Juve eye Tevez renewal

Sep 29, 2014

Juventus are apparently planning to put in front of Carlos Tevez a proposed new contract at the club until June 2018.

The Argentine has begun the season in inspired form and has six goals already to his name from five appearances between Serie A and Europe.

Tuttosport today are running the line that director general Beppe Marotta is intent on handing the 30-year-old a new contract through to June 2018.

However, the Turin publication also assert that Tevez’s intentions may still be to return to Boca Juniors by the end of his career and that he may not be willing to commit to Juve beyond his current deal’s expiry of June 2016.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport also hint at continued interest behind the scenes from Paris Saint-Germain in the former Manchester City striker.

Martino: 'Tevez for Argentina'

Oct 5, 2014

Argentina Coach Gerardo Martino said he “will probably call” Carlos Tevez if he continues his Juventus form.

The striker hasn’t played for his country since the 2011 Copa America, but the new boss put in charge after the World Cup in Brazil is open to a recall.

“Tevez’s absence draws attention today as it has done for two or three years,” Martino told reporters ahead of a match against Brazil.

“I wanted to see other players right now, but if he continues at this level then I will probably call him.”

Tevez has scored six goals in six games this season for Juve between Serie A and the Champions League.

His record with Argentina is of 13 goals in 62 senior caps, having made his debut in March 2004.

Previous manager Alejandro Sabella resisted pressure to bring Tevez back amid rumours the Juve forward did not get along with Leo Messi.

Martino: Tevez a matter of time

Oct 6, 2014

Tata Martino has reiterated that calling up Juventus forward Carlos Tevez to the Argentina national squad is ‘only a matter of time’.

Martino did hint at including the 30-year-old in his most recent squad for this October’s internationals, but ultimately left him out, to continue the striker’s three-year absence from the international scene.

However, on from commenting that he will ‘probably’ call up Tevez soon, the former Barcelona Coach has reiterated it is his intention.

“His call is only a matter of time,” Martino is quoted by the Corriere dello Sport today.

“It may be the next one or the one in March.

“The doors are always open to all players, if they deserve it, but I will decide when it will happen, but because the papers have asked for it.

“Tevez, Icardi, Aguero and Higuain are four No 9s and they certainly cannot all be together in one match.”

Tevez eyes Juve stay

Oct 6, 2014

Carlos Tevez looks set to extend his stay in Italy with Juventus after his agent admitted the striker will soon hold talks with the Italian giants to discuss a new contract.

The former Argentina international has shone during his time in Serie A, scoring an incredible 31 league goals in his first season at Juve, before opening this new campaign with six goals in his first five appearances of the year. With a number of clubs rumoured to be keen on signing the 30-year-old, it looks as though Juve will look to tie Tevez down to a new deal in order to cool that interest.

Tevez had been linked with a move away from Juve in the summer after reports that Roberto Mancini was in line to replace Antonio Conte as manager. Tevez and Mancini had gone through a public falling-out during their time in Manchester and the suggestion Mancini could be on his way to Juve had led some Blue Square fans to believe Tevez would be on his way in the summer. The arrival of Massimiliano Allegri put an end to those rumours, however, and Tevez’s agent Kia Joorabchian has now come out to reveal the striker is happy and plans to stay at the club he joined from Manchester City last year.

"Carlos is really, really happy. We are calm, the situation is relaxed. Carlos still has a year-and-a-half of his deal. We will have talks. Carlos loves the club and here is the time to talk with (Giuseppe) Marotta (Juventus CEO)."

After playing an instrumental role as Juve cruised to their third straight league title, Tevez will be looking to repeat his achievements and help La Vecchia Signora to their 31st league Serie A title and further cement themselves as Italy’s undisputed dominant force.

Argentina will 'certainly call Tevez'

Oct 13, 2014

Argentina Coach Gerardo Martino revealed Juventus striker Carlos Tevez “will certainly be called up soon.”

He had been frozen out of the international scene by previous tactician Alejandro Sabella, but the new boss has other ideas.

“Tevez is doing very well,” Martino told Tyc in Argentina.

“He is one of the many players we are tracking. He will certainly be called up soon.”

