  1. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco MATCH PREVIEW Jan 12, 2013 Parma put their unbeaten home record on the line when they welcome League leaders and away supremos Juventus to the Stadio Tardini. The Ducali were involved in a nail-biting finale against Palermo last weekend. Chasing a third straight victory, Parma led through Ishak Belfodil’s goal just past the hour. Igor Budan looked to have snatched a point for the visitors with five minutes remaining, but Francesco Benussi’s error gifted Amauri the winner against his former club. That result - coupled with Fiorentina’s shock loss to Pescara - means Roberto Donadoni’s team are the only ones unbeaten at their own stadium. They have won six of nine Tardini tussles and last dropped home points on November 11, in a scoreless draw with Siena. Daniele Galloppa remains sidelined through injury and is joined by suspended defensive duo Yohan Benalouane and Alessandro Lucarelli. Jaime Valdes returns from a one-match ban and Cristian Zaccardo is on the bench after an injury. Juventus saw their eight-point lead reduced after a shock loss to Sampdoria. The hosts took the lead through Sebastian Giovinco’s penalty and seemed in command when Samp went down to 10 men. But they were stunned by two second-half Mauro Icardi strikes. Juve responded with a dramatic 2-1 Coppa Italia success over Milan on Wednesday, which went to extra time. While Parma are strong at home, Juventus are unmatched on the road. The Bianconeri have won seven of nine road trips, benefit from the equal-most prolific attack with 20 goals and boast the meanest defence with just six conceded. Claudio Marchisio was the latest injury casualty, to join Giorgio Chiellini, Simone Pepe and Nicklas Bendtner in the treatment room. Kwadwo Asamoah is away at the Africa Cup of Nations, but Stephan Lichtsteiner returns from suspension. Last season’s goalless draw was the ninth stalemate contested between the pair and doused in controversy. Meanwhile, Parma slightly hold historical dominance with six wins to five. Keep an eye on: Martin Caceres (Juventus) – Dropped in favour of Federico Peluso last weekend, the Uruguayan put in a strong Coppa Italia performance. Caceres will look to cement his spot in the back three during Chiellini’s absence with another impressive showing. Form guide: Parma (L L W W W) Juventus (W W W W L) Last season: Parma 0-0 Juventus Stat fact: Juventus were Parma’s very first Serie A opponent. The Gialloblu’s maiden appearance back in 1990-91 ended in a 2-1 Juve win, including a debut Bianconeri goal for Roberto Baggio. 2. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco We must be at our best against Juventus, says Donadoni The former Italy coach has said that his team will need to be firing on all cylinders if they are to stand a chance against the league leaders on Sunday. Jan 12, 2013 Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has said that his team will need to be at their best if they are to defeat Juventus when the sides meet this weekend. The Serie A leaders will travel to Parma in the league and the Italian feels that, despite Juve’s 2-1 loss to Sampdoria last week, it will not make the challenge of playing Antonio Conte's men any easier. “We have to deal with them no matter what their result was last time,” he told reporters. “It doesn't really matter what happened last Sunday against Sampdoria. We have to be at our best whatever has happened. They are a great side.” The Gialloblu go into the match with Juve on a high following a strong 2-1 home win against Palermo. “It was a very important win for us,” said the 49-year-old. “We played against a team that caused us some difficulty, but we won because we took our chances. “I cannot really define what went so right for us, perhaps we were a bit lucky.” http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/
  3. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Parma - Juventus Preview: Old Lady target three away wins on the bounce The reigning Serie A champions are looking for their third successive league victory on the road when they travel to the Tardini to face a Gialloblu outfit plagued by inconsistency. Jan 12, 2013 PROBABLE LINE-UPS PARMAPavarini Rossi, Paletta, Santacroce, Gobbi Marchionni, Valdes, Parolo Biabiany, Belfodil, Sansone JUVENTUSBuffon Barzagli, Bonucci, Caceres Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, De Ceglie Giovinco, Quagliarella Juventus will be looking for their third successive Serie A victory on the road when they travel to the Ennio Tardini to take on Parma on Sunday. There was some relief for Antonio Conte this past week when it was revealed that Claudio Marchisio's injury wasn't as bad as first feared, but the Italy international will miss his side's trip to Emilia-Romagna. Juve will also be without both Giorgio Chiellini, who is yet to recover from an calf injury, and Kwadwo Asamoah, who