Inter are set to again drop Mauro Icardi in favour of Lautaro Martinez for tonight’s Derby d’Italia showdown with Juventus.

It kicks off at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT).

The Nerazzurri have the opportunity to consolidate third place and even threaten Napoli in second, but above all this evening’s clash will be about pride and long-standing rivalry.

Marcelo Brozovic should be fit enough to start after his muscular issues, sending Borja Valero back to the bench, with Matteo Politano, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic supporting Lautaro Martinez.

For the second big match in a row, Luciano Spalletti seems ready to dump Icardi in favour of the younger model, confirming the tense rapport that has never been healed since the captaincy row.

Juventus have a lengthy injury list, missing Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa, Martin Caceres and Mattia Perin.

It means Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the trident attack with Juan Cuadrado and Federico Bernardeschi, so on form Moise Kean is only reserved as a substitute.

The big news is the return of Giorgio Chiellini from a calf injury, with Joao Cancelo facing his old club.

Probable line-ups

Inter: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Asamoah; Vecino, Brozovic; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Lautaro Martinez

Juventus: Szczesny; Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Emre Can, Pjanic, Bentancur; Cuadrado, Ronaldo, Bernardeschi

Inter prefer Mauro Icardi to Lautaro Martinez, while Federico Bernardeschi has a new role alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in an experimental Juventus for the Derby d’Italia.

It kicks off at San Siro at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT).

The Nerazzurri have plenty to play for, as they have the opportunity to not only consolidate third place, but even potentially close on listless Napoli in second.

There is also the small matter of this being the Derby d’Italia and pride is at stake for both sides, especially as Juve might already have the title sewn up, but they have been crawling along lately.

Luciano Spalletti has Marcelo Brozovic back in midfield after his injury concerns, while Matteo Politano, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic fan out behind centre-forward Icardi.

It had been widely reported that Lautaro Martinez would again be chosen in attack, but Spalletti has given the former captain a chance to prove himself.

Juventus have few genuine choices available, because Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Sami Khedira, Martin Caceres and Mattia Perin are all injured.

Bernardeschi therefore takes a new centre-forward role in the 3-5-2 with Cristiano Ronaldo, moving Juan Cuadrado to central midfield.

Giorgio Chiellini makes his comeback after a calf injury to complete the new three-man defence with Leonardo Bonucci and Emre Can in another intriguing experiment.

Inter have not beaten Juve since a 2-1 home result in September 2016, managing only a 0-0 draw and three defeats.

However, the last clean sheet the Bianconeri kept at San Siro was 0-0 in October 2015, conceding four goals in their last two Serie A visits.

Inter: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Asamoah; Vecino, Brozovic; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Icardi

Inter bench: Padelli, Gagliardini, Lautaro Martinez, Keita, Ranocchia, Joao Mario, Borja Valero, Cedric Soares, Miranda, Dalbert, Candreva

Juventus: Szczesny; Emre Can, Bonucci, Chiellini; Cancelo, Cuadrado, Pjanic, Matuidi, Alex Sandro; Bernardeschi, Ronaldo

Juventus bench: Pinsoglio, Del Favero, De Sciglio, Barzagli, Kean, Rugani, Matheus Pereira, Spinazzola, Nicolussi Caviglia

Ronaldo cancels out Radja rocket

The Derby d’Italia was a game of two spectacular goals, as Radja Nainggolan’s rocket of a volley was cancelled out by Cristiano Ronaldo’s daisy-cutter.

The Bianconeri had already won the Scudetto and came to San Siro missing numerous players, including Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa and Sami Khedira, but Giorgio Chiellini returned from a calf injury. The Nerazzurri wanted to consolidate third place and possibly chase Napoli down in second. Mauro Icardi got back into the starting XI at the expense of Lautaro Martinez, with Marcelo Brozovic returning from injury.

Inter have not beaten Juve since a 2-1 home result in September 2016, now managing only two draws and three defeats. They took the opportunity to openly mock the Bianconeri for their quarter-final exit to Ajax, as the entire Curva Nord was a huge choreography depicting the Champions League trophy with the words: ‘Game Over.’

It was the perfect start for the hosts, because just seven minutes in a corner came out to 25-30 metres for the most extraordinary Nainggolan right-foot volley that swerved viciously in the air, so that when Wojciech Szczesny did get an arm to it, the ball bounced back off it and into the net.

Inter kept pushing, as Szczesny palmed an Icardi strike over from a tight angle, then on the resulting corner blocked Stefan de Vrij’s header on the line.

Federico Bernardeschi’s ferocious effort skimmed the bar with Samir Handanovic stranded, while Blaise Matuidi used his body to charge down an Icardi effort from point-blank range on a corner.

Cristiano Ronaldo also fired just over from distance, but Juve barely made an impact in a dismal first half performance.

Perisic’s daisy-cutter shaved a coat of paint off the base of the near post, but Juventus woke up when Moise Kean replaced Blaise Matuidi.

First Ronaldo’s strike from close range was charged down by De Vrij, almost without the defender’s knowledge, then moments later CR7 completed a give-and-go with Miralem Pjanic’s back-heel flick to hit a left-foot daisy-cutter into the near bottom corner from the edge of the box. It was unstoppable and got Juventus back on level terms.

