Juve focus on Gomes, Pjanic

http://www.football-italia.net/84207/juve-focus-gomes-pjanic?

May 12, 2016

Juventus are involved in negotiations for both Valencia’s Andre Gomes and Roma’s Miralem Pjanic, say reports.

Tuttosport writes that Valencia have requested €65m for the talented Gomes, but Juve are offering €50m split into an immediate payment of €30m and a further €20m of bonuses.

An intermediary is currently at work negotiating with the La Liga outfit and the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes, according to the newspaper.

However, Mendes is expected to meet with Manchester United soon and the Premier League giants could provide stiff competition.

Meanwhile, Roma midfielder Pjanic is believed to be meeting his representatives today to discuss his options amid Bianconeri interest.

The Bosnia international has a buyout clause of €38m which the Old Lady could be willing to meet and the playmaker is expected to soon reach a decision about his future.

'Will I stay at Roma? You never know...' -
Pjanic fuels transfer rumours

The midfielder refused to commit his future to Roma amid transfer
interest from Juventus, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic says he is happy with life in the Italian capital but made no guarantees about his future at the club.

The Bosnia international has 10 goals in 32 league appearances this season and has been a crucial part of a Roma side that sits third in the Serie A table with one game left to play.

But Pjanic, 26, is uncertain of his future at the club as the likes of Juventus, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder in the coming transfer window.

"Will I stay at Roma? In football you never know, but I have a two-year contract," he told Roma TV.

"I feel very well [at Roma]. I am very well acclimatised, I love this city and this club and I hope one day I can win titles here."

Pjanic also praised Roma veteran Francesco Totti, saying: "Totti is a great captain and a great person.

"He is an extraordinary player, he taught me so much. It is a great pleasure to play with him."

Report: Juve activate Pjanic clause

http://www.football-italia.net/84308/report-juve-activate-pjanic-clause?

May 14, 2016

Mediaset claim Juventus have already agreed to pay Miralem Pjanic’s €38m release clause, so now it’s up to the Roma midfielder.

There had been multiple reports of Bianconeri interest in the 26-year-old Bosnia international, above all from Tuttosport and the Corriere dello Sport.

According to Mediaset today, Juve have given the all-clear to activate Pjanic’s release clause for €38m, a thoroughly affordable price-tag for a player of his quality and age.

Max Allegri is eager to get in ahead of the curve, as Pjanic is wanted by the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea.

Once the release clause is activated, the player still has to agree personal terms and he is all too aware of the bitter rivalry between Roma and Juventus.

He has scored 30 goals in 183 competitive games for Roma, marking himself out as a free kick specialist.

Roma press officer Lorenzo Serafini made this comment via Twitter: "No, no clause has been paid by anybody for Miralem Pjanic. Now we'd like to focus on Milan-Roma..."

Roma: 'Pjanic not joining Juventus'

http://www.football-italia.net/84321/roma-pjanic-not-joining-juventus?

May 14, 2016

Roma have released a statement denying “completely groundless” reports Juventus agreed to buy Miralem Pjanic.

The claim emerged from Mediaset this morning, suggesting Juve had paid the €38m release clause in his contract.

“AS Roma denies today's report on sportmediaset.it concerning an alleged payment of the buy-out clause in Miralem Pjanic's contract as the story is completely groundless,” read a statement on the club website.

If a club were to pay the €38m release clause, then it would be up to Pjanic to decide whether or not to agree personal terms.

Considering the 26-year-old Bosnian international’s quality and experience, €38m seems entirely affordable in today’s transfer market.

Sides known to be interested in Pjanic include Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Allegri contacts Pjanic?

http://www.football-italia.net/84361/allegri-contacts-pjanic?

May 15, 2016

It’s reported Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri spoke to Roma’s Miralem Pjanic to convince him to move to Turin.

The Bosnian playmaker has a release clause of €38m in his contract, and it’s been reported in recent days that the Bianconeri are willing to pay it.

The capital club denied that in a statement yesterday, but today’s giornalaccio rosa dello Sport claims Juventus are still in pole position to sign Pjanic.

It’s believed the Old Lady have already contacted Pjanic’s entourage to inform them that they intend to pay the release clause, and next week the player’s agent will be in Italy.

