  2. Corioni: I would bring Pirlo back to Brescia Aug 10, 2013 Brescia president Luigi Corioni has stated hat he would welcome Juventus star Andrea Pirlo back to the Rondinelle if given the chance. The 34-year-old Italian international wants to extend his contract with the Bianconeri, but has opened the door to a possible exit if the club don’t view him as indispensable. Corioni was responsible for letting Italian legend Roberto Baggio finish his footballing career at Brescia and he would consider doing something similar for Pirlo. http://markting10.nl/ “Just like I did with Baggio at the end of his career I would bring Pirlo back to Brescia,” Corioni told itasportpress.it. “But it is difficult because Andrea will not stop before he is 40-years-old.” Pirlo joined Juventus in 2011 and is entering the final year of his contract with the Bianconeri. A move to Brescia would mean a return to his hometown club. Pirlo was a product of the Rondinelle’s youth system and played for the senior squad from 1995 to 1998.
  3. Pirlo pledges future to Juventus The 34-year-old has gone back on claims that he could leave the club next summer, saying he hopes to finish his playing career with the Bianconeri. Aug 9, 2013 Andrea Pirlo has pledged his future to Juventus, stating he hopes to play in Turin for the remainder of his career. On Thursday, the Italy midfielder hinted at a possible exit from the club, saying it is far from a certainty that he will remain with the club when his contract expires in June 2014 and that he will only do so if he still feels like a valuable member of the squad. Pirlo went back on those statements on Friday, however, saying his ambitions are clear and they all revolve around his future with the Bianconeri. "There is only one objective, to win, and to do so we will have to give our all," the 34-year-old told the team’s official website. "We’re working really hard to be fully fit and raring to go for the start of the new season. "Only once, during the 1930s, have Juventus ever won three Scudetto titles in a row, and so that opportunity to make history is an even greater incentive for us to do our best. "The club are very ambitious and I hope to see out my career here. This team are my priority." http://markting10.nl/ The former AC Milan star joined Juventus in July 2011 and has since won consecutive Serie A titles, a trend he hopes to continue in the years to come. Pirlo added: "With Napoli, Milan, Inter, Roma, and Fiorentina there is going to be a lot of good football played this year and it’s going to be hard work for us. "Those teams have invested well in some great champions and I believe that that’s a sign of a renaissance for Italian football: it’s returning to its past glory. "When you don’t win it’s normal that people might be concerned, but we’re confident that we’re training well and doing all that we can to reach full fitness. "When you lift two consecutive league trophies, people might think it’s going to be easy to do it again a third time. In fact, it requires even more concentration, because everyone will want to beat Juventus."
  4. Pirlo hints at Juventus exit The midfielder has revealed that he could be on the move next summer if he no longer feels valued at the Serie A champions. Aug 8, 2013 Andrea Pirlo has admitted that he could leave Juventus at the end of the 2013-14 campaign if he no longer feels important to the team. The 34-year-old, who joined Juve from AC Milan in the summer of 2011, has a contract with the Old Lady until June 2014, but has stressed it is by no means a certainty that he will ink a new deal with his current club. "I’ll certainly play on, we’ll just have to see where," Pirlo told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. http://markting10.nl/ "I’ve already spoken to the club and we’ll meet again at the end of the season. Juve are my priority, but I don’t want to be a weight for anybody. The years go by, but it is not written that I have to stay here just because I am called Pirlo. "I want to feel important and a part of the side’s success, otherwise I’ll leave. If I had to change, perhaps I’ll go abroad. I’ll certainly continue playing for a high-level team." The Italy international then revealed that he is in regular touch with Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, but added that he has not received an offer from the Spanish giants. "I’ve spoken with my agent and with Ancelotti, someone who I regularly talk to, but nobody has offered me the chance to join Real." Pirlo made 32 Serie A starts for the Italian champions last season as they secured back-to-back Scudetto titles under Antonio Conte.