Tevez has scored eight goals in seven games for Juve this season between Serie A and Champions League.

Boca President eyes Tevez, but…

Oct 16, 2014

Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici claims Carlos Tevez could return to the club as soon as next year.

The Argentinean striker began his career with Boca and has more than once offered comments like this one in 2012: “My biggest wish is to finish my career in the Boca shirt.”

Boca President Angelici, though, is targeting a quicker return to La Bombonera than most would have anticipated.

“Let’s see if Tevez will come back next year,” Angelici has told ESPN this week.

“We’ll talk with him, and try to find out if it would be a good time [for him to come back].”

However, the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport has poured cold water on Angelici’s claims.

According to the Milan-based sports daily, not only does Tevez have a contract until 2016, but the 30-year-old will be offered a new deal to keep him in Turin until 2018.

Tevez as good as Juventus icon Zidane - Lippi

The former Bianconeri boss believes that the Argentine has established himself
as "the leader of the team" - just as the Frenchman did under him in the 1990s.

Oct 17, 2014

Marcello Lippi has hailed Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, claiming he is as good as former France superstar Zinedine Zidane.

Tevez has been in magnificent form this season, scoring eight goals in all competitions and six in Serie A, with the Bianconeri currently topping the table with a 100 per cent record.

Consequently, Lippi feels that Tevez is proving just as influential as former charge Zidane, who inspired Juve to two Serie A titles during his five years in Turin during the 1990s.

"Tevez is playing so well that he reminds me of Juve's best days. He has reached the level that Zidane was at while at Juventus," Lippi told Tuttosport.

"He is now a leader of the team and he has not missed one step.

"He is so unique. There is no phenomenon like him, not even at Roma, who have many highly talented players."

Lippi added: "The squad is very experienced. Tevez is doing great things for Juventus but Juventus is doing great things for Tevez also.

"As a former coach of Juventus, with the club in my heart, I can only wish that the team takes off in the Champions League."

Lippi, who also hailed Roma's Miralem Pjanic as a "great player", ended by stating that Arturo Vidal will stay at Juventus despite again being linked with a transfer away from the club.

"His future is in Turin, and I think that the Chilean has already said that," he concluded.

Tevez: Juventus Can Progress Despite Olympiacos Defeat

Oct 22, 2014

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez firmly believes his side can progress in the Champions League despite defeat to Olympiacos.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team were dealt a stinging 1-0 defeat in Greece, which now leaves Juventus third in Group A three points behind Olimpiacos and Atletico Madrid.

“We need to grow as a team when we play in Europe,” the Argentinian said to Sky Sport Italia post match.

“Qualifying for the next phase is going to be difficult but now we look ahead to the next fixture,” he added.

The Bianconeri conceded through Pajtim Kasami but the heroics of goalkeeper Roberto ensured the win.

“The Olympiacos goalkeeper was incredible and he earned them the three points,” Tevez then told Mediaset.

“We’re looking to turn the page. We are Juventus and we will search for a way of recovering from here.

“Juventus has a history of playing well in the league but not so well in Europe. We have to change this.

“It will be difficult, but we can do it with the players we have,” the 30 year-old concluded.

Tevez returns to Argentina squad

The striker has been selected by Gerardo Martino for the friendlies against

Portugal and Croatia, having been overlooked by his country since 2011.

Oct 27, 2014

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has been handed his first Argentina call-up for three years after being named in the squad for their forthcoming friendlies.

The former Manchester City forward has been in the international wilderness since 2011, when he made an appearance in the Copa America quarter-final defeat to Uruguay.

However, Gerardo Martino, who took over as head coach of the Albiceleste following their World Cup final defeat this summer, stated earlier this month that "the doors were open" to Tevez to return to the squad should he prove his worth at club level.

And the former Barcelona boss has finally rewarded the 30-year-old striker with a return to the squad to face Portugal and Croatia, after his eight goals in 10 games for Juventus so far in 2014-15.

Captain Lionel Messi is also included in what is otherwise a largely-expected squad, along with Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Manchester United star Angel Di Maria and Barcelona's Javier Mascherano.