The newspaper also reports that Allegri personally spoke to the Giallorossi midfielder, assuring him that he intends to make him a key part of his team.

While a move would be controversial, given the rivalry between the two clubs, giornalaccio rosa believes that, at 26-years-old, Pjanic is looking to make a change in his career.

It’s thought the only thing which could change his mind would be a counter-offer from Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain.

Amid Miralem Pjanic rumors, André Gomes reportedly
remains Juventus' No. 1 summer target

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2016/5/16/11679826/andre-gomes-

miralem-pjanic-juventus-valencia-roma-2016-serie-a-la-liga-transfer-rumors

May 16, 2016

As the days go on and we start to enter the time of the year where transfer rumors consume our minds, the gut feeling that Juventus are going to sign a quality central midfielder. That gut feeling isn't because I haven't had dinner yet or anything. Rather, the need to upgrade the quality of options at Max Allegri's disposal is obvious.

(And yes, this was before the news — or non-news depending on how you look at it — about Claudio Marchisio's road to recovery on Sunday.)

There have been rumors flying about Juventus possibly pursuing Roma maestro Miralem Pjanic. There have also been rumors about Juventus trying to close the deal for Valencia's André Gomes. Well, Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio has an update about Juventus' interest and the potential of signing either one of the two talented midfielders. It reads as follows:

Possible Pjanic meeting? Juventus have obvious interest in the player but there aren't any imminent negotiations between the clubs and Roma's asking price is very high. At the moment, Juve's priority is Andrè Gomes of Valencia. Negotiations are ongoing and Juventus hope to close a deal as soon as possible for the Valencia star.

So, by the wording above, this seems to be the midfield transfer target power rankings, according to Di Marzio:

André Gomes.
Maybe Miralem Pjanic, maybe somebody else.
Maybe somebody else, or maybe Miralem Pjanic.

I don't doubt that Juve have some kind of interest in trying to sign Pjanic. How much they are truly interested in negotiating with Roma is still an unknown at this point. Beppe Marotta has said no talks have actually been initiated, and it's not like a lot of what Beppe has said lately has been the opposite of the truth. Gomes has, at least in the press' mind, always been Juventus' No. 1 choice from the start of when rumors picked up steam.

Maybe Juve feel like going for Pjanic, his €38 million buy-out clause and his wealth of Serie A/European experience is the better option. Or maybe they think that they can get Gomes without turning things into an absolutely crazy negotiation period with Valencia that sees crazy amounts of money going to Spain.

I don't know, really. But this ain't the last time we've heard about either of these talented midfielders, that's for sure.

Juve close on Gomes, Pjanic

http://www.football-italia.net/84394/juve-close-gomes-pjanic?

May 16, 2016

Valencia’s Andre Gomes has reportedly said yes to a Juventus move, while Simone Zaza could be used in a bid for Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic.

The two midfielders are believed to be the Bianconeri’s top targets in the transfer market, with negotiations for the duo underway.

Tuttosport reports today that Portugal international Gomes has now accepted a move to the Serie A champions.

The Old Lady will now put pressure on Valencia to allow the midfielder to leave and could be willing to bid €45-50m overall.

As for Pjanic, Il Messaggero writes that Juve don’t want to meet his €38m buyout clause and that director Beppe Marotta has inserted Zaza in a deal.

The striker has been frustrated with his lack of opportunities in Turin this season and could be tempting to the Giallorossi as part of a bid with cash if Edin Dzeko leaves.

Juventus boss denies approaching Pjanic

The Juventus manager dismissed claims he has contacted Roma's Bosnian midfielder
and also insists he was never close to agreeing a switch to Chelsea.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/723/serie-a/2016/05/16/23585912/-?

May 16, 2016

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has denied suggestions he contacted Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic to discuss a potential transfer to the Serie A champions.

Allegri is believed to be keen to add some more creativity to his midfield ahead of next season and has allegedly earmarked the 26-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international as the ideal signing.

However, the coach is adamant he has not approached the Roma star.

"Miralem is one of the best midfielders around on the European pitches, but I categorically deny that I called him," Allegri told Sky Sport.

"I would never even dream of doing so. He is not a Juventus player and is under contract with another club.

