Juventus don't need Jovetic, insists Marotta

The Bianconeri supremo believes the arrival of Carlos Tevez has solved the team's
attacking shortcomings and revealed Inter have made an approach for Mauricio Isla.

Jul 13, 2013

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta insists the club have given up signing Stevan Jovetic simply because they do not need another attacker.

The Serie A champions have long been linked with a move for the Fiorentina ace, despite Marotta previously claiming a deal would be impossible due to poor relations between the clubs.

Coach Antonio Conte admitted earlier this week that the Montenegro international would be too expensive for the Bianconeri, but Marotta has stressed the acquisition of Carlos Tevez from Manchester City means the 23-year-old is no longer a necessary target.

"We pulled out of the race for Jovetic a while ago," he was quoted as saying by Correire dello Sport. "We are satisfied with the signings we've made to boost our attack.

"Jovetic has become an utopia - it's not because we couldn't sign him, but because we preferred other options. With Tevez, we think we have solved our problems up front."

Juve have also been linked with a move for Bologna attacker Alessandro Diamanti, with the Rossoblu setting a deadline of Monday for any approach for the player to be made, but Marotta claims there was never any real interest.

"We never approached Bologna nor the representatives of the player. No negotiation exists and none will start in the future," he stated.

Finally, Marotta revealed they had received an approach from Inter for Mauricio Isla, but claimed that any potential deal was a long way from being completed.

"We have had a request from Inter, politely received, but there is no financial agreement," the 56-year-old said. "In fact, we are not even past the stage where you talk to the player."

Marotta: 'Giaccherini wants Sunderland move'

Jul 13, 2013

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that the club have agreed a fee with Sunderland for Emanuele Giaccherini, after the player requested the move.

The Black Cats are reportedly close to sealing a move for the Italy international after boss Antonio Conte also confirmed the transfer.

"In Giaccherini's transfer to Sunderland, the will of the player had priority over the club's," Sky Sports News quotes Marotta as saying.

"Emanuele evaluated, not only the economic aspects but also the standing he will have at Sunderland, and it was a challenge he decided to accept. We have gone along with his wishes."

Giaccherini made 21 appearances for Juve last season, scoring three goals.

Marotta hints at further Juventus signings

The 56-year-old is thrilled with the club's summer purchases to date but claims
they will continue to monitor the transfer market for any other "decent opportunities".

Jul 19, 2013

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that the club's summer spending may not be at an end.

The Bianconeri have already invested heavily in the off-season, with Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez and Angelo Ogbonna for a combined fee of approximately €25 million, but Marotta maintains the Serie A champions will continue to scour the market for any further "decent opportunities."

“The recent arrivals have fitted in well. We’ve moved early to assemble a very competitive squad,” he told reporters.

“Considering the foundations are already strong, comprised of players who have lifted us to two consecutive league titles, we can already consider ourselves satisfied, even though we’ll continue to monitor the transfer market should any decent opportunities arise.

“The competition has certainly increased following the arrival of such important players. But this can only positively impact a squad that’s about to embark on a long season with plenty of fixtures.”

Marotta is hopeful the club's investment this summer will allow them to push for European glory in addition to domestic dominance, after they reached the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League before being knocked out by Bayern Munich.

“We’ll aim to reclaim our title in Italy and go even further in Europe. However, given the recent acquisitions made by the main foreign teams, we know it won’t be a straightforward task," he added.

Juventus’ Marotta talks transfers

Jul 19, 2012

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta insists they have no immediate plans to sell Mauricio Isla or Mirko Vucinic.

The Chilean international, co-owned with Udinese, is wanted by Inter. Vucinic, meanwhile, is said to be considering his future after the arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

“At this moment in time, Isla is not available for transfer,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“Mauricio was of interest to Inter. We sat down around a table to evaluate the offer financially and technically.

“However, right now, and in agreement with the Coach, we don’t think that he should be made available. Isla is our player.”

The giornalaccio rosa dello Sport this morning suggested that Juventus could sell Vucinic if a €15m offer was received.

