This was a big deal considering what he's dealt with health-wise over the last month or so — having to be checked into the hospital after Juve's win over Genoa because he had trouble breathing and then subsequently undergoing heart surgery. But you couldn't have written a better script when it came to Juventus' first goal after the Old Lady fell behind 1-0. Paul Pogba with the chip to a sprinting Lichtsteiner over the top of the defense. And just as was the case when Andrea Prilo used to drop him dimes over the top, the Swiss Express finished it — this time, off the volley to even the score against Borussia Monchengladbach just before halftime. Juventus looked dead in the water for the better part of the first 30 minutes against Gladbach. But to get a goal right before the half not only energized them, but certainly gave them plenty of hope entering the second half. And, to have it be courtesy of Lichtsteiner, who missed 30 days due to the aforementioned heart surgery, is just as good of a moment as you can get. Not a bad way to mark your return to the starting lineup. Khedira was out for the next two months — again, not getting rid of that injury-prone history that he brought with him to Turin. But after coming back from his first Juventus injury, Khedira has picked up another. "Can't the guy catch any kind of break?" you ask yourself. Apparently the world is just out to prove that when it comes to the Juventus squad staying healthy this season, we just can't have nice things. We knew this news was coming after Khedira had to be replaced by Juan Cuadrado early in Saturday's 2-1 win over Torino in the Derby della Mole. The one thing is that we didn't know the severity of the injury itself. After a few hours of medical tests 48 hours after the fact, we've come to find out just how long Juventus will be without their No. 6 in the center of the midfield. The midfielder will therefore miss out on the Champions League trip to Germany and his condition will be monitored over the coming days. I'll point out there was a slight sigh of relief after reading the short medical update when I saw it in the morning. I'll take Khedira missing one game — albeit a quite important Champions League game — over the potential of him missing one or two months. When you saw him laying on the Juventus Stadium turf on Saturday, the "Here we go again..." thoughts had to be racing through your mind. They were certainly racing through mine, that's for sure. So, as much as Juventus will likely miss Khedira against Borussia Monchengladbach, if he's back training in the next couple of days, it's fine by me. It could have been a lot worse because we've been essentially trained to think bad things when it comes to Juventus players and injuries. Cuadrado is on loan, and clearly not wanted by Chelsea after his move to the English champions last all of about, oh, six months. While Cuadrado — even with his goal against Torino over the weekend — has cooled off a little bit, the talk of him having more than just a one-season stay at Juventus hasn't died down by any means. According to both Italian sports dailies Tuttosport and the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport on Monday, Juventus want to make their acquisition of Cuadrado a permanent one. And not next summer, but come the January transfer window, which is quickly approaching come the turn of the calendar to 2016. Enough with the loan move for the 27-yard-old Colombian Good move? Bad move? Wait-and-see-how-he-does-come-May kind of move? Through 15 or so games, an argument for each of those scenarios can be made. At least I think that's the case. Obviously Cuadrado has found a liking to being back in Serie A, a place where he was one of the best before his move to England and Chelsea. Is he €25 million good, though? That's the question ... and the reported release clause it would take to get Cuadrado's move to become permanent whenever a deal is going to potentially happen. But, knowing how Beppe Marotta works, if that €25 million price tag that Tuttosport has any truth behind, then there's no way they're going to just hand over that kind of money to Chelsea. You know Marotta and Fabio Paratici will go into negotiation mode to try and get the price to a much more Juventus-friendly figure. Who knows, though. If Cuadrado keeps being relatively productive, I don't doubt that Juve will try to sign Cuadrado come January or during the summer transfer window. There's truth to this, sure, but we just don't know when it will actually happen. Some will probably prefer it to be over the summer because we've seen Cuadrado play an entire season and the sample size is much better to gage just how Cuadrado may fit into the club's plans going forward next season.
