Juve plan Chiellini offer Aug 1, 2014 Juventus will reportedly offer Giorgio Chiellini a new contract next week, to extend him beyond June 2015. Reports as far back as six months ago have had the defender as in line for renegotiations with the Bianconeri. Today, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is leading assertions that a renewal offer will be tabled to the 29-year-old during next week. Chiellini, who has been with the Old Lady since 2005, is currently in line to be out of contract next summer.

Evra: I Left Manchester United For Juventus For Personal Reasons Jul 31, 2014 New Juventus signing Patrice Evra has revealed that leaving Manchester United for Juventus was a very difficult decision but that he had to leave for personal reasons. The 33-year-old was presented as a Juventus player on Thursday and gave a press conference detailing his transfer from the Premier League club. “It was really difficult to leave Manchester United. “It was for personal reasons. I asked the club if I could leave. When I knew Juventus were interested, the most difficult part was to leave. “But I did it and I am happy with my choice.” Evra also talked of his delight at linking up with Carlos Tevez once again, with the two having been team-mates at Old Trafford between 2007 and 2009. “It was tough for me to see him leave United, we are great friends on and off the pitch. It hurt me to see him in another shirt,” Evra explained. Evra also answered difficult questions regarding racism, with the Italian football federation under the spotlight in recent days over alleged racist remarks made by its vice-president, Carlo Tavecchio. “It’s hard to talk about racism. “I don’t understand why someone compares other people because they are a different colour. Maybe they fear the other person. “It is sad to be here and talk about it, I don’t understand it,” Evra added. Evra is nevertheless excited about the fresh challenge ahead in Serie A, with his new club looking for a fourth successive Scudetto under new boss Massimiliano Allegri. Evra was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2006 and went on to enjoy an illustrious eight-year career at Old Trafford, winning the Champions League in 2008, five Premier League titles, three League Cups and a Club World Cup. He made a total of 379 appearances for United, scoring 10 goals, but was given permission to leave following the signing of England international Luke Shaw from Southampton.

Van Gaal was sorry to see me go, says Evra The defender admits it was very difficult to bid farewell to the Premier League giants but says he had no hesitation in accepting an offer from Juventus. Jul 31, 2014 Patrice Evra has revealed personal reasons were behind his decision to leave Manchester United and make the switch to Juventus - though he says new manager Louis van Gaal was eager to keep him. The France left-back agreed a two-year contract with the Serie A champions earlier this month after asking to leave United towards the end of the previous campaign. His decision to move on ended an eight-and-a-half year stay in England that saw the 33-year-old lift five Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League. Evra revealed on Thursday that although he had signed a one-year extension at Old Trafford in May, he had no hesitation in making the switch to Turin once a €2.5 million deal had been agreed. "It was really difficult to leave Manchester United, it was for personal reasons," he said at a media conference in Turin. "Three months before the end of the season I asked to speak to other clubs and when I knew Juventus were interested it was an easy decision, but the most difficult thing was to leave Manchester United. "Manchester had great confidence in me. I spoke to Van Gaal, who was sorry to see me go, but I wanted to come to Juventus." Juve have won the past three Serie A titles under Antonio Conte but preparations for the new campaign were thrown into doubt when the head coach left his role with the club on July 16. Massimiliano Allegri replaced Conte at the helm and Evra, who does not have any concerns about the 45-year-old's departure, is ready for the challenges that come with defending the league crown. "The minute Juventus came calling, I knew it was the right choice for me," he added. "They have the same winning mentality as me. "Juve wants to win this year, I have never won the championship four times in a row, but it won't be easy. "I managed to do it three times with Manchester United and know how difficult the challenge is. "We hope to do well in the Champions League too. It's a great competition and we'll look to go as far as we can."

Marotta on Romulo, Vidal & Evra Jul 31, 2014 Juventus director Beppe Marotta has claimed that Romulo will sign for the champions as soon as tomorrow. The Verona midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to the Bianconeri this summer, after impressing for the Gialloblu last time out. And the board member has revealed that the move is to be confirmed on Friday, as well as briefly commenting on Arturo Vidal. “Romulo is likely to be a Juve player tomorrow,” he told reporters. “Tomorrow his agent will arrive in Turin. “Vidal in Manchester? No, he was here yesterday.” Marotta then commented on Patrice Evra’s arrival from Manchester United. “Evra is a player that’s known throughout Europe. We’re delighted to have him in our team. “We have had our eyes on him for a long time. “He’s 33 so brings great experience to our team. Beyond his technical capabilities, we chose him because he has played in a culture at Manchester United that is a lot like ours – we win.”

