  1. Doctor discusses if Bremer can ever be the same player after injury Gleison Bremer has suffered a serious injury that will sideline him for several months, dealing a significant blow to Juventus. His season is likely over, which is a major setback for the Bianconeri, who will now have to adjust their defensive plans in his absence. ............ The club will be anxious about whether Bremer can return to his brilliant best once he recovers from this injury. His long-term fitness and form will be a concern as they await his return. To answer that, doctor Fabrizio Tencone said: “it is not a given that Bremer will return to 100%, but analyzing the data more than 90% of the players return to the same level as before. There is an almost certain possibility that he will return to being the same player as before and if during this rehabilitation process there was time to notice anomalies in the movement, they could be corrected and he could return even stronger than before”. ............ 2. Juventus vs Cagliari: Preview and Prediction Juventus are riding high after back-to-back away wins and will return to their home ground on Sunday to face a struggling Cagliari side. With momentum in their favour, the Bianconeri are now within reach of the Serie A summit, and their latest victory, a thrilling five-goal encounter against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, further boosted their confidence. Meanwhile, Cagliari head into this match fresh off their first league win of the season, which has lifted their spirits and helped them climb out of the relegation zone. Under the guidance of head coach Thiago Motta, Juventus showcased their resilience and determination in their UEFA Champions League clash with RB Leipzig. ............ Juve’s defence has been rock solid, allowing very few chances and goals across all competitions. However, the injury to Bremer will be a blow as they prepare for Cagliari. On the other hand, Cagliari’s recent form has been less impressive, but they finally broke their winless streak with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Parma. Goals from Nadir Zortea, Razvan Marin, and a late match-winner from Roberto Piccoli helped Davide Nicola’s men get their first Serie A win of the season. While their defence has struggled, conceding goals regularly, they will hope to build on their latest win as they head to Turin. However, facing Juventus, who have dominated them in recent years, will be a daunting task. Historically, Cagliari have had a tough time against the Turin giants, losing 12 of their last 14 league meetings. Juventus will look to extend their perfect defensive record in Serie A this season, having kept a clean sheet in each of their first six matches. Cagliari, meanwhile, will need to find some attacking inspiration to break down one of Europe’s most disciplined defences. The Hard Tackle delves into the potential elevens and tactics for this highly-anticipated clash. Team News & Tactics Juventus Juventus will likely line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Michele Di Gregorio starting between the posts. Danilo and Andrea Cambiaso are expected to occupy the full-back positions, while Pierre Kalulu and Federico Gatti will form the central defensive partnership, stepping in for the injured Gleison Bremer. Manuel Locatelli and Weston McKennie are expected to hold the midfield in a double-pivot role, providing balance and support. Further up the field, Francisco Conceicao, who played a key role in midweek, could slot into the right-wing position, with Teun Koopmeiners operating centrally and Kenan Yildiz on the left. Leading the attack will be Dusan Vlahovic, who has a strong track record against Cagliari and will look to add to his impressive goal tally. Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Danilo, Kalulu, Gatti, Cambiaso; Locatelli, McKennie; Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic Cagliari Unavailable for this match are key players Mateusz Wieteska, who remains sidelined, and forwards Leonardo Pavoletti and Gianluca Lapadula, both of whom are significant doubts due to injury concerns. These absences could leave the visitors a bit short-handed, especially in the forward positions. Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Scuffet; Zappa, Mina, Luperto, Obert; Makoumbou, Marin; Zortea, Gaetano, Luvumbo; Piccoli Key Stats Juventus have won 12 of their last 14 Serie A matches (D1 L1) against Cagliari, scoring at least two goals in 12 games during this period, including exactly two goals in each of their last four encounters. Juventus have won each of their last seven Serie A home games against Cagliari, keeping a clean sheet in five of those matches. Among teams currently in top-flight, only Venezia have a longer home winning streak against a single opponent than Juventus’ 10 home wins in a row. Juventus will play a ‘lunchtime match’ in Serie A for the first time since March 2024. Prior to their last game at 12:30, Juventus had won their six previous matches played in this timeslot, scoring at least two goals in each of those games. Juventus have kept a clean sheet in each of their first six Serie A games this season, marking the first time they have achieved this feat in their top-flight history. Only three teams have managed to keep clean sheets in their first seven Serie A matches of a season, including AC Milan in 1993/94, Cagliari in 1966/67, and Bologna in 1946/47. ............ Player to Watch Dusan Vlahovic Dusan Vlahovic has been in fine form for Juventus this season, and his record against Cagliari makes him the standout player to watch in this encounter. The Serbian striker has scored six goals in nine Serie A appearances against the Sardinian side, including two direct free kicks. ............ Prediction Juventus 2-0 Cagliari Given Juventus’s stellar defensive record and their dominance over Cagliari in recent years, it is hard to see anything other than a home victory. The Bianconeri have kept clean sheets in all of their Serie A matches so far, and Cagliari’s struggles to score regularly, especially against top-tier opponents, make it likely they will be shut out again. With Dusan Vlahovic in excellent form and the home advantage at Allianz Stadium, Juventus should have enough firepower to secure a comfortable 2-0 win. 3. Preview: Juventus vs. Cagliari - prediction, team news, lineups Following back-to-back wins away from home, Juventus return to Turin on Sunday, when they play host to Serie A strugglers Cagliari. Having moved within touching distance of top spot in Italy, Juve then emerged victorious in a five-goal thriller against RB Leipzig; meanwhile, Cagliari recently secured their first league win of the season. Match preview© Im Demonstrating their resilience under the regime of head coach Thiago Motta, Juventus clawed their way back from 2-1 down with 10 men to secure maximum points in their second Champions League fixture, with star striker Dusan Vlahovic rising to the challenge by providing two crucial goals. The Bianconeri overturned RB Leipzig on German soil, despite Bremer suffering a serious knee injury within the first few minutes and goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio being sent off with half an hour left to play. Against the odds, a superb strike from Vlahovic pulled the visitors level, before substitute Francisco Conceicao embarked on a solo run and fired home a late winner. Juve had previously beaten Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven 3-1, and those Champions League goals remain the only ones conceded by their disciplined defence across all competitions - though they will now be missing Bremer for the rest of the campaign. Only Bayern Munich have faced fewer shots on average throughout Europe's top five leagues, while the Turin giants have conceded fewer shots on target (an average of 1.3 per game) than any other side. Including last week's 3-0 win over Genoa, Motta's men have kept a clean sheet in each of their first six Serie A matches, setting a new record for Italy's most successful club: only three teams have managed shut-outs in all of their first seven, and none since the great AC Milan team of 1993-94. As Juve have won their last seven league meetings with Cagliari on home turf - keeping five clean sheets in the process - they will expect to continue in that vein on Sunday and sign off for the international break in style. ............ Team News Imago Midweek medical tests confirmed that Juventus defender Bremer sustained an ACL injury during the Bianconeri's Champions League win over Leipzig, so the Brazil international will now be sidelined for several months. Federico Gatti is therefore set to partner Pierre Kalulu in the hosts' back four, while Wednesday's match-winner Sergio Conceicao could replace Nico Gonzalez, who also limped off injured last time out. Furthermore, Arkadiusz Milik has opted to undergo surgery on a longstanding knee problem, but Tim Weah could be back in the squad after an ankle injury. With no other like-for-like options, Dusan Vlahovic is set to start again, as he meets his favourite opponents: the Serbian striker has scored six goals in nine league appearances against Cagliari, including two direct free kicks. Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Mateusz Wieteska once again, while forward duo Leonardo Pavoletti and Gianluca Lapadula are both major doubts. Roberto Piccoli and Zito Luvumbo could therefore continue up front, with support from either Nicolas Viola or Gianluca Gaetano. Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Danilo, Kalulu, Gatti, Cambiaso; Locatelli, McKennie; Conceicao, Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic Cagliari possible starting lineup: Scuffet; Zappa, Mina, Luperto, Obert; Makoumbou, Marin; Zortea, Gaetano, Luvumbo; Piccoli We say: Juventus 2-0 Cagliari Given Cagliari's lack of bite - and their dismal record against Juve in Turin - the hosts should continue their remarkable clean-sheet streak for another 90 minutes. Juventus appear to be serious Scudetto contenders this season, so they will not let relatively modest opposition stop them in Serie A's Sunday lunchtime contest. 