  5. No changes to Week 1 fixtures Aug 9, 2013 Verona-Milan and Sampdoria-Juventus will kick off at the times originally released after some confusion on Friday. Sampdoria today posted a note on their website suggesting that their game versus Juve would start at 18.00 local time and not 20.45 as previously thought. http://markting10.nl/ As a consequence, reports suggested that the Diavolo’s match at the Bentegodi would begin at 20.45 instead of 18.00. However, Sampdoria have now corrected the error so Verona-Milan will still be the first game of the new season. Samp-Juve will follow on Saturday 24 August.
  6. Spain select ‘Italian’ trio Aug 9, 2013 Pepe Reina, Raul Albiol and Fernando Llorente have been included in the Spain squad for their friendly with Ecuador next week. The trio all moved to Serie A this summer when Napoli swooped for the first two players from Liverpool and Real Madrid respectively, while the latter joined Juventus from Athletic Bilbao. http://markting10.nl/ Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Pepe Reina (Napoli), Victor Valdes (Barcelona). Defenders: Alvaro Arbeloa (Real Madrid), Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), Javi Martinez (Bayern Munich), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Raul Albiol (Napoli), Jordi Alba (Barcelona). Midfielders: Santi Cazorla (Arsenal), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona), Jesus Navas (Manchester City), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich). Forwards: David Silva (Manchester City), Isco (Real Madrid), Alvaro Negredo (Manchester City), Cristian Tello (Barcelona), Fernando Llorente (Juventus).
  7. Pirlo wants Juve extension, but… Aug 9, 2013 Andrea Pirlo says he is ready to end his career at Juventus so long as he continues to be a key part of the project. The playmaker, now 34, will be out of contract at the end of the season following his Bosman free transfer from Milan in 2011. “I’ll certainly play on, we’ll just have to see where,” he told the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport on Friday. “I’ve already spoken to the club and we’ll meet again at the end of the season. “Juve are my priority, but I don’t want to be a weight for anybody. The years go by, but it is not written that I have to stay here just because I am called Pirlo. “I want to feel important and a part of the side’s success, otherwise I’ll leave. But I want to underline that it won’t be a problem about money or choosing between one club and another. “If I had to change, perhaps I’ll go abroad. I’ll certainly continue playing for a high level team.” Pirlo has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid this summer, but he’s shot down that suggestion. “I’ve spoken with my agent and Real boss Carlo Ancelotti, someone who I regularly talk to,” he admitted. “But nobody has offered me the chance to join Real…” http://markting10.nl/ Pirlo has been a decisive figure in the Old Lady’s last two Scudetti and he has his eyes on a hat-trick of League championships despite their struggles in pre-season. “There is nothing to worry about, we are working hard,” the Italian international added. “We’ve had problems during the summer in previous seasons too, but then we changed gear. “I’m not concerned in the slightest ahead of the Italian Super Cup or the championship.” Juventus boss Antonio Conte and goalkeeper Gigi Buffon have both spoken about the dangers of over confidence after their success over the past 24 months. “After two successive titles, you need to play more with your heads and with more desire. Gigi added a bit of pepper to warn the squad. “If you are Juventus then you always have the desire to win – that is natural. And we want to continue doing that. “Conte has made us aware that it will be tough, he’s reminded us that – apart from the Juve side of the 1930s – this club has never won three League titles in succession. We want to become part of this club’s history. “Scudetto rivals? There are a lot of clubs who have been built well – Napoli, Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina.”
  8. Tevez has new targets – Nedved Aug 9, 2013 Juventus director Pavel Nedved has no concerns about the hunger of Carlos Tevez after the forward’s admission that he had considered retirement. The Argentine striker this week stated that he would have perhaps hung up his boots had the Old Lady not done a deal with Manchester City this summer. “We talked to Carlos a long time ago,” the former Bianconero midfielder commented. “He still has a lot of desire to play football and to do well. “You can see that enthusiasm in the way he has been training with us. http://markting10.nl/ “Great players, once they have won a lot, need new motivation, new targets and I am happy that he has arrived. “He instantly demonstrated that he wanted to join us and I liked that a lot.” The 29-year-old, also formerly of Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham and Manchester United, signed a three-year contract this summer. He has been handed the No 10 shirt in Turin and will thus become the first player to wear that jersey since Alex Del Piero left last year.