“Vucinic is, like everyone else in the squad, a valuable player and he deserves respect,” Marotta continued.

“It is only normal that competition for places increases with new signings, but the Coach will make his considerations game by game.

“Competition is positive and not negative. At this moment there are not the conditions in place to sell Vucinic.”

Marotta though did concede that Juventus have too many options in attack with Sebastian Giovinco, Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella also at the club.

“We know that we have too many forwards and we want to start the season with five in the squad, but to sell you need the right offer and the desire of the player to leave as was the case with Emanuele Giaccherini.

“Other transfer moves? If an opportunity presents itself then we’ll take advantage of that, but right now there are no opportunities that could become concrete in the near future.

“We have to respect our financial parameters, but we’ll look to remain number one in Italy and be super competitive in Europe.”

Marotta: Juventus have too many forwards

The Bianconeri have been reportedly trying to cash in on Alessandro Matri
and Fabio Quagliarella in order to fund a move for Napoli wing-back Juan Camilo Zuniga.

Jul 20, 2013

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has claimed that the club have a "surplus" of forwards and hinted that even Mirko Vucinic could be sold.

The Bianconeri have already brought in two new strikers this summer in the form of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, and given that they also have Vucinic, Sebastian Giovinco, Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella on their books, it has been suggested they have been trying to hawk their attackers to the highest bidder.

Marotta refused to confirm what players were for sale but did concede that Juve have a problem to address as they look to free up funds and squad space for additional transfers.

"We have a surplus up front," he told reporters on Friday. "But to speak about names is obnoxious, also because consent is essential to any transfer."

Marotta sought to play down mounting speculation that Vucnic might be on the market, but then appeared to suggest that the Montenegrin could be allowed to leave for the right price.

"Speaking about Mirko [like this] is like talking about an entire squad that has brought with it two championships in a row," he claimed. "There are players of great value who must be respected.

"Today, anyway, there are not the right conditions for the boy to be transferred."

It has been claimed that Juve's attempts to sign Juan Camilo Zuniga from Napoli hinge on their ability to offload one of their strikers.

Marotta on Isla and Zuniga

Jul 27, 2013

Juventus dg Beppe Marotta slammed the door on Mauricio Isla to Inter and Juan Camilo Zuniga to Turin.

The transfer guru spoke in a telephone interview with SportItalia and briefly outlined his position on the latest rumours.

“Isla to Inter? For now he is staying here,” replied Marotta.

“Zuniga from Napoli? I don’t think he is going to arrive.”

On Friday Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez reiterated that Zuniga is a valuable member of the team, so will not be allowed to join the Bianconeri.

His contract expires in June 2014, so the club does not want to lose him as a free agent.

Marotta: 'Difficult Juve start'

Jul 29, 2013

Beppe Marotta feels “this is the first time in three years Juventus have had such a difficult start” to the season.

The director general spoke to Sky Sport Italia at the presentation of the 2013-14 fixture list, which was drawn up today.

Juve begin the campaign away to Sampdoria, then host Lazio and visit Inter in Week 3.

“This is the first time in three years Juventus have had such a difficult start,” said Marotta.

“However, you have to face all the teams sooner or later.”

Marotta: Isla staying, no Zuniga

Jul 30, 2013

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta says Mauricio Isla won’t be sold and Juan Zuniga will not arrive from Napoli.

The Chilean international, co-owned with Udinese, is wanted by Inter. While the Colombian wing-back is on Juve’s radar given that his contract at the Stadio San Paolo expires in 2014.

“Isla is our player,” the official told Sky Sport Italia. “I’m not denying Inter’s approach for him, but, with no substitute, he will remain ours.

“He’s told us that he would like to stay and, with boss Antonio Conte’s blessing, he is a Juventus player.

“Zuniga? We have a good relationship with Napoli and we accept that they will not be selling him.”

Marotta added that he believed the Old Lady’s summer spending spree was over, but they are looking to sell one of their forwards.

“I don’t think we’ll sign anyone else. We’ve added to sections of the team that needed it such as the attack and defence.

“We brought in a lot of players at the start of the summer, we have built a competitive team. In these tough economical times for Italian football, we have invested well.”

