  1. Pogba could leave Juventus - Marotta The Serie A champions have admitted for the first time that the midfielder could be sold if a big-money bid is made. Jan 19, 2015 Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta believes the financial might of some of Europe's biggest clubs could eventually force them to sell Paul Pogba. The 21-year-old recently signed a new deal until the summer of 2019, but the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation in Turin. Marotta has stressed Juventus will do all they can to ensure the France international stays put for as long as possible, but is realistic over the potential salary the midfielder could command elsewhere. "We will do everything within out limits to hold on to Pogba, but we must not forget Italy is a country in transition," Marotta told reporters. "The problem we have is that of offers coming in from other clubs offering him a salary that we are not able to match due to our financial situation. "At the moment, there's no reason to believe that Pogba will definitely leave Juventus for another team, but we have to bear in mind that we cannot compete with the wages that are being paid elsewhere. We have our limits." Pogba has been a key figure for Juventus this term, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
  2. Tevez: I could stay at Juventus The Serie A top scorer has revealed he could still sign a new deal despite earlier declaring he would not be extending his stay in Turin beyond 2016. Jan 19, 2015 Carlos Tevez has made it clear that he has not made a final decision about his future and could still stay at Juventus. The 30-year-old has a contract with the Serie A champions until June 2016 but recently revealed that he does not want to sign a new deal at this stage, fuelling speculation he has set his sights on a return to Argentina. However, Tevez has stressed he could still opt to pen a new contract and continue with Juventus. "Going home is just a thought I’ve had, I don’t want to lie to people and the fans. But it’s a thought that could change," the striker told reporters. "I’ve got a year left on my contract and play for a club at which I feel at home. I’ll make the most of this unique moment for the time being." Tevez then went on to praise Paul Pogba in the wake of the Frenchman's fine form in recent weeks and believes the midfielder will only get better. "Paul surprises you every day, even in training. How far he can go depends solely on him, but I think he’s got more to offer."
  3. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Juventus 4 - Hellas Verona 0: Paul Pogba stars as Bianconeri continue scoring for fun Jan 19, 2014 Juventus beat Hellas Verona heavily for the second time in three days on Sunday, a 4-0 result that heaped on the pain for Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini after a 6-1 result in the Coppa Italia on Thursday. They say it's difficult to beat the same opponent twice in quick succession, with the loser getting a chance to fix the problems and create more problems in the second match, but Juventus-Hellas Verona showed the total opposite. Two goals in the first 10 minutes put an end to any hope of Verona getting the result, and the majority of the match was fairly calm possession play from Juventus, although the home side seemed able to create a chance whenever they wanted. Verona struggled to create anything all game, with a few hopeful long balls and crosses and a solo counter from Lazaros Christodoulopoulos the best they could muster, all easily dealt with by the Juventus defense. Martín Cáceres has been fantastic since coming back into the side at right-back, contributing even more going forward than Stephan Lichtsteiner. It will be fascinating to see how the battle for that position develops, and although it will lead to some difficult decisions it is precisely the kind of problem Massimiliano Allegri wants to have. Paul Pogba was massive in midfield, with his recent form making that Balon d'Or seem just around the corner as he becomes more involved in everything Juventus does, taking more responsibility in central midfield and turning his incredible ability into scoring opportunities even more regularly. After the excellent attacking performance midweek it's no surprise that Allegri wanted to reward some of the star performers, and despite failing to find the back of the net in either match Álvaro Morata seems set to finally grab the starting role alongside Carlos Tévez. The attack seems much less predictable with the younger, faster Morata buzzing around and taking on defenders, while his holdup play certainly seems good enough. Willing to track back as far as his own byline and surely in line for some better luck finishing, Morata is doing everything to make the spot his own. The Old Lady steamrollered a Verona side that seemed to show up expecting the worst, and now lead Serie A by five points after Roma was held to a draw in Palermo. The Mastiffs will be seriously shaken by two dismal performances against the champions in Turin, but with Parma and Cesena looking very much primed for the drop, it seems unlikely the tailspin will be bad enough to put them in serious trouble. Mandorlini may not be so lucky however, as his teams past two performances, despite a few decent individuals, have been so disjointed and depressing that pressure must be mounting. Allegri on the other hand, looks better than ever, with young players looking ready to take the next step and proven performers having some of their best moments. Although Verona offered so little resistance, Juventus played like champions all over the pitch. Since coming back from the winter break Juventus is playing its best football in a long time, and long may it continue. MATCH SUMMARY Almost as soon as it began this match was over as a contest, with Pogba, Morata, and Tévez contributing to two goals in the first ten minutes, after which both sides for the most part seemed content to conserve energy and watch the clock run down. Juventus seemed able to create a chance every time they set their mind to it and raised the tempo just a touch, as Verona's deep lines were shredded at will by the intelligent movement and passing of the Juventus attack and midfield. It was three minutes in when Pogba broke the deadlock, with Morata collecting a pass down the left side and dribbled infield, drawing three defenders before teeing up Pogba for a fantastic strike, curled into the far corner from well outside the box. Perhaps Rafael in the Verona net was a bit slow to react, but it was a fantastic strike from a player who seems more amazing every week. In the 10th minute Juventus doubled the lead, and Morata was integral again as he collected Martín Cáceres' ball out of defense and digging out a cross, which took a kind deflection before Pogba got a shout and left it for Tévez to drive home. Juventus continued to press in the early going, with Andrea Pirlo getting a couple decent looks from free kicks, as Verona struggled to contain the movement of the Juventus attack. With two mobile strikers, Roberto Pereyra and Claudio Marchisio constantly running behind the defense, and Pogba and the fullbacks contributing as well, the Juventus attack looks much more dangerous than just a few weeks ago. Verona finally got some possession around the 15th minute, but even with the ball they only looked interested in keeping the score down. A couple of slack giveaways in the buildup were the only real chance for Verona to get back into the game, but Luca Toni was isolated against the Juventus defense and unable to trouble Gianluigi Buffon. Pogba continued a fantastic start to the game, able to pick a defense-splitting pass or do all the work himself, beating opponents for skill and strength. Morata could have had a deserved goal when a chipped ball for Marchisio forced a sloppy back-header, but Rafael Márquez just did enough to put him off. The game continued fairly settled at 2-0, with Juventus upping the tempo occasionally and getting very close to a third, including a Cáceres shot