  9. Can Juventus Win It All This Season? Aug 8, 2013 Juventus showed under the 2012-13 Serie A season that they are a long way ahead of their domestic rivals. Now it is up to Antonio Conte and his renewed squad to set their sights a little higher. But with clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich firmly settled at the top both financially and in terms of playing staff, do the Old Lady have what it takes to move from a dominant domestic force to a team that can seriously challenge for European and world honours over the next 12 months? Fans of the Turin giants will be encouraged by what they saw last season. The year had every chance of going wrong. The lack of a coach at the start of the year, due to Conte's lengthy suspension for involvement in the Scommessopoli betting scandal, was a particularly poor omen. But the club rode out the storm and finished the Serie A campaign in imperious fashion. Juve harvested 87 points over the course of the season, losing just five times and ending the league nine points clear of closest challengers Napoli. And the good news for supporters of the Bianconeri is that their side should be even stronger in 2013-14. In goal, Gianluigi Buffon has proved time and again that he is still a top-quality goalkeeper at 35 years of age. The captain is an undisputed starter in Juve's full strength lineup, but deputy Marco Storari proved that he is more than capable of filling in for Gigi when the veteran needs a rest. In front of Buffon, the defence is another unit that has a formidable look to it. Conte is one of the few coaches in top-class teams to use a three-man defence, and this risky manoeuvre is made more secure by the fact that the trio who comprise the back line are a machine working perfectly in tandem. Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini enjoy an almost telepathic understanding, and their talents were reflected in the 24 goals Juventus conceded across the whole Serie A season, the lowest of any team by far. The man between the posts and those in front, then, do not need tinkering. The midfield is fine too, with the ageless Andrea Pirlo, the tireless duo of Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal and the budding talent of Paul Pogba providing quality in the middle of the park. The big issue for Juventus last season was getting the most out of an at-times misfiring forward line. A 1-0 or 2-1 scoreline was the norm last year in Juventus Stadium, and it was largely thanks to the aforementioned impenetrable defence that the club won the league so comfortably with, averaging a stingy 1.87 goals—compare to 3.3 for Barcelona, 2.88 for Bayern Munich and 2.71 for Real Madrid—per game. Sebastian Giovinco and Mirko Vucinic had their moments, although the former suffered with recurring injuries and the latter went through inexplicable drops in form. http://markting10.nl/ In any case, no Juve man made the top 16 scorers in Serie A; and the less we say about the likes of the calamitous Alessandro Matri the better, perhaps. Conte has responded by focusing preseason spending on the attack. In come Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, two strikers of the highest calibre accustomed to scoring goals in high-pressure situations. It remains to be seen, of course, how the pair settle in to life at Juventus Stadium, but great things are expected both of the new boys and of the Old Lady. Tevez and Llorente are the big new names in the dressing room, but aside from that, Juve have done admirably up to this point to conserve the squad that lifted the title in 2012-13, and indeed make it stronger. It will not be easy for any new team to lift the Champions League come May 2014, but Conte's men in black and white have as much of a chance as anyone participating.
