator Claudio Zuliani in homage to Marcel Desailly. The player’s penchant for Balotelli-esque hairstyles and the prominence of racist chants in his direction have also served to ensure the twenty year old is never far from the front page of Italy’s sports dailies. For me, it is easy to admit that when it came to Pogba I was hugely skeptical. Where and when would he get on the pitch I asked, convinced that Juventus was far too heavily stacked in midfield for him to ever find a reasonable amount of playing time. The rumored high wages of his new contract, the way he left first Le Havre and then Old Trafford only added to my personal doubts. Those concerns were also multiplied infinitely by the additional issues that dealing with his representative – none other than the vomit inducing Mino Raiola himself – would bring upon the already under pressure management of the club. With Beppe Marotta being criticised from all angles, I’ll readily admit that at this time last year I could see no real benefit in bringing Pogba to Turin. While my opinion ultimately counts for nought, I was far from the only one expressing doubts. United and Sir Alex Ferguson were so desperate to hang onto him as their own midfield lay bereft of quality, many saw his departure as yet another example of the agent driven greed which has spoiled so many promising young talents. However, in spite of all these factors, and in a squad boasting some of Europe’s very best midfielders, Pogba still enjoyed a breakthrough season. In a squad which had won the Serie A title in the season prior to his arrival, for a coach who has a seemingly pathological fear of fielding young players or rotating his lineup, he amassed thirty eight appearances. Well, I say ‘in spite” but perhaps ‘because’ would be much more accurate. Yes, BECAUSE he left Manchester United, BECAUSE of all the doubts, BECAUSE Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Kwadwo Asamoah are his team-mates and BECAUSE he defied Sir Alex Ferguson, Pogba enjoyed a debut season very few people connected with Juventus will ever forget. Because, when all is said and done, Paul Pogba is an extremely talented footballer. Even just the bare statistics of his 2012-13 season tell the story of a supremely well rounded player. His tally of five goals – including match winners against Napoli, Bologna and Udinese – barely scratches the surface of a contribution that shows him to be excellent in the air, a superb defender and an intelligent distributor of the ball. His per game averages of 2.5 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 1.8 clearances prove how much cover he provided the back three, while the 2.3 aerial duels he won were only bettered at Juventus by Giorgio Chiellini (2.8). “We started working on him a year ago and his progress has been incredible. I saw his interviews in which he said he wanted to become the best in the world. I am happy with that, because in my view he can be the best.” -Antonio Conte He created 31 clear goal scoring opportunities last term, a figure which – given the arrival of far more clinical strikers this summer- will undoubtedly lead to an increase in the number of assists Pogba records. Indeed, after failing to register any in the previous campaign, he has already made three this year. The first was setting up Carlos Tevez for the fourth strike in the Super Cup rout of Lazio. paul-pogba-juventus-dribblingHis second assist gave Tevez for the only goal of the league opener against Sampdoria. The third came in just week two against Lazio. Those chances are born out of his smart use of the ball as he completed 83% of his 1,037 pass attempts (38.4 per game). It hasn’t all been smooth sailing however, with the player suspended in May for spitting at an opponent who slapped him, and dropped for November’s trip to Pescara. That incident stemmed from Pogba twice being late to training, something he later described as “a mistake.” He was quick to make amends however, displaying a maturity he was often accused of lacking in the English tabloid press. “I will do my utmost to make sure I do not make the same mistake again,” he told TuttoSport. “I will not be late again in the future. The matter is closed now as far as I’m concerned.” Conte took the same approach, barely mentioning it in public and treating the player very differently than Sir Alex Ferguson previously had. Speaking to France Football in May, the midfielder recounted his first conversation with his new coach, telling them that the former Juventus captain had pushed all the right buttons; “He said ‘If you think you can establish yourself here, come, and we’ll see if you’re able to do it, show us what you can do.’ He pushed me, he struck where it was needed to convince me. I like being given challenges like that. I like indirect provocation,” Manchester United losing out on him has been lamented, lambasted and laughed at, but it seems the player was inspired by the manner of his exit. The desire to prove his choice to leave was not wrong, to supplant one of the established Bianconeri trio in midfield and repay the faith of Conte is what drives him. As Pogba went on to say in that same France Football interview; “That’s my goal: to be the best in my position, then the best in Europe and then the world. That’s what I want to do, what I would like to do.” With the startling progress he is making, Paul Pogba might yet just pull it off.