that whistled wide after Pirlo's low free kick was deflected by the wall. Around the 40th minute the Pogba show returned, as he was involved in everything on both ends. Shimmying past a man and nearly grabbing another curling wondergoal, then intercepting a pass to nearly play in Tévez, before sprinting back and easily outjumping Luca Toni when Verona tried to play long. As the match ticked towards halftime Verona still had little idea with the ball, with Juventus dominating every matchup on the field. Still able to easily work space deeper in midfield and with constant runs beyond the defensive line, it seemed only a matter of time until Juventus grabbed its third goal of the evening. The second half started with a flurry as Juventus tried to add to the lead, with Morata heavily involved as he just missed setting up Marchisio with a backheel and blasted wide from long range. Cáceres combined well down the right with the strikers and Marchisio, and Rafa Márquez was called on repeatedly to keep the scoreline down. Morata nearly set up Tévez following excellent harrying down the right as he dispossessed Guillermo Rodríguez, but put too much pace on the cross. Lazaros was the only Verona player who looked like he might get something out of the match, as he kept running hard and trying to create something either on the counter or by winning the ball in a dangerous area, but he never had enough help against a determined Juventus defense. After losing the clean sheet on Thursday, the Juve backline seemed determined to not let it happen again. In the 66th minute Juventus finally got the third goal, with Giorgio Chiellini charging forward as the Verona defense looked on like statues. On the edge of the box a defender finally stepped out towards big Giorgio, but that only gave him space to play in Pereyra for the midfielder's first Serie A goal in a Juventus kit. With two goals in his last two games, following a barren streak since his summer move, Pereyra getting into finishing form just adds another dimension to the Juventus attack. A few minutes later Carlos Tévez rounded out the scoring, completing his sixth brace of the season (fourth in the league,) and extending his lead atop the scorers charts with a cool finish between Rafael's legs. The move started with Cáceres winning a long ball and charging forward, laying the ball off to Marchisio and continuing his run into the penalty area. Marchisio followed suit, driving into the heart of the defense, before finding Tévez' run with a perfectly-timed assist. As the clock ran down there was little hope for Verona to get anything at all, as Pepe and Giovinco returned to the pitch following inspiring displays midweek. Verona had perhaps its best chance of the night when a Brivio cross nearly fell for Martić but the Croatian completely missed his kick. Juventus saw out the night seemingly looking for particular goalscorers, as the ball made its way towards Pepe, Evra, and Giovinco in good positions. None of the strikes caused any serious difficulties for Rafael however, who now leaves Turin with 10 goals conceded and the knowledge that it could have been worse. LE PAGELLE Buffon: N/A Clark Kent didn't need to change out of his suit for this one, as Verona hardly directed anything near the goal all game. Cáceres: 7 A fantastic shift from the versatile defender, who used his pace and energy to run the entire flank and even get into the box. Bonucci: 6.5 Kept Luca Toni well under wraps and played his role well in circulating possession, made a couple of mistakes but quick to recover. Chiellini: 7 Like his partner in defense Chiellini had no trouble winning the aerial battle with Lucone, also contributing an assist for Pereyra following a swashbuckling run. Evra: 6.5 Combining well with Pogba and very good in covering for his defensive partners, Evra could have done more in the final third but, like the entire team, played a good match. Marchisio: 7 Always stretching the defense, Marchisio was a constant menace, whether combining with the strikers and looking for a return or driving forward himself. Contributed an assist, and was very close to getting on the scoresheet. Pirlo: 7 With the changes brought by Allegri and Pogba's growth in running the game Pirlo's role has changed, but the veteran still has the skill and awareness to unlock a defense at any moment. Good in his defensive role and deadly from free kicks, Pirlo is still a big part of this team. Pogba: 8 The young Frenchman is showing perhaps the best form of his life, and the level seems to be rising every week. Dominant every time he gets on the ball, any weaknesses in his game are rapidly disappearing. Pereyra: 7 Somewhat hidden for parts of the game as he dedicated a lot of effort to Marchisio-like runs to create space for others, Pereyra came to life in the second half, getting on the ball more and scoring with a confident finish after Chiellini played him in. Morata: 7.5 Despite not getting any of the 10 goals himself, Morata has played a vital role in Juventus' back-to-back wins over Verona. His pace and directness add variety to the Juventus attack, and he has made a very convincing argument for a starting role. Tévez: 7.5 Playing with Morata has not slowed Tévez at all, with the Argentine striker continuing to take his chances like an Olympic marksman. As always gave his strong showing in terms of effort and buildup play. Substitutes: Pepe: 6.5 Only given 15 minutes, Pepe showed his technique and a good turn of speed down the wing, as well as firing in a hopeful shot or two. Padoin: N/A Run out in midfield this time, Padoin did his thing: no frills, full effort. Giovinco: N/A Given a couple of minutes for Tévez the Italian striker tried to dribble through the defense or latch onto a ball over the top, but it never quite came off. Coach Allegri: 7.5 After a 6-1 win it would be normal for a side to sit back on its laurels a bit, especially when facing the same opponent only three days later, but Allegri's rotations and motivational skills contributed to an even more impressive performance. With all his moves seemingly paying off in spades, Allegri has proven the doubters wrong and made this team better. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  4. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Allegri tells Pogba: Win the Champions League, you'll win the Ballon d'Or The France midfielder was once again inspirational as Juventus put four past Hellas Verona to move five points clear in Serie A. Jan 18, 2014 Massimiliano Allegri is certain that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has the ability to win the Fifa Ballon d'Or. Pogba produced a fine display in Juve's 4-0 Serie A defeat of Verona on Sunday, breaking the deadlock after just three minutes with an unstoppable 30-yard strike. The France international also played a role in the second goal, allowing a Martin Caceres delivery to run for Carlos Tevez, who coolly swept Juve into a two-goal lead after just seven minutes. Roberto Pereyra added the third, with Tevez on target again 16 minutes from time, but it was Pogba who was picked out for praise by Juve coach Allegri - who is convinced that the former Manchester United man has the natural ability to be crowned the world's best. "We treat Pogba like a veteran," the coach told Sky Sport Italia. "But he is still very young. "I often tell him to think about which areas of the field he can do certain things, as sometimes he goes a bit over the top, [but on Sunday] he played a great game. "In order to win the Ballon d'Or you tend to need the Champions League or a major international trophy. He certainly has what it takes to achieve that." Real Madrid have been linked with a possible mega-money bid for Pogba in recent days but the midfielder has said he is not worth any transfer fee unless he continues to improve his form. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  5. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Mandorlini: Juventus Are An Insurmountable Mountain Jan 18, 2014 Following consecutive defeats to Juventus in Coppa Italia and Serie A play respectively, Hellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini hopes to rebuild from his team’s current run of form. A 6-1 defeat to the Bianconeri on Thursday and a 4-0 defeat on Sunday has left the Mastini wounded at 14th place in the Serie A table and in need of a boost in morale. “The relationship with the club is great,” said Mandorlini to Sky Sport Italia. “For us, Juventus is an insurmountable mountain, and has laid bare some of our limits. We thought we were doing a bit better before these two games but we fell, and we will rebuild. Our championship starts with the game against Atalanta.” He continued with reflections on the defensive struggles over the previous encounters with the league leaders. “Ten goals in a few days are bad, that’s for sure. We conceded a goal in the third minute, and we didn’t even have time to react before we conceded the second goal. From the psychological point of view it was a blow.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  6. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Juventus vs. Verona: Bianconeri Prove Change Is as Good as a Rest Jan 18, 2014 Having swept Napoli aside last weekend, Juventus made eight changes for their midweek cup tie with Hellas Verona. The result was a 6-1 mauling that was over as a contest the moment Sebastian Giovinco’s fifth-minute free kick found the back of the net. Reviewed in detail here, that match was testament to the depth of talent available to the Bianconeri, the club having assembled the strongest and most versatile squad on the peninsula. As they prepared to once again welcome the same opponent to Juventus Stadium on Sunday evening, Massimiliano Allegri urged his players not to underestimated the Gialloblu. “Don’t kid yourselves that Verona will play the same way,” the coach said at his pre-match press conference, per Football Italia. “They’ll be much more careful and won’t allow us many chances.” His comments were echoed by opposite number Andrea Mandolini, who promised reporters “it will be a different game, featuring different players,” per Juve’s official website. Both teams did indeed introduce a raft of new names to their respective lineups, with the return of leading scorers Carlos Tevez and Luca Toni arguably the most prominent. Fast-forward 90 minutes, and once again the scoreline reflected the complete dominance enjoyed by the Bianconeri, running out 4-0 winners without ever truly exerting themselves. Despite repeatedly going head-to-head over the years, the final result was yet another loss for Hellas Verona, their 22nd defeat in 26 visits to Turin, with the other four games all ending in draws. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Allegri altered seven of the 11 players who started the Coppa Italia encounter, retaining only Leonardo Bonucci, Paul Pogba, Roberto Pereyra and Alvaro Morata. The first of those was almost by necessity, the injury-hit nature of Juve’s defensive options making the 27-year-old essential to the solidity of the back line. Of the others, Pogba would open the scoring with a trademark thundering effort after just 160 seconds, while Pereyra would net the side’s third goal midway through the second half. While Verona were no match for the collective quality of Juventus, this clash was arguably won by the performance of Morata. More than any other player in the famous black and white stripes, the Spanish striker was responsible for this win, leading the line perfectly. Missing only a goal, his wonderful display delivered everything required of a modern forward as his cross-field pass created space for Pogba’s opener, while his ball into the box was dummied by the Frenchman for Tevez to double their advantage. The two front men almost combined again shortly after the restart, the Argentinian narrowly missing with a header after a pass from the former Real Madrid star. Having netted a penalty on Thursday, Morata was full of confidence and constantly sought opportunities to add to his tally of five goals so far this season. Yet he did so in an unselfish manner, his play allowing Juve’s excellent midfield players to break forward, and the amount of work he did off the ball was staggering to watch. Taking his lead from the hardworking Tevez, statistics from WhoScored.com show Morata registered two tackles and one interception, constantly pressuring the Veronese defence. While he may have failed in his search for a goal of his own, the pace of his running tormented the opposition, twisting them out of shape and creating space for others to fill. Morata offers a vastly different style to his compatriot Fernando Llorente, but Juventus will undoubtedly need both as the campaign progresses. The contrast provides two very different looks for the Bianconeri, allowing Allegri to tailor his team selection to any given opponent. No matter which he has chosen thus far, the result has been the same as the Juventus machine rolls on and the wins pile up with the club now five points clear of Roma atop the Serie A standings. JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen A banner is unfurled at #JStadium: "Years and seasons go by but we're once again Winter Champions." That has meant they have once again been crowned winter champions, a title given to the team leading the way at the halfway stage of the season. Ultimately a meaningless accolade, it does bode well for the future as 56 of the 81 teams to have been in front at the midway point have gone on to claim the Scudetto. A change of coach has brought a tactical switch to a back four, there has been heavy rotation on the field and none of it has slowed down the reigning champions. For Juventus, the more things change, the more they truly do stay the same. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  7. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Juventus 4 - Hellas Verona 0: Initial reaction and random observations Jan 18, 2014 I didn't think that Hellas Verona's second visit to Juventus Stadium in four days could look a lot like or even come close to resembling the first one. I was proven wrong without a doubt. And not over the course of 90 minutes. It took about, oh, seven or eight minutes for Juventus to destroy Hellas' spirits once again. How do I know this? Basically because this a picture of Hellas Verona manager Andrea Mandorlini reacting to how things are going against Juventus ... in the first half. It was, again, a complete rout by Juventus against Hellas Verona in Turin Sunday night. Paul Pogba dazzled ... again. Carlos Tévez scored goals ... again. Gigi Buffon barely did nothing en route to a clean sheet ... again. It was every bit of Thursday night's Coppa Italia victory transported into Sunday's Serie A fixture that officially signified the midway point of the season. I mean, when your Twitter feed starts filling up with everybody saying "I thought things would be a little different today..." 10 minutes into the game then you know not many people had any kind of idea Juventus — and to a lesser extent Hellas Verona — could replicate what happened just a few days earlier on the same ground. But it happened. And man oh man was it fun to watch. Again. So how do you like Juventus' response to the hugely disappointing 1-1 draw with Inter to begin the new year? A 3-1 win at the San Paolo against Napoli despite not playing all that great overall. A 6-1 beatdown against Hellas Verona in the Coppa Italia. And now, another dismantling of Hellas Verona, this time 4-0 with an accompanying poker face to go with it. This is the way things are going right now. No matter who Juventus throws on the field, they are getting the job done. And above all else, Juventus' stars are playing like stars again. You see Pogba command the midfield once again? Because you should have. You see Tévez score his Serie A-best 12th and 13th goals of the season? Because you should have. Not a bad thing to team with Roma dropping points against Palermo yesterday. Back to plus-5 in the standings, folks. JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen .@OfficialAllegri: "Credit to the lads. It wasn't easy to win after putting six past them before. We handled the game well." Juventus should play Hellas Verona every week. It has been decided. You're welcome. Random thoughts and observations Juventus wins 10-1 on aggregate. Or maybe we should just wait until the next game against Hellas Verona to decide what the aggregate score will be? I don't know. There's going to be too many goals to add up anyways. Seriously, I'm starting to think Paul Pogba isn't human. This current form he's on right now, there's a damn good reason why the Juventus Stadium crowd gets a little louder whenever Pogba is on the ball. His goal once again reminded everybody about just how deadly he is when shooting from long range. But it was everything he did that showed why he's now becoming a true star in European football. He's just so fun to watch. Another really nice game from Álvaro Morata, whose only downfall is that he probably should have had a goal. But his build-up play was great, as was combination play with Tévez. We'll see if two straight starts ends up being something to actually write home about. But there's no doubting Morata's made a strong case to Allegri as to why he should start over Fernando Llorente on a regular basis going forward. It took Roberto Pereyra until the middle of January to score his first two goal with the club, but both of them have been really, really nice. If he continues to adapt to life as a trequartista, that gives Allegri just one more option heading into the next few months of absolutely craziness with the schedule. Not sure if Giorgio Chiellini or Franz Beckenbauer. That run and assist on Pereyra's goal was pretty slick. Pogba Pogba isn't the only Juventus midfielder playing damn well right now. Claudio Marchisio, as he's done for a good portion of the season, was really good against Hellas Verona. He's just contributing in so many ways these days. Scoring chances of his own, setting up teammates, tracking back and defending, this is Claudio Marchisio at his best. Just don't fall into his gaze, everybody. It will get you every time. How much fun is this Juventus team having right now? Usually when you blow a goal-scoring opportunity, you see players facepalming and/or screaming at themselves (or each other). Tévez and Morata are there cracking smiles and having a laugh. Good times, good times. Still trying to figure out why Frederik Sorensen can't crack this Hellas Verona defense. I mean, they looked just as bad on Sunday as they did Thursday night in the Coppa Italia. Max Allegri has Juventus in the knockout stages of the Champions League, five points up on Roma in the Serie A table, and officially grabbed the winter champion tagline Sunday. Not a bad opening six months. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  8. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Tevez and Juventus show Roma how to lead from the front The Bianconeri battered Verona for the second time in four days, underlining the size of the gap between Garcia's challengers and Allegri's attack-minded leaders. Jan 18, 2014 By Kris Voakes | International Football Correspondent The unofficial crown of winter champions was already theirs, but Juventus gave a thrilling exhibition of their superiority in the Serie A title race while moving five points clear of Roma on Sunday. The Giallorossi's failure to pick up three points at Palermo on Saturday not only confirmed Juve's lead at the halfway stage of the season, but again showed that Rudi Garcia's men lack the cutting edge that is imperative in a championship hopeful. In comparison, 24 hours later the Bianconeri bared their teeth from the opening moments against Verona. Just seven minutes in, they were two goals clear and slotting back into second gear. They eventually won 4-0, adding to their 6-1 Coppa Italia triumph over the same side in midweek, four days from hell for Alberto Malesani's troops. Furthermore, it was the kind of showing that Roma themselves have been craving over the past month but have repeatedly been unable to deliver. Draws with AC Milan, Lazio and Palermo have proved costly at a time when the champions have beaten Cagliari, Napoli and now Verona. Roma regularly rely on Francesco Totti for inspiration and have found a regular goalscorer hard to come by; Massimiliano Allegri has been heavily aided by the sight of Carlos Tevez finding the net with ease, and his midfielders toying with opponents for fun. While Allegri has much more to prove both at home and abroad, his decision to switch the shape of his side from Antonio Conte's tried and tested 3-5-2 to a 4-3-1-2 is bearing fruit in great quantity. There are more angles of attack opening up, their play appears far more fluid and their style is far more pleasing on the eye than under previous management. Paul Pogba again stoked the fire within Juventus, thrashing home a low drive from distance in only the third minute before cleverly allowing the ball to reach Tevez at the far post for a second shortly afterwards. The Frenchman is quickly becoming not only the best player in Serie A but one of the greatest in the world. He was rumoured to be heading for Spain for talks with Real Madrid this weekend, but instead stayed in Turin and turned in another masterclass. Still, Florentino Perez might well be begging Pogba to board the first flight to the Spanish capital on Monday morning. But whereas Roma often look one-dimensional without their 38-year-old skipper, Juve have plenty more besides their star man. Even without Pogba, you get the feeling the Old Lady would find a way past opponents more often than not. There was no Arturo Vidal due to injury on Sunday, but you would have done well to notice. Juve simply overwhelmed their opposition. Their quality in the attacking third was never in doubt, with Roberto Pereyra and a second strike from Tevez adding some gloss in the second half. It was a far cry from Roma's tentative approach in front of goal in Palermo and the three games which preceded that trip. Adem Ljajic remains their top scorer this term with six goals, while Mattia Destro took his tally to five with the second-half equaliser in Sicily. Tevez has so far outscored the two of them put together, while he has Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente competing to be his striking foil. That underlines the difference. The culmination of the andata of the Serie A season taught us is that Juventus are still the runaway favourites for the title while Roma remaining nothing more than pretenders. And unless Roma can find a way to inject the same ruthlessness into their play that their title rivals display most weeks, then Juve's fourth successive Scudetto may be a more straightforward achievement than many originally anticipated. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  9. Pogba: I'm worth nothing unless I keep working The Frenchman is adamant he is not worth any significant transfer fee unless he continues to battle to achieve his goals. Jan 18, 2015 Paul Pogba has stressed that he is not worth any amount of money as speculation over his Juventus future intensifies. The Frenchman has been in fine form for the Italian champions this term and opened the scoring in their 4-0 victory over Hellas Verona on Sunday. His agent claimed earlier this week that he would leave the club sooner rather than later and reports this week had suggested he could be heading to Madrid to discuss a potential move to the European champions. However, the former Manchester United midfielder insists he is not worth any transfer fee unless he continues to work hard to improve his game. "I am worth €0. I am worth nothing unless I work on the field in every single game," he told Sky Sport Italia. "I hope for the Ballon d'Or in the future, but I have a lot of work for that. "I need to do more. I want to be a champion like Andrea [Pirlo] Gigi [buffon] and [Giorgio] Chiellini. I want to be one of the best in the world and must do everything to reach that level."

JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Allegri enjoys Juve clean sheet Jan 18, 2014 Max Allegri was above all content with a clean sheet after Juventus beat Verona 4-0 to go five points clear. “The credit goes to the lads, as for the fourth year running they are top of the table and attempting an extraordinary achievement,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia. “It was not an easy game tonight just days after beating Verona 6-1 in the Coppa Italia and indeed at one point we fell asleep, risking with three or four counter-attacks. “Nonetheless, the team showed great spirit and the real positive from the night is that we kept a clean sheet, as I had been angry at the number of goals we were conceding. We saw a clean sheet as another objective for the game. “I am very happy with the team, but I still see how much more we can do in future, as when we all move together to cover the spaces it becomes difficult for opponents. There are still moments when we fall asleep and run too many risks in defence.” This is the midway stage of the Serie A season and Juventus are five points clear of Roma, but Allegri isn’t getting ahead of himself. “So far this season we’re top of the table, through to the next round of the Champions League and Coppa Italia. The only setback was the defeat on penalties in the Super Cup. “There’s a long way to go and we will certainly run into difficulties. Let’s not forget when we had a series of draws people acted as if everything was collapsing, but a season is bound to have highs and lows. “We are in good physical shape at the moment and that will be the most important element in the second half of the season, especially as the fixture list gets packed.” Alvaro Morata was given a rare start alongside Carlos Tevez. “In my view Morata has extraordinary technique. He arrived from a huge club like Real Madrid, but didn’t play much there, so this is a very different season for him. “Usually he plays for the goal, but tonight we saw him play to create chances for others too. He needs to be a little less frenetic and also realise that he has to be in a game for over 90 minutes.” Allegri also had advice for Paul Pogba, who was on target again this evening. “We treat Pogba like a veteran, but he’s still very young. I often tell him to understand which zone of the field he can do certain things, as occasionally he goes a bit over the top. Tonight he played a great game. “In order to win the Ballon d’Or you tend to need the Champions League or a major international trophy. He certainly has what it takes to achieve that.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  11. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati JUVENTUS V HELLAS VERONA PLAYER RATINGS – WEEK 19 Jan 18, 2014 Juventus put in a near-perfect performance to brush aside Hellas Verona, 4-0 with Carlos Tevez scoring a brace. Paul Pogba opened the scoring with a pile driver from distance that bounced in front of Rafael, giving the keeper no chance. It was Pogba again just minutes later as he dummied the ball to leave Carlos Tevez to score with a first time finish. Juve pushed on in the second half and it was Giorgio Chiellini’s assist that set up Roberto Pereyra to deftly fire past Rafael before Claudio Marchisio set up Carlos Tevez who nutmegged the keeper to score Juve’s fourth and his second of the night. Gianluigi Buffon 6.0 - Only had one save to make the entire evening and that was straight at him. Made a grab late on to deny Hellas a tap-in but untroubled for much of the game. Martin Caceres 6.5 - Provided a decent cross or two, solid in defence and could have scored a goal himself. Solid. Leonardo Bonucci 6.5 - Kept Luca Toni quiet all match, made some easy headed clearances and was composed and confident throughout. Giorgio Chiellini 6.5 - Galloped forward at every chance, made a perfect interception when Hellas could have countered and even managed to provide an assist. King Kong. Patrice Evra 6.0 - Solid, if not spectacular. Barely troubled down the left flank, made a few runs into the Hellas half and had a chance to score which he should have taken. Claudio Marchisio 6.5 - An engine in midfield, passed, tackled and did a decent impersonation of Arturo Vidal before providing a perfect assist for Carlos Tevez’ second goal on the night. Andrea Pirlo 6.5 - Completed 92% of his passes on the night, kept Juve moving forward and forced a decent save from Rafael with a perfectly placed free kick. Paul Pogba 7.0 - Opened the scoring with a pile driver from distance that beat the keeper before taking control of the midfield and creating opportunities for his teammates. Roberto Pereyra 6.5 - Finally scored his first league goal with the deftest of finishes. Harried the Hellas defence and seems to be improving with each game. Carlos Tevez 7.5 - Bagged a brilliant brace that takes him to the top of the scoring charts and you have to feel he could have scored more. Ran tirelessly throughout and was easily the man of the match. Alvaro Morata 7.0 - Arguably his best performance in a Juve shirt, despite not scoring. Gave Juve something totally different up front with his runs and passing. Had 3 great chances of his own and deserved at least a goal for his efforts. 12. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Player Ratings: Juventus 4-0 Verona Jan 18, 2014 Juventus 1 G. Buffon - The veteran goalkeeper didn't have a lot of saves to make, but stayed alert to maintain command of his penalty area. 4 M. Cáceres - Always alert to track back and cover in behind his central defenders when asked and also stayed wide to stretch play. 19 L. Bonucci - A comfortable outing for the central defender, as Toni rarely received any service. Cut out a late cross from the left. 3 G. Chiellini - Provided an assist for Pereyra's goal after a brilliant run from deep, as well as being defensively solid. 33 P. Evra - Combined well with Pogba down the left-hand side at times, but didn't have a final ball. 8 C. Marchisio - Kept the ball moving and slid an incisive pass into the penalty area to provide Tevez with the chance to net his second goal. 21 A. Pirlo - Sat in front of the back four and stroked the ball around simply, as well as going close with a first-half free kick. 6 Paul Pogba - Gave his side the lead with a fantastic long-range effort and looked effortlessly comfortable on the ball. 37 R. Pereyra - Slammed a brilliant finish inside the near post for Juve's third goal and constantly drove from deep and fed Tevez. 10 C. Tévez - Netted two goals in a comfortable win and offered plenty of selfless running to help Rafael have a torrid time in the Verona net. 9 Álvaro Morata - Full of running and linked up fairly well with Tevez, but was guilty of a couple of poor decisions. Substitutes 7 S. Pepe - Returned to a good reception and was full of running. 20 S. Padoin - Given the last 10 minutes to freshen up the midfield. 12 S. Giovinco - Penetrated a few good spaces late on but wasn't given good service. Hellas Verona 1 Rafael - Beaten too easily at his near post at times and made a few reasonable saves. 4 R. Márquez - Stepped out to make a couple of good interceptions, but otherwise struggled against Juve's pace and movement. 25 R. Marques - Morata and Tevez had far too much freedom, with the Verona back three struggling to know when to step out and when to stand firm. 2 G. Rodríguez - Made a few timely interceptions and tackles deep within his own penalty area, but was generally quite scrappy. 28 D. Brivio - Whipped in plenty of crosses from the left-hand side, but they were rarely good enough to trouble both the back four and Buffon. 71 I. Martic - Wasn't given much of the ball in wide areas to deliver crosses and struggled with Evra and Pogba doubling up on him. 26 J. Sala - Offered very little in midfield other than trying to protect his zone and keep the side's shape. Substituted on the hour mark. 77 P. Tachtsidis - Battled in the centre of midfield but was unable to do anything other than attempt to compete. 20 L. Christodoulopoulos - Positive with his running, getting a couple of shots on target and giving his defence some respite as a result. 19 L. Greco - Didn't see enough of the ball to have anything of an effect and his only second-half contribution was a yellow card. 9 L. Toni - Very isolated for long periods and only received a ball to his upper body on two occasions. Struggled to get into the game. Substitutes 10 E. Hallfreðsson - Was merely fresh legs in a midfield that didn't string together any meaningful passages of play. 27 M. Valoti 7 J. Saviola - Had a couple of late forays forward, but was either denied by Caceres or a poor ball from out wide. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  13. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Player Ratings: Juventus 4-0 Hellas Verona Jan 18, 2014 Juventus dismantled a limp Hellas Verona side on Sunday evening as a 4-0 home victory sent the Bianconeri five points clear at the top of Serie A. Early goals by Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez set the tone for total domination which continued throughout the 90 minutes at the Juventus Stadium. Tevez bagged another in the second half and Robert Pereyra netted his first goal of the season, as the Gialloblu were put to the sword by Massimiliano Allegri’s rampant side. Juventus Gianluigi Buffon – 6 – Spectator - Caught nothing more than a cold on this brisk Turin evening, as Verona failed to trouble the Italy number one. Martin Caceres – 6.5- Efficient - Took advantage of a weak opponent to get involved in the attack as well as carrying out his defensive duties perfectly. Leonardo Bonucci – 6 – Adequate - Could have stayed in the dressing room and left his team mate Giorgio Chiellini to deal with the Verona attack. Did little because he had little to do. Giorgio Chiellini – 7 – Towering - Verona may not have given the Juve back line too many worries but Chiellini was equal to whatever they did throw at them. Took the chance to get forward as much as possible and looked as though he enjoyed himself, setting up the Pereyra goal. Patrice Evra – 6 – Timid - Expected more in terms of going forward from the ex-Manchester United full back who was more content sitting deep. Claudio Marchisio – 6.5 – Confident - Stifled the Verona midfield and broke forward joining the forwards as much as he could. Good performance from the ‘Principino’. Andrea Pirlo – 6 – Controlled - Probably not one of his finest efforts which was more to do with the lack of necessity as opposed to a below-par performance from the legendary play-maker. PAUL POGBA – 8 – Extra-Terrestrial - Incredible run of form for the young French superstar. Scored and dummied an assist for Tevez’s first goal and was just about unplayable. Is there a better all round football player on the planet right now? Roberto Pereyra – 7.5 – Crucial - Replaced the big boots of Arturo Vidal magnificently and is tactically tuned in to the Juve system despite his sporadic use. Excellent evening’s work for the Udinese-owned, midfielder capped by a brilliant goal. Carlos Tevez – 7.5 – Deadly - Great strike to double the lead and was his usual busy self. Difficult to contain when he is in this type of mood and deserved to score his second given his efforts on the night. Alvaro Morata – 7 – Decisive - Had a hand in both early goals. Offers so much more than compatriot Fernando Llorente right now and Allegri made right decision to start the youngster. Was superb throughout the match, shame he couldn’t find the net. Substitutes Simone Pepe (76 mins) – N/A Simone Padoin (78 mins) – N/A Sebastian Giovinco (84 mins) – N/A Hellas Verona Rafael – 6 – Inculpable - Busy evening for the Gialloblu custodian. Had little chance with the goals and can feel short-changed by the help offered up by his defence. Rafael Marquez – 5 – Desperate - Couldn’t get a handle on either Tevez or Morata who worked hard along the defensive line. Poor from the experienced Mexican. Marques – 5 – Uncertain - Similar to the rest of the Verona defence, just had no answer to the quick movement of the Juventus forwards and the late runs of the midfield. Guillermo Rodriguez – 4.5 – Woeful - Was terrible all evening, particularly struggled with the Juventus midfield players joining the attacks. A night to forget for the Uruguayan. Davide Brivio – 5.5 – Fearful - Little threat down the left, had more concerns with defending and did not look comfortable all evening. Ivan Martic – 5.5 – Weak - Offered some attack on the right hand side but got little change from Patrice Evra – which says it all really. Jacopo Sala – 5 – Sloppy - Wasteful on the ball but swamped by the quality of the Juventus players around him. Out of his depth. Panagiotis Tachtsidis – 4.5 – Invisible - Almost non-existent which is a shame given his undoubted qualities. Certainly his coach would have expected more from the Greek star. Lazaros Christodoulopoulos – 5 – Lazy - Looked weak and lethargic, failed to make much impact though he wasn’t alone in that respect. Just another shocking player in yellow. Leandro Greco – 5.5 – Insufficient - Tried to bring some quality to proceedings, but wasn’t his night. Luca Toni – 5 – Distant - Spent more time in his own penalty box defending corners than in the Juventus area. Small contribution from the big centre forward. Substitutes Javier Saviola (63 mins) – 5 – Nothing Emil Hallfredsson (76 mins) – N/A Mattia Valoti (87 mins) – N/A http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  14. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati JUVENTUS 4 – 0 HELLAS VERONA MATCH REVIEW Jan 18, 2014 Everything is going as planned. Days after a 6-1 throttling of Verona in the Coppa Italia, Juventus again beat Verona. This time the home team won 4-0. As unfortunate as it was for Verona to have to play two straight games in Juventus Stadium, Juve took advantage of it and scored 10 games in two matches. Even better, today Juve took the lead very early and were able to cruise throughout the rest of the match. Literally two minutes into the game Paul Pogba scored with a traditional “Pogboom” blast from outside of Verona’s 18 yard box. Five minutes later, Carlos Tevez scored a goal, which was assisted by Pogba. Pogba did a nice little move where he spun and passed to Tevez with his first touch, Tevez of course finished the chance. To put this into perspective, the game hadn’t even begun airing in the United States. The game was delayed ten minutes for a Barcelona game, and in that ten minutes the game was decided. Thank the Old Lady for internet streams, I suppose. Regardless, it was a perfect start for Juventus. From there Juventus were completely in control. There weren’t really any dangerous Verona chances either. At the 17th minute, a poor Andrea Pirlo pass did end up at sparking a Verona counter, but nothing came of it. Luca Toni’s finish ending up skating just past Gigi Buffon and the goal, wide right. Two Juve players seemed to be constantly threatening to score today but ultimately came up short: Claudio Marchisio and Alvaro Morata. Both players had fine games, but neither scored despite having a decent of opportunities to do so. Morata did very well playing as a target man, but at certain times he seemed more willing to pass to Tevez than to take a shot. For example, in the 57th minute he made a fantastic run into Verona’s 18 yard box, heading towards the goal at a dangerous diagonal angle. It seemed natural for him to try and finish the chance, but he forced a strong cross to Tevez. Tevez headed the ball, but it was an awkward cross and the header went wide. Morata was phenomenal today at everything but finishing, which was rather odd as he’s not known for being a poor finisher, or afraid to shoot. Minutes later Roberto Pereyra scored Juve’s third goal. This was notable because it was both Pereyra’s first Serie A goal of the season and it was assisted by a BEAUTIFUL through ball from Giorgio Chiellini. I usually complain about Chiellini’s attacking efforts, but it seems he has been taking passing lessons from Andrea Pirlo. Nine minutes later and Carlos Tevez scored another goal to finish up Juve’s scoring. Though nobody told that to Sebastian Giovinco, who came on for Tevez a bit later. Giovinco took a shot with his first touch of the game and forced a save from quite a distance. That was all though. The future Toronto FC man wasn’t able to repeat his heroics from the Coppa game versus Verona. It was a fine result against a mediocre Serie A side. Still, you win the Scudetto against the provinciale, and now Juventus are five points ahead of Roma. Roma drew Palermo yesterday, and it looks like Juventus could be ready to widen that gap through the month of February. The two sides meet at the beginning of March, in what will likely be the last chance for the Scudetto race to remain close. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  15. Tevez 'won't lie' about Boca option Jan 18, 2015 Carlos Tevez said he feels at home at Juventus, but is open to a Boca Juniors return. “I don’t like lying to people.” The striker spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 4-0 drubbing of Hellas Verona, in which he scored a brace. “The best news is that we look like a real team with quality, hard work and results. It’s important for us to prove we are 23 players and not just 11, as we all work for the same objective. “Every day Pogba impresses me! He’s a phenomenon who surprises you every day and it only depends on him now how far he can go. “We have a great chance of making history in the Champions League with Juventus, but now we are focused on Serie A and want to do well in all competitions. “We all dream of the Champions League: players, fans and club. With the squad at our disposal, it is possible and we’ll see what happens.” This week Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici again declared Tevez plans to come back in 2016. “At this moment I am not thinking of a contract renewal. I am simply not thinking about it,” explained Apache. “I don’t like lying to people, so I don’t want to sign a five-year contract with Juve and then risk not seeing it through. “Of course I could change my mind, as I feel at home here at Juve. I haven’t made any decisions yet for the future. I just said it was a thought of going back to Boca, but not right now.”