is off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana. The Old Lady also look likely to miss Federico Peluso and Mirko Vucinic through injury, while Andrea Barzagli is hoping to be passed fit to play. Roberto Donadoni is yet to pick up a win against Juventus in his coaching career and is facing a defensive crisis of his own. Alessandro Lucarelli and Yohan Benalouane are suspended, while Cristian Zaccardo and Aleandro Rosi look set to miss out through injury. DID YOU KNOW? • Juventus have the best away record in Serie A so far this season, winning seven of their nine fixtures on the road this term. • The Old Lady will be hoping to make it third time lucky on Sunday, having failed to pick up a victory in their last two trips to the Ennio Tardini. • Antonio Conte's men have the best defensive record in Serie A, conceding just 13 goals in their 14 fixtures to date. • Sebastian Giovinco will return to his old club for the first time since sealing his move to Juventus this past summer. • With six wins and three draws, Parma are the last remaining team in Italy's top flight to remain unbeaten at home. • Despite their far superior goal difference, not a single Juventus player has outscored Parma striker Ishak Belfodil, who has notched on six occasions since making the move from Lyon in the summer. • Coach Roberto Donadoni is without a win in five of his last encounters with Juventus. He was an unused substitute when the two sides met on the opening day of the season and will desperate to further his burgeoning reputation against one of the big boys. Sebastian Giovinco Back at the stadium in which he convinced the Juve bosses they had made a mistake by letting him leave the Old Lady nearly two years ago, the pint-sized attacker is in fine form and will be hoping for a happy homecoming. The Italy international will be tasked with finding space between the lines in order to carve out chances for Fabio Quagliarella and could well prove the difference against a depleted Parma back line. Prediction Parma come to the match in fine form, with last week’s victory over Palermo making it three on the bounce for Roberto Donadoni’s men. In contrast, Juventus arrive eager to get back to winning ways after a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Sampdoria last time out. Both sides have injury concerns, but Antonio Conte’s men showed their mettle against Milan in midweek and may just have the edge. Editor's Prediction: Parma 1 - 2 Juventus
  4. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Conte: Napoli should be proud of Marchisio's antipathy The successful coach has downplayed the Italy international's recent comments on the Partenopei, and expects a difficult match versus Parma. Jan 12, 2013 Juventus coach Antonio Conte feels Napoli should be proud that other clubs dislike them as it shows the Partenopei are taken seriously by their rivals. Bianconeri midfielder Claudio Marchisio revealed earlier this week that he feels a certain antipathy toward Napoli, but the 45-year-old has insisted that the Italy international's comments should be taken as a compliment. "Marchisio was obviously referring to the sporting rivalry between Juventus and Napoli. It is only normal to have a certain rivalry between big clubs. They probably feel the same about us," he stated at a press conference. "Napoli should be proud to have our antipathy rather than get upset about it as it means that they have joined the group of big clubs of Juventus, Inter and AC Milan that have certain feelings of rivalry." The Juventus coach then looked ahead to this weekend's Serie A match against Parma, and insisted that the Bianconeri will do their utmost to return to winning ways in the league. "We’re determined to get back on course in the championship following last weekend’s reverse. I’m sure we’ll see a good game, contested by two sides who will both be pushing for the win. "Parma go into the encounter on the back of four straight successes and have yet to lose a game at home. We know it’s a difficult venue to go to and that they will want to put on a good show." Juventus currently sit atop of the Serie A table with 44 points from 19 games. http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/