Willy Caballero is handed a place despite his lack of game time for City this season, while Tottenham's Erik Lamela is included to cap a fine few days following his outstanding rabona goal in the Europa League.

Squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero (Sampdoria), Willy Caballero (Manchester City), Nahuel Guzman (Tigres)

Defenders: Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia), Martin Demichelis (Manchester City), Marcos Rojo (Manchester United), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City), Federico Fazio (Tottenham), Federico Fernandez (Swansea), Ezequiel Garay (Zenit), Facundo Roncaglia (Genoa), Cristian Ansaldi (Atletico Madrid)

Midfielders: Javier Mascherano (Barcelona), Ever Banega (Sevilla), Robert Pareyra (Juventus), Lucas Biglia (Lazio), Angel Di Maria (Manchester United), Erik Lamela (Tottenham), Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain), Enzo Perez (Benfica), Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica)

Forwards: Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Carlos Tevez (Juventus), Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City).

Juventus to rest Tevez

Oct 31, 2014

Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri will rest Carlos Tevez for the Bianconeri’s trip to Empoli, according to reports.

The Argentinean has been in top form for the Old Lady this season, with eight goals in 12 games.

However, The Apache hasn't found the back of the net since the win over Roma on October 5 and Tuttosport believes that the striker will be rested ahead of a Champions League clash with Olympiacos.

The former Manchester United man hasn’t been rested since Cesena visited Juventus Stadium on September 24, and the newspaper believes that Allegri is keen to have Tevez in top condition when the Greeks visit Turin for what is a do-or-die game for the Bianconeri after back-to-back Champions League defeats.

The Turin-based sports daily reports that Sebastian Giovinco is the man being lined-up to replace Tevez for Old Lady’s trip to Tuscany this weekend.

With the ‘Atomic Ant’ having played only 110 minutes in all competitions this season, the diminutive forward is seen as fresher and will be handed a starting berth as he faces his former side.

Tevez deserves Argentina recall - Allegri

The 30-year-old celebrated his return to the international fold with two goals
against Parma and his coach has hailed his commitment and quality.

Nov 10, 2014

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri says that Carlos Tevez richly deserves his recall to the Argentina set-up.

The former Manchester City striker scored twice in the Bianconeri's 7-0 demolition of Parma on Sunday, including a stunning solo effort which saw him run the length of the pitch before firing home.

The 30-year-old was handed a place in Gerardo Martino's latest national squad - his first since 2011 - and Allegri believes it is a just reward.

"Tevez scored an extraordinary goal," he is quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"It was something he needed because it had been a while since he last scored. He's an example for the way he trains and he's celebrated his richly deserved call-up to the Argentina squad in the best possible way."

Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Morata also found the net twice in the Turin rout and Allegri believes he has great options and variety in attack.

"We've got an excellent group of strikers, from the 'older' players like Tevez and Llorente, to the younger ones like [Kingsley] Coman and Morata.

"We had a couple of issues in the first 15 minutes, but then we broke the deadlock and the lads read the game well. I'm very happy."

Tevez delighted with goalscoring run for Juventus

The Argentina star, who was recently recalled to the national side on the back of his performances
at club level, revealed his delight after scoring his 11th goal of the season.

Nov 23, 2014

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez believes he is in "the best form of his career" after netting his 11th goal of the season against Lazio on Saturday.

The Serie A leaders beat the Biancocelesti 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico with Tevez's second-half strike sandwiched between a brace from Paul Pogba.

The 30-year-old's strike moved him to the top of Italy's goalscoring charts and the former Manchester United and Manchester City player admitted after the game that he couldn't be happier.

“I am at a great club, I am happy playing my football and I am giving my all on the field," he told reporters. "I do agree, this is the best form of my career.”

Tevez recently ended his three-year exile from the Argentina team as was delighted that Juventus avoided any repeat of the slip that followed the last international break, when they drew at Sassuolo.

“I expected this performance, although it was the first game after the international break and we couldn’t afford to get this wrong after last time,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

With Juventus three points clear in Serie A, their attention now turns to the Champions League, with their progress to the knockout stages less certain in a tough group containing Olympiakos and Atletico Madrid.