Barzagli abandons Italy camp Sep 2, 2013 Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli has left the Italy training camp due to an injury problem. He had been called up for the two World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. http://markting10.nl/ However, medical staff evaluated his condition today and sent him back home to Turin. Barzagli had limped off during Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Lazio with an inflamed Achilles tendon. It is likely Barzagli will be replaced in the Azzurri back three by his Juventus teammate Angelo Ogbonna. Italy play Bulgaria in Palermo on Friday September 6 and host the Czech Republic at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on Tuesday September 10.

Juve confirm Marrone-Berardi deals Sep 2, 2013 Juventus have announced the co-ownership sale of Luca Marrone to Sassuolo, while they have part signed Domenico Berardi from the same club. http://markting10.nl/ The midfielder, 23, leaves Turin for the newly promoted outfit after a €4.5m fee – payable in two years – was agreed with the Neroverdi. Meanwhile, Juve have bought 50 per cent of forward Berardi for the same amount. The 19-year-old will remain on loan with Sassuolo for the 2013-14 campaign.

Sassuolo wrap up Marrone deal Sep 2, 2013 Sassuolo will today confirm the signing of Luca Marrone from Juventus on a co-ownership agreement. The midfielder, who was used as a defender last term by Antonio Conte in Turin, put pen to paper on a contract last night. http://markting10.nl/ It is understood that the 23-year-old, one goal in 15 Serie A games for the Bianconeri, has cost the newly promoted outfit a fee in the region of €3.5m. Juventus and Sassuolo are also still in transfer discussions regarding Domenico Berardi. The Turin giants could sign a 50 per cent share in the 19-year-old attacker, but allow him to remain with the Neroverdi for this term.

Bonucci: 'This is Conte's Juve' Sep 1, 2013 Leonardo Bonucci explained his assist technique and why the side that beat Lazio 4-1 “is the Juventus Antonio Conte wants.” The defender set up two goals in last night’s Serie A match with perfectly-weighted balls over the top. http://markting10.nl/ “These are things we practice in training during the week. It went well tonight with my left foot, while I had already done a pass like that with my right in the game that won the Scudetto,” he revealed. “This is the Juventus that Conte wants, especially in the opening 25 minutes. We slowed the tempo after Miroslav Klose’s goal, but in the second half thanks to Mirko Vucinic we were able to restore our two-goal cushion. We then did well to finish off the match with Carlos Tevez. “Gigi Buffon had every reason to be angry with us, though, as we allowed Lazio too many shots from distance.” The victory came just two weeks after Juve demolished Lazio 4-0 in the Italian Super Cup. “We put in two great performances. In the Super Cup we punished them with goals in quick succession, whereas this time we built chances from start to finish. “We played with the same rage and passion that stood us apart over the last two seasons.”

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Petkovic: 'Too many mistakes' Aug 31, 2013 Vladimir Petkovic was again forced to rue Lazio mistakes against Juventus and sent a message to the club about Burak Yilmaz. The Biancocelesti lost 4-0 in the Italian Super Cup two weeks ago and 4-1 in Serie A this evening. http://markting10.nl/ “You cannot give Juventus the opportunity to score certain goals,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia. “We need to be sharper and more clear-headed both in defence and attack, because we had our chances too. “We went too deep and allowed too much space to the Bianconeri, a very strong side who keep the ball well and burst through with their midfielders. We should’ve been tighter and more compact. “Now there is the break for international duty and we must reflect on how to avoid certain situations.” Lazio President Claudio Lotito continues to insist there is no interest in Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, but Petkovic isn’t so sure. “Yilmaz? Burak has an excellent CV and is certainly a great player.”

