Chiellini reveals what the key to Juventus success could be this season Former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is optimistic about the potential of a successful on-field partnership between Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic. These two players serve as the goal-scorers in Max Allegri’s 3-5-2 formation, and they have been showing promising chemistry on the field in the early part of this season. ........ The fans are dreaming of Juventus reclaiming the Serie A title, and if Chiesa and Vlahovic can continue to build on their on-field understanding, it could lead to something special for the Bianconeri in the current campaign. Chiellini still follows them even though he now plays in another continent and says: “Milan has three champions like Maignan, Theo and Leao, but also enormous potential in the rest of the squad, while Juve has a young team. The others have something more, but if Vlahovic and Chiesa start to work well together, they can still aspire to something important .” ....... Pundit urges Juventus to focus on winning Serie A Juventus fans have endured a period of two seasons without significant success in any competition, and the pressure is mounting on the current team to deliver silverware at the end of this campaign. The expectations from fans are high, and they may find it difficult to forgive the team if they fail to secure a trophy. ........ Pundit Manuel Gerolin has emphasised the importance of putting the primary focus on winning the Italian top flight. Securing the Serie A title should be viewed as a top priority, given the competitive nature of the league and the desire to end the trophy drought. “It will be a good championship until the end. There are still many matches to go but the two Milanese teams are the most accredited together with Napoli. And Juve only has to think about the championship, in the long run it can be an advantage. And watch out for Atalanta.” ....... Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/pundit-urges-juventus-to-focus-on-winning-serie-a/

Luca Toni defends Juventus striker Vlahovic from critics Former Italy striker Luka Toni has come to the defence of Dusan Vlahovic amid criticism of the Serbian striker’s performance as he continues to adapt to his new club. Despite making a strong start to the season, some individuals still believe that Vlahovic can perform even better. There are also expectations for him to meet the high standards set for him following his high-profile move from Fiorentina to Juventus. ....... “Vlahovic is a strong striker. Period and that’s it. There’s no discussion. Last year, it wasn’t so much Allegri who didn’t understand it. The problem was that he wasn’t well physically. This year, he’s already started off strong. He’s a penalty area player, a player that I like a lot. But it’s clear that he needs to be served properly in the penalty area. Now his luck, Allegri’s goal is to have the Chiesa again.” ...... Juventus gets a boost as Milik returns to training but Vlahovic still a doubt Juventus has received a positive update on the fitness front ahead of their upcoming weekend game against Torino. Arkadiusz Milik has returned to training during the team’s latest session, providing a boost to their preparations for the derby match. While the Bianconeri have been concerned about the fitness of several players, including Milik and Dusan Vlahovic, the latest information indicates that the Polish striker was able to participate in the training session. However, Vlahovic was not part of the group training and instead worked on his own, suggesting that he may still require more time to regain full fitness. ........ Report argues Allegri will leave Juventus at the end of the season: The three clues Since his return to the club in 2021, Max Allegri hasn’t been able to recapture the magic of his vastly successful first stint in Turin. ........ But although his deal runs until the summer of 2025, ilBianconero tips Allegri to cut his time short and leave Juventus at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. The report backs its claim by citing three clues. First, the source argues that the manager is unlikely to enter into his final contractual year without at least having a verbal promise of a renewal. Until now, the management is yet to offer any guarantees on this regard, leaving the coach’s long-term future up in the air. The second clue, as the source explains, comes from Allegri’s statements, currently referring to Juventus in third person rather than the term “we”. This detail might suggest that the coach is distancing himself from the club and its hierarchy. Finally, several persons close to Allegri have been talking about a “decisive season” for the coach. This implies that those around him know that this could well be his final year at the helm. Adani lashes out on Allegri: “Juventus a provincial club, Gianni Agnelli would have never allowed it” Following the hollow performance in Bergamo, Juventus coach Max Allegri seemed satisfied with the point earned from the goalless draw against Atalanta. Unsurprisingly, his comments added insult to injury, further enraging a large section of the fanbase who were already irked by the team’s display. For his part, Daniele Adani has been chastising the Juventus manager almost since his return to the club in 2021. ........ “Juventus has become small, dear Juve fans. At the moment you are rooting for a small team, but it’s not due to the value of the players,” ...... “In my opinion, Allegri is the one who is least to blame, he understood everything. “Massimiliano Allegri is the most perfectly positioned person in this country. Because last year, he got everything by offering nothing and now he does even less. He’s getting everything without making any effort. “Why are you [Juve fans] allowing yourselves to be taken as fools? Allegri makes you believe that Juve in Bergamo must stay the entire match in their own half and you believe it. “Juventus now look like a provincial team. Some people have been telling you this for four years, but you attack them when you win 1-0. ....... “I have in front of me the effigy of the L’Avvocato Gianni Agnelli who appears in front of me and says: ‘Please, tell the truth, do something for this country, say something.’ “Agnelli would never have allowed a draw in Bergamo to be passed off as a good result by choice.” Adani also urged new Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli to start acting. “I would say to Giuntoli: ‘You have been given a five-year mandate, so when does it start?!’ “The draw in Bergamo being considered a good result is one of the greatest embarrassments in Juventus history.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/adani-lashes-out-on-allegri-juventus-a-provincial-club-gianni-agnelli-wouldnt-have-never-allowed-it/

Journalist says Allegri is holding Juventus back Juventus has traditionally been known for its pragmatic style of play, often prioritising results over flashy football. The club’s focus on winning matches and achieving results has been a key factor in their success over the years. However, since Max Allegri’s return to the club, there has been a noticeable shift in their performance, and Juventus has struggled to win trophies consistently. During Allegri’s first spell in Turin, the team enjoyed tremendous success, winning the league title in every campaign under his leadership, accumulating five league titles in total. ........ Journalist Luca Calamai said this: “I wonder how much Allegri is worth in this Juventus team? He can win the Scudetto if he goes back to being the creative, proactive player he was in his first Juventus experience. I see Allegri as very managing, conservative, I don’t see his hand in this team, which in any case is in full Scudetto fight. The leap in quality cannot come from Vlahovic, from Chiesa but from the coach.” ....... Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/journalist-says-allegri-is-holding-juventus-back/

Updates on Vlahovic and Milik conditions ahead of Torino Derby Last weekend, Arkadiusz Milik and Dusan Vlahovic were both out of the Juventus squad that traveled to Bergamo. Therefore, Max Allegri had to rely on a slightly tired Federico Chiesa alongside Moise Kean in attack. The duo fired blank in a forgettable encounter that ended as a goalless draw. Therefore, the Bianconeri will be hoping to recover their attacking duo ahead of Saturday’s Derby della Mole clash against Torino. ....... The Polish striker returned to training on Monday while the rest of the squad was given a day off. The 29-year-old looks determined to overcome this physical hurdle and make himself available on the weekend. As for the Serbian, the club remains cautiously optimistic regarding his recovery. In order to join his teammates for the upcoming showdown, he must return to training with the group by Thursday at most. As the report explains, the 23-year-old has been dealing with back pain for a week. ....... Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/updates-on-vlahovic-and-milik-conditions-ahead-to-torino-derby/

Juventus fans slam Allegri for his post-match comments Max Allegri has faced criticism from Juventus supporters for his response to the team’s draw against Atalanta over the weekend. Despite having lost only one game this season, Juventus faced a challenging match in Bergamo, a fixture that was perceived as potentially tricky, similar to their previous loss to Sassuolo. Allegri’s team aimed to avoid defeats at this stage of the season, but their performance in the goalless draw against Atalanta wasn’t particularly outstanding. Despite this, Allegri expressed satisfaction with the result. However Juventus fans were surprised that their manager would feel proud of a goalless draw against Atalanta, and some have expressed disappointment in how the team’s standards seem to have declined under his management. There were even calls for Allegri to leave the club immediately due to his acceptance of such a result. ....... “A good point” – Allegri satisfied with Atalanta draw, provides update on Bremer On Sunday, Juventus settled for a draw against Atalanta in what was an underwhelming encounter in Bergamo. The Bianconeri were hardly able to threaten Juan Musso’s goal throughout the match. The hosts had the more dangerous opportunities, especially towards the end of the second half, but the Old Lady was able to escape unscathed. After the final whistle, Juventus coach Max Allegri seemed content with his away point which was just enough to keep his team in the Top Four positions. “We took a risk, in the end gaining a good point which allows us to remain in the top positions,” ....... “In the first half, we could have been more clinical and calm with the ball at our feet. The boys played a good game, but we weren’t too convincing when it came to scoring goals. ....... “We didn’t lose and the point is important to stay close to the leading pack. Now we have a week to prepare for the Derby. “Torino aren’t playing in European cups either, so we’ll both have a week to prepare for the match. In the league, they always say who is favorite or not, cups or no cups, we have to stick to the Top Four places, to also grow in self-esteem”. ...... “As for Bremer, it was just cramps, nothing major.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/a-good-point-allegri-satisfied-with-atalanta-draw-provides-update-on-bremer/