Juve’s two biggest signings were Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao and Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.

They join fellow attackers Mirko Vucinic, Sebastian Giovinco, Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella at the club.

“We have an attack that needs reducing because six players of that level are a lot,” Marotta noted. “We want five, perhaps with a youngster to develop.

“The hope is that we find a positive solution for us. The requests will need analysing, but the desire of the player is more fundamental than that of the club.”

Marotta slams Juventus fixture pile-up

The club's director says teams competing in Europe should receive better
protection from Serie A organisers following Juve's tough opening to the campaign.

Jul 30, 2013

Giuseppe Marotta has hit out at Serie A organisers after Juventus were handed a tough run of fixtures at the start of the 2013-14 season.

The champions begin the defence of their Scudetto crown with a visit to Sampdoria - the only side to beat them twice last season in Serie A - while a gruelling run of fixtures from the end of September sees them face a derby clash with Torino, AC Milan and Fiorentina, as well as two Champions League group games.

Marotta feels Italian sides competing on the continent should be handed better protection from Serie A organisers, telling Tuttosport: "Certainly the calendar has been less yielding in the last few years.

"There are many cup matches close to important games in the season, or head-to-head matches which are traditionally tricky.

"The league should better protect those who represent Italy in Europe. I realise this is difficult, perhaps impossible in some cases, but it would benefit everyone."

Despite their ominous-looking start to the campaign, Marotta is fully confident his side have what it takes to secure a third successive Serie A title.

He added: "The beginning is tough and we should be aggressive in those games, but this is one of our characteristics. We do not lack the will to win the championship for the third time in a row."

Marotta rules out Isla exit

The Juventus director says the Chilean wing-back wants to stay in Turin despite
interest from Inter, and has played down his side's chances of signing Juan Zuniga.

Jul 30, 2013

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has insisted that his side will be hanging on to Mauricio Isla.

The Chilean has endured a difficult start to life in Turin, making just a handful of appearances for the Bianconeri last term following his move from Udinese a year ago.

He has since been linked with a move to Inter this summer, but Marotta says he wants to stay at the club.

"Isla is our player,” the official told Sky Sport Italia. "I’m not denying Inter’s approach for him, but, with no substitute, he will remain ours.

"He’s told us that he would like to stay and, with boss Antonio Conte’s blessing, he is a Juventus player."

Marotta went on to say that Napoli defender Juan Zuniga, who has been liked with a move to Turin, will not be sold by his current employers this summer.

"We have a good relationship with Napoli and we accept that they will not be selling him," he added.

Finally, the 56-year-old said that his side are unlikely to make any more signings this summer, with their main priority offloading unwanted players.

"I don’t think we’ll sign anyone else. We’ve added to sections of the team that needed it such as the attack and defence," he added.

"We brought in a lot of players at the start of the summer, we have built a competitive team. In these tough economic times for Italian football, we have invested well.

"We have an attack that needs reducing because six players of that level are a lot. We want five, perhaps with a youngster to develop.

"The hope is that we find a positive solution for us. The requests will need analysing, but the desire of the player is more fundamental than that of the club."

Juventus confirm 'excess' striker sale

Director general Giuseppe Marotta claims the club are in the process
of getting rid of two forwards who are deemed surplus to requirements.

Aug 4, 2013

Juventus are close to selling two strikers as they look to remove "excess players" from their squad, according to club chief Giuseppe Marotta.

The Bianconeri secured the arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente earlier this summer, prompting speculation that Alessandro Matri, Fabio Quagliarella, Sebastian Giovinco or Mirko Vucinic could be sold, with the former duo linked with moves to the Premier League.

Juve general director Marotta has now confirmed the Serie A champions are keen to offload two of their forwards as they look to whittle down their squad before the 2013-14 season.

"I will not name names, but at this moment we have six strikers. We need to be left with four," he told Sky Sport.

"We are in the phase of removing excess players from the squad."

Marotta also confirmed defender Reto Ziegler could be set to join city rivals Torino, following Angelo Ogbonna's switch to Juventus Stadium this summer.