  10. Preseason reason to worry? Aug 8, 2013 Preseason results have not been kind. Juventus have struggled to perform adequately while racking up several defeats, finishing last in the International Champions Cup after Tuesday's loss to Inter on penalties in Miami. Suffering from an abundance of individual errors, the Bianconeri's build-up game is both slow and imprecise. Passes are too short, movements are not well-thought and possession is lost much too easily. The glitzy new attack fans have been desperate to see has yet to perform to expectation. The midfield has failed in making the right runs forward, often gave up possession and lost focus at important moments. Meanwhile, the defence has proved problematic, if not as bad as other Italian squads during preseason. The majority of goals conceded during these friendlies have been a result of individual errors. Of course, these matches count for little and are simply played to grasp the tactical ideas of the coach as well as improve chemistry and fitness. As such, one can understand the lack of interest displayed by certain players, the fatigue of the international ones who only recently returned to train and the mistakes committed by the new arrivals. In assessing them one by one, new centre back Angelo Ogbonna has impressed with his physicality and tenacity. However, there is much he can learn with regards to tactics and composure. Easily overwhelmed, certain movements of his are rushed leading to several errors. He has often been caught either out of position or ball-watching and will need time to adapt to manager Antonio Conte's tactics. Carlos Tevez has proved exciting with regards to his movements. Consistently roaming whilst demonstrating his low centre of gravity and deceptive physicality, he knows just how to bully defenders. The problem is that playing him with Mirko Vucinic Tuesday left Juventus with lots of movement in the final third but no decisive action. Consistently lost amidst Inter’s defensive force, there was no real target to look for when passes were delivered to the top, while the midfield’s disinterest in making timely runs forward left the front two without the required help. With so much running, fatigue has set in for the Argentine, who admitted he’s never been asked to train so hard. Physical fitness is of the utmost importance at this stage and Conte is sure the player possesses all the qualities needed going forward. http://markting10.nl/ Physically, Fernando Llorente is not at the level required to make the necessary impact. Having barely played last season and forced to cope with the exhaustive physical demands of preseason, he has yet to score goals to delight onlookers. Often failing to exploit good opportunities, the lack of efficient wide play has also hindered his performances. One can only be hopeful that Llorente will improve, but deep down there is that ever so slight worry that much like several Spaniards before him, he will fail in overcoming the Serie A sides’ defensive organisation. Another concern is the apparent indifference of the squad. The cusomary Juve hunger and will to succeed has been replaced by lethargy and disinterest. It’s often said that Italians never perform unless they have to and we have seen evidence of that both with Juventus and the Italian national team. Friendlies inspire few Italians but when the time comes, Italy usually delivers. Last season, the Bianconeri started successfully but they lacked that desire to succeed. Only the minimum level of energy was expended to achieve the necessary result. However, Juventus would do well to remember that while these games mean little, they are still a useful method of raising foreign interest and attracting new fans. Commercially, trips to America to take part in competitions such as the ICC are a source of prestige and a perfect marketing opportunity to enchant audiences and improve brand awareness. With such dismal displays, few will want to follow the team when the season kicks off and Juventus actually start to care. Conte has consistently reminded anyone who will listen that winning a third consecutive Scudetto will be difficult. Keeping that hunger alive is of the utmost importance to him. Having achieved domestic targets, Conte hopes the side haven’t lost that will to succeed. Worries exist, as they do for many other clubs who fail to impress during pre-season. Nonetheless, it’s too early to precisely judge just how competitive Juventus will be when the season kicks off. As goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon pointed out, “The results of these games don’t worry me, I would have been more worried had we been brilliant.” Well if he’s not worried ...
  11. Nedved not amused by Allegri Aug 8, 2013 Pavel Nedved has hit back at Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri’s jibe that Juventus need to get a sense of humour. “I’m always calm,” the tactician said in an interview with the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport yesterday. “It's just that Juve took one or two of my jokes a little too seriously. “Someone over there should study humour. I'm lucky enough to be from Livorno. Humour comes naturally to me.” http://markting10.nl/ Bianconero director Nedved clearly wasn’t too amused by the suggestions of the former Cagliari tactician. “Our creed here is to be winners, not be nice,” the former Juventus and Czech Republic midfielder told Sport Mediaset. “We take everything seriously here,” he added. “Being seen as pleasant is not our aim, being successful is.”
  12. Everton in talks for Marrone? Aug 8, 2013 Reports in the British Press have claimed that Everton are targeting Juventus midfielder Luca Marrone. The Sun believe that Roberto Martinez has highlighted the Bianconeri man as the ideal replacement for Marouane Fellaini. The Belgium is reportedly on his way to Manchester United, reuniting with former Coach David Moyes at Old Trafford. http://markting10.nl/ And the tabloid has insisted that the Toffees are already in talks with the Old Lady over a potential move for the 23-year-old. Marrone was used sparingly by Antonio Conte last term, playing in just 10 League games.