"We need just a few changes to improve our team, some quality additions. I have asked [chief executive Giuseppe] Marotta and [sporting director Fabio] Paratici to look for players who know how to play football, but who also have the right attitude."

Allegri was linked with Chelsea before eventually signing a new deal with Juventus but has claimed he did not consider walking away from the Turin giants.

"I was never close to leaving Juventus for another club. I had already decided that I wanted to stay with Juventus during Christmas," he added.

"I asked the club to speed things up in February in order to avoid rumours linking me with other clubs," he added, referring to his contract negotiations.

Juve have won five successive Serie A titles, the last two coming under Allegri, who will face his former club AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final on Saturday.

No truth in Miralem Pjanic transfer rumours - AS Roma

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/2874070/no-truth-in-miralem-pjanic-transfer-rumours-as-roma

May 16, 2016

Roma have rubbished reports they have reached an agreement with Juventus to sell Miralem Pjanic this summer amid growing speculation the Bosnian is heading to Turin.

Mediaset claimed in a report at the weekend that the Bianconeri had satisfied a condition in the player's contract and triggered a release clause, believed to be set at €38million.

However, Roma released a statement on their website in which they said there was no truth to the report.

"AS Roma denies today's report on sportmediaset.it concerning an alleged payment of the buy-out clause in Miralem Pjanic's contract as the story is completely groundless," read the statement.

That is not likely to bring an end to speculation surrounding a summer switch for Pjanic, however, with Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri admitting his interest in the player in an interview with Sky Sport.

"He's one of the best midfielders in Europe," he said. "But I've not called him, I would never allow myself to do that."

Pjanic is believed to be one of Juve's main summer targets, although they are not expected to get too active on the transfer market this summer having just won their fifth straight Serie A title.

Last summer they had to replace the likes of Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman, bringing in Sami Khedira, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic, but their general manager Beppe Marotta recently said he expects it to be a much quieter summer of transfer activity.

Spalletti: ‘Pjanic wants to stay’

http://www.football-italia.net/84414/spalletti-‘pjanic-wants-stay’?

May 16, 2016

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti doesn’t think Miralem Pjanic will join Juventus - “he told me he wants to stay”.

The Bosnian midfielder has a €38m release clause in his contract, and in recent days it has been reported that the Bianconeri are ready to activate it.

However, speaking to reporters after an event to discuss barriers in stadiums, the Giallorossi boss insisted the playmaker would be staying.

“We’ll evaluate things. He said to me that he wants to stay, so if he’s happy, I’m happy,” Spalletti shrugged.

“Roma put on a show, and it’s clear that some of our players are targets for other clubs. But these are the same players I have contact with every day, and they assured me they want to stay at Roma.

“We have to further evaluate it of course, because it happens in football that one club takes a player from another club.

“We’ll evaluate, but the players want to keep wearing our shirt.

“Would I be angry if Pjanic went to Juve? I’m happy if the players are happy.”

Andre Gomes Juve's priority as Marotta
balks at Pjanic release clause

The Bosnian's €38 million price tag is more than the Juve director is willing
to pay, leaving open the possibility of a part-exchange while Gomes remains a top target.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2016/05/17/23612032/-?

May 17, 2016

Valencia's Portuguese prospect Andre Gomes has emerged as a top transfer priority for Juventus in the coming window, while the club maintains interest in Miralem Pjanic despite his daunting valuation.
The Serie A winners are looking to bolster their ranks in the middle of the pitch due to the long-term absence of club icon Claudio Marchisio.

The 30-year-old underwent surgery earlier this year and is expected to be out another six months following a knee injury, leaving Juve short on midfield quality.

Gomes, 22, has impressed at Los Che this season and the Italians are keen to close a deal in the face of interest from the likes of Manchester United. Talks have already opened with the player's agent Jorge Mendes, and the club would be willing to spend up to €30 million on the Portugal international.

With an approach for Gomes already underway and the repatriation of Mario Lemina from Marseille a done deal, Roma star Pjanic nevertheless remains a tempting figure after his brilliant season in 2015-16.

The Bosnian's release clause at the Stadio Olimpico is worth €38 million, but Goal understands that Bianconeri director Giuseppe Marotta is not considering matching that valuation in order to force a sale.

