  1. Ex-Napoli star is sure Juventus will dominate Serie A next season Former Napoli star Faouzi Ghoulam has expressed confidence that Juventus will return to top form next season as they continue to adapt to the tactical system implemented by new manager Thiago Motta. ............ Juventus boasts some of the finest talents in Italy, and while Motta is content with the team’s development so far, Ghoulam, who had a successful career in Italy with Napoli, believes that the team might not be in the running for this season’s Serie A title. “I think Juventus will tear everyone apart, not this year, but starting next year. First of all, because it’s Juventus; it’s a very important club in Italy and cannot remain at these levels, as we all know,” Ghoulam said. ............ . 3. Real reason behind Koopmeiners’ struggles against Milan revealed A report in the Italian media reveals that Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners took the pitch against Milan despite being ill. ............ Moreover, Koopmeiners was specifically chastised for his display, receiving ratings between 5 and 5.5/10. An Italian newspaper went on to describe him as a distant relative of the player who enlightened Bergamo over the past few years. The Dutchman found it hard to control the ball, squandering possession on several occasions with a weak first touch. ............ The 26-year-old was suffering from a fever. He had a body temperature of 38°C, which explains why he seemed out of sorts. Despite his rough condition, Koopmeiners insisted on taking part in the match as he felt his team needs his presence, especially amidst the attacking injury crisis. In hindsight, one might say that Juventus would have been better off with an alternative option, like Timothy Weah, but the Netherlands international’s resiliency remains admirable. ............ . 4. Inter legend backs Del Piero for FIGC presidency: “He would be perfect” Legendary Inter Milan defender Giuseppe Bergomi would love to see Alessandro Del Piero assume the role of FIGC president. The Italian Football Federation will hold an election on February 3rd at the end of Gabriele Gravina’s term. It remains to be seen if the incumbent president will be running for another term, as he could be hampered by his ongoing legal troubles. ............ Over the last couple of days, the iconic Juventus captain has suddenly emerged as a potential candidate for the role. Moreover, it has been claimed that the former Italy international could announce his candidacy on Wednesday, while Lazio president Claudio Lotito was the one to put Del Piero’s name forward. The Biancocelesti patron is a longtime foe of Gravina, and leads a large coalition that includes a host of Serie A clubs. For his part, Bergomi doesn’t need any convincing, as he believes the Juventus all-time leading goalscorer would be the right person for the role. ............ “I know Alex well because we work together at Sky. I know how he thinks, I know his vision for football. He is a serious person who always wants to do well,” said the 1982 World Cup winner. “If it’s true that he’s running for the FIGC presidency, it would be great, because we need people with substance and culture. It would be perfect. I would welcome the idea. At 50 years of age, he is ready for the role.” ............ . 5. Juventus & Aston Villa could also become market rivals – Both clubs vying Man United wantaway Aston Villa and Juventus are preparing to lock horns on Wednesday in a vital Champions League contest, but the two clubs’ rivalry could also extend to the transfer market. The Villains could be interested in Joshua Zirkzee who is desperate to end his misery at Manchester United as as soon as possible. The 23-year-old reached stardom for his exploits at Bologna under Thiago Motta last season, but has been unable to replicate his form following his big-money switch to Old Trafford. ............ Therefore, Zirkzee has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A through the gates of Juventus. Even though the club’s football director Cristiano Giuntoli insisted that the Bianconeri won’t sign a new striker in January as long as Arkadiusz Milik completes his return from injury, many observers are doubting this statement, expecting the Old Lady to pull off a move to strengthen the attack, especially if an inviting opportunity presents itself. ............ So despite Aston Villa’s interest, the source identifies Juventus as the favorites in the race to sign the Netherlands international. After all, the player himself has reportedly requested a return to Italy where he still enjoys great esteem, while a reunion with Motta would be the icing on the cake. ............ . 6. PSG’s Milan Škriniar agrees to join Juventus PSG centre-back Milan Škriniar (29) has agreed to join Juventus. The Slovakia international has fallen down the pecking order at Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens with club captain Marquinhos and Willian Pacho partnering up most of the time at the back. With Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Hernandez returning from injury and Lucas Beraldo also part of the PSG squad, Škriniar is expected to remain out of favor with the Ligue 1 champions. ............ Škriniar is aware of his current situation at PSG and is now open to moving away from the Ligue 1 champions. The outlet adds that the Slovakia international has agreed on principle to join Thiago Motta’s Juventus and that talks are already underway between the two sides. Considering Škriniar is tied down to a contract set to expire in 2028, Les Parisiens are in a favorable position to garder a significant fee from the center-back’s sale with Juventus looking to offload some of their players to PSG to facilitate Škriniar’s switch to the Allianz Stadium. . 