  16. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Carlos Tevez double takes Juventus five points clear atop Serie A table Jan 18, 2014 Carlos Tevez scored twice as Juventus moved five points clear at the top of Serie A with a 4-0 win over Hellas Verona. Goals from Paul Pogba and Tevez inside the first 10 minutes put Juve in total control, though they had to wait until the second half for Roberto Pereyra to add the third before Tevez completed the job. With second-placed Roma held by Palermo on Saturday, the result gave Massimiliano Allegri's side a comfortable advantage at the summit. The opener came in only the third minute as Alvaro Morata laid the ball back and Pogba finished low from 25 yards, with the ball taking an awkward bounce in front of goalkeeper Rafael. Pogba then dummied Morata's deflected cross for Tevez to calmly sweep in from 16 yards and give the Old Lady a 2-0 lead with only seven minutes on the clock. Andrea Pirlo went close to a third when a languid free-kick was hurriedly tipped over by Rafael. Luca Toni dragged a shot across the face of goal at the other end, with a sliding Ivan Martic just unable to keep the ball in play and the chance alive. Rafael Marques did well to clear behind after Guillermo Rodriguez's error allowed Claudio Marchisio in along the byline. Patrice Evra headed Pirlo's corner over. Martin Caceres dragged a shot wide on the turn after the wall blocked Pirlo's free-kick, and Pogba's curler was beaten away by Rafael as Juve somehow reached halftime without adding to their lead. They remained on the front foot early in the second period but Pirlo and Morata were off target from range and Tevez headed wide when well-placed. Lazaros Christodoulopoulos forced the first save from home keeper Gianluigi Buffon with a low right-footed drive but Juve soon had their third. Defender Giorgio Chiellini was the unlikely provider with a perfectly weighted through-ball which Pereyra ran on to and stroked past Rafael. Juve were not finished, and eight minutes later, Marchisio slid a neat pass into Tevez who turned, set himself and side-footed through the legs of Rafael at the near post. Substitutes Sebastian Giovinco and Simone Pepe were both denied and Chiellini shot wide, while Emil Hallfredsson fired over as Verona remained scoreless. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  17. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Juventus 4-0 Hellas Verona: Old Lady Continue Demolition Of Mastini Jan 18, 2014 Juventus followed their massive 6-1 Coppa Italia victory on Thursday with another commanding win against Hellas Verona in Sunday night’s Serie A match at the Juventus Stadium that finished 4-0. A double from Carlos Tevez was complimented by a Paul Pogba long-ranger and another from Roberto Pereyra as the Old Lady confirmed themselves as Serie A’s Winter Champions. The home side were merciless in attack in the opening minutes of the match, and were celebrating their first goal in just three minutes when Pogba smacked in a venomous shot from outside the area that dipped out of reach for the sprawling Rafael. Only a few minutes later the Old Lady would be dancing together once again after Carlos Tevez pounced on a loose ball inside the 18-yard-box and found the back of the net. As the home side kept their strangle hold, the Gialloblu began resorting to rough tackles that gifted Juventus a free kick near the 12-minute mark. The subsequent kick was dangerously swerved in by Andrea Pirlo, but Rafael did well to parry away the danger. The Sao Paulo native was on his toes yet again following another clumsy foul by his side, and confidently grabbed a header from Martin Caceres who met Pirlo’s excellent cross on the set piece. Hellas Verona struggled to generate in the attack but were able to answer the two goal deficit when Luca Toni won possession in midfield and eventually found enough space to fire a shot that rolled wide of Gianluigi Buffon’s net. Just after the half hour, the visitors were guilty of conceding yet another free kick in Pirlo territory, from which the Italian opted to shoot under the wall but had his effort blocked. Martin Caceres was quick to strike the rebound through the crowd of legs but it went just wide of the far post. The Bianconeri went into the break with over 60 percent of the possession and five shots on target following a brilliant first half display. At the return whistle the home side were buoyed by their passionate fans to create many more scoring chances, with Alvaro Morata, Claudio Marchisio, and Carlos Tevez all getting good sniffs at goal but were unable to hit the target. Lazaros Christodoulopoulos had been shut down for a majority of the match but looked likely to put his team on the scoreboard in the 60th minute, but the Greek let his finesse shot roll straight to Buffon much to the agony of Andrea Mandorlini on the sideline. The moment proved to be costly as Juventus netted their third goal after Giorgio Chiellini joined the attack and sent Roberto Pereyra into the box to convert. Carlos Tevez supplied a second nail into the coffin for the Gialloblu with a superb turn inside the area after picking up Marchisio’s pass and scoring between Rafael’s legs with 15-minutes remaining. With the brace, the Argentine now leads the league with 13 goals in his 17 appearances. The match could prove to be vital to the Scudetto race, as Juventus are now five points ahead of second place Roma, who fought back for a draw away to Palermo on Saturday. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111

  20. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Juventus beat Hellas Verona to extend lead at the top of Serie A Jan 18, 2014 Goals from Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez and Roberto Pereyra earned Juventus a 4-0 victory over Hellas Verona in Serie A this evening. The win at the Juventus Stadium ensured that Massimiliano Allegri and his side now hold a five-point gap at the top of the table over second-placed Roma. The home side opened the scoring after only three minutes when France international Pogba bulleted in an effort from distance, which flew into the bottom-right corner past a helpless Rafael. The Old Lady were able to further extend their advantage just four minutes later, this time as Tevez finished coolly with his right into the bottom corner. The home side looked in imperious form and it took some good work from Rafael to deny Andrea Pirlo from range, before Martin Caceres also headed straight at the keeper. Verona might have pulled one back just before the end of the half, only for veteran frontman Luca Toni to fire wide despite having found himself with some space inside the area. Giorgio Chiellini was the architect for Juve's third, the defender slipping a delightful through-ball into the path of Pereyra, who made no mistake with an adroit finish past Rafael in the 66th minute. Allegri's men continued to push forward despite the game already being sealed, leaving Tevez to bag a brace in the 74th minute when he collected from Claudio Marchisio to covert regardless of the difficult angle. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