Flat Juventus earn lucky point in scoreless draw vs. Atalanta Max Allegri’s side were lucky to escape Bergamo with a point. Juventus and Atalanta played to a goalless draw on Sunday in what is a “choose your own adventure” story vis-a-vis Max Allegri’s approach to the game. Adventure 1: Minus his top two strikers, the coach employed a pragmatic and conservative — albeit insipid — game plan that earned the Old Lady a point away from home against a decidedly top-seven Serie A opponent. Or, if you like, Adventure 2: Fearing the vulnerability that truly going for a win would endow on his team, the coach essentially bowed to cowardice against a good team that Juventus should still aim — every time, home or away — to defeat. Juventus offered essentially nothing offensively for the first third of this game. In the opening minutes in a buzzing atmosphere, Juventus sat back in an organized block as if they were guarding a 1-0 lead with a 3-0 lead on aggregate in the second fixture of a Champions League tie. There was no desire to play forward or attack meaningfully; it just clearly wasn’t part of the plan. The press that has been a feature of some of the team’s early games was clearly not in the plans against Atalanta. Atalanta, frankly, were unlucky not to score against this allegedly stout defense, as Davide Zappacosta flubbed not one but two opportunities. ....... After conceding possession almost entirely for the opening phase of the game, Juventus balanced the scales the rest of the way and produced another shot on goal a few minutes later when Federico Chiesa and Moise Kean played a little two-man game. Freddy dropped back to receive the ball, turn, and then find Kean who held the ball up well and then split two defenders. Chiesa wanted the ball played back to him, but Kean lined up for a shot on goal without too much sting. Several minutes into the second half Chiesa had probably Juventus’ best chance on the day after a long ball from Danilo ricocheted off a couple Atalanta players fortuitously to Chiesa, but the left-footed effort was beamed directly at Musso. The longer the game went on, the more you felt like both sides were going to be happy with a draw. Wojciech Szczęsny managed to make sure that remained the case when he produced an absolutely world-class save on a Luis Muriel free kick around the 73rd minute ........ LE PAGELLE Wojciech Szczęsny — 7.5. Juve’s Polish keeper completed 11 of 15 long balls and single-handedly earned the Bianconeri a point with his world-class save on the Muriel free kick. Both of those reasons are why he stays between the sticks, as solid as Mattia Perin is. Federico Gatti — 6. ........ Danilo — 7. ........ Bremer — 7. Let’s hope that the early exit was indeed merely cramps, because Juventus can’t afford to lose him for any meaningful amount of time. Like Danilo, he’s reaching an impressive level of consistency. The two Brazilians not only pair well together, but help make up for some of Gatti’s greenness. I hope he wears the shirt for a very long time. Andrea Cambiaso — 5.5. We’ve not seen the youngster play terribly well since his first game in the shirt. ......... Adrien Rabiot — 6. ........ Manuel Locatelli — 6.5. Juventus’ best midfielder on the day. Locatelli completed 8 of 10 long balls against Atalanta. Nicolò Fagioli — 5.5. ........ Weston McKennie — 6. A hard-working performance with nothing particularly flashy to show for it ........ Federico Chiesa — 6.5. Freddy Church did about all he could but was not in a great position to make things happen. He did manage one threatening shot but the ball banged right off the Atalanta goalkeepers gloves. Moise Kean — 5.5. Tough day for Kean in his first start of the season. Only 28 touches in 74 minutes, and only one shot during that span which was an easy save from the keeper. Showed a couple glimpses of dribbling and hold-up, but for the most part a non-factor like the rest of the Juventus attack. SUBS Fabio Miretti — 5.5. ....... Kenan Yıldız — 5.5. Tried to buzz around and make a nuisance of himself and be available for movements forward, but hardly was able to get involved with only eight touches in 20 minutes of playing time. If the top strikers are out for an extended period of time, the young Turk will need to show more palpably what all the optimism is about. Filip Kostić — 5.5. ........ Timothy Weah — NR. Still waiting for Weah to break out more. He’s got the speed, and as we saw on his recent international duty he can score goals. He just needs the right moment at Juventus. Daniele Rugani — NR. ....... MANAGER ANALYSIS How you view Allegri’s approach to this game from the get-go is going to be how you evaluate the outcome. As much as I want to say, “This is Juventus; we should face any team on the planet looking for a victory,” I’m not sure reality squares with the mentality. That said, I don’t look at this Atalanta side and see anything that should’ve caused such a trepidatious angle. Juventus should’ve been looking for the win, and it’s disappointing to have walked into the fixture in that posture. Allegri’s game plan worked to (literally) a point, but he’s damn lucky it did. The only consistency achieved so far this campaign has been inconsistency; without European competition, this needs to change sooner rather than later. It feels like there’s still very little identity, and perhaps even less intensity, to this team. ........ Juventus 0 - Atalanta 0: Initial reaction and random observations Not sure it could have been better. But it definitely could have been a lot worse. As the time ticked away and got closer and closer to the final whistle Sunday evening, it was pretty clear what Juventus’ main objective was — make sure you leave Bergamo without any major damage done. That is, don’t let an Atalanta team that was pushing late for all three points do as they so desired. It was not as routine as Max Allegri so desired. And if not for some Wojciech Szczesny brilliance, then a little bit of luck after some Szczesny nerviness, this wouldn’t have been the “head home with a point” kind of feeling like Max wanted it to be. ......... Atalanta dominated early. They pinned Juve back late. Juventus managed just one shot — ONE! ONE SINGLE SHOT! — the entire second half. That tells you all you need to know about how things were going when Juve went forward at the beginning of the second half and how it was more of a deal to simply hang onto the scoreless draw as time went on. Juve were outshot 15-5 on the night. Those five shots, as you can probably guess, were a season low for a Juve side that has now scored just one goal in its last two games since the 4-2 loss to Sassuolo. On the whole, I guess the one point is better than the alternative. Winning in Bergamo has become a tough task as Atalanta has become more and more of a true rival for a spot in the top four. And considering that Juventus were without Dusan Vlahovic and his direct replacement, Arek MIlik, seeing them struggle with no true reference point up top was not really all that surprising. But at the same time, you just wish you could see more. Passes are still a total mixed bag when this team tries to push forward no matter if it’s out of the back or from the under-fire midfielders. The build-up continues to be slow when they do have extended periods of possession — so much so that the cameras are still cutting to Allegri on the sidelines screaming at his team to move the ball quicker. There were times where Federico Chiesa felt like a one-man band up front and the lone outlet to either create a scoring chance or be the one who does the goal scoring. (Remember, Chiesa was the one who had that lone shot in the second half that stung Juan Musso’s gloves after an Atalanta turnover at the back.) ........ I guess one point is better than none. But this was a winnable game even with the names who were missing — and Juventus just couldn’t muster much of anything to get it done. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS It took nearly 30 minutes for Juventus to even attempt their first shot. It’s a good thing Davide Zappacosta can’t finish worth a lick or else this would have been an uphill battle for 75 or so minutes. There was one point midway through the first half that Atalanta held over 70 percent of the possession. At halftime, Juventus had a 53-47 edge. The thing is, though, so much of it was just sterile possession and not passes that tried to break down Atalanta’s defense. Lots of passing from one side or the other at the back, with Danilo and Bremer combining for over 90 touches in the first half. Juventus had two key passes in the first half, according to SofaScore. Federico Chiesa had one of them. The other? Wojciech Szczesny. Adrien Rabiot picked up a yellow card right before halftime. That was Juve’s league-leading 18th yellow card this season. Considering it’s the first day of October, I’d say that’s not great. Danilo went on to be booked as well, pushing that league-high total to 19. ....... I love Nicolo Fagioli. I really do! But he had so many misplaced passes or turnovers in the first half that I was kinda surprised that he wasn’t yanked for Fabio Miretti sooner. Maybe Allegri decided he’d give him a little bit of run in the second half to see if he could snap out of it ........ This team looks tired. Hopefully the full week between the trip to Bergamo and the Turin derby ends up helping out because I’m guessing a so-so performance against Torino isn’t exactly going to sit well with a lot of folks. Atalanta and Juventus fire blank in cautious encounter At the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Atalanta and Juventus settled for a draw following a cagey stalemate. Max Allegri started with his usual 3-5-2 formation. With Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz both out with injuries, Moise Kean led the line alongside Federico Chiesa. Weston McKennie and Andrea Cambiaso maintained their spots on the flanks, with Nicolo Fagioli joining Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot in the middle of the park. Federico Gatti returned to the starting formation, supporting Danilo and Gleison Bremer at the back. Unfortunately for the neutrals, the first half turned out to be a tepid affair. Davide Zappacosta had the best chance of the first 45 minutes but failed to make the Bianconeri defenders pay for their defensive complacency on back-to-back