Kwadwo Asamoah risked an own goal with his chest back to Handanovic, while Perisic seemed as if he had to score, but blasted from close range and Szczesny got his fingertips to it.

Juve increasingly pinned Inter back and Handanovic did well to keep a Pjanic volley under control, as it went through a sea of legs. Emre Can then smashed his strike inches over the crossbar, while substitute Joao Mario stung Szczesny’s gloves within a minute of coming off the bench.

Matheus Pereira made his Serie A debut and almost scored the winner in the final minute, as Ronaldo’s cross went over after a double ricochet in the six-yard box.

Inter: Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Skriniar, Asamoah; Vecino, Brozovic; Politano (Joao Mario 79), Nainggolan (Borja Valero 74), Perisic; Icardi (Lautaro Martinez 82)

Juventus: Szczesny; Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro (Spinazzola 49); Emre Can, Pjanic, Matuidi (Kean 60); Cuadrado, Ronaldo, Bernardeschi (Matheus Pereira 86)

Allegri: I have 'right motivation'

Max Allegri says he has ‘the right motivation’ going into his sixth season with Juventus and that Aaron Ramsey is ‘a great signing for us’.

Allegri’s future has come under scrutiny after another Champions League exit, but he made it clear he still had unfinished business in Turin.

“The answer is simple,” began the Coach at a Press conference.

“I still have to see Agnelli to draw up plans and talk about the season we’ve had, about the things that have gone well the things that haven’t, as well as talking about next season.

“I’ll see how we can improve the team, where we want to get to and what the President’s ideas will be.

“As for everything else, it’s all normal: we met this morning, but also the other day. When he’s here we always see each other, but the President will call me first and then we’ll have a meeting.

“You’re wrong to talk about who could replace me. I have to leave every year, even though I’ve been here for five years. The good thing is that we’ll have one month to draw up plans.

“I’ll tell the President what my ideas are. My idea right now is to hear what he wants and what the club want. After that, like every year, things will definitely go the right way.

“Juventus must be in with a shout of winning the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa and Champions League every season.

“Nothing’s changed. It’s normal that every year we look over what we’ve done. I have the right motivation.

“If I’ve decided to stay and start over with Juve for the sixth season, it’s because I have the right motivation. If I wasn’t convinced on a technical level, I wouldn’t start another season.”

The Bianconeri contest the Derby della Mole on Friday, against a Torino side who are playing for Champions League qualification.

“Rugani’s not been called up because he had a bit of inflammation against Inter,” continued the former Milan boss.

“Caceres is back and Barzagli is better, although I’ll keep him rested. We’ll see if he’s okay to face Roma. Chiellini and Bonucci will play tomorrow.

“Pinsoglio will definitely play a game. He deserves it because he’s a point of reference in the dressing room: he’s become really important.

“As for Kean, either I’ll start everyone from the off or make a change on the bench. We’ll be playing in an important derby, Toro have lost only one of their last 17 trips here.

“Hopefully that statistic will be two tomorrow. Mazzarri is doing something extraordinary, Torino are fighting for the Champions League and we’ll have to play like we did in the second half against Inter.

“We’ve trained very well this week: normally, but with a different kind of serenity. I’m convinced that we’ll have a good game tomorrow.

“It’ll be a certain type of game. They have an extraordinary objective: they hadn’t got to this stage of the season for a long time, playing for the Champions League.

“We’ll need to have a good game and we’ll need to be solid: they have so much physicality in their team.”

Finally Allegri was asked about Ramsey, who will join the Old Lady on a free transfer this summer and has already played his last game for arsenal.

“He’s a quality player, who has goals in his legs and is good at timing his runs. He’s a great signing for us.”

Torino are fired up and can leap into joint fourth place with a victory in the Derby della Mole, as the Juventus injury crisis takes hold.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT).

The Granata have every motivation possible to win this clash, as not only is it a local rivalry and probably the closest-run derby in decades, but also gives Walter Mazzarri’s men the chance to at least temporarily catch Atalanta in fourth place.

Europa League football is the target, but the Champions League is also potentially within reach, as they currently sit in sixth place with a superior head-to-head record against Milan thanks to last week’s victory.

Juve, on the other hand, have already clinched their eighth straight Scudetto and are now coasting, although showed with the 1-1 draw at Inter that they can still pull out a performance on the big stage.

Max Allegri is dealing with a huge injury crisis that has ruled out Emre Can, Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Alex Sandro, Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Daniele Rugani, Sami Khedira and Mattia Perin.

Moise Kean is therefore chosen to partner Cristiano Ronaldo, with Federico Bernardeschi and Juan Cuadrado wide in a 4-4-2 formation.

Leonardo Spinazzola gets the nod at left-back rather than Mattia De Sciglio.

Torino have Emiliano Moretti suspended for the derby, plus Vittorio Parigini, Iago Falque and Koffi Djidji on the treatment table.

Alex Berenguer supports Andrea Belotti, with Daniele Baselli and ex-Juventus striker Simone Zaza returning from suspension for a spot on the bench.

