Preview: Cagliari vs. Juventus - prediction, team news, lineups Cagliari seek a continuation of their recent upswing in Serie A when they take on Juventus at the Unipol Domus on Friday. Claudio Ranieri's men held champions-elect Inter Milan 2-2 last time out, having beaten Atalanta 2-1 the week before, and will back themselves to stun the Old Lady in this weekend's gameweek 33 action. Match preview Sardinia hosts Friday's encounter between Ranieri's side and Juventus, with the home team keen to continue the ongoing run that has seen them create separation in the relegation tussle. ............ Juventus aim to claim a win at Cagliari to extend their five-match winning run against the Rossoblu to six. However, Massimiliano Allegri's men must perform at a high level to secure maximum points in Sardinia, something the Bianconeri have not done consistently since the turn of the year. Allegri believes his side will not drop out of the Champions League places — he always maintained a return to Europe's premier club competition was the target, not Scudetto contention — but Bologna are four points adrift and fifth-placed Roma sit eight points adrift, possibly being cut to five if the Giallorossi win their outstanding game against Udinese. While looking over their shoulder at the turn of the year would have been scoffed at if it was suggested, picking up two wins victories from 11 matches has seen the Old Lady slide in the table, giving other sides a chance of supplanting Allegri's men in the final weeks. Nevertheless, Italy's likelihood of securing an extra Champions League slot means it would take a cataclysmic collapse and other sides taking advantage to see Juventus fall to sixth. Supporters may not be keen on a trip to an in-form side, especially as the Turin-based club have been winless on their travels since January 21's 3-0 win at Lecce, losing three of the subsequent five on the road. ............ Team News Ranieri may have to make do without Gaetano Oristanio, Andrea Petagna, Marco Mancosu and Leonardo Pavoletti, all of whom are expected to miss out through injury on Friday. ............ Moise Kean and Arkadiusz Milik are touch-and-go for Friday, with the latter tipped to make the bench if need be. Federico Chiesa was frustrated to come off in last weekend's Turin derby continuing his complicated relationship with Allegri. Regardless, the Italy international should start in Sardinia. Cagliari possible starting lineup: Scuffet; Zappa, Mina, Dossena; Nandez, Deiola, Makoumbou, Suleman, Augello; Luvumbo, Lapadula Juventus possible starting lineup: Perin; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa We say: Cagliari 1-1 Juventus While Cagliari head into Friday's game having lost 12 of the previous 13 matches against Juventus in Serie A, this week's encounter represents the Sardinians' best opportunity of getting some joy against Allegri's men. The spoils could be shared in gameweek 33, with the Rossoblu taking that as a point gained, even if it extends their winless run to 16 against a side starting the matchday in the top three places. Juventus recovers one player and loses two for Cagliari game Juventus will face Cagliari this weekend in a hugely important game for the struggling Bianconeri. After winning two consecutive competitive matches, Juve dropped two points in their goalless draw against Torino in their last fixture. Those dropped points are painful for a team fighting to maintain its third spot on the league table and must win against Cagliari. ............ Ahead of the fixture, the Bianconeri have now recovered one injured player, with Arkadiusz Milik available for selection. However, the report adds that Juventus will be without the services of Fabio Miretti and Moise Kean, who are both not fit enough to participate in the must-win game. ............ Juventus loses their case against Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus has lost their court case against Cristiano Ronaldo and will now pay him almost 10m euros. Ronaldo had taken the club to court over deferred wages worth around 19m euros. ............ Juve remained adamant that the club is not liable to pay him, but an arbitration panel has ruled that the Bianconeri owe the Al Nassr striker €9.7m plus interest. The panel ruled that the attacker and Juventus share responsibility, so each party must pay half the 19 million euros. ............ Allegri breaks down why Cagliari will be a complicated team to beat Juventus manager Max Allegri has broken his silence on the significance of facing Cagliari as his team prepares to take on the Islanders this weekend. Juve finds themselves in a crucial phase where they must secure victories in every match, and their inability to overcome Torino in their last outing has undoubtedly dented their confidence. Now, they are set to encounter a Cagliari side that many anticipate them to defeat, yet the fixture presents its own challenges. ............ Speaking ahead of the fixture, Allegri said: “Of the eight victories they have achieved this year, Cagliari have achieved six at home, scoring 23 points out of 31 at home. They are one of the first teams to score many goals in their last few goals, with many players who have scored goals as substitutes. So It will be a very difficult and complicated match, as it is always difficult to play in Cagliari. They will have the fans pushing for survival and we are fighting for our place in the Champions League and we need to play the right match.” ............ How much can Manchester United pay for Bremer? Gleison Bremer remains firmly in Manchester United’s plans, with the Premier League club expected to secure his signature in the summer. ............. Aware of United’s interest, Juventus is prepared to part ways with Bremer if they receive an offer they cannot refuse. The Old Lady anticipates Manchester United to make a bid of around 60 million euros for his services. United’s financial capabilities suggest they could potentially offer even more, prompting Juventus to swiftly secure a replacement from Serie A at a lower cost to fill the void left by the Brazilian defender. ............. Massimo Mauro discusses the difficult job Cristiano Giuntoli must do at Juventus With Juventus poised to embark on a rebuild at the conclusion of this season, Cristiano Giuntoli’s role at the club has undoubtedly become more challenging. ............. Having endured a prolonged period of stagnation, Juventus evidently lacks the necessary ingredients to reclaim its position at the summit of Italian football. Giuntoli faces the daunting task of constructing a new foundation, potentially from the ground up. Pundit Massimo Mauro has shed light on the magnitude of this endeavor, underscoring the significant challenges that lie ahead for Giuntoli in reshaping Juventus. He said: “Giuntoli must do a great job, I would almost say he must transform the team. If I think about the work done in Naples, he managed to give Spalletti who then made him play the team did wonderfully well, they managed to win the Scudetto. At Juventus, this seems a little more complicated because Juventus competes with the teams that win in Europe and talking about Next Gen and attention to the budget seems incompatible with a Juventus that can compete in the Champions League and win the Scudetto next year or Giuntoli will perform miracles.” ............. Cagliari vs Juventus: Preview Juventus will play Cagliari on Serie A Matchday 33, and both Massimiliano Allegri and Claudio Ranieri will face teams that they coached previously. Juventus will travel to Sardinia to play Cagliari at the Unipol Domus on Serie A Matchday 33, and the coaches of the respective clubs will be facing their former employers. Bianconeri tactician Massimiliano Allegri made his coaching breakthrough with the Sardinians, taking charge from 2008 to 2010, before winning many trophies at AC Milan and Juve. Meanwhile, his Isolani counterpart Claudio Ranieri coached La Vecchia Signora from 2007 to 2009. ............ Cagliari are in 14th place and four points above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Juventus are comfortably positioned in third place on 63 points, but they have won just two out of their last 11 Serie A games and they were held to a scoreless draw against city rivals Torino. The Bianconeri have the second-best defence in the division, having conceded 24 goals, but they have found the back of the net just 45 times, a paltry tally compared to Inter’s 77. ............ Cagliari vs Juventus: Predicted line-ups Ranieri could potentially implement the 4-3-2-1 formation, moving away from the back three formation that he used against Inter. ............ Meanwhile, Juventus will miss Arkadiusz Milik because of a muscular injury whereas Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli are serving their respective bans. Despite the lack of goals against Torino, Allegri will probably keep the same starting line-up that featured in the Derby della Mole including forwards Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa. Cagliari predicted XI vs Juventus (4-3-2-1): Scuffet; Nandez, Mina, Dossena, Augello; Makoumbou, Prati, Sulemana; Oristanio, Gaetano; Shomurodov Juventus predicted XI vs Cagliari (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Chiesa, Vlahovic Cagliari vs Juventus: When does the Serie A fixture start? Kick-off in the Serie A Matchday 33 fixture of Cagliari vs Juventus is set for 20:45 CEST, local time in Italy, on Friday, April 19. For viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the game will start at 19:45 BST. That is 14:45 ET / 11:45 PT in the United States. ............ Arek Milik working towards recovery, injury scare for Moise Kean There are mixed updates on the injury front for Juventus, as Arkadiusz Milik is pushing for a return while Moise Kean sustains a new knock. We begin with the positive news as Milik’s comeback is edging ever closer. The 30-year-old has been out with an adductor injury for just over a month. The Polish striker partially trained with the group on Monday. Therefore, the former Napoli man has a good chance of receiving a call-up for the trip to Cagliari. ............ But while Milik could return to boost the attacking department, Kean could be out with a new injury. The Italian felt some discomfort during today’s training session. Therefore, he underwent medical tests which detected a slight knee sprain. While his condition isn’t serious, the 24-year-old risks missing the Serie A fixture against Cagliari. Both Milik and Kean have been acting as backups for Dusan Vlahovic this season. But while the Poland international has netted six goals between the league and the cup this term, his younger teammate has yet to open his scoring account. Fabrizio Ravanelli offers some playing advice to Kenan Yildiz Former striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has offered some advice to Kenan Yildiz and also supports the decision to award the youngster the number 10 shirt at Juventus. Yildiz is anticipated to feature regularly for Juventus starting from next season, having proven to be a superb find for the Bianconeri. ............ The Bianconeri are looking to offer him a new deal and the number 10 shirt to show their commitment. While advising the youngster, Ravanelli said: “He must play wide in the last 20-30 meters. He has great quality and must not act far from the opponent’s penalty area. The number 10 shirt? I would give it to him without any doubt. The boy must grow with the mentality from 10 and must feel the trust of the club. With that shirt he would be even more at the center of the project.” ............ Juventus manager Allegri lands on Napoli shortlist Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly emerged as a target for Napoli who are searching for a new manager. The 56-year-old still has another year left on his contract with the Bianconeri. However, the two parties could opt to part ways at the end of the season, with the management seeking a fresh start with a more progressive manager. Bologna boss Thiago Motta has emerged as the favorite candidate for the role. So Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has Allegri on his coach shortlist. ............. The Partenopei have already an agreement in principle with Juventus sporting Giovanni Manna who will vacate his post in Turin at the end of the season and head south. The 35-year-old could thus sponsor Allegri’s move. As for Juventus, they’re reportedly willing to offer a hand to make the operation feasible by covering half of the manager’s salary for the remaining year on his contract. ‘Allegri will no longer be Juventus coach’, Caressa suggests Respected journalist Fabio Caressa suggested that Massimiliano Allegri ‘will no longer be the Juventus coach’ beyond this season, providing an update on his future. The 56-year-old Italian tactician has come under increasing pressure during his second spell in the Piedmont capital, and things reached a new level this season. After putting up a strong fight with Inter in the early stages of the title race, things began to fall off in the second half. Juventus have now managed just two wins in their last 11 Serie A matches, a run that has seen opinion on Allegri reach a consensus regarding his dismissal in the summer. One of the leading candidates to replace him is Bologna’s Thiago Motta, reports suggest. ............. Allegri future Speaking to Sky Calcio Club via TMW, Caressa first discussed the letter sent by John Elkann to Juventus shareholders last week. “The most important news of the week, beyond the 0-0 in the derby, was the letter that John Elkann wrote to the shareholders. There is a very important passage in which the team is given to Cristiano Giuntoli. ............. The famous Italian journalist then provided an update on the future of Allegri. “Allegri hasn’t been called by anyone yet, he has a good relationship with Elkann who recognizes him for having carried the team through a very difficult moment, but he hasn’t been contacted to tell him if he’ll be staying or going yet. “He feels a bit alone and abandoned but the feeling is that he will no longer be the Juventus coach next year.” Read more -> https://football-italia.net/allegri-no-longer-juventus-coach/

Ex-Juventus striker predicts Allegri will leave Former Juventus striker Alessandro Matri sees ‘too much distance’ between the club and Massimiliano Allegri and predicts the Italian tactician will leave the Allianz Stadium in June. Allegri is under fire after Juventus’ 0-0 draw against Torino which means the Bianconeri have only two games from the last 11 in Serie A. ............. “There is too much distance between the club and Allegri, and it’s difficult to think they can continue together,” the ex-Italy international told DAZN. “When you talk about a project, you can’t get to this point and continue to stall for time. ............. What Giuntoli said about Allegri “At the end of the season, there will be time to sit down and understand what the future of Juventus will be with clear objectives,” said Giuntoli. “That is what we did last summer. The coach has a contract, he is doing a great job and at the end of the season we’ll sit down to talk with him.” Read more -> https://football-italia.net/ex-juventus-striker-predicts-allegri-will-leave/