Any deal made with Juve's Serie A rivals will have to come with Roma's consent, and the champions will attempt to open talks in order to gauge the possibility of taking Pjanic for the coming season.

Daniele Rugani, Simone Zaza and Stefano Sturaro could also be used as make-weights in a cash-plus-player deal to tempt the Giallorossi into releasing their midfield lynchpin, should Marotta wish to cut transfer outlay in what promises to be a busy window at Juventus Stadium.

Roma-Juve plot Pjanic swap?

http://www.football-italia.net/84443/roma-juve-plot-pjanic-swap?

May 17, 2016

Roma want Simone Zaza, Daniele Rugani, Stefano Sturaro or Domenico Berardi from Juventus in exchange for Miralem Pjanic.

The Bianconeri have already been linked to the Bosnian in the capital, whose €38m buy-out clause means he cannot be stopped from leaving if he wishes to.

According to Tuttosport, the Lupi are looking into the possibility of organising a swap deal which would bring them one of Juventus' players.

Apparently Zaza is a very real target after the disappointing season by Edin Dzeko, while Rugani and Sturaro seem like difficult objectives, as the Old Lady is reluctant to let them go.

The Giallorossi also have a strong interest in Sassuolo's Berardi, who is expected to head off to Juve this summer.

The Bianconeri may turn him over to Roma as part of the deal, though this operation may also involve a substantial cash payment as the two players are hardly of equal value.

Sabatini: 'If Juve want Pjanic...'

http://www.football-italia.net/84484/sabatini-if-juve-want-pjanic?

May 17, 2016

Roma director Walter Sabatini admits there’s nothing they can do if Juventus pay the €38m clause for Miralem Pjanic.

There have been multiple reports Juve are trying to sign the Bosnian midfielder this summer.

“It would be a delirious thought from Juve, it has nothing to do with me. I didn’t offer Pjanic to Juve,” Sabatini told Pagine Romaniste.

“Pjanic has a release clause. Roma do not negotiate for Pjanic, but if they should activate the clause…”

Does the release clause remain the same for Italian clubs or just overseas ones?

“It’s valid in Italy too.”

If Juventus do pay the €38m, which for a player of Pjanic’s age and quality is really fairly low in today’s market, it will be up to the player whether to accept the move or not.

Radja Nainggolan joked about the situation today and noted: “I told Pjanic if he goes to Juve, he can’t talk to me anymore!”

How Would AS Roma's Miralem Pjanic
Fit into the Juventus Midfield?

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2640416-how-would-as-romas-miralem-pjanic-fit-into-the-juventus-midfield?

May 18, 2016

While a revitalised Napoli were Juventus' closest challengers in the 2015/16 season, the past three Serie A seasons have undoubtedly seen AS Roma establish themselves as the Bianconeri's most stable domestic rival.

But after finishing the previous two years as runners-up, the side from the capital grew stale in the middle of this campaign, prompting them to part ways with French coach Rudi Garcia back in January.

They improved immediately following the appointment of former boss Luciano Spalletti and almost recaptured second place, making it somewhat jarring to see one of their best players linked strongly with a summer move to Juventus.

Yet that is exactly what has happened, with Miralem Pjanic being widely discussed as a potential target for the Turin giants when the transfer window officially opens. Mediaset (h/t Football Italia) reported last week that Juventus were willing to meet a €38 million release clause in the midfielder’s contract, seeking to capture a key member of the Lupi squad.

In identifying the Bosnia native as a player Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri is desperate to sign, Football Italia stated that the Old Lady was likely looking to get ahead of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, all of whom were also interested in Pjanic.

Yet the rumours were strongly denied by Roma, who issued a statement via their own official website insisting the story—which had been fuelled by an interview the man himself had given just a few weeks earlier—was “completely groundless.”

“In the world of football, it is normal that rumours come from the media. It is something that I’m used to,” Pjanic told reporters in Bosnia back in March (h/t giornalaccio rosa World). “However, if a club is really interested in me then I’m sure that they can come to a deal, something could happen.”

OptaPaolo ✔ ‎@OptaPaolo
10+11 - Pjanic is one of 4 midfielders on double fig. of goals (10) & assists (11) in the top-5 Euro leagues. Class.