Brazilian Bremer arrived last summer, but this is his first Serie A start, with Sasa Lukic confirmed in midfield after a solid performance against Milan.

Torino won only one of their last 25 Serie A meetings with Juve, 2-1 in April 2015, along with five draws and 19 defeats.

Their last Derby della Mole success as the ‘away’ side was back in 1995 thanks to a Ruggiero Rizzitelli brace, followed by three stalemates and nine losses.

Juventus: Szczesny; Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Spinazzola; Cuadrado, Pjanic, Matuidi, Bernardeschi; Ronaldo, Kean

Juventus bench: Pinsoglio, Del Favero, De Sciglio, Caceres, Barzagli, Pereira, Nicolussi Caviglia

Torino: Sirigu; Izzo, Nkoulou, Bremer; De Silvestri, Meite, Rincon, Lukic, Ansaldi; Berenguer, Belotti

Torino bench: Ichazo, Rosati, Baselli, Zaza, Singo, Damascan, Aina, Millico

Sasa Lukic caught Miralem Pjanic in possession to give Torino the half-time lead at the Juventus Stadium in the Derby della Mole.

The Derby della Mole is always a big occasion, but although Juve had already clinched their eighth consecutive Scudetto, Toro had plenty of motivation. They were in sixth place, only three points behind Atalanta and that fourth Champions League berth after a victory over Milan last week.

Emre Can, Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Alex Sandro, Rodrigo Bentancur, Douglas Costa, Daniele Rugani, Sami Khedira and Mattia Perin were all injured, while Toro missed Iago Falque, Vittorio Parigini and suspended Emiliano Moretti. Brazilian defender Bremer was given his first Serie A start in a high-pressure situation.

Salvatore Sirigu rushed out to push a dangerous long ball away from Cristiano Ronaldo, but Wojciech Szczesny had his gloves stung by Andrea Belotti on an Alex Berenguer through ball.

It was Toro who broke the deadlock, as Sasa Lukic caught Miralem Pjanic napping on a throw-in and curled his right-foot finish into the far top corner for his first goal in the Granata jersey.

Juventus fought back, Blaise Matuidi’s volley stinging Sirigu’s gloves and Cristiano Ronaldo drilled inches wide, but Alex Berenguer blasted over after skipping away from Pjanic.

Juventus 1 Torino 1: Ronaldo strikes late in Turin derby

Juventus were indebted to Cristiano Ronaldo's late goal to maintain

their unbeaten home record in Serie A against local rivals Torino.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored six minutes from time to salvage an undeserved 1-1 Serie A draw for Juventus in Friday's Turin derby against Torino

Walter Mazzarri's side had been on course for a first win away to the champions since 1995 thanks to Sasa Lukic's first goal for the club in the first half.

Ronaldo – who had come close before the interval – popped up late on, though, heading in from six yards to preserve his team's unbeaten home record in the league this season.

Despite that goal, the Bianconeri's campaign is in danger of fizzling out in underwhelming fashion, with their win over Fiorentina on April 20 – a result that confirmed their eighth successive league title – their only success in the past six games across all competitions.

Torino started in confident mood and, after Andrea Belotti had tested Wojciech Szczesny with an early angled drive, forged ahead after 18 minutes.

After being put under pressure by Joao Cancelo's sloppy throw-in, Miralem Pjanic was shrugged off the ball inside his own penalty area by Lukic, who superbly whipped past Szczesny from 12 yards.

That goal woke the hosts from their slumber and they twice came close to drawing level soon afterwards – Blaise Matiuidi's volley pawed away by Salvatore Sirigu and Ronaldo fizzing just wide from 25 yards.

Leonardo Spinazzola dragged wide from 20 yards after an hour for Massimiliano Allegri's men, while Moise Kean's low 77th-minute effort was too close to Sirigu.

With Torino seemingly on course for a famous win, Ronaldo climbed highest at the back post to convert Spinazzola's left-wing cross for his 21st league goal of the campaign.

What does it mean? Juve's season ending with a whimper

It is little surprise Juventus have lost some of their spark, an eighth-consecutive Scudetto having long been a formality. However, a derby clash really should have been enough to inject some life into Allegri's spluttering side. They were well off the pace, though, and were lucky to scrape a point – Ronaldo on hand to rescue them as he did in the Derby d'Italia against Inter last time out.

Torino, meanwhile, will be left to rue a potentially fatal blow to their hopes of securing a top-four spot. They are two points behind fourth-place Atalanta, who have a game in hand.

Lukic off the mark

Given the composure he showed to bend a shot around Szczesny, it is something of a shock that the 22-year-old has had to wait until his 56th appearance to score his first goal for the club. Expect this one to be the first of many.

Pjanic's moment of panic punished

Juve's recent malaise was perfectly summed up by Pjanic's failure to adequately deal with Cancelo's throw-in for Torino's opener. Lukic ruthlessly took advantage of the Bosnian's hesitancy to open his account for the club.

What's next?