  13. Juve saved Tevez from retirement Aug 7, 2013 Carlos Tevez had thoughts of hanging up his boots before Juventus made him an offer this summer. The 29-year-old has joined the Italian champions from Manchester City in a move which has re-ignited his passion for the game. “There comes a moment where you get tired, you get tired of football,” the forward told ESPN in South America. “I wanted to leave football but then Juventus, one of the biggest teams in Europe, arrived. “I had always said that I would retire at the age of 28 and I was close to retiring after the row with Roberto Mancini,” he stated, referring to his September 2011 clash with the then City boss. “I spent six years in England and nobody would have given a cent for me to stay six years there… http://markting10.nl/ “I won the Champions League with United, the Premier League with United, the FA Cup with City – who hadn't won anything for a long time. I won everything.” Tevez also confirmed that his international career with Argentina, after 13 goals in 62 caps, had come to an end. “It’s over,” added the man who hasn’t been selected by Alejandro Sabello since the latter was given the job in the summer of 2011. “I have nothing more to add. I have said what I feel and that’s the end of the matter. If I say anything else then it would seem as if I’m asking for a recall. “The national side is in the past.”
  14. Buffon not worried by loss to Inter Aug 7, 2013 Gianluigi Buffon insists his Juventus side will be competitive when they face Lazio in the Italian Super Cup Final on August 18. The Old Lady’s pre-season form has been worrying and they lost 10-9 on penalties to Inter during the night after a 1-1 draw with the Nerazzurri. “The results of these games don’t worry me,” the Italian international noted. “I would have been more worried had we been brilliant… http://markting10.nl/ “Had that been the case then it would have suggested that we would have had little energy during the rest of the season. “Many of us have been training for just eight or nine days and playing an entire game, as some did, is tough because we’ve worked a great deal. “We’ll now have the time to get over the exertion of our preparation and get ourselves ready for the first official games.”
  15. Tevez: I was ready to retire before Juventus move The 29-year-old Argentina international says he felt he had achieved everything he wanted to in the game, until the Old Lady came knocking for his services. Aug 7, 2013 Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has admitted that he considered retiring from football this summer. The 29-year-old joined the Serie A champions from Manchester City in June, but revealed that a falling out with former City boss Roberto Mancini almost forced him to quit. "I always said I wanted to retire aged 28, and I was close to doing so after falling out with [Roberto] Mancini," Tevez told ESPN. "I was really tired. I had won the Champions League and the Premier League with Manchester United, and the FA Cup with Manchester City. http://markting10.nl/ "I won everything I felt I could and there was a time I had had enough of football and wanted to retire. Then Juventus came along, one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and they made me change my mind." Tevez also says that, as far as he sees it, his international career is a thing of the past, having not played for Argentina since 2011. "My career with Albiceleste has ended," he added. "I have told you all about the national team before and I have nothing else to add. It's over now and is in the past." Tevez made 62 appearances for his country between 2004 and 2011, scoring 13 times.
  16. Juventus star Pogba to sign new deal until 2018 The France international has attracted interest from a number of teams, including Real Madrid, but will sign a two-year extension with the Bianconeri. Aug 6, 2013 EXCLUSIVE By Romeo Agresti Juventus have reached an agreement with Paul Pogba over a new contract until the summer of 2018, with the French midfielder expected to sign a new deal in the coming weeks. Pogba's current contract with the Serie A champions runs until June 2016, but Juve were keen to open renewal talks as a number of big clubs - including Real Madrid - have showed an interest in signing the youngster following an impressive debut season in Italy. Pogba has revealed his ambitions at the Bianconeri, though, insisting he would love to emulate former Juve star Zinedine Zidane's success at the club. http://markting10.nl/ The former Manchester United midfielder, who left on a free transfer to go to Turin in 2012, made 27 league appearances for Juve last term, netting five goals to help them to the Serie A title. Pogba also won the Under-20 World Cup and made his full international debut with France.
  17. Marchetti: 'Lazio can beat Juve' Aug 6, 2013 Federico Marchetti is confident Lazio “can beat Juventus” in the Italian Super Cup. “We have the same spirit as last season.” The teams go head-to-head on August 18 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, as the trophy is between Serie A winners and Coppa Italia holders. “We have the same spirit as last season, the one that took us to lift the Coppa Italia,” said the goalkeeper in a Press conference. http://markting10.nl/ “Now we have to wipe everything we’ve achieved from our memories, as it would be a mistake to suddenly think we’ve become fantastic. “It will be a tough match, as they reinforced with some important buys, but we will play an open game with the conviction we can beat Juventus. I saw in the eyes of my teammates the real hunger for victory.”