While it's difficult to understand just how determined Juventus are to strike a deal, the reasons for wanting to sign the 26-year-old are much easier to comprehend. The club may have just won a fifth consecutive Serie A title with a promising young team, but a creative midfielder who can split open the toughest defences would be an invaluable addition.

Pjanic has shown this term that he is capable of that, weighing in with 10 league goals and a league-high 12 assists. Netting on two occasions in the Champions League, his deadly accuracy from set pieces—from which he both scores and creates chances for others—would undoubtedly be a major boost to Juventus.

According to WhoScored.com, the former Olympique Lyonnais star’s average of 65.5 passes per game ranked seventh amongst all Serie A midfielders this term, and he connected with an impressive 84.9 percent of those attempts.

Of that group, only Marek Hamsik (11) had recorded more than four assists, with WhoScored.com also showing the Napoli captain was the only player on the peninsula to create more clear goalscoring opportunities (2.5 per game) than Pjanic (2.4).

The Roma man—who has played both behind the strikers and in a deep-lying playmaker role—still does his share of defensive work too, with WhoScored.com showing he has registered averages of 1.4 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 0.8 clearances per game in 2015/16.

Quick, inventive and competitive, signing Pjanic would likely push Juventus to move to a four-man defence permanently, with him playing in an advanced role in support of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata, whose pace is vital on Champions League nights.

With Claudio Marchisio, Paul Pogba and Sami Khedira behind them—plus Stephan Lichtsteiner and Alex Sandro providing support from the flanks, Allegri would arguably have a team perfectly suited to Europe’s elite competition.

Roma: Pjanic-Gerson plot?

http://www.football-italia.net/84613/roma-pjanic-gerson-plot?

May 20, 2016

Roma might be planning to sell Miralem Pjanic abroad rather than at Juventus, and replace him with Gerson.

The Bosnian midfielder is the most valued of the players in the capital, but his buy-out clause lets him leave for a maximum of €38m if he so chooses.

Juventus are believed to be after Pjanic, meaning that the player's decision on his future will be crucial.

According to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport, Roma are willing to let the midfielder go, under the condition that he leaves for a club abroad rather than Juventus.

They are trying to persuade Pjanic to choose an option abroad, if he does decide to leave, so as to avoid reinforcing a direct Serie A rival.

Their replacement would be Gerson, the 19-year-old wonderkid who was signed a year ago for €18m but will only be joining the Italian team now.

The Brazilian is believed to be a great talent, to the point that Roma had to beat Barcelona and Juventus in a bidding war, but it remains to be seen whether such a young player can fill Pjanic's shoes.

Pjanic: 'If Juventus offer arrives...'

http://www.football-italia.net/84682/pjanic-if-juventus-offer-arrives

May 21, 2016

Miralem Pjanic opened the door to Juventus by admitting “if a formal offer reaches Roma, then we’ll see.”

The Bosnia international spoke to Sada El Balad tv ahead of yesterday’s friendly with Al Ahly and was asked specifically about the Juve interest.

“I still have two years on my contract with Roma. If a formal offer reaches Roma, then we’ll see.”

The Giallorossi have already confirmed there is a €38m release clause on his contract and they can do precious little if someone activates it.

Considering his age and talent, €38m is fairly affordable in today’s transfer market.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Pjanic, but Juve appear to be more determined to pay the full €38m.

Roma would naturally prefer to sell the 25-year-old abroad rather than reinforce a direct Serie A rival.

Spalletti: 'Pjanic to Juve possible'

http://www.football-italia.net/84747/spalletti-pjanic-juve-possible?

May 22, 2016

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti “doesn’t know” if Miralem Pjanic will stay or move to Juventus. “Situations can happen.”

The midfielder has been repeatedly linked with Juve, as there is a €38m clause in his contract.

“Would Juventus be even stronger with Pjanic? Of course they would, as he is a great player,” Spalletti told news agency Ansa during last night’s Juventus-Milan Coppa Italia Final.

“Is Pjanic staying? I don’t know, he can be happy at Roma, but then in football there are situations that can happen, because that’s how football works.”

Roma would prefer to sell the Bosnia international abroad, but if Juventus activate the release clause and agree personal terms, there’s not much they can do to prevent the transfer.