Juventus travel to Champions League-chasing Roma next Sunday, while Mazzarri's side host Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

'Football is not an exact science' - Allegri defends Juventus after derby draw

Torino held the champions to a 1-1 draw in the Turin derby on Friday as Juve's spluttering finish to the season continued

Massimiliano Allegri has defended his style of football again after Juventus were held 1-1 at home by Torino in the Turin derby.

Cristiano Ronaldo's header six minutes from time cancelled out Sasa Lukic's opener at Juventus Stadium, as the Serie A champions continued a run of one win in six matches through all competitions.

Allegri was speaking to Sky Sport Italia for the first time since a row with pundit Lele Adani last week, in which he was criticised for his negative approach in the Champions League against Ajax.

"I was disappointed with what happened on Saturday, but I am here to talk about what happens on the field and I insist not everything is to be thrown away," he said.

"People have talked for years about this evolution of football, but I don't think we should throw the baby out with the bathwater and forget everything coaches of our youth taught us.

"Football is not an exact science. Otherwise you could explain why we had 38 percent possession against Real Madrid and won 3-1 [Champions League 2018], but we dominated possession with Ajax and lost.

"It is only right there are opinions and I can be criticised, but we should unite everything we have been taught in the past and all that awaits us in the future. The players are the stars, they play the game, and we as coaches can only put them in the right conditions to do their best.

"People may criticise my style of football, but the job of a coach is to bring results home for his club."

Allegri also discussed the way styles were employed by other clubs, but believes there are many more layers to a successful team.

"We had three emblematic games against Valencia, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. I thought our best performance was against Manchester United, but nobody remembers that because we lost," he added.

"I've been fortunate to train Juventus and Milan. These are two clubs with different DNA profiles, so you can't try and emulate Barcelona or Bayern Munich."

Next up for Juve, who have already sealed the Serie A crown - their eighth in a row - is an away trip to Roma before they host Atalanta. Their final match fo the league season is a meeting with Sampdoria.

6.5 - One of those who went closest for the Bianconeri with a low attempt which crept past the post but it was his cross which provided the equaliser. Impressed again.

5 - It was his mistake which almost gift-wrapped the Granata a derby victory. Quite what he was doing in affording Lukic the chance to rob him of possession and score only he knows. Didn't quite recover after that.

5.5 - His form has deserted him almost since returning from injury and he shows no signs of playing himself out of it. Another outing where he was subpar and it didn't go unnoticed as he came in for some criticism from the home support.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 100th header of his career on Friday night as Juventus drew 1-1 at home to Torino in Serie A.

Juve, who sealed an eighth-consecutive Scudetto title last month and were under no pressure as a result, went 1-0 down in the 18th minute to a goal from Sasa Lukic.

They dominated large portions of the game but were simply unable to find an equaliser, despite fielding a strong starting line-up.

But with six minutes remaining, Ronaldo did what he does best by leaping highest to meet Leonardo Spinazzola's cross and head past Salvatore Sirigu.

That was the 34-year-old's 21st goal in Serie A this season - second only to Fabio Quagliarella in the top goalscorers' chart - and the 100th header of his career.

No one is as good as Ronaldo when it comes to finding space in the box and scoring headers, and you can see his 100th in all its glory below.

Five-year ban for Superga mockery

Mima aereo Superga, la Juve lo inibisce per 5 anni

Juventus have banned a fan caught on camera mocking the victims of the Superga tragedy during the Turin derby for five years.

A Bianconeri supporter was filmed in the stands at Juventus Stadium miming a plane going down during their side’s 1-1 draw with Torino last Friday.

Sport Mediaset reports they were identified with the help of authorities, and they will not be able to step foot at the Old Lady’s ground for the next five years.

Saturday marked the 70th anniversary of the air disaster, which killed off the entire Grande Torino squad.

Allegri: 'Had Juve plans for six months'

125426439-9a321137-126c-47e2-9bfb-7dc82f

https://www.football-italia.net/137917/allegri-had-juve-plans-six-months

May 11, 2019

Max Allegri insists he had the Juventus project “in mind for six months” and will see if it coincides with the club’s view. “If I hadn’t brought in trophies, they’d have burned me at the stake!”

The Bianconeri face Roma in Serie A on Sunday at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT - 20.30 CET).

However, there were practically no questions about the game, as all the focus was on Allegri’s future amid speculation of Mauricio Pochettino, Didier Deschamps, Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini and others.

“It is amusing me for a very simple reason. I reflected this morning, thinking imagine if over these years I’d have not brought in a few trophies? They’d have burned me at the stake!” said Allegri in his Press conference.

“I’ll meet the President over the week and we’ll talk about the situation, 360 degrees, the way we always do every year.

“I told him after the Ajax game that I wanted to stay, then you in the media like to dress it up in bows and whistles.

“I have gratitude to the President and the club. Not everyone likes me and I don’t think I’d want them to anyway. In the end, it’s about results and over the last few years we’ve done a good job here along with the club, so I am happy with what we’ve achieved.”

Allegri was repeatedly asked whether his plans for next season were the same as those of President Andrea Agnelli.

“I said before the Ajax game that my decision was to remain. Over the week we’ll meet up and talk, that’s it. Stop asking the same question, or I’ll have to keep giving the same answer.