shots. ....... After the interval, Juventus had their best chance of the match when Chiesa tried to rocket his shot past Musso, but the Argentine was equal to it. Afterwards, it was all Atalanta as the Bianconeri crawled back to their area of the field. Luis Muriel came off the bench and almost scored from a fabulous freekick, but Wojciech Szczesny delivered a spectacular save, sending the ball towards the woodwork with his fingertip. ....... But at the final whistle, it felt as if both sides were happy to share the spoils, regardless of what the fans thought of this uninspiring encounter. Final Score: 0-0 Juventus XI (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer (Rugani), Danilo; McKennie (Weah), Fagioli (Miretti), Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso (Kostic); Chiesa, Kean (Yildiz) Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/atalanta-and-juventus-fire-blank-in-cautious-encounter/

Allegri: ‘Vlahovic and Milik out against Atalanta’ Max Allegri confirms both Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik are out of the Juventus squad for their head-to-head with Atalanta. ‘We have to see these situations as motivation.’ It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT). “Usually the games against Atalanta are hard-fought, they are in a good period of form, did not concede at home, so we must play with great focus and try to keep a good tempo,” Allegri said in his press conference. “We already had a head-to-head with Lazio and tomorrow Atalanta are a physical, aggressive team and we must make sure that we are ready. It’s not like the campaign ends tomorrow.” ...... “There’s no point looking at the table at this moment, even if staying in the top four would help boost our self-esteem. The team is growing physically too, Adrien Rabiot and Timothy Weah are stepping up a gear. ..... “Vlahovic has the usual back issue that kept him out for a few days last week, he had a lot of pain, so it’s best to let him rest and make the full recovery. “Moise Kean returns, but Milik is out, as he had a few issues with his calf and it is again best not to risk it. We will have Mancini with us, a lad from the Next Gen team. “Kean will start tomorrow, in midfield there will be one between Fabio Miretti and Nicoló Fagioli, I will decide tomorrow.” ....... Wojciech Szczesny will keep his place in goal, supported by a probable defensive trio consisting of Gleison Bremer, Danilo and the return of Federico Gatti. Weston McKennie will likely assume his position on the right flank, while Filip Kostic is expected to be on the left replacing Andrea Cambiaso. In central midfield, Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot will be paired, with possibly Nicolo Fagioli positioned ahead of them. ....... Atalanta vs Juventus Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News & Key Stats Juventus and Atalanta will lock horns in a pivotal clash at the top end of the table, with both sides aiming to keep the pressure on the Milan clubs. Gian Piero Gasperini will want his side to show consistency ahead of a tricky run of games. Despite Atalanta occupying the fourth spot on the table, the Bergamo side have not showcased the certain form that makes them title contenders or even top-four challengers, for that matter, ahead of a critical game against Juventus. ........ Massimiliano Allegri, on the other hand, will have been left scratching his head at the outcome of last weekend’s clash against Sassuolo. A bizarre own goal late in the game all but ended Juventus’s hopes of securing a draw that resulted in their first loss of this season. Juventus did respond with a narrow 1-0 win over ten-man Lecce in midweek, which took them closer to the Milan clubs. Currently, the Bianconeri sit in third and two points behind the top two, meaning a positive result over Atalanta could bring them closer to the summit. Incidentally, a win over Atalanta and losses for the Milan clubs could result in Juventus finishing the weekend with a one-point lead at the summit. However, the form of those two sides would ensure at least one of them gets a positive result, and as things stand, Juventus will likely remain where they are in the standings right now. Team News & Tactics Atalanta For Gian Piero Gasperini, there are not too many problems with the squad. The only two players missing are summer signings El Bilal Toure and Gianluca Scamacca, and nothing has come out of the ordinary in the last few games. ...... Probable Lineup (3-4-1-2): Musso; Toloi, Scalvini, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Lookman, Koopmeiners; De Ketelaere Juventus Massimiliano Allegri, too, does not have any fresh concerns with his squad, with Alex Sandro, Mattia De Sciglio, and Paul Pogba the current absentees. The only other doubt is with main striker Dusan Vlahovic, who continued to train separately but is expected to recover from a back problem in time for this game. ...... Probable Lineup (3-5-2): Szczesny; Rugani, Bremer, Danilo; McKennie, Fagioli, Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso; Vlahovic, Chiesa Key Stats Atalanta have won all their matches at home in Serie A this season. Atalanta have only one victory in their last ten games against Juventus at home. Atalanta have won four of their six Serie A games this season. Juventus are undefeated in 35 of their last 38 matches against Atalanta in all competitions. Juventus have only one loss in their Serie A campaign this term.