  21. Juve on Pogba and Giovinco Jan 18, 2015 Beppe Marotta denied knowledge of Sebastian Giovinco’s Toronto FC move and said Paul Pogba is “resisting” big offers. The general manager spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of tonight’s Serie A match against Verona. “We are accustomed to putting together a squad during the summer. We are not in any emergency situation, so there’s no need to sign anyone in January. “Of course if a good opportunity was to present itself, then we would take it, but at the moment I don’t see any.” There are strong reports in Canada that Giovinco has already agreed a contract with Toronto FC for June, when he’ll be a free agent. “We are not aware of these negotiations, either officially or off the record.” This week Pogba’s agent said Juventus would struggle to keep hold of him for long and Marotta confessed there is some truth to that. “A positive transfer strategy also means not bowing down to the proposals of huge clubs. Pogba is sought-after, but he has resisted and will try to resist. Our intention is to buy important players and not sell them. “As of today there is nothing to suggest Pogba will go to another club, but we cannot compete with the wages that are being proposed. We have certain financial goalposts. “Paris Saint-Germain? No, there hasn’t been any contact.”
  22. JUVENTUS - HELLAS VERONA 4 - 0 Paul Pogba (3') Carlos Tévez (7') Roberto Pereyra (66') Carlos Tévez (74') Sunday, January 18th, 2015 - 20:45 PM Juventus Stadium, Turin Referee: Massimiliano Irrati Four-star Juve go five clear Carlos Tevez bagged a brace as Juventus crushed Verona 4-0 and extended a five-point lead over Roma at the top. Jan 18, 2014 These sides met just 72 hours previously in the Coppa Italia, Juve emerging 6-1 winners in Turin. Both teams rotated for that Round of 16 tie, but Arturo Vidal was out with tonsillitis, joining Andrea Barzagli, Angelo Ogbonna, Kwadwo Asamoah and Romulo on the treatment table. Verona welcomed back Luca Toni, but Artur Ionita, Mounir Obbadi, Vangelis Moras, Bosko Jankovic and Juanito Gomez Taleb missed out. Verona had never won here in Serie A, managing just four draws and 21 defeats. It took just 160 seconds to break the deadlock, as Paul Pogba unleashed a screamer from distance that bounced just in front of Rafael. It was like Thursday all over again, as Pogba’s dummy allowed a deflected Alvaro Morata cross through and Carlos Tevez smashed in the first time finish from 12 yards. Rafael palmed an Andrea Pirlo free kick out from under the bar, while Panagiotis Tachtsidis failed to make the most of a Toni cross-shot to the back post. Pirlo tried to put his free kick under the wall, but Martin Caceres turned the ricochet inches wide. Rafael then flew to palm a Pogba curler out from the far top corner. It should’ve been 3-0 after the restart on the counter, but Claudio Marchisio drilled wide and Morata’s assist was over-hit so Tevez could only nod off target. Giorgio Chiellini threaded through for Roberto Pereyra down the left, who side-footed the ball into the far top corner with power and accuracy. He had also scored in the Coppa on Thursday and this was his first Serie A goal in a Juventus jersey. Marchisio picked the right pass for Tevez, who nutmegged the goalkeeper at the near post for his second of the game. Sebastian Giovinco came off the bench and with his first touch forced a save from distance. Jan 18, 2014 Carlos Tevez scored twice as Juventus recorded another resounding win over Verona to go five points clear at the top of Serie A. Massimiliano Allegri's men obliterated the same opposition 6-1 in the Coppa Italia on Thursday and Juve were utterly dominant once again, making the most of Roma's 1-1 draw at Palermo on Saturday to extend their lead at the summit. Paul Pogba got the hosts off to a fine start with an excellent long-range drive after just three minutes and Tevez swiftly doubled their advantage, leaving Verona with a huge task on their hands. Juve had drawn each of their last two home games in Serie A, but the defending champions never looked in danger of making it three in a row as Andrea Pirlo, Martin Caceres and Alvaro Morata all went close. But it was midfielder Roberto Pereyra, starting in place of the ill Arturo Vidal, who eventually put Juve 3-0 up, confidently dispatching with 24 minutes to go before Tevez doubled his tally eight minutes later. Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini had urged his team to claim vengeance for the midweek thrashing, but it appeared to be another case of damage limitation after slipping 2-0 down after just seven minutes. Pogba broke the deadlock in the third minute, finding the bottom-right corner with an unstoppable strike from 30 yards. Fresh from scoring against Verona for the second time in four days, Pogba was then involved in Juve's second goal four minutes later, but on this occasion the France international allowed Caceres' low cross to run, with Tevez on hand to steer home emphatically. Things almost got even worse for the visitors in the 12th minute, although goalkeeper Rafael was able to tip a Pirlo free kick around the post. Juve were in absolute control and again went close nine minutes before half-time, as Caceres dragged an effort agonisingly wide after Pirlo saw a free-kick blocked. The second half continued in a similar vein and Morata tried his luck with 50 minutes on the clock, narrowly missing the bottom-left corner from 30 yards. Juve looked destined to finally add a third on the counterattack a few minutes later, but Morata hammered a cross at the unmarked Tevez, giving the Argentinian little chance of bringing it under control. It was 3-0 in the 66th minute when Pereyra, who also netted against Verona on Thursday, raced on to an incisive Giorgio Chiellini pass and coolly stroked into the roof of the net. Tevez then scored his second of the game and 13th Serie A goal of the season with 16 minutes to go, charging past a couple of defenders before beating Rafael from an acute angle, wrapping up an easy win for the champions. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111