“It might be a bit more clamour around it here because we were eliminated from the Champions League. Some people evidently thought winning the Champions League was as easy as winning a beach football tournament over the summer holidays.

“I’ve had my ideas for six months on how to proceed and on the Juventus of next season. Now I’ll share those ideas with the President and we’ll see if they work together. I won’t tell you what those are, but I plan ahead, I can assure you.”

The newspapers had expected a summit with Allegri several days or even weeks ago, suggesting the Coach was irritated at the delay.

“The meeting was not postponed, but brought forward, as usually we have this meeting after the end of the season. As for the other names, that’s part of the game. At Milan, they wrote that I would be replaced by Pep Guardiola, so just having his name in there again means I’m considered pretty good…”

Allegri has said he wants to stay, but does Agnelli see it the same way?

“The President said after the Ajax game that he wanted me to stay. I have a good rapport with the President because we are very honest with each other and that is the most important thing.

“I am also open with Fabio Paratici, Pavel Nedved, I was with director Beppe Marotta. I always say the club is the most important thing and without a strong club behind you, it’s difficult to achieve great results.”

The tactician tried to steer the Press conference back towards the Serie A match, greeted by laughter from the assembled reporters.

“Do you know we’ve got a game against Roma tomorrow, with 50,000 people in the stands? We’ve got to play well, then there’s a wonderful celebration at home against Atalanta to enjoy the Scudetto.

“We also recovered a few players from injury. We’ve got Alex Sandro, Rodrigo Bentancur, Paulo Dybala, Emre Can, so they are back. In case you’re interested… sefz

“Dybala’s position has been the same, from the start of the season to now. Last term, he played with Mario Mandzukic or Gonzalo  Higuain, but Cristiano Ronaldo is a different player and therefore the combination isn’t the same, but Dybala’s position has not changed at all.”

There have also been reports Allegri is unsatisfied with Joao Cancelo and wants him to be sold this summer.

“Cancelo has improved since he arrived. He has extraordinary qualities in possession, especially when dealing with the ball on his own to emerge from a difficult situation.

“It’s true we have some players a bit further ahead in years, but we also have many youngsters who are still developing. It is a good mix in this squad, it was built really well. At the end of the year, we’ll evaluate all together with Paratici and Nedved the technical situations we need to improve.

“The strength of this Juventus over the last five years has been the way it changed. There are I think only three players left from when I first arrived, Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci.”

Leonardo Bonucci has joined the absentee list for Juventus against Roma after suffering a knock to the ankle.

It kicks off on Sunday at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT - 20.30 CET).

Bonucci had been expected to start at the Stadio Olimpico, but he pulled out of the squad after bruising his right ankle during today’s training session.

He joins other absentees, such as Douglas Costa, Daniele Rugani, Mattia Perin, Sami Khedira, Mario Mandzukic and Moise Kean.

Federico Bernardeschi is suspended, but Paulo Dybala, Rodrigo Bentancur, Alex Sandro and Emre Can have shaken off their fitness concerns.

Juventus squad for Roma: Szczesny, De Sciglio, Chiellini, Caceres, Pjanic, Ronaldo, Dybala, Alex Sandro, Matuidi, Barzagli, Cuadrado, Cancelo, Pinsoglio, Emre Can, Bentancur, Del Favero, Pereira, Spinazzola, Kastanos, Nicolussi Caviglia

Juve, svelata la nuova maglia: «Una scelta, una promessa»

May 12, 2019

Juventus and Adidas have unveiled their new kit for 2019-20, which controversially removes the black-and-white stripes for a monochrome look.

The shirt had already been extensively leaked over the last few months, prompting a mixture of joy and irritation among fans for the way it has broken off from the traditional stripes.

There is also a nod to the first ever jersey used by Juventus, which was pink, thanks to a stripe down the centre of the shirt.

It's reported this design was adopted after research found black and white stripes reminded Americans of a referee, as this is the uniform worn by officials in baseball and American Football.

Max Allegri's Juventus squad wants to return to their winning ways against Roma, after tying Inter and Torino in their past two matches. The bianconeri already have the scudetto locked up, but Allegri seems focused on continuing to play his starters. Alex Sandro and Dybala are recovered, but Bonucci will miss the match with an ankle injury. Szczesny is expected to start with Spinazzola, Chiellini, Barzagli and De Sciglio in defense.

Allegri will choose between Emre Can and Bentancur in midfield, the latter of which Allegri said "must grow and improve in the times of insertion." Can is the favorite to start alongside Pjanic and Matuidi.

Ronaldo will start in attack as he chases the capocannoniere title. Dybala will be a definite start as the central attacker with Cuadrado starting on the right flank in Bernardeschi's role. Below is the probably formation:

Juventus (4-3-3): Szczesny; Spinazzola, Chiellini, Barzagli, De Sciglio; Emre Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo. Manager: Allegri

The pressure is on Roma to win or be left behind in the race for Europe and Juventus unveil a new trident with Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT - 20.30 CET).

Roma absolutely have to win in order to keep up with the others in the push for not just the Champions League places, but even the Europa League.