7. Thiago Motta asked to be reunited with Bologna defender at Juventus Juventus coach Thiago Motta has reportedly identified his old Bologna pupil Jhon Lucumi as the right profile to sign in January. The Bianconeri are preparing to embark on a mission to add a new defender to the fold in January after losing Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal to season-ending ACL injuries. Hence, Motta has been operating with a depleted defensive department, but reinforcement shall arrive when the market opens. ............ The source analyzes the profiles linked with a move to Turin, beginning with Milan Skriniar. The 29-year-old was supposedly desperate to leave Paris Saint-Germain due to his lack of playing time. However, he’s now seeing more minutes under Luis Enrique, so his fate has become unclear. ............ Nevertheless, Motta is reportedly seeking a reunion with Lucumi. While the Juventus manager trusts the choices of the club’s Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli, he suggested the Colombian as the right man for the job. ............ Lucumi’s contract with the Emilians runs until June 2026. Last summer, Bologna requested 15 million euros for his services when Milan came knocking on the door before eventually opting to sign Strahinja Pavlovic. Hence, Juventus should expect a similar asking price. . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/thiago-motta-asked-to-be-reunited-with-bologna-defender-at-juventus/
  8. Man United ask for Juventus midfielder in exchange for Zirkzee A report in the Italian press suggests a sensational swap deal might be in the makings between Juventus and Manchester United. Over the past few weeks, the Old Lady has been heavily linked with unsettled Man Utd striker Joshua Zirkzee. The Bianconeri were hoping to reunite the Dutchman with Thiago Motta last summer following their prosperous collaboration at Bologna over the previous two campaigns, but the Red Devils won the race for his services. ............ But while Juventus are reportedly looking to sign the striker on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, the Red Devils may have a different plan. According to journalist Massimo Pavan, Manchester United have asked for Douglas Luiz in return to Zirkzee. Similar to the Dutch attacker, the Brazilian has also been struggling to find his feet after changing leagues in the summer. Prior to his injury, the former Aston Villa man was starving for playing time at Juventus, only making two appearances as a starter since his arrival. ............ . 10. “They played badly” – Juventus legend unimpressed by the club’s display against Milan Legendary Juventus midfielder Marco Tardelli was hardly pleased with the club’s performance against Milan on Saturday night. The Bianconeri entered San Siro without a proper striker, as Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik both succumbed to injuries. Therefore, Thiago Motta decided to rely on Weston McKennie, a central midfielder by trade, as a centre-forward, supported by Teun Koopmeiners. ............ Even though Motta defended his team’s display in his post-match comments, the vast majority of the fans weren’t impressed, and Tardelli came out to echo their sentiments. The 1982 World Cup hero admits playing without a genuine striker complicated matters for the Bianconeri, but it still isn’t enough to justify the hollow display. “Juventus were missing Vlahovic and it was obvious. Milik wasn’t there either, so there’s a difficult situation upfront at the moment,” noted the 70-year-old in his appearance on Domenica Sportiva. “Having said that, Juventus played badly,” insisted the club legend. ............ “Milan played badly as well, so there was nothing to report in particular. We expected much more on the pitch. “Juventus may have settled for a draw due to their current situation, but the Rossoneri instead threw away another opportunity.” ............ “Why Juve started the season with only one striker? They had two. But they probably didn’t find the one the coach was seeking.” . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/they-played-badly-juventus-legend-unimpressed-by-the-clubs-display-against-milan/
  11. Juventus icon named as surprising candidate for FIGC presidency A report in the Italian media claimed Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero could emerge as a potential candidate for the FIGC presidency. Over the last few months, a major dialogue has been ongoing regarding the future of Italian football. Many believe that it’s time for current FIGC president Gabriele Gravina to make way for fresh faces who can kickstart a genuine reform, beginning with the top of the echelon. ............ Del Piero’s candidacy has now surfaced on the scene, as several voters are seeking a clean-cut profile who is endeared by the public as well as the sporting community. He is also described as a true gentleman by friends and peers. Therefore, the universally beloved Juventus icon has been suggested as the right man for the job, despite his lack of experience at the executive level. Del Piero, who recently turned 50, spent the bulk of his playing career at Juventus. He remained loyal to the cause when the club was relegated to Serie B amidst the Calciopoli scandal. ............ The legendary captain had also publicly offered his services to Juventus when former club president Andrea Agnelli resigned along with the rest of the board in November 2022, but never earned a call to join the newly established hierarchy. ............ . 12. Journalist insists Juventus could sell Fagioli – Chelsea youngster suggested as replacement Italian journalist Paolo Paganini claims Juventus could part ways with Nicolo Fagioli in January, and that his replacement might arrive from the Premier League. Over the past few days, there have been conflicting reports over the future of the Italy international who has been relegated to the bench in recent weeks, with Thiago Motta favoring Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram in the double pivot. ............ For his part, Paganini insists a mid-season exit could be on the cards, as PSG’s interest in the 23-year-old is real. He believes that Juventus must raise funds in order to sign a new defender in January. “There are some important exits at Juventus, one above all Fagioli, who should also be sold for budgetary reasons, probably to Paris Saint-Germain,” claimed the journalist. ............ Nevertheless, Paganini believes the Bianconeri would search the market for a new midfielder if they end up splitting paths with Fagioli. Hence, the transfer market expert suggests two potential replacements. The first is Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei who isn’t finding any space with Enso Maresca this season despite their previous collaboration at Leicester City. The 21-year-old spent time at Inter’s youth academy before being snapped up by the Blues. The second is Morten Frendrup, a 23-year-old Danish midfielder who was a true revelation at Genoa last season. ............ . 13. Compagnoni says Juventus has a tactical dilemma with Koopmeiners Teun Koopmeiners’ move from Atalanta to Juventus was expected to be a major boost for the Bianconeri, especially after his stunning performance against them at the Allianz Stadium last season. That display caught the eye of Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, who made sure to bring the Dutch midfielder to the club. Koopmeiners had impressed at Atalanta, contributing significantly to their successful Europa League campaign the previous term. However, his transition to Juventus has not gone as smoothly as many had hoped. Since arriving, Koopmeiners has struggled to adapt to Juventus’ system and has yet to make a significant impact on the field. ............ Maurizio Compagnoni expressed concerns over Juventus’ tactical use of Koopmeiners, stating that the club is unsure how to best deploy him. He explained: “At Juve there’s a tactical problem of placement: Koopmeiners. Koopmeiners is a formidable player, but at Juve, at this Juve he struggles to find a place. They imagined him as a very offensive player, but he’s not. Just because someone scores a lot of goals doesn’t necessarily mean he’s an offensive player.” ............ With the club struggling in some areas, his ability to settle into a defined role is crucial to their success, especially as they aim for a top-four finish. ............ . 14. Thuram names the midfielders who help him at Juve Khephren Thuram delivered a standout performance in Juventus’ goalless draw against AC Milan, earning widespread praise as the Bianconeri’s best midfielder on the night. Since his summer arrival at the Allianz Stadium, the Frenchman has steadily adapted to the demands of the club, showing glimpses of his immense potential. Thuram’s performance against Milan demonstrated not only his technical ability but also his growing maturity and tactical awareness. ............ One of the key factors in Thuram’s development has been the trust placed in him by Juventus manager Thiago Motta. The young midfielder has steadily grown in confidence and is beginning to emerge as a pivotal player for the team. After the match, Thuram reflected on his evolving role at the club: “We are many good players, there is Manu who helps me a lot and Fagio who always plays well.” This humility and acknowledgement of his teammates underline his team-oriented mindset, which complements his individual talent. Thuram also commented on the result of the match, stating: “Difficult match against a great team. The draw is not a good result, but that’s okay.” ............ The 22-year-old is beginning to step out of the shadow of his brother, Marcus Thuram, who has been making waves at Inter Milan. While comparisons are inevitable, Khephren’s performance against Milan shows that he is carving out his own identity as a dynamic and dependable midfielder. If Thuram continues on this trajectory, he could soon become a key leader in Juventus’ midfield ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/thuram-names-the-midfielders-who-help-him-at-juve/