Juventus set more negative records – The worst attacking stats in decades Juventus continue to set some undesired records in what has gradually descended into a forgettable campaign. While Max Allegri and the club’s officials insist that the results remain in line with the objectives – that is finishing in the Top Four – the hollow performances have been difficult for the fans to digest, especially over the last few months. Yesterday, the Bianconeri fired blanks once more, settling for a goalless draw in the Derby della Mole against Torino. The last time the club scored fewer goals by this stage of the season was in the 1998/99 campaign. This term, the Bianconeri have only registered 45 goals since the start of the domestic campaign. In the 98/99 season, they had only scored 38 strikes after 32 rounds. So from an attacking standpoint, the stats suggest this is the worst version of Juventus in 25 years. ............ Juventus fans rejoice as record remains intact following Inter’s draw Juventus supporters can breath a sigh of relief following the 2-2 draw between Inter and Cagliari on Sunday night. While Max Allegri’s men haven’t given the fanbase many reasons to celebrate over the past few months, Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari have at least helped the Bianconeri preserve an important Serie A record The Old Lady famously set the record for the league’s point tally in the 2013/14 campaign, assembling a whopping 102 points. This was Antonio Conte’s third and last season at the helm before his controversial departure in the following summer. ............ But while some of the Inter faithful were beginning to dream of breaking Juve’s record, their hopes were shattered last night when they settled for a single point against the tenacious Isolani. At the moment, Simone Inzaghi’s men have 83 points in the bag. If they win their remaining six league fixtures, they will finish the season with 101 points, one short of the Bianconeri’s record. ............ “I’m always the first” – Chiesa mutters following his exit in Torino vs Juventus Juventus star Federico Chiesa was left irritated after leaving the pitch at the hour mark in the Derby della Mole against Torino. The 26-year-old was the Bianconeri’s most influential player in the final third during his time on the pitch. He put Dusan Vlahovic through on goal with a sublime cross that the latter squandered, and threatened with a low drive in the second half which hit his captain Danilo. Nevertheless, this hasn’t spared him from an early exit. As usual, Max Allegri decided to put a relatively premature ending to the striker’s outing, replacing him with Kenan Yildiz in the 60th minute. The manager simultaneously replaced Filip Kostic with Samuel Iling-Junior. Chiesa was left bemused and could hardly hide his frustration when forced to share an embrace with his manager. ............ Eventually, Chiesa was muttering to himself, and cameras caught him repeating the same line: “I’m always the first substitution”. ............ Juventus Ultras clarify Superga banners: “We never intended to insult the dead” Juventus Ultras have released a statement explaining their actions in front of the Superga Basilica while denying any malice against the fallen Torino legends. Ahead of Saturday’s Della Mole, the Drughi (the most famous Juventus Ultras group) displayed banners in front of the Superga Basilica, causing great irritation among Torino supporters. This site is synonymous with the Superga air disaster which took the lives of the entire Granada squad on the 4th of May, 1949. That team was renowned as “Grande Torino”, having dominated Italian football in the post-WWII era. ............ “Regarding the controversy related to what happened on Friday night, we would like to underline that the Basilica of Superga has been a symbol of the city of Turin since its construction on a par with the Mole and the Caval’d Brons, and not Torino as a club,” reads the statement published by the Drughi. “We have always respected the dead, as we would like other fanbases to do towards our dead. “No one allowed themselves to even think about insulting the tombstone of the fallen. “It was just a demonstration that Superga, which protects our city from above (the hill), has been part of the history of Turin’s first team since 1897.” Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/juventus-ultras-clarify-superga-banners-we-never-intended-to-insult-the-dead/

OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL: Wojciech Szczesny has surgery after breaking nose Looks like Juve’s No. 1 could be sporting a cool mask the next time we see him take the field. ............... Szczesny, with his arms fully outstretched, caught an inadvertent elbow from Torino substitute Adam Masina, causing the Polish keeper to crash to the ground in obvious pain. About 12 hours after the final whistle sounded at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, we found out that what we expected to be the diagnosis after the big collision was indeed true — Szczesny broke his noise and had to undergo surgery to put things back in proper alignment, Juventus said in a statement on their website Sunday morning. “The surgery went perfectly successful,” it read. Szczesny is only expected to miss Friday’s trip to Sardinia against Cagliari. If that’s the case, that means Mattia Perin would play in back-to-back games for just the second time this season as he will make his usual Coppa Italia start the following Tuesday against Lazio, with Szczesny likely returning to the starting lineup on May 5 when Juve face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. ............... Juventus suspect Szczesny fracture Juventus and Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has a suspected fractured nose following a collision in the 0-0 draw with Torino. The shot-stopper went up to punch away a cross during the Derby della Mole when Adam Masina landed on him elbow-first in an accidental coming together.