Atalanta, Milan, Lazio and Torino have already won this weekend, while Inter host bottom of the table Chievo tomorrow evening.

Claudio Ranieri therefore packs the XI with quality in a 4-3-3 formation, using Nicolò Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini in midfield, with Justin Kluivert, Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy upfront.

Juventus will have a decisive role in the race for the top four, because they take on Roma tonight and Atalanta next week.

Federico Bernardeschi sits out a ban, with Leonardo Bonucci, Daniele Rugani, Moise Kean, Mario Mandzukic, Douglas Costa, Sami Khedira and Mattia Perin injured.

Max Allegri revamps the defence, using Mattia De Sciglio and Leonardo Spinazzola as the full-backs, with Martin Caceres stepping into the centre.

It’s a new trident with Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo, although those three could rotate their positions frequently.

Roma have failed to score in five of their last six league games against Juventus, including three on the bounce. The only time they fired blanks in four consecutive Serie A meetings with Juve was from 1948-49.

Expect goals, because the Giallorossi have found the net in each of the last nine rounds, while Juve haven’t kept a clean sheet in five.

Juventus will also wear their new 2019-20 kit, which controversially does away with the black-and-white stripes.

Roma: Mirante; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Zaniolo, Nzonzi, Lo Pellegrini; Kluivert, Dzeko, El Shaarawy

Juventus: Szczesny; De Sciglio, Caceres, Chiellini, Spinazzola; Emre Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Ronaldo

Edin Dzeko provided an assist for Alessandro Florenzi and scored the second as Roma beat Juventus 2-0 to stay in the fight for fourth.

The pressure was on the Giallorossi, because Atalanta, Milan, Torino and Lazio had already won this weekend and they’d fall behind in the race for Europe, and not just the top four either. Juve wore their new 2019-20 kits, which did away with the stripes for a half-and-half monochrome look. They unveiled a new trident with Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo, as the absentee list included Leonardo Bonucci, Daniele Rugani, Moise Kean, Mario Mandzukic, Douglas Costa, Sami Khedira and suspended Federico Bernardeschi.

Cuadrado should’ve scored after six minutes when sent clear by Emre Can, but Antonio Mirante scrambled across for a fantastic save on the tap-in.

Mirante performed a truly special reaction save to palm Dybala’s curler out of the far top corner after a great solo run from Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Juve were almost caught out on the counter, Lorenzo Pellegrini’s cross-shot bouncing off the bar with Wojciech Szczesny beaten.

Pellegrini had another attempt on the turn that flashed just wide, but Mirante again came to the rescue with a save that palmed Dybala’s strike on to the inside of the upright to bounce back out.

Giorgio Chiellini made a decisive block as Stephan El Shaarawy traded passes with Edin Dzeko to sprint down the left and cut inside, his shot charged down by the Juve captain.

Blaise Matuidi made a decisive interception to prevent Dzeko tapping in an El Shaarawy cross straight after the restart, then the Little Pharaoh failed to make the most of a double opportunity.

Ronaldo had the ball in the net on 64 minutes when running on to a Dybala pass in midfield, but he had started from a position that was inches offside.

The game somehow remained goalless, as in the space of 60 seconds Mirante used his legs to parry an Emre Can strike, then El Shaarawy’s curler was fingertipped over the bar and Lorenzo Pellegrini went off injured.

Roma eventually broke the deadlock with 10 minutes left on the clock. Florenzi exchanged passes with Dzeko to break down the right and as Szczesny came tearing out, he dinked the delicate and precise finish over the goalkeeper into the far bottom corner.

Juve tried to fight back, but Cuadrado slipped to spark a counter-attack and Cengiz Under rolled across for Dzeko to hit it first time past Szczesny for 2-0 in stoppages.

Roma: Mirante; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Zaniolo, Nzonzi, Lo Pellegrini (Cristante 67); Kluivert (Cengiz Under 78), Dzeko, El Shaarawy

Juventus: Szczesny; De Sciglio (Cancelo 84), Caceres, Chiellini, Spinazzola; Emre Can, Pjanic (Bentancur 70), Matuidi (Alex Sandro 84); Cuadrado, Dybala, Ronaldo

Allegri: 'Harder next season for Juve'

Max Allegri analysed the Juventus season and why he is refusing to commit to next term yet. “I’ve had a clear idea what we needed to do since October.”

The Bianconeri already had the Scudetto sewn up weeks ago, but fought hard in tonight’s 2-0 defeat to Roma.

“It was a decent performance, but after three or four huge chances in the first half, we really should’ve created eight or nine clear-cut opportunities for the dominance we had in that game,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“As for the opening goal, we should’ve cleared it into the stands and we would’ve avoided that too. We conceded the first on a poor clearance and the second on a counter-attack inside our half.”

Inevitably, the conversation turned to whether he is staying at Juventus next season and the upcoming summit with President Andrea Agnelli.

“As with every year, we have to sit down and figure out where the squad can be improved. It was a strong season, as we brought home trophies, but the Champions League was anomalous, as we reached the quarter-finals without five key players and paid for that.

“It’s not that those who replaced them weren’t up to it, but we had to use the same players regularly and they became tired over time.