  5. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Giovinco: Crucial period ahead of Juventus The Italy international has underlined the importance of the upcoming few weeks for the Old Lady, and is eagerly anticipating the match against Parma. Jan 12, 2013 Sebastian Giovinco has stressed that Juventus will have to be on top of their game in the next few weeks in order to remain in the hunt for silverware. The Bianconeri qualified for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia this week, while they are are also still in the race for the Champions League, and sit atop of the Serie A table at the moment. "We’re getting to the most tricky part of the season, with many important games coming thick and fast," he told Mediaset. "This is also a good aspect, as it means we’re still on track in every competition. We hope to keep making progress." The tricky attacker meets former team Parma this weekend, and says he has nothing but good memories from his time at the Ennio Tardini. "I owe Parma a great deal, they believed in me and relaunched my career. I know them well and they have become even more compact and harder to beat under [Roberto] Donadoni. "However, we want to bounce back from the Sampdoria defeat and will do all we can to win." Sunday's encounter is scheduled to kick off at 15:00CET. http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/
  6. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Donadoni: 'Giovinco is complete' Jan 12, 2013 Roberto Donadoni aims to keep his unbeaten home record when Parma welcome Juventus and praised Sebastian Giovinco as “a complete football player.” The Ducali are the only team left in Serie A without a defeat on their own soil this season and hope to maintain that status after Sunday afternoon’s game. “It is a very important game, just as they all are. Playing against Juventus gives you particular motivation and it’ll be exciting to face the best team in the Division,” explained the Coach. “I want to see us match them in terms of intensity and determination. The fact Antonio Conte complimented us on our work at Parma shows just how well we are doing here. “It will take a very special performance to stop Juventus, though. The Bianconeri are coming off a defeat to Sampdoria, but a slip-up can occur through the course of a season. Tomorrow will be a completely different match.” The Tardini tie is special for Giovinco, who was co-owned by Parma and flourished under Donadoni’s guidance before his return to Juventus this summer. “Giovinco is a player who has it all, not just technique. He is proving it with facts, but I had no doubts that he was a complete football player.” Yohan Benalouane and Alessandro Lucarelli sit out bans for tomorrow’s game. http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/
  7. Mazzarri: 'A Marchisio compliment' Jan 12, 2013 Walter Mazzarri agrees with Antonio Conte that being disliked “is a compliment” and warns Napoli not to underestimate Sunday’s opponents Palermo. Claudio Marchisio caused a diplomatic incident this week when he told the Corriere della Sera he had “a particular antipathy” towards the Partenopei. Conte argued in this morning’s Press conference that they ought to be flattered and Mazzarri agreed. “I did not take Marchisio’s comments as offensive. In fact, being disliked in football is a compliment. Conte is right, in this sport we all want to win and the only teams everyone likes are the ones nobody respects. This means Napoli are respected.”
  8. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Conte: 'Napoli proud to be hated' Jan 12, 2013 Antonio Conte admits Parma will be tough for Juventus to crack and insists Claudio Marchisio’s “antipathy” towards Napoli was a compliment. The Bianconeri have had a dramatic week, as they were beaten at home by 10-man Sampdoria, forced to extra time by Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-final and prompted a diplomatic incident when Marchisio declared he felt particular “antipathy” towards the Partenopei. “Marchisio’s words were obviously referring to a sporting rivalry. Napoli ‘dislike’ us every bit as much. It is only normal to have rivalry between big clubs. “Napoli ought to be proud to have our antipathy, because it means they have joined the group of big clubs with strong sporting rivalry like us, Milan and Inter.” Conte turned towards tomorrow afternoon’s trip to the Stadio Tardini, where Parma are unbeaten this season. “It’s a tough game, as they are in great form,” continued the Coach in his Press conference this morning. “They’ve won their last four and have never lost at home. We know this is a difficult arena to play in and they will want to put in a top performance. I am convinced it’ll be a wonderful match, because Parma play open and attacking football. “The 120 minutes against Milan on Wednesday were very intense and we gave everything because we wanted to progress in the Coppa Italia. However, we have trained for this and I’m sure the fatigue will not be felt against Parma tomorrow.” Mirko Vucinic remains in doubt with an ankle problem and Conte confirmed “if he’s not 100 per cent fit then we won’t risk losing him for a long time. “I have valid alternatives. Playing for Juventus has a different psychological weight to representing other clubs. Sebastian Giovinco was under constant pressure, now Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella are the ones being criticised in the media. You go from top player to garbage heap from one day to the next.” Claudio Marchisio is out of action with a heavily bruised knee, so Conte confirmed he has to choose between Emanuele Giaccherini and Paul Pogba. Finally, the newspapers have been full of transfer gossip around Didier Drogba, Lisandro Lopez and others, but the Juventus Coach hinted at Genoa’s Ciro Immobile. “I have great admiration and affection for Immobile, as I watched him grow up at Juve and wanted him with me at Siena. He is a professional with great hunger to make his mark. We are monitoring him carefully.” http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/
