  1. Gigi Maifredi explains how Juventus can get the most from Koopmeiners Former Juventus coach Gigi Maifredi has weighed in on the club’s struggles to maximise Teun Koopmeiners’ potential following his summer move from Atalanta. The Dutch midfielder was one of the standout players in Serie A during his time with La Dea, where his contributions were instrumental in their success, including their Europa League triumph last season. This earned him a high-profile transfer to Juventus, but his performances so far have left much to be desired. ............ “I think Motta wants to do a copy-paste of what we saw in Bologna but it’s impossible. He’s missing Calafiori, who sets up from the back, someone like Ferguson, and especially Zirkzee, who received the ball and then invented something. Koopmeiners is someone who has no role, he has to find space; if you cage him, he becomes someone who produces less.” ............ These comments underscore the complexity of Koopmeiners’ situation. At Atalanta, he thrived in a system designed to leverage his unique qualities, but Juventus has yet to find the right formula. His potential remains undeniable, but the onus is on Motta and his coaching staff to unlock it. ............ . 2.
  3. Gleison Bremer will be in the stands when Juventus takes on Bologna this weekend Gleison Bremer’s injury has kept him out of action since the early part of the season, depriving Juventus of one of their most reliable defensive pillars. The Brazilian, known for his commanding presence and ability to marshal the defence, has been instrumental in Juventus’ recent successes. His absence has created a void in the backline that has been difficult to fill, as Juventus initially struggled to maintain their defensive stability without him. Before his injury, Bremer was a critical component of the team, anchoring the defence with exceptional positioning, tackling, and aerial prowess. Juventus’ defensive record under his guidance was one of the best in Serie A, and his contributions were evident in their ability to thwart opponents’ attacks consistently. ............ To address the gap left by Bremer’s absence, Juventus plans to strengthen their defensive ranks during the January transfer window. A new signing would provide much-needed depth while the team waits for Bremer’s eventual return. Despite his injury, Bremer remains a fan favourite, and his importance to the squad has not diminished. Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on his recovery, and many will be delighted by the news of his upcoming public appearance. Bremer is set to attend Juventus’ Serie A match against Bologna this weekend as a special guest. His presence at the Allianz Stadium will undoubtedly uplift the spirits of supporters and teammates alike. While his return to the pitch is still some way off, his recovery is reportedly progressing well, and the club is optimistic about his eventual comeback. ............ . 4. The Super League idea is set to get another facelift. Should Juventus return? Juventus has been one of the more notable advocates of the European Super League project, standing alongside clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona in their initial allegiance to the idea. However, since the project’s collapse in 2021, the Bianconeri have rejoined the European Club Association (ECA), signalling a return to UEFA’s fold and, at least publicly, an abandonment of Super League ambitions. ............ Despite the setbacks, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has not relinquished the vision of the Super League. Following a ruling from the European Court of Justice, which limited UEFA’s monopoly over European football, proponents of the Super League have reportedly been revising their plans. Pérez is working on a revamped version of the competition, which will feature a more merit-based structure rather than the previously criticised closed league system. This new approach could entice hesitant clubs, including PSG and Bayern Munich, to join the project. For Juventus, the prospect of rejoining such a venture remains uncertain. While the potential financial benefits could be tempting, the club’s recent return to the ECA suggests they are currently prioritising stability within the UEFA framework. Entering a revived Super League would carry significant risks, particularly given the lingering scepticism about its viability and widespread fan opposition. ............ . 5. Preview: Juventus vs. Bologna - prediction, team news, lineups After yet another draw last weekend, Juventus fell further off the pace in Serie A's title race, so they will seek maximum points from Saturday's clash with Bologna. While Juve were denied victory in stoppage time by lowly Lecce, their revived visitors have won in both league and cup over the past week, scoring seven goals without reply. Match preview ............ Unbeaten in 24 league meetings with Bologna - winning 17 times in the process - Juventus will hope to continue in that vein on Saturday evening, before facing Premier League champions Manchester City next week. Given Juve's recent propensity for stalemates, the sides have fittingly drawn all three of their most recent encounters, including a six-goal thriller in Bologna last season, when the away side fought back from three goals behind. ............ Team News Amid a long series of injuries, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Juventus this weekend, as young full-back Nicolo Savona and top scorer Dusan Vlahovic should be back in the squad following layoffs. The latter has scored six league goals against Bologna to date, though his last Serie A strike from open play at the Allianz Stadium came back in February - 12 games ago. Back-up striker Arkadiusz Milik (knee) and the South American quartet of Juan Cabal, Bremer (both ACL), Nico Gonzalez (thigh) and Douglas Luiz (muscular) are all unavailable, but Weston McKennie may be back in action after missing the trip down to Lecce with a muscular problem. ............ Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Danilo, Kalulu, Gatti, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic Bologna possible starting lineup: Skorupski; Posch, Beukema, Lucumi, Miranda; Freuler, Moro; Ndoye, Odgaard, Dominguez; Castro We say: Juventus 1-0 Bologna Bologna have won three of their first seven away games this season, but stubborn Juventus are one of a trio of teams still unbeaten across Europe's top five leagues. It should be a close-fought contest in Turin, with Thiago Motta just finding a way to defeat his old club and end Juve's wait for a win. . 6. Probable Juventus lineup vs Bologna: Vlahovic set for immediate start Juventus bomber Dusan Vlahovic is reportedly warming up his engines, as he could be selected in the starting lineup against Bologna. The 24-year-old was chastised by a section of the supporters and the media for some lackluster displays, and he even made things worse with some curious statements while on international duty. And yet, the Bianconeri’s frontline has been a shamble in his absence, especially with Arek Milik still nursing a knee injury. ............ Nevertheless, the Serbia international has now recovered and has already rejoined his teammates in training. He, alongside Vaslilije Adzic should receive a call-up for Saturday’s Serie A clash against Bologna. It's expected the former Fiorentina star to be included in the starting formation. ............ Juventus (4-2-3-1): Perin, Danilo, Gatti, Kalulu, Cambiaso, Locatelli, Thuram, Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Yildiz, Vlahovic. Coach: Thiago Motta. . 7. Juventus could set new defensive record in Saturday’s match against Bologna Juventus will have the opportunity to register a new club record by earning another clean sheet against Bologna, even if it would come with a bittersweet taste. ............ Juventus have at least been solid at the back, already registering 10 clean sheets from their 14 Serie A outings. The Turin-based giants will have the opportunity to set a new club record if they manage to prevent Bologna from scoring in Saturday’s encounter at the Allianz Stadium. This would be the first time in their history that Juventus collect 11 clean sheets in their first 15 Serie A contests. Overall, only Milan were able to record 12 shutouts from 15 matches, setting a long-standing league record since 1971/72. Moreover, Juventus could be on the right path to set a new season record for clean sheets. The number to beat currently stands at 22. ............ . 8. Club World Cup 2025 Draw: Juventus get Manchester City, Wydad AC and Al Ain The 2025 edition of the Club World Cup is very much a trip into the unknown. That’s not only because this is the first edition of this new-look summer tournament as compared to the very small winter one, but there’s also been a whole lot of uncertainty about just how all of it is going to go down. ............ We’ve slowly heard about venues in the United States. And, just a couple of days after the pots for the draw were released, we heard who Juventus will play in the Club World Cup group stage. During Thursday’s draw hosted by a certain well-dressed Italian man named Alessandro Del Piero in Miami — where Leo Messi and Inter Miami will host the tournament’s opening game come June 15 — Juve’s group stage opponents were revealed. Sitting in Pot 2 and subsequently drawn into Group G, Juventus were drawn against English champions Manchester City, CAF Champions League winners from 2021-22 Wydad AC out of Morocco and Dubai side Al Ain FC, providing the first major talking point for what this summer tournament will actually look like other than where games are being played. Juventus’ opening Club World Cup fixture will be against Al Ain, with the final group stage matchup coming against Pep Guardiola’s Man City. (Yes, the same Manchester City that Juve will face in the Champions League next week. You can be the judge as to which one will have bigger importance to Thiago Motta and Co.) ............ . 9. Longtime injured Juventus star has already resumed athletic training The lengthy injury ordeal of Arkadiusz Milik could be finally drawing to an end, as the Juventus striker has reportedly made his return to the training ground. The Polish striker has been out of action since June when he sustained a knee injury that ruled him out of Euro 2024. The bomber had been initially expected to return in October, but the pain persisted, forcing him to go under the knife. ............ On the other hand, Milik’s condition still requires some time on the sidelines, but at least the Poland international is making significant steps on his path towards recovery. The 30-year-old has already resumed his athletic training on the pitch. These personalized exercises are essential for the player to regain fitness and avoid any relapses. Milik will be expected to rejoin his teammates in group training in the middle of the month, while his much-anticipated return to action should ensue in January. ............ . 