Marotta: 'Juve sell two strikers'

Aug 4, 2013

Beppe Marotta confirmed Juventus “are in the phase of removing excess players,” including two strikers.

The Bianconeri are in America where they lost 3-1 to LA Galaxy in last night’s Guinness International Champions Cup game.

“I will not name names, but at this moment we have six strikers. We need to be left with four,” director general Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are in the phase of removing excess players from the squad.”

With the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, it was always likely that players such as Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella would be pushed down the pecking order.

Both players have been linked with Premier League moves to Everton, West Ham and Norwich.

However, Mirko Vucinic is by no means safe either, as he is of interest to Manchester United.

Marotta was also asked about the reports Reto Ziegler will move to rivals Torino. “Maybe.”

Marotta: 'Juve have to sell'

Aug 24, 2013

Juventus director Beppe Marotta confirms “the squad is too vast,” but insists Milan “haven’t asked for Alessandro Matri.”

The Bianconeri brought in Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, so Matri and Fabio Quagliarella are on the market.

http://markting10.nl/

“We have a valid squad that has won two consecutive titles. We know that we have the quality to go after a third,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia ahead of their match with Sampdoria.

“The side is competitive in every area, but obviously there is not enough room for everyone. If these players should find another club, we would certainly talk about it.

“Matri is our player and at the moment is with us. Milan? They haven’t asked for Matri, but if they do then we’re open to discussions.

“We are taking part in three competitions and want to do well, but at the moment the squad is too vast. There are still 10 days left before the transfer deadline and we will evaluate the situation with the players, as moves depend on them.”

Quagliarella has been heavily linked with a move abroad to West Ham or Norwich City, while Matri is a target for Everton, Milan and Napoli.

Juventus confirm interest in Zuniga

The Colombian has said that he is open to moving to Turin but the Bianconeri
say they do not want to ruin their relationship with Napoli in order to make it happen.

Aug 27, 2013

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has confirmed the club's interest in signing Napoli wing-back Juan Camilo Zuniga.

The Bianconeri have been linked with the Colombia international all summer and the 27-year-old, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Partenopei, admitted earlier this month that he would welcome a move to Turin.

http://markting10.nl/

Marotta has now admitted that the Italian champions are keen to do a deal, but not at the risk of ruining their good relationship with Napoli.

"He's a player that arouses much interest," the Juve director told giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. "But it is a situation that concerns Napoli, who have every right to propose a contract renewal.

"We're talking about an important player in [Rafael] Benitez's squad, so I'm afraid it will be difficult to take him away.

"We, given the good relations between the two clubs, do not intend to interfere."

Despite their interest in recruiting Zuniga, Marotta insists that Juve have no intention of selling Mauricio Isla, who is currently being courted by Inter.

"Isla will not move from Turin," he declared. "There was involvement from one club, but we said no.

"We have Simone Pepe, whom we are re-integrating back into the squad [after injury] and we will count on him."

Marotta did admit, however, that both Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella will be allowed to leave should they so desire.

"Juve are a top club and any player would have a hard time saying goodbye," he explained. "In effect, though, we have six strikers, and that perhaps that is too many.

"However, for Matri and Quagliarella, much will depend on their own decisions."

'Juve fight it out with Galatasaray'

Aug 29, 2013

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta feels Juventus will “fight it out with Galatasaray” to join Real Madrid in the knockouts.

The Bianconeri have been placed in the same Champions League group as Real Madrid, Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

http://markting10.nl/

“There are great difficulties in all the groups,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia after today’s draw in Monaco.

“We will fight it out with Galatasaray, who are a strong side. They did well in the Champions League last season and recently won the Super Cup.

“It won’t be easy to play in Istanbul, but we will go there and do our best. With Real Madrid we’ll try to fight them on an even keel.”

Marotta was also asked about some of the transfer rumours surrounding Juventus, such as Alessandro Matri’s imminent move to Milan and a bid for Manchester United winger Nani.

“Matri? We’ve always said six strikers were too many, there is the Milan opportunity and we will evaluate it. The matter has already progressed quite far. If Matri leaves, then Fabio Quagliarella will remain.

