  1. Juventus to swap Bonucci for Bruno Alves Turin side hoping to tempt Russian champions to release defender with a cash-plus-player deal. Aug 25, 2011 Juventus could be ready to swap Leonardo Bonucci for Zenit St Petersburg
  2. 'Juventus are ready' - Buffon believes club can return to the top The veteran shot-stopper is hopeful his club will be able to mount a challenge for the Serie A title and stated he expects to play a big part in the campaign. Aug 24, 2011 Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he is confident the club can return to the top of the Italian game by mounting a serious Scudetto challenge. The Turin-based club head into the new campaign with hope, rather than expectation, having finished only seventh in Serie A in the last two seasons. Juventus have signed the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal in order to improve their fortunes, and though Buffon reckons a big challenge lies ahead, he added that the fans fully support the squad. "Along with this enthusiasm there is a great responsibility, because we know we have to start almost from scratch and we know that Juventus' history calls for an immediate rebirth. We have to challenge from start to finish," Buffon told the Corriere dello Sport. "There is so much enthusiasm, after two bad years from Juve it is normal that the desire for revenge is so intense. "Juventus are ready and the fans are fond of this squad. Any fan would be a little dissatisfied after these two years, but instead there was not one day in which the training camp was not filled with people." The 33-year-old custodian added that he hopes to put his fitness problems behind him after being afflicted by injuries in the last couple of seasons. "I expect to play continously. In the last few years I have not been able to train and play in a continuous manner. After I was operated on, I have never got an injury again, which is a good sign. "I feel fine and I think I have proved it in training. I hope to play at least 35 of the 38 [serie A] games: I will skip the last matches because we will already have won the title by then!" Buffon said with a smile.
  3. Marotta promises more signings Aug 23, 2011 Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta says the club will sign "at least two new players" before the close of the transfer window. After finishing seventh in Serie A last season, Juventus have had a busy summer in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Mirko Vucinic, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but Marotta has revealed their business is far from finished. "At least two new players will arrive before the transfer window closes, but we could even sign a third," he said. Cesena forward Emanuele Giaccherini is said to be a target and Marotta, speaking at a Lega Calcio meeting, said: "I'm not here today to specifically talk to Cesena, but there is always an opportunity to discuss things with colleagues." On Sevilla winger Diego Perotti, he said: "He is not the only opportunity that we are evaluating. We know that we have a few holes to plug."
  4. 'Capitan futuro', 'the new Marco Tardelli' - it's about time Juventus woke up to the Claudio Marchisio myth With another underwhelming display, the Italian international has proven that he doesn't have what it takes to set the tone in the middle for the Old Lady. Aug 22, 2011 After cutting back onto his left foot, he unleashed a stinging drive which flashed off the far post. The large Juventus contingent at San Siro stood and applauded. It was a rare bright moment for Claudio Marchisio in the Trofeo Berlusconi defeat to Milan last night, but in those few seconds alone he gave his band of sympathisers just enough ammunition to continue their adulation of a player who continues to fall short in his quest to become the club
  5. Giorgio Chiellini eagerly anticipating Udinese clash The highly-rated defender is looking forward to his side's Serie A opener, but was quite disappointed with the Trofeo Berlusconi loss against AC Milan. Aug 22, 2011 Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is eagerly anticipating his side's first league match of the season away against Udinese on August 28. The Turin side have recorded some mixed results during pre-season, but Juve's second-half display against AC Milan in Sunday's 2-1 loss in the Trofeo Berlusconi gives reason for optimism in Chiellini's opinion. "Our second-half performance can give us some comfort ahead of the trip to Udine. Obviously facing the team from Friuli this early in the season isn