  15. Fofana reveals Milan fear of Juventus solidity Youssouf Fofana confessed Milan were afraid of the Juventus defensive solidity at San Siro, noting that ‘if they scored a goal, the game was over.’ The Rossoneri were on home turf and against a side decimated by injury problems, yet they had fewer shots on goal and less possession in this dire 0-0 draw. ............ “It was like a chess match. There weren’t many scoring opportunities and it remained a battle in the middle of the park. It was the kind of match I didn’t want to play,” said Fofana in his press conference. ............ “Every time Juve lost the ball, they all ran back behind the ball to close the spaces. If they scored a goal, the game was over. We tried and managed to keep a balance. OK, we are Milan and playing on home turf, but we also must remember who we are up against.” ............ . 16. Juventus Player Ratings vs Milan: Gatti & Co Hold Firm in Forgettable Contest ............ Juventus (4-2-3-1) Michele Di Gregorio – 6 ............ Nicolò Savona – 6.5 The Juventus youngster was non-existent in the attacking third, but his main task was to limit Rafael Leao’s threat, so he can be pleased with his solid display. Pierre Kalulu – 6.5 Aside from giving away a freekick in a dangerous position for a needless foul on Alvaro Morata, the Frenchman showcased his worth against his parent club. Federico Gatti – 7 The Italy international received a dubious yellow card in the first half, but he didn’t seem to hamper his display, as he proved to be a rock at the back. Andrea Cambiaso – 6 ............ Manuel Locatelli – 6 ............ Khephren Thuram – 6.5 The Frenchman tried his best to raise the tempo for Juventus and push forward, but was impeded by the elements surrounding him. Francisco Conceicao – 5.5 Aside from a few flicks and tricks, the Portuguese couldn’t quite leave his mark on the encounter. Found life difficult against Theo Hernandez. Weston McKennie – 5.5 ............ Kenan Yildiz – 6.5 The Turkish teenager seemed to be the one Juventus player who could pull a rabbit out of the hat, but his positive display on the left wing wasn’t enough to prevent what seemed to be an inevitable stalemate. Teun Koopmeiners – 4.5 A poor performance from the Dutchman who gave away possession with a poor first touch on several occasions. His unconventional position certainly didn’t help his case, but Juventus fans have been expecting much more from their top summer signing. 17. Pierre Kalulu insists it is good not to lose at AC Milan Pierre Kalulu reflected positively on the 0-0 draw between Juventus and AC Milan, suggesting that while it wasn’t the ideal result, it was still valuable given the quality of the opposition. The stalemate ensures Juventus remain unbeaten in Serie A, while Milan’s title hopes continue to face challenges as they drop more points. ............ Kalulu, currently on loan, acknowledged the significance of the result. He remarked: “Important point, against a quality opponent. We could have done more to win, but it was away, and when we don’t lose it’s good to advance.” He further noted the unique atmosphere of playing in a stadium with such history and prestige, adding: “It’s not a game like the others, there’s always an extra emotion. I have to be a professional, but in this stadium it’s something different.” ............ As Serie A continues, the pressure mounts for both clubs. Juventus will take confidence from their unbeaten run, but they understand that victories, not draws, are essential to close the gap at the top of the standings. Milan, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly if they are to remain serious title contenders. . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/pierre-kalulu-insists-it-is-good-not-to-lose-at-ac-milan/
  18. Thiago Motta: ‘Valuable point for Juventus against Milan’ Thiago Motta admits Juventus were not at their best in the 0-0 draw away to Milan, but all things considered it is ‘a valuable point’ and performance. The Bianconeri came into San Siro forced to completely revamp amid an injury crisis, including Dusan Vlahovic, Arkadiusz Milik and Nico Gonzalez, leaving them with no available strikers. They used Teun Koopmeiners as an unorthodox False 9 supported by Weston McKennie in the trequartista role, so can consider this 0-0 at San Siro to be a positive result in the circumstances. “I am satisfied with the work we did defensively against a team that was allowed very little, practically nothing,” Thiago Motta told DAZN. ............ “I think overall a point is valuable, can give a sense of consistency, and I am glad to see a team that behaves like a big club. I am proud of my players after a good performance in our circumstances.” ............ This means Juventus remain unbeaten in Serie A this season and register another clean sheet, but they have now drawn seven of their 13 games and are three points worse off than last season. “It is inevitable people will make comparisons to last season, but also impossible because so much has changed,” continued Thiago Motta. “We should be pleased with what we have done so far, but we’re not even halfway through the campaign. Now we need to keep going and improve many elements, knowing we’ve been on the right path for a while.” Thiago Motta becomes only the fifth Juventus coach in history to avoid losing any of his first 13 Serie A matches in charge. ............ “Khephren has been improving for a while. I don’t like to talk about individuals, but the performance we saw today showed such improvement, mentality and strength, both on and off the ball. He is a player who can become very important and he is growing with such pace. “I can say that because I know his values and mentality, so I am sure he will have a fantastic career path. Since the first day, he has always been eager to give more and we are the ones who must tell him to calm down, get some rest. This is the kind of player a coach always wants in his squad.” . Federico Gatti – 7.5 Solid at the back, playing a key role in Juventus keeping a clean sheet. Pierre Kalulu – 7.5 Impressed with another fine performance against his parent club, effectively limiting Milan’s attacking influence. Andrea Cambiaso – 7.0 ............ Manuel Locatelli – 7.5 The captain led by example with a strong defensive showing in front of the backline. Francisco Conceição – 7.0 ............ Teun Koopmeiners – 6.5 Struggled to create chances and missed the presence of Dusan Vlahović to link up with in attack. Kenan Yildiz – 7.5 The brightest attacking spark for Juventus, consistently looking the most likely to score. 20. Juventus 0 - AC Milan 0: Initial reaction and random observations It was the kind of night that suggested maybe playing with a natural No. 9 on the field is better than not. After the opening 45 minutes of Juventus’ second trip to the San Siro in less than a month Saturday night, the only thought running through my head was basically this: “It sure would be nice if this team had an actual No. 9 available right now.” Of course, I knew that wasn’t possible considering both of the actual No. 9s that Juve have on their roster were back in Turin watching on TV rather than being in Milan. ............ Those fireworks that we saw in Juve’s first trip to San Siro this season were far from replicated Saturday night. As much as the Derby d’Italia was total chaos from both sides for the majority of the 90 minutes last month, the same won’t come close to being said in Juventus’ scoreless draw against Milan. There were eight goals combined between the two sides in that thrilling draw with Inter, but in this draw the number of shots on goal didn’t even reach half that number. It was, essentially, two teams looking completely off their game and combining for a high-profile matchup that didn’t come close to meeting the quality of yesteryear. We knew Juventus were up against it considering the lack of any natural No. 9 — and they very much played like it. ............ The scoring chances were few and far between. There were many more instances of misplaced passes and bad turnovers than there were of beautiful interplay and combinations that led to scoring opportunities. It was, really, a night to forget for a lot of Juve’s players. But, at the same time, considering what they were up against and the circumstances they entered Saturday night’s game under, is it hard to be totally upset with how things played out? On the micro level, a draw at the San Siro when you’ve got no No. 9 available and you’re asking the guy who usually plays in the No. 10 role to suddenly do something he hasn’t done all season, it’s a tough deal and a draw certainly isn’t the worst result. ............ RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS Juventus players out due to injury against Milan: 7. Juventus players on the bench against Milan: 7. Of the five outfield players on the bench for Juventus against Milan, Thiago Motta ended up using four of them. Poor Jonas Rouhi, he was left on the bench and couldn’t join his friends. In short, this was not a very well-played game by either side. Just so many mistakes. So, so many. ............ I feel like it’s pretty safe to say one of the few good things to come out of this night was the continued improvements of Khephren Thuram. Amidst all of the sloppiness around the field, Thuram really showed that he’s starting to settle in as he’s seen his playing time become much more consistent. He was an absolute monster on the defensive side of things, and the 1,000 tackles he made are proof of that. (OK, it’s actually six, but it felt like so much more than that.) This is the player that Cristiano Giuntoli was so eager to sign this past summer. ............ It didn’t take long to see just how uncomfortable Koopmeiners was in his makeshift role Saturday night. Sometimes he was drifting too wide. Other times he was drifting too deep. Some of the time, he was both too wide and too deep. Unsurprisingly, it was a guy who hadn’t really played this role being thrust into it and not totally being sure of things. It was just a night in which pretty much all of the good things that Koopmeiners does well just were thrown off their axis. ............ In conclusion, I would like Vlahovic’s hamstring to get better so that he can play against Aston Villa on Wednesday night. It sure would be nice to have an actual striker in there again. But that’s just one guy’s opinion on things. 21. Juventus maintains unbeaten run with goalless draw at AC Milan Juventus and AC Milan played out a goalless draw in what proved to be a tight and tactical encounter this evening. The match showcased moments of promise from both sides but ultimately lacked the clinical finishing required to separate them. ............ Kenan Yildiz, one of Juve’s brightest young talents, also came close to opening the scoring but was unable to convert his chance. Juve’s counter-attacks looked menacing, and they often seemed the more dangerous side during the first half-hour. Milan, meanwhile, created some promising moments of their own, with Emerson Royal missing a key opportunity right before halftime. ............ As the game progressed into its final stages, Thiago Motta introduced fresh legs in the form of Samuel Mbangula, Timothy Weah, and Nicolò Fagioli in an attempt to tilt the balance. Yet, the defences of both teams remained resolute, leaving the match to end without a goal. While Juventus may rue their inability to capitalise on their chances, the draw keeps them unbeaten in Serie A. Milan, on the other hand, will view this as a missed opportunity to solidify their position among the league’s elite. Both teams will need to sharpen their attacking edges as they look to maintain momentum in their campaigns. .