  18. Llorente: Juventus must not panic The former Athletic Bilbao man has downplayed the significance of Juve's disappointing pre-season results on the back of successive defeats. Aug 5, 2013 Fernando Llorente has insisted that Juventus have no reason to panic following their poor pre-season form and has urged his team to remain calm. The Serie A champions had to settle for scoreless draws against AC Milan and Sassuolo at the Trofeo TIM earlier this summer, while they have been beaten by Everton and LA Galaxy at the International Champions Cup. Nevertheless, Llorente remains unperturbed as he feels results are irrelevant at this stage of the season and is pleased with the progress being made behind the scenes. http://markting10.nl/ "This is not the moment where results matter. Conclusions will be drawn at the end of the season," Llorente told reporters. "That's why we must remain calm and optimistic. "We are working well at the training camp and the hard work can be tiring." Juventus' 2013-14 campaign kicks off on August 18 with the Supercoppa Italiana against Lazio.
  19. Tevez: 'I haven't worked this hard...' Aug 4, 2013 Carlos Tevez admits Antonio Conte’s gruelling training regime is taking its toll at Juventus. “I haven’t worked this hard since I was at Boca Juniors.” http://markting10.nl/ The Bianconeri have stuttered in pre-season so far, losing to Everton on penalties and falling 3-1 against LA Galaxy last night. “I’m training very intensely, and it’s normal to be a bit tired. I haven’t worked this hard since I was at Boca Juniors,” the former Manchester City striker told the official Juventus website. “The objective is to be ready for the Super Cup on August 18, and games such as our clash against Galaxy are useful to help you prepare in the best possible way. “Conte also places great importance on tactics and is very well-prepared. I’m looking to pay careful attention to the systems used and apply what Conte asks of me on the field of play.” Tevez had interpersonal issues with some of his former managers, but is confident he’ll have no problems with Conte. “I’m a good person and I think that in the long run time will tell exactly what someone’s really like.”
  20. Chiellini: 'Crazy to leave Juve' Aug 4, 2013 Giorgio Chiellini feels it “would be crazy to leave Juventus now,” even for Real Madrid, as the club is really going places. The Bianconeri have won two consecutive Scudetti and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, but have reinforced with Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente. “Every summer I hear transfer stories around me or Claudio Marchisio, but a lot of it is fantasy football,” the defender told Tuttosport. http://markting10.nl/ “Beppe Marotta said clearly that this is not a selling club. Besides, it would be crazy to leave Juventus now that the project is taking off, even if Real Madrid came calling. “Just think about it, who would’ve imagined Antonio Conte winning the Scudetto in his first season? Can you remember the US pre-season tour? We really struggled in friendlies and things weren’t going well, yet we arrived ahead of schedule. Now we’ve added a few extra players, learned to know each other and are more solid.” Chiellini was asked about Real Madrid’s reported €120m offer for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale. “It’s a completely different reality and we cannot think of competing with Real Madrid or Barcelona. Let me also remind you that the club that spends the most money doesn’t always win. Just look at Borussia Dortmund. “We too can look to the future with great confidence and enthusiasm. We’ve reinforced and signed players who can help us in our growth process.” Juventus were beaten 3-1 by LA Galaxy last night, confirming their poor pre-season form with not a single victory against a big club. “Let’s just say that at Juve we run a lot without the ball in training, which isn’t so common abroad. In these two years Conte has increased the fitness work, so now we suffer less over long distances. For those who arrive, not being accustomed to certain rhythms, they do struggle.”
  21. Marotta: 'Juve sell two strikers' Aug 4, 2013 Beppe Marotta confirmed Juventus “are in the phase of removing excess players,” including two strikers. The Bianconeri are in America where they lost 3-1 to LA Galaxy in last night’s Guinness International Champions Cup game. “I will not name names, but at this moment we have six strikers. We need to be left with four,” director general Marotta told Sky Sport Italia. “We are in the phase of removing excess players from the squad.” With the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, it was always likely that players such as Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella would be pushed down the pecking order. Both players have been linked with Premier League moves to Everton, West Ham and Norwich. However, Mirko Vucinic is by no means safe either, as he is of interest to Manchester United. Marotta was also asked about the reports Reto Ziegler will move to rivals Torino. “Maybe.”