  9. Moggi up for election Jan 12, 2013 Disgraced former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi is taking on a new career in politics, as he’ll stand for election in Piedmont. The 75-year-old was considered the key figure in the Calciopoli scandal that saw Juve demoted to Serie B and stripped of two Scudetto titles in 2006. He has received a lifetime ban from working in football, while he was also sentenced to five years and four months in prison during the Calciopoli civil trial, although that is pending an appeal. Moggi announced he is to stand with the Riformisti Italiani party, which is connected to Milan President Silvio Berlusconi’s PdL party, in Juve’s home region of Piedmont. “We see Moggi’s candidacy as the symbol of a political battle against the circus of media and judges who ruin lives and careers in Italy,” said the party spokesman Andrea Spiri. Since 2006, Moggi has forged a career as a football pundit in newspapers, radio and internet sites.
  10. Conte: Napoli should be proud of Marchisio's antipathy The successful coach has downplayed the Italy international's recent comments on the Partenopei. "Napoli should be proud to have our antipathy rather than get upset about it as it means that they have joined the group of big clubs of Juventus, Inter and AC Milan that have certain feelings of rivalry."
  11. Barzagli: Juventus have not won anything yet The experienced centre-back has warned his team-mates not to become complacent, while praising his side's defensive strength this season. Jan 12, 2013 Andrea Barzagli has warned that the season is still long for Juventus and has stressed that they cannot afford to lose focus. The Bianconeri qualified for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia by beating AC Milan earlier this week, sit atop of the Serie A table, and have also reached the knock-out stages of the Champions League. "We’re at the top of the league, but there’s still the entire second half of the season ahead of us and we need to go back to expressing our usual rhythm," he told Sky Sport Italia. "The same goes for the Coppa Italia and Champions League: we must face every game with great attention, but this, after all, is our mentality." The centre-back then went on to voice his opinion that Juventus' defence is among Europe's best. "Last year we were the championship’s strongest defence and we’re showing that again," he continued. "In Europe there are perhaps defenders who, individually speaking, are better than us, but I think that on an organisational level there are few teams up to our standard." The Turin giants have conceded 13 goals in Serie A this term.
  12. Serie A Week 20 - 13/1/13 (3:00 p.m.) - Ennio Tardini Stadium - Parma Referee: Andrea De Marco Giovinco faces Parma past Jan 11, 2013 Sebastian Giovinco is expecting a tough challenge when Juventus take on former club Parma this weekend. The Old Lady will be looking to get back to winning ways after their surprise loss to Sampdoria, but the Gialloblu are unbeaten at home in Serie A this term. “I owe Parma a lot as they re-launched me,” Giovinco, who spent two seasons at Parma before his summer return to Juve, told Sport Mediaset. “With Coach Roberto Donadoni, they have become an even more compact side, one which is difficult to beat. “We, however, have to hit back after our defeat to Sampdoria. We know that it won’t be easy, but we’ll do everything we can to win.” The Turin giants will face a complex month ahead given that they are still in the Scudetto race, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. “We will face nine games in 35 days. The most delicate stage of the season is on its way, with a lot of important matches that are close together. “This, however, is a good thing as it means we are in the running for all the trophies.” The 26-year-old is Juventus’ top scorer this season, thanks to his 10 goals in all competitions. “I feel important rather than fundamental,” he added. “We are a squad and all of us are important, we’ll need every one from now until the end of the season.” The Italian international was also asked about the possible January arrival of Didier Drogba. “He would be good for us. The more of us in attack, the better.” http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/20122013/regular-season/

SUBITO SPETTACOLO: 1-1 ALL’INTERVALLO - È subito partita vera in uno Juventus Stadium stracolmo. Mattia Fontana.