“We’ll evaluate this year and the future, because after eight years – five under me – the next will be more difficult, the margin for error will be reduced and it’ll be increasingly difficult to win, including in Serie A.

“We have to be very clear and sharp in our analysis, the way we have been every year. It’s never been an issue for me.”

Allegri had also said in yesterday’s Press conference that he has been planning for next season for six months already.

“I’ve had a clear idea in my head on what we needed to do since October. We don’t play with just 12 players, so we need to be versatile and have different options, all of that creates motivation and excitement.

“I am at an extraordinary club that has given me the great opportunity to train Juventus, but a new season begins and we have to be clear-headed. We have to set aside everything that has been and focus only on a clear analysis of how we start from scratch in a new season.

“It’s only normal that the team can be improved every year, but it above all has to be balanced and the club has done very well in that building process.

“You can’t have two centre-forwards and two who aren’t centre-forwards at all. I had three central midfielders for a while at Milan and everyone thought I was mad.

“Clearly, it’ll be much, much more difficult next season in both Serie A and Europe.”

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini will miss Sunday’s Serie A match against Atalanta with a calf injury.

Sky Sport Italia reports Chiellini did not train on Thursday due to a problem in his left calf.

Consequently, the 34-year-old will not take part during Juve’s Scudetto celebrations.

May 19, 2019

Andrea Barzagli is expected to start his final Juventus Stadium match on Max Allegri’s farewell, while Atalanta must change in defence.

It kicks off at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT - 20.30 CET).

The Bianconeri have already won their eighth consecutive Scudetto, but are waving goodbye to some of the key men who got them there.

Barzagli is retiring at the age of 38, while Juventus announced on Friday that Allegri will not be the Coach next season, terminating his contract by mutual consent a year early.

The Professor will be in the starting XI, especially as Giorgio Chiellini is out injured along with Sami Khedira, Douglas Cost and Mattia Perin.

It remains to be seen who will lead the attack, as Mario Mandzukic could make his comeback after a month out, while Moise Kean and Federico Bernardeschi are also pushing for a starting spot.

Atalanta have plenty to play for, as they need a win to remain in fourth place and, if Inter slip up away to Napoli this evening, could even leap into third.

There is the risk of fatigue and low morale after Wednesday’s 2-0 Coppa Italia Final defeat to Lazio.

Jose Luis Palomino is suspended, with Rafael Toloi injured, so Gianluca Mancini is the favourite to step in to defence, although Hans Hateboer is an alternative in a different role.

Papu Gomez should again support Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata, with Timothy Castagne or Robin Gosens on the left flank.

Juventus (probable): Szczesny; Cancelo, Barzagli, Caceres, Alex Sandro; Can, Bentancur, Matuidi; Bernardeschi, Dybala, Ronaldo

Atalanta (probable): Gollini; Mancini, Djimsiti, Masiello; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Castagne; Gomez; Ilicic, Duvan Zapata

Andrea Barzagli starts in what will be the final Juventus Stadium match for him and Coach Max Allegri, but Atalanta need points for the Champions League.

It kicks off at 19.30 UK time (18.30 GMT - 20.30 CET) and will also see Juve presented with their eighth consecutive Serie A trophy.

Barzagli is retiring at the age of 38, while Juventus announced on Friday that Allegri will not be the Coach next season, so there is a bittersweet atmosphere in Turin this evening.

Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa and Mattia Perin are out injured.

Mario Mandzukic makes his return after a month out with a knee problem.

Atalanta need a win to ensure they keep hold of fourth place and could even leapfrog Inter into third, seeing as the Nerazzurri are away to Napoli tonight.

There is the risk of fatigue and low morale after Wednesday’s 2-0 Coppa Italia Final defeat to Lazio.

Jose Luis Palomino is suspended, with Rafael Toloi injured, so Hans Hateboer steps in to the defence.

Papu Gomez again supports Josip Ilicic and Duvan Zapata, with Robin Gosens on the left flank.

Juventus: Szczesny; Cancelo, Barzagli, Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Emre Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Ronaldo

Atalanta: Gollini; Hateboer, Djimsiti, Masiello; Gosens, De Roon, Freuler, Castagne; Gomez; Ilicic, Duvan Zapata

Josip Ilicic has given Atalanta the half-time lead at the Juventus Stadium and it could’ve been more, as they temporarily leapfrog Inter into third.

Emotions were running high in Turin, as it was the final home game for retiring Andrea Barzagli and departing Coach Max Allegri. To mark the occasion, old friends like Gigi Buffon and Fernando Llorente, as well as new signing Aaron Ramsey, were at the Juventus Stadium ahead of the Scudetto presentation ceremony.

Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa and Mattia Perin were out injured. Atalanta needed a win to retain fourth place and risked fatigue after Wednesday’s 2-0 Coppa Italia Final defeat to Lazio. Jose Luis Palomino was suspended, with Rafael Toloi injured, so Hans Hateboer readjusted to fill in at the back.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a sitter in the opening minute, ballooning an Emre Can pull-back over from 10 yards relatively undisturbed.