“Nani extended his contract with Manchester United and we never negotiated for him.”

Marotta denied the existence of a buy-out clause in Paul Pogba’s contract.

“Real Madrid President Florentino Perez asked about him, but there are no negotiations. We have no intention of selling him, as he has not yet expressed his full potential.”

Marotta confident of Juventus progress

The Bianconeri director believes his side's Champions League draw
could have been worse but warned of the threat that Galatasaray pose.

Aug 30, 2013

Juventus director Beppe Marotta believes his side have got a good chance of progressing from their Champions League group after being drawn alongside Real Madrid, Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

The Bianconeri, who reached the quarter-finals of last year's competition, approached the draw as a pot two team and Marotta has accepted that the group could have been far tougher.

http://markting10.nl/

"It is a draw of medium difficulty. It could have been better, could have been worse," he said.

Marotta also warned his troops that they must be wary of Galatasaray, particularly on the trip to Istanbul.

"We believe that, while Galatasaray were in pot three, they are a very good side and got to the quarter-finals last season, which proves they are tough.

"They won a trophy in the last few days in Turkey and in Fatih Terim they have a great coach. We know that the fans can make it tough, but they're also difficult opponents."

Paris Saint-Germain were also second seeds but were handed a seemingly easier group, with Benfica Olympiakos and Anderlecht as competition, but Marotta feels the French champions will still have their work cut out.

"It's a group of many possibilities. There are still four teams in there that can make anything happen."

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who represented the Turin giants earlier in his career, has never won the tournament but the 56-year-old feels he could still claim Europe's top prize before calling it quits.

"He remains a top player and he has a lot of quality, so you can't say it will never happen for him."

Marotta plans Juventus January signings

Sep 4, 2013

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta is reportedly already busy planning for January’s transfer window.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri have been busy this summer, acquiring Argentine Carlos Tevez, Spanish World Cup-winner Fernando Llorente and Angelo Ogbonna among others, but they still have unfinished business.

Tuttosport reports that Marotta’s first priority in January remains Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan of Cagliari, who was close to joining coach Antonio Conte’s squad just a few days ago.

Although the transfer didn’t go through, the good relationship which exists between Isolani president Massimo Cellino and Juventus officials could see the deal completed in January.

Meanwhile, the pursuit of Napoli winger Juan Camilo Zuniga will continue, with Conte having strongly requested the player. The firm no from Napoli has put a stop to the transfer for now, but after Christmas this could change.

Marotta calls for reform

Sep 9, 2013

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has underlined how crucial new stadiums could be for the re-birth of Italian football.

Top Serie A sides are lagging behind their European rivals in terms of generating revenue, with council-owned arenas seen as a significant handicap.

http://markting10.nl/

“It's essential Italian football undergoes reform, beginning with stadium facilities, most of which are currently in disrepair,” Marotta said at a conference in Cernobbio.

“We need new legislation on stadiums because one of the reasons we're lagging behind other countries is the difference in income from them.”

Juventus, of course, are the exception given that they own the Juventus Stadium – a venue which will host Italy’s World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

“It’s a modern stadium, part of the club's heritage, which is welcoming, iconic and safe. These are all prerequisites for a good arena,” added the former Sampdoria official.

“We hope the Italy game can be decisive for qualification. It’s a real point of pride for us to host the national team at the Juventus Stadium.”

Marotta also called on UEFA, European Football’s governing body, to help level out the playing field.

“The varying tax regimes in other countries are penalising Italian football,” Marotta said as he mirrored the concerns of Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani.

“These need to be harmonised because otherwise they create disparity, which is why I hope UEFA intervene.”

Uefa must help Italian football, says Marotta

The Juventus official has urged European football's governing body
to act and added that a process of reform is necessary.

Sep 9, 2013

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta feels Uefa must intervene to help Italian football close the financial gap with other nations.

Marotta believes that varying tax regimes across Europe are one of the reasons why Serie A clubs are no longer able to pay the same transfer fees and wages as foreign sides and thinks European football's governing body could play a role in changing the situation.

http://markting10.nl/

"The varying tax regimes in other countries are penalising Italian football," Marotta told reporters.