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Conte: 'Spectacular Juve' Aug 31, 2013 Antonio Conte can’t help but be pleased after Juventus beat Lazio 4-1, particularly the “spectacular opening 25 minutes.” The Bianconeri pummelled their opponents in Turin this evening with an Arturo Vidal brace, Mirko Vucinic and Carlos Tevez. http://markting10.nl/ It came just two weeks after a 4-0 win over Lazio in the Italian Super Cup. “Winning again and putting another four goals past Lazio is a sign of our growing form, both as a collective and as individuals,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia. “We are shaking off the heavy workload of pre-season training and have won all three of our official matches. Today we were facing a tough opponent who always made us suffer. It’s a victory that gives us confidence, but we must never let our concentration slip. “We started very strong, particularly the spectacular opening 25 minutes in terms of intensity and organisation. When 2-0 up we conceded an unlucky goal from Miroslav Klose that put the brakes on us a little bit. “Lazio had several shots from distance and we do have to improve on defending those. In possession we cause problems and our opponents often try to hit us on the counter-attack, but we did well to prevent those. “We still need to improve, as in some stages there wasn’t enough pressure from the midfielders and we went too deep.” The Coach was asked about his Press conference on Friday, in which he complained the club forced him to sell Alessandro Matri and Emanuele Giaccherini. “I just reflected on the situation, that’s all. We need to concentrate on Serie A, as it’s going to be tough this year and we want to give our fans more to celebrate. There will be some squad rotation, so we need everyone.” Conte also confirmed Luca Marrone will leave Juventus, but “he didn’t tell me where he was going.”

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 This is Antonio Conte's Juve Aug 31, 2013 "This is Antonio Conte's Juve," beamed defender Leonardo Bonucci. Bursting with skill and technique, the Bianconeri swallowed Lazio's threat and spat out four spectacular goals to assert their strength in a league yearning for a worthy challenger to Conte's men. http://markting10.nl/ Once again it was thought Lazio would offer the competition more than a goal that La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport referred to as 'a mosquito bite on a successful summer evening'. There was genuine belief that the Biancocelesti, still recovering from their defeat in the Supercoppa would shed their hurt and exact revenge. Instead, they were overwhelmed by the sheer force of attacking options Juventus had available to them. Whether it be via the wings, through the middle or because of a beautiful weighted long ball, how does one halt a Juve capable of constructing attacking passages of play from anywhere? As Bonucci revelled in the mastery of his coach's wizardry, he explained the first 25 minutes were exactly what Conte wanted. Whilst there was a tendency to drop energy levels and settle into a lackadaisical tempo at the start of last season, this year, with Conte on the bench, the Old Lady is quick to fire on all cylinders, taking nothing for granted. Within the first 25 minutes, Juventus had already scored a goal and were about to score another. More importantly, they were playing like a determined team unit. Harrying, pressing, pushing forward and passing accurately, whenever possession was lost it was quickly recovered and the Old Lady was in complete control. The Bianconeri simply suffocated their opponents and ran away with their oxygen. The first 25 minutes of the game saw Juve recover the ball 12 times, manage 11 successful tackles, complete 167 successful passes and pertinently, score an almighty goal. Lazio, much like last time, proved disappointing despite their reputation. Gaping holes in the back and lapses in concentration allowed Juventus to sink their teeth in and punish them with intent. The gap between Lazio's centre-backs was easily exploitable, the ease with which a forward such as Carlos Tevez could drag a defender out of position was embarrassing, whilst individual errors allowed the likes of Mirko Vucinic to laugh his way to a third team goal. Naive and unfocused, Vladimir Petkovic would do well with reinforcing a substandard back-line. With the exception of Miroslav Klose's goal, Lazio did not excel in punishing the Old Lady for her own mistakes despite playing a solid first half. Juventus did well to limit their opponents from penetrating the area, restricting them to shots from distance and yet players like Antonio Candreva should have been closed down quickly and not allowed to simply shoot at goal. Compared to Juventus, who only managed five shots on target, Lazio had 11 efforts on goal. Having already scored five goals against Petkovic's men in this calendar year, one would be forgiven for thinking Arturo Vidal has a score to settle with Lazio. Making perfectly timed runs, the Chilean exposed the many gaps in the Biancocelesti's defence to dart through the middle of the back-line, control the pass and score. Having managed two goals in the first 26 minutes, it was difficult to conclude who deserved more of the praise, the goalscorer or the two assist men who delivered the perfect opportunity for goals. Paul Pogba, yet again, proved immense. His positional play and ability to scoop the ball and deliver perfect passes for Juve's attacking men to pick-up wrecked havoc on the pitch. Lazio were never quite sure what to do with him. Do they stay with Kwadwo Asamoah or track Pogba's runs? His physical stature and improved ability to shield the ball meant the opponent was never quite capable of robbing him, thus unable to stop those perfect vertical passes. Meanwhile Bonucci, never restricted from pushing forward to deliver perfectly weighted and accurate long balls, proved to be a game changer. Whilst the world concluded that he was inferior to Andrea Ranocchia when the duo formed Bari's strong centre-back partnership, Juventus noticed in him the desire to be the best. He was the one they wanted and he has more than repaid their faith in him. His never say die attitude, his concentration levels and always improving performances have seen him worthy of all the adulation he now receives. If Andrea Pirlo is restricted, Bonucci can deliver. A playmaker at the heart of defence, Juventus continue to demonstrate the level of skill present in every section of the field. Two games, two wins and another Tevez goal, can anyone stop the Bianconeri?

