Juventus announced on Tuesday that Khedira will miss the next two to three weeks with a hamstring strain, meaning that he is the latest starter to be ruled out due to injury within the last week and is now a serious doubt for the first leg of Juve's Champions League Round of 16 matchup against Bayern Munich later this month. Here's the official word, courtesy of Juventus' website: Absent from tomorrow's assignment at Juventus Stadium is Sami Khedira. After reporting continued discomfort in his right thigh after the game against Chievo, the midfielder underwent a series of medical tests. These revealed a torn adductor longus muscle which is expected to keep Khedira sidelined for two to three weeks. You'll also notice that in Allegri's 21-man squad for Genoa's trip to Juventus Stadium on Wednesday night that there are two other noticeable things with the squad list. For one, Giorgio Chiellini is also an absentee, which might just be for rest considering there is no injury news being reported. Secondly, long-time injury absentee and on-loan midfielder Mario Lemina has returned for the first time in a long time. And seeing as Khedira is out, it's good to at least know that Juve aren't totally out down to the bare minimum when it comes to midfielders. But when it comes to Khedira, I feel like there's only one thing to say about it: Dammit. (Throw in a couple of sarcastic thumbs up emojis in there, too, if you want.) If there is one single player not named Kwadwo Asamoah who has absolutely horrible luck with injuries this season, need to look no further than Brother Sami. There was the lengthy injury absence within his first few weeks at the club, and now he can't seem to kick this minor yet annoying muscle strains that have kept him out a couple of weeks. At least Sturaro is around. He has certainly proven to be a suitable replacement for Khedira.

Why did they not make any substantial moves? With a near perfect squad, a beautifully balanced team and 12 consecutive wins, the answer is simple -- there was no need to buy. The depth of the squad means that even if the club suffer injuries, there are several options who can provide the level of performance required. Yet while the club opted to make no major investments for the first team, general manager Beppe Marotta and sporting director Fabio Paratici worked on the club's long term strategy, investing in youth products and scouting the youngsters they hope to bring to the club in the summer. With Rolando Mandragora signed and Stefano Sensi secured by way of Sassuolo, the Bianconeri are targeting Gianluca Lapadula and Gianluca Caprari next, two forwards from Pescara who could collectively cost the club €9 million, a figure Paratici is attempting to lower. The CIES Football Observatory studied which clubs have made the most money from selling their youth products. According to the figures published in 2015, Southampton were the most profitable club, making approximately €90m from selling their youth products since 2012. Listing the top 20 most profitable youth academies in Europe, it was interesting to note that while nearly all the major clubs were included, Italy boasted only one representative, Atalanta, who posted a €23m profit. None of the peninsula's traditional top three clubs made the list. With the likes of Borussia Dortmund making €43m and Paris St-Germain €23m, it's important Juventus exploit this particular opportunity for revenue. The Bianconeri already noted how much money can be made from the youngsters who aren't good enough for their first team. Take Manolo Gabbiadini and Ciro Immobile's sales as an example. Looking at the first team, the directors know that if they had sold Simone Zaza, Stefano Sturaro and Daniele Rugani in this winter market -- players that collectively cost the club approximately €33m -- they could have reportedly made €64m. He displayed nice communication with Bonucci and Barzagli. Bonucci 6.5 - Leo played a solid defensive game. He also showed his long-passing ability. Barzagli 6.5 - Barza won points for his effective performance on the left flank. He never put a foot wrong. Lichtsteiner 7 - The Swiss Express attacked at will. His assist for Morata's first goal was superb. Khedira 7 - Big Sami played a superb first half. He delivered a clever assist and presented another box-to-box effort. Marchisio 7 - Il Principino played a simple and organized game. He controlled effortlessly the midfield. Pogba 8.5 - When Paul plays like he did Sunday, he can sit at soccer's VIP table. He was a force on defense and was unstoppable with the ball at his feet. Sandro 7.5 - He created havoc in Chievo's defense during most parts of the game. He could have easily scored another goal. Dybala 7 - La Joya was always involved in the game. He didn´t had a score or an assist but as always he showcased his playmaking skills. Morata 8 - Self-confidence does wonders. The Spaniard was allover the pitch, and once again displayed his killer instincts and topnotch mobility. Subs Sturaro 6.5 - Entered for Khedira at 45th minute. The industrious midfielder had another solid cameo. He played with his customary stamina. Hernanes 6 - Entered for Marchisio at 69th minute. The prophet managed the final moments of the game with aplomb. He completed a couple of flashy dribbles. Padoin s/v - Entered for Litchsteiner at 81st minute. He's the icon of Juventus' victory. Coach Allegri 7.5 - Max recovered Morata just in time. Juventus was always in control from the first to the last minute of this game. He must start to rotate his players. Things, I think I think It was really hard to wake up so early on Sunday, however, this game is certainly worth the red eyes. Morata is catching fire. It's going to be fun to watch the battle for Juventus' prima punta. He remains the most composed Juve defender. Stephan Lichtsteiner, 8 -- Allowed plenty of opportunities to stride ahead on the right, Lichtsteiner passed with ease, brought others into play and remained on hand to offer solutions to teammates. A relentless runner. Sami Khedira, 7 -- Wonderful runs forward, excellent positioning. He has been guilty of a few errors but he knows exactly where to stand and how to help the team, securing an assist to prove how valuable he is to the squad. Claudio Marchisio, 7 -- Allowed more of an opportunity to strike from distance, Marchisio perfectly balances his duties, winning back possession as well as pushing the team forward. Paul Pogba, 9 -- Confident and technical, after a shaky start to the season the youngster has demonstrated why he's destined to win the Ballon d'Or in the future. Creative, hardworking and incredibly skilful, he creates and he scores. If only he didn't surrender to moments of selfish behaviour. Alex Sandro, 8 -- While reckless and impulsive on occasion, the player's offensive contributions are crucial to a side that attack from all angles, yet that doesn't mean he hasn't been excellent in defence. Coupling accuracy with stamina, how did Juve ever play without him? Paulo Dybala, 8 -- One of the smartest on the pitch, Dybala may always be targeted by the opponent but he always impacts the game. The positions he takes up, his vision going forward in addition to how well moves around the pitch make him invaluable. Alvaro Morata, 9 -- Back to his intelligent and confident best. Making the right runs, slipping past defenders and whizzing forward with electric pace, the Spaniard scored another brace this week to repay the faith shown in him by the coach. A player who needed to recover his form, his brilliance had been sorely missed. Substitutes Stefano Sturaro, 6 -- On for Khedira at half-time. Concentrated more on his defensive abilities, Sturaro is a safe substitute, a player who has the character required for such a big team and the physicality to annoy an opponent. Hernanes, 6 -- Replaced Marchisio in the 69th minute. By no means a terrible performance but the Brazilian does give the impression of being out of his depth in a club like Juve. Not as confident as composed as he ought to be considering the role played. Simone Padoin, NR -- Subbed on for Lichtsteiner in the 81st minute.