He is also of interest to Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Pjanic in, Caceres out -
Juventus' summer transfer plans

The Italian champions want to make subtle tweaks to their squad as opposed to
wholesale changes, with the midfield the area that they are targeting an improvement in.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2016/05/23/23837712/-?

May 23, 2016

It was a season that once again ended with Juventus reasserting their supremacy in Italy by pulling off a second successive domestic double. Of course, the 2015-16 campaign began with the Old Lady lifting the Supercoppa Italiana, meaning coach Massimiliano Allegri has claimed five trophies in just two seasons at the helm, while a grand total of 10 titles have now been won since Andrea Agnelli was installed as club president.

However, the powers that be at corso Galileo Ferraris remain intent on making that extra jump in class in order to conquer Europe. As a result, there will be further strengthening the squad this summer, with a focus on quality over quantity.

The budget is there to make significant signings but Juventus will continue to operate within strict financial parameters, meaning there will also be departures, as the Bianconeri remain intent on living within their means.

CONFIRMED DEALS

Continuity is the key word at Juve. The focus is on keeping the pillars of the dressing room firmly in place. As a result, Allegri, Andrea Barzagli and Gianluigi Buffon have already penned contract extensions until 2018 - and Patrice Evra is expected to follow suit. However, Martin Caceres' time in Turin is set to come to an end. While the Uruguayan retains the support of Allegri, the defender's campaign has been blighted by injuries and off-field incidents. As a result, his contract will not be renewed and Roma, Napoli, Milan and Inter are all possible destinations, without ruling out the possibility of a move abroad.

Juventus always have one eye on the future and, with that in mind, Simone Andrea Ganz and Matheus Pereira have already been signed, from Como and Corinthians, respectively. Ganz, 22, arrives on a free transfer, having penned a four-year deal with the Bianconeri. Pereira, meanwhile, is considered an excellent midfield prospect and the 18-year-old Brazilian is likely to be sent out on loan to one of Juve's 'partner' clubs - Empoli, Bologna or Sassuolo - to see how he adjusts to the Italian game.

THE ARRIVALS

In addition to the youngsters detailed above, Juve also have some high-profile midfield targets, chief among them Andre Gomes of Valencia and Roma ace Miralem Pjanic. In addition, Sassuolo Domenico Berardi is almost certain to bolster the Juve attack.

Dramatic alterations to the squad are likely to be avoided, with like-for-like changes probable in view of the players set to leave.

THE DEPARTURES

In truth, several players could be about to bid farewell to the Old Lady. The most complicated cases involve Alvaro Morata and Juan Cuadrado. The Spain striker is set to return to the Santiago Bernabeu, with Real Madrid ready to activate the €30 million buy-back option they installed in his contract when he left for Turin. Cuadrado now appears likely to return to Chelsea now that Antonio Conte has been confirmed as the Blues' new boss. The Italy coach is a keen admirer of the Colombian, who will be optimistic that his second spell at Stamford Bridge will go better than his first, under former manager Jose Mourinho. Consequently, it will be difficult for Beppe Marotta to hang on to both players.

Elsewhere, Neto will leave in search of first-team football, while the midfield overhaul could also result in the departures ofRoberto Pereyra, Hernanes and Marco Sturaro. The future of Simone Zaza also remains uncertain, as he remains of great interest to several Premier League clubs.

HOW THE TEAM WILL LOOK

Roma consider Pjanic sale?

http://www.football-italia.net/85128/roma-consider-pjanic-sale?

May 30, 2016

Roma may choose to sell Miralem Pjanic now to avoid an excessive salary raise, with Juventus first in line to buy him.

Speculation continues to surround the Giallorossi's key market figures, with the Bosnian and Radja Nainggolan at the centre of most discussions.

While the directors in the capital have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of selling Pjanic, La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport reports of a scenario that could make them change their minds.

Apparently Pjanic is not willing to renew his contract unless his salary is raised very substantially, to a point that the Lupi can't really afford to pay.

With his current deal expiring in 2018, it might therefore make sense to cash in on him now rather than next summer, when other clubs could take advantage of the short remainder of his contract to negotiate a cheaper price.

While the priority would be to sell Pjanic abroad, Roma may well turn to Juventus if they cannot find a better deal. Apparently the Bianconeri are willing to offer up to €35m along with one between Simone Zaza, Roberto Pereyra, and Kwadwo Asamoah.