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Juventus 4 : 1 Lazio — Welcome home, Juventini Take home message for Lotito: If we had played the Supercoppa in Turin, Lazio would have at least scored a goal. Aug 31, 2013 What a team! There is not much else to say after seeing Juventus destroy Lazio in two competitive matches for an overall result of 8-1. Antonio Conte and many others went on record this week saying that this game would be different than the Supercoppa. And, in a sense, it was. I don't know the numbers from the Supercoppa match, but I would say Juventus pressed with more determination, passed with more accuracy, and moved with more purpose than in Rome a few weeks ago. http://markting10.nl/ So let's review the game shall we? Juventus started pressing like they did during Conte's first year as a coach. As soon as a Lazio player had a ball, they were swarmed by black and white shirts. It was really impressive to see Juventus pressing so hard against a team they defeated by four goals a few weeks prior. After 14 minutes came Arturo Vidal's beautiful goal from a Pirloesque Paul Pogba pass. However, one goal is nothing in football, so the boys kept on pressing. The second goal also came from 2012-2013 player of the year. This time, Leonardo Bonucci's pass left the Chilean alone in front of goal, 2-0. The intensity of the first 25 minutes was so much fun to watch. Juventus understandably slowed down after the goal giving Lazio more breathing room. Even with all the room, Lazio continued threatening only with mid-range shots. Three minutes after Vidal's goal, one of those shots from Hernanes was stopped by Gigi Buffon. Unfortunately, the rebound fell to Miroslav Klose who scored his first goal against Juventus (also, this was his 200th goal in 500 matches). Juventus seemed a little confused after the goal and continued to allow mid-range shots that were dealt by Buffon. Juventus needed to regroup and hearing referee Paolo Tagliavento blow the whistle at half time was a relief. Three minutes after the break Juventus restored their two goal cushion thanks to another long pass from Bonucci and a cool finish by Mirko Vucinic. Kudos to Carlos Tevez on this goal for pulling one of the defenders away from his place making it easier for Mirko. At this point, Lazio showed that they had no idea how to deal with the Old Lady. Things got worse for them when Hernanes received his second yellow for blatantly handling a ball in the area. Tevez wanted a goal badly and almost had it with a shot from the edge of the box, however the ball hit the framework. Fortunately, five minutes later, Tevez found the back of the net for the second time against Lazio and for the third time in an official match. Pagelle Buffon 6.0 - Buffon's rebound allowed Lazio to get back into the game. Yes, some of the blame should go to Pirlo or whoever was covering Hernanes but Gigi should not have given the ball like that. He was visibly upset for the rest of the match with the midfield and defense for failing to close down the Lazio players. Barzagli 7.5 - He was his solid beastly self again. I give him an extra 0.5 because he has been nursing an injury for the last 10 days and still chose to come out and play. Dedication! Bonucci 8.0 - Two beautiful assists today. He can't really be blamed for the goal. Chiellini 7.0 - Chiellini bossed that left side of the field for yet another game. Also, I noticed him getting a lot more involved in attacking than in the past. I don't know if this is a tactical switch or him just trying to score another goal against Lazio. Lichtsteiner 7.0 - Good running and pressing. He left after 79 minutes for Isla. Vidal 8.5 - Last year, Vidal showed that he can find the back of the net. He appears to have started exaclty where he left off, except this time, he wants to have as many goals as Tevez by the end of the season. If Bale is worth €100 million, and Pogba is worth twice as much as Bale according to Raiola, then a Vidal move to Real Madrid should leave Los Blancos bankrupt. Pirlo 6.5 - For the second time in Serie A, the ex-Milan player failed to get things going. Once Marchisio comes back, I wouldn't mind if Pirlo started on the bench for a game or two. Unless it is in Europe of course. Pogba 7.0 - Had a great 30 minutes (just like the rest of the team). I thought he drifted away from the match after the first 30 minutes of the match. Asamoah 6.5 - Played a good defensive game (most tackles other than Vidal). Tevez 7.5 - His understanding with Vucinic keeps getting better. Also, him and Vidal found each other successfully on a number of occasions today. His work rate is commendable. Vucinic 7.0 - I always struggle with Vucinic's rating. Do I give him a 5.0 for going missing during large periods