  22. Juventus confirm 'excess' striker sale Director general Giuseppe Marotta claims the club are in the process of getting rid of two forwards who are deemed surplus to requirements. Aug 4, 2013 Juventus are close to selling two strikers as they look to remove "excess players" from their squad, according to club chief Giuseppe Marotta. The Bianconeri secured the arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente earlier this summer, prompting speculation that Alessandro Matri, Fabio Quagliarella, Sebastian Giovinco or Mirko Vucinic could be sold, with the former duo linked with moves to the Premier League. Juve general director Marotta has now confirmed the Serie A champions are keen to offload two of their forwards as they look to whittle down their squad before the 2013-14 season. "I will not name names, but at this moment we have six strikers. We need to be left with four," he told Sky Sport. "We are in the phase of removing excess players from the squad." Marotta also confirmed defender Reto Ziegler could be set to join city rivals Torino, following Angelo Ogbonna's switch to Juventus Stadium this summer.
  23. I wouldn't even consider leaving Juventus, insists Chiellini The Italy defender pledges his immediate future to the Bianconeri, saying he would have no interest in moving to Real Madrid since he believes his side are ready for big things. Aug 4, 2013 Giorgio Chiellini has dismissed the suggestion that he could leave Juventus this summer, stressing he has complete faith in Antonio Conte's vision for the Italian champions. According to reports, Real Madrid are considering making a €22 million move for the versatile centre-back, who has established himself as one of the top defenders in the world since joining from Fiorentina in 2005. However, Chiellini has reiterated his desire to stay in Turin and thrown his support behind his coach, saying he senses that even better things are on the horizon for the two-time defending Italian champions. "If Real Madrid make me an offer it wouldn't go through my head at this time to leave Juventus," the 28-year-old told journalists at a press conference after his side's 3-1 defeat to L.A. Galaxy. "Right now that there is a project on the launching pad. [Giuseppe] Marotta said it clearly: this is not a club that sells. Rather it is a club that wants to build an important cycle. "Think about it: in Conte's first year, who would ever have imagined Juventus becoming champions of Italy? We have forged ahead. "Now that we have added a few more pieces, now that we are more solid, we aim to continue on this path." Juventus have signed attacking duo Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez this summer, the former on a free transfer and the latter for a reported fee of €11.8m from Manchester City, and Chiellini believes that the Bianconeri have spent more wisely than many of their European rivals. "They say that Juve has spent €200m - I would like to see where that €200m was spent," the Italy international continued. "When you talk about numbers, you have to justify them. Juventus did not make very large expense. "Bayern spent €40 million on Mario Gotze, for just one player. Juve haven't spent that on all their purchases. "But it really is not about the money - we want to improve and that's it. We're going to compare to others at the appropriate time in the field." Juventus kick off their Scudetto defence against Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris at the end of the month.
  24. Tevez: I've not worked this hard since Boca Juniors days The Bianconeri's new Argentine attacker is confident his pre-season endeavour will pay off in the near future and says his previous troubles will not plague his time in Italy. Aug 4, 2013 Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has admitted that he has not worked as hard in pre-season since he was at Boca Juniors. The 29-year-old forward, who joined the Bianconeri from Manchester City earlier this summer, explained that he is really enjoying being put through his paces by coach Antonio Conte, as he expects all of the hard work to pay off. “I’m training very intensely, and it’s normal to be a bit tired," the Argentine attacker told reporters on Saturday. "I haven’t worked this hard since I was at Boca Juniors! "The objective is to be ready for the Italian Super Cup, and games such as our clash against Galaxy [on Saturday] are useful to help you prepare in the best possible way.” http://markting10.nl/ Tevez also expressed his gratitude to Conte for recently telling journalists that the former Manchester United striker is very different to the person portrayed by sections of the media. “I’m a good person and I think that in the long run time will tell exactly what someone’s really like," he reasoned. “Conte also places great importance on tactics and is very well-prepared. I’m looking to pay careful attention to the systems used and apply what Conte asks of me on the field of play." Juventus meet Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on August 18.