Juventus go all out for Champions League
with Alves & Pjanic pursuits

After watching an average but experienced Real Madrid side claim an 11th European Cup
on Saturday, the Bianconeri now know they can conquer the continent by signing proven winners.

May 31, 2016

There's an old saying in football: 'You don't play well in finals; you win them'. Saturday's Champions League showdown at San Siro was a perfect case in point. Real Madrid were the victors - yet there is no way that they could lay claim to being the best team in Europe.

Atletico beat two better sides in the last eight and the semis. Real weren't even the better side on the night. They are least impressive winners of the Champions League since Chelsea in 2012.

To some sensitive souls, that might sound like the kind of bitterness propagated by the 50,000 clowns who signed a petition to have Los Blancos stripped of their first five European Cups, but it's merely a conclusion based on the fact that Real went through the entire tournament without having to face a single former winner of the continental competition.

Also, at no point during the knockout stage - the supposed business end of the Champions League - did they have to take on a domestic title winner, either from this season or last. Their performance in the final was average at best.

On an individual level, Sergio Ramos once again proved a man for the big occasion, Casemiro underlined both his worth and importance to Zinedine Zidane's side, while Gareth Bale ran himself into ground. However, while it was nice of Cristiano Ronaldo to turn up for the final spot-kick in the penalty shootout, in truth, Madrid's star men did not shine at San Siro.

Despite that, they found a way to win. Just as they had two years ago against the same situation. Also, this was their 11th European Cup triumph as a club. Madrid know how to win and, as Ronaldo shrewdly pointed out afterwards: "Our team showed more experience and we showed it by scoring all the penalties."

Experience and belief count for a lot when it comes to conquering Europe, which is precisely why Juventus are presently on the verge of signing both Dani Alves and Javier Mascherano from Barcelona.

The Bianconeri could hardly be accused of lacking winners. Several members of their squad have won five successive Scudetti, as well as back-to-back doubles. However, they have fallen short in Europe for the past two seasons.

However, as former Juve striker Gianluca Vialli told Goal on Monday: "They deservedly got to the final last year and they only lost to an unbeatable Barcelona side. This year, they went out to Bayern Munich but they were 30 seconds from knocking them out. So, I think that they are there or thereabouts, alongside the rest of the top clubs in Europe."

Indeed, it was difficult not to look at Saturday's final and suspect that the Bianconeri would have beaten Real; just as they did in the semis 12 months ago. Consequently, Juve's summer transfer strategy is about quality rather than quantity. Their primary concern is on recruiting players capable of taking that one final step towards Champions League glory. They want winners.

In that sense, the likely acquisitions of Dani Alves and Mascherano make sense. The pair may be 33 and 31, respectively, but they have lifted five Champions League trophies between them. Furthermore, while Alves may no longer be as dynamic as he once was, he remains the most dangerous attacking right-back in the world. Given he is likely to be entrusted with a wing-back role in Turin, with the best back three in the game stationed behind him, it is easy to envisage him flourishing with even less defensive responsibilities than he is used to at Barca.

Mascherano would also be reinvigorated by a move to Juventus Stadium. The Argentine wants to return to his original defensive midfield role - and the Bianconeri are offering him the opportunity to do just that. Besides, regardless of his position, Mascherano still plays the game with the kind of intensity and drive that are considered prerequisites at Juve. He looks a perfect fit for the Old Lady.

Of course, the same could also be said of Miralem Pjanic. While Juve are intent on adding even more experience to their ranks, they also covet Pjanic's precision passing and set-piece skills. The Roma ace struck 10 times in Serie A last season - on four occasions from free-kicks - and created 12 goals. He would represent an ideal addition to a Juve midfield still coming to terms with the loss of Andrea Pirlo, whose provided poise and dead-ball deliveries of the highest order.

Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri is a huge admirer of the Bosnian but, as it stands, the Italian champions remain reluctant to meet his €37 million buy-out clause.

However, given Juve are poised to land the extra little bit of experience they are presently lacking at very low cost, they may ultimately decide that Pjanic's fee is a price worth paying. After all, as Ronaldo's Madrid underlined on Saturday at San Siro, composure and experience are precious commodities in the modern game. By signing Pjanic, Alves and Mascherano, Juve would be acquiring a healthy mix of both.