"These need to be harmonised because otherwise they create disparity, which is why I hope Uefa intervene."

The Bianconeri official then went on to say that it's vital for Italian clubs to start a process of gradual change and improve their facilities.

"It's essential Italian football undergoes reform, beginning with stadium facilities, most of which are currently in disrepair.

"We need new legislation on stadiums because one of the reasons we're lagging behind other countries is the difference in income from stadiums."

Marotta: 'Pogba and Vidal bids'

Sep 17, 2013

Beppe Marotta reveals Juventus “turned down” Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba offers and are targeting Champions League success.

The general manager spoke to Mediaset Premium ahead of tonight’s Champions League opener in Copenhagen.

http://markting10.nl/

“Are Juventus outsiders for the trophy? When Juventus take part in a competition, whether it’s the Scudetto or the Champions League, they must always target the maximum result. A lot also depends on possible favourable circumstances, mind you.”

This evening Mirko Vucinic, Andrea Barzagli and Kwadwo Asamoah are rested, but there is still no starting spot for Fernando Llorente.

“When we signed him we were well aware that he’d barely played for a year. Antonio Conte will use him when he is physically in good shape.

“Vidal is a very valuable player to us and always gives his contribution. The transfer market is irrational at times, but we have never actually decided what he’s worth. Real Madrid asked for Vidal, but we turned them down. We never even discussed a possible sale.”

The same is true of Paul Pogba, who also starts in Denmark tonight and is in talks for a contract extension.

“His explosion was somewhat unexpected, even if there were signs at Manchester United two years ago,” continued Marotta.

“Conte has been able to get the best out of him, so what I said about Vidal also applies to Pogba. These are players who form the solid core of the side. Yes, we did turn down important offers for Pogba.

“We had signed a contract with him promising to revisit it when he became a star. Right now he deserves a raise.”

Vidal worth as much as Bale, says Marotta

The Juventus general manager believes the 26-year-old Chilean
midfielder is just as valuable as Real Madrid's new world-record signing.

Sep 18, 2012

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta believes midfielder Arturo Vidal is worth the same amount as new Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

http://markting10.nl/

The Welsh winger made a world-record €100 million move to the Bernabeu this summer from Tottenham after starring in the Premier League last term.

However, Marotta is certain that the midfielder is worth just as much as the 24-year-old after starring for the Italian champions for the last two seasons.

"If Bale is worth €100m, then the same goes for Vidal," he told Mediaset.

"Real Madrid expressed an interest this year, but selling him is out of the question so the interest ended there."

Marotta also voiced his praise French midfielder Paul Pogba, who has established himself as an integral part of Antonio Conte's side since moving from Manchester United a year ago.

"We can say the same about Pogba [as Vidal]," Marotta added.

"He's a solid element of the team and we've turned down all the offers we've received for him.

"He's exploded in an almost unexpected way, so compliments to the lad but also to (Antonio) Conte who has managed to get the best out of him.

"If he confirms his status at the highest of levels, as we obviously hope he will, then this should be recognised with an increased salary."

Marotta: 'Tevez relaxed for Toro'

Sep 29, 2013

Beppe Marotta reveals Carlos Tevez is “relaxed” ahead of the Derby and Arturo Vidal’s contract is progressing.

http://markting10.nl/

The Juventus general manager spoke to Sky Sport Italia just before kick-off in Turin.

“Tevez is relaxed. He knows the Derby is a special game that is separate from the rest of the season, but he is always relaxed anyway.

“We never lowered our guard and want to give this great joy to our fans by getting the victory. It’s still worth only three points in the table, but the Derby remains very important.”

Antonio Conte complained that teams are trying to nullify the Juventus threat and has rested Andrea Pirlo for this clash.

“It’s difficult for us to play because the teams close up so much. Obviously, everyone can interpret the game however they want to. It’s up to us now to study counter-measures. We have created many chances in the last few rounds, so perhaps the only aspect we really need to improve is in defence.”