10. Official: Juventus strike two-year agreement with new sponsor Juventus have announced an endorsement agreement with TIM who becomes the club’s newest sponsor. The Italian telecommunications giant has long been associated with football. They had even acquired the naming rights of the league, which was commercially branded as “Serie A TIM”. However, their agreement with Lega Serie A has recently expired. Nevertheless, the company was hellbent on staying in the football industry, so they have now struck an agreement with the country’s most popular club. The Bianconeri made the announcement on Thursday, revealing that the two parties have penned a two-year agreement that makes TIM the club’s “premium partner”. Juventus and TIM are delighted to announce a new two-year partnership that will see Italy’s leading telecommunications company become the club’s Premium Partner,” reads the statement posted on the club’s official website. ............ “Two companies that constantly strive for excellence, setting themselves ambitious and innovative goals. “Always involved in the world of sport, and football in particular, we are delighted that Tim, by partnering with Juventus, has decided to have maximum visibility on the sleeve of our women’s first team and U-20 side, as a testimony to the valuable path undertaken. ............ . 11. Christmas gift for Motta: Juventus looking to purchase impressive loanee Juventus are aiming to secure an agreement with Porto over the permanent transfer of Francisco Conceicao in the coming weeks. ............ Therefore, the Serie A giants adopted a curious approach, signing the Portugal international on a loan deal that doesn’t include an obligation or an option to buy, thus leaving the player’s future hanging in the air, at least from a legal perspective. Nevertheless, it later emerged that Juventus had a gentlemen’s agreement with the Dragao over a future permanent move. This operation was orchestrated by the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes. ............ This could end being serving as a Christmas present for Thiago Motta who has been heavily relying on Conceincao. This will be the first expanded edition of the tournament, with 32 clubs from all over the globe competing for the international trophy. 13. Moggi: “Juventus not ready for the Scudetto, Here are Giuntoli and Thiago Motta’s mistakes” Luciano Moggi, the former general manager of Juventus, recently shared his views on the current state of the club. In an interview, Moggi commented on Juventus’ performance, highlighting the challenges they face and pointing out specific errors made by Cristiano Giuntoli and Thiago Motta. “At this moment, Juventus is difficult to judge,” Moggi stated. “They started a new project in July, and it takes time; a team isn’t built in five months or even a year. Injuries have greatly complicated things, but once the emergency ends, results will improve.” Discussing the team’s prospects, Moggi remarked, “Juventus is not equipped to win the Scudetto. The objective can be fourth place because three teams—Napoli, Atalanta, and Inter—are stronger. It won’t be easy to achieve, but it’s within reach if Vlahovic and Gonzalez can recover soon.” ............ “Errors have been made. Giuntoli should not have bought Douglas Luiz; he would have been better off staying in the Premier League. Thiago Motta errs by playing Koopmeiners too far forward with his back to goal, where he is less effective. ............ “More than one adjustment is needed; it seems this team lacks leaders. Bremer was one such leader but unfortunately will return next year due to a severe injury. ............ I would sell Douglas Luiz instead of Fagioli, who has shown in the past to be an excellent player.” . 14. Buffon: “Calciopoli? I have the medals, I know who was stronger” Gianluigi Buffon, the legendary former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper, recently gave an extensive interview to Juventibus, reflecting on his illustrious career and touching upon significant moments such as Serie B, Calciopoli, and more. ............ Reflecting on Juventus’ relegation, Buffon said: “Serie B was very special and beautiful. It was one of the reasons that led me to make a choice that conditioned my career. I was 28 years old; it was the best period for a professional goalkeeper. I did it because I felt it was the right choice.” On Calciopoli, Buffon stated: “I’ve always focused on what happened on the field. Those championships that were discussed, I lived as a protagonist with my teammates as the team to beat. I still have those medals; I smile at them because I know what happened on the field and who deserved it.” He described his feelings during the scandal: “For me, it was humiliating to be called into question. 15. Juventus hopes Douglas Luiz will be fit for their next Champions League game Douglas Luiz’s injury layoff, stretching over 40 days, has been a troubling development for Juventus. Signed in the summer transfer window with high expectations, Luiz was heralded as one of the finest midfielders to emerge from the Premier League. The move to Turin was seen as a statement signing for the Bianconeri, with hopes that he would bring creativity, physicality, and control to the midfield. However, his journey has been far from smooth, with injuries and a lack of form defining his first few months in Italy. ............ Despite these setbacks, Juventus remains patient with Luiz. According to reports, the club has no intention of selling him during the January transfer window. This decision reflects their long-term faith in his potential and belief that he can turn his fortunes around once fit. However, Luiz is still not training with the group, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming Serie A clash against Bologna. Juventus now aims to have him ready for the crucial Champions League encounter against Manchester City—a game with personal significance for Luiz, given his history at the English club. ............ . 