Manchester United have made Miralem Pjanic their number one transfer target, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The Roma midfielder has also attracted interest from Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, but Jose Mourinho is hopeful of persuading Pjanic to join him at Old Trafford.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Roma are unwilling to sell the Bosnian playmaker, however.

Juve look for Pjanic solution

http://www.football-italia.net/85489/juve-look-pjanic-solution

Jun 7, 2016

Juventus are trying to get to Roma's Miralem Pjanic differently than by the €38m purchase clause, say reports.

The Giallorossi directors have often repeated that they have no intention of selling their star playmaker, but President James Pallotta himself was forced to admitthey couldn't do anything if a buyer activated the clause.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri are currently looking for alternative solutions that would allow them to sign Pjanic without a full €38m payment.

Specifically, sporting director Beppe Marotta is attempting to negotiate a deal that would involve an exchange of players rather than a pure cash transaction.

It remains to be seen whether Roma would accept anything other than cash for Pjanic, as they currently need to make a profit on their transfer market in order to meet the Financial Fair Play requirements.

Report: Juventus 'confident' they can sign Miralem Pjanic this summer

http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2016/6/7/11874758/

juventus-roma-miralem-pjanic-2016-serie-a-summer-transfer-rumors?

Jun 7, 2016

As much as we've heard over the last week or so about Juventus signing Dani Alves, it's been the exact when it comes to some of the other big names linked to a move to the club this summer. Maybe that includes players like André Gomes and Miralem Pjanic, or maybe it involves some of the lesser names that Juve have been linked to over the past month or so. (Or maybe it's all of them; feel free to decide on your own.)

But, according to some, that doesn't necessarily mean that Juventus' chase to sign said names that haven't been discussed much lately are completely out of the picture. Oh, on the contrary...

Juventus is confident they can acquire Pjanic, while also trying to save a few million from his €38 million exit clause, perhaps by inserting a player in the deal. While Juventus has an agreement in principle with the player's agent, Roma does not want to give discounts on the price.

Juventus is aware that the price of Pjanic's clause will go down next season, so the Bosnian player's contract will also have to be renegotiated with his entourage.

(Source: Gianluca Di Marzio)

So, confidence and optimism about getting a deal done is good — especially when it comes to the pursuit of a player of Pjanic's caliber. But much like the things we've heard regarding the potential acquisition of Gomes, the big-money price seems to be the ultimate sticking point between a deal for a seriously talented player and shaking our heads as another deal falls through.

Who knows what truly is the hierarchy of priorities when it comes to which midfielder Juventus wants to sign this summer. There has been talk that the €38 million buy-out clause will be a sticking point with Juventus and that Roma aren't going to budge for anything lower. Honestly, I wouldn't expect them to change that stance. This is Pjanic we're talking about here, a player who could make one of their No. 1 rivals a vastly better team than they already are.

And there's no doubting that Juventus would be great improved if they were to sign Pjanic this summer. So let's turn all of that reported confidence into some actual developments, folks. It sure would be nice.

Roma open to Juve-Pjanic

http://www.football-italia.net/85528/roma-open-juve-pjanic

Jun 8, 2016

Roma are now open to discussing a sale of Miralem Pjanic to Juventus that would not involve the €38m clause.

The Bianconeri's efforts to find a less expensive solution to get their hands on the Giallorossi midfielder had already been reported by Italian media.

Now the Gazzetta dello Sport believes that it is not just Juventus who are coming forward, but Roma themselves are willing to listen to their offers.

Apparently this is because the €38m clause, if activated, would see a full 15 per cent (€5.7m) of the payment go directly to Pjanic himself, and not to the club.

It would thus be more convenient for the Lupi to negotiate a deal that does not involve the clause, at a price a little over €30m.

Juventus are willing to match that, and add one of their players to boot. Among the candidates to join Luciano Spalletti's teams there are Simone Zaza, Roberto Pereyra and Kwadwo Asamoah.

Roma's transfer strategy changed very suddenly as defender Antonio Rudiger, who was meant to be sold for substantial amounts, injured himself in trainingwith Germany and saw his value plummet. It now seems more likely that his club would sell Pjanic in an effort to find capital.
