Giuseppe Bellusci - A rock in the visitors' defence, and seemed to be everywhere to cut out through balls and crosses. Read Pirlo's attempted passes with ease. P. Álvarez - Got away with miscommunication when Vucinic hit the post, but a good performance all the same. Sergio Bernardo Almiron - Tracked back well and provided the defence with a good shield. Let Pogba overrun him at times in the second half. Francesco Lodi - Excellent defensive display from the usually attack-minded player. Went close with a curling effort from distance early on. Mariano Julio Izco - Kept Asamoah quiet in the first half but booking picked up later in the game meant he couldn't deal with Giaccherini as effectively. Lucas Castro - Showed willing up front but lack of good delivery meant he was quiet. Tightly marked by Barzagli. Marco Biagianti - Marshalled Pirlo and largely kept the playmaker quiet. Substitution late on had a clear impact. Alejandro Gómez - The most likely of any of the Catania players to score. Tested Buffon in the first half and made useful runs in behind the defence. Juve came up against determined opponents who refused to relinquish an inch of space in defence and their hosts lacked the inspiration to break them down. Mirko Vucinic hit a post in the first period while Claudio Marchisio came close to opening the score but Catania remained resolute and determined. But Juve head coach Antonio Conte's decision to withdraw misfiring strikers Sebastian Giovinco and Mirko Vucinic proved to be inspired as the latter's replacement pounced at the death to give the leaders a huge advantage with only 10 games remaining. Juve won an early corner in their bid to ramp up their pressure on Catania in the opening stages, as Pablo Alvarez closed down an onrushing Claudio Marchisio just yards from goal.