However, Atalanta emerged with two massive scoring opportunities in quick succession. Wojciech Szczesny did well to get down and palm away a Remo Freuler daisy-cutter, then on the corner he parried Robin Gosens from point-blank range, the rebound clipping the crossbar from Hateboer.

The referee needed a VAR review for potential handball on an Atalanta corner, but it was a double ricochet off Barzagli and Alex Sandro, so difficult to call that voluntary.

Duvan Zapata saw his angled drive beat Szczesny only to scrape a coat of paint off the base of the far post, as it rolled across the empty net.

Atalanta did get their breakthrough after a series of dangerous corners, as Papu Gomez’s set play was flicked on by Andrea Masiello to find Ilicic totally unmarked for the tap-in at the back stick.

That was a very special goal indeed, as it was Atalanta’s 100th in all competition this season, a campaign that started in July in the Europa League preliminary rounds.

Szczesny again came to the rescue with a reaction save low on Duvan Zapata’s flick, with deflection off Barzagli, while Papu Gomez flashed a dangerous ball across the face of goal with nobody to meet it.

Juventus 0-1 Atalanta (Half-Time)

Ilicic 33 (A)

Juventus: Szczesny; Cancelo, Barzagli, Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Emre Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Ronaldo

Atalanta: Gollini; Hateboer, Djimsiti, Masiello; Gosens, De Roon, Freuler, Castagne; Gomez; Ilicic, Duvan Zapata

Max Allegri unveiled his new look, confirmed Wojciech Szczesny requires knee surgery and Cristiano Ronaldo won’t feature against Sampdoria tomorrow.

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT - 18.00 CET).

The Coach held his final Press conference in Turin with a very relaxed attitude, no longer having to answer questions on his future.

There will be many changes against Samp and he confirmed the starting XI, see below, while giving injury updates.

“Szczesny has a knee problem and will have keyhole surgery over the next few weeks, but he is available for tomorrow. Cristiano Ronaldo is not making the trip, as he needs to rest and has international duty coming up with Portugal. It’s right for others to play now.

“Miralem Pjanic is coming, Blaise Matuidi and Federico Bernardeschi are suspended, Mario Mandzukic wanted to make himself more handsome and got a new nose (after surgery for a fracture), Alex Sandro had a muscular issue. You’ll see Douglas Costa next year.

“If Leonardo Spinazzola recovers, then he’ll start, otherwise it’s Pereira.

“We have to end the season on a high against a great team. Marco Giampaolo confirmed the good work he did last season and his Sampdoria deserve respect.”

Allegri concluded by referencing his new extremely short haircut.

“After that, we can all go to the beach, I’ve been told to put sun cream on my head. Now let’s go for a drink.”

Juventus: Pinsoglio; Caceres, Rugani, Chiellini, De Sciglio; Cuadrado, Emre Can, Bentancur, Pereira; Dybala, Kean

Allegri: Juve have '80% chance'

Risultati immagini per sampdoria juventus 2-0

https://www.football-italia.net/138573/allegri-juve-have-80-chance

May 27, 2019

Max Allegri feels Juventus have an ’80 percent’ chance of retaining the Scudetto without him and Fabio Quagliarella ‘deserved’ to be Capocannoniere.

Juve lost 2-0 to Sampdoria on Sunday evening, in what was Allegri’s final game in charge of the Old Lady, and he is confident they will remain the team to beat in Italy.

“I leave behind a winning team, who next season have an 80 percent chance of winning the Scudetto and will do well in the Champions League,” he said after the game.

“This winning cycle is certainly not over yet; Juventus will be ready to win again next season. I don’t have any regrets about leaving as I came to this decision together with the club.

“I would like to thank everyone at the club, from the kit-men to the physios, the doctors, my staff and all the fans who have been close to us and gave us such passionate support.

“I want to thank the club, especially as they allowed me to work with great players and gave me a strong squad to coach.

“I leave behind a winning team, who are stronger than then other teams and will again be the team to beat. Maybe with a little bit more luck, they can win the Champions League.

“I was lucky that we came to the decision to part ways when we did because, if we chose to wait until after the last home game of the season against Atalanta, we wouldn’t have been able to say our goodbyes.

“For that, I thank President Andrea Agnelli who gave me the chance to say farewell to the fans.”

The champions’ defeat was their third at Marassi in three years, while Quagliarella beat Cristiano Ronaldo to Serie A’s top goalscorer award.

“In life, things happen that are already written. I may have not Coached here, but I’m reminded that we won our first Scudetto together here and now I’m saying goodbye at the same stadium after winning our fifth.

“We played well tonight and I’m sorry we couldn’t get the win, but for a team who are supposedly already on holiday, we end the season with a decent performance.

“I’d just like to add that Fabio Quagliarella deserves the title of Capocannoniere [top goalscorer] as he is a great professional and had an excellent season.”

The Juventus Adidas third kit for 2019-20 has reportedly been leaked, featuring a pattern in shades of blue and white.

Their first choice jersey already caused a great deal of controversy for ditching the traditional black and white stripes in favour of a colour-block effect.

Now Footyheadlines claim to have images of the third kit, with blue and white broken-up pattern.