of the match, or, do I give him an 8.0 for his goal and his movement on the Tevez goal? I am glad he wasn't sold this summer, as he brings something different to the team. That's of course when he brings it. Things I think I think •What is with all these rebounds, Gigi? I just hope they are out of your system. •Conte went on record saying that he did not expect Alessandro Matri's sale. I don't really know what he expected. Beppe Marotta has been saying Juve will sell two strikers for the last month. Did he not expect Matri would be one of them? I think Conte's rant was a way to motivate his players, to tell them that this season is far from a sure thing. If this game was an indication of the team's motivation, the I'd say it worked. •In previous seasons, the team had showed some nice passing in short spaces when we had to get out of our own box. This game I noticed the same but in Lazio's box. Vidal, Tevez, Pogba, and Vucinic had a few quick passes that threw off the Lazio defense. Unfortunately, the last pass was missing. That will only improve with time, and I can't wait. •Mauricio Isla coming off the bench for Stephan Lichtsteiner was surprising to say the least. All of last season I got so used to see Simone Padoin instead. So it looks like Conte is willing to give Isla another shot at being a Juventino. Let's hope he takes it. •This is one of those games where numbers don't tell the whole story. Yes, Juve managed 65 percent possession with a pass success ratio of 88 percent, but the numbers also say that Lazio had 11 shots on target compared to the Bianconeri's five. Lazio did manage to get Buffon to parry the ball a number of times (something that Conte said the team must work on) but Gigi generally had things covered. On the other hand, out of the five shots Juve had on target, they put four at the back of the net. That type of efficacy has been lacking for years in Turin but it may be coming back. It is such a welcome sight to see players like Tevez or Vidal converting once they get the ball in the area. The quality is there, and as much as Conte may think the club was weakened by loosing Matri, the overall quality of the team continues to get better and better. Now it is time to see what will happen on the last day of the market, but no matter what, we have a team to look forward to the season ahead.

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Juventus 4-1 Lazio: 8 Goals in 2 Weeks, Any Questions? Aug 31, 2013 To an outsider, it seemed all summer that the vultures were surrounding Juventus. There was talk of friction between Antonio Conte and Giuseppe Marotta, and while it seemed artificially inflated, Gigi Buffon admitted he’d considered the idea of Conte leaving this summer and was quite worried of the prospect. Juventus had a dismal record in the Guinness Champions’ Cup in America. Crown jewels like Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal were courted by cash-rich clubs, with tabloids like Marca claiming Vidal was certain to join Real Madrid. And there were stories about Juve’s new forward, too. Tevez was 6kg overweight according to the papers, and Llorente was having difficulty transitioning to Serie A. Before the Supercoppa even was played, some considered Juventus to be in crisis. http://markting10.nl/ MATCH ANALYSIS by Aaron Giambattista If the 4-0 humiliation of Lazio in the Supercoppa at the Stadio Olimpico did not allay fears, surely the 4-1 demolition at the Juventus Stadium will have. There is no crisis in the Bianconero camp. While the team did poorly in summer friendlies, as Antonio Conte responded, [he'll] “win the Guinness Champions Cup when Andrea Agnelli tells him to.” In the 3 official games, Juventus has won all 3, scoring 9 and conceding 1. A typically tactically compact squad like Lazio was twice dismantled, and Sampdoria was defeated in driving rain in a stadium unconquered since 2006. The machine marches onto a 3rd consecutive Scudetto. Lazio were easily brushed aside in the 4-0 drubbing at the Stadio Olimpico, but clearly Petkovic had done some homework since then. While the 4-1 scoreline suggests another one-sided affair, the men in blue played a competitive game. Hernanes and Candreva both rained in powerful strikes throughout the game, and while Juventus’ defense kept the 18′ tidy, Lazio were able to put significant pressure on Buffon from the outside. The game opened with an early Hernanes screamer after just two minutes, parried to the side from Buffon. It was a hint of Lazio’s plan, as they would pepper Buffon throughout the match. Juventus broke the deadlock early on, however, with Arturo Vidal exploiting the space between Lazio’s center backs and fullbacks to sidefoot a lovely Pogba assist into the back of the net. Just 10 minutes