4. Serie A Preview: Juventus vs Cagliari – Team News, Line-ups & Prediction Sunday’s Serie A action kicks off at the Allianz Stadium with a ‘David vs Goliath’ clash between title-bidding Juventus and relegation-battling Cagliari. Despite the latter’s underdog status, both teams will take the field in high spirits amid a rich vein of form. ............ Brimming with confidence following another free-scoring performance, Juventus will look to protect their unbeaten league record (W3, D3) against Cagliari. However, the visitors seem to be finding their feet under new manager Davide Nicola after an unenviable five-game start in Serie A (D2, L3). ............ Match Preview Juventus Buoyed by back-to-back triumphs for the first time since sweeping Hellas Verona and Como aside in the opening two Serie A outings, the record-time Italian champions are keen to make it three in a row for the first time under Motta. Starting this matchday only a point adrift of early pacesetters Napoli, Juventus can seek inspiration in their outrageous scoring form. Despite three consecutive scoreless league stalemates, the Bianconeri have proved more than capable of packing up punch, with all five competitive wins they’ve posted this term seeing them score precisely three goals. Regardless of several top-flight setbacks in September, another goalless draw would be an anomaly, given the history of this fixture. Juventus last drew 0-0 against Cagliari in 1997, suggesting fans in attendance could be in for a treat come Sunday early afternoon. Adding to this sentiment, the Turin heavyweights have netted at least two goals in all seven home league victories against this opposition since September 2016. Cagliari The last time Cagliari left the Allianz Stadium undefeated was in May 2015, when they held Juventus to a 1-1 draw. The visitors would undoubtedly sign up for an identical outcome before the kick-off, considering they enter this round level on points with 18th-placed Lecce despite Monday’s triumph at Stadio Ennio Tardini. ............ Team News Juventus lost Bremer to a potentially long-term knee injury against Leipzig. Federico Gatti, who replaced him in that match, will likely partner up with Danilo at the heart of Motta’s defense on Sunday. The Brazilian ace has joined Arkadiusz Milik and Timothy Weah on the sidelines, while Paul Pogba remains inactive due to suspension. ............ Juventus vs Cagliari Potential Line-ups Juventus (4-2-3-1): Michele Di Gregorio; Pierre Kalulu, Danilo, Federico Gatti, Andrea Cambiaso; Manuel Locatelli, Weston McKennie; Francisco Conceicao, Teun Koopmeiners, Kenan Yildiz; Dusan Vlahovic. Cagliari (4-2-3-1): Simone Scuffet; Gabriele Zappa, Yerry Mina, Sebastiano Luperto, Obert; Antoine Makoumbou, Razvan Marin; Nadir Zortea, Gianluca Gaetano, Zito Luvumbo; Roberto Piccoli. Juventus vs Cagliari Prediction With Cagliari averaging just 0.66 goals per game in Serie A this season, not even the bravest traveling fans would dare to dream big ahead of this trip. Juventus are the only team in Europe’s traditional top-five leagues yet to concede a league goal in 2024/25, highlighting the scale of the task awaiting Nicola’s side on Sunday. As such, we can easily envisage a multi-goal margin win for the hosts, likely to be accompanied by another clean sheet. 5. Capello says Motta was sending a message to his players with his changes Fabio Capello was impressed with Thiago Motta’s bold decision after Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio was sent off against RB Leipzig. ............ However, instead of bringing on a defender to shore up the backline and avoid defeat, Motta introduced Douglas Luiz to help his team retain possession and dictate the flow of the game. ............ Capello was impressed, noting that the Juve manager wanted to send a strong message to his team: they will always play to win, even when the situation is not in their favour. He said: “When Di Gregorio was sent off, many coaches would have introduced a defender to get a draw. Motta, on the other hand, introduced Douglas Luiz, sending a signal to the team. Despite the numerical disadvantage, we are here to play our football and secure three points.” ............ 6. Alessandro Del Piero is impressed with Kenan Yildiz’s overall attitude Kenan Yildiz is considered the Golden Boy at Juventus and the most talented youngster at the club. While this could make him overly confident, the Turkey international has remained humble and works hard whenever he plays for the Bianconeri. ............ The young attacker has been compared to Alessandro Del Piero and has even been handed Juventus’ iconic number 10 shirt. ............ Del Piero believes the Turkish starlet has everything it takes to have a successful career in the future. He said: “He’s a guy with his head on his shoulders , he always approaches the game in the best way and in training he’s someone who gives his all , from what I’m told he’s very humble and aware that at his age he still has everything to prove and he wants to do it through work. These are the characteristics that then bear the best fruit, I wish him the best because he deserves it.” ............ 7. When Nicolas Gonzalez hopes to return to action for Juventus Nicolás González’s injury has not received as much attention as Gleison Bremer’s, who may have played his last game of the season for Juventus. ............ The Bianconeri are relieved that his injury is not as serious as Bremer’s, but they are also eager to have him back as soon as possible. The forward is equally keen to return to the team, and he will be out until at least the end of the month. It adds that González is targeting a return for Juventus’ match against Inter Milan on October 27th. ............ 8. “We’re becoming a real team.” Vlahovic delighted with Juventus win against Leipzig Dusan Vlahovic is thrilled with Juventus’ outstanding performance in their Champions League match against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night. The Bianconeri showed incredible resilience in Germany, overcoming significant challenges to secure a memorable victory. Entering the match with their unbeaten start to the season on the line, Juventus needed to prove they could handle the pressure. Despite facing a Leipzig side that matched their strong defensive record and boasted dangerous attackers, the Bianconeri were confident they could rise to the occasion. ............ After the fixture, he said: “I’m extremely happy, especially for the team. We played for almost 45 minutes with a man down. We’re becoming a real team. We fought as the coach asked us to, and we never stopped pressing them even with one less player. Of course, we had to suffer at the end, but I think we deserved to win.” ............ 9. Journalist heaps praise on impressive Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu has been one of Juventus’ standout performers this season, consistently exceeding expectations since joining the club. Despite not being a regular starter at AC Milan, which led to their willingness to let him go, Kalulu has thrived in Turin, and his success is now something Milan likely regrets. ............ Juventus is extremely pleased with Kalulu’s contributions and is expected to pursue a permanent transfer at the end of the season. Paolo Aghemo, a journalist who has closely followed Kalulu’s progress since his arrival in Turin, has also expressed his admiration for the player’s impressive form. ............ “Thiago Motta will have to manage the space for alternatives and in particular, there in the middle of the defence Pierre Kalulu is emerging as a true leader, who is a player that Cristiano Giuntoli has focused on , together with the coach in the summer market. So Kalulu is increasingly a fixed point for this Juventus. He was stratospheric in some recoveries right in Leipzig to maintain the advantage gained by Juventus”. ............ 10. Juventus considering terminating Pogba’s contract despite ban reduction Paul Pogba’s ban for a failed drug test has been reduced, making the midfielder eligible to play again next year, which presents Juventus with a fresh dilemma. The Bianconeri had placed him on minimum wage during his suspension and patiently waited for his appeal, although the club was not optimistic about his chances of receiving a lighter sentence. ............ Upon his return, Pogba will once again be one of the club’s highest earners, and he will be eligible to compete for game time starting in March. However, Juventus has no plans to reintegrate him into the squad. The club considers Pogba’s wages too high to accommodate, and they are already contemplating terminating his contract. Juventus is expected to discuss their plans with the 2018 World Cup winner, hoping both parties can reach a mutual agreement. ............ 11. Juventus secure gentleman’s agreement with Porto for Francisco Conceicao Juventus made significant efforts to sign Francisco Conceição from FC Porto during the summer transfer window, but they were unable to complete a permanent deal. As a result, they opted to bring him in on loan for around €7 million, with the expectation that he would return to Portugal at the end of the season. ............ Juventus and Porto have a gentleman’s agreement in place to finalise a permanent transfer at the end of the season. Juventus and Porto share a strong working relationship, and the Italian club is optimistic that there will be no obstacles in completing the move for the talented winger once the season concludes. ............ 