16. Does Juventus regrets not making Conte their manager again? Juventus reportedly considered Antonio Conte for a managerial return in the summer but ultimately decided to appoint Thiago Motta, favouring a fresh approach over bringing back a former coach. Conte, who previously led the Bianconeri to great success, including multiple Scudetti, was seen as a natural choice by many fans and analysts. However, Juventus’s recent experiences with Max Allegri’s second stint, which ended in underwhelming results, likely influenced their reluctance to rehire Conte. Conte, after not receiving a call from Juventus, joined Napoli and has since turned the Partenopei into serious title contenders, further highlighting his managerial prowess. Napoli’s success under Conte has sparked debate among pundits, with some suggesting Juventus may regret their decision. Massimo Brambati hinted at this sentiment, emphasising Conte’s ability to instil a winning mentality in his teams. He remarked, “Conte is an added value, both on the field and in the group. Napoli hasn’t grown in the game but in group mentality. This makes the difference, that stuff is transmitted to you by the coach and you carry it with you.” ............ Despite Conte’s proven track record, Juventus opted for Thiago Motta, an emerging managerial talent with a different style and vision. The decision likely reflects the club’s desire to chart a new course. ............ . Read more -> https://www.juvefc.com/does-juventus-regrets-not-making-conte-their-manager-again/
  17. Thiago Motta could recover two players before the Bologna game Juventus prepares to face Bologna this weekend as they push to recover momentum in what has been a challenging season so far. The Bianconeri have grappled with an unusually high number of injuries, leaving the team significantly weakened at key moments. Missing as many as nine critical players during their last outing against Lecce, Juventus struggled to secure a win, but there is optimism heading into their next fixture. Juventus may receive a significant boost with the potential return of Dusan Vlahovic and Vasilije Adžić for the Bologna clash. The return of these players could offer much-needed reinforcement for a squad that has been stretched thin. Vlahovic’s presence in particular would bolster Juve’s attacking options, addressing a critical need for more firepower as they aim to secure three crucial points. ............ The stakes are high for Juventus, which cannot afford to drop more points if it hopes to remain in contention near the top of the Serie A standings. ............ . 18.
  23. Adani on Juventus: “Thiago Motta should be compared to Allegri’s first year….” Lele Adani has shared his perspective on the transition at Juventus from Massimiliano Allegri to Thiago Motta, emphasizing the need for fair comparisons between their respective tenures. Adani stated, “I am not interested in making comparisons, but if others make comparisons, I have to say my piece.” ............ Adani further elaborated, “Thiago Motta in his first year will be compared to the first year of Allegri’s three-year term and not to the third. Forgive me, but why should he be compared to the third year when one has three years of work and Thiago Motta is in his first year?” He pointed out that Motta should be assessed based on his initial season at Juventus, similar to how Allegri was evaluated during his return. ............ “What did they do? Let me tell you: in the 2021/2022 season, after the first 14 matchdays, Juventus had 21 points in the standings and now has 26; goals scored 18 and now 22; goals conceded 16 and now 8. That’s all, just to be precise.” . Read more -> https://www.footitalia.com/adani-on-juventus-thiago-motta-should-be-compared-to-allegris-first-year/
  24. Why Juventus will sell Fagioli in January Nicolò Fagioli is struggling with playing time at Juventus, so the Bianconeri will sell the Italian midfielder in the January transfer window. ............ After five months in charge of the Old Lady, coach Thiago Motta is not entirely convinced about the Italian midfielder, who has been struggling for playing time in recent weeks. Fagioli has provided one assist in 15 appearances this term but collected just 683 minutes of football on the pitch. Fagioli is unhappy with his status in Turin, while Motta hasn’t seen enough improvements from the 23-year-old. ............ According to the report, Motta isn’t even happy with the midfielder’s performances and attitude when he’s introduced as a substitute from the bench. ............ PSG, Marseille, and Napoli are interested in the Italian midfielder even if the Partenopei haven’t yet contacted the Bianconeri. . 25. Key Juventus star targets a new date to return to action Dusan Vlahovic has been notably absent from Juventus’s lineup in their last three matches, and his absence has left the Bianconeri struggling to find a suitable replacement upfront. The Serbian striker’s importance to the team was clear from the start of the season, with Juve recognising the challenges they would face if he were sidelined. As their only recognised striker, his injury has significantly impacted their attacking options. Adding to their woes, Juventus has also been without Arkadiusz Milik, who has remained out of action since last summer. ............ . Vlahovic could make his comeback in Juventus’s upcoming match against Bologna. The report indicates that he is expected to participate in at least three days of full training with the squad this week. Should he complete these sessions without any setbacks, he will likely be included in the team to face Bologna, a fixture that carries additional intrigue as Thiago Motta prepares to take on his former side. ............ .
