Serie A Week 9 - 25-10-2011 (8:45 p.m.) - Juventus Arena - Turin MIHAJLOVIC GIVEN FULL BACKING Oct 25, 2011 Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has been given the full backing of club owner Andrea Della Valle ahead of Tuesday's Serie A trip to Juventus. Last weekend's 2-2 home draw against Catania extended Fiorentina's winless run to four games and dropped the Viola to 10th in the standings. Defeats at Juve and against Genoa on Sunday could prove costly for Mihajlovic, according to reports in Italy. However, on suggestions Mihajlovic's job could be in jeopardy, Della Valle told giornalaccio rosa dello Sport: "Absolutely not. "I have full confidence in Sinisa and he is not under threat. "He is not at fault. "I can understand the fans' disappointment but we have all the ingredients to do well. "Now we must focus on the games against Juventus and Genoa and get as many points as possible in those two games." Fiorentina will welcome back striker Alberto Gilardino into their starting XI. The Italy international, who played the final six minutes of Saturday's game after being out for five weeks with a knee injury, will partner Stevan Jovetic in Fiorentina's attack. Juventus coach Antonio Conte was disappointed with his team's 2-2 result against Genoa on Saturday - their fourth draw in five games. The Turin outfit were pegged back twice by Genoa and had to settle for a draw. "We have to continue to grow," Conte said. "We lost two points against Genoa and we should have showed more focus. "We need to keep working hard." Juve, who are unbeaten this season, are third in the standings, two points adrift of Serie A leaders Udinese. The hosts are hoping to recover goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who missed the game against Genoa with a shoulder injury. Should the Italy international fail in his bid to be fit, Marco Storari will take his place between the posts. The visitors will be without midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, who serves a one-match ban. http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/2011-2012/regular-season/
  7. sportal.co.in Serie A Week 9 - 25-10-2011 (8:45 p.m.) - Juventus Arena - Turin Conte warning for Juventus Oct 25, 2011 Juventus coach Antonio Conte has defended under-fire duo Milos Krasic and Giorgio Chiellini following Saturday's disappointing draw at home to Genoa in Serie A. Juve led twice through a brace from Alessandro Matri, but were pegged back on each occasion by strikes from first Marco Rossi and then Andrea Caracciolo five minutes from time. Krasic was unconvincing once more, while Chiellini was at fault in the build-up to both goals, but Conte says the two are "fundamental" to Juventus' hopes of success and claims he is responsible for getting the best out of the duo. "A coach must get the maximum from his players, especially when they are going through a difficult moment, like Krasic and Chiellini," Conte said at a press conference ahead of Tuesday night's mouth-watering match against Fiorentina. "They are two fundamental players and if we start to question two players like them, I will start to become anxious; it becomes a problem when we start to doubt players like Chiellini - for me he is a guarantee." Conte also revealed that he will call on some psychology to get the best out of his stars, who remain unbeaten but have now drawn four of their last five Serie A fixtures to drop to third place. "I must do a great job technically, tactically and also psychologically," he explained. "I speak to some players more than I speak to my mother and father, depending on what is necessary." One player unlikely to feature any time soon is goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who remains sidelined with a shoulder problem. "The physiotherapy is ongoing," Conte advised. "The medical team will make their evaluations, but he will tell me when he is ready." Striker Fabio Quagliarella is ready to return, however, and could feature against Fiorentina on Tuesday. http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/2011-2012/regular-season/

  9. Serie A Week 9 - 25-10-2011 (8:45 p.m.) - Juventus Arena - Turin Mihajlovic: Fiorentina can be the first away team to win at Juventus Stadium The Serbian coach is brimming with confidence ahead of Tuesday's Serie A game, but has plenty of respect for the Turin side too. Oct 25, 2011 Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic hopes his team can be the first to leave Juventus' new stadium with three points when the sides lock horns on Tuesday. The Turin giants have so far recorded two wins and two draws in four Serie A home games since the official opening of Juventus Stadium against Notts County in September. And the former Serbia international believes his side have what it takes to become the first to leave with a victory. "The lads are motivated, and this makes me certain that we
  10. Serie A Week 9 - 25-10-2011 (8:45 p.m.) - Juventus Arena - Turin Serie A Preview Oct 25, 2011 Arch rivals Juventus and Fiorentina desperately need a win to kick-start their stuttering Serie A campaigns. The home side, despite being unbeaten this term, have started to drop points, while Viola boss Sinisa Mihajlovic could be playing for his future as the discontent in Florence is becoming worryingly more vociferous. Juventus began the campaign brightly and their 2-0 win over Milan seemed to underline their pedigree as Scudetto contenders. Yet that dominant display against the Rossoneri was their only victory in their last five games. On Saturday, the Old Lady took the lead twice but were punished for their mistakes as Genoa hit back to collect a 2-2 draw. Few were talking about the title after that result and questions are starting to be asked of new boss Antonio Conte. It

  17. Serie A Week 9 - 25-10-2011 (8:45 p.m.) - Juventus Arena - Turin Serie A Preview The Bianconeri will be looking to end a two-game winless run as they get set to renew hostilities with their fierce rivals on Tuesday. Mattia Cassani and Per Kroldrup are both injured and will miss the contest while Riccardo Montolivo is suspended. DID YOU KNOW?
  18. Media attacks against Chiellini are excessive, says agent The Italy international has been struggling to find his best form, but his brother feels that the criticism aimed at the defender is over the top. Oct 24, 2011 Claudio Chiellini, the brother and agent of Juventus defender Giorgio, has admitted that his client has made some mistakes this season, but feels that he doesn't deserve the harsh treatment he gets in the press. Chiellini has received his fair share of criticism following some disappointing performances and he again failed to impress in Juventus' 2-2 Serie A draw against Genoa last weekend. "It is true that he has made some mistakes this season, but people act like Juventus' problem is Giorgio Chiellini," Claudio said to Tuttosport. "The media attacks are excessive in my opinion. It looks like they're after a scapegoat after every disappointing result. Giorgio doesn't deserve this treatment. He has done a lot for Juventus in the last six years and was the best defender in Italy for three seasons. "These are pretty unfortunate episodes though, as it seems as if every minor mistake he makes results in a goal at the moment." Chiellini has made 177 league appearances for Juventus since joining the club from Livorno in 2004.
  19. Trio have Juve role to play Oct 24, 2011 Juventus insist that Alessandro Del Piero, Milos Krasic and Giorgio Chiellini all have a key part to play in 2011-12. Del Piero was only used as a very late substitute on Saturday against Genoa at the end of a week when it was announced that this would be his last season as a player in Turin. Krasic and Chiellini, meanwhile, have struggled to perform with any sort of consistency under new boss Antonio Conte so far.

  21. Giuseppe Marotta aiming for top three finish in Serie A The Turin side's general director feels that Champions League qualification would be a realistic target for Antonio Conte's men. Oct 24, 2011 Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has told Tuttosport that he has targeted a top three finish after the club's strong start to the Serie A season. Despite drawing 2-2 with Genoa on Saturday, the Turin giants sit third in the table, two points behind leaders Udinese. And although many have touted Antonio Conte's men as potential title winners, Moratta feels that Champions League qualification should be the target. "The word Scudetto is part of the Juventus lexicon, so it is always a goal. The target is to finish in the top three, so that we may fight for something important. In each game we go out to win. "Conte arrived this year, along with many new players. The boss's work is initiated with different tactics and it takes time to mix a new group," Marotta said.