12. Juventus considering January loan move for Barcelona man Juventus continues to scout for new talent to strengthen their squad, and they have identified Ferran Torres from Barcelona as a potential target. While Barcelona is having a strong season, not all players are getting sufficient game time, and Torres is one of them. He started the season in the lineup, but with Hansi Flick now favouring a front three of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, Torres has been pushed to the sidelines. ............ Juventus has been monitoring Torres for several months and is keen to approach Barcelona for a loan deal when the transfer window reopens. 13. Season over for Juventus defender Bremer Juventus have been dealt a severe blow as their defensive stalwart Gleison Bremer is set for an extended period on the sidelines. The Brazilian center-back was forced to leave the field after just 5 minutes in the second Champions League match against RB Leipzig. Medical examinations conducted today have confirmed the worst fears: a rupture of the cruciate ligament and meniscus in his knee. The incident occurred in the 4th minute when Bremer challenged Openda as the Belgian striker was breaking towards Di Gregorio’s goal. The two players collided shoulder to shoulder, but in the process, the former Torino defender landed awkwardly, causing a serious distortion of his left knee. Bremer immediately fell to the ground in visible pain. Despite on-field medical assessments, a substitution was quickly required, with Federico Gatti replacing the injured Brazilian. This morning, Bremer arrived at JMedical on crutches with a prominent brace covering his entire leg. The diagnostic tests revealed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Surgery is scheduled for the coming days, but typically, recovery times for such injuries range from 5 to 6 months, followed by additional months of rehabilitation. It’s highly likely that this injury will end Bremer’s season prematurely. ............ Read more -> https://www.footitalia.com/breaking-season-over-for-juventus-defender-bremer/
  14. Letexier could have ruined the game: Italian media blame referee despite Juventus’ win Italian sports papers blamed referee François Letexier on Thursday and giornalaccio rosa said the French official could have ‘ruined the game’ even if Juventus still managed to secure a 3-2 win in Leipzig. It was an eventful night at the Red Bull Arena last night. French referee Letexier ignored Juventus’ penalty kick appeals in the first half and needed VAR checks to give Michele Di Gregorio a straight red and Leipzig a penalty only five minutes later. ............ Leipzig’s penalty kick was “debatable” because Douglas Luiz tried to protect his face. However, VAR “suddenly woke up” and urged Letexier to the pitchside monitor. Letexier should have done the same to check the Vlahovic penalty incident in the first half but didn’t do so in a “mix of distraction, hasty and arrogance.” The Bianconeri were like an “anti-theft team” in Leipzig and managed to win the game “despite the referee.” ............ 16. Thiago Motta: ‘Juventus wanted to prove superiority in Leipzig’ Thiago Motta praised 10-man Juventus for the comeback victory away to RB Leipzig. ‘Negative incidents happen, but the important thing is how you react to them. We wanted to prove our superiority on the field.’ It was truly an eventful match in Leipzig, as Gleison Bremer and Nico Gonzalez went off injured in the opening 11 minutes, then RB Leipzig were leading 2-1 when Michele Di Gregorio was sent off for handling outside the box on the hour mark. “We still need to understand what happened with Bremer and Nico, they need tests and hope the problems are not too serious, but it’s too early to say.” ............ “We played well in the first half too, even if there were a few technical errors, but we did even better when going down to 10 men,” Thiago Motta told. “I think the difference in the second half was that we had more belief and wanted to prove our superiority on the pitch. The first half was good, but in the second we needed to prove that we were superior to our opponents and therefore deserved the victory.” “The courage was shown by my players, not by me, so they deserve the credit. The team gave the feeling it genuinely believed in what we had talked about before the match,” continued Motta. ............ “Negative incidents happen in games, they were truly very negative today, but the important thing is how you react to them. We kept our heads high, showed the right attitude and these are the foundations you need for a team at this level. We proved with this attitude we could overturn a very, very complicated game.” Juventus now have six points from two Champions League games under Motta, having beaten PSV Eindhoven 3-1 and now RB Leipzig 3-2 at the Red Bull Arena. ............ 17. Juventus Player Ratings vs Leipzig: Heroic Vlahovic, Marvelous Conceicao ............ Juventus (4-2-3-1) Michele Di Gregorio – 4.5 The former Monza man was left with no chance on the opener. He was unfortunate to touch the ball with his hand while rushing off his line, leaving his side with a man down. Nicolò Savona – 6 ............ Pierre Kalulu – 7.5 A robust display at the back from the Frenchman who produced a host of vital interceptions. He’s already establishing himself as a protagonist at the club. His impact on the left wing was very limited. Dusan Vlahovic – 9 A magical evening for the Serbian who expertly latched on Cambiaso’s square ball to flick it past the goalkeeper. He then dragged the 10-man Juventus back into the match once more with a jaw-dropping strike. Substitutes Federico Gatti – 6.5 ............ Francisco Conceicao – 8.5 After scoring his first Serie A goal over the weekend, the Portuguese has now cemented himself as a hero among Juventus supporters with his maiden Champions League. 19. RB Leipzig 2-3 Juventus: Incredible comeback victory with 10 men Juventus incredibly fought back from 2-1 down with 10 men in Germany to secure a stunning 3-2 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig with Dusan Vlahovic’s brace and a Francisco Conceicao solo effort. ............ The Germans had a big chance after four minutes when Lois Openda shrugged off Gleison Bremer to roll across for a panicked Pierre Kalulu clearance, but the Brazilian turned his ankle and knee during the incident and had to be replaced by Federico Gatti. Incredibly, he was followed moments later by Nico Gonzalez with a thigh issue, replaced by Francisco Conceicao, so Juve had lost two players and used up two substitution slots within 12 minutes. RB Leipzig took the lead with a sensational goal, as Openda’s absolutely inspired ball over the top found Sesko to control with the right foot, let it bounce and volley in with the left off the underside of the crossbar, giving Michele Di Gregorio no chance. It was only the second goal Juve had conceded all season. ............ Juve came out fighting for the restart, as first Teun Koopmeiners thumped the far post on a McKennie assist when he really should’ve done better. Moments later, Andrea Cambiaso’s cross from the left saw Vlahovic sneak in front of his marker to sweep in at the near post. Leipzig also threatened to restore their lead when Openda’s solo effort smacked against the upright, though moments later Openda was going clear on goal when Di Gregorio came sprinting outside the box and his glove just grazed the ball. Following a VAR review, the goalkeeper was shown a red card for stopping the clear scoring opportunity. It got even worse for Juventus on the resulting free kick, which Douglas Luiz charged down with his arm while trying to protect his face from Xavi Simons. It was the ex-Aston Villa midfielder’s first touch of the game, the referee awarded a penalty following the VAR review and Sesko converted the spot-kick. Nonetheless, 10-man Juventus equalised moments later with a remarkable solo strike from Vlahovic, who bent the vicious finish into the top corner from distance. ............ Instead, Juventus turned it around to lead 3-2 when Francisco Conceicao dribbled past David Raum and bent the finish into the far bottom corner from the tightest of angles. ............ Juventus held on through 10 minutes of added time for an extraordinary victory and have six points from two Champions League games. 20. Ten-man Juventus stun Leipzig with superb win in Germany Juventus earned a sensational 3-2 win against RB Leipzig despite being down to ten men for the majority of the second half. The game started in the worst possible way for Juventus, as they lost Gleison Bremer within the first six minutes due to injury and Nicolas Gonzalez was also substituted minutes later following an injury, with Francisco Conceicao replacing him. Despite these setbacks, the Bianconeri controlled the ball in phases during the first half, but Leipzig opened the scoring through Benjamin Sesko. ............ However, after the break, they responded almost immediately with a goal from the in-form Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus had matched their hosts all night and deserved that equaliser, but their joy was short-lived as Michele Di Gregorio was harshly sent off for handling the ball outside his area. From the resulting free-kick, Douglas Luiz conceded a penalty, and Sesko was on hand to score his second of the game. Nevertheless, Juventus struck back almost immediately with another fine goal from Vlahovic, and the Bianconeri continued to attack their German hosts bravely despite being a man down. ............ Just when it seemed the Bianconeri would settle for a draw, a moment of magic from Conceicao gave Juventus the lead! Leipzig, stunned, tried to find an equaliser, but Juventus, brimming with confidence, matched them in every area of the pitch. Mattia Perin was particularly superb in goal.