Evra: Juve the right club for me Jul 31, 2014 Patrice Evra has claimed that it wasn’t easy leaving Manchester United, but knows that Juventus are the right club for him. The France international has left the Premier League outfit for a new challenge with the Bianconeri. And the veteran left-back has insisted that he can’t wait to get going with Massimiliano Allegri’s men. “I need to thank Italy, it's the country that gave me my start as a professional. I have great memories from my time at Marsala,” he said at his official unveiling. “The minute Juventus came calling, I knew it was the right choice for me. “It won't be easy to win four titles in a row. I managed to do it three times with Manchester United and know how difficult the challenge is. “I'm really happy with the choice I've made. Juventus is a great club with a wonderful history. “It wasn't easy to leave Man Utd, it was a decision I made for personal reasons. I'm happy with the choice I've made in coming here.” Evra then commented on his European ambitions for the upcoming campaign, and his relationship with Carlos Tevez. “We hope to do well in the Champions League. It's a great competition and we'll look to go as far as we can. “Carlos is a warrior. It was tough for me to see him leave Manchester United for another team. We're great friends on and off the pitch.”

Marotta to unlock Romulo Jul 31, 2014 Beppe Marotta will reportedly meet with Verona officials today to finalise terms of agreement for Romulo. The Brazilian-born midfielder was seen as on his way to Turin this week for a medical and to sign off on a transfer to the Old Lady, only for delays to hold things up. However, on from meeting with the Gialloblu yesterday, director general Marotta is expected to once more hold talks with the club to unlock the current situation. It was feared that another club had entered into talks and potentially raised Verona’s asking price, but the giornalaccio rosa dello Sport believe Juve will get their man on loan for an initial €1m, with a purchase option of €7m. Reports are that the details to be settled today involve terms of payment on that €7m, with Verona hoping for a lump sum, just as the Bianconeri are keen to defer over a period of three years. Marotta commented yesterday of his expectancy to have Romulo signed and ready to join the squad in time for their tour of Asia and Australia, which they depart for this weekend.

‘Allegri has explained his ideas’ Jul 31, 2014 Leonardo Bonucci admits that Antonio Conte’s departure was a surprise, but says Max Allegri has ‘explained his ideas’. Juventus are under new management this summer and continued their adaptation with a goalless draw with Cesena on Wednesday evening. “The game went well, I honestly thought we were worse, but we are on track,” Bonucci considered after involvement in the game following only a handful of sessions. “We played in the same way as last season, we have made ourselves available immediately. If we change to a back four then we will do so well and I am ready to prove myself in a four. “Conte’s departure was an unexpected blow, because we had the intention to continue with him, we thank him for what we managed together for these three years. “Are others now favourites for the Scudetto? We have to think to stay compact, it is true that we won thanks to Conte, but in the end we are the ones out in the field. And this time the field will tell you that Juve is the strongest. “Allegri has explained his ideas, his desire to revisit the past without radically changing things. He has the desire to continue taking us to the top of Serie A.”

Evra: Juve like a dream Jul 31, 2014 Patrice Evra has described his return to Italy as ‘like destiny’, as he compares his summer arrival at Juventus to ‘a dream’. The France international arrived in Turin on Wednesday night and this morning will undergo routine medical tests before officially being presented as a new signing at Vinovo. For the 33-year-old, it is a second bite at Italian football, following an early and brief stint at Monza 15 years ago. “Yes indeed, for me it’s like destiny,” Evra has told Juve’s official website on arrival. “When I was 17 Italy opened its doors for me to become the player I am now. Today I am truly a happy man. “I cannot wait to start because, it is destiny. To me, it’s like a dream. It’s an amazing feeling to start over again. In Manchester I’ve won everything, whilst the Evra at Juventus has not won anything yet. “Then, with great humility, with a desire to work, to learn even at 33 and to achieve beautiful things. I am one who likes to win, I chose a team like Juve to win and I will do my best to give all that I can for the club, for the fans, for the Coach and for my teammates. “A message for the fans? I am a person that does not sell many dreams, the only thing I can guarantee to the fans is that I will give my best for this shirt. “I have to thank the people not with words, but with action on the field. Forza Juve and I hope to win many trophies.”