  15. 17. Marchisio apology from fake account Jan 11, 2013 Juventus have confirmed that the comments attributed to Claudio Marchisio in his Instagram account are fake. The Bianconeri midfielder was reported to have claimed that he 'meant to offence' following remarks to Corriere della Sera regarding his 'antipathy' towards Napoli on Thursday. But the club have since admitted that the Instagram page in which the apology was made is in fact not the player's official account.
  18. Marchisio 'meant no offence' Jan 11, 2013 Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has admitted that he did not intend to offend any Napoli fans following his comments yesterday. The 26-year-old was accused by the Partenopei of a 'grave offence' on Thursday after he told Corriere della Sera that he conceded that he has an 'antipathy towards Napoli'. But the Italy international has today claimed that his words were said with no malice. “Napoli are a tough opponent,” he posted on his Instagram account. “They are a team that can compete with us. “And I defined just that. I did not want to offend any citizens of Naples.”
  19. Juventus back Marchisio in Napoli row The Old Lady have suggested the Italy midfielder's comments were not malicious and added that those who did not understand this were only trying to stir up trouble. Jan 10, 2013 Juventus have issued an official statement backing their midfielder Claudio Marchisio after the 26-year-old was caught up in a heated debate with title challengers Napoli. The Italy international had revealed that he could not stand the Partenopei which has fuelled the already fierce rivalry between two sides with Napoli claiming the comments were hugely insulting. However, although the Bianconeri distanced themselves from the comments, they have stood by their player claiming nothing malicious was meant by the remarks and those who saw it differently were causing "unnecessary controversy." “Claudio Marchisio expressed a personal opinion during an interview with Corriere della Sera's monthly magazine Style," read Juventus' official website. “His view was clearly a reference to the healthy rivalry between Napoli and Juventus that has led to some thrilling and hard-fought matches. “No offence was intended: those who fail to understand that are simply seeking unnecessary controversy.” Juventus lead Serie A by five points and are seven points ahead of third-placed Napoli.
  20. Juve: 'Napoli create controversy' Jan 10, 2013 Juventus hit back at Napoli for “trying to create controversy out of nothing” with their reaction to Claudio Marchisio’s comments. The midfielder told the Corriere della Sera that he felt “antipathy” towards Napoli and was particularly fired up when playing against them. The Southern club responded with a statement criticising his “grave insult to Napoli and to Italian football,” demanding clarification. That arrived this evening with a statement on the official Juventus website. “Claudio Marchisio expressed an opinion during an interview with the Style section of the Corriere della Sera. “This opinion was clearly referring to the healthy sense of competition that has seen Napoli and Juventus take part in fiery and spectacular matches. “There was no offence: failing to comprehend that means trying to create controversy out of nothing.”
  21. Napoli: 'Marchisio's grave insult' Jan 10, 2013 Napoli have released a statement slamming Claudio Marchisio for his “grave insult” towards the club and demanded clarification from Juventus. Marchisio hit the headlines when telling the Corriere della Sera that he had “antipathy” towards Napoli. “When I am faced with them, something goes off in me.” Now the San Paolo club has responded with an official statement. “Marchisio’s comments represent a grave insult towards Napoli and all of Italian football. We are surprised that a player of his stature and who plays in such a prestigious club would say things like that. “We hope it is only a misunderstanding and await clarification from the player and from Juventus.” The rapport between the clubs hit a new low after the Italian Super Cup in Beijing this August. Napoli saw two players sent off and lost the trophy in extra time, so boycotted the presentation ceremony in protest.