"First we need to play Malmo, then we’ll see where we are," he continued. "We have to play the same way we did against Parma and Lazio, as with that level of performance it’s tough for us to lose.”

Tevez: Juventus must improve

The Argentina international has demanded more from his team-mates as
their qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League goes to the last day.

Nov 27, 2014

Carlos Tevez has stressed that Juventus must up their game if they are to achieve anything in the Champions League this term.

The Serie A champions recorded a 2-0 win over Malmo on Wednesday following Fernando Llorente's first-half strike before Tevez's goal late in the second period secured the win, but the Argentine was by no means satisfied with his side's performance.

Massimiliano Allegri's men are now three points ahead of Olympiakos heading into the last round of fixtures knowing that only a draw against group leaders Atletico Madrid will secure a place in the last-16 and Tevez feels a vast improvement is needed from the Bianconeri.

"We didn't play well in the first period but after Fernando's goal Malmo came out into the open more and that's when we saw Juventus at their best," Tevez told the club's official website.

"I did expect a bit more from us, though. We're Juventus and we have to improve constantly. We can't be giving away 45 minutes like that. But at the end of the day the main thing was getting the win.

"Even in games like that, with all the pressure there is on anyone who pulls on the Juve jersey, we need to show that we're capable of enjoying ourselves out there.

"If you're having fun, you're more likely to play well than badly. We need to take away some of the pressure that comes with playing in the Champions League and concentrate on enjoying our football in Europe too."

Requejo: Tevez Could Make Boca Juniors Return

Dec 6, 2014

Boca Juniors head coach Jose Requejo is convinced that Juventus’ star striker Carlos Tevez will make a return to his boyhood club in 2016.

Tevez, 30, began his career with the Xeneizes before enjoying a hugely successful career in Europe and Requejo admits that he would love to bring the Argentina star back to his favourite side.

“Tevez will not return to Boca in 2015, but I am convinced we can bring him back to Argentina in 2016,” he told Telam Deportes.

The Apache, as he is commonly known, has enjoyed a trophy laden career winning league titles with Boca, Corinthians, Manchester United, Manchester City and most recently helped Juventus to win the Scudetto last season.

Marotta on Tevez-Boca reunion

Dec 14, 2014

Beppe Marotta insists Carlos Tevez is “in his natural habitat” at Juventus, but won’t rule out a return to Boca Juniors.

The Bianconeri director was asked about the rumours sparked by Tevez’s brother, who wrote several posts on Twitter implying an imminent move to his old club Boca.

“I have to say at this moment there is no reason for alarm, because he is very happy here, had the chance to rehabilitate himself as a professional and achieve great results as a consequence,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“In my view there’s no reason to think of a divorce. It’s only logical that an Argentinean man will sooner or later want to become a protagonist again in his own country.”

Beppe Marotta: Carlos Tevez not leaving Juventus in 'near future'

Dec 15, 2014

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has ruled out losing Carlos Tevez in the "very near future," but acknowledged the forward is destined to return to Argentina eventually.

Tevez, 30, was linked with a return to Boca Juniors last week after his brother wrote on Twitter that it "won't be long now" before he is back celebrating scoring goals for the first club of his career.

"Sooner or later," was the response from Marotta when asked about Tevez's likely return home, although the emphasis was on the latter.

"I have to say that right now there is absolutely no cause for concern because he's in his natural habitat here," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia on Sunday. "In the last seven or eight years, he's found the way back to his best and I don't think there is absolutely any reason to think there might be a divorce between us.

"But then he is Argentinean and he loves his country and sooner or later he wants to be a star back there again, but I think that is only human nature and logical.

"He's certainly not going to go back to Argentina in the very near future. We don't get that feeling so I can categorically deny that he's unsettled or that there are any signs pointing in that direction."

Tevez still has over 18 months left to run on his Juve contract and has scored nine goals in 13 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri this season.

He started his career with Boca before moving to Corinthians in 2005. From there, he had spells with West Ham United, Manchester United and Manchester City before arriving in Turin in 2013, scoring 19 league goals in his first season with the club.