later, Vidal would again make a diagonal run exploiting the same space, latching onto a brilliant Bonucci long ball and finishing coolly past Marchetti. Lazio were shocked. They’d played a decent game thus far, with as many decent opportunities on net as Juventus, but were 2-0 just after a quarter hour. The Eagles however would immediately climb back into the match, with Buffon poorly parrying a Hernanes strike into the box, and Klose’s predatory instincts took over, tapping in to bring the deficit back to 1. Lazio continued to fire shots from outside of the box for the rest of the second half, with Buffon clearly unhappy about the midfield’s lack of pressure. Just after the half, Juventus again established a 2 goal lead, with Mirko Vucinic running onto another genius Bonucci long pass, and tapping a goal in at an incredibly difficult angle. The Montenegrin looked inspired all match, creating space for Vidal’s opener, striking a few good efforts on goal, and interchanging with Tevez well. He may be reassured that with Matri’s departure, he is almost certain to stay. Bonucci had out-Pirlo’d Pirlo in the match thus far, with two brilliant assists, but picked up a booking. He charges Hernanes down and tackled the ball, but the referee deemed it to be a foul and flashed Bonucci a caution much to his protest. Not much after, Hernanes essentially sealed the game for Juventus with a stupid handball in the box. He was given a second yellow and Lazio were down to 10 men. The game finished with Carlos Tevez. The Argentine had played a fine match the entire game, but had not gotten his name on the scoresheet. He struck the post with a wonderful left footed strike, and minutes later finished excellently from the edge of the box, curling a shot into the left lower corner. It’s Tevez’s 3rd goal in 3 official games. Juventus triumphantly opened the home campaign with a decisive 4-1 victory. LE PAGELLE by Aaron Giambattista Gigi Buffon 6.0 - On one hand, he should’ve done better with the (numerous) shots from outside of the box- he parried Hernanes’ shot straight into the path of Klose for Lazio’s goal. On the other hand, a lesser keeper wouldn’t have saved several of the shots he did, like Hernanes’ early shot at the near post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barzagli 6.5 - Looked completely comfortable in defense all match. The back three were incredibly solid for almost all of the Supercoppa, which is perhaps why Petkovic focused a bit more on shots from outside of the box this match. Barza and co kept a tight line this match as well, forcing Lazio to fire from outside of the box. ’84 Ogbonna s.v. - Sent on when the match was clearly over. Bonucci 7.0 - Sure, he could’ve kept track with Klose for Hernanes’ shot-cum-assist, but Bonu more than made up for it with his delightful passing. He saw the gap between the center defense and fullbacks and twice exploited it with diagonal passing for both Vidal and Vucinic’s goals. Showed that if Pirlo is being marked, he can pass from deeper – and just as well, sometimes. Chiellini 6.5 - Like Barzagli, he controlled Lazio’s attack with calm. The Eagles’ attack rarely ever troubled big Giorgio. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lichtsteiner 6.5 - Never stopped running up and down the flank. Dominated the right side of the field. ’79 Isla s.v. - Came onto the pitch for 10 minutes, perhaps as a show of faith from Conte in the Chilean wingback who has long been associated with a move to Inter. Vidal 8.0 - King Arturo is unstoppable, capable of deciding games singlehandedly. His two early goals, brilliantly taken, immediately set Juventus ahead in this skirmish. There is no price that would make up for his decisiveness. Pirlo 6.5 - With Vucinic, Tevez, Bonucci and Vidal taking the limelight tonight, one might say Pirlo had an off game, but that’s far from the truth. No jaw-dropping passes, but his presence and precision in midfield guaranteed Juventus long possession in this match. Pogba 6.5 - Sensational pass to Vidal for the opener, and overall showed great maturity in midfield. Should’ve shielded the defense a bit more, however. Asamoah 6.5 - Has developed into a great wingback at least defensively, but his offensive is still hit or miss. Today he was a positive on the field, but you still get the feeling he is not a natural wide player. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vucinic 7.5 - At the heart of many Juventus actions, the Montenegrin had a fantastic game and is showing potential of a tremendously talented partnership with Tevez. Had numerous shots on goal, scored a great volley, and set up some of Juve’s best actions. Today was the best of Mirko – let’s hope it long continues. Received a (deserved) ovation when he was substituted off. ’81 Quagliarella s.v. - Sent on for Mirko, Quagliarella didn’t have enough time to trouble the Lazio defense, but his entrance alone suggests Conte will use him this upcoming season. We should all hope he does, Fabio was great as a supersub/reserve last season, let’s hope him and Alessio/Conte have buried the hatchet. Tevez 7.0 - A bulldog on the field, he worked hard to move up top when Juve was in possession and pressured on defense. Struck the crossbar with a fantastic curler, bagged a great goal minutes later off a Vucinic assist. For someone supposedly overweight and/or struggling with Conte’s tactics, he’s slotted in incredibly naturally. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Antonio Conte 7.5 - For the second time in two weeks, his Juventus demolished what typically is one of the stingier sides in Serie A. Conte has Juve playing at an even higher level than in years past. The only question mark thus far is Conte’s reluctance to rotate/substitute, while it’s working great now, as fatigue and injuries slip in, he needs to tweak to maintain the best XI. ANALYSIS WRAP-UP by Aaron Giambattista Without a doubt, the most amazing thing thus far is not just Juve’s domination but the elevated level of play. Juve’s midfield and attack are frequently combining in ways completely different from Conte’s first two seasons. The interplay, passing, and exchanges have dissected the other teams defenses. In the last two years, Juventus would struggle to break down defensively solid teams, often relying on a defensive error or moment of brilliance to resolve a match. The triangle passing, backheels, and quick passing however is breaking down other teams’ easily thus far. While Juve’s offensive moves were somewhat predictable in the past, this Juve creates so many great opportunities that it’s only a matter of time before the other side’s defense fails to mark a midfielder and they bag a goal. Not surprisingly, all 3 matches thus far have been unlocked by a midfielder. The first goal in the Supercoppa was Pirlo’s deflected free kick being converted by Pogba, the only goal against Sampdoria was a through run from Pogba that freed Tevez to tap-in, and Pogba’s turn and pass today found Vidal making a diagonal run that Lazio’s center backs couldn’t mark. Indeed, three of the goals today came from either Vidal or Vucinic exploited the gap between center backs and fullbacks that Pogba and Bonucci threaded passes through. Whether it can continue is a question no one can answer, but the level of play Juventus is currently at is unseen in years. If it can continue, it could be the added level necessary to make a triumphant run in Europe…

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Player Ratings Goal rates every player as Juve make it two league wins out of two thanks to a double from Arturo Vidal alongside strikes from Mirko Vucinic and Carlos Tevez. Aug 31, 2013 Juventus Gianluigi Buffon - Was unconvincing and struggled to hold on to a series of long range shots, noticeably Hernanes's swerving effort which he parried into Klose's path, allowing him to score. Andrea Barzagli - It's no surprise that Juventus had the best defensive record in Serie A last season and Barzagli showed again why he is so valuable with his excellent reading of the game and good tackling. Leonardo Bonucci - Was the deepest of Juventus' central defensive trio but that did not stop him from stepping forward to execute two fantastic long balls to set up Vidal and Vucinic for their goals. Giorgio Chiellini - Another solid performance from the 29-year-old, who did an excellent job in marshalling Klose. The German did get on the scoresheet but ultimately failed to get the better of the Juventus No.3. Stephan Lichtsteiner - Couldn't quite replicate his scintillating Super Cup performance but an assured display nonetheless. The Swiss wing-back's energy has ensured that he is a crucial component in Conte's formula. Paul Pogba - The France midfielder continues to shine in Marchisio's absence and on this performance, it seems unlikely the Italian will regain his starting berth. Produced a wonderful chipped reverse pass for Vidal's opener. Andrea Pirlo - A typical performance from the bearded wizard who helped Juventus to dominate the midfield with his intelligence and superb range of passing. Arturo Vidal - Five goals against Lazio now for Vidal in this calendar year alone. Showed that he is one of Europe's best box-to-box midfielders with a brilliant display of passing, tackling, close control and finishing. Kwadwo Asamoah - Got into some promising advanced positions from left wing-back but never really looked a threat with his crossing. Was rarely exposed down his side. Carlos Tévez - Continued his promising start