Marotta: Vidal is our player Jul 31, 2014 Beppe Marotta has reiterated that Juventus and Arturo Vidal are happy with each other, whilst he updates on Romulo. Speculation continues to suggest Manchester United may come in with an offer for Vidal this summer, but the club’s director general remains insistent. “Vidal is one of our players, we renewed the contract last season,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia before Juve’s draw with Cesena last night. “We are happy with him, he is pleased with us, he is wearing the shirt of the most prestigious club in the world. I do not think there will be any problems.” Romulo was expected to sign for the Bianconeri earlier this week, but has seen delays hit his move from Verona. Marotta was asked if the player will sign in time for the tour of Asia and Australia coming up. “I think so, we talked to Verona [yesterday] afternoon. I think that if he does not arrive then the situation would have to be particularly negative, he could arrive in the coming days. “Since the departure to Singapore is set for Sunday, I hope that we can include him in the group.” Marotta also considered the transition so far from Antonio Conte and Max Allegri. “I must say that first of all that from the grid of contenders for the Scudetto, we are the only ones that has changed Coach, so this has definitely created some problems. “Especially I think in the legacy that Allegri has had, in replacing a Coach who has given so much to Juventus and Juventus are grateful, but I think that he is one of the best Coaches in circulation. “The obligation of the club is to support the work of the Coach in what problems occur day to day, so from this point of view we will be next to him for every little problem. “It is clear that Juventus has in its DNA the desire to win, so we do not hide - we need to start the season trying to achieve something even more extraordinary, which would be the fourth consecutive League title. “As I often say, I believe that next to a winning team there must be a winning club. We try to be and we are certainly aware of the role we have.”

Allegri: A good workout Jul 31, 2014 Massimiliano Allegri saw positives to Juventus’ draw with Cesena, whilst asserting that there is still much to do in a short space of time. The Bianconeri continued their pre-season under their new Coach with a goalless draw against the Cavallucci Marini on Wednesday evening. Despite the failure to win, Allegri considered afterwards the point to the friendly fixture against their Serie A opponents. “This was a good workout. The squad arrived two days ago, considering those returning from the World Cup,” the 46-year-old told Sky Sport Italia post-match. “The attitude was good, we did not create much, but there were no injuries and this is important. We need to concentrate within 25 days a workload for usually 45, I know this and it is okay. “We have to work, creating the conditions to win and do better in Europe. We have four major objectives to be achieved, we are only in the third day of training, but here the attitude was good. “There is so much to do, especially at a fitness level, to be at our best during the season. “The transition from one Coach to another can be felt, if only in the team selection, but that’s normal. I have found great players, eager to go again. “It will not be easy, given the antagonists, but we will work with calmness and balance to improve as much as we can.” Allegri started the match in a 3-5-2 formation, but was asked of the potential to switch to a back four. “It’s too early to tell. After three days it was unthinkable to provide a different tactical approach, I only applied certain new measures that were well received by the guys. “If the team play well in a back four then we will move to a back four, otherwise we will remain with three. “But what counts is that the team does well, creates and wins.” Patrice Evra arrived in Turin yesterday evening and today will be presented to the media. “He is a great player of international experience, which is what counts at Juventus. Then, he will have to adapt, because he comes from a very different world in the Premier League.” Speculation continues to surround Arturo Vidal’s future. “He was never on the market. I have spoken with the guy, whilst the club has expressed their thoughts and he will remain.”

Juve held to draw by Cesena Jul 30, 2014 Juventus were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with Cesena this evening in Massimiliano Allegri’s second game in charge. The new Coach named a strong XI for the match at Stadio Dino Manuzzi, with Andrea Pirlo, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini all returning after World Cup duty. The Bianconeri were on top throughout the first half, with Pirlo going closest to opening the scoring, however, the Old Lady couldn’t take their chances and went in at the break goalless. A host of changes were made at half time, with the likes of Kwadwo Asamoah, Martin Caceres and Claudio Marchisio all joining the action. Despite this though, the champions couldn’t gel and were left humbled by the newly-promoted side as they came away with only a goalless draw.