  22. Marchisio: When I play Napoli, something in me goes off The Bianconeri midfielder has created a media storm after saying in an interview he holds a grudge against the Serie A contenders from the south but the Partenopei have responded. Jan 10, 2013 Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has revealed his contempt for Serie A rivals Napoli with the Neapolitan club demanding an explanation for his "grave insult". In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, the Italy international was asked if there was any one player that he held particular antipathy towards and he responded by saying Napoli. “It’s not any particular face, but a team, especially after the rough Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup finals: Napoli," Marchisio was quoted as saying in La Repubblica. “When I am faced with Napoli, something goes off in me.” Unsurprisingly, his comments have not been well received in the Southern Italian city and Napoli have already issued a public statement in response, asking for an explanation from the midfielder and his club. “Marchisio’s comments represent a grave insult towards Napoli and all of Italian football. We are surprised that a player of his stature and who plays in such a prestigious club would say things like that," read the club's official website. “We hope it is only a misunderstanding and await clarification from the player and from Juventus.” Relations between the two Italian giants have traditionally been sour but were only intensified in the Italian Super Cup played in Beijing earlier this season, when the Partenopei boycotted the post-match presentation ceremony in protest to refereeing decisions made during the final.

Jan 10, 2013 Mirko Vucinic has hailed the positive attitude of the Juventus squad as he feels every player puts the team's interests ahead of personal glory. The Montenegro international netted the winner in the Old Lady's 2-1 Coppa Italia quarter-final win over AC Milan on Wednesday, but he insisted that it is not about personal success for anybody at Juve. "There aren’t any prima donnas at Juventus. Everyone here gives their all from the first minute until the last and helps out their team-mates," Vucinic was quoted as saying on the official Juventus website. "It’s our spirit that makes this team unique." The attacker then went on to discuss his fitness and made it clear that he is on his way back. "I’m still not at the top of my game, but my condition is improving, even if I’m still yet to get a full 90 minutes under my belt. "I’d like to thank the club’s medical staff who are handling my recovery well." Vucinic has netted seven goals in 23 official appearances for Juventus this term.
  24. Coppa Italia - Last of 8 - 9-1-2013 (8:45 p.m.) 2 - 1 Stephan El Shaarawy (6′) Sebastian Giovinco (13′) Mirko Vučinić (96′) Juventus Stadium - Torino Referee: Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni El Shaarawy: AC Milan were unlucky against Juventus The young attacker has voiced his disappointment with the San Siro side's defeat, and has urged his team-mates to turn their focus to Serie A again. Jan 10, 2013 Stephan El Shaarawy believes that AC Milan were unlucky to lose Wednesday's Coppa Italia quarter-final away against Juventus as he feels they put in a good performance. The young attacker gifted the Rossoneri an early lead, but Sebastian Giovinco levelled the scoring shortly after, before Mirko Vucinic netted in extra time to make it 2-1. "I’m happy with my goal and our performance. We played a good game and created a lot of chances. Their second goal came from a bit of unlucky deflection for us," El Shaarawy was quoted as saying on the Milan website. "It’s a disappointing loss. We held our own well and defended well. We didn’t concede any really big chances, but they did well technically especially when Vucinic came on and then scored. "Now we have to get back to work on Sunday, which is a fundamental game for the league to stay in the race for the top spots in the table."
  25. Marchisio: 'I can't stand Napoli!' Jan 10, 2013 Juventus star Claudio Marchisio is fighting off a hail of insults after declaring he has particular “antipathy towards Napoli.” The midfielder made the comment during an interview with the Corriere della Sera, in which he was asked if there were any players who stirred up a healthy dose of antipathy in him. “It’s not any particular face, but a team, especially after the rough Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup Finals: Napoli. “When I am faced with Napoli, something goes off in me.” The Napoli fans certainly went off at Marchisio, as his Facebook page has been inundated with insults after this statement.