to his Bianconeri career with a typical hard-working performance. Dragged the Lazio centre-back pairing all over the pitch and was a constant menace with his dribbling. Made it three goals in three games with a brilliant placed effort. Mirko Vučinić - Seems to have thrived under the pressure of Tevez's and Llorente's arrivals. Worked his socks off up front and wasn't afraid to track back and help out the midfield. Deserved his goal. Substitutions Angelo Obinze Ogbonna - Introduced as a substitute in the final 10 minutes to add fresh legs to the defence. Mauricio Isla - Enjoyed his first minutes of the campaign but has a long way to go to push Lichtsteiner for a starting role. Fabio Quagliarella - Was introduced in the final ten minutes, perhaps to showcase his talent to interested clubs. Had little time to influence the game. http://markting10.nl/ Lazio Federico Marchetti - Couldn't repeat his heroics from last season and was helpless to deny either of Juventus' goals. Will feel let down by his defence. Stefan Radu - The Romanian defender struggled to contain the movement of Lichtsteiner and was at fault for failing to hold the line for Vidal's second. Luis Cavanda - Did a reasonable job against Asamoah but sometimes failed to track back. One of the few Lazio players who can take credit for his performance. Diego Novaretti - A horrendous error from the Argentine defender to allow Vucinic to score a third Juventus goal with ease. Looked out of his depth and failed to stick with his marker on numerous occasions. Lucas Rodrigo Biglia - Seems to be struggling to make the adjustment from Belgian football to Serie A. Didn't know whether to sit in front of the back four or close down Pirlo, both to which he did to minimal effect. Hernanes - Was a constant thorn in the Juventus defence with his neat footwork and ability to find space to shoot from distance. His swerving shot was parried by Buffon for Klose's goal. However, he did fail to track Vidal for Juventus' second and was sent off for stupidly handling the ball. Alvaro Gonzalez - An anonymous performance from the utility man who performed as a right-wing back late on. Was often found trailing in Pogba or Vidal's wake. Senad Lulic - Was effective at times down the left wing but will be disappointed with the accuracy of his crossing. Did a good job in limiting Lichtsteiner's freedom. Lorik Cana - Was dominant in the air for Lazio at both ends of the pitch but was forced out of position on numerous occasions by the intelligent movement of Tevez. Antonio Candreva - Impressive and determined showing from the former Juventus man, who caused problems with his teasing crosses and long range shooting. Didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Miroslav Klose - Didn't have the greatest service but nonetheless took his chance when it came, showing great anticipation to react quickest to poke Hernanes' spilled shot past Buffon. Substitutions Ederson - Was introduced as a late substitute and showed his willingness to get forward, testing Buffon with several long-range drives. Cristian Ledesma - Came on to shore the midfield up when Lazio were reduced to 10 men. Provided a much-needed energy boost but ultimately could do little to prevent the Biancocelesti's downfall. Sergio Floccari - Came on to give an extra dimension to the attack but due to Hernanes' dismissal, he lacked service and had little influence.

JUVENTUS 4 - 1 LAZIO Arturo Vidal 14′ Arturo Vidal 27′ Miroslav Klose 28′ Mirko Vučinić 49′ Carlos Tévez 78′ August 31, 2013 6:45 PM BST Juventus Stadium — Torino Referee: P. Tagliavento Attendance: 38041 Vidal double seals Juve victory Aug 31, 2013 Arturo Vidal scored twice as Serie A champions Juventus cruised to a 4-1 victory over 10-man Lazio at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday night. Vidal's brace had the home side 2-0 up after 26 minutes, only for Miroslav Klose to halve the deficit two minutes later. http://markting10.nl/ Mirko Vucinic stretched Juve's lead four minutes into the second half, though, before Hernanes was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence just after the hour mark and Carlos Tevez completed the scoring 10 minutes from time. In the other game in the Italian top flight on Saturday, Marek Hamsik bagged a brace as Napoli overcame stubborn Chievo 4-2 to register their second league win from two games. Napoli twice took the lead in the first half through Hamsik and Jose Callejon, but were pegged back by Chievo striker Alberto Paloschi on both occasions. However, they did not look back after Hamsik helped the Partenopei re-take the lead once more and Gonzalo Higuain made sure there was no way back by notching his first goal in Serie A following his big-money summer move from Real Madrid.