Boca: 'We discussed Tevez return'

Dec 15, 2014

The President of Boca Juniors had dinner with Juventus and Carlos Tevez tonight. “We discussed his return to Boca.”

These reports have been circulating for several days now, fuelled by tweets from Tevez’s brother hinting at a comeback to his old club.

This evening Boca President Daniel Angelici was in Italy for a group dinner with Tevez and Juventus President Andrea Agnelli.

“We discussed his return to Boca, without giving a precise date,” confirmed Angelici to reporters.

“He has a contract until 2016 and we respect Juve. However, if Carlos did want to come back earlier, we’d make an effort to ensure he finishes his career at his home.

“It was a positive meeting with Agnelli. We talked about many things: the objective is to reinforce the institutional bonds between the two clubs.”

It’s also likely they talked about Boca Juniors talent Tomas Pochettino, as Juve have an option to sign him in January.

Tevez Dismisses Boca Juniors Rumours

Dec 15, 2014

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has dismissed rumours he is set to move to Argentinian side Boca Juniors.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that the Argentinian club held talks with the forward but the player was quick to dismiss these rumours.

Speaking at the Gran Galà del Calcio the Argentine spoke about his future and quickly responded when asked if he would be moving to Boca.

“No, it is not true,” he said. “I have a contract with Juventus [until 2016] and I want to stay here in Italy.”

The 30-year-old also talked about the ongoing battle with Roma, who trail last year’s Scudetto winners by a point.

“It’s a tough duel between two great teams that I hope will last until the end of the season.”

The Argentine was also asked what he thought his team’s chances against Borussia Dortmund were, after the Old Lady drew the German side in the UEFA Champions League draw.

“We are a great team and we can do well. I have confidence in my teammates.”

Tevez: I won't renew with Juventus

The Argentine has enjoyed a fine run of form since his move to Turin
but admits he doesn't plan to stay with the Old Lady past 2016.

Dec 31, 2014

Carlos Tevez has revealed he has no plans to extend his current contract with Juventus.

The Argentine has been in fine form since his move to the Serie A champions and is currently their top scorer in the league.

However, Tevez has no desire to continue his legacy in Turin past his current deal.

“I want to respect my contract until 2016,” he told reporters at Buenos Aires airport, “That's my plan.

“I don't want to extend, that's not how I feel at the moment.”

When asked if he would consider a return to boyhood club Boca Juniors, the 30-year-old urged calmness on any decisions regarding his future.

“It's too hard to say right now,” he said, “I'm playing at a high level so it's important to be calm and enjoy being in the moment.

“Constant speculation would drive me crazy.”

Tevez might stay at Juventus, says Allegri

The coach feels that the striker could go back on his recent comments
in which he suggested he would not extend his contract in Turin beyond next summer.

Jan 5, 2015

Massimiliano Allegri has mused that striker Carlos Tevez may yet go back on his claims he will not extend his current Juventus contract.

The striker, 30, signed for the Turin club while Antonio Conte was in charge at the start of the 2013-14 season and his deal in Italy runs for another 18 months.

When asked recently about his plans beyond next summer, the ex-Manchester City and Manchester United forward was up front that he would like to return to his native Argentina in the not-too-distant future.

However, Allegri suggested that Tevez could have a change of heart in the coming months and has no doubt that the Argentina international's motivation to succeed will not falter irrespective of his desire to leave in 2016.

"There is still one and a half years left to go," he told reporters on Monday. "Maybe he can change his mind.

"We’re all professional and everybody can plan his career and his life the way they want. I have no doubt that Carlos will be professional until the end."

Boca: 'Tevez to us in 2016'

Jan 18, 2015

Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici insists Juventus striker Carlos Tevez “wants a return to us in 2016.”

The patron has been suggesting this for some time and Tevez always said he’d like to finish his playing career with his beloved club in Argentina.

“Tevez’s plan is to wear our jersey again,” declared Angelici in La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport.

“To return after such a long time to play two or three ‘comfortable’ years at home. He wants this, his children want it and so does all of his family.

