Giorgio Chiellini Set For Juventus Contract Talks Juve will try to tie their man down... Aug 18, 2010 Juventus are set to open up contract talks with centre-back Giorgio Chiellini, Tuttosport claims, with the intention on tying down the 25-year-old defender to the club for the long-term. Chiellini, who was born in Pisa, has repeatedly affirmed his desire to stay with the Bianconeri beyond the end of his present deal, which expires in 2013, though he has also indicated that he wants to see the gap between the Turin-based side and Inter closed. Ahead of the new Serie A campaign, which begins on the last weekend of August, Juventus are set to discuss a new deal for the former Fiorentina man, who is said to be poorly paid in comparison to many of his counterparts. Chiellini's agent Davide Lippi will meet with Juve director general Beppe Marotta imminently to propose a new contract, which is expected to run until 2015 and would involve the defender getting a significant pay rise. Manchester City and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in the Italy international in recent times, though it seems he would prefer to stay with the Old Lady.

Aug 9, 2010 Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has begun his rehabilitation following surgery to the back injury that saw him ruled out after just 45 minutes of this summer's World Cup in South Africa. He is expected to return to training in December, revealed Tuttosport. The veteran had an operation on his back five weeks ago and underwent an MRI before engaging in the first session of his road to recovery. His programme will see him work five hours a day in order to return to top form. The shot stopper has had a few back injuries over the last couple of seasons that have forced him to endure spells on the sidelines. The club have brought in former Milan and Sampdoria goalkeeper Marco Storari to take his place between the posts. Buffon joined the Turin giants in 2001 from Parma, quickly becoming renowned as one of the top goalkeepers in world football. He also has over 100 caps at international level for the Azzurri.

JUVENTUS 1 - 0 SHAMROCK ROVERSEuropa League - Una meraviglia di Del Piero lancia la Juve La Juventus conquista l'accesso agli spareggi per l'ingresso in Europa League: contro gli irlandesi dello Shamrock Rovers, Diego non gira, entra Del Piero e decide il match con una gran punizione (1-0) Eurosport - gio, 05 ago Juve nuova, ma le vecchie abitudini non si dimenticano. A Modena piove copiosamente e, contro i modesti irlandesi dello Shamrock, Diego non si esprime al meglio. Del Neri cambia nella ripresa: entra Del Piero e la musica è tutta nuova. Una punizione del capitano bianconero si infila sotto l’incrocio, per l’urlo del Braglia. La Juventus di Del Neri avanza e affronterà gli spareggi di Europa League. E vedremo in quell’occasione chi giocherà da titolare: Diego è avvisato. Del Neri decide di continuare con la squadra che ha ben figurato all'andata a Dublino: spazio a Diego e Amuari in avanti, mentre il capitano Del Piero (assieme a Trezeguet) si accomoda in panchina. Cambia qualcosa O'Neill: rimane in panchina Stuart, il 4-3-3 iniziale prevede Kavanagh, Dennehy e Twigg davanti. La partita è complicata sin dall’inizio: la pioggia che si è abbattuta, copiosa, sul Braglia ha reso il campo pesante. Il terreno di gioco regge, ma a privilegiarne sono i giocatori irlandesi, più fisici e meno tecnici di quelli bianconeri. I primi minuti sono per lo Shamrock, poi piano piano cresce la Juve. I bianconeri spingono bene sulle fasce laterali: Pepe e Motta sono propositivi sulla destra, De Ceglie e Lanzafame insistono dall’altra parte. In mezzo all’area Amauri si batte come un leone, ma non trova assistenza da un Diego più spesso a terra (o meglio, in acqua) piuttosto che nel vivo del gioco. Se ne accorge anche Del Neri che tra il primo e secondo il tempo decide di sostituire il brasiliano con lo scalpitante Del Piero. In avvio la Juve continua a faticare: le azioni bianconere sono sempre volenterose, ma un po’ confusionarie. Pepe e Amauri ci provano un paio di volte attorno al 50’ ma il portiere Mannus è attento. La pioggia cala, i bianconeri invece aumentano la pressione: al 70’ è Sissoko a battere a colpo sicuro di sinistro, ma sulla ribattuta c’è solo calcio d’angolo. E’ solo il preludio al gol che verrà quattro minuti dopo: la firma è quella del capitano, Alex Del Piero, che da una punizione dai 35 metri mette a segno un bolide sotto la traversa di Mannus, che vola ma non ci arriva. Una meraviglia che illumina il Braglia, tutto in piedi per il suo idolo indiscusso. Del Piero è scatenato: ci proverà ancora di testa prima, ancora da fuori poi, ma senza fortuna. Entra Trezeguet per Amauri (tra i migliori in campo), ma non ha palle a disposizione per fare male. La Juve vince e va avanti in Europa: ancora sotto il segno di Del Piero, che forse con la sua ennesima perla, forse ha cambiato le gerarchie che ha in testa Del Neri.