Marotta was asked about reports Vidal is due to sign his contract extension within days.

“There’s no rush, because Arturo has a contract with us. He wants to extend his contract with us and we want to extend it with him. There are other players in the economy of the team and we’ll try to finish these operations off for everyone.”

Marotta defends beaten Juventus

Oct 21, 2013

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has defended boss Antonio Conte, Gigi Buffon and the rest of the side following the loss at Fiorentina.

The Old Lady looked like they were on the way to three more points before they threw away a 2-0 lead in the 4-2 Tuscan loss on Sunday.

“We are aware that everything is still up for grabs and we should not put the Coach – Antonio Conte is doing a great job and is a winner – or the team on trial,” he said at the Premio Fair Play Calcio e Tv.

“You can’t offer any excuses really because the game against Fiorentina was illogical. It is difficult to explain.

http://markting10.nl/

“It is a moment of blurring. I wouldn’t talk of a crisis, but psychological tiredness. There was no tactical reason for the loss, we have to improve mentally.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult year because of the games we have to play and the value of the opponents.”

Some have pointed the finger of blame towards Buffon for the second Giuseppe Rossi goal which he conceded at the Franchi.

“Buffon is a champion, the captain and a leader,” the former Sampdoria official added. “We are used to him doing some extraordinary things.

“When he limits himself to the ordinary, when he doesn’t stop everything, there is excessive criticism.

“Buffon was and remains the best. Right now we are conceding goals which expose him to criticism, but criticism should be made with respect.”

Juventus will next be in action on Wednesday at Real Madrid, a crucial match given that they have drawn their opening two Champions League games.

“We are confident of going to the Bernabeu to play our game. It’s an important tie, there are points up for grabs to be conquered with gritted teeth, but we can reach our objective.

“The match at the Bernabeu will be against one of the strongest teams, who we face with respect and with the knowledge that we can have a leading role in the encounter.”

'Pogba will extend Juventus contract' - Marotta

The Bianconeri official is confident that the young Frenchman will add
years to his existing deal in Turin, with a salary increase included.

Oct 31, 2012

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that the wheels are in motion for midfielder Paul Pogba to be offered a contract extension at the club.

The France international has emerged as one of Europe's brightest young prospects, with Bianconeri president Andrea Agnelli fuelling speculation of a possible departure by claiming the club would accept a big-money offer for the 20-year-old.

However, Marotta insists that Pogba - whose current deal expires in 2016 - has no intention of leaving the Turin club, where he looks set to be offered the opportunity to extend his stay with the Scudetto holders the near future.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, he said: "Pogba is happy at Juventus and he has no intention of leaving.

"We will meet with the Frenchman's agents soon to extend our agreement and, at the same time, we will give him a pay-rise for his development."

Marotta went on to comment on Fifa's shortlist for the Ballon d'Or and World Coach of the Year, with Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo and coach Antonio Conte among the nominations - the former of which is Serie A's solitary representative.

"We are proud," he added. "We re-launched Pirlo's career and that fills us with joy.

"As for Antonio, he is a young coach, an emerging one and the fact he is included is a motive of honour for all of us.

"The omission of Arturo Vidal? The only player nomination from Serie A is our playmaker, so this shows the selection was very rigid."

Vidal set to sign Juventus extension, says Marotta

The Bianconeri director has revealed that the midfielder will sign
a contract renewal shortly, while has stressed Paul Pogba is going nowhere.

Dec 2, 2012

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that Arturo Vidal will sign a new deal with the Serie A champions in the upcoming days.

The Scudetto holders have been in talks with the Chile international for a while now and Marotta has revealed that it's only a matter of time before Vidal will extend his current contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2016.

"We have reached the final stages of the renewal talks with Vidal. We will make things official next week," Marotta told Sky Sport.

The 26-year-old has been in superb form for Juventus so far this season, scoring 10 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Marotta also had his say on the future of Paul Pogba, who has recently been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and stressed that there's no offers for the France international.

"Pogba has been doing a fine job, but there is no concrete interest in him that needs his attention."

Pogba, 20, has a contract with Juve until June 2016.