“Of course, his plans could change over a year and a half, but at this moment his plan is to return to us in 2016.

“I was not surprised when Tevez said he didn’t intend to renew his contract with Juventus. It also goes without saying our door is wide open for him.

“Tevez isn’t just a former Boca player for the fans: he is an idol. The feeling is mutual, as he goes to bed very late in order to watch the Boca games on television despite the time difference.

“He’ll send me text messages during the matches. The day I presented the plan to build a new training centre Tevez was by my side and he promised he’ll be there for the inauguration too.

“I also chatted to Juventus in December and they do not see me as the ‘enemy.’ The reason is simple: they realise that Carlos’ decisions must be respected.

“The player’s intention is the only weapon Boca have to hope for his return in 2016, as our economic situation wouldn’t get us anywhere close to his price-tag or his wages.”

Tevez 'won't lie' about Boca option

Jan 18, 2015

Carlos Tevez said he feels at home at Juventus, but is open to a Boca Juniors return. “I don’t like lying to people.”

The striker spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 4-0 drubbing of Hellas Verona, in which he scored a brace.

“The best news is that we look like a real team with quality, hard work and results. It’s important for us to prove we are 23 players and not just 11, as we all work for the same objective.

“Every day Pogba impresses me! He’s a phenomenon who surprises you every day and it only depends on him now how far he can go.

“We have a great chance of making history in the Champions League with Juventus, but now we are focused on Serie A and want to do well in all competitions.

“We all dream of the Champions League: players, fans and club. With the squad at our disposal, it is possible and we’ll see what happens.”

This week Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici again declared Tevez plans to come back in 2016.

“At this moment I am not thinking of a contract renewal. I am simply not thinking about it,” explained Apache.

“I don’t like lying to people, so I don’t want to sign a five-year contract with Juve and then risk not seeing it through.

“Of course I could change my mind, as I feel at home here at Juve. I haven’t made any decisions yet for the future. I just said it was a thought of going back to Boca, but not right now.”

Tevez: I could stay at Juventus

The Serie A top scorer has revealed he could still sign a new deal
despite earlier declaring he would not be extending his stay in Turin beyond 2016.

Jan 19, 2015

Carlos Tevez has made it clear that he has not made a final decision about his future and could still stay at Juventus.

The 30-year-old has a contract with the Serie A champions until June 2016 but recently revealed that he does not want to sign a new deal at this stage, fuelling speculation he has set his sights on a return to Argentina.

However, Tevez has stressed he could still opt to pen a new contract and continue with Juventus.

"Going home is just a thought I’ve had, I don’t want to lie to people and the fans. But it’s a thought that could change," the striker told reporters.

"I’ve got a year left on my contract and play for a club at which I feel at home. I’ll make the most of this unique moment for the time being."

Tevez then went on to praise Paul Pogba in the wake of the Frenchman's fine form in recent weeks and believes the midfielder will only get better.

"Paul surprises you every day, even in training. How far he can go depends solely on him, but I think he’s got more to offer."

Tevez wants Champions League glory with Juventus, says agent

The attacker's representative has stressed his main focus
for now is winning silverware rather than discussing a contract renewal.

Jan 20, 2015

Carlos Tevez dreams of winning the Champions League with Juventus but won't discuss a new contract for at least another 12 months, according to his agent.

The Argentina international's existing deal with the Serie A champions is due to expire in June 2016 and Tevez stressed earlier this week that he has yet to make a decision about his future.

His agent Kia Joorabchian has now added that the 30-year-old is focused on winning silverware for now and will consider his options at some stage next season.

"Carlos will deal with the contractual issue in a year or so and no sooner. We will see what happens then," Joorabchian told Tuttosport.

"He has told me that he wants to focus on winning the Scudetto again and the Champions League. He wants to win all competitions Juventus take part in.

"Tevez really wants to win it all during his time at Juventus. It is his dream to win the Champions League.

"He has told me that he is feeling very well in Turin and so is his family. He is feeling right at home at Juventus. The fans love him and that's important to him as well."

Tevez has been a key performer for Juventus this campaign, scoring 13 goals in 18